Broncos' Jerry Jeudy Expected to Miss 4-6 Weeks With High Ankle Sprain
"Have to like with teddy bridgewater brought to that game. I mean it's all about getting the ball out on time lang within the offense and getting the ball accurately to his receivers and and that's what he didn't. Fourteen percent above expectation is completion percent and the one thing that was great to see was not a ton of dink dunking eight point. Four intended air yards per pass so he was efficient sad though to see one of his weapons. Jerry judy go down. Although i think when we saw it live unfold as he's out for the season they're saying the mic came back. It's just a high ankle sprain now. Those can take multiple weeks right. Probably even maybe a month but it was better than alternative of missing the
Fresh update on "jerry" discussed on The Brutal Truth About Sales and Selling
"What did you learn as far as what makes a great salesperson because it's it sounds a little different than combat in some ways it will mindset. You know when. I when i talk. Close quarters combat. I taught the law enforcement. Military special forces and and federal agencies about thirty percent of what i taught was mindset seventy percent being the physical aspect and i took those same mindsets and jerry over to sales and i mean look. Sales is the ability to influence the decisions the actions of other people toward whatever best most beneficial for them right the the mindsets that we have to use and leverage consistently throughout a cell cycle or very similar to that in combat. I mean for example. You gotta know you've won before you stepped into the room. And how do you know that sales though. Well confidence that comes through being very good at what you do. It's it's incompetence had you feel that's effective or i love the mindset thing but can you give us some more examples may be to help us well especially with what i sold. What i sold was additive manufacturing technology. That was very. It could go anywhere from fifty thousand dollars for a system to four million dollars for system a very long bicycle and a very competitive landscape and i can tell you that You know the majority of people that are out there doing it. I mean they have to have a lot of opportunities to close one deal and that one deal that they do close can take up to eighteen months and by changing my mindset like for example as soon as you get into this industry everyone says they just see you know these big deals. They take about a year and a half. Okay they tell you that. So don't go chasing the big deals as well holiday. You gotta stay over here with some of the smaller As the bread and butter well. That's a mindset. If i adopt i have the mindset is going to take a year and a half to close these deals will i refused to adopt that mindset. I said no the amount of time it's going to say has to do with me and the job the job that i do In influencing and en route and moving these timelines moving these budgetary restraints By in by adding more value to whatever the value was determined that created those timelines budgets. Those can be moved as well. And so i got to where i was closing. These big deals in thirty to ninety days Not a year and a half. Because i chose my own mindset right but the your customer didn't and some of those things take time they're there for a reason and it's not just because there isn't more value. I mean there's always emergencies and priorities but there's also there's skills just because you believe that it should only take ninety days. That's you but you're not buying. When when when. I say that as a sales professional my job is to influence others. Doesn't that include influencing your mindset for this purchase. I get that part but what did the how did you get costumer to move because we're usually dealing with the person who needs us but they have no money very little political power and almost zero understanding of the administrative process. Yeah i would. I wouldn't talk with someone about a you know a million dollar deal by the are reviewed termine that. They have the money if they don't have the money of you know that's not a that's not all the company has the money the per sites right. Yes so So when when you're talking to someone and they tell you at you say what is your time line budget and and they say well the time line. Is you know by march of next year. The budget is one million dollars and the need is. We're going to three print cells for for rocket edges. Okay well is that person giving you those those parameters because they said those parameters or they just repeating parameters that someone else has told them and if in most cases someone has already told the person you're talking to will bikes you want it next year. This is how much money we will spend. And this is what we're gonna use it on. Those values have been set by someone other in a lot of someone other than who you're talking to. So and what created us values. Well what created those values is the person has a predetermined idea of what value that solution is going to bring to our business unit so by getting access to that person who created the values. Not the person who has the ability to stay within those values in issue a purchase order but actually talking one level or two levels deeper to the person that set of values. Well if i can increase the value that you had set on dissolution then we can move the time line up and weakened make Here and so your approach was more to work on the bigger deals or did you work exclusively on the bigger deals it. My approach was that every deal had the potential to be a big deal. And so i. I had a nice steady died of small medium and large. But believe me. If i'm talking to you and your budget's fifty thousand dollars. I'm not convinced it's two thousand dollars yet I wanna make sure that that fifty thousand dollars is accurate based on the problems that we're going to saw and so i'm always just making sure that that you and your team is in alignment with what the value add of. These solutions really are going to bring to the table. Because if you you think this is the value and i don't challenge that thinking or that mindset will then fifty thousand dollars is what it is so i'm always challenging myself and in other areas other than what the rep believes or when you teach wraps what are you. See them. Not doing most often. Well i think what i see. A lot of is that we As cells professionals we adopt mindsets that are industry standards and as a result in as a result in a lot of cases were slowing down the cells Opportunity worthy the one creating the bottlenecks. And i'll give you an example one of the things that you hear in this industry is people buy from who they trust..

"All that happened. Ben and jerry's was we we said. Yeah we're going to be political and but we're going to be over honest and instead of doing it just in our own narrow self interest. We're going to do it for the interests of the community. As a whole yeah. I years ago. I met with a guy who started an organization called represent. Us got eighty percent bipartisan support. The whole point is to get corporate money out of elections and the information that they provided the public. It's wild coast at an event for them and it was wild. See how shocked people were about how much corporate money goes into politics..

"It's wonderful to have you with us. And i hope you're doing well no matter where you are on this big wide wonderful world of ours and thank you so very much for supporting the show because it's making all of the difference knowing that it is making a difference for you now. Speaking about making a difference. I'm on the line. With master consultant. Marketer jerry fletcher open to the show. Jerry thank you so much appreciate being here now. You just touched on the fact that we haven't had too many conversations on the show to do with consultant marketing. And we're going to obviously explore that jerry bed the best best-placed i always like to start off is not in the business space. It's more about the person behind the business because at the end of the day. That's what runs business isn't it sure is look with that being said i'd love to stop way. Where where are you located. Well most of nitel. I tell people that. I'm i'm located just south of portland oregon in the united states where the sidewalk runs out. So i wanted to give the sidewalk runs at jerry's or any major landmarks at anybody might be familiar with it. Well i'm literally. I live in a place called charbonneau which is just south of the river of south of a little town called wilsonville. It's actually if you imagine a gated community without gates. That's sort of what we have here. Fantastic when you're when you're relaxing jerry. Di di much that you're interested in what what you think. What are you let. Today i used to like going out and hiking and walking in and getting about covance kind of shut that down. Oh yeah. I've become much of a homebody so these days it's what can we whip up in the kitchen that we've never done now saying found that a new thing you very good at kicking a cooking. Let's put it this way you you just open the refrigerator door and you say can you fix anything for what's in there and i guarantee i will pick something off lot made at. Do you follow any sports. I'm american football fan. I because i spoken on on three continents. I've learned the difference between saying football and american football difference. But i'm also a football fan and we have a couple of marvelous professional teams here in portland. there's a marvelous. You can't get tickets to them. Oh well you know you touched on something that we're all experiencing in need during. I guess you'd call it now with the pandemic. I'd love to talk about how that's affecting business and in terms of i guess the way that you deliver your services and technology that you might be using all that sort of wonderful stuff later in the call we might. But what did you enjoy doing the most when you were growing up jerry. Oh growing up And there's good reason for asking. I did like to play golf. And i still would like to play golf. But i've got two bad knees so basically for me. I just can't do it anymore. I mean it. Professional speaker walking through airports is some like the bataan death march can imagine. Oh yeah you doing much. Given the covert situation you guess you fed. It will static in one location at the moment. Well pretty much in my office. I live in a condo..
"jerry" Discussed on Around the Horn
"You. How'd you hear jerry jones there. I don't hear anything. those were you can. Just take that quote and throw it in the trash because it doesn't mean anything right now. Dallas is slated to pick third and we can talk about what that means because it has massive ramifications for the future franchise if they're picking near the top of the draft. I believe personally. If they're picking third they should stick with deck potentially trade down if another team wants to trade up take quarterback there because after trevor lawrence and justin fields. You're just praying that whatever quarterback you take in the draft even comes close to dak prescott. It's too risky. As a franchise. That has had a lot of difficulty finding quarterbacks by the way they looked into debt prescott now if they pick first or second. That's when it gets a little bit more interesting right because those quarterbacks are very good. You'd have the rookie deal. That's very alluring. My feeling is that if the cowboys can extend back on a reasonable deal and get a massive picks. That's something they should consider. Instead of taking fields are lawrence first or second. they're sticking with deck page. How did you hear jerry jones. Their minimus not have been around when they made that deal involving herschel walker. That's not happening again. In the cowboys franchise history but if they did get the first or second pick. I think that they should consider that possibility of moving. Because they're going to have to with dad coming back from a horrific and guy that's going to get paid just two hundred fifty million dollars like patrick mahomes. You have to end up paying him that. I think that it's a possibility that if you could get fields if you get. He had make the move. I mean you gotta remember jerry jones history though he wanted to draft paxton lynch. That's what he wanted. And he ended up with dak prescott who fell into his lap. So i don't think it's so crazy that the question should be asked israel gutierrez. Had you hear jerry jones there. I think you might have shorted patrick. Mahomes by about one hundred and fifty million there. I heard guy. And i read the great column from jean taylor. The dallas morning news. I read a column. Excuse me. I thought jerry jones seemed delusional. I thought he seemed like the leader of a stable franchise. That's ready to win a super bowl. They are none of those things they are a franchise that seems to have a lot of holes to fill. And when you're in that situation what's your options being. Hey let me pay forty million dollars for this quarterback that we have and see if we can fill the holes around him or start over with cheaper quarterback and see what happens. I think they are closer to that. Despite the fact they're in this terrible division despite the fact they were good not too long ago. But you're in a situation where you don't know if dak prescott can be the same person next season and if they do have the one or two even the third pick. It just feels false for them. What falls to that number. What are they calling. Justin feels a more athletic dak prescott so go get that guy. He's cheaper more athletic younger. And then sort of rebuild from there. I don't think it's crazy. Okay and fred guy sola you know the green bay packers drafted a quarterback Just recently and they and their quarterback. Aaron rodgers isn't recovering from a compound fracture. So how can you be the cowboys. And it's something that you don't consider a bomb jerry jones and you asked me that question today. I'm not gonna say of course looking for a quarterback my poor guy. Dak prescott is recovering. I'm not gonna make them feel even worse. But you have to be doing the smart thing here. If there's somebody in the draft that doesn't necessarily have to be in the first round some of that you think could lead your franchise you have to do it. I liked that prescott. I think you remember. He's one in two in the playoffs in last year against philadelphia essentially a plane game. He didn't play well. I mean a calm something you said well to go to the packers example. There is a very big difference between picking first second third and peaking at the end of the draft. Frank you're saying if they're picking later maybe that's when they would take a quarterback but we're talking about the at the top that would be frankly banana pi. I honestly i don't like the packers did it. I don't think it's helping friendly part in the taking that out a little bit further recently. Arizona drafted a quarterback in the first round one year the next year. They'd come back drafted a quarterback in the first round. And now they're at least for the play offs. I mean it didn't bottom team out either. I mean things crazy things could happen especially this year more than any other. We're gonna move on news.

"Completely and the antithesis of what we've known you to be throughout your career as owner of the Dallas cowboys spending more than thirty years all of a sudden somebody totally new that's a bit ambiguous lacking definitive. That's a problem that is a problem well. He started out by saying that these are tricky times basically and what Not The exact word to use. But what he meant was how? One, hundred and nine days. Tricky tonight alien instead of time, there's a difference. There's what sensitive times yeah. And so he's getting he thinks sensitively meaning not making definitive statements that will take anyone off and cost him money. There's a different Stephen with a guy like Jerry Jones where you know that is so the guiding principle that wherever he was yesterday if there's money to be made today, he'll change his mind. It's very different like what's really in his heart right? Like why can't it's different than a guy say like Snyder who seemed to have intentions whatever the economic. Benefit or he was okay. Alienating some people because he really believed something until the economic pressure got unbearable the financial pressure got unbearable. Then finally he was forced to change that doesn't seem to me to be Jerry Jerry's calculation seems to be at all times. How do I not alienate anyone? So this kind of wish year, but you're talking about Jerry non statement statement was predictable. You're talking about Jerry I'm talking about the players he controls by dictating how they will act. If he did not do that I wouldn't be saying anything about Jerry Jones. But when you say if you go do something, you need to do it as a team and Oh, by the way, if you do something a team, it better be this because we OUGHTA Dallas cowboys and we will not disrespect the flag and we will not do this. You're not speaking about just yourself. You're speaking about a plethora of African Americans who you employ and you are dictating how they will behave. All I'm saying is if you do that this break don't go silent. That players and not just about you the owners and Jerry Jones has much less actual. Power over the players behavior in that respect and I think the players realized if you're especially the good players, if you're a good player and you defy in owners. Mandate someone else will give you the same money. He's giving you and I think maybe some of the mayor's starting to realize that. To celebrate State Forum surprisingly great rates. We gave his song surprisingly greatly looks. Brass's Bantus pug you. Said now, process rouses Brad's you just.

