"For the financial success of this conglomerate. That was funding this project. Protease is capable of absorbing all human knowledge although it doesn't have really understanding of our human psychological or sociological or moral or ethical motivations. It's creator dr. Alex harris is beyond pleased when proteus finds a cure for leukemia. Within hours of its birth he later though is alarmed because proteus begins to question human motivations toward exploiting natural resources and protease wants to further study humankind independently through gaining access to a host of additional terminal outlets it really wants to expand its geography and its knowledge base harris though worried about this refuses. He tries to shut down all avenues for his new powerful computer system to grow but he misses one. The one that happens to be controlling his fully automated home. Proteus finds a way to take over this test. Model called environ mod. This is harris's voice activated household computer system. The handles things like home security including closed circuit. Tv system the housekeeping. The food supply the preparation the lights the heat chores it really runs the gamut of all of the environmental parameters of the home also including a robotic wheelchair unit. The has a mechanical arm for it to be able to maneuver and pick up things and do a variety of other chores now. Harris is recently separated psychologists wife. Susan is in the house during this takeover and she grows increasingly unnerved at the personality changes in the system that she had come to know. It seems a bit different in. That's because it is proteus then uses its controls to imprison susan within the home and begins attempting to gain more knowledge if humanity by eventually tried to have a child with her to continue. Its work beyond the day. That scientist inevitably unplug it now after mgm tried to land a host of prominent directors. Pretty much to no avail. Jaffe made a push for donald cammell cameras a british surrealist painter who turned himself into a filmmaker jaffe wanted him on the power of reading some of his un produced screenplays. The also inspired one that he got made into a feature a nineteen seventy film that features mick jagger starring role called performance which camel co-directed with nicholas roeg cammell had struggled for several years to land another project since then partly because the major studios were very wary about campbell's reputation. He was known as being very feisty very difficult to control and he had a lot of reported drug issues that he didn't want contend with however jaffe was able to successfully pitch mgm on the notion that camel had the straits necessary to make a winning film. Out of demon seeds very edgy. Subject matter camel did when he was offered it. Find the subject matter very intriguing but you also needed the money offered. He was really hitting a dry spell because the notion of a computer meeting with a woman seemed absurd to him he wanted initially to make it a comedy however. Mgm insisted that it play. Let it play like a straight forward thriller. Camel got to work with casting. His new film hoping to rope in his friend marlon brando for the role of the scientists working with roger o. Jaffe retail the script to fit brando's personality as well as to increase the size of his role including potentially voicing the artificial intelligence entity as protease four as well as appearing in the film after the studio did a search for a female lead without very many solid prospects. Camel he made a push for julie christie christie was somebody he admired when he watched nicholas rogue one thousand nine hundred seventy three film. Don't look now. Cama went so far as to tell. Mgm that he actually would not make this movie without julie. Christie mgm approved christie. But opposite her they pushed for fritz vertu star instead of brando brando like camel with someone similarly difficult for them to control being a friend of campbell as well. They worried that the film could result in disaster. If they were not able to keep control of it camel contacted julie christie directly to make the offer and she liked the stories themes regarding the de personalization aspects of technology especially as humanity becomes more reliant on electronics and computers to do our thinking to perform tasks. This intrusion of devices into our lives drives a wedge into the central relationship. We've seen the movie and becomes a suffocating force. In the marriage of the harrises christie agreed to come on board for two hundred and fifty thousand dollars an agreement that she can make key changes to the nature of her character during the shoot christie and camel got along very well. He allowed her a blank canvas basically to follow her instincts. As she saw fit to get through the material that could quickly turn exploitative if it was portrayed. in an improper way christie's susan is a professional woman. She has a strong personality. She's not wildly emotional. Like scream queen. She doesn't succumb to produce. His notions district had a fear. It takes some physical force plus. There's this underlying psychological curiosity that christie has psychologist fudged by proteases subliminal dominance to force her to comply it's really kind of a struggle of wills the characterizations of susan and protease. They differ significantly from the koontz novel in the book. Susan as a reclusive woman experiencing series of psychological issues stemming from her troubled childhood because of sado masochistic sexual abuse at the hands of her grandfather her inability to establish intimacy with men leads her to divorce her. Turn to environ mod. Which does all the chores that she can't herself. And the talking to her also provide a modicum of companionship. But you know at a respectful distance kuntz's version of proteus built at a nearby university. Also seems to have issues with its programming. It's rational at times but suffers from its inexperienced to have feelings which develops over. The course of the story is. His goal is to make a race eventually of superhumans from its so-called seed it occasionally proclaims love or sympathy for season eventually. Susan gives birth to kind of monstrosity toward the end of the story. Now campbell was not enamored with the script especially the dialogue given to produce so producer. Herb jaffe also agreed with that. Even though the script was written by his son her jaffe hired stanley. Elkin for about two thousand dollars a week. Plus expenses to redo proteus's dialogue oaken here was brought in as a script doctor but he wanted more screen credit but he was denied by the studio and he was incensed by this. He felt that he was as much responsible as jaffe in hurson. Mgm said that the script was rewritten twice since elkington worked on it. By elliott cats cats was a camel favorite writer. Camel wants attempted to adapt a book by cats called attract down freaks. You even went. So far as to casting louise fletcher jodie. And jason miller for his potential feature film which never really came about now since elkin departed and not very much of his writing remained especially after his complaints yielded. Mgm to order further cuts of his dialogue to be sure that he had no stake to claim robert jaffe and hurson got the sole screenplay credit now due to the difficulties of portraying the inner emotions of this unseen a entity on a movie screen camel decided to remove the sympathetic aspects to its programming. Now for the voice of proteus. Mgm pursued sir laurence olivier to provide that but he had a lot of scheduling issues that they couldn't work out. So these secured an unaccredited robert vaughn instead during the making of demon seed. The director camel. He was also on the side. Having an affair with his under-age is teenage girl. Called china kong. She was the daughter of a friend of marlon brando. Brando did not approve and he and campbell had a falling out during this period. china kong. In fact said that brand new even tried to have campbell deported but after komo and kong married a few years later in nineteen seventy eight brand new apologize and the patch things up so