"You know so. I don't see now if you could get chris carpenter to manage to coach and that'd be a great get car has some really interesting traits. We saw what he did on the field. You know i'm saying. Saudi did eleven in the world series. Great career prior to that but just a leader in every sense of the word players gravitated toward him when he spoke people listening. You know he's kinda got that commanding personality. You mentioned the game changing and get a little bit younger and and a little bit more. Flashy you know it. It's tony gonna have the ability to change. You know if you bring in. Chris rock and they're going to have the ability to change. Because it's not what it was five ten fifteen twenty years ago you know as far as the players expressing themselves differently and and the unwritten rules are starting erase as we've all seen so i think there's gonna be some give and take on both sides. Motorist this marriage to work. But i do think it's environmental higher anytime you can bring on and tony larussa. I think i think he gotta do. Y'all honestly i'm still just before and a few interviews talking about this. He's the greatest baseball mind. I've ever been around and i mentioned some pretty good ones and it's taking nothing away from the guys. I played for because they're all phenomenal managers but he just was excellent in a lot a lot of areas. That's really interesting.

"It costs we're gonna keep this together he could have stepped in and of course kept some thing going and decided not to so Reinsdorf is not without blame here but Jerry Reinsdorf is speaking a truth that I keep hammering and I feel like so many people have ignored it this was an entertaining documentary that really was a Michael's narrative and not the actual truth this all sounds great in Michael's mind and helps continue his legacy all these little things of this slight sin the motivations and the controversies in his stories all fit well with his legacy bubble but every time that there's somebody to Calgary it was on camera I would have like Jerry Reinsdorf asked were you willing to give one year deals to everybody because here he would have said it was gonna happen Michael I had conversations he knew we could run it back and this is what I believe did Michael Jordan saw the fallout with Phil knew that Scotty would have never signed for a one year deal knew that Robert is at the very end of his career he was only gonna play in thirty five more games total in his career after that year and said we're not going to be very good so I'm not coming back for that I think he knew that he knew Steve Kerr wasn't taking a one year deal he knew will gladly wasn't taking a one year deal long we got paid by the sons he knew Scott he was gone the second best player the team Scotty the third best player the team is robin one guy's one foot out the two feet out the door the other guys cooked and he's going to decide to come back no he knew it was gonna be a good team which is why fill with everything have a Jerry Krause was gonna come back and Mike would like I'm not coming back for a rebuild team I'm not coming back for a pseudo good team and there's no way to keep this thing together so I'm gonna I'm exhausted I'm good but now Michael twenty two years later says I want to keep playing I want to go after number seven we should have kept it all together and I just think that this is the this keeps happening it's people that were part of the story is going that's not the way it went down it's not the way that happened this was Michael's vanity project which was a wildly entertaining documentary which reasserts of as the greatest of all time I'm telling you the truth I believe is the greatest of all time but it was ten hours of this is Michael story and we're sticking to it I mean whereas wind surf right here says that's not the way it happened but I'm not gonna go into it because those are private conversations but here's the other problem I have with it right on the documentary so he I mean unless it was completely chopped off him talking about this and treated C. Jordan's answer to it it's it's not it's not as if one of these other guys could you know who wasn't even asked to be on it I guess wars great was is to be on a but he was kind of brass before that Scotty was in it Rodman was it yeah Kerr was in it Reinsdorf was in it all of those guys could have been asked the very direct question would you have come back in a one year deal none of them were asked that question because it was Michael story not the real stores so I was anti your stance on Monday and hearing everybody come out about it I guess we give you credit the A. because you have been on this train for three weeks and I sniffed it and now it's funny that now that it's over people have the same problem with people over in the documentary that you have had with the from the beginning and I guess yeah that's my point is runs over him that way or if the all these probably come out Horace grant Reinsdorf why if they were given access to do this and it was like they were not asked to be on it why aren't they being asked the questions to go back and forth on it now a little debate Jordan is Jordan that shallower soft that he can't be challenged on anything to kind of you know have a little give and take on some of the stuff that's a good question I don't know I don't know why he refused to allow any counter arguments they did allow at least Horace grant to say I wasn't this next that was about the closest we got to anybody countering the truth that that Michael put out there now the filmmaker didn't do Reinsdorf any favors because they could at least half price or pay why did you let things get so bad between Krause and Phil beat writer basically throws up his hands and I don't know it was it was beating Krause and Phil Jerry and fill Jerry this Jerry that you'll run Jeff could have over he could have overwhelmed all those situations by firing Jerry Krause or staying no Phyllis coming back or whatever so he said he's to the sidelines too and they should a grilled Reinsdorf on that no I don't I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of how this was laid out but I was under the impression because we keep getting Jordan handed the iPad repair press play that they interviewed everybody else and then the interview Georgia Jordan had literally the final word I mean was it in the contract of running this out that Jason here couldn't go back to any of these guys with what George said in an event I put it after the fact or is it just because now that put you working to get Jordan again Jordan needed that the last word well they sat down with Michael three different times my guess is they sat down with everybody else wants so here's just how I think it went down the interview Michael the first time he is this the first interview then they going get everybody else's interviews and then they fill in the responses with Michael the second to sit down so my guess is Michael gets to have the last word because he was the last one to be able to see everybody else's interview when they when they presented it to him yeah I mean either way then I I think that I kinda sort of tongue in cheek I would love now kind of like an this is totally off base not tongue in cheek I thought the same thing I would like a follow up series made by the independent filmmaker the guy's not include Michael Jordan to have the other side of the story is told okay so perfect example this I know this is gonna sound crazy people's heads are gonna explode this happened with tiger king during quarantine right tiger King got released and everyone crazy about it with the whole you know Joe exotic everything and I forgot who was one of the Joel McHale who ended up hosting and getting everybody back after the story was told it was shown to keep everybody's real side of their story about how this was painted on the documentary and I thought it was a very nice our watch words like okay so that's how they really thought about this that's how they really thought about this and now it's about freakin tiger king I mean we I'm sure if all these guys are chomping at the bit of radio shows you have to get somebody else does it get attention here cleared out and I just said you could call something else called the fat chance called something like that I just counted the buckle of this and by the way you throw that on Netflix Hulu whatever we're gonna watch you could go to people just wash away the stench I would agree I would love to see that I would love to see that now I just want to ask you Meretz headed field interview Jessie Armstead from your beloved two thousand York giants it was awesome it was really awesome I'm glad I got to do that and I think this segment has been a great idea and you know as we said we were around these athletes receive come in the studio all the time but there is something to be said for that one team that was really special to you you know OJ gives a special to me but there's something about the two thousand giants always resonate with me I think it's a fact that it was the first humbling experience I had with one of my teams making a big stage and losing money I have been obsessed with that team I have gone back and you too bye rewatch that season numerous times going through games it is a hundred percent my favorite guy team of all time so to not get the obvious like Hey I talk to take your time which is still a thrill for me to get a Jessie Armstead who I've never talked to my wife who I obviously loved in a need Dort everything they brought the table was so cool and so thrilling it thank you for the opportunity no no no problem it was really cool and both must been really fun for you to be talked to Mike Richter yesterday about the cop yeah there's so many good choices for that ranger team to between him and Messi a leeches just you know legendary players but rectors awesome he's super nice and it was just even before having money here yesterday just like texting with Mike Richter and like Richter calling me back and see my phone buzzed with Mike Richter I pretty awesome books as our final headlines of the morning what we got here well before I can I sneak into a last dance question for you because I was thinking it as you just talk shorts on a second ago in retrospect now would you have preferred them to basically ignore all of these controversial targets and just given us ten episodes of recap of that season and the whole thing or is it better that they tried and failed to address some of these things no the way that they did it what the storytelling was right it was great I think a lot of people have problems with jumping back and forth with a timeline but aside from that you told the story with interpersonal connections and these vignettes and these episodes that wasn't just a direct let's go back and relive just just the game so they did a great job of storytelling which made it totally engaging it was great but they just needed counter to Michael's version of the event so when Michael says axe we have somebody to say no why happened or we when Michael says Hey there somebody to say but I believe B. happened and then it would have made a full body documentary to wear yes Michael has the most Voisey said he's the central figure but that there are other versions of the story because without that it just becomes Michael's auto biotic it's just it's it's his autobiography essentially and there are so many questionable incidents that makes a compelling theater that to only have his version makes it just two dimensional and whether it was we've gone through the list them so I'm not gonna bore everybody again but they're just like five different things in this that you just needed somebody to say yeah but here's my version that's not necessarily how went down to make at least feel like okay there's two sides of the stories so now your headlines they're sponsored by ace hardware stay in and grill out with free assembly delivery and "One thousand three one two three three two three seven seven six Brad in a spirited and fun debate after Jerry Reinsdorf spoke to the great KC Johnson of NBC sports Chicago and said he was not happy with the way it was portrayed in the end of the episode ten of the last dance where I disagree with Chris is Chris you say that they didn't want Michael I disagree I think they did want Michael I think Phil was walking he was having a marital issue which led to a divorce I think less than a year later he took that entire year off in Montana and he wasn't coming back now Josh did Jerry Reinsdorf tell Michael Jordan picked the coach or you got to play for Tim Floyd I haven't heard any answer to that I would love to know if he said Michael pick your coach Phil's not coming back because according to this article Jerry twice tried to get Phil to come back and fill said no so I would love to know which he told you have to play for Tim Floyd to be an interesting answer to that one so explain this to me than cap explain the end of the most of the documentary then so Jordan's not being truthful yeah I don't I I do not believe it went down like Michael says it went out because Phil was not coming back he was trying to save his marriage he was never going to coach that team but let me ask you a question you keep saying Phil was not coming back had Jerry Krause never burn that bridge had Jerry Krause never made him beg for one year contracts every year had Jerry Krause never met the median said he can go eighty two and he's not coming back had at Jerry Krause acted like a professional right maybe still would have come back but you keep saying Phil wouldn't of come back I don't blame still for at that point being done with the Chicago Bulls organization the way he was treated but had Jerry Krause acted like a general manager should be acting maybe still would've come back like I think that needs to be said yeah and I don't disagree with you I said earlier when we started the show Jerry Krause allowing this us against them you know really rough relationship to faster like you did absolutely played a role absolutely I agree a hundred percent and that is where I believe Jerry Reinsdorf should have stepped in four years earlier and said no no no no no I'm gonna get you to a room or working this out now I also find it interesting in Ramona's article that Phil said to Reinsdorf can you set it up I want to make things right with cross I want to bury the hatchet clear the air across that no thanks not interested that's surprised me when you think when you say Phil wasn't coming back it sounds as if you're saying fills the reason this broke up and I don't think that is filled and come back because the relationship was ruined by Jerry Krause Jerry Reinsdorf allowed him to ruin the relationship so ge Phil Jackson said okay I'm not wanted I'm leaving but when you just say Phil wasn't coming back it sounds as if you're saying well they all wanted them back but still didn't want to be there that's not accurate no I'm not saying that and it's not Jerry Krause wasn't the only one that ruined the relationship it takes two to tango to have a relationship goes south at that point so both sides are culpable here in the end whatever happened at the end of ninety eight Michael was told we'll bring you back you gotta let us try to rebuild on the fly around you Phil was asked twice you want to come back there again Jerry Krause was a very difficult complicated person he was a Jerry Reinsdorf should have done a better job getting a hold of Krause and corralling it say I'm not going to have this it's not going to go on here but it did but maybe maybe Jerry Reinsdorf didn't want to do that maybe it's a good cop bad cop scenario maybe maybe in the stock in their office Jerry Reinsdorf and Jerry Krause for a hundred percent on the same page but it's easy for crowds to be the bad guy in rat Reinsdorf to come in at the end if you like well I try to work it out with Phil it's a great question I do love doesn't know if they ask Michael who do you