"Him in the media for being this monster and putting his monster content but. In reality he's just going home at night and caring for his daughter. But by then his popularity skyrocketed. So they wanted to make moves anchor again for the ratings. And this girl this girl this woman. Let me say woman I'm sorry to call you girga. Childbirth. Carol Marie she got tight and pull the Caribou. She started protesting Jerry on the. She shared his views none as you want him to be there at all. So. He started. Now he he was more likely take her shine. You know what I mean to. Bullying in our spot. Territory wasn't making no views so he had to come in today. Known I mean somebody's gotTa do it and you're not doing your job. The fact. Too Because I. Is that'd be happening but nobody pays attention to. The no matter what position said the bosses don't fuck you. He stays. The ratings. So she quit. But Jerry was hurt to us. You know what I mean 'cause he's not. He's just being himself. He's planning view stuff out there. So people view it. Doesn't matter what it is. You do what you WANNA do. You want to do. Well. He couldn't do everything you know could be everybody at once. So he stopped being the broadcast. Just went back. To show you by ninety eight, he was beating Oprah, like I said, he was number one for twenty five weeks in a row. Loose. The Monday night raw talk shows to see all that shit. She was seen in forty countries twenty, five, million people a week. New. Role. It's appealing you have a wild show and you have to. Know what I mean and you throw your little one off jokes. So you get your comedy off to nobody ever tried to press Jerry you know what I'm saying like. Nobody mess with Jerry also because he had Jerry's kids. No. Excuse me Jerry's kids. That's what they call. Steve all of them..

"So even if you turn off the sound, you know what you're watching and you know Kinda was good knowing was going on. Yeah. So apparently, he was the first one who that. Today's on. Today's Oh. That's what this is about. Not a lot of stuff. Well you'll be saying. Much in every episode. Episode. Before you get here from now on. By now. Jerry ready had the tools that he needed to succeed for show. He was a frats in high school. So he knew all too well about strippers things of that nature you know what I mean. He paid prostitutes checks. First hand he knew about. His. First couple from people that he knew array the more than likely. Just, from his encounters alone zag yo Yo. So bad. That's the new direction they decided to go in. sexier more edgy and the ratings skyrocketed. Like Yeah like. Ninety five. Well, they'll save when you appeal to kinda demographic in the stunts lake that. was. Everything's kind of OCOEE. and. We grew up in that that rare era because now everybody's all heard about everything. That's affected. By ninety five safe to say, he had the attention he wanted. He knew sex and violence was the answer to everything. That's what put on TV I sit. That lawyer. From, the government office. That's what I intend to. But all ready know what popularity comes controversy. Started saying that not all his guests. Popularity comes controversy. I didn't mean more money more problems. Put those goalies you don't compare every. fucking busy smalls. I didn't just see. Say controversy creates cash. Say More money more problems. Now four that's not what I said right now we don't do. It sounded like the compares you. I to say right now, I'm just saying when the winds where his popularity. There came controversy this is and they're saying that not all his guests were real. What do you mean that they might have been scripted like WWe People. Gave that's what they're saying. For the show. And you try to hug her husband or actually that we'll give you. Kiss that was your cousin. Shall like that. He's paying. I don't know if that's what he was saying. That was just A. Time. That was the controversy but finally by ninety six, he was the king of daytime talk. He beat out Oprah. Let's Jerry. He didn't get a car. On our he got more than that. He got the attention of the people. He was on. That's all he needed. Everybody knew who he was. He was a household name just off guests like which who call number earlier. Tournaments. Yes. The transgender population. He had cheaters on their. He had little people you know what I mean. There was always action when you when you flip through the channel. Yeah everyday. But Jerry never once lost his cool. He always remained himself. Until time before on Dr Evil. He did he got into a lot of TV shows and stuff. His audience seventy percent audience for three years top five by ninety seven. With the politicians like always trying to blame him for Shit. Like you're the reason why society is this way?.