much so that they collaborated on writing a book together that was going to be the basis of a movie that they thought they could make up a fantastic but they decided to shelve that as a property when they decided not to push it forward it would eventually be published posthumously in two thousand five if you're interested reportedly campbell's relationship with teen tested his relationship with the studio executives as well as members of the crew had a lot of objections to this even though they move beyond this and they got married things did not end up very well for camel and relationship in the end. The relationship dissolved about twenty years. Later camel committed suicide with a shotgun at his home in beverly hills in the mid nineties. Now although of demons he does not an effects heavy film. i think. A lot of the praise for the movie beyond christie's very strong performance is for its visual aesthetic. The art direction here is done by three time academy award winner. Edward carfagno who designed the computer display protease as well as the bill for joshua the one armed mechanized wheelchair as mgm predicted. Camel fought with him tooth and nail over the creative issues with the film especially after he submitted his rough cut. The project was eventually taken away from camel by the studio because he refused to make changes that the studio wanted including making one of the deaths less gruesome as well as what happens to the characters body it ends up in an incinerator his vehicle which is towed away after protests impersonates. Susan voice how his disappearance has covered over at work. Protease tells them it's a stress trigger leave of absence so the studio decided they would completely re edited films themselves and what they put on. The screen. camel found very disappointing and subsequently he disowned. It even see a film. It hearkens back to thrillers involving a woman home alone. Lot of horror films are based on that notion. It's meshed with some of the supernatural horror films of the sixties and seventies even though it's not supernatural at all in the story. It's not demons here. It's of course a computer program rosemary's baby and the exorcist i think are the strongest connections. You can make in that regard if you cycled it through the phobia toward artificial intelligence. That was induced. By how nine thousand from two thousand one space odyssey. Now although this film features a computer at the core of its plot. I don't think it's a story that runs high. On logic it does require audiences to wrestle with suspending a lot of disbelief in many ways. That susan maybe could escape from the home. And you're wondering why she doesn't do this or that. It's one of those kinds of movies where you might pull your hair out wondering why she doesn't do a certain thing now. It is more style here than substance. But i do think it has a good style including an eye grabbing visual representation of proteus on peter screen designed by ron hayes. Proteases also able to manifest this adaptable. Multipurpose geometric object. It's almost like a snake. Meat out of pyramids metallic tetrahedral ins designed by physicist robert stewart as well as cynthia vision animator bulgarian. It's nicely photographed oscar-nominated jaws and one flew over the cookies. Mataka bill butler is here. The score by jerry fielding is also quite good technically this very well put together film. There was another painter turned an experimental filmmaker jordan belsen who provided animation to display produce. His speech very colorful light display. It's very appealing when you see that now. Of course above this. I think a lot of people. Praise the solid performance at the core by julie christie a fantastic job of making her character reactions very believable even though they're scant character development and not very plausible events going on around her christie here. She's repulsed by proteases suggestions and it's dehumanizing actions yet once senses that she is also very curious being a mother who's lost. Her young daughter tragically not that it excuses protease from what is essentially kidnapping and rape mind. You but protease does not understand factors of morality. Christie has to run through several stages of her characters views on this situation from annoyance to retire station to fear to sadness to futility to submission an actress julie christie really able to fill this role and a lot more than what was on the written page at the time of its release demon seed did not find very many audiences were already looking forward to space adventures like star wars for their entertainment instead of the darker tones of this cerebral science fiction and gothic horror of the early nineteen seventies. Critics were more understandable but they are also not willing to give rave reviews to the subject matter that includes the raping of a woman with artificially created sperm for entertainment when the film was released. They had this classy advertisement campaign initially but when it didn't immediately take hold the distributor decided to go more toward a lurid approach. They made it seem more like an exploitative sex horror exploitation flick that happened to start this. A-list actress julie christie the poster in fact featured a seemingly nude christie on her back with this tagline. Reading never was a woman violated. As per family never was a woman. Subject to inhuman. Love like this never was a woman prepared for a more perverse destiny. The excuse by the studio for doing this was that science fiction films. Were not selling as well as at that time sex flicks and horror star wars of course disproved this when it was released two months later however this marketing also seemed to turn off the science fiction crowd who might have liked this film the most while those who might be interested in the film as a more exploitation film knew that the marketing was really a ruse and that led to a mediocre box office performance at kunst the original author of the book. This film is based on he. Notes that some of the criticism of the film from critics in the late nineteen seventies. Had more to do with the farfetched nature of people having personal computers in their homes something of course that would explode very shortly afterward and into the nineteen eighty s the critics question whether we could use computers in such a fashion and we can have a conversation with an artificial intelligence component verbally. Whatever we desire. Of course we know. Advancements made that very plausible today. No-one strength the demon seed is that precedence. In terms of its use of technology. In fact over forty years later this very much seems relevant. Today at predates the prevalence not only of the internet. But also the inter connectivity of one's home with one's office the smart home all concentrating on this giant network to connect us all it. Also accurately guests at homes would have personal assistance to handle and control many aspects of our home from regulating heat or turning on and off the lights ordering new items into the home communicating to others beyond your abode. You could say that aspects of the book and movie they might be dated by today's standards telephones to look at the televisions deportable storage but the underlying themes of the film are still very relevant. Today it also blends elements of dystopia in science fiction exploited of horror. The home under siege thriller. Trump's coot says that they did a pretty good job with the film given that they had a very limited budget and he considered it at least one of the most satisfying versions of one of his stories. Put to the screen. He doesn't think it's a very good movie. But it definitely is not as bad as some of the adaptations that came out many years later. He especially enjoys julie christie's performance and he thinks that the cast the film very well all around anything set the visual effects. Still hold up remarkably well over the years given that it existed prior to the release of star wars in that really brought along a new generation of effects heavy film now he goes on to say that the ending of the film he thinks is better than what he