want to coach that's easy he said we wanted you wanted Phil and he answered it but when it's in ninety eight when Jerry said don't make any rash decisions let me work on Phil and he took two runs Adam if Phil both time said no was the question ever asked Phil's not coming back his marriage is falling apart he isn't coming back who do you want to go to T. because Michael was gonna play for template it but he also said in the documentary he was only gonna play for Phil and he was a man of his word he didn't play for anyone else in till he had a role with the Washington wizards and then he brought Doug Collins back until that man he had a lot more skin in the game then because he had a piece of the Washington wizard correct but he did not play for any coach other than Phil Jackson after he made that statement are you do you guys find it funny that died Jerry Krause is the only guy that can build the team but he he had so much he had such a long leash with his bulls franchise is only only do it in the league that can put pieces around a superstar come on now he gets so much credit but he is a he is a major reason why this all broke up I don't think he's the only guy in the league that can build a roster I mean come on now this is insanity it is it really is looking back thirty years later it's crazy easy only guy you're telling me Michael Jordan but you you're saying lebron James goes to Jeanie Buss and says Hey you know rob link is not get it done you think that they're gonna say sorry lebron kick rocks that ain't happening nobody putting but they have won a title they won six with this guy in charge okay so Michael should have more authority correct I agree with you one hundred percent so you're saying even though they won six titles on crosses watch you should fire him it wasn't because across they won those titles he played a large part Michael obviously player of all time I agree he played a part but every other player that wondering Jerry Krause put there I just think it's fascinating that Jerry Krause was such an important piece here that we can't move him out of that spot but we're okay with Michael moving on let's go to the phones Bob's in Rosemont Hey Bob what's up man yep you're right on the money in that backstory but feels personal life the bottom line is first and foremost he wanted it obviously is marriage was in trouble as you follow like the ability to go to Montana and and resolve that issue outside of that the headlines of Chicago particularly deaf particular point timeless popularity would been paramount in his thinking another point is I think that when you talk about divisiveness it is clear that Krause and Reinsdorf engendered a lot of that over the course of negotiations over several contract years once Jackson determines that the ability for the came to unify essentially against R. Krause what was something that he could utilize to unify their team and make a stronger unit he certainly cultivated that atmosphere and certainly tolerated to the extent it existed another point is that the Lakers at that particular point in time had gone through three head coaches with Kobe Bryant and Shaq and and Phil Jackson sees not the desire to get a seventh championship with the bulls but to go after our blacks record of ten championships as a head coach and certainly he would have seen by going to Montana making himself available for a call from Colby endorsed check and going coach the Lakers and bring stability to that franchise essentially gave another bite at the apple in the possibility to get that can spot which he ultimately accomplish and the last point is the ability of Jackson to be a divisive factor not only with the bulls in terms of the latter portion of his tenure as a coach but then when he went to the Lakers and the ability to become an office politician and essentially drives your request out of the Lakers front office in in creating a chasm between him and the bus remotely demonstrates that bill they had that skill which we may have not looked at while he was still with the bulls but I think in retrospect you can say that he had a significant indicate creating the up the chasm between Krause and him and him and the team up but also a why he would not have come back under any circumstances a for another run at the championship he wanted out for personal reasons for professional reasons and no matter what kind of box revisionist history people may talk about now with the possibilities with the shortened season they may have gotten another championship the fact of the matter is still had bigger pictures bigger picture in mind he was gone and there was nothing that was going to be done about it yeah I completely agree with you again Phil was an amazing coach I'm not point fingers he walked away and said I'm out now did Jerry Krause and appreciate your call Bob have a wonderful day stay safe and healthy look Jerry Krause was a really complicated difficult man to deal with and that should have been taken care of he should have had his hand slapped so to speak but Phil Jackson is not the angel that is portrayed to be in this documentary oh god they all picked out fill it filled it he had to leave no shot absolutely no shot not true three one two three three two three seven seven six QuickTime out Tim Grover Michael Jordan's trainer really good dude he's Max you're.

"Jerry Reinsdorf and general manager Jerry Krause Krause died three years ago as a come across in the best light either in Chicago at the time or in the last dance Jerry Krause the fall guy in this story earlier with R. Scott van pelt Michael will bond Jackie MacMullan just wish you could go back in time and tell Jerry Krause I know you want credit went out and wait for someone to actually give it to you I wonder how things would be different if you could have just been able to do that he wanted to be part of the club's Scott and he was never going to be one of the guys on that team and I think he just started thinking well if I'm not in your club the number you can up the club and he by the way Phil Jackson I discovered you how come you were more popular more famous than I am and these are the kind of things the in securities in the paranoia that turn Jerry Krause into a villain Scott you know what's interesting is hearing people now who don't remember or weren't aware at the time of what happened hill twenty two years ago I don't as a text message and I'm sure you do too I know you do Jackie with people saying how did this happen I can't believe it because I don't think it could happen today if I mean the criticism directed at executive level people today is so much different than it was in you know in the late nineties and the constant conversation not every town had sports talk radio in the same way we're talking about there was no social media people didn't have hot takes that were broadcast everywhere and even a lot of time though I can tell you is somebody who was around occasionally not every day like the Chicago writers the jacket I were around more than occasionally and we knew that it was like what what is Jerry Krause doing he gets credit for finding Scotty Pippin he gets the credit for getting Phil Jackson are away from the Rochester Xena's whatever that was and is the vehicle he got the credit what's what's wrong with having gotten it did and it wasn't enough it wasn't enough for crowns pictured as a bad boy he wasn't the only one though that's in exports are all night if ESPN radio making this meal for two years in the kitchen and we don't know how to taste because we've had it every single day so for people to actually have it now and seem to be enjoying it it's a thrill it tastes good it tastes so good.

"Because they're winning but Jerry Krause wanted it over and done with us so that he could go back and basically take all the credit for the next rebuilt yeah we've got we've got the better of the clippers failed on their draft picks and if you have those picks you could really be something so any now what does your work that day walking around downtown I said Jerry he I'm not sure Jerry Krause tender stands these guys are basically the Beatles in the lives of the most popular franchise of all time unless the I if I knew I would not do this and I would not do this maybe not even the following year as devoted died from natural death because there are certain players and certain things you just don't break up and I think that these guys have earned the right to let let die from that so anyhow back I got back to my job which was that I was very and Jerry Reinsdorf and Jerry Krause called me and they won the championship and Jerry Krause was still hell bent on breaking act and you're a writer says that the Pimlico bureaucrats what you told me in downtown Seattle about next year and I felt very proud of me since I can't I can't do it he said you don't understand I don't want to work with yeah well I want to just do this one if you were downtown with your what Phil worked out of the other place you know you'll just stay the hell away from each other because the falcons how about that you just select fill her kid the other place and you go downtown because they had offices downtown either at the United center or previous to that they were on the corner of Michigan and oak they had offices right there one mag mile and for whatever reason man those two guys got sideways don't forget Phil Jackson showed up to the Deerfield multi plex in a faded on talk polo golf shirt and S. "Know some of the things that Jerry Reinsdorf is going to say in this documentary including talking about Scotty Pippin and you know he's got a tip and signed a long term deal when he was drafted because he was from a very large family and he wanted to take care of his family and Ryan store says in the documentary I advised him not to sign the deal this is advising him not to sign it and so some of those moments I thought Reinsdorf was very very good in this because I don't remember hearing from him a ton in in real time when all this was going on so I've really enjoyed his comments you know what stood out to me more than anything from having been around Michael from the first time he came to Chicago this is because he's been so reclusive in recent years and out of touch and it sounds like he's doing it because he fell well cut you know lebron is getting attention or anything like that it's really the first time and I'm glad about that you know I told Michael story David Halberstam told Michael story a number of authors dead this is the first time he really gets