"Are they went on the next day to threaten to kill or threaten violence against Nancy Pelosi and against Jerry Davis the chair of the judiciary committee and Chuck Schumer They took pictures of the staff the democratic staff of the judiciary committee We'd like to know more about these people And I think it would really be very helpful We reemphasized today if mister louder milk would come in and talk to us about that I can't understand why you wouldn't do that I can think of some reasons why you might not want to come in and talk about it Dana how about your day is raising your hand I have a question I have an answer in the front maybe because he's lying his butt up Yeah Yeah I mean 100% now one more from zoloft and talking about that stairwell picture This is a picture of a that's a stairwell that goes up to the ways and means committee room which is where evacuated members of Congress were held in a secure location the next day Taking pictures of a stairwell is not usually what a tourist do So we'd like to know more about this I mean these were executive office buildings that the halls of Congress were like you see history It's not statuary hall Right These were just you could walk into any office building in America and probably see pretty much the same stuff they saw there with the exception of security checkpoints and where members of Congress were evacuated to and held in the secure locations I mean this is it lines up directly There's no coincidence here And of course when the investigators and I don't remember exactly it was but whoever reviews that footage and they're like well we didn't see anything suspicious They also didn't know that there was going to be a right on the capitol the next day So it would be helpful if they went back and viewed that evidence in light of what happened because it's not hard to put the dots together It's a big black spot I mean it's very easy connected It's very easily connected And I mentioned earlier Michael fanone officer Michael fanone who was with the capital police moved over to the metro He was on CNN last night saying that's not for the capitol police to look at and evaluate That is something that the FBI would do And Andy mccabe was on CNN this morning talking about that very subject saying that this is not this is anyone looking at this with a critical eye is going to see it for what it was Helen Keller could see this for what it was What are you talking about A critical She was perceptive about things And also I think was interesting yesterday there was an article out on Twitter actually I'm not sure if I'm saying that name right Deputy chief of staff for a representative Don buyer from Virginia He was talking about what we saw in that footage and how it bothered him He said I'm indeed immediately convinced that this is reconnaissance He's taking pictures of entry points around security checkpoints to the canon title which connects the house capitol building He also said the two are route sticks out to me I've given many tours and I don't understand why he showed them both the rayburn and canon tunnels Separate routes from different places into the capitol which is where your group tour always wants to get to So you would never go to both tunnels to look at where you can go You can go to the tunnel If he's based in the rayburn building they take him through the rayburn building which is based on the canon building you take them through the cannon building There's no reason why you should take them to both He said why did he literally that is what he said Why did loudermilk take them to both Right You know he went on to say considering what Republicans said in February 21 there were no tours no large groups no one in maga hats then there was a tour and it was bigger than the pre-pandemic tour tour size limit So to him it's definitely fishy I think that's what we need to focus on These questions of why would he do this Why would he do that We need to focus on the fact that he said he didn't do in the first place I mean that was what needs to become because everything after that is a lie Yeah Everything after that's a lie He said he didn't give the tour So unless he says I gave the tour to do reconnaissance so that they knew exactly how to get into the capitol to go to Nancy Pelosi's office Everything that comes out of his mouth is a lie at this point Yeah no I Would think at one point he is going to have to come forward And testify about this and if it's not to the if it's not to the January 6th committee DoJ might have ways of compelling I'm correct A 100% 100% I mean the other thing is we have to remember this guy that he gave the tour too He is an absolute moron who Facebook Live his approach to the capital So it's very clear like I gave this guy a tour He was taking pictures of all of these stairwells Then this guy does a Facebook Live talking about how he's going to find Nancy Pelosi Chuck Schumer and AOC and pull her out by her hairs which I don't know when actually says that But it's just one of those things that this isn't like oh maybe this is what happened This is clearly what happened And they need to stay focused on that They need to stop asking yes or no questions And basically how much did you know about the tour that you gave Did you give it to her We know you gave it to her So I feel like they just need to be better questioning the witness if they will Get a chance to question the witness Absolutely Things they did with Marjorie Taylor Greene when they were like do you remember blah blah blah and she was like no Instead of tell me how much you remember because we know you remember because you said it There's a way to question a witness.