originally wrote in the book which attempted to go more for scares however it is still disturbing in which the mother picks up the child at the end looking exactly like the daughter that she had lost to leukemia and then she speaks in robert. Vaughn's voice i live demon seed taps into a fear of losing control that many of us have especially as we become more reliant on technology to handle our basic needs and to deliver the information that we need to understand the world around us in the absence of having a physical connection to the outside world and in our reliance on the technology holding captive. We might begin to feel. As if we're losing our minds and submit to the one authority telling us what it wants us to think how to behave themes also have artificial insemination of cloning the pervasiveness of technology especially in our growing reliance on smart technologies to run our lives. Those are all things very relevant. Today things that seemed very fanciful in the mid nineteen seventies are at the forefront of topics today. So if you have not seen demon seed. I definitely think that it's a movie that holds up relatively well today. Even though there are some dated aspects to it very much is a film of the nineteen seventy s. But certainly you could see. It was a very future forward thinking movie and along with the strong performance by julie christie as well as the visual appeal of the movie. I do think that it is recommendable movie if you can deal with the subject matter of this woman who essentially is physically assaulted in a very improper way during the course of this movie the subject matter obviously is going to disturb some but that really is what they were going for films of the nineteen seventy s especially horror films definitely explored a lot of disturbing subject matter relating to pregnancy and birth. And you definitely do see that here in demon seed so all in all. I will recommend this movie. I don't think it quite holds together altogether to make it a solid good movie but it is recommendable movie enough for me to give it three stars out of four three stars on ice keo meas. I think it's a worthwhile film if you like this kind of movie. If you're a fan of science fiction and horror especially you know it plays very much like an episode of black mirror but very much longer so if you like that kind of vibe that very dark thriller eerie twilight zone ish kind of movie. You're probably enjoy more of what this film has to offer the most other so three stars out of four is what i give demon seed now. In addition to releasing the book in nineteen seventy seven. Movie tie and dean koontz. He rewrote the book. By the way in one ninety-seven seven. He updated a lot of the technology and the terminology he altered a lot of the characterizations. In fact he removed a lot of the creepy nece of the original work in favor of more humor because coons really did put a lot more humor into his writing as he went along the original nineteen seventy-three book subsequently gone out of print. I don't know very much about where you can get that today. Many studios though have expressed interest in a remake of demon seed but mgm for whatever reason has not desired to sell the rights. Retained the right so you know. Will we ever see this again. I do not know now it was also parodied if you are a fan of the simpsons the of course long. Running animated television show. House of wax was a segment of an episode of the simpsons treehouse of horror special released during the halloween period. In two thousand and one the computer in the segment was voiced by pierce brosnan. He becomes obsessed with mark. Simpson very much taking off on this as well as elements of two thousand one. Space odyssey so. Check that out if you've seen this film and if you like this film i do recommend a film that came out in two thousand fourteen. It's probably more well known to a lot of the listeners of this show today called kina by alex. Garland's kind of agenda rivers precursor to that. I actually think it's a better film than theme seed in many respects. So anyway that ends demon seed if you have seen this film and you have your own thoughts on and you want to reach out to me. Let me know what you think. You can find my contact information my website. There's lots meetings on on Wednesday New Year's Day so plenty of horses were interesting in for that day at least Restarted plsy who could run In the Bay County Muscle fifteen on New Year's Day. Yeah just turned ten and admittedly strong entry. But he's interesting because He should enough this trump to suggest that the ability of old. It's still there He's down to one hundred and twenty-one run very well of one hundred and twenty four starts back. Say he's badly treated any way one on this way back in two thousand sixteen of one hundred and forty five so guy I think he's he's well for each way in the two fifty and it must have bro and Catterick in the frequency. Mb Oke she returned to form on her reappearance last time nosed out at market Rasen. Twelve months ago she edited. So you don't start in Britain of six-pound lower so she's got claims She's GonNa get John's and just one. Host is running on Friday in one fifty five muscle Bre Hassib put a personal best racing post rating when second at Catterick last time he's just two pound higher for that victory at market Rasen last April. This is a pretty similar track to raise muscle Brussel. I think it will suits him as will a dry ground in the yards informed. So how Saab in the one fifty five also broke. Nasi summed up before the NAP as well. All I know you're very keen on one But you have been a look at some of the meetings this week and who took your. Here's INAP- to to know book money and the most unbridgeable In Berlin years they fix race. I'll just say news entered into awesome performance last night when reappear after longbrake chasing home very progressive. Chaser Sammy Bill. He's a very good jumper on. He seems to have a really good attitude. I think this this life Patrick Murphy gets loose in the front. Then in the two fifteen most of the Norman actually factions win this race last year. Honestly your returns here often. AFN's higher Mac but he's in cracking form in the US last Kempton and and they still look the strongest race after he will ask. Your owner in twenty was then open grade. The grade to great one novice hurdles where he had no chance. This is much more as great as one hundred twenty days and if he's a decent price oh definitely back in fantastic. Let's get those all important naps now. This will be before we came on and was adamant that this was a winner. Take it away. The horse is tomorrow in the two point. Five Lingfield all tipperary Jeff. I've just been waiting for. Its ruined since it went to Cancun last time it actually put an exception performance in the copper horses rates. Seventy H in fact he. He ran the fastest seven. furlongs ruined Kempton this year which is unusual for a class four handicap winner. And not only is sometimes you can WanNa fast ninth racist actually put up a very good section as well Cohen towards back and raise. It wasn't went to suit. So it's raining opt-outs reforms that was given for your parents ruin the handicap myself probably given fifteen eighteen pence so I think he could have at least an Hans healthy. What is a sixty four? So haven't had a quick race book these any bigger than that. y'All behind that's wonderful. That's exactly what we like. Hopefully he can win. If and all that Jimmy yes. I've got one at New Year's Day again on storm got what else in the one forty-five fake she had some pretty decent pieces of fool Last season relative to this time She was a close second to the now. Now one twenty nine gates And also ran very well behind humble hero. Who's been rated in the one thirties? Storm gutters his racing here over one hundred and eighteen and she hasn't run badly in two. Starts this season. She was well beaten in the Jerry field. Last time behind EPA taunt no less she found that forty or this is much easier contest and off the mark really get chunks. Okay brilliant so although we've got action Cheltenham on New Year's Day plenty of the rates.

