Dinesh Reviews China’s Plan for Ending the Ukraine War
"Now let's turn to China. China has put forward a 12 point proposal. The resolve the Ukraine conflict. And let me go over these points just very quickly. Respecting the sovereignty of all countries. Abandoning the Cold War mentality. Seizing hostilities, resuming peace talks, resolving the humanitarian crisis, protecting civilians and prisoners of war, keeping safe, the nuclear power plants, reducing strategic risks. This is a code for nuclear weapons, facilitating grain exports, stopping unilateral sanctions, keeping industrial and supply chains stable and promoting post conflict resolution. Now, I say I list these because they're actually all or nearly all very reasonable. So here is a framework that I think steers a middle ground between on the one hand, you know, basically just leaving the Ukrainians to survive in a war that they will surely on their own lose or on the other hand, this kind of unending escalating. We're going to keep going until the Russians declare, you know, admit defeat, which is not going to happen. So against the west's alternative, which is essentially prolonged protracted war that could go on months here as maybe who knows. China is basically putting forward this framework now. You might think that zelensky would just dismiss it. It's ridiculous. I'm not going to go for it because zelensky seems to be kind of in Biden's back pocket. But nevertheless, here's the Jerusalem post. Ukraine's zelensky says he plans to meet China Xi. And it says zelensky on Friday, welcome some elements of the Chinese proposal for a ceasefire. So zelensky is obviously probably realizes he's on the ground after all that Ukrainian victory is not really in the cards. So there's going to have to be some sort of a ceasefire.

"Now assembling a coalition government that's quite a bit right of center because of the right-wing blocks that supported him. Here to discuss what that means for the Jewish state, is lahav harkov, senior contributing editor at the Jerusalem post. Lav, we are so grateful you are here to explain what happened. I'm going to dive right in after 5 elections in the last four years in Israeli election has finally ended in a decisive victory. Netanyahu is once again prime minister, although the coalition negotiations are formally underway quite yet, but what happened to shift what was thought to be a very close election to such a clear victory. There were some steps by the right that attracted more voters, and then there were some steps by the left that really messed things up for that. On the right, though, there was a real sense of grievance and like a strong motivation to get to the polls because they had lost the previous time. You know, like after four elections in which people sort of felt like, especially after, say, like, the first two, where people felt like, oh my God, this is just not going to change, we're stuck in this endless cycle. This time, people on the right side, oh, it did change. So they went out and voted. And for a while now, Israel has been a majority right-wing country. I mean, when we talk about right and left in Israel, generally we're talking about the approach to the Palestinians and opposing land concessions either entirely or mostly. So there's that. And there's the fact that there was a wave of terrorism in recent months. And that always helps the right, which is seen as tougher on terrorism. You know, we could get into the real nitty Gritty of it, because there are sort of different things that attract the people of different parties. But overall, and on the left, first of all, the solid left merit and labor parties. They have been in sort of a death spasm for 20 years. Every election for the past 20 years merits has been on the verge of not getting into the connection and labor has been in decline for the past I would say 23 years really since the election of 1999 with a couple of exceptions.

"Another way it happens is through endocytosed but essentially the point. I want to make here. Is that confirmational change. That happens because when this spike protein initially binds to the receptor. It's in it's in a confirmation called the pre fusion confirmation you can think of it more like closed type of confirmation once it binds this triggers. A confirmation will change for it to again. Like i said elongate and twist around when it does that that is referred to as the post fusion confirmation. And the reason that's really important is because all of the vaccines that are available in the united states under either emergency use authorization or under fda authorization or up and coming back seen so that includes the moderna and the pfizer on tech marnie. Vaccines daunton and johnson edina viral vaccine as well as the nova vaccine they all contain a insertion of two prowling amino acids into the spike protein to lock it into the pre fusion. Confirmation and this was brilliant work done by the structural biologists. Dr jason mcclellan. He's at the university of texas in austin and he thankfully had figured out this way to lock viral proteins into the pre fusion confirmation i was with the respiratory sushila virus. Rsvp and then later he had figured out for the other corona virus beta coronavirus the mayor's krona virus and so he really got a running start there and the reason that is so important is because when you're comparing this spike protein from the sars cove to virus as i mentioned. There's twenty six of them on every viral particle to the spike protein. That is in the vaccines including the amarna vaccines and the vaccines in the united states. It's different spike protein. It's a spike protein. That cannot undergo that structural change does not elongate and you know dig into the cell membrane fused with it. It's a it's a different spike protein because of those two paroling amino acids that were inserted to lock it into the profusion confirmation and one of the first things you learn as a scientist as a budding young scientists is that you can't compare apples to oranges. You can't compare two different things. You have to compare apples to apples or oranges to oranges. And so when you're talking about a different spike protein. It's different structural. Structurally different right. You can't take a study. That's looking at the spike protein. That is from the surface of sars co to and say everything. That-that's by protein is doing applies to the spike protein in the amer in the vaccines that are available. The united states. Because it's different. And so. I think that's a really really upfront..