"The game and he would be suspended. Inspecting bill negro saying the loading up the baseball or something but it was about the time that umpires stop being as consistent in preparing the surface of new baseball's that you began to hear about pitchers dabbing a little bit of pine tar so they could get that tacky feel on their fingertips and control the baseball little better. So the solution. That major league baseball is arriving at right now. Buster in terms of what to do about this procedurally. How is that ultimately decided. What meetings kind of took place there. Yeah and it's very interesting because for a lot of years. They essentially look the other way. The whole sport did because they had this gentleman's agreement that was understood between managers and only very casually. Would someone step outside the bounds of that. There was famously a game about seven years ago. Between the yankees and the red sox. It was a cold. Night at fenway park. I was there michael. Pineda was on the mound for the yankees. He came back in after the first half inning complained to teammates that he couldn't really feel ball well and one of his teammates. Put a gaba pine tar on his neck with mound in our aaron boone. Recognize it from the broadcast booth. Toler producers are cameras focused on it and john farrell. The red sox manager came out asked the umpires to check him john. Farrell going to come out and talk with. Jerry davis now fellas right here. He's gonna go check. You've got to be smarter than that. He was suspended the next day and talk to john farrell. He was like. I didn't wanna do that but it was so frigging obvious. What else was i going to do. And that was the perspective of the sport but now i think because of the decline in offenses and because of the loud angry voices. they're hearing from position players. Baseball's acting they had a conference call last friday with Met officials from the players association from the empire association for major league baseball sometime later this week. They're expected to finalize. Some of what's going to happen said a memo at two teams and then as soon as june fourteenth. I was told when. I reported this the other day. The directed might come down to empires. Look you're going to enforce the foreign substance rule which has been on the books. So i understand now that like the pine tar hickey. Buster of michael pineda. It's not gonna be as obvious as that in the modern era. What are empires going to be doing. How are they going to be checking. What's their approach to how to curb a problem that clearly is pervasive so think about a dui checkpoint. That's a little bit what we're going to see here. I think With empires and with pictures. I was told that we can expect something. The range of eight to ten random checks per game each starting pitcher during the coarser outing maybe getting a check to couple of times. Relief pitchers being checked position players being checked and because they're concerned about this impacting pace of play. What they're gonna do in a lot of cases actually check the pitchers as they come off the mound at the end of a half inning or at the end of an outing and something to keep in mind. Major league baseball in the last couple of months has essentially been building scouting reports on suspected cheaters. So as the check's begin for umpires the umpires are going to be provided information on specific pitchers through the use of videos. Were they can say. Hey pitcher x has potentially pine tar on that long string hanging from his glove or maybe he likes to put it on his belt on his left hip. Or maybe it's between the third and fourth fingers of his glove. The empires are actually going to be given this information and you know with all the cameras that are in stadiums right now. Not a place is not a lot of places for pitchers to hide. And what are the punishment is going to be like. Buster if a pitcher fails a sticky stuff sobriety test now historically A pitcher who got caught using foreign substances would get a ten game suspension. What major league baseball has been talking about. And this was not finalized when again this oh report the other day. Ten games without pay which would be a big deal last week in the owners meetings. We're actually some of the owners. Were presented evidence of the foreign substances. Baseball's hats gloves items found with a foreign substances on them. One conversation was you know what if we suspend them without pay. There might be grievances and an owner. Who's in the room. Said whatever you know. Let them grieve. We need to start changing. The culture of what's going on with foreign substances and that culture by all accounts seems pretty long standing garrett cole in that same infamous press conference. He kind of fessed up to the technique of applying sticky stuff being an heirloom that passed down from generation to generation and major league baseball. There are customs and practices that have been passed down from older players. Do not your players from the last generation of players to this generation of players while also presenting a willingness. It seems to get behind. Whatever solution rob manfred ultimately arrives at. This is important to a lot of people that are cleveland players in this room including fans including teams in. So if he wants to legislate some more stuff Conversation we can have because ultimately restoring pulling in the same direction. But maybe the biggest name in this whole conversation is trevor bauer buster. Who pointed out back in two thousand eighteen that there was a problem that baseball had on. Its hands quite literally. It's funny because he was the person who was ringing the alarm bell ladder than anybody about the potential advantages competitive advantages through foreign substances. Back in two thousand seventeen two thousand eighteen. He was talking about how they could be used to increase spin rate. There's a problem in baseball right now. The has to do a sticky substances spinner. We might not have had technology before to measure. How did he stuff affects the mall. Husbands out moves but all research is clear. Now we don't spend. We know husbandry defects and hitches is movements a big difference in the game a season and each individual players career and life in the same argument those stereotypes out of the game. If you just look the other way and you let some people do it. The people who choose not to do a competitive disadvantage and i don't know exactly what trevor dan. If i had to gas during the two thousand twenty season it was basically. Well you know what. You're listening. So if i can't beat him i'm going to join him last year. He spent rates jumped and what happened in the off season. He got a huge contract. A record setting deal with the dodgers three years one hundred and five million dollars and last sunday when he started against the atlanta braves. After all the talk about what's come on foreign substances. Trevor spin rate was down. Trevor was asked about his own spin rate the other day any essentially and rightly said. I've been talking about this for years. I want to be honest. I think everyone wants very playing field. So if they're serious about actually doing something about the rule. That's on the books. And that's all i wanted to for years. You know. it's nice to see them. Finally catching up something that i've been at least talking about for four years. I think it hard trevor. At this point is fine as.

They dated even lived together for a while. But on August 28th Lang's birthday, he sexually assaulted her. Did you My my head was out of my mind. He says he was high on PCP at the time, and he knows he's violating the law by failing to register as a sex offender, but blames the government for not doing its job. That's the system okay over there. A lot of assisting the crack, you know, making sure that sex offenders register and staying compliance falls on state and local governments when an offender fails to verify their whereabouts in Washington, D C. The agency that registers and tracks them is supposed to report it to the Metropolitan Police Department. That doesn't always happen. NPR found 86 sex offenders in the nation's capital whose addresses haven't been verified in at least a year. It's always a challenge to track anybody down, especially somebody that knows they could be in noncompliance, or they could be wanted or have a worn out for their arrest and They don't want to be captured. That's DC police commander Lesley Parsons. He oversees the criminal Investigations division, which includes the sex offender registry when were notified of a violation. We do everything we can to bring the offender in the compliance, and if they can't come into compliance, then we will seek an arrest warrant for them. We asked how often the department has sought arrest warrants for sex offenders over the last five years. They wouldn't tell us The nation's capital isn't the only place where officials have lost track of sex offenders. Texas has 2900 absconders or whereabouts unknown Arizona 542. South Carolina officials have no idea where 489 of their sex offenders are. State officials around the country acknowledge that finding of scandals can be difficult. They don't always place a high priority on going after them. In Illinois, For instance, when authorities find any of the nearly 600 absconders, it's often by accident. That's according to Tracy Newton, who oversees the registry if they are pulled over or Please. Officers respond to an address for domestic call. Or, you know, whatever. Davis is guilty plea led to eight years behind bars and required him to register annually as a sex offender. But over the years, Davis stopped registering, police combed driver's licenses and bank account and other records looking for him for the last two years. It didn't take much digging for NPR to find Davis. We found him months ago, living right in Danville at Honor House, a long term care center on the grounds of a hospital. Davis refuses to talk about the sexual abuse and says he doesn't think about his young victim. No, I forgot about it. I've had a good life transplant authorities issued an arrest warrant for Davis after enquiries from NPR. They located him last month, but have not press charges. "Have talked a lot to understand so about the Major League baseball players. That have decided to opt out of the 2020 season. Buster Posey, most importantly, too many folks around here Who was it from the Astros. Joe Smith just missed Joe Smith. Plain name Plane game. Joe Smith. What about Thie umpires? Cording to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. 11 umpires have decided to opt out. Of this upcoming season. The names of those umpires Are not known. We do know of one umpire that is not taking advantage of taking advantage of the opt outs. And of course it is. Well tempered and heavily Jiao old Joe West. That is not going to be opt out. Even though he's at risk. Pardon me. And he also does not plan On wearing a mask. He reportedly Did not wear a mask Joe West during recent interest squad games, Now, I I have been Tough on Joe West because Joe West is Well tempered. But as far as I'm not wearing a mask Do we really understand his plight? Because somebody with that big his lower his lower face, his lower face is big is huge. Again. Jowly is the word you're saying the mask. I may not be able to contain the chins. Maybe maybe the man is having mask issues We don't know. I mean, okay. Yes. He sets a very dumb things about a global pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands of people in this country and is eyes that yet under control? Yes, Joe West demonstrated that he is in this instance. A boob. But we don't know if this man is having really if you haven't really life mask issues. What if you had to cover up that lower face? What if you had jowls that just wouldn't quit? You will be ashamed. All covered up. I'm saying is that Joe Joe West has a very fat lower face. But he refuses seemingly to cover up even though it would be for the good of Himself in many people. Come on, and many of those guys by the way, Rod who are saying that they're not going to do it there and then I think only one or two names of leaked happened doesn't They wouldn't necessarily mean anything to me necessarily know if I heard any of the I don't know those tendencies of the umps that well, but you got names. You got a couple of names. There were a couple names that were that leaked out earlier this morning. I thought maybe Jerry Davis. I'm not really sure. But I saw Joe West is not go as you said. It's not going to sit it out. But a lot of the the umps. They're saying that they have You know their family that have medical company no complications that they don't want to subject. Of course to that. So it's and it makes sense, right? Because I mean you're talking about you know some some of the, um what would you say the meeting? What do you say the average age of the sword in the ranges like but 40 and 35 toe like 65 someone that I don't know. I know they've gotten younger. I don't know how much younger so I mean, I'll Kind of hedge my bets here and say, mid forties. Which doesn't put you in the danger zone. But no again. This is just something I don't want to trifle around with. But hey, man, if if you want to tap out, understand, whatever the reasons are, if you want to go ahead. Fine. But if you want to go ahead be, you know, be conscious of other people in conscious of how serious of a situation this is be apart of the hopeful Major league baseball restart, but do it. In good faith and do it, you know, thinking about other people put on a damn mask. Put on a mask. I has Angel Hernandez taken advantage of the situation and not umpire. My guess is no. We can only hope you know, I don't know. I don't know might give my guess would be knows. Well, we're not that lucky. Hank, There's some guys, you just look and go. Oh, Hope that guy's out. Hope we can get rid of danger and end as gotta be. At the at the top of the list, like Oh, please up down. Please call the e D makes for good content, So we got to give him there. So maybe we do want Maybe we do want him there just for the content. Alone. I didn't think it was like two or three guys. And and I was thinking of it. Couple of Couple days ago, guys that I would love to see Sit out and Come to cross their names mean CB Buckner is ah, one of them like you, Eunice it out. C B less. Yes, Go ahead. And if you wanna I'm gonna call it a season. We're OK with that. We're definitely okay with it. Sam is a lot of umpires looking all the empires. Look, I don't know. You know, I watch every game. I don't know. I never really noticed that many empire tendencies. I mean, I'll phone in on it over a serious like a playoff. Siri's, but Like that's what I love about Kruger's Kruk will not only will we scout the pitcher that night, home and road are you know the visitor in the home, he'll. He'll also give you some insights into the ump on his own and his experience with it and its evolution. I mean, that's where I think Mike just becomes really, really. As good as there is. Oh, you get a bit more. He'll know about empires. Yeah, seriously, seriously. That's a That's a huge factor. It's funny because I guys who have guys who bet the umpires religiously. Oh, yeah, absolutely total their angle. Yeah, Absolutely. It's not one angle. I mean, if you just use that as an angled, not a great angle, But you know that a certain situation. Forget certain pictures. If a guy's ah guy with a tight zone. And he'll give you maybe a couple inches high, and he had a bunch of high ball hitters on one team. And you get the wind blown out a little bit. Maybe we'll look into something like that. I'm just saying, I've heard I've heard that people not from your experience or anything. No, no people might look into stuff like that. Sure, umpires there. Definitely. Factor when you're when you're betting totals game and in most of them are pretty close. When you look at strike rates and all that kind of stuff, But there, there's enough differential in there. That you could maybe catch somebody that lines up there really good with a picture like the best is if you could get like a really a guy with a big zone and you get two really good pictures. Air Crane back in the day. Yeah, it's going really well, now he had He had the massive monster zone in the Marlins Braves. Yeah, And if you give him two good picture fell I mean, they said the over under, like, 7.5 or two Really good pictures? Yeah, that they they want trouble getting four runs because they're going to be all over the place with a couple guys that are a little wild and gather ties own. Probably expect a few walks in that game so again. This is all for news matter Only. Of course, Of course I am. I just the only one out of the three of us. I am down with a robot umpires..

"Siri's sponsored by Dignity, health The official healthcare provider of the San Francisco Giants. On KNBR, 1045 16. The spores leader Well, the Giants moved to the bottom of the 10th inning here in Detroit in the Giants of three outs away, not only from a win here in Game four, but from a world Siri's victory over the Tigers, it would be a sweep. Is that going to be easy? A cz. The Tigers At the top of the order, The big hitters lined up to face the new pitcher Sergio Romo coming in for the James bullpen. The other change for the Giants Joaquin Arias is into play third base defensively, so the Giants get a little upgrade their on defence to try to protect the forthree lead on Might Sergio Romo, who has emerged this postseason Giants fans certainly know all about. Romo is the success he's had over these last several years. But as he's taken on this Does a role. I think he has blossomed even more so and he's got three outs to get here for a World Series title. You might say that he was bred to do this came up through the Giants modeling system. He was the closer everywhere, and it kind of worked himself up the ladder as it became ah, bullpen by committee. Late in the year. He was the guy that became most consistent, who really thrived in the ninth inning situation? Love the pressure. Now he gets the biggest pressure inning of all winning. That could possibly in the baseball season, and it's not gonna be an easy one. As you pointed out, the top of the Tigers lineup is coming right at us. Jackson Garcia and then, of course, the Triple Crown winner, Cabrera. But if you're asked Bruce Bochy as to how you would describe Sergio Romo I tell you, He's got more guts than stuff and he's got good stuff. Moreau. He's got four looks. He'll give you got the fastball. That'll be right around 90. That's the four seamer no dot slider, which is what his reputation is built around. And against lefties. He's got a good sinking fastball, changeup. Go get him and critical to get this first hitter Austin Jackson, who all year long has been so key for the Tigers offense. Ability to get on base ability to hit with extra based power and then to speed to run the bases once he gets there. Garcia do next. But Don Kelly, a left handed hitter, has come out into the on deck circle for three Giants here in the last of the 10th. Romo ready to go on Romo pitches. Jackson takes a strike. On the outside a first pitch slider is on on perfect location with the slider. Kane seven innings Affeldt and ending in 2/3 Cassia 1/3 of an inning. Oh, and one to Jackson. Now, Romo in at the pitch a slider with huge snap to it. Mrs. Outside one and one that news on Omar Infante, who got hit by that pitch. He knew immediately that it was bad. The word from the Tigers club houses that he suffered a non displaced fracture of the fifth. Metatarsal. In his left hand. The pitch and Jackson hits. One foul now is wanted to The Giants are hopeful that that's not a factor. We'll miss the rest of his Siri's, but that the series will end right now. Giants are three outs away from finishing off the Tiger's Kelly on deck. And then it will be Miguel Cabrera. Sergio Romo in to pitch for the Giants for three here in the tent wanted to to Austin Jackson. Rome already. And his pitch on the way is a slider and he struck you about swinging. So Jackson goes down one away, and Romo gets the Tigers leadoff man that keeps speed off the base pounds on. Of course, he made it. We just slider, slider spotter. Four pitches, all sliders, but the last one, perhaps his best one, his quickest breaking one put in a perfect position that fell out the strike's got Jackson Chase. Now Kelly will hit to get the left handed hitter against the right hero, Mo. In place of Garcia. We have not seen much of Don Kelly has really been a utility man. For the Tigers. For the last few years. We have not seen much of him in this World Series. Faces Rome. Oh, here the first pitch and he swings and misses a sinker from Rome. Oh, Strike one. Kelly likes that first piece. They started that sink. The bottom will drop out of the zone. He went right after it. Giantsfour Tigers three bottom of the 10th in Detroit Game four of the world's Siri's the Giants or two outs away. Here's the old one pitch and it is low. He went back with the sinker and Kelly took it this time ball one. Giants won 2010 with Brian Wilson on the mound for the final outs in Texas. A different beard out there here at America Park. It's Rome, O 11 and Kelly started to swing. Did he hold up? Yes, he did on appeal. That third base umpire the crew chief for this World Series, Jerry Davis ball, too. Kelly's a little ball hitter. Call hitter left handed swing kind of a classic swimming, more comfortable pitches down around the knees and data been up around the built. You have to be careful when you're Tinker down around the knees. 21 pitch, Kelly swings and misses Strike two. He is walk in such a fine line thiss when he elevated just a little bit about the legs. And then the sink looked almost like a left handed slider. Bigtime movement from Rome on that sinker. I think one added weapon for Rome odious this year that the sink on the sinker has gotten better got more effective made him a better picture. Kelly with count two and two waiting, Momo. Witches and Kelly goes down swinging..