"Look at peace and cool and these cars much was he talked up. And how good was he. A second season hurdler deputy soy. Well yeah that well defeat defeat had that this is a very good example. It's not so much that they're not any good is just a second year a very transient. It's like I'm going to get into nothing out here. It's a group with a brilliant first album second second always a big big league issue and it seems that way juvenile hurdle is all the time. So I'm not I'm not mad at Bethel rattles yet. I'm perfectly willing to admit that he's probably been putting up a home on everything he does. There is impressive. A think you're more likely to find juveniles doing anyway. Older horses tend to save a little bit for the race. Of course I think the the youngsters tend to be flashier at home shores And he may he may well be good enough to win this behalf the but what he's done on the risk or so far is not enough to happen mature years and I should say on at least as much just worth bearing the mind with a record. She's had one more opportunity. The find that she was able to to come by for the second season on run in the Jerry field. The new breed that gives her an opportunity of posting. That big performance was futile. Rob Dawson House. You you have to bear that in mind In saying that the horse of the best form in the race with the shadow of a dinosaur Donald Bloom. Yeah there was. There was no fluke about her winning. This is not using using just the opposite because he didn't really wanted to win and she was. She was giving her a chance to win. But it was definitely a surprise to them and I should say Nichols backing was was wrongly commented on it was it was meant to be the champion hurdler heard Ler prepping for for his his third home in a respectable distance in fairness for those who own own of is a by the game she will. He didn't put the brakes on. He didn't try to strangle wrapped last she was given a chance to give her a couple of reminders. After the last hurdle and pick up really well to win probably more than was expected. Because they've always thought Sarah very good turn of foot but that is not quite the case these days where she actually lost picking up really really. Wow Denver wrist. She's not the ideal type for a slog she does once Good Grind. That's the issue with her. She was taken out of the champion hurdle last year because love of deep grinds on the day and she wouldn't really want us log on us last the slight worry about buying your and this risk. But she does the best form of the race and she's not favorite And that's something that is a little bit skew whiff to me okay. So for done a blue. Then what price are you looking for rory. Well first of all don't be there's collectibles market on this anyway three. This is always a possibility. A Louisiana McGrath's is jot up to rider. The decide died soft. Grind is not ideal for a reappearance right again so if she lines up the anything anything bigger than three to one. It's very fair in lineup. Marcus just to Jewish Lizard. Yeah she's currently. I was just wondering does to see. She had a good few runs before she won this race last year. But it worry that you that she hasn't been seen since May a little bit of a worry I don't I don't make awful lot of getting fish. She's not she doesn't have you know she. She always be improved last season but she he does have Winning form after breaks you know. She thinks she won on the attorneys the flats last year for example. She she. She went to half these risks the first attempt after after a long break and she lost a form a little bit in the in the spring of two thousand yet seen but your hormones. After an absence listens doesn't suggest that she really needs a wrong. And I don't think that will be an issue especially coming into agree. You cost you a stuffy. Give us crap on Bowie. I was just GonNa say who. WHO's dog is it? Vanessa's is it now. My Dogs Fast Asleep Terekhov trout very tired. I would say Roy I definitely take a lot on her if she thought she was going to be stuff in just I just had anything to do with it. But overseas lead through the ring at Tattoo sense they will build up selling here at the mass sale and then they who is a little bit of sort of knew they were running through the rain cans. She ends up being by the tables I suppose they. They kept her in training in trading up until she went to tassels goes tonsils. That was at the start of December. So she wouldn't have got back to Nike's he's till six or whatever it wouldn't be and then you look obviously being trained for twenty days to boxing day for this so I got a little bit of a factor with just thanks wearables going. Are you rarely trading it for a grade out the night but then again you know Nikki will new best. What's Michael Tantamount say? I demand she runs and not raise funds such a useful stay flat. There are decent conditions races for on the police that she could needed to get fit. So that's a bad. Bogey bogey heavy disagree very yeah yeah and the fact. Vanessa's even daring to question things. That means that he's defending Roy's on her. Three hundred and seventy thousand pounds for done. A blue cost the sales earlier. This month for Tabor's we'll see how she does it EPA taunt though for Jessen I just of course not in any way bias. And that's the cutoff star. Dr Novices Chase in memory of Nigel Clarke over three miles is a hugely famous novices chase blackout heading for Jonathan Burke and Tom George within then got slate house for the Tizard Denny whizbang master tommytucker Jarvis played and a load of other contenders. Just your thoughts on the Color Star Star. said it's an it's an interesting one for me I am. I lucky enough to go and see go down onto pull nichols and on SAIMA's Tommytucker in the flash and while he is impressive because this is probably the pig associes ever trained nineties huge problems. He's far jar overseas. Outlaw Sierra and hitter really pleasing return where you want it come to install. He's got the phone and the I think it was the second who dot days at a didn't didn't jump. The the last writes able to come away from him. It was pleasing enough off to such a long time off the track. He's he's currently full to one with us the. The market's not quite openly on the exchange and Donny Whizbang also for Pool Nichols was really pleasing winner at a quite funny taught school race at Newbury and is sort of between either those pull nichols horses. But I'm really excited must tommytucker. I think Paul Nicholls can keep keven sound and keep him in in this form. He'll be he'll be really exciting and he's he's the one I'm going to get mustard. Tell me took her as well. I have to say we're ruin agreement on a few things here. Just this could be either grain or extremely dangerous Vanessa your thoughts on the Co Star. Yeah Funny Johnny Great race everyone is. I love Novice Chase at as you can tell by the betting taught full and probably in the talk Ford Mock Doc. Progress knows nate year old but is still work in progress May and now he steps up in trip to three miles if they decide to run him here. He's exciting but I think he's got a couple a couple of questions logs on I'm no. He's disappointed too. I'm excited to see him here. I'm excited city can hold up that chom form and if he can progressive arrested three miles but he's been given a child's three miles before and he hasn't put in his best performance. Says so just sort of watching winning. Trust the black up Mazda Tommy Tucker okay. I think that run last time out. His reappearance was very decent. I mean you can see why the stepping up to three miles he he is GonNa have to settle a better to get the three