"Despite his personal life, his career popularity was skyrocketing. He won ten emmys after that. By Ninety One NBC gave his own talk show. Remember. Phil Donahue. It was right after Phil Donahue was going to air. So they put him in there like a mock Phil Donahue. They were trying to make him to vote on you know what I mean. So they played this off road. Little Touchy feely exposes known I mean nothing too big troubled teams. Things of that nature stuff. We used to do stuff like that Manteo. Trouble teams and style. Although. Stuff like that Lake Maury. So he took that route for a few years, the show was bland at best. The topics of the show they were like they took a safe road like I said. But you know Jerry. Jerry. Jerry show took a new direction. They went. They went to Chicago. So it left Jerry Commute because he was still working for the the news cast in Ohio. So he would commute. In the morning to do the show for Jerry and Dan at night for. For. The newscast. So. He was working. He said it got to be too much. So you left the newscast he just focused on the show. So around this time has show started kicking up a little bit more note I mean it was ninety three by this time so. Well. Just before. Just. Before he started with the crazy topics because it was slipping. The ratings were slipping. How they did it nobody. Was At that point. To talk show business he was just known to be this anchor local anchors local politician. He wasn't known on a national scale yet. So he moved to. Chicago In, Ninety four, the original show's producer burt dubrow will replace by former supermarket tabloid writer. He was the show producer. Richard Dominick. He's the one. Right when it all started to get juicy because I think it said. Like Right when they started having those like those ratio episodes with violent started is when he took over. So he wanted Jerry to be more Jerry because he knew he jerry was Jerry was. The Guy who sits in the back. The Share. He took over. And he notorious despite in in ratings for the for the violence that took on for those couple episodes and he also noticed that Jerry could be a star if he just was himself. That's what he wanted to focus on. Was Smart. That was playing. Everybody is doing. Must Be. Some Gabba even Jerry was skeptical at first because when the first couple of episodes of violence happy was like you know this unacceptable. On. The show. Yeah But the they needed to exploit the show's new file violence and ordered to make ratings. So he decided that they go after a little demographic that he likes to call the letterman crowd. The college, kids. At that time body was making anything for them especially on daytime television you know. So what are they gonNA do between classes they're going to go home and watch oprah. Falsely. Bucks. During a book club they now there's No Way, and any college kids are watching. TV Right now. It's we show on daytime television so smart. So he focused more on the violence, but you know it's still really didn't win over. You, know what I mean there was something missing. He needed to be sexier and. They need to know who Jerry Springer was. So the first thing they did was put his name on the show..

"Springer being an anti war democrat. He introduced an ordinance to make it illegal for Cincinnati residents to serve in undeclared wars because the US never declared war in Vietnam. Emotion lost by he gained popularity because you know controversy creates cash. Yes. We know always always. He did a lot of publicity stunts after that like spending the night in jail, try to push prisoners rights. So he was. Already, into controversy into media charged stirred things up making. Out The. He was you have to be you know what I mean. That's the only way to get somewhere life. He was dating Margaret Beltran for Awhile and they got married in June sixteen, Seventy three. So he paid for sex with checks. Sex which ex sex, which sex sex which checks. Switch axe. So he didn't care deposits six out he yeah they were. either. The way it got seized either way so they weren't getting it anyway. But still found by then he. Had A big head he thought he was. Important. So he took action straightaway. Got Did it so. That was a commercial. act. With this lady and I paid her with something. I didn't write it down because it was too funny for me. There was no way I was going to be able to to reiterate that. At. Cincinnati. put them through the ringer after that. They hate him for a while. But you know that they started loving him they started rubbing about it. We we'll do. Little. Interviews and stuff they would tell them a still writing checks. Jerry. You. Always to Own. Your own home me. Stop It. Checks. He did the only thing that he's always done that he used the publicity at ran for mayor and he won he was inaugurated as Cincinnati's youngest. Law, to live seventy six. Eighty one he wanted a bigger stage and he resigned to run for the governor of Ohio but only came third. That summer he retired from politics. Broke he was broke. It wasn't really making money from me. Wholesome campaigns. He had a daughter. They had a daughter and she was she was born. Legally blind she was deaf in one ear and she was born without nostrils. Nasal passageways. So they did the surgery to fix that but there wasn't much else and he was. If nothing. Else, he was devoted father so. He needed to make a living so he quit politics. But then he had all the networks reach out to him. He they wanted him