to tell it his way and the way he saw and and we really never heard that before he's relaxed little reminded me of watching C. N. him relax with the cigar the whole bit was my still in the eighties as Jackie knows commentating as any player in the league and spend hours with them before the game he couldn't get enough of chat with the media arguing accusing back in the fourth and that's the Michael I saw for the first time in decades where the pressure was off and he gets to say things the way he wants it the way he wants and you see the amenity and him that we saw that got caught overcome by alliance celebrity yeah you know when you see him you're dead on I I can remember being at a a bowls practice in the old them you know in dear filled with almost it was almost like they practice in a strip mall there was a there was a court but there was also a novelist Syria and and weight training I remember after one of the practice is one day I waited I lingered a bit and I ended up talking to Michael Jordan while he was lifting weights and two guys from you know a priori was sitting next to him listening in on our conversations were the days when Michael you could talk to my members before all star games and get there a little early and and and Jordan bar could be playing cards and goofing on each other in writing obscene things on the blackboard to embarrass me and those are the days and so you're right it's nice to see that Michael back in in this film in this documentary this conversation could go on literally for the entirety of our our but in the interest of brevity I'll close with this A. J. A. give you the last word because you're young enough to have seen Jordan as a guy who you would have rightfully sort of you know idolized as a fan and then old enough as well to have covered him work that was your job to cover him he went on GMA and he said he was worried the people going to see this I think he's a rotten dude what do you think is a fair estimation of who the Michael Jordan was that you came to know as someone that covered the team and I I did get to see some of the behind the scenes a little bit of what made him sick and I go back to the hall of fame speech that a lot of people found offensive and they saw that abrasive side and that can be contested side combative side of him but to me you don't have the Michael Jordan was famously won six championships all of that you don't have it without this guy and you're gonna see more of that guide throughout this documentary but if you were a fan of his at all if you appreciated and marveled at what he did you have to stand you have to understand that the reason behind all of that is this Dr just headed person who just took every perceived slight and turned it into fuel and he wasn't always easy to get along with but that is the person that produced it produces greatness that produce someone worthy of a ten hour documentary the documentary continues next Sunday nine o'clock eastern on ESPN round one of the NFL draft takes place on Thursday ten minutes between picks or is there that's exports are on IT has been radio.

"Of the things that Jerry Reinsdorf is going to say in this documentary including talking about Scotty Pippin and you know he's got a tip and signed a long term deal when he was drafted because he was from a very large family and he wanted to take care of his family and Ryan store says in the documentary I advised him not to sign the deal this is advising him not to sign it and so some of those moments I thought Reinsdorf was very very good in this because I don't remember hearing from him a ton in look in real time when all this was going on so I've really enjoyed his comments you know what stood out to me more than anything from having been around Michael from the first time he came to Chicago this is because he's been so reclusive in recent years and out of touch and it sounds like he's doing it because he fell well cut you know lebron is getting attention or anything like that it's really the first time and I'm glad about that you know I told Michael story David Halberstam told Michael story a number of authors dead this is the first time he really gets to tell it his way and the way he sought and and we really never heard that before these relaxed little reminded me of watching seeing him relax with the cigar the whole bit was my Michael in the eighties as Jackie knows commentating as any player in the league you'd spend hours with him before the game he couldn't get enough of chat with the media arguing accusing back in the fourth and that's the Michael I saw for the first time in decades where the pressure was off and he gets to say things the way he wants it the way he wants and you see the amenity and him that we saw that got caught overcome by alleged celebrity yeah you know when you see him you're dead on I I can remember being at a a bowls practice in the old them you know in dear filled with almost it was almost like they practice in a strip mall there was a there was a court but there was also a novelist Syria and and weight training I remember after one of the practices one day I waited I lingered a bit and I ended up talking to Michael Jordan while he was lifting