Y'all send it to you. And i'll play it for the audience Let me just send it to you. Quick boom boom sense. I'm just gonna play this right now so just be quiet. While we're playing information on the cdc tonight attorney turning crucial things we were told about. Covert upside down and cbc repealing tonight that seventy four percents of cogan cases and bars civil county massachusetts home the province town where there was a recent outbreak were found in people who were fully vaccinated and they say now that the vaccinated are just as likely to spread the virus and those who are not vaccinated and that of course is contrary to what was widely. So if you if you had listened to that mike. Cnn is now saying that vaccinated people are just as likely to spread the virus. True that is. It's certainly true that there are a lot more likely to spread the virus than the bill that was initially sold. We've got that we've got this. This is the jerusalem post as you know. Israel is the d. most vaccinated. I believe or at least one of the most vaccinated countries we've got their Their critical care wards filling up. We've got recent surges in infections hospitalizations as well and now they're saying that after two billion people worldwide have been vaccinated Israeli experts. Are now analyzing whether rene cova vaccines could have negative long-term effects. You think you would think that you might want to have done that before before. The two billion you'd think so right like that's naturally that's naturally what you would think. Am i right. Like i'm sympathetic. To the rush to get back seen. You're in the fog of war you don't know how many die you're breaking up so much right now you're breaking up so much it science right. It's my noise gate. I'll try talk a little louder. But like like i'm sympathetic. To people being in a position where in there in the kind of like fog of war. They don't know what's going to and they've gotta make a decision. They've gotta make it fast. I don't have a problem with that. When i have a problem with is then as just being fucking lie to like why. They made the decision. So they'll be like don't wear masks you don't ask. Nobody should wear masks that they don't even help them. They'll make you sicker and then like well. We just said that because we wanted the masks for the for the people in the hospitals. I oh okay and then it's like now. You all have to wear masks. And then they'll be like well you don't need to get vaccinated so there's two weeks where we don't have to wear masks. And.

It was the kind of place where foreign companies wanted to be. It was also holding two of the main international travel agencies. ap associated press and jazeera. Both of those were just printing the rooftop because they knew this place is one of the most safest places in gaza. The tower in downtown gaza city and area code ramal had been built by family. Maybe one hundred thousand followers minister ram his living the life. That's he just woken up every morning doing his car. You on his rooftop. I-love-you tom just seeing all of god's or the sunrise sipping his coffee everyday beating for his cat he always described algebra fairly liked that own safe area hundred in a difficult place l. July was a safety net. A strong community of family neighbors yom videos. You can get a sense of what life was like that. How despite everything going on in gaza kids could still have a somewhat normal life. All of them were just mentioning. One thing that's joa maddie is like the grandfather for all of the kids here. We do celebrate christmas together. They eat together and we even have a very good relation with the janitor this to me. That's he's one of the family his working here for fifteen years so he's a part of this family but even with the privileges of wealth. Gaza was a besieged territory and people in l. jila when not immune from the latest war there gaza's health ministry says nine palestinians have been killed in israeli ass strikes on the territory. The strikes came after hamas militants fired rockets from gaza towards jerusalem after hundreds of palestinians were injured in clashes at a muslim holy site. The violence follows days of protests over plans to evict palestinians from east jerusalem in the many conflicts that hamas and israel at fort albermarle had usually been left alone. But this time it seemed like no part of gaza was being spared israeli bombing. I spoke with multiple families and they told me that after the third day the war we started. Just to pack all of this essentials that we need and at the same time we started to sleep. The courier doors because it's safer because we could so with our pair is one of the explosions in the fire. And even all of this movie. That's very close from us. We started to feel like you're really soaked in fear and then on may fifteen five days after the eruption of fighting at one thirty five in the austin. The mighties got that cole twist pausing here for second to note how weird this is that the israeli army sometimes bums buildings the way you might visit your grandma by cooling ahead i. The israeli army would later say that l. July was targeted because of a military antenna on the roof. That's something the mighties deny. Ap and al jazeera saw no reason to believe and for which no evidence has been presented not only was hamas in the building they were actively using its to fight against israel. They were using infrastructure as their command center and intelligence center. They had special technological equipment in the building which they used to actively fight and disrupt israeli actions and as such we deem to be a legitimate military target and out of consideration for human life and for the people who work there we chose to forfeit additional military gains by surprise attacking. And instead we did. Of course it's the right thing to do advanced warning and allowed everybody to clear vacate the premises and made sure that afternoon in that phone call. There was debate about reasons. The message was simple. Take the jets are coming. You have an hour to get out. The clock started man in certain situations. Legalzoom's we have like a procedures to handle something like that and maddie families was having that procedures the first thing that we need leader to evacuate all of the police and the best leader here is so the handle buffoon to lead matinee jordan in order just to buy some time after that show ed asked his son mohammed particularly start from the rooftop and stored going down and just inform every single apartment here that they need to evacuate immediately without taking anything. We didn't have time she. Donald doris daughter. He spoke to mohamed and he was just saying to me that i was speaking the stories. Like a flash. We turned off the elevator and they started with aljazeera and they started with the ap and they were totally denial about that and after that i started not knocking on the door was breaking the door and screaming. Evacuate now evacuate now. We don't have time they're gonna bomb the building. The ninth floor of alesha was home to the l. jerusha family. There was a well-known businessmen and his wife. "Thirteen twenty fifteen twenty seventeen thousand nineteen now twenty twenty one for her last five terms in congress california democratic congresswoman. Judy chu has introduced the same bill. A simple bill which has been promoted by democratic politicians including presidents for a generation. Now a bill to codify the protections for abortion rights that are supposedly enshrined by roe versus wade. Which the united states supreme court has now jettisoned before now. Judy chu has been introducing this every two years but has been going anywhere now of course everybody is paying attention to what congresswoman shoe has been trying to do for the better part of a decade better late than never joining us. Now is congressman. Judy chu democrat of california. She's the lead sponsor of a bill to protect abortion rights. Bill that speaker pelosi has now promised the house will take up and pass as a first order of business when they return later this month congresswoman shoe. Thank you so much for being here. I know this is a an intense time. Thank you for having me. Tell us about your determination to try to get this past. You have been pursuing this in a single minded way for years now even as you've had so many democratic co-sponsors so much frankly lip service support that this is an important thing but no no effort no momentum to actually get it done before now. What first of all let me say that. There's a very dedicated group of members of congress that have been pushing for this law as well so it certainly isn't just me. I just have the privilege of being able to lead this effort. it has been important because Starting in two thousand eleven. We saw these states doing these anti abortion laws that were restricting access by requiring a certain width of the doors or doctors to be admitted at hospitals. Where there's no relevance or requiring waiting periods ultrasound to separate visits to clinics and we knew we had to have an overall solution that would indeed make the protections of roe versus wade into law by establishing a federal statutory right for patients to receive and providers to provide abortion care three from these medically unnecessary restrictions at single out abortion and impede access. This bill will indeed do this. I have to say though that we have gotten more and more co sponsors and actually In this last congress we had the greatest number of cosponsors two hundred and sixteen members of congress that was imported it and it in fact we actually had the most pro-choice congress in history. And we did this bill knowing that the day would come when there would be a draconian bill like sba that the supreme court would let go into law and undermine roe versus wade so i am so grateful that finally we are bringing it to the floor. I'm so grateful to speaker pelosi. And i'm grateful that president biden is indeed Supporting the right for a statutory Kind of of improvement to the roe versus wade debate with two hundred and sixteen co sponsors and with speaker pelosi now backing this effort and her commitment to it today to get it done i have i have. I believe that this can pass the house democratic majority in the house speaker. Pelosi behind it and that kind of those kind of numbers. You're going to get there. Are you also working on bicameral strategy. Obviously there are arguably a few. Maybe two democratic senators who are explicitly. Anti-choice joe manchin and senator casey There's others that i can't speak to. In terms of their commitment to the issue there are also at least a sensibly republican senators. Who say they are for upholding the protections overseas wade setting aside the issue of the filibuster for now and whether or not the filibuster will survive this challenging time in our nation's history. Do you believe that it's possible to even cobbled together. A fifty vote majority in the senate to pass it. I do balut. Do believe that it's possible. And let me say that. Since the beginning of the introduction of this bill we've had an incredible partner an incredible champion. And that is senator richard blumenthal who introduced the senate version of this bill. Since the beginning and he has been working to get the co-sponsors he actually has forty eight co-sponsors on the senate side. We also know that there are two republicans that are a pro choice and so we have the ability to get somewhere on this besides the fact that the country is more galvanized than effort because of this disturbing and chilling bill that would turn private citizens into vigilante bounty hunters against anybody who helps a woman who wants to have an abortion doctor staff members at clinics counselors people who help pay for the procedure. Even an uber driver taking a patient to an abortion clinic could be subject to this ten thousand dollar fine. Private citizen could go after all of them and make quite a living actually congresswoman judy to lead sponsor of the bill to protect abortion access. But speaker has promised to take up later this month in the house spin leading this effort for years it is now going to. It's it's now going to move congressman shoe. Thank you for keeping us apprised. I imagine we'll be back talking to you about this in day. Is the bill moves. Thank you i will tell you what congresswoman shoe was just saying there two hundred and sixteen co sponsors in the house forty eight co-sponsors in the senate plus a couple of republicans who say their pro choice for that puts a spotlight on it doesn't it the senate keeps the filibuster. Nothing can happen along. This line. let alone voting rights. Let alone all the other things. But if the senate was willing to revise the filibuster was willing to change that law. One of the things that could happen is that roe versus wade could be codified.

I'd be curious of your of your opinion. I'm afraid you're right, Mark. You know what's happening now It's just a continuation of what happened in the Obama Biden there now that it's the Biden era, Russia had been a peripheral player in Middle East if a player at all since 1973 when Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger help eject them from Middle East, and Obama basically invited invited him back in after the Syrian Red Line fiasco when he refused to enforce his own red line. And now you've got countries like Saudi Arabia, longstanding partner of the United States, who see what's happened with Joe Biden's bug out in Afghanistan were abandoning not just Afghans who helped us but even our own citizens, and they think they need to start cutting side deals to protect their own interests. You know, some people compared what's happened over the last week in Afghanistan. Having decided on in 1975. And remember what happened. Saigon in 1975 small foretaste of what Lay ahead, Laos and Cambodia fell almost immediately. You had the horrors of Paul Pot, then become a rouge. Cuba is sending shock troops all over the All over Latin America and Africa as well. Russia invaded Afghanistan. Um, so for years that reverberated. I'm afraid that Joe Biden's impotence and incompetence in Afghanistan will reverberate for years to come

And they might be career foreign service officials they might be political appointees they might just be big campaign donors given what seemed to be a cushy number but the role of america's ambassadors can prove. Crucial the administration's far-flung proxies cement relationships with states territories and intergovernmental organizations their diplomatic. First line of defense so when those posts stand empty for months or more. It's a worrying sign. Joe biden is moving very slowly to get key people in position across the government. And you see it. Particularly with his ambassadors he hasn't put names forward and at the same time. The senate is moving very slowly to confirm the people that he has nominated. James bennett is a visiting senior at. The economist is yet to nominate ambassadors to a number of america's key allies and the capitals of some of its adversaries. And why is he finding it so hard to get those in place. Every president struggles with staffing their government biden. Is i think being subject to all the usual crosswinds that presents have to contend with their lengthy background checks. That have to be run on every possible appointment. But there's also tremendous amount of politics involved beyond the internal issues that the biden administration has they have to contend with a senate that is always very slow to confirm appointees and particularly this time around. The senate's been slow off the mark because of the insurrection on the capital on january six followed by the second impeachment of donald trump these sorts of things have preoccupied the senate and what are the consequences of leaving those posts open for this long. You know. it's hard to measure the impact of missing ambassador. I think a good example in the negative of what you miss when you don't ambassador in places that the administration was very slow to react as tensions were building in jerusalem in advance of the last exchange of blows between hamas israeli government. I think there's an argument to be made is very hard. Always establish a counterfactual but if the ambassador had been in place that person would have had the influence to raise the importance of that gathering storm to the administration and possibly get them to intervene in advance of that as it was. They were slow to react reacted. After the fact sense. A deputy assistant secretary of state. Who's the one person that available over to try to deal with the but by then a lot of damage had been done and all presidents presumably face a lot of the same gummed up machinery. And how does mr biden's record compare with previous presidents biden's record is nixed and it surprising because he knew what he was facing. He knows how slow this process is and he has senior aides or experienced in dealing with the as well and they did one thing that was really wise on day. One when joe biden was sworn in he had a thousand appointees who don't require senate confirmation thousand in that category appointees ready to go and it got him started right away but since then he has moved very slowly. And i think it's partly a function of what happens with every administration they get in. It's a complicated process appointing anybody. And at the meantime you're dealing with crises and actually trying to run the government and personnel decisions. Just become easy to put off as a result biden is now tracking yes ahead of donald trump in the biden is closing in on about one hundred appointees confirmed but he's well behind where brock obama was at this point well behind where george w bush was. Almost a hundred may sound like a good number. But that's out of twelve hundred appointees he's supposed to make that require senate confirmation and all these opposed to point four thousand people to the government and what about the appointees that he's picking are they in keeping with whip prior presidents have done think biden's making a real effort to try to restore a bit of balanced to the ambassadorial corps. Donald trump was president. Who particularly liked to reward donors and campaign allies with ambassadorships. He raised the proportion of such appointees he raised the proportion of political allies to put a job joe biden and his secretary of state. Tony blinken have made a point so far of appointing foreign service officers. That's very good for the morale of the state department. It's also probably very good for foreign policy because these are people who tend to know their way around the block but at the same time they're trying to do something about the diversity of the ambassadorial ranks a study done in january showed only five out of one hundred eighty nine american ambassadors. Were black and they're trying to address that tremendous disparity as well and those sorts of factors also add to the complexity of the decision making so how to simplify the decision-making how much of this is a structural problem since every president seems to face it to one degree or another reducing the total number of appointments the president after make eliminating some of these physicians entirely particularly some that go unfilled across an entire administration. Which i think is probably evidence. They're not that important and reducing the numbers that require senate confirmation. Would i think increased accountability on the president's and john each administration to really do something to improve the efficacy of government. Joe biden has a really ambitious domestic agenda. He also wants to conduct a very activist foreign policy. Republicans have very successfully run since the nineteen eighty s on the proposition. That more government was bad for you. Democrats believe the government has critical role to play. But what you've seen in democratic administration after democratic administration is a real. I think failure to grapple with what frustrates a lot of americans about the tremendous bureaucracy. And the lack of responsiveness. They feel like they see to their needs and so both to carrying out his agenda and to deal with this underlying ambition. That biden has to demonstrate..

Former Israeli space security chief says extraterrestrials exist, and Trump knows about it
"The former security chief of Israel's space program. Bill. This is big news. You're just dropping it here like this, says the President, Donald Trump is aware of aliens from outer space and was about to disclose their existence. Before being stopped. Cream and shed. A former Israeli general at a current professor of the university, told an Israeli newspaper that the U. S and his country have been dealing with aliens for a long time. But that they remain a secret because, he said, humanity isn't ready. According to The Jerusalem Post. The 87 year old ahead also claims that there is a galactic federation between aliens in the United States, which involves an underground base on Mars, where Americans and aliens work together. The report summarizes the exist of existence of the base or excuse me, the report surmises. The existence of the base could support Trump's creation. Of the U. S Space Force. That's why we're doing it. That's why Trump wants to do it. Shed, says Trump was close to alerting the public about aliens but was kept from doing so by the galactic federation because humans are not ready to understand what space And spaceships are That's for his reason for divulging the secret to shed said. Well, I have a really high academic standing here in Israel and I've released this information because I've got nothing to lose.

A CAmpaign To End The Celebration Of New Years
"Welcome to the promised by gas. Brought to you on T. l. v. one the voice of the city whose worthies and Burgers in the nineteen thirties launched a campaign against the celebration of New Year's which in mandatory Palestine as in Modern Day Israel was known as Sylvester the name borrowed from Pope Sylvester the first thirty third pope of the Catholic Church who was buried and in the catacombs of Priscilla in Rome on December thirty first and who was beatified on December thirty first date became known as Saint Sylvester's Day or the Feast of Saint Sylvester which feasts came to stand for the reveries of the night dividing the last day of the year from the first day of the New Year in Israel as in Austria Italy Lee Bosnia Germany Slovenia Slovakia Switzerland Luxembourg left in China Poland and the Czech Republic France Croatia and probably elsewhere as well now on December remember twenty seven thousand nine hundred eighty four for instance. The paper hired-in reported that the city had been plastered with posters quote sponsored by the rabbinate and the the Hebrew community calling for residents not to celebrate this holiday Silvester as it is foreign to the spirit of Judaism they ask the owners of houses of pleasure and cafes not to rent their rooms for these purposes and quote Davar reported in the same year that deputy mayor Easter Iraq who fifteen years later would ascend to to mayor addressed the city council about quote the question of the holiday of Sylvester that is setting down roots in Tel Aviv. FEE proposal of Mr Rocca was accepted saying at the city council of Tel Aviv sees in the foreign custom of Sylvester celebrations a definitely unwanted thing which is in opposition to the spirit and traditions of the people title of Israel and asks all cafe owners and owners of large halls in the city not to organize Sylvester parties. A committee was chosen to speak with cafe owners owners etc about this matter and quote a year later in nineteen thirty five the municipality itself published this notice quote the city sees itself as obligated to remind owners of cafes and restaurants this year once again of the need to refrain from having public celebrations in honor of Sylvester Eve. This custom to celebrate the holiday of Sylvester believe in public Jewish circles in the Hebrew city harms the national lifestyle that is taking form in the land of our forefathers. This claim is aimed also at the General Oh public some of whom admittedly only a few make a practice of celebrating this holiday with debauchery and loud social parties obviously the municipality and the the citizens of the city will treat with respect anything undertaken and done in honor of this day by those residents of the city and their guests who are not Jewish for this is their holiday and quote in a year after that in one thousand nine thirty six of our reported after the fact that quote several cafes such as the Lawrence and Savoy had special holiday programs in Tel Aviv. There there were many private Sylvester parties mostly from the circles of immigrants from Germany until morning. There was much car traffic and many walking on foot. One of these people who return to his home home after midnight under the influence of alcohol startled the volunteer firefighters with a false report of a fire end quote in nineteen thirty nine. The paper beaucaire made its feelings things about known with a one line article with a banner headline on page three the article in its entirety. Read quote on Silvester Eve. Eleven people committed suicide in new. You Work and quote in one thousand nine forty. The religious paper hot so fat reported this quote I witnesses say that a man of Israel at midnight in Tel Aviv especially in the North would forget that he lives in his own nation and land semester celebrations were celebrated in several coffee houses Jewish houses in the Hebrew city and whomever was indies coffee houses which elevated the celebration to the top of the top and drinking and debauchery would forget that we live in times of emergency. The New Year by the general accounting is not for us. It's the Jews. But it is a New Year for trade and bills and money's silvester celebrations are not Jewish celebrations in the land of Israel. Especially and only those who became habituated to these celebrations collaborations in foreign lands the lands of assimilation fail to Wean themselves of this habit. Even after they pass through all the circles of hell they returned to their iniquity in the land of Israel Israel. These are just one chapter of the spiritual and moral decline that is evident in our public life especially in the first Hebrew city the glorious tel.. Ah Vive end quote now to celebrate. Silvester Twenty twenty in the glorious Tel Aviv. There were hundreds of events for instance one could welcome the New Year with the Abba Tribute Band Carney or or go to Cooley Alma for their annual gala. Three for one Christmas New Years Novi Bash the bootleg was hosting a centers party quote unquote the hostile hosted hip hop new year's breakfast on Rothschild had funke Meli and these were just a fraction of what was on offer so grand was the celebration that the municipality itself posted this on facebook from the legendary Tel Aviv. EDM Club the block quote mayor e high. I don't feel so good. I won't be coming into work tomorrow and quote quote this post from Iraq Tel Aviv Tel Aviv municipality itself. Yes there was the battery in the city. All right one could pretty much find any form of depravity ones. Momma might have worn one against save perhaps for the badgering bullying browbeating of the burgers. About how you really shouldn't go to a drag show on New Year's in the first Hebrew city in the Jewish state and arguing nothing captures the spirit of the city. Well Tel Aviv. Dafa better than a tradition reaching back. Almost ninety years of offsetting the ideological severity doctrinaire rectitude a to enforce the citizen of the hidden who ain't kidding of joyless Orthodox Zionism and greeting each new year. Israelis vote in repeat election centered on PM Netanyahu
"To get but let's talk for a second Israel's election self coming up in next forty eight hours is Israel's second election within like six months or eight months according to Reuters Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu stepped up a bit for far right votes two days before a closely contested election convening his cabinet in the occupied west bank and having it approved legal status for an unauthorized outpost okay first of all there's nothing under international law that says that Israel is barred from building in the so called west bank injured and Samaria those are at best a disputed territories into his caretaker government met on Sunday in the Jordan Valley a largely agricultural area which announced on Tuesday he tends to annex if he wins a fifth term Israeli cabinet and barely held sessions in the west bank now in reality so is that election gambit of course it is but is it illegal now I not only is it not illegal his opponents in the same exact race are celebrating the fact that Netanyahu is talking about doing something with regard to the Jordan Valley the Jordan Valley strategically important area for Israel and always has been and this bizarre notion that Netanyahu is annexing the territory as opposed to applying Israeli sovereignty annexation and applying Israeli sovereignty are not the same thing. is gonna Mitchell bard right about the sort of stuff just need to know the statement was widely misreported as calling for annexation of the territory but he chose words carefully. he said applying sovereignty which Ariel Davidson of the federalist nodes has a different meaning a nation cannot an excellent over which already has sovereign claims meeting that is not that this land is owned by the Palestinians and never was owned by the Palestinians this land is owned by the Jordanians was lost in a war and then Israel to get over. as with other issues related to the status of the disputed territories is as much a part the wisdom of such a move may be debated however it is important to know some of the facts about the Jordan Valley that there were settlements in the Jordan Valley dating all the way back to nineteen sixty seven then any prospective peace deal those areas would end up in Jewish territory you talk about being who is the sponsor of the Oslo Accords also wanted those areas to be under Israeli control because the Jordan Valley has to be under Israeli control or the Jordan River could be cut off from Israel's population. it is also true they say that the blue and white party missing out his chief opponents in this election actually support him. according to the according to an interview in The New York Times the blue and white party supports his basic idea here early in the Jerusalem post they say the blue white party said was pleased to see he was adopting and would like to plan for recognizing the Jordan Valley so the international media trying to turn the Israeli election into a referendum on Netanyahu Netanyahu is the obstacle to peace of only got rid of Netanyahu everything would be all better and they headed out for Netanyahu's and broke a bone headed out for Netanyahu and Barak Obama headed out from Seattle because you want to see a widely reshipment least in which Israel's influence was diminished Mysterons influence was maximized. no one was not he's not lying about this is pretty obvious he kept talking about Ron being a well respected regional power and how he saw the Israel Palestinian issue as one of the key wheels to turn in order to achieve some sort of balance of power in the Middle East now as we've seen that alternate out then that all turned out to be a bunch of nonsense the fact is that Israel and Palestinians have nothing to do with the broader Middle East Israel has made no concessions to the Palestinian authority over the last several years now should day and yet war has not really broken out there specifically because the Saudis are not interested in backing the Palestinians neither are the Jordanians neither are the Egyptians the only people who are interested in pushing a Palestinian terrorist aspirations are exactly the sorts of groups the back terrace in first place for talking of the Turkish government we talk about the Iranian government. in any case writer suggest at this new meeting the government announced it had approved missing out his proposal to turn the outpost above all get a call into a formal settlement twenty years after he was stabilised as a farming community in the Jordan Valley without state sanction. it requires a tension meddling in public remarks of the session Netanyahu said it would be up to the government formed after Tuesday's election to grant final approval. now according to the according to Reuters this is all about how brutal Netanyahu is appealing to far right voters in the cruise supporters deterrent large numbers Netanyahu has been portraying himself as being in lockstep with ultra nationalists of retaining west bank land through annexation. well no that was always we could plan from the could platform was that Israel would retain an enormous amount of the Jewish settlement activity in any peace deal well it is also the perspective a blue and white. it's amazing to watch as the media get an attempt to turn it in Yahoo into the villain here as opposed to the reality the peace