"Like an a year before I started the guardian angels I'm pretty sure 19 78 And I remember I remember music and passion how many films were filmed At the Copa Command Just sign a memory there was that great scene remember a good fellas raging bull right now great carlito's way the French connection the Irish man I was really good stuff Tomorrow night there's the Dean Martin hour And I think that was the last public appearance made by Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis Lewis before they went their separate ways But they also made their debut in New York at the Copa They broke up all at the Copa Danny Thomas Pat Cooper I think pat Cooper the great Italian comedian Remember Pat Cooper would come up and warm up for Frank Sinatra shows he was a radic He was eccentric He was sharp He was witty He was Robin Williams before there was Robin Williams Remember how fast how quick that Cooper was What became a pan Cooper the last time I saw a pair of Cooper he was on the west fourth street train station the a train station and he was trying out his lines on the people on the subways That was like his focus group And the guy was sharp I think he moved to Vegas Everybody moves to Vegas Remember whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas The good the bad and the ugly You remember getting that first vinyl of pet Cooper that first comedy album laughing your talk with all those belly laughs particularly those of you who are of the Italian Italian American tradition He was like a competitor of all the borscht belt comedians who are the Jews And then all of a sudden there was pat Cooper and he said wow man this guy hits the ball And I remember Joey Gallo was the actual silent owner Of the copacabana after Frank Costello I know you don't like to believe that it was a guy named Jules padel He was the front but it was really the mob that always ran the Copa And remember Joey Gallo was his 43rd birthday he had just been released from Elmira up stay for a series of crimes and used to get The New York Times delivered to him and his jail cell in Elmira When he was released he was the peach pit Of the great wide way Broadway they loved him coming to all the play He would recite poetry He was arm in arm with Jerry Orbach Remember Jerry Orbach and Law & Order Jerry Orbach and his wife they celebrated his 43rd birthday at the copacabana which he silently owned And who was it that entertained Joey Gallo on the very night he ended up getting shot and killed later on at night at umberto's in Little Italy Who entertained One 808 four 8 9 two two two that's one 808 four 8 WABC And the Coppola also set up if I remember correctly a second location very similar to how the New York Yankees remember they would play at Yankee Stadium and then they had their spring training headquarters at a location that is not Tampa Not Tampa as it is now The second copacabana opened up in that very shitty what city which at one 808 four 8 9 two two two one 808 four 8 WABC Let's go to Tommy is calling from Brooklyn your turn to be heard He had WABC Tommy Hey Curtis Was it Tony Bennett that was on those signs out in bus maybe said you were talking about No no not the story a kid And by the way I realize you know he's fallen from grace with me Tony Bennett even though he's a survivor nobody thought he'd live this long But when he hooked up with Lady Gaga you know tundra ty that was it for me That was interesting Yesterday you were talking about the Irish I was wondering I don't know who you were talking about Maybe I remember as a kid they talk about it I grew up in the average of their briefing point And they always talked about the IRA Not Gerry Adams but maybe bob Anderson or maybe even Jimmy McMahon I remember those names for some reason Yeah yeah remember they used to do quite a bit of fundraising out there in the Irish Riviera And the rockaways and brisket point for the IRA as they did in westerly and Staten Island along four stabbing you up in New Orleans in The Bronx all the Irish areas up in Washington heights in wood They would have massive fundraisers for the IRA were at war with declared war against the British Crown But I am against the IRA because they're terrorists They kill children and that always bothers me No no no understood understood and it's interesting that Rudy Giuliani who was a U.S. attorney for the southern district had to prosecute one of those IRA gunmen who was considered the ultimate study He was like a GQ guy You say that again please Joe Henderson I don't think I was him You may be correct All I know is he had one female attorney he ended up fornicating and copulating with her and jail Then they assigned him another female and the same thing happened And so they basically said that female attorneys could not represent this guy And it was Margaret Thatcher who wanted this guy because he was accused of shooting a British police officer But he was the Irish blarney stone stallion Apparently he had quite the schlong Oh my lord Yeah Yeah that's what these female attorneys said Cap representing him and servicing him And then being removed from the case But no you ask a very good question Tommy We're going to put it out there Who wants the IRA Killer of a British police officer Who is housed in the MCC in downtown Manhattan prosecuted by Rudy Giuliani U.S. attorney for the southern district because Maggie Maggie Thatcher made it personal She called up Ronald Reagan who was president and said I want that guy Put in jail triple life without parole or send them back to the UK and will hang them in It was inevitable that actors would show up on multiple episodes as entirely different characters. Fans created a repeat offenders website. He was the entry in Cabaret when the absolute And Joel Gray called me said, You know, Michael, I've got some. I got some sad news for you. And I said What I said, and he died, and Andy Bean and ranking the great dancer, actress and choreographer and one time lover of Bob Faw, See And ranking. She died at 71 yesterday, not of co. But I'm not quite sure what we're still trying to figure that out. But she was having some long issues I know now and ranking. You. You saw her in Chicago, right, Len? I did. I did. I would be B. "I got a dog and anybody's been around my house knows Dropped a little pup dropped the ball in front of me and for me to grab the ball, and I'm walking through this little alley way to get to the bedroom and I grabbed the ball like this, and he ran. And I was joking. Okay, let's let's stop the story here. None of this makes any sense. Not a thing, he said. Makes sense. He's in the shower eyes that ever happened anyway. With the dog comes into your bathroom where you taking a shower usually have the door closed. When you're in a bathroom. And what is this alleyway? Its, uh What the hell is he talking with his bathroom When you got the bathroom. Go. You're in an alleyway to get to the house. What do you mean it out? Do you mean the hallway? Yeah, I was trying to visualize this whole thing. It's it's impossible to visualize. Yeah, let's hear the rest of running after him to grab his tail. And what happened was that he slid on a throw rug. And I tripped on the rug. He slid on. That's what happened. Oh, ma'am. Not not not very exciting story, okay, Nothing makes sense there. Nothing makes sense. If this was long order, Jerry Orbach and the other guy would walk out of the room and said that's making the dog slipped on a throw rug. So why would you then If he slips on the throw rug with the throat, be moving, and you it would be gone before you got to it. None of this makes any sense. And Let me let me have this again with the shower. I got a dog. Anybody's been around my house knows. Drop the Okay. First of all, we mean anybody's but what do you think we all come to your house around your house? Anybody's been around my house. That's three people. So what about the rest of the top? Drop the ball in front of me? And for me to grab the ball, and I'm walking through this little alley way to get to the bedroom. Okay? Why would you leave? What does he mean? An alley. There's an alleyway from my family from the bathroom to the bedroom. What do you go outside? In some alley? It makes no sense of them. I grabbed the ball like this, and he ran. I'm joking, running after him and grab his tail. Did you ever grab your dog's tail? See, that's that's the part of the story that I don't believe you don't grab a dog's tail. Although he has been known for grabbing people in the wrong places, you know It doesn't make any sense. He's just lying as he always does. Always lying. He's just an old man who slipped in the bathroom. Don't they? Old guys like that? Don't you have these bars put in everywhere? Yeah, handlebars like they have in their homes, right? Yeah. Yeah, Doesn't I mean so, Listen, He's just an old man who slipped and fell and broke his foot. He's a frail, feeble old man that concocted this whole story about a dog and he ran after the Has anybody ever run after a dog to grab their tail. It doesn't make any sense. Anybody have an alleyway that goes from here back to your bedroom and the other thing to mark. He didn't talk about putting any clothes on. So he's chasing the dog naked. Apparently. Yeah, if your first of all most people when they take in a show what don't you close the bathroom door. We'll see you at the dog comes in and drops the ball. You're naked. You're wet. You