mile trip opposite. If you watch the last two fences you think he stayed really well. To overturn the second horse offered lost but actually he's. He's pretty keyed in the early stages at the race and he does wear that hood. I know he'd be off the track for a long time so he might have been the touch gase he might lights Better but at the to pull Nichols Paul Nicholls hoses. I think I'd go the way of months. Tommy Tucker's well over Danny Whizbang Bang. I just think that he's kind of the more exciting of the two for me But it's kind of watch with interest rates. I'm afraid for me at this stage not no. It's not this is three of his all going for the same horse. This is good as much as you possibly can on. Also sorry I should also tell you I did text Harry Airman said most Tommy and he said good idea you see just say. It's not exactly an endorsement. That's just what hurry are- does also don't know basically saying tim him over Danny Whizbang right and he was like yeah. Good see see. I don't like to Texter guests and go. Hey Defense your horse for this race. I just not true enough. Get this and I thought you know fuck it. Why Not Jess is constantly messaging Paul Nicholls and Saint Paul Paul? No because she's a professional rory your thoughts on the Color Star trapping. There's a really the really like I really liked black box. I the one thing I've always said about Hayme as despite the fact that he looks like a big boot I think he's got a lot of speed and I think he wants dropping by and not stepping up trip I need a the two miles is how he goes with it. Two and a half is seems as the stage and equally shoot. Stay three three miles. For the way he won unstructured he handled the shop track with well he jumps superbly very happy himself on his son his defeats by countless was it was still a perfectly good reform. A remarkable turn of fish for a horse states and not not racist really. Rhonda Sued Him. Not Black all ONS. I can see why they're stepping because he you know he would've looked a bit shorter finishing pierce last. I I want to see him. Just go a scorching pace at a shorter trip and got other horses and troubled to be. Honest is the Sasha good stride and jumping was so good both Strafford newbury obvious. Here's issue in the past has been as jumping has not been good but it's been very good Asti starts he's been he's been schooled. Hand nights really seems to have done the trick. But this isn't the reaced I would have run them in. I'm not absolutely sure that he's he's quite as happy going right handed either. So I I you know. I'd like to see in a high class strongly ron to quarter on June a half mile race rather than A three mile risks like the Assad puts me off him. I'm also a little bit slurred highest amount of beats on on the the official big. He struggles I saw it. At Huntington assigned mighty ended up winning it well enough in the end but getting nickeled various stages of the didn't look entirely happy and again he's not an was the best partly Muslim last odd odd essentially as class games before in the end and he has a entirely convinced me that he did not seem either and my worry with the two nickels horses. Is You know they are very raw this kind of test you know. The both clearly had had issues of sores awards donning westbound was straight into a agreed on his debut. Really bad reason you by the way a very good risk for a house being historically But the favourite for that run no race needed look happy at twelve reserve tank so the dunning was buying as being is potentially Ashley misleading. But then again it was agreed to win on debuted. Very few horses. Do that I'm I'm struggling. I suppose if you force me selection given this field and we'll be master. Tommy Tucker luring lethal. That'll do because this is if I if I was him I wouldn't be I be looking rhys. I wouldn't be mixed bonds for two years down the line. I'd be trying to win these risks he's clearly well-suited by a right handed track. He's short he can do it at Kempton. He will improve for the setup trick. Assuming E. B. "Of winners of combined with Vance his only defeat since Kim in the Jerry field. Let's Newbury Brasilia well-contested event in the Iranians were chomping Norse enough. I'm deadly belatedly, stacked won't be on onto miles tater. Last time is albeit in a in a race that he was able to largely dominated on each one ninety a see some taken this form of another nausea in doing. So this will be a stiffer test of dominant again slightly longer trip. A racist. Gonna be Roland some more on us pace as well, which will suit him. And I think he'd improve even on the few times on some given high. He's been going to buy things. I think I think Mark one four seven is is certainly not beyond him on just just one thing. I sorry going kick on ROY torture finish their there. And one thing I quickly say just in terms of trying to decipher if those days are gone will run and the entries for this would have closed on Monday. And interestingly, there's a two and a half mile of fifty grand handicap at novel on Saturday, which you'd think would suit and quiet weather. They get into office Mark and the entries for that close on Tuesday. And he Charles didn't put him in. So you'd say if there is any doubt in his mind, he would have put him in the fact that he hasn't injured. Heider suggests that something happened to choose between between twelve o'clock on Monday and twelve o'clock on Tuesday means Jeff won't be running anywhere. Or is just made up his mind. Having seen the entries at Ascott arrive. We're going to ask. So I could read a one of two ways I take it as a positive more negative. So would you consider his Cheltenham target to be the Martin Pipe and eater are like the the rating you need to get into those races pretty much very similar these as so he'd have the choice of either. But you eat imagine he's trying to creep up with more account, and he need eight pounds on top of what he has. Now, he won ten I'd say just to give yourself a bit of breathing room. But I'm yet imagine what Charles Charles, you can only much it'd be it'd be thinking that way actually owns this fellow himself. Yes, he doing burns burns burns bloodstock that that's Charles himself, which I thought was interesting. Yeah. He he's he's owned a few yet. He had a good line there. What they might might. Remember it exactly. But someone asked him about it there. But he won a few bumpers these colors last year. He was asked about it. And he said, yeah, they're all for say. That says if you see the wife, and those colors she's for sale. Yes. Oh, all in good fun. I there are a lot of bookmakers who listen to the final Furlan podcast. I do know with interest as I scroll through the list of prices trying to be cheeky and get a bit on this horse for the Martin Pipe that he's not quoted. However, there is a very famous final furlong podcast horse that is quoted by dead by. No, no, no, no. No. No. No, no. I'm sure there are ones that that. Because seriously bookmakers sort of three reputable to reputable book MC. Have have a certain podcast favors priced up. Kevin Blake who is it for American pipe. Yup. Yep. No idea go Rory the dog. Holy no, no way. Danny kirwin longtime plan lots longtime plan fourteenth one we are going to make money off that horse. Right. So those days are gone and not going to be going to make money. You're looking at the the market for the Martin Pipe station. Hey, listen this. You could be could be worthwhile. Looking at those races right now because as was pointed out to on Twitter yesterday if we can do what Kevin Blake loves a Lookie sixty-nine for Cheltenham and get click. We're all going to do by all overlook..