deal died a long time ago it died because the Palestinians refused no less than four or five times any effort at peace their views the original Oslo Accords any refused a deal tried to cut by Bill Clinton in two thousand between Ehud Barak and Yasser Arafat Arafat walked away from the table and started intifada there's a ten two piece of our Sharon that was bought out by the Palestinians and would only tried one that was blocked out by Palestinians. Yahoo himself in his first go round in the nineties signed over eighty percent of your day and Samaria in the in the wye river accords but always the problem for the media is that Israelis to intransigent not that its opponents are terrorists. which is the real problem here. opinion polls right now so that we could and its main challenger the centrist blue and white party are running neck and neck. there is no real division on on these issues now blue and white may approach this more slowly and maybe this is an election gambit again the this bizarre idea that your going to be able to cut a different foreign policy of blue and white is not for now the election polls are showing this thing very very close the latest election because the way that works in Israel is there are a variety of parties they get elected to Knesset you have to have at least four seats to sit in the Knesset which is a hundred twenty seats I need to form a majority by putting together a coalition now last time Netanyahu did have enough for a majority the problem was a big door Lieberman who leads one of the parties the Israeli Tina party. refused to join the coalition without earning some concessions from it you know who sent it to ya who simply called an election it looks like the results are gonna be pretty similar right now blue and white are neck and neck with we could but the other parties that would side with Netanyahu in the elections are winning more seats so you mean which is the the sort of right wing alternative to Likud is supposed to win anywhere between seven and ten seats in the in the various polls labor has turned into a non party which is unbelievable a labor used to be the the other major party in Israel all the way up until about nineteen eighty with the election Megan labor had every prime minister of Israel and now they are winning forty six seats in the selection which is truly incredible. so we'll see how this ends up. if you had to lay odds right now you would suggest an anti who probably retains the prime ministership and that again is not because of the people of Israel have fallen for Tierney or anything like that that's because everyone in Israel agrees on security and a no at this point that regardless of whether they nominate Matignon who to leave the government or whether they nominate any guns to lead the government that security is only going to be a shirt by taking a strong stand against terrorism and by refusing to make deals with the Palestinian authority nonetheless there is this bizarre notion in the media that whenever there's an impasse in the Middle East the only liberal democracy in the area is involved in a long piece in The Washington Post about Robert Kagan it's a truly egregious please. Israel and the decline of the liberal order into it really quite disgusting piece and the idea is that BB Netanyahu siding with the nationalists as opposed to liberal internationalists and it really it would be in Israel's best interest if they would just side with a liberal internationalist like France and Germany there's only one problem those are precisely the states that had some of the worst anti semitism problems in Europe Jews are fleeing their on mass there's also the governments that are. trying to make concessions to the Iranians as the Iranians open the call for the extermination of every Jew in the region is unbelievable but this tell me you're going to cover this thing anything yeah who's the bad guy by the way as I say there a lot of people I know on the right who don't want to Yahoo to be prime minister anymore they want any guns suggested that the media will recognize that this is not anything Yahoo problem this is the rest of the world just like in Israel and that's the

New Israeli-Palestinian cease-fire in effect, for now
"Is editor in chief of the Jerusalem Post author of the new book shadow strike inside. Israel's secret mission to eliminate Syrian nuclear power a Yakov. Welcome to the show. Are you in the city? Are you in New York, man? I am great. We wanted to reach out. I wasn't sure if you were in Jerusalem and your give us a breakdown. Exactly. What's happening? What's been going on all all weekend? And on the white is this keep happening yacht coffin. Thank first of all. Thank you for joining us, sir. Thank you for having me. I really appreciate it. We'll call Pat forty-eight hours. You've had steady morning Bill late last night. Israel time over six hundred rockets fired into Israel four Israeli killed at take missiles fired across the border mortars fired across the border all throughout yet. Southern Israel over a million and a half is Ray we've hunker down bomb shelters not able to leave their homes because they nonstop and chef and rocket fire into their cities and this is happening right safely. Because Dabney there's a terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip that ruled Gaza named combat that just has failed to recognize the fact that there is a Jewish state next to it and doesn't want to come to terms with that and every single time that they want to try to get something. Whether it's, you know, more money out of the world or they want to get to ease. Some of the pressure of the sanctions that imposed on it because they are terrorist organization. This is what they do. And they just fire and try to kill people. And now, they re there are reports Yakov of a truce or ceasefire is that true. Late night. Well, actually in the middle of the morning. A ceasefire went into effect Israel has yet to formally confirm that there's a cease fire. But that often seems to be the case that has more to do with cut the politics on these Rabi side Benjamin Netanyahu never wants to be seen as someone who's maybe caving in to pressure or appearing to be a week of these the terrorist group Kamah, but I'm extreme that there is a ceasefire now, but the the canons are silent for the time being. But with the keep in mind is sadly happening every month and a half month or so, right? The last big round violence