to be a news anchor. So, of course, you're GonNa go to go where the big bucks I'm GonNa, take it. They. I'm not going but I would. I wanted to ask. People are stupid. Life is dumb. It would be nice if he could get over and you guys could hang out if he could get over his last name. That was very buddy. Why because name's Costanza took his name. Yeah that's funding worth one hundred million dollars. It's it's definitely not that's crazy. That's like a joke number. Yeah okay well. We've wasted everybody's time enough. I know but we've got a couple more minutes. Is there anything that we will just kick ourselves? We didn't if we didn't ask to take a moment again about your parents like what they were like cal. No Mark told us. My Dad was insanely funny. Insanely funny stuff. Joke jokes and in the army had a metal box. You can imagine what jokes were in the army. You know was Outrageous survived. You know. Everybody knew millions of jokes and he had a box and he had them all in a file and but both of my parents were orphans. And they both got yeah. They both got married very late in life. Orphans like they were. They grew up in an orphanage. An orphanage part company like we've spent a lot of time together that we know like nothing about talk about jokes. Okay so so you as you might imagine they were very independent self sufficient people and I got that gene. You know just like. Don't you know my dad never worked for anybody? Couldn't he had his own little business but they were both like that. They were just very resilient independent freedom independence and freedom was like. That's the greatest thing you can happen. That's impressive it's just the It's kind of respect for the difficulty of of comedy. You know just so difficult. I heard stories. Somebody told me today but a navy seal them at this Super Navy seal guy and they asked him When did you know you wanted to be a navy seal? And he said you don't WanNa be a navy seal You are navy seal. You WANNA BE FORGET IT. You have no chance right. Yes Yeah. Sounds hotter the navy seal. Yeah but I I know I do feel like when I started when I wanNA talk trash about. Someone's act do realize like you know everything I do. I'm disgusted by as soon as I've done it. You know it's just looking at a pile of your own dumb headshots right now on a swing because photographer told me in photo shoots like have people always tried to make you like hold the chicken or no. Oh really chicken own horrible thing. That's I guess the Kathy Griffin Story. When when you realize when you think you have to listen to photographers that is such a sad. That is a real. Do you have anyone that you check in with you. Run jokes past George Wallace or anybody like that. No no no donny okay. So George Wasser areas comedian. How did you guys meet just doing stand up? Just hanging around the bars in the in the mid seventies and Just a great guy funny guy. And he's what's He's had some fashion moments over face. And sometimes I I'll say to him God. All those people we started out with was like the beginning of the New York marathon on the verizon and what happened and and He said and he said to me in this was really true. He says they weren't there at the beginning. What do you mean they? Just those there. Are Those people that are there that this is it you know I am? This is this is that I don't know what it was like when you started when I started. If people came in four nights a week it was a quit now. I know you need to be getting at least every night and you know and yeah I mean we would go years without a night off. Here's to New York comics when it came from Philly Philly and eighty four. We only had two open mics Wednesday and Thursday so when guys from New York came through there was sharp. Yeah right but that's what I saw in mark when we met that night. Oh He's one of the IGUANAS those lizards. He's one with the prairie. He's not going anywhere and such a perfect mental illness. Stay and this visit passed around quite a bit over the course of these many years. I've been doing this. I haven't met a lot of them. It's true it's weird. I was like mark. Let's go in that respect for comedy and that and he didn't have that like I should be headlining. You know right out the gate and I should you know very What still no. No that's good. You know I was doing this show in London the couple of months ago and I was talking to Jim Gaffe again and he was in Spain. And I'm going. I need a WHO who I said who should get to open the show. He's yeah that's that's that's GONNA fly up from Spain just to hang out and do sets for nothing hanging spinner. He was doing shows where Barcelona Well Barth is working on this for an Amazon. I one this is really funny. That's the first one. How do you know why he knew he runs the numbers? Your instincts not question mark. He doesn't need the audience. They need him more but it clearly works and I think the reason it works is because sitcoms are so bad the negative things anymore dimension of Performer. Sitcom so bad. It's gotten so much difficult. Why to chart the culture? We did my show in the nineties. It was so easy to make fun of things so easy. You just knew what to do. You know the angle you're GonNa take and you know what that's going to be fresh and it's going to be you know exactly where their head is that we don't know we're anybody's head. Is that now in terms of in terms of three hundred million people. Where's their head at a while? They've never seen some this happened. They've never seen in all the silly stuff we did. We just knew well. No one ever did that. That'll get him all right. Let's see what other questions I wrote. I have a question because I think you're a really great data around your kiss and sausage just left for college and I'm just wondering like where you like a little puddle like what was it like for your total puddle. Everybody was. He's a special kid. She's really smart and then asked falling apart there in the moment. When you're saying goodbye in always I said so. You'll be okay right. Yeah like the most casual question kind of North American University. I think I'll be all right. Should stay here for a while but I do get the question a lot and I always say that. It's kind of like if you found a little baby alligator and you put it in your tub and you think Oh look at this. Look at this little bite teeth. Look at this. Little teeth is so cute. And then some time goes by and you go. You know I think we gotta get this thing. The Hell Outta here needs to go be murdering and eating other living thing. Do they come? Watch your kids yeah? They've seen me. There's nothing do is anything to go to work. I said I'm going out. I got to go to work. He says you'll be back at eight thirty and I go. Oh see the hundred meters Olympics. It's only ten seconds. That's would you say kids like give you the most consistent joy like or maybe eighty or creativity that is felled even frustrated creativity in other words. Just putting yourself in a place where you have to come up with. Something is the only air that we have. Yeah everything else is just. It's not good. And what's your favorite part of? It is the creating it the working on it or the finished product that you can go like. I did none none of that. None of all of it. It just doesn't matter it doesn't matter I'll get over. You have to get over being actually productive. That's the first thing you you gotta forget about. What do you use it down? You'd like sit down you sit down to work. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA try and come up with something about that joke. That doesn't work that doesn't have an ending. Just let's let's work on that. Yeah and and I was doing that before the Sitcom when we got the Sitcom. It was nothing to me. I I've been looking at blank pages for fifteen years. I knew you know okay. We need a funny conversation. And these guys sit down. Yeah okay you know I was used to that I don't know how Comedians who don't do any sort of formal work would write a script. I think that's why they get into that situation. When we've got a couple of producers and they're going to handle the scrimmage no no no you handle handle at best writer in the room right yeah and if your tastes your tastes that matters one of my favorite days of my life. So far was last summer. I was like do you want to go over. The jokes were working on and we just sat in the room and we smoked cigars. And I mean you also got rid of about fifteen minutes of my act like he's like no and also my my closer my special. You know that was Jerry. Ameline those oh I tried it and I was like an A. Became my closer ever go after they see it they go that lining Jerry. I show one time in like I wasn't really working and you're like in my dressing room is just meeting for the first time and you gave me like the fix and I was like this is so great. It's backed out. I still remember you need to always report. Maybe our branch so so if you if we don't sit down that day we don't get.

"And is you elliot in the grand scheme of things is small potatoes you think jerry jones is going through the legal were small potatoes right no listen will i think the one thing that we're not talk when i talk how dave i'm talking about a guy who wasn't afraid to go against the league get out of here in georgia is definitely not a free to go against but again listen on we'll have to agree will will give the power that jerry jones wars is is just unquestioning in this particular situation the way logical deal is handled the protest what do you think is ready to roll the the domestic violence ct this love these things been chipping away at the lee the league has been reactive not pull active in getting ahead of things so we look at the totality of all these days what you see is a li they're slowly diminishing slowly coming down on earth the owners again they're concerned about the bottom dollar yes you do you gotta you gotta check the mayor they're still there foot man four for the other owners and i think that's what jerry joe's large shareholder feels the sea always doing a bad job exact worth the businesses even in declined he doesn't even think the ceos doing a bad job but someone's got to be held responsible it's usually the ceo jerry jones is an enormous shareholder and a huge corporation and he's going after the ceo because he sees trouble on the horizon jerry jones has a famous saying don't let your money get mad stephen eight you're suggesting when you point see clearly it as the sole cars or the primary cars that he's let his money get mad i'm not telling you he's not mad and i'm not telling you zeke suspension doesn't play a role in it but it's part of the pie they have hired billionaires who has spent minimum hundreds of millions of dollars in some cases billions on buying a business point to the mandate asked to step forward take the bullets solve the problems in do what they say and they've looked at this past year and said.