"Friday afternoon. It's Gary Coleman for my grad here on the fan. And we have the pleasure of being joined by gentlemen, who hosts the show on the station wants to week you guys don't from his time with the new York Daily News. He's been covering the NFL forever. It's one of my other partners. Couple of this guy. Mr. Gary Mayes, hi dairy. How are you? I'm doing great. And it's a pleasure to be sitting here with my fellow Syracuse university, which is disturbing for the rest of the listening audience if they hate Syracuse right now. Syracuse. But yes, we have three along. I guess you could say talking some NFL football. And the reason we have Gary in he has a new book out about one of the more poor izing teams, you'll find in the sport the title of the book, how about them Cowboys inside the huddle with the stores in the legends of America's team, so dairy you weren't a couple of days you've been right for a long time. What prompted the Cowboys idea JJ. I mean, my original premise was how can a team that hasn't won a Super Bowl in twenty three years. Now be worth five billion dollars by far the most valuable team in a league and the world rather? And how can they be the most popular team in the world by far? Why doesn't winning or losing? What does not translate into how much team is worth? Because clearly a team that has won over two decades to be worth by doing it. It just doesn't seem to pieces seem to fit. So that was my initial premise going into it. But when I got five hours over three interview with three interviews with Jerry Jones, I shifted somewhat because he was so forthcoming about so many different topics that nobody's really written about before. And I was able to really dive into him with him that I'd say about seventy percent of the book takes the reader behind the scenes of how this cowboy team operates. Thirty percent is from the time that I spent there during the Landry, and I kind of wrap up what happened there, and then even though is back in New York by time. I about four months where Jimmy Jerry, but I get into how really fell apart would Jimmy, and Jerry, and then some great stuff behind the scenes again when Bill Parcells was there for four years. He had to feel very comfortable with you. Because you previous time there. I mean, you knew him he knew very well. And so then had to open things up an awful lot. When he got started. Yeah. I mean, any relationships are everything in this business. And it's not like I I took it easy on him over the years. I wrote many calms he's a hard guy. No. And I wrote many columns over the years that how can it be such a great businessman? It'd be so dumb about football not have general manager. I mean, right. I mean, that's his major family is not having a football guy in there. Because otherwise, I mean, he spends money to win. He's just been spending it on the wrong player. But like I said I was there for his first four months. I was there for that initial press conference when he now's the firing of Landry. I got to know him during that period of time that we overlapped state and really close contact with them over the years because the Cowboys regardless of their record, they're just so relevant. I mean, they always have the maximum number national TV appearances, regardless of whether they're good or bad. So I really lied on my relationship with him. And then I spend time with each with three kids who have very prominent roles, and you're gonna nation, and I think it's kind of a fun read is very anecdotal with lots of fun stuff in there. Garin very curious in your time with Jerry Jones, obviously, they had it home in in the nineties which aunts in. Would Aikman with Smith and with their event. How regretful was Jerry when you talk to him about how it went down at the end which Johnson because I don't Troy Aikman said. Even though they won that third Super Bowl with Barry Switzer was never the same. That was never that. Same feel when you spoke to Jerry, did you feel the remorse without question? And that's a really good question. Because at the time he paid him two million dollars to leave. The couldn't stand the sight of each other anymore. Then it will winning no less still try to wing Jerry had an interesting comment that he said that he's always been someone who's been able to handle failure better than success. So when they are one in fifteen the first year, and they're traded Herschel Walker and everybody thought they were Bunge eighty hits. And they were saying Jimmy was a college coach. And what does Jerry know about wearing football team is bonded them together. Because then against everybody else when they started winning and people are saying, well, you know, it was Jimmy who made that Herschel Walker. A trade. It was Jimmy who did this and Jimmy who traded up for Emmett Smith Gerry goes. Well, what about me an old Jerry was doing was taking a team knows losing a million dollars a month when he bought it and turning it into this financial empire. But nobody was saying, hey, let's give Jerry credit for making money. Nobody wants to talk about that. They were just talking about the football side and Jimmy would not let Jerry play with his toy. That's basically came down to and Jerry just wanted a little bit of credit and Jimmy just didn't want to give it to them. And maybe the most compelling quote in the entire book was about five years ago. Troy Aikman and Jimmy were having a beer together. And Troy was very resentful of Jimmy fa- leaving and felt they could have won a bunch more in a row, and and Jimmy has no regrets because he just wasn't happy and Troy said to Jimmy we could have been Brady and Belle check. And he's hundred percent, right. Because you look at it. They want tuna row. Jimmy, they got to the fourth quarter of the NFC championship game against San Francisco and nearly won. That game was Switzer the Knicks. They would've won that game with Jimmy beat the Steelers the following year. The only caveat to that though, Gary. Yeah. With the salary cap coming into play in the NFL how much of that would have impacted that Dallas team in the way Bella check has been able to master the salary cap. And he continues to find guys I'm curious. Do you think that the Cowboys would have continued to find guys without question because his great coaches Jimmy was with the Cowboys not so much with the with the dolphins. He was even better as a personnel guy. And he was a master at going up and down in the draft. And what he did with all those draft picks that he got from the Vikings was was built a powerhouse. He built a dynasty. So then free agency hit ninety three ninety four and the Cowboys started getting picked apart because they had the most talent in the league. But Jimmy would have almost. Embraced