was at the end of March. Now, we have one in the beginning of may and something has to change here. Something has to change in this paradigm of Israel's relationship with the Gaza Strip because just sadly keeps repeating itself. A prime minister Netanyahu say as he addressed his security cabinet. Well, I just a security cabinet initially. They asked for a approval authorization for the ID FDA's done bombing and striking away at Gaza and at Kamath targets. But also, it seems that the reached this compromise that for now if certain things happen, they can reach ceasefire. So what are the Palestinians say about all this? I mean, the the usual rhetoric it's the usual weather pretty much more of the same Gaza is not a good situation. It's not something that we would want to see continue the way it is. There's a there's a bad humanitarian situation, but that's mostly the result in the failure in the fault of HAMAs, which is a terrorist group that rules them. It's a very simple Joe if would allay down its weapons stop firing rockets inches real stop attacking stuff shooting across the border. They would be peace. Right. And and that sadly is the case they could have whatever they want that Gaza. Could potentially one day turn to the single. Four of the Middle East, but not as long as it's ruled by terrorist organization that spend time Israel's destruction. And and just talk about the book for a second west the story that we tell them the book is what Israel's willing to do in shadow strike when it finds the threat of an existential nature. Laking Syria were saw nuclear reactor being built what it has to do to take action to remove that threat from the horizon. She'll do you think now machine the United States deploy that carrier strike group to send the ran quote, unquote, a clear and unbe snake -able message. This has to do probably with HAMAs. Don't you think? This is all about Iran, right? The United States is looking very much to get the Iranians to come back to the table to renegotiate a nuclear deal ever since President Trump pulled out of that deal of buddy half ago, and therefore one of the this is one of their tools is to pressure Iran into say, look, we have a credible military threat against you. If you guys keep on doing what you're doing which is undermining countries throughout the region operating out of Syria, supporting his Balon, Lebanon, obviously come off also in Gaza, and these Lama she had there and you continue to carry out attacks into into Todd destabilize the Middle East. We now have a military presence here. And the reason next significant is because for the Iranians to come back to the table and Tarini go. She hated deal they were their nuclear program, they need to feel like they have something to lose right now. They don't feel that. Right. Chinese are still in the deal. The Russians are still in the deal. Europeans are still in the deal. Just the US is left and they need to feel. They have something to lose weight victory. Trump has reimpose sanctions against countries that by rainy and oil now to bring an aircraft carrier, right? The USS Lincoln out there. What he's also sending a message of look there's a military presence. And you know, he run is still the greatest threat that we face come since the problem in Gaza. Iran is on path one day to getting a nuclear weapon Israel twice in history. And this we tell I tell the story in the book nineteen Eighty-one bomb dose Iraq's reactor if that Saddam Hussein's reactor up at a Baghdad two thousand seven Syrian reactor. He is still an unfinished business, and we hope we can avoid that conflict. But I think that this is part of what the Trump strategy is right now. So don't tell so HAMAs just two camp to capsulize this whole thing. Yakov Yaacov Katz editor in chief of the Jerusalem Post. So Israel's minding its own business. Home starts all starts with the with the rockets into out of nowhere that happened. You know, there's always been a trickle, right? Israel pulled back as you might recall Joe back in two thousand five pulled out of Gaza, no longer settlements. They're no longer has its really military positions. There pulled back to the international border said to the Palestinians. Do what you want right? This is yours built it up. Make it this amazing Singapore Middle East, right? But instead what the grew there were rockets and improvised explosive devices and bombs and just a a culture excuse me, terrorism and hate and incitement, and this is what happens right Israel reaches. There was a round of violence a month ago. Also sparked I didn't know where Israel reaches some sort of ceasefire mediated by Egyptians. And sometimes the Qataris their understanding, and then again, come starts to feel. Okay. Why don't we do this? Another time. We can get some more money out of the world or we could get some more concessions and they start to walk at fire again. Right. So sadly, this is what Israel's living with alongside its borders and all these store. That people will tell you well Gaza's occupied or Israel is controlling borders. It's not sense, right? God has the border with Egypt. It has a border that it could easily cross into Egypt. Egypt. Don't want them crossing because they're also terrorists. Right. So all of this these stories that people will tell you of Gaza being the largest open air prison in the world, Israel, pulled out of Gaza gave it to the Palestinians, and sadly, they've only brought us terrorist incident. All right. And how many people have been killed up to this point Yacov? Please. Your four Israelis that were killed, obviously, that's on the Israeli side a bit more on the Palestinian side there was targeted killing but his carried out against the top Kamath operative. There are a couple of other people who were killed in some of the bombings Israel took out. Some major installations and buildings and headquarters, and this is sadly, the place of what happens when there's a conflict Yakov Katz editor in chief of the Jerusalem Post and the book, by the way that you have to check out it's called shadow strike inside Israel secret mission to eliminate Syria nuclear power, you know, reads like a novel. It's all true facts that you have shadow strike, correct? Yacob all true facts. And that's it. It's really an amazing story. Joe Fraley military might espionage political intrigue. Total for stories will listen, the keep defied, my friend. God bless you. You're welcome here anytime.
