"Not buying if the major banks and investment companies have their way. Monday morning money, a movie sports and the forecast all ahead where the day begins. Its first light. So, as I mentioned fighter wants permission to begin using its covid vaccine allowed under emergency use regulations right now in booster shots as correspondent Jerry Bodlander reports they're going to take their case directly to top U. S health officials today. Jerry Michael more than 100 and 84 Million people in the US have received at least one dose of a covid 19 vaccine. And about 159 million have been fully vaccinated. That's about 48% of the country. Whether a booster shot will be necessary will be the focal point of a meeting today between Pfizer and administration officