"So then. I'm figuring. I'm getting some kind of message here. I got to do so I have to follow up on this. So I do a Google search at three in the morning and happened to spell ever it the wrong way. That led me to a guy who was her next door neighbor in a trailer park in Chicago. And she had performed for 40 years. Everybody said she was dead. The record company said she was dead. There was no one accepting royalties for and so this became a real Immediate mission and I had to find this person. And so talk to Gerry Butler about it. I said, you know what you would you go back with ready for this. He's like if you could find her because no one's seen her. And here she was. Living next door to this neighbor who I just happen to reach before am ethnicity like, Hey, you don't know me, but that's fantastic. And we found her. She came on the show. The first night she had a chance and demons. She hadn't been on the show are performing all for four years. She hadn't sang for years, and she was very nervous and very scary. She went to the hospital, and she almost flatlined twice. The next day. Basically, we just had someone be there with her the whole time and watch her and trying to comfort her. She takes Jerry's hand on stage. They sing this beautiful song together. Let it be me. And two weeks later, she's dead. Oh, my God. So you know, that's how it's always worked. For me. It's just by listening and following and doing. It's that you feel that in your gut, don't you? It's exactly where I feel like or and when I had no one. It's really right in the back of my neck is just a feeling that comes in. I can't describe it. It's euphoric, but it tells me I'm on the right path and that I'm not letting my ego drive the situation. DJ, we're going to take a little break. We'll come back and talk more about your work. "Here's my ballast easier sent in or or who knows, but like any type of election night. Needle or forecast I think is going to be fraught. Yeah, I. Mean we deal with questions, Jerry hands on. Does that mean? Nate? We're not going to have an election night forecast. Their. Negotiation about that. If it were totally up to me than we would try very lightly on that I think when we might try do is have. Scenario? She can game out. Okay. If Biden wins this net state then has a math look Ben. But like without getting too much trouble with my boss's boss's right like, yeah, I mean I think the very worst manifestation of like kind of jumping to conclusions might be if you try to like take all these unknowns for which you have no real precedent and plug them into like some type of model. Now, I do think if like if you literally are. Are The New York Times and you said we literally to vote fifteen people to this election night or election month project halftime from July first through November third and they're gonNA research every nuance of how the vote will come in and talk to secretaries of state elections officials in like plan for thirty contingencies if you wanted to massive scale into it, then I then that might be really valuable, but that'd be mostly reporting project not like in statistical project right. You Know Cisco models work when you have some past precedents to rely on and we can get into big debates about like how many precedents are enough with sample sizes? Enough. Right. If you must sample size of zero than statistics, doesn't do much good right to rely on. To, understand what his fate a new situation now I guess I might say is News Jason's tend to cover what the president says is news in. Often their first tweet is president says X. You might get election day to be like trump said, if trump says look if you go to vote in Florida, you will die cove in. You may not want to do an alert on that and just have a transcript or with the president's and I think this is with the president seems to have an incentive to create misleading communist. It'll be incumbent upon the news media facebook twitter to be very vigilant about making sure he does not sort of alter the electoral process in problematic ways spreading misinformation. So, furnace I this will be an election like none other. Sorry to our into all of our listeners who might have been excited for a regular election night. But I guess in exchange, you get potentially weeks of election-night coverage. So hopefully, you can live with that, but I, think, that's does anyone have any thoughts as we wrap up here? I mean every every election in. Every election Gaylon How? Every looking gets crazier. How can things? He'd even crazier next election..

"Right now, Colin flash we call a Famer and former Dallas quarterback Troy Aikman made headlines by saying to foreign five Cowboys need a complete overhaul. And they wanna go back to their winning ways. Aikman has also been very vocal of Dak Prescott struggles in your three. And even though the QB is averaging a career low fifty one point five QBR Aikman is not ready to give up on him as he told. We'll Cain yesterday. I think the great thing when you're investing that kind of money in any player, you wanna know that the games important to them that they're going to do all the big can to improve and and help the football team, and he certainly fits that category. So I would have no reservations to pay into. I think the the best years are are still way ahead of Dak and he's going to be a really good player in this league for a long time. Now when it comes to team owner and GM Jerry Jones Aikman. Didn't hold back pointing the changes that need to be made at the top. We've seen coaches come through the Cowboys organization and the results by and large have been the same. If you're going through long stretches to where you're not achieving your goals and your mediocre best. I think there there needs to be changes or there needs to needs to be an honest as to why that is occurring. Now, let's get you back. The I take. How big guest on the Wilkin show yesterday? Cowboys legend Troy Aikman joining the program and making some interesting comments, and I was able to book the wheel. Can I take today if not Troy Aikman well to have you here? I'll would you Stephen since the number one cabinet hater what can be done to that Jerry hands over control of America's team. Well, before I say anything else, I wanted to applaud will Cain. I listened to that interview will declare the job Eytan, buddy. Thank you real good job. I will say I will say this to you. You're not getting rid of Jerry Jones. That's obviously. So, but what you have to do is convinced Jerry Jones to hire somebody that he not only loves but respects, and that's hot. I'm gonna make a suggestion. I think that Jerry Jones should try and hire Tony Romo. I think you should try to hire somebody like Tony Romo somebody that he loves like an adopted son. And he would respect that has the charisma not just a football acme. 'cause if you listen Joni Romo talk football the man clearly is incredibly knowledgeable about the game of football get Tony Romo up in there. But don't just stop the surround and insulate yourself with people not just just Stephen who. I know tries and get me wrong. Advocating get rid of Steven Jones. I'm saying Stephen Jones have somebody like Tony Romo. Be GM makes joy he has the license and the power to hire the coach..

"Because Jason had gone in twenty four. He went twelve and four, and then he turned around and twenty sixteen thirteen in three to argue with those two year thirteen and three and started owned by when he got fired and he did. So what Jerry tells me Jerry will hire and fire whom he wants. But this is the situation. There's a reason why there's not a whole lot of people calling for Jason cares job because they know Jason's not coaching the team basically said it doesn't matter who the coach of it's the exact same thing on a yearly basis. They. Underachieve because what? But Jason Garrett to me is is unincorporated coaches I've ever listened to when I hear the behind the scenes locker the documentary stuff. It just I could see where it's just tune out is just a m- watching the documentary that was on Amazon. I think it was we're we'd watch the team meetings and guys are falling asleep while he's talking time. It's just not a good sign. It's not it's not who you want running your football team in. So what did we see you think Jerry Jones had a lot of input into the two week game planning for Tennessee? And you think Jerry Jones was running practice every day. He was not how did the team respond coming off a bye against the thirtieth ranked offense in the Tennessee titans. Led by one Marcus. That was very that's on Ason. Team. But good teams don't LAN Ed coming out of the by. They just don't but that team came out flat and uninspired and unemotional with no urgency. No electricity. No passion. They just mailed in a two week prep game. Right. That's on the head coach to me. So as as a fan, and I hate to say this. But this is I've been thrust into this position. Every time I've picked this team. I always say I have to do it in spite of Jerry, and Jason I hope the team figures out how to win in spite of those two guys, and they can occasionally we'll see stretches where they will. But now, I'm thrust into position because that was the turning point that was a collapse, and I did really agree. And I think Troy for saying one thing I can't think of a loss that was this bad at this point of year. I agree. I told you that to start the show yesterday is a longtime fan that was hitting bottom that was the worst under the circumstance and early in the game. They flash all their potential. So for you, and then they didn't cash in and you know, what happened instead of blowing out Tennessee, they virtually got blown out at home. So as a fan for the next five games. So it's goes at Philly at falcons, Washington New Orleans Philly again. So that's fire. Five highly lose berry. You would say Washington's kind of fifty fifth, right, right? Okay. But the point is as a fan, I am now thrust in the position of having to root against my team for the next five games. Because I still believe I said it yesterday. And I believe it with all, my, heart and soul. If this team loses five in a row more to fall to three and ten even Jerry would get shamed. Into doing something. And I think Jason would have to go at that point. I'm predicting that if they lose the next five on that Monday morning following that. He will let Jason go. Okay. And I need it. I need something to make to force Jerry's hand beyond Jason figuring out. How to win another couple of games? It just doesn't get you anywhere. It's over a Jason Jason Garrett doesn't doesn't move you to to climb a wall run through a brick wall for how to Chan Gailey. He does move me to climb walls with my living room. What about Jane gave me with the inspire? What about a great pup? Dave, Dave Campo, very well ultimate bumpy. Wait. Not a puppet, I think wages. Oh, man. More than you think. No way. I know I knew father very well their own people. Wade is that he fire and brimstone. What What about about with with him? him? Hey, he couldn't hope. Oklahoma bears wizar- might have been buying brimstone and get you going. The problem was he's like Jerry's best friend in the world and drinking, buddy. So you got issues going on there. Okay. Deep issues. What about Jimmy could Jimmy get them going? What about coach part sales you watch NFL fields? And he said hi, give them go with Jerry Wald skill. Now. I covered the Jimmy teams. Jimmy, inspired.

"York. Two seven three three seven sixty six sixty six. Yeah. It's amazing. Not a ton to actually say about it. It's a home run. It's not a home run. But you guys love talking about it. So let's talk about it's a bore with Darren in Trumbull, Connecticut. What do you got? I got a couple of things for you guys cowboy. Fan. But anyways, what was the catch? Crop ability on that. Play by Mookie Betts. High level of difficulty very high. Exactly. So it's probably the American League MVP this year. So. And then you have gel west a sixty six year old man weighs about four hundred and seventy five pounds running down the line making the call and he's Andre the giant. Anyways. By point was cats probability hasn't been what two percent three percent. Four percent of the at bats. I was going to. Yeah. I would have put it around fifteen or twenty. All right fair enough. And then my point about the Yankees is everyone's talking about Manny Machado, Bryce Harper. These names cut it out we need guys like Michael Brantley annual Murphy contract hitting lefty, no more strikeouts in this liner you add Bryce Harper. They're having another hundred and fifty strikeouts dared say patriots slash Yankee fan. Hey, I was born lucky I was in the Marine Corps. My dad used to send the oldest up when I was younger. I was born with a Yankee t-shirt patriot pajama bottoms. I can't I don't know. How old were you born I was born in eighty what's your social security number? Whereas we're just asking a lot of personal questions generation nex. Look, I. I honestly I look at it. And if you want to sit there and complain about the call then complain about it all you want because I don't know what's going to get changed. I don't understand how you can look at it and be somebody in charge and not say, that's a home run. Well, one thing that Joe Sherman had in the post day, which I think was really a smart idea. Which is I don't know if this would have changed it or not. But just questioning why Joe west is in that position in the first place. The guy is sixty six he's obviously four hundred pounds. But he's a bit of a he's a bigger guy. Bigger guy. He's behind home plate. He called a very good game. I thought what was that game? Four three. Joe to be fair is also one of those guys who loves the camera. Exactly. Yeah. He is. He's got some angel Hernandez five but did he call a good game behind the plate? I thought he did him behind the plate. Okay. Maybe that's a better fit for him wide. Why does major league baseball have to shuffle these guys around? So they have to play every single place on the diamond. That's what Joe Sherman posited. I think that's smart. Maybe that's one way. My thing is just about the technology because things like this happened in the postseason, and it's gonna lead to more not less. It's going to lead to more camera angles. More replace another point that was brought up is that all this technology is now leading to more cross ups between pitchers and catchers because the signs after be so elaborate because you're basically know that the other team has been stealing them since spring training. Yeah. Look, I don't know. What else you're supposed to do? But was Joel who brought up the idea of having an earpiece. There was somebody who brought up the Joe Girardi. I said that about earpieces for the players. The other words the catcher the pitcher and. Bart Scott and Joe Girardi, I apologize. Oh my God. I mean, it's ridiculous thought. But I apologize. I didn't realize it was you how you're supposed to you got it from bar, but how you supposed to communicate that if you're a catcher to the pitcher you talk to them. It's cool. Talking talking, but they don't know your coworkers. You can switch figure those pretty quick. No, those are easy. You can you can say whatever into the Mike and Dan give the signal. So we own this. Delta do symbol. Jerry. Hey, jerry. Hey, guys, say before I get to my Mookie Betts, I think definitely if you want to solve this problem. I mean Yankee Stadium as short porch in right to move all the fences three four feet, don't even fill it in with cement, just leave a big gap for no fan could ever with any home ball ever. Again. Did you just tune in? What's that is just tune in about twenty minutes ago? I also hate that I agree with I don't even with the walkway just leave it. So if someone does jump over the top and eighteenth, but anyway. Rules written the top of the wall is in play. If you look at the video, and I'm not a Red Sox fan. I'm not a Yankee fan. I'm a met fan. He's leaning against the wall and his hands are in front of a which means if you were to draw an imaginary wall straight up his hands are in the field of play. Meaning if he's leaning against the fence and his hands are in front of him. That means his hands on the field of play not anything else. Just and. He interfered with bookie pets that was that was the right call. That's why they did all the it that they look at his hands and say it did an imaginary wall running up ten feet. His hands would hit the wall. He's in the field of play. That's why the Jerry hand. Or was it even just like a fingertip? He's in the field of play. Wasn't a mean. I wanna talk about straight letter of the law there. I still don't buy it. I still don't buy it. I think it's kind of along the lines of what part was talking about earlier some sort of chip in the ball, some sort of electronic it's like. Sensing do this all the time. Electron dog sensing a little beep. Extend the shock this little. Or or the first base umpire get shots. Like that would be funny to say the ball went over the fence. And I wanted to be a free for all wants to play. Ripa glove on they want to do that in soccer. They have the goal line technology the laser beam. Cannot have your technology be outweighed by the technology in tennis. Says better technology that baseball or dog collars? Yes. Did it toll road dog when I was a kid named Norton? We have the invisible fencing on which turns out. No. Is only inhumane when you gotta go pick up your dog, thirty miles from Nepal. Another dog in heat. I believe in the County Donegal to pick up dog takes net. Nookie around the hood dog got a reputation. Your dog you've ever put on the collar man, they got they got ever done. It. I got all ten acres like something. Have you ever put on the caller go across? What I.

Now, scientists are finding that old growth forests may help the birds cope with rising temperatures just burns of Oregon public broadcasting and earth, fix explains researcher hand Kim and his colleagues are developing a new experiment in Oregon's cascade mountains there seeing if they can catch tag, and then track the movements of a tiny yellow headed songbird called the hermit warbler. Researchers trap is set though when birds fly in they hit the net and dropped down into pocket and lying down there like a hammer within just a few minutes. The hermit warbler takes the bait is in another win for the decoy learning how the warblers move could help explain how bird species are dealing with rising temperatures and climate change. Matt bet studies birds at Oregon state, we have these long term population monitoring routes across the north west and surprising number of species are declining actually more than about half of the species that live in forest like this are in decline for the hermit warbler. Those declines are up to four percent each year. Rising temperatures can trick where some birds can live and where they can find foods research by bets and Sarah fry found warblers declined in areas with young forests including those replanted after clearcut logging, but in landscapes that had more older forest. I their population declines were lowered or even reversed even though the climate has been warming the warblers thrive in areas with old growth. They think the reason is in part because these forests are cooler than younger forests up to five degrees, cooler and the hermit warblers use this to their advantage. Now, they want to try to prove it. And that's where this new study comes in transmitter twelve preconceived three five seven Adam Hadley in Hankyu, Kim move the trapped hermit warblers feathers aside to attach a tiny radio tag to its back using non toxic glue clue gluing fake eyelashes on on people. They'll get another step closer to understanding how native species Mike cope with rising temperatures. Don't see it likely that hermit warblers. They'll have your. "A difference is is crazy ability versus good ability versus crazy work ethic where versus decent work ethic and the work ethic with the decent physical ability will win. There's, there's that innate. I mean, Michael Jordan obviously took it to another level like Tom Brady today. Today's Thursday, right? Tom Brady will at the end of practice today, New England. He will take the trainer and he will work with the trainer and the trainer will hold harness to him and he will work on his quarterback drops for the half hour after practice. He'll be the last guy off the field today. Right? And so that attitude is what what separated