didn't get you that kind of just bend over and pick it up. You're gonna take a talent dry yourself off first. Either way, He just sounds nuts. He sounds completely I'm gonna ask the public for 100 days. Mask just 100 days to mask not forever 100 days and I think we'll see a significant reduction. Wow. You know I'm going to try this. Maybe he's right. Where do you get these masks on, and he's come up with the other great idea. He's asked Dr Fauci, too, So I asked him to stay out of the exact same role he's had for the past several presidents. I asked him to be in chief medical adviser for me as well. Did you see the praise? He was getting all over the cable news and all over the newspapers. You see the praise he was getting. He's asked Dr Fauci to stay in the same exact role. He was praised so much for announcing that I've asked to have exactly the same thing we have now wasn't campaigning on change and hope and change and all that vast Dr Fauci to stay and do exactly what he's done now, which is nothing. He's got nothing done. This is a guy who a nice guy. He was Fauci. He's a big media whore Publicity hound his whole days to photo. How many's show's gonna get on, But he never gets anything right. He was telling people to take a cruise in March. He was telling people middle of March not to wear masks. He's the guy that said the virus would never come here. When it came here. He's the guy that said it was just a flu. It would go away. He's the guy that first said the warm weather, It'll go away. He's the guy that said, You can't open the schools that's the worst place to open. Then he flip flopped last week and said, You should definitely open the schools. That's the safest place, so he's asked him to stay. That's good news. Um, uh, I'm just this here's he was started yet. If he's gonna start if he's gonna win, he hasn't even started yet. What's gonna happen if he gets the job? And bringing back all these Obama characters that have already talked about re signing that stupid Paris climate agreement, which does nothing about climate change is just a agreement that we send 400 year over there and get nothing for it. He's going to re sign that ran agreement. That ridiculous agreement He's got John Kerry about the most useless guy in the world. He's got John Kerry Junior Who's Tony Blinken, who is an exact copy of John Kerry 20 years younger. Who's in bed with Communist China all the time. The worst in the world is blinking, real globalist swamp. Uh, character. So Joe Bartlett. How? How? That's why you agreed to stay because you know, this is gonna be bad. You know, be lots to talk about your condition is a brilliant plan, Mark. I mean, you know it took him a long time to come up with this. So let's see how it works. Yeah. So let's go over this again for you that don't understand it, where a mask. And do that every day. Not just some for most of you. I know you're wearing the mask Did maybe just Tuesdays. You where? Where it every day. So this is his plan. What about the inauguration? The call of the transfer of power, I think is important. But it is totally His decision and it's not have no personal consequence to me. Whether Trump come, I don't think Trump he should not want Trump to come because you president truck, he'll be He'll be making the funniest faces during the whole thing. I'm telling you right now nobody's brought this up yet. There's going to be a problem with the inauguration. You've seen how this works. The chief justice holds up the You put your hand on the Bible and he says, Repeat after me, and then he gives you three sentences. You have to repeat them. They do this like three or four times. You telling me Joe Biden could do that? I solemnly swear to uphold the Constitution of United States. Then they're gonna look at bite. He's gonna go I I I You know the thing you know, Let's say he gets the first one. There's two all he's not gonna be able to repeat. And you you know you're laughing, but you don't think they thought of this already in the Biden officer? Yeah, On Lee a couple of words at a time, please. Mr Chief Justice. Yeah. Yes. So that's probably going to be a different sort of inauguration. The Chief justice they repeat after me. I I solemnly Uh, well, uh, solemnly, solemnly Z. Either that or I'm gonna secretly have a near piece in there. It's not a debate. Nobody's checking. They may have an ear piece in there to feed him this stuff so Good news is Dr Fauci will be there? We'll have him to make fun of them. He was not compromised and scientific integrity was not compromised, and I would not hesitate for a moment when my turn comes up. To get vaccinated and to my have my family vaccinated. Call, please. This publicity out. He'll be doing.

Cipriani downtown liquor license pulled so But again, you know for all you Ah, a bar owner's restaurant owners just have everybody carry protest signs. Then they can do whatever the hell they want. Nobody will say a word. And you saw this arrest where the and this woman deserves to be arrested. Deserves to go to jail. This is the protester who was Destroying police surveillance cameras, which were very important, especially around city Hall. She went up to someone threw paint all over them. Then some, she spray painted and then others she had a big wouldn't stick and smash them. So the car pulls up in unmarked, They say it's an unmarked car. There's no police car is unmarked as they are from a mile away. You can tell. It's a police car who buys a black Buick with black wall tires and no chrome on except the police department. And you could always tell it's a police car. So it's a white fans anyway by a white van. The last time I saw Naz was O J. Simpson, a white van. Looks like you're driving a refrigerator. If would you buy a white fan? I would never buy a white car. Now s O. Obviously, It's a police car. A bunch of Undercover guys get out. They throw her in the car and take away. She she deserved to be arrested. There was nothing wrong with it. I'm sure that's done all the time. The mayor going I think it was the wrong time and the wrong place to effectuate that arrest. The arrests, as I understand it so far was well. I understand what he's saying. It's the wrong time. It's in the middle of a crime wave. Why start arresting people? It's in the worst crime wave we've ever had. It's in the middle of protest ng looting rioting. What kind of time is that? What is wrong with these idiots? They're understand thoroughly unacceptable. So anything that even slightly suggests that is to me troubling and the kind of thing that we don't want to see in this city. What a whacked out lunatic. This guy's, could you? What did he call the police? Commissioner? What are you doing Arresting people? Well, we're police department's What? Why are you arresting the people? Well, that's the way we rest on governor know better. I'm surprised that especially at this time. When you get this clip, Did you just wake him up? Was he asleep when you got here? That's his way of talking lately. I don't know what's going on. Maybe on some medication or something again. Yeah, maybe Maybe the mayor's passing around whatever he's been on. So what? This is the guy in the middle of the biggest crisis we've ever had. His whole state is falling apart. Yes. What do you know about it? No, listen, I'm surprised that especially at this time, the NYPD D would take such an obnoxious action. It's obnoxious about that. They're arresting a criminal who's been destroying important police equipment. What are they supposed to do? Be nice. Invite her to come, Teo, you know, prison or, you know, Please turn yourself in. It's not the Roger Stone for some minor process crime. It's somebody's destroying their valuable police equipment. What he supposed to do? Pull up and so Excuse me. If you have a moment, Could we speak with you? Yeah. See, there you go. I don't think it was wholly insensitive to everything that's going on. It was frightening. Were you frightened? Thought it was pretty good. I mean, you know that it was okay, I guess. Can you see on law and order? Jerry Orbach, We don't mean to frighten you way don't want to frighten you. That's the whole idea is to frighten the person. So where do we find these people? Where do we get these politicians? First of all? This governor. This man and the governor. You should be more angry because he has that he has a brain unlike this mayor, But this governor toe let the whole city in New York fall apart and just sit there sleeping in Albany Crime is out of control. People getting show. What about the 300 shootings in New York last week? That didn't bother him? This pot ism thiss upsets for people that mellows at the bar that bothered him. Gotta come with 15 agents came swarming in there. But the crime wave out of control. He doesn't send anybody doesn't help. Ah, in New Jersey. Hey, you're don't laugh. You're not much better with no time for anyone. To be vying for induction into the Knucklehead Hall of Fame. Oh, Mike, Is this the Les mis guy you've ever heard, But Knucklehead Hall of Fame was last time You heard NBC knucklehead except for like a gym coach in the in the throes of the sixties. You're a knucklehead is the wasn't from Goldman Sachs was the Wall Street kind. You think Goldman Sachs when they're angry? That's what they call each other over here with the yellow Goldman sex. They don't yell. You're a knucklehead. But what do we do? We're stuck with these guys for a couple of years, the worst leaders ever the most incompetent in effect. Now they're talking about releasing another 20% of the prisoners. Do you think of this Governor? You and again He's got a brain. I blame him. Or he could fix this. If he if he wanted to. He would know what to do The blahs you Ah, Give him a this. He's just Completely completely brain dead. He doesn't know where he is. There's a big, juicy reporting. They asked him if he makes any contact with reality. He's just lost. But Cuomo's different Cuomos, the guy who can fix things if he wants, but he's left the whole city, half the population of the state. Fall apart completely. It's total disaster. He hasn't stepped in. He looks the other way. Doesn't do it preaches about