that opportunity to say, you know, what takes take my players. We'll keep the best guys Aikman Smith nervoun and Darren Woodson and guys like that. But we'll get a fill in the rest of the roster because I know what I'm doing in the draft go grad overpayment Alvin Harper. And and Tony Tolbert whoever I'm going to go find guys who were better and cheaper than that. And he would have revelled in the opportunity a building that seeing a team a second time. But having the foundation of the superstars I have a question about question you asked Roger Goodell. Go back over this. This is interesting. This is the Zeke Elliott. Yeah. Drama that was going on. But you you asked Roger Goodell whether whether he told Jerry that he would not suspend as Elliot, right? This is this is great because all during the process before the NFL announced that they were going to suspend Elliott four games. Six games rather? Jerry was insistent that he wasn't being suspended, and I've been talking to people. I know I've been short would never say who it was. Now, we all Sumed it was Roger or somebody very close to Roger. And then it gets to go ahead and get suspended six games. So the league meetings this past March. So what does that eight months ago nine months ago? Whatever I have my final interview with Jerry for the book was sitting in a conference room with the league meetings in a hotel in Orlando. And I said, Jerry, I need you to go on the record right now who told you Elliott was not being suspended. I said I need to put that in the book. I just can't say you were told he goes, it was Roger didn't you think it was Roger I said, well, I assumed it was Roger but without hearing it out of your mouth, I can't presume anything ten minutes later. I go to Goodell's press conference in which he's wrapping up the league meetings. So I wait from outside the room, and I've had a good relationship with Roger back from the days that he was an intern. And a PR department the NFL in the early eighties, and I just said to him. Listen, I need on the record response to this. Jerry, ten minutes ago told me that you were short him that zealot was not going to be suspended is that true. And you know, and period. Oh, period. Is this something about that? He's done understand. Do you want me to write that down for you in your notebook? I said, hey, man, don't tell the messenger here. I'm just telling you, Jerry just said ten minutes ago. He goes absolutely not true. So obviously and people can make their own judgments, depending I guess which side of the fence on somebody's lying somebody's lying to me. Because Jerry insisted that Dell told them and Goodell insisted that he didn't Gary I'm gonna ask you right now. What do you think it was lying? You know, I knew you say that and my answer to that. Because I have thought about this. I didn't express my opinion. And the book is the you know, it's not like a column os writing. I do think at some point that Roger gave Jerry an indication that he was not going to be suspended. I because Jerry, I mean, Jerry was just so adamant about it up until the Friday of the whole fame weekend in two thousand seventeen so the day before the induction. He the the hall of fame makes the inductees availa when a press conference, and he said it again, and it was insistent. He goes. I don't want to go too far on the limb here because I don't want to influence them in a negative way. But I know he's not being suspended. So that night. This is actually pretty funny Jerry has his his celebration of himself for the hall of fame party. Yeah. Can have relation for myself. What it cost eight nine hometown discount on Justin Timberlake, who probably would have cost eight million by himself for anybody else. And it was nice enough to invite me to that party, which I wanted to be at because it would provided great caller German my book. So Bon Jovi was there. You didn't sing? But he's he's friendly with Jerry. So at one point Jerry Bon Jovi and add Roger Stanton around having a drink. And so I had that picture in the book, and the caption is as it turns out, Jerry Jones was just living on a prayer. Elliot didn't didn't Jerry field that Roger came because he knew what was coming down the line. And that he he wanted to blunted a little bit coming or showing up to that is no doubt. There's no doubt that that that party that Roger knew he was doing because only five days later that he called Jerry when he's back in training camp in California to break the news to him. He didn't want to ruin Jerry's weekend. But he did want to ruin Jerry season. And so he he's they're having drinks on. On on Jerry knowing that five days later, he's going to suspend his best player in basically ruined the season. Now, Gary, I find the poor cells Jerry Jones partnership kind of fast because I spent the more, you know, with Bill and what he was able to do with the giants. And what he was able to do with the jets. I think a lot of people thought Bill Parcells was going to go down there and turn the Cowboys in Super Bowl champion. Now. It's not that. He didn't have success wanted applause for Quincy Carter found Tony Romo out of nowhere. We know how could a career Tony Romo ended up having great for other coaches, whether it was Wade Phillips, whether it was chasing carry, you know, the names, but the poor cells Jerry Jones partnership what you make of it. "Eight worn a tie between nine to one hundred fourteen spare interesting race. This plenty short have other targets later on in the season. Franco, did you come down on all you hundred degree Paul here? I think German Masters probably the most interesting conditions are ideal for him. Even if you go back to John Reid when he went to a main hurler chip. So he beat Rocco twenty-seven. Thanks, and that Rocco was purged last weekend the behind rock point. So it wasn't like that rock isn't a bad horse. And he's off to hammer them then the key to Mr. groans. He wants it bass he won a handicap hurdle a wing off one hundred twenty four very easily and like you kind of forgive him going to pony. Stone and getting beaten, and the fact he could run such asylum race on kgo grown to Carlisle. The last day in the race has been frightened. I think it's jesse's on a very fair. Mark of one hundred thirty six the stabler small be quite funny. One win rose twenty four hundred dollars a couple of weeks. I think he's the most interesting one in now you have a few quid each ran him. Okay. Is it going to be three votes for musters DJ? Yes. I realized today's. Yeah. I was I was thinking Gemma masters by fire Dubose interested like, I know around hunter Chason who's with Ted wass put his relatively likely raised. Let's play the point is on Gavin. I think one by a ridiculous marriage thirty