"Are going to be able to go in the field The other quarterback before we get the other pithier year Justin Herbert. I shouldn't say we're GONNA talk about Joe Burrowed Toward the end of the show but We know borough is going to Cincinnati for quite a while now but The other quarterback up in the air coming into tonight. Those Justin Herbert goes to the chargers. And I mean look I still think they have signed Cam Newton. I think it makes even more sense now. They have just in. Herbert who stylistically has enough similarities to Cam. Newton that You could basically build a system with both of them in mind but Herbert to the chargers we'll see we'll see what he is. He's probably going to be a you know he was A. He wasn't a quick strike guide. Oregon. I think. Downfield is where his strength is. And we'll see what the chargers are going to run out there this year because they signed a bunch of thirty something free agents and it seems like they are ready to win now. Yeah that's interesting. Isn't it that they signed those ready to win now free agents than they draft a quarterback? So we'll see who they put out there like you just said now. They do have the kind of players that you can get downfield with. I think Hunter Henry obviously he's not a burner but he gives you the seem element at the tight. And that's an important part of stretching the field not because he gets over the top. But because you want to influence the middle field defenders so you're outside receivers can be the ones at threaten over the top and Keenan Allen and Mike Williams didn't either guys very fast not slow there. But they're not they're certainly not fast. But there's a vertical nature to the way they played. They play jump ball. Football's above their head. They win one on one fifty fifty balls so I think the kind of offense you need to run with Herbert which is similar as you said to. What you'd Rome a Cam Newton or Josh Allen. It's got to have a sound running game. And they need some work on that and they need to add back and they need to probably add a lineman or to at least for depth. If nothing else but you need a sound running game and you need a play. Action Game. Built off of that and let's play action. Games are going to be fifteen to twenty five yard type a throats and that's what Herbert's GonNa have to do in the NFL. The chargers as long as we're talking about them they also jumped back up into the first round at got the Patriots Pick. They end up. Taking Kenneth Murray the Oklahoma linebacker and this didn't hit me until after we had done our mock draft series and part three. I think Kenneth Murray was in and it hit me afterwards but Kenneth Murray is Jared Davis the the Lions Guy. He's one of those guys where you look at him and you say well you know. He's an athlete. He has all the physical traits to be a quality cover linebacker but I just don't know if he ever will I? I think he's just going to be guy who on passing. Downs is always going to be a blitzer is always going to be a pass. Rusher on it's interesting. That's how you put it. Because Jerry Davis this year became a blitzer and a pass rusher in that scheme for Detroit and I thought he looked great doing naff. So that's it might be a nice comp there I know Greg Cosell who both respect very well he saw Kenneth Murray kind of as a rashawn Evans type. And we're Sean Evans. Coming out of Alabama. And then what he's been with. The titans has been almost a pass rushing linebacker. And 'cause anymore you look at these guys. I with the sub package in mind. What are they be? What can they be on on? Nickel and dime situations. Evans is a pass rusher in Tennessee. Scheme he lines up. On the line of scrimmage lava time he blitzes he drops what Murray. That's kind of the COMP with families for Greg Cosell. The chargers don't play that kind of defense. All the chargers are the most straightforward execution based defense in the NFL the lineup and the coverage after playing. Its little disguise. A little because everybody disguises a little. But it's not a lot of disguise and the play zone coverage and they try to get there with their four man rush if that's what they're going to be. That's what Gus Bradley. Their coordinator has pretty much. Always been then you know. Murray's you're you're not getting the most out of his tools theoretically so maybe they'll add some stuff because you have Murray and you have derwin James. Those are two potentially unique attacking pieces. You have there. Yeah when they came up and when they came up of the saints. I figured they were gonNA linebacker but I would've liked Patrick Queen there. I think the Ravens got the perfect guy and Patrick Queen kind of shocked touches. The Ravens always get all the things that they need. We'll see yeah. Queen be interesting. Because by census he might need to develop a little bit more physicality to really fit in with Baltimore and then it raises the question. Can that be instilled in a guy once he gets to the NFL? And I can. I would imagine it could with and certainly there's a cultural element to it as well. I mean you're the Ravens you got a lot of veterans era. Coaching staff. Been in place a while so he has a good chance to develop though any any linebacker that has coverage skills which is queens strength. That's what you would draft first and foremost four or at least what he can contribute in the passing down lose guys have a chance in the NFL. That's what the position is. What's demanded of that position in today's game? All right. Let's let's talk about a couple of the positions that They weren't runs but lots of guys went and lots of interesting guys and lots of consequences to some of these guys going. So let's over the wide receivers. I guy off the boards. A- off the board ends up being the speedster Henry Rugs. The third goes to the Las Vegas Raiders We talked about this a little bit on the mock draft show and we figured the raiders were going to take a receiver You know a lot of a lot of people connected them to CD LAMB Who would seem to be a stylistic fit with Derek Carr