masks. He doesn't wear a mask in real life. My Twitter got a lot of pictures of hugging people kissing people with no mask on same thing with the Nadler doesn't wear a mask. Vouch. He rips the mask office as soon as the cameras off, and Congressman Louis Gohmert, who was Republican friend of the president's. Of course they would go after him. He's got the Corona virus tested positive for doesn't seem to have a lot of symptoms but yelling at him. He was anti Maskey wasn't wearing them. But nobody was wearing a mask. You saw In the Senate that Congress they're not wearing masks. They only wear it when the camera's on cameras off. They don't wear that. Schumer doesn't wear a mask when the camera's not on, never walks around the streets without a mask on So go mark, by the way, pointing out that he is immediately going on hydroxy Clara Quinn. That's another one of the sickest things of all of this. You talk to any top doctor anywhere. They're all using hydroxy clerk when it works. I'd say 75% of the time. Some people can't take it. They have any little hard issue. But it's been very effective along with five or six other things very effective. Hydroxy Clark went Gold Mart cities on it immediately, but that effort, too, just because the president said he liked it. That's actually costing people lives if they're suddenly not taking hydroxy Clara Quint You know, it's one of the most used drugs in the world. The military gives out one million doses a day. Everybody the military's been on hydroxy clerk was very effective for its. It's mainly used for malaria and other things. No chance of side effects. Must you take it for more than a year for Corona virus? It's six days to 10 days. Very, very effective. But these lunatics do you see Morning Joe this morning. Screaming about wised. Why is the president pushing her drugs, including follow the money? Check the money connection. Here is one of the reasons fashion companies against it. There's no money in hydroxy clerk land. There's no patent. It's expired 1,000,000 years ago its a generic drug. Anybody can make it. It's a 35 cents it does. There's no money in it. Nobody's making That's why I'm vouching company. They push friend deserve ear. It's got a patent. It's 1000. It does follow that money and see where that goes. Who do you think Biden will pick his VP? They're supposed to announce it this weekend. I guess Kamala Harris seems to be the front runner. I don't know. That's her pushing that she has been in the most incredibly aggressive campaign for the job, which usually means she's not in the lead theirs. What is the argument to use her, though? Because she's got things against her one, she viciously attacked Biden for being a racist. There's video that she Usually pick a vice president help you with the state. He needs no help in California white picker. Experience. Experience, but it's not good experience. That's the problem..

COPS was canceled although that was like the second version of cops remember how big the show cops was in the eighties and nineties and ran for twenty five years, and then went off the air, and then this was a new version of cops. What does that? That's not gonNA. You won't see anything. Why is he a copy? You don't know what he's doing. He's still around and he's here. Leo. Here's him on the phone with FX to all of the beats really telegraph themselves so much before they. Happen. And you can just see everything as it's going to occur especially at the end when the one female, I guess, she's the associate that she ends up being a bad guy. And when this burning corpse to go back to the first movie this burning corpse comes flying into the room. I was like, oh, well, there's Raleigh right there. I mean it plays to similar to the first one. And also just we have we see all these things coming at least. I felt that way. It's lazy. But yeah. Again, I'm going to give context it's nineteen hundred mid eighties. And again, the whole sequel. Idea of this was very beginning like the eighties in Hollywood of just making sequels of any successful movie. This they didn't even think we should put thought into this. This is just been a make money. You know, who cares how much and who cares? How good it is. I honestly just think this was like the latest thing to do is to make a sequel if you had a hit movie lease they were still making some original original movies to make sequels four. But that's my feeling about it. I think the sequel was still so new it wasn't being even scrutinized yet as in a cynical way that you know, happened obviously certain point when there were just so many FX two's coming out every year that people just got sick of that. What was weird that came out five years after the first film came out, you know, even with like Star Wars his every three years that new one came out for while there, and I don't remember the lag time between like a lethal weapon lethal weapon to die hard at die hard to. But it seemed like it was a lot closer than five years for those two or three with those. So by this time if felt like all the heat by been it could've been that phenomenon of this got popular again on VHS. And, but even then I think VHS was, you know, more like stuff was getting popular and eighty nine and then we'll make the sequel right away. But yeah. Just felt like it was a little too late and not good enough to really follow in the first ones footsteps. I still I'm sure it did very well in the box office. Right. I haven't looked..