Jerry just was. So naturally gifted porter was so naturally gifted. It became so easy for them that to to. To win. He didn't really have to work as hard. That was my other theory and have it with many people in life. It's sort of my. I know people who can eat whatever they want, and they never gained an ounce and they'd lack discipline because they just sort of whatever all the time. If you think about that constant discipline, not you that constant discipline where you're always sort of up against like, should I have that I want that I'm not about. I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna do it that come by with the tray with talking with you want that. I'm not going to be, but I would argue that it's it's a constant breeding and re upping of your personal discipline. It's all overall plan. It's not, oh, it's just about food. It's about life what it is. It's at the end of the lunch and they bring by the train. It's got the cheesecake on it and you're going with every soul near every fiber and your body. You want it and you know where's my buddy? Right goes, give me five cheesecakes take your interfere and put a cigarette and one of them on ever gain an ounce. But yet it hasn't served his life. Well, you know what I'm saying? So was porter who was. Shifted who famously at least you listen to this podcast through a bullet to me with his right hand, and then put the ball in this left hand through another bullet. There's remarkable catch the ball with either hand. It was remarkable. He had these huge hands out Davis was obsessed with Hannah's. I mean, it was huge. It was obsessed with in talk about in the book. And if you didn't know everybody's hand size, if he would have called me up on the phone in the morning and said, you know that guy, Adam, who is Adam Corolla, how big are his hands? And I would have to say nine and a half. And if I didn't have it off the top of my head, I said, well, let me look that up. He said, f, I could look it up and click the phone hanging, right? So he loved hand size and Jerry's hands were huge. They were eleven. They were huge. So they measure from they were like Hanky across the thumb, lay it flat rate, their eleven. They were huge and he had great soft hand. So he could catch the ball with either have the greatest guy ever seen catch the ball. My life was Cris Carter, Chris Carter marketable, but Jerry Puerta was close to Chris Carter in terms eye hand coordination. It's so was Porter's work ethic, good, mediocre or poor. Okay..

The back of the waste ball one. Not week. Healy up a little bitty steps outside of the box. Now digs back in deep from the right side. A lot of room right up the middle for Healy. But one on a strike on the outside corner. That had a lot of movement to it is he was bending back again. And then it just clipped the outside edge. That was a strike. I think he may be wondering if it was up and out of his own, but it barely got in there. Wanted one of the Mariners first baseman. There comes a pitch a strike again wanted to. Perfectly placed upper outside corner. Healy's next hall Rodwell tie his career-best he swatted twenty five last season in as uniform. He puts his right hand up calls for time. Now grips the bat. Well, here is Daniel Bobak four hundred twenty nine foot home run of the fourth to even the score three. That's our Coors light score. The pitch to Vogel back. He takes a strike Daniel wasted. No time his home homerun coming on the very first pitch of that at bat, and it was throttled you knew it instantly that was gone. The next pitch to Vogel back out the way it's outside on ball in the one strike now right now when you look at Vogel backs young career he has been kind of the classic quite a player. He has filled every expectation and triple age is looking for a chance to really prove himself over an extended period at the major league level. Of course that opportunity came early this year broke camp with the Mariners the one outside to balls at a strike Daniela had a tough go at it early. Spent the majority of the season with the reindeer. But he had a ferocious spring training and really forced Jerry's hand to put him on the opening day roster. The next pitch to vocal back. He swings to ground ball over on the right side of the infield coward. Is there the second baseman gathers and throws the first forever three? Well, this is a very quick one two three top of the six we go to the whole half. Our Coors light score. Mariners of the angels tied at three. What does it take to rebuild trust at wellsfargo?