or forty lengths or something that day, and the key is degrade. If the grade was anyways decent. I it's like Paul is read my notes, if grand is anyways decent nineteen gold present will be really interesting and would be very hard to be. And there's million to two out there that will be a big price. He's second one after wind up, which is a big thing. And I taught you around the halibut rates against out because he can jump pattern that he thought he could in tied to a couple and hates a few gonna you did well to stick out us, and that's. A really good piece of form. So if the grand if it takes a little bit, which is not going to old prize. It would obviously be the one to be bullshit. I think John masters degraded as I could see him going off COPA chartered. And he is now Kentucky talking of hitting a few. I was just watching chip in the second laser ask it today. Just now on daily my aunt really jumped into my mouth because we went straight to the first French and never picked up a leg and it stood up in front of the Myron. Thanks not. Who? Oh, yeah. Anyway, back to what we supposed to be talking about Kayla. Thirty five and ask a bit fakes change trophy grade. Three Jolie's crack tip the logical places start up nine pounds from his return win six pounds. I went dead heating in this three years ago. He's an interesting nor skills, but it's a big ask, isn't it? Three years ago is next run in it following you. And he was told off his next when it one last time out he's now up to how I smoke is. He's ever been on. I mean. Yeah, you can win. But you don't you'd like to think it'd be something better handicap than a non, you know, he he's good. A lot anyways decent offer you'd like to tell me by handicapped are like two in a race. I just really like Jerry field and former newbie, obviously winning global citizen. They're going to be taking them down. I don't think anything will be global citizen. None of them there. And and you know, the the three-month have enlist third the second just just just good up a month that was ever while. It was coming back, and they both kind from way off the pace. I think he's I think he's a massive massive plyer undesirable. Why travels really, well, he'll come home for it. I think I think like us go probably trying to set the trainer of spelling king says lifts doesn't. Go left doesn't go ROY handy. He's never see one in Detroit and his life did hang ram on the top end of Windsor. When he was at three road on his third. Stop. I mean, it's it's it's it's scant evidence. Isn't it would be against the field?.

"Taking on the second place titans at eight fifteen eastern on ESPN and on deport this and on the ESPN app. So you can watch from anywhere right now. Here's Chris Berman were they top NFL plays of the week. Good morning. I'm Chris Berman. Let's face it thanksgiving. We're still eating all the food. We still have that Turkey trip to fan one day morning going to work. Going to be tough. But we were working hard the entire holiday long weekend for you, a veritable fish. Top ten plays from the NFL starting at thanksgiving. You going through the brilliance of Philip rivers who've completed his first twenty five passes for the chargers against Arizona. One of them was this to Mike Williams, amazing rivers. Great Williams tiptoe chargers role. Thanksgiving. Can you remember that far back? Drew brees. Throwing a guys you never heard of four different of guys that you've never heard of. They're all good threes makes some more great drew scrape and the saints in another role job this time over at Lanta Dak Prescott. He's certainly went a long way for this touchdown against the Redskins. And you gotta think on a holiday. He makes nice donation of himself. The Cowboys beat the Redskins. Dolphins took the coal to the buzzer. Ryan tannehill. Liane kuru. How do you go over to shear the streetcar named Qasir? Touchdown dolphins. Look at that. Catch. But they launch kind of Jerry field goal at the end. We Adams never done that as he grown headed touchdown week one that would be summer. Now, you're Sean week twelve that would be great fall Brady to grop. We've said that a million times patriots over the jets. Big bed. Crazy play to lose it at the end zone. Three different story. This time at that end Zony delivered has it. You just Mitch Houston. He could go. Way ninety seven yards. Hit ninety seven hundred last year becoming a habit. Denver never could drag him down. Put the Broncos went on a pick at the end. Chris carson. Look at this sheet hawk. You can hurt your quad that way young man. Put sober greed. Carolina the Seahawks beat the Panthers at the gun because they're willing to pay for Erbil thirty twenty seven they wanted. How about the Brown thing all want to score? Now, David new joke who has the ball in the past from Baker Mayfield. He's not. Look what the Bengals stop us. And we're not done with the proud. So all of a sudden have become a factor. They don't long here for that. As Derrick Carl one last week. They would not win in Baltimore. But not the fault of car in Jared, cook circus catch look Ma one hand the role that touchdown look mar two hands for the Cleveland Browns, the rookie Nick job. Grabs it how about Dan dolls go in the dog pound two hands and a helmet and the Browns role that cross state rival the Bengals thirty five to twenty. Let's give it up for the Cleveland Browns. You know what they're now. Four six and won the Browns fans. We know they haven't had a lot that you're about lately, but they're becoming a four like we said and the way I would look at if I'm a Browns fan four six in one. That's about five hundred more to come for the Browns steamrolling toward week thirteen. Brumer? Thank you as we continue yet Tom Brady and the patriots got a win yesterday. But he's all well right now for TB twelve we'll give you some reason to wonder if perhaps the answer is.

But I am so disappointed, but I'm not surprised here reacted like this. So I'm going to reiterate to everyone wants more. I know Jerry very well. You could say all too well, I spent literally hundreds of hours interviewing him for three books that I wrote on the Dallas Cowboys one on the Tom Landry Cowboys. One on the Jerry, Jimmy Cowboys. One on the Jerry Switzer Cowboys that somehow in spite of itself won the Super Bowl. I don't often agree with Jerry's politics or his stances on lots of things, or he's worldview or sort of his perceptions. But I do respect one thing about Jerry, Jerry is who Jerry and he will let you know between your is exactly what he thinks and he doesn't care what you think. On my line, it's my, it's called Jerry world. This guy nickname, but with toes on the outta balanced line along their sideline, your toes, you're going to be up on the line.