"I used to study with a with a very great acting teacher in New York called to Haagen she's written book called respect for acting, and you know, kind of a lot of people's bibles. And when we were in New York, you know, if if you've studied with her before you can drop in on a class, and and just hang out and watch people work and stuff. So when I was there, I dropped in on one of her classes while we were doing FX and she said, oh, yeah. It's nice to see when you do in. And I said, well, I do have a problem too much to the acting teacher who'd Haugen, I said, you know, I'm gonna I'm an antagonistic with this guy Brian Brown. But he's such a nice guy. You know, I'm having a hard time. You know, getting it up to hate this guy and really wanted and she she paused for moment. And she said, well, he's the lead isn't he and I said, yeah, is and you're supporting I said, yes, she said, well, why the hell aren't you the lead? And I said God Tam your. Right. Why the hell aren't either? So associate got my whole antagonistic thing going in you know, kind of actors kind of away. So it turned out that there was a way to find to dislike Brian and kind of you know, methods Smith away, but it helped had you worked with Jerry Orbach or Brian Dennehy before. No I worked with Brian Dennehy. There used to be a show called. Fairytale theater. Shelly vol's fairy tale theater, and it was one of any Oakley, and he and I were in that he was wild Bill, and I was any Oakley's husband hang hung out there. And it was great. And again, these this was a great cast. And when we were there Jerry Orbach was doing a Broadway play Damn Yankees. No, whatever we went to. I remember we went to see him in a musical guy. And I didn't know I didn't know he was in the original company. Fantastic. You know, fifty years ago or something that has been running ever since Jerry Orbach. It isn't it is funny. Isn't it as the as the tough guy gangster, dude or the cop on TV or the the loving father in dirty dancing? I think was the first time I ever yet. Yeah. It was you know, it was a wonderful cast and. And a lot of them are. Bob reminded me a lot of our dead. Now, the the great cinematographer, he's a polish guy he did another film with Bob Mandel. I think on the check his name is wonderful, wonderful guy, and Jerry Orbach and Mason Adams, I think, and you know. Yeah. Mason Adams, he was he was so great. And I love that. He's such a a lovable guy. But then when you find that what is just like. Yeah, christ. And he's got that lovely voice from the civil war over thing. You know, you have a great voice. I know you've been in stuff like, you know, Star Trek deep space nine where special effects are, you know, Deridder, especially these days had you been ineffective heavy movie like that before FX itself. "You're going to hear from screenwriter Alan Ormsby who I asked. How did he first meet Robert Mandell? I think my agent put us together. The we became friends the first one we worked on was a Michael Keaton movie where he played he was a hockey player, and I did a rewrite on that. And we got along really well collaborated really, well, I don't know when FX came along exactly because we've done we've we've worked on many projects most of which never got anywhere. But I remember reading the FX script and because I had this bake background in make up and stuff. He asked me for my into it. And I wish I could tell you exactly what I did on this rewrite. I've looked for the pages. But I they're long gone. I didn't do a whole lot. I think I wrote a couple of scenes maybe, and I added some of the movie stuff. I remember that. I dismember mama is in the movie, and that came from an ad campaign that I did years earlier where we they had they had some low budget movie they were trying to sell and I said, well, let's call it. I just member mom because it was about a guy who. Hated his mother's kind of a psycho thing. And where that came from was when we when I was a kid. There was a TV show on called. I remember, mama. And my my brother used to make this joke and called it. I dismember, mama. It's really came back from my brother, you know, back in the fifties sometime anyway, so Bob put that in the movie, I just I know I talked to him a lot I told him about I had worked with Tom Savini on one of these low budget movies. And I don't know, I guess, I guess he fixed my brain on it, and I gave him some books on makeup. And then I rewrote some of the stuff, but I can't tell you specifically what I then the I dismember mama joke about all I can remember. So that's kind of a short history that scene of all the titles and going through pointing at the props and all that that is one of the better scenes, especially because you're getting to know cliff de young at that point and getting to know kind of what moving near it is at that point. And it humanizes character quite a bit. I just remember the cop going through and saying, oh, I just member. Mom, I saw that or something. I I remember the cliff was cliff the bad guy in that. And they've got all that stuff with Jerry Orbach getting the cast mate of his face. Which is I'm sure I told Bob about that. I mean, his makeup people would have known that anyway, but he didn't know much about it. So I I remember telling him about how we did all that kind of stuff. So I guess he so we had some knowledge of it when he shot the scene and everything it's always tough talking to writers. Because what you're saying before their all the projects that you work on and just never get made or the things that you rewrite that you never get your name on. So you look at a writers resume, and it's like this guy worked twice over twenty years. What's going on? Yeah. Well, you do a lot of uncreditworthy. And you do a lot of projects that don't get made. You know? I mean, I've sold a couple of scripts where I made a lot of money, but the movies never got made. It's a nice living. But you don't ever you don't often see the results on the screen. Yeah. It is hard because it was quite a while ago. It was like nineteen eighty six or something very hard to say exactly what my contribution was. I think it was a good script, and whatever I contributed. It wouldn't take away from anything original writers came up..

"Or it'll be you know, one of the few good jokes in the last action hero is that whole thing of the two different cops coming in like you're gonna be paired with a cartoon cat. You know, everybody has their weird partner. And that's what we're gonna do with this. And we do get that pairing. We do get that kind of buddy cop thing in FX two and in this kind of there. But not really like I said, we keep our two bu-. Buddies who are going to be friends by the end of the movie apart from each other. And then they have their own partners with Leo the Brian Dennehy character. He actually has two partners. He's got both his computer friend. So I guess he's more into digital facts. And then he's got his cop partner, and he's able to use both of those and then rally has Andy. But then at one point he abandoned her we never really see her again at all in the movie almost seemed like they were playing towards a once you've knock off Diane Nora, the the audience expectations were probably out. We're going to get Raleigh Andy together by the end of the film. And and she definitely plays a big part in helping him. But no that never develops. And I I wonder if that had been part of the project that anytime the other thing that I wanted to say about blow out is what reminded me a blow out as well. As Jerry Orbach, the Franco character pacem. Acre and the whole idea of we can't cross these wires on his chest for the Squibb's because he's got a pacemaker which kind of amounts to nothing at the beginning of the film. But then comes back later on. It reminds me of the undercover cop and blow out who's getting electrocuted or little shocks through the whole time because he's sweating and Travolta ahead taken into account for that. And that's what is the tragedy of blowout is that he ended up getting someone killed with his effects, and he then, you know, a retreated into the world of schlocky movies. So that was the other thing that really kind of brought that out for me. Did you notice in the scene where Diane Venar is killed? You know, raleigh's got movie posters all over his wall. She's got ballet posters and like a Rolling Stones concert tour. Poster the poster right over her bed is a picture of two two ballet dancers one wearing. The the woman wearing white and the man you can hardly make out. He's just a dark figure in their kinda wrapped their wrapped around each other. And the when Raleigh picks her up and puts her in the bed after she's been shot. She's wearing that white slip. And it looks almost kinda mirrors that that poster. And I just I really enjoyed looking at the all the background detail. And this one another is that in that fight that he has with the sniper in in her apartment, her bookshelf is knocked over and the one book, that's like really visible is called defector by Evelyn. Anthony, who who also wrote the tamarind seed, which was made, you know, into the the Blake Edwards movie with Julie Christie, and Omar shreve this espionage stuff. And so there's all this kind of very playful stuff going on in the background throughout throughout the movie. I really enjoyed those. Yeah. Even some of the lines in the movie, you touched about how he references. Mike corley own. In another part where he says something like, it's it's nice work. If you can get it. And I know that that's from another film as well. And it's like it is so smart, and I have to say not only is the writing smart, but is so well directed and there are actual moments. Even though I've seen this movie. I don't know how many times there are still moments where I forget what's gonna happen. And they pull the rug out from under me. And after however long it's been since this movie came out thirty some years that that can still happen. I was very impressed by and then there's another thing which would be mentioned is the how the New York locations are used. It's almost apprising chose New York is where to film something that you know, is something like this would be done in LA or somewhere, you know, 'cause they work in the movie business yet. It's all set in in New York, and there's not like their theater actors are all doing television and movies..

"And then we're not even introduced I mentioned Brian Dennehy. We're not even introduced to his character until were forty some minutes into this movie. And we get maybe five minutes screen time between Dennehy Brown as this movie goes on. But really, it's very the thing that I like about this movie so much is the structure of it. And the way that they are both investigating the same thing at the same time almost one following the other one's footsteps or both coming to the same conclusions at the same time. But through different means, and solving this case, and there's this not necessarily rivalry going on in the other thing that I like a lot too. Is that even though Brian Brown? The raleigh. Character has committed this crime in air quotes, he murders. Jerry Orbach, who's this mob, boss whose name is nNcholas Franco, even though he murders him in broad daylight or in public in it repeats that whole opening scene that we saw this murderer in wrestling. You gotta quit talking about the lobsters where he repeats this murder. And there's a lot to me in this murder reminds me a lot of the godfather as far as that murder of Solazzo. And and the police can't remember if he's a captain, but the the murder there that happens in that Mike Corleone does in the first godfather film rally even references that he said Michael Corleone went to Sicily, where am I going to go? So yeah, I mean, it was very conscious not want somebody good. I mean, very good plant gun come on toil, which is nNcholas. All right. Talking about diploma and blow out is is is good. I do think I hadn't thought about that. But I do think that that was probably a conscious. Not there's like you said it's made by movie fans for movie fans, comparing Bryan, and Brian I like that Brian Brown, and so, you know, movie professional, and Brian Dennehy doesn't seem to like movies. His his, you know, when he comes into raleigh's workshop is stuff that people pay money to look at this crap, you know, and his ideas, he likes Raleigh as suspect for the murderer away. Because this guy's obviously obsessed with you know, blood and violence and must be a sicko. I think that that it's nice to for people who like horror movies and violence stuff to see Brian Brown portrayed as as such a cool. Great guy who is obsessed with the blood and violence and things like that making it appear like that. Because most of the. Our fans, I know are pretty cool people too. He probably listens to heavy metal music to probably and it becomes clear that this is this is a very specific genre. That was very popular in the eighties. The action comedy the unless I'm mistaken. We don't really see that rematch anymore. And so we're not really or at least younger audiences may not even understand the tone. They may be expecting very different direction and very different types of things to happen in a movie like affects, but in that time period, there's very specific genre where you know, just because Dan of an aura who plays Ellen, right. The girlfriend you talk, but the actress she's knocked off in very violence just killed and then within a few scenes, it's like he's moved on that can happen. And I guess this particular John, but you wouldn't see it anywhere else. And I know you probably talk about affects to later, but at the same thing happens in that in that movie. It's very very. Odd. But you know, you have to you have to sort of embrace and move on. You know, that this Diana an aura who's, you know, you're hoping she'll be in the home movie because she's so great to look at and she's she just sort of. I think is great on camera. And yet she's just summarily written out very early on. This was the golden age of buddy cop films, and that whole idea of we're gonna pair these two uneasy people together, you know, where it's going to be the hard way..