Henry Rugs not quite as much stylistic? I it's nice to have the complement to two zero Williams and what they have on the rest of the offense but And look rugs. You can do the manufacturer touch. She can do the you know the get the ball in his hands. Quick and let them create type of stuff but first and foremost he's a he's a downfield threat and I know a lot of people will tweet at me and say Derek Carr has very good numbers when he throws Downfield. He does not throw downfield very frequently. That is the problem. So that's fair down when when they're not doing it there's a reason for it. There's there's A. There's a reason that that you don't see it on the film. We're not saying card can't do it. Certainly he can do it. But it's in his nature. He's not in an aggressive passer. I think Jon Gruden my guest and I do not know this at all and I don't even know I've never met Jon Gruden at least not as a coach. I met him in the Monday night. Before one time I guess neither of US would really remember it but as a coach Jon Gruden. I bet is always writing car about take a chance be aggressive. Fit It in there because car is going to have to be prodded to do that. A little bit now rugs in and of itself. I don't know if he's contested. Catch guy or not but obviously if you're drafting him early on he doesn't have to be a contest to catch guys runs away from people rugs is value is going vertical and going down field. So if you don't have a quarterback that's consistently willing to do that then do you have some questions there and I think one question is do you cater to that. Qb Okay. We have a guy who doesn't throw downfield a whole lot of car through down twenty plus yards downfield about two thirds as much as the average starting. That's that's a big drop off. That's a very little amount. Do we draft guys that? Try to encourage them to do that or do we draft guys that play to how he already is. And that's a hard one to answer because cars kind of right on that line. The our franchise. Qb or not. The raiders seem to be wondering that themselves at times raiders also taking Damon are net the Ohio state cornerback with their second. Pick a guy who I thought he's on the guys who who truly can you play on the boundary and playing in the slot Personnel like Jeff Gladness? Better but Now they like Damon Arnett. They got their guy. They did a lot of people thought game later in the draft and I understand that and I had to do the draft grades so factor that into the grade. Because that's kind of the game. I'm on the philosophy. What the teams that can get a lot out of the picks and trade down is still get their guy and every team's gonNa tell us got their guy but the teams that can really do it. The certainly have an advantage and there's an art in skill to it. I'm still the philosophy. It's hard to criticize a team for having a need. Finding a player that they feel can fill that need and taking the player and whether some people thought why you could you could have gotten them. Fifteen picks later. That stuff doesn't get remembered a whole lot of few years from now. You've nobody remembers that stuff of years from now so if the guy can play it a workout if he can't then then maybe Mike mayock take some heat for it. I'm sure Mike Mayock sleeps. Just find at night. Yeah now it will only remember if like Jeff gladden he becomes the new Dion Sanders or something like that. And then we'll through well who got picked before him even and perhaps a little. Let me ask you this who was to cause grievous. I recall was like the F- mid first round. Pick of the jets. Do you remember that coming out of Pittsburgh? I knew off the top of your head if any who were the corners taken ahead of Durrell rebus. My guess would be nobody but I I say that with only probably forty five percent confidence which I think right in and of itself proves our point right there. If you don't know right away who else was the head of Rivas than approves? I'm looking it up right now case you aren't. We probably have few listeners at knowing think how can these guys not know they have a show? How can you not know? But you know so. Rivas went numbered. He was number fourteen. He was the first corner off the board that year. Nice Job Gary. Oh there you go. Do you remember who the second one was? I only it was at thousand five seven. Oh see I mean I know every pick of the two thousand five draft but now the two thousand seven draft give you a hint on the second and then we'll move on yeah. The second corner has some connections to the same guy who's going to be coaching. Our friend from Ohio state here tonight. Some connection are net. New Bruton The Guy who's going to be more directly coaching our net. Oh connection to gunther yeah. Yeah you're Leon Hall. It's Leon Hall that I would have gotten there eventually eventually. Okay but the point you know you get the point. I don't think people remember this stuff. The way they do now but they they just don't. Yeah Yeah sports and scandals. Wow and I have this amazing picture in my house the three of us. I'm Harpo Joshes Chico. And Tony's Groucho and he's right next to US hanging out. Oh Man Jerry Cools. But that's when I kind of went. This is a weird life. That's magical. Yeah I I have friends who knew me much later. Who Go like his that? Is that you with Groucho. Yeah dressed justice. Harpo Steve Stall your answer. The door I know but I do remember. My Mom told me that was it Erin has white. There wasn't the wife does whatever she whatever she was she was there and not a nice lady. My mom did not like her very much now. Yeah 'cause Steve Still. You told the story that grouches there. He's like about a thousand. Yeah and he's just had another stroke and everyone's panicking Congratu had a stroke and she goes back and that was her reaction. I don't I don't think she. She had a very nice end either. I shot herself. Yeah she lived out on the street and shot her so show runs the gamut and she was staring at her chest and he's really. I might indeed probably yes now. I store quote. I think it was at the Comedy