weights and two guys from you know a priori were sitting next to him listening in on our conversations were the days when Michael you could talk to my remember before all star games and get there a little early and and and Jordan bar could be playing cards and goofing on each other in writing obscene things on the blackboard to embarrass me and those are the days and so you're right it's nice to see that Michael back in in this film in this documentary this conversation could go on literally for the entirety of our our but in the interest of brevity I'll close with this A. J. A. give you the last word because you're young enough to have seen Jordan as a guy who you would have rightfully sort of you know idolized as a fan and then old enough as well to have covered him work that was your job to cover him he went on GMA and he said he was worried the people going to see this I think he's a rotten dude what do you think is a fair estimation of who the Michael Jordan was that you came to know as someone that covered the team and I I did get to see some of the behind the scenes a little bit of what made him sick and I go back to the hall of fame speech with a lot of people found offensive and they saw that abrasive side and that can be contested side combative side of him but to me you don't have the Michael Jordan was famously won six championships all of that you don't have it without this guy and you're gonna see more of that guide throughout this documentary but if you're a fan of his at all if you appreciated and marveled at what he did you have to stand yeah I understand that the reason behind all of that is this Dr just headed person who just took every perceived slight and turned it into fuel and he wasn't always easy to get along with but that is the person that produced it produces greatness that produce someone worthy of a ten hour documentary the documentary continues next Sunday nine o'clock eastern on ESPN round one of the NFL draft takes place on Thursday ten minutes between picks or is there that's exports are on IT has been radio.

"We're trying to connect with Ed farmer, which I'm thinking, maybe we'll do that later in the program and just have a moment with farm meals since he's been battling the fires out in in. California's super scary situation ten thousand lost homes. I'm not sure on the number. I just I know that the death toll is what in the sixties now one hundred and fifty thousand the death toll is is awful. These are horrific fires that cannot be stopped. Worst fires ever out there. So slightly lighter note, I went yesterday to a luncheon at for the Chicago sports alliance at the Blackhawks practice facility MB ice arena. And this is the Chicago sports alliance was put together by Jerry Reinsdorf and their goal is to help Chicago become safer. Reduce gun violence help kids actually be able to go to school and not be afraid that they're going to get shot on the way. And also, maybe even most importantly of all of it's super important right is to actually create jobs and pathways for young men and women to gain employment, dead a paycheck and have the life that they deserve where if you don't grow up in glencoe, and you grew up on the west side of the south side. You actually have a remote level of chance to have success in life. So it's beautiful what they're doing. And Jerry was so impressive yesterday. Somebody made a comment. Hey, it's really really great that you're doing this. And his response was somewhere along lines. Not really we benefit so much from being in this city that it would be actually awful if we were not giving back, and then he started talking about it in the number one thing that we can do is not write a check. But it's actually getting vocational skills for the youth in our city and creating pathways. That's the most important thing. We can do and it was just beautiful. That sounds. I really do not appreciate the glencoe swipe. It was part of your heartfelt thought pattern there. But Jerry who you and me both came from privilege. Yes. And it gave us a huge advantage in life. And we so it's just not how does a kid. I'm not listening. You wherever you come from. You can do it. I get I'm not trying to like built it came from here. I can't do. But but it's true. It's not a level playing field. Everybody knows that. Right. Right. And you know, Christine who is in charge. Oh, Christina Riley. Who's in charge of White Sox charities the socks go out of there? So when you give your wife's charities when you do any event when you buy a jersey, you're good one of their events White Sox cherries doesn't like funnel that move. That might the White Sox. They give it to all these different charities around Chicago. There's dozens of charities that they give it to. They are very aware of how they benefit from Chicago. And yet he gave us, you know, he gave us the two thousand five World Series. You gave us. Six Michael, Jordan championships. But he also understands he'll he'll stay away. My my store point. He's funny. Realize how funny that dude is funny yesterday made a couple of quips about you guys. Are somebody said something like you guys are out in front of the publicity? Yeah. It's not that great. Sometimes..

"Jerry Reinsdorf Mike Reiss sources or they're loyal to the front office. But I think the the constant frustration from within the fan base is has always been especially in the last year. What direction are they going? And if this team yet, again is is going downhill and not winning a lot of games. I think there are a lot of people that would love to see the entire house being cleaned everything. And I don't know what the ride source will decide at that point. But that's why it's so important to see how the rest of the season and the progression of younger players like Levin like marketing when he gets back on the floor like who's in a contract year. How do those guys developed, but in the short term specific the Fred, I just be stunned. If if he were there to start next season, they can clean a whole house. And all of a sudden they see in the corner. Alway Pete Myers is still here. I missed it. Wait a minute. I thought this place was speaking span look at this. It's actually clean. Wait. There's still Pete Myers here. It's like lead is ready to here. Wait a minute. Are. My friend is always I appreciate it. And I'm so glad to hear you back on the show with us. Orlando Magic trade for Chicago Bulls guard Jerian Grant in 3-team deal

"We have a major breaking deal jerry reinsdorf team es but not his baseball team the chicago bulls who jerry ron one six nba world championships with they've traded jerry and grant and it's a big names above them is trade jerry and grant has been traded jerry in grant has been traded he is headed in a three way deal with charlotte and orlando he's going to land in orlando and the bulls are getting julianne stone from the hornets and if you don't know who julian stone is you are not alone he steve's nephew he is nuts steve's nephew he started his nba career with the nuggets in two thousand eleven he was out of league in fourteen fifteen sixteen years back in the league with the hornets last year he was a minor he averaged point eight points per game is contract is non guaranteed yes there you go paul sullivan never been traded always consistent a hall of famer your writer for the chicago tribune knows everything about baseball and he's down in houston this weekend with the white sox solly always good to talk to you my friend welcome to the show oh thanks for having me what's going on jerry and grants i thought you study noon i only i wanted to tell people that but really i just thought that you didn't know so i knew you're on hold so i figured i'd break you the news the jerry grant is gone now now can we get let's get a couple takeaways from today's game solely as far as james shields given up more than he wanted to not making it through six which he's been doing very consistently do you think this has any impact on james shields is trade value moving forward i don't know i mean it was i think is highest runs giving up ten hits wasn't a really good performance wasn't too dissatisfied with it basically said that the three run homer to gaddis was kind of a fly ball into the you know that short porch they're left field and yeah yeah oh i'm sorry close enough though we got it right that short porch and ride the crawford boxes yeah and then the one two bregman later on was kind of the same thing so you know he was tired by then probably might not have gone out at anything but trying to save the bullpen a little bit and you know that's what happens surprise he brought him back out there after they got the four spot because you do want to keep his trade value up there and he thought only bad things could happen we were just talking about trade value on this team shields was the sax opening day starter we just need another team in baseball to think he's better than their fifth starter but kill came soria abby garcia do you see them changing zip codes in the next couple of weeks here soria for sure i would say they'd like to trade and if someone want him but of course you know he doesn't have a great track record i had a real nice stretch there for a while i think fifteen consecutive scoreless appearances until the other night but you know they're not going to get much for him avi they could get something for but you know they don't have to trade him right now he he reminded us yesterday he's only twenty seven it seems like he's been around forever but and he is red hot now so you would think that they really if you're going to trade should be the time but i don't think they're like you know actively trying to dump them right now but he's probably their best piece i would say at this point paul sullivan and the tribune doing a great job covering baseball as per always with the white sox this weekend down in houston so you know you've covered ricky renteria you've seen him on the north side and and obviously now at the white sox like how would you describe in your opinion like his progression from then till now.