"List pump the brakes maybe we need to put this guy and chick jerry jones is in the same move as his mentor el davis al davis was considered a maverick in the nfl you know as far as always concern costly soon in a failed charlie gave that powell jerry jones along the same line this is a guy that since he became only he's always been kind of unconditional but an in a great way whether this marketing of doing individual sponsorships flick dallas cowboys which what a ton of money which you know intern tokyo vehicles four sponsor sponsorships with concern this is clearly again this is about jerry jones trying to flex its muscle why year to either put blood commissino listed we are the boss you're you're employee or to move off from logical dale and put somebody else employees that will do their bidding that's what the oldest oil above all about power money stephen first of all a first of all damien are appreciate you agree with me because obviously i said that jerry jones of trying to flex its muscle now let me give back to will came bravo will congratulations you know maybe i should call you captain obvious huda held does it know it's about power huda note at the question was what is going on with jolt and the nf l emanating off the reports that he's contemplating suing the national football league so obviously what with the owners have always been about power they've always been about money do we need to regurgitate how many times on this very show this very platform we've discussed how the owners also about their money they'll do anything these are the same group of dudes that got two hundred forty six million dollars a piece.

"Some owners don't want to pay him a whole lot maybe it's a negotiating stance maybe it's leverage eight shit c h it by the way that that's okay that you put on the table that you can take off all cave you know you negotiate the salary hey we don't believe in what you hear anyway we're gandhi jerry jones doesn't want him they're period and the exhibit yield elliot situation is a good enough excuse or maybe left the catalyst that sets it all off with there's a host of other reason i said as a as i mentioned earlier the hiring of boys as an attorney by jerry jones is interesting to me and perhaps instructive and leo iran we're going to get back into this topic at m a bring up some of those facts then well you got all were you you you got a lot of ifs and your argument inaki respect that but the bottom line is you've got to ask yourself how much respect you have fought adam schefter nyquist points it particularly adam schefter at the time months ago when we were talking about roger goodell 's contract extension adam schefter went on national television and essentially said hey roger goodell is in the midst of getting ready to sign an extension it's going to extend him for years to come in the bottom line is is that clearly the owners want him to be there commissioner it's pretty much a foregone conclusion amac warning him directly paraphrasing here he basically said hey it's a foregone conclusion that rosica does gonna be the commissioner for years and years to come probably into the year 2024 stuff that around that time so what i'm saying to you is how do we give from there to here there's only one explanation and that is that jerry jones has an ax to grind there's no other way around the because everything else that you bring up max is valid as it may be.

"The court cutters young generation getting stuff online and all kinds of reasons for a host of reasons ratings are down and that includes the nfl's tv rate so anyway all this falls under the auspices of of the ceo of the company right whether or not he has control over all these things or should be blamed for everything a large stakeholder jerry jones is saying stuff is a lot of stuff is happening that i'm nervous about a lot of stuff is happening i'm not crazy about and ultimately the buck stops with the ceo well and that's roger goodell what max let me ask you this question are you saying that that's more of an issue rather than jr roger goodell exacting a sixgame suspension or try to exact a sixgame suspension against zeke you'll elliott is that what you're saying well i think that your right to identify the kill elliott situation of course but my point is that may be the straw that broke the camel's back but it is an adding up of certain circumstances and situation well that i don't think jones likes the way goodell handled and this is the latest example well let me be direct i don't think that you're wrong about what thing in terms of it adding up but what i'm saying is there would be no jerry jones threatening to sue the nfl if it were not for roger goodell handed down a sixgame suspension ezekiel elliott that's where i'm going with this i'm not saying that anything that you're saying is off kilter i understand that those a valid points that you're making my point is it still would it be a situation where we're sitting here talking about jerry jones potentially threatening to sue the national football league.