Museum. I saw quote and I'm pretty short. Was David Letterman. WHO said Ernie Colfax? I knew what to do with television before television knew what to do with the shelf. Yeah that's accurate yeah. I think it's actually in the DVD box at that we put out. I'm not positive but yeah I think He was absolutely right. I think Ernie was creating the media the visuals for television before anybody. He knew what was going on. It was usually a radio. Show that you would kind of take from radio and put on television. And you know there's cameras now or it was like a lot of people called it Vaudeville in a box walks. Yeah very much so well. LETTERMAN hired Bill Wendell to be as I announcer and Bill Wendell and had history with Ernie. That's our man going way way. Back history question. Oh Man Yeah Mr Mann and it's funny because movies silent movies already realized. Hey film this magical. You could do things with Ed. TV hadn't realized that no one. I think Ernie's genius if you kind of think about it is just. How did he know that this would work? I mean it it had never been done before. It's a brand new medium. It's really clunky machinery. I mean it's giant cameras. And he was doing man on the street stuff and things in Philadelphia nighttime beginning. Yeah whoa injured. Leading the audience see the crew which hadn't been done. He was satirizing the conventions of television while they were being invented. But yeah I mean there's there's a there's a kinetico footage we have From the show in nineteen fifty one. He's writing the camera Dolly from one set to the next. It didn't matter it was. Is it that that you know he was on TV. And you had to maintain this artifice. We're doing a show you know you're just having a visit with him. He happened to be in a television studio. What was your introduction to this Ben? Then what we know. We know Josh's but how'd you fall little different It was the the Best Ernie Kovacs television. Show that aired on public public television in nineteen seventy seven And those were compilation shows there half hour shows but might folks had been huge fans ends and they knew of my vapid interest in visual humor and weird stuff like that is a huge buster Keaton Fan and they knew I would. I would like this so that that was. That's where right I saw Kovacs and I went bananas. I was like Oh i. I've never seen anything like this but I love it when when I watched when I watch colfax stuff it's like I had a weird connection like when Disney re-release fantasia it was music and weird imagery and and people would get stone and watch it. I could see people on drugs. Getting into Bernie Ernie Kovacs. In fact Kaleidoscope Joe Serena I mean even even just even when he was in Philadelphia doing to our wakeup show they had to put something on the air and he would tape a kaleidoscope to an orange juice candidate that to the front of the Lens and just play records and spin that around and they're stuffed stuffed. There's so much like you're saying that you watch anything. We this was on television. It looks like weird video that you would see in. Soho looks like a nightmare sequence sequence he was he was very dark and a lot of his stuff. Didn't have a punchline. It didn't have even humor sometimes. There's a piece that he does the street scene. Oh yeah that's beautiful and it's amazing but it is not comedy it's seven minutes of people moving and telling a story in sync to the for the opening movement of Bartok's concerto for orchestra and he did an entire sketch underwater and there's one part where puts us a guard who his mouth and blows closeouts smoke right and you go. How the fuck do that? And I heard. He had a mouthful of milk. Put and correct. Yeah tank. He's in a tank. It was it was a it was a commercial for one of his commercials for Dutch masters and And then there's an episode of take a good look. which which is the Bizarro quiz show? We'll talk they. They run that commercial and they come out of any explains how they did it. You know he's down there holding his breath but the mouth full of milk or cream green tea. Yeah but the there was never an idea. Oh you can't do this. You know. Even at the beginning he would find some way with To to to make it look like the camera was pointed upside down so he could appear to be vacuuming the ceiling. Yeah yeah well we know Letterman was a fan and you and I were talking off Mike that there was. You know that somebody and I don't know if this is provable. But that certainly Merrill Marco who was doing a lot of the writing on the early Letterman show was Kovacs Person. Yeah there was an interview her influences. This is clear. Yeah We and she was on a panel that we didn't about two thousand eleven or twelve it The American cinematheque with Bob Odenkirk Jeff Carlin Bunch of people of but she was one that said Yeah. The writers all went to the Museum of Well it's the Paley Center now. Yeah and watched Kovacs and that's where they came up with a lot of. I mean seriously the the pencil at the things the three hundred sixty degree show that they did you remember that on Letterman turns as they revolve the image throughout throughout the hour. Or the Juanita on a plane He did a fourth anniversary. Show in flight. Yeah I think what else would i. It wasn't so much letterman but certainly all the writers would go over and watch the Kovac shows over and over and lift ideas from it and just sh- roussaly. I was watching a documentary and I didn't even think about this fat both Ruin and Martin's laugh Saturday night live both take a lot from Kofi. Ah You're definitely we'll we'll George slaughter who produced a laugh and his wife. Joey andbranch was part of Ernie's ensemble cast from nineteen fifty nine to sixty one so he's certainly hanging hanging around the set and they knew each other. ABC specials the later they're blackouts then. Laughing borrows liberally just faster just just faster and with with a different kind on a foot. They would just say that that that made it there. Yeah right and also monty python we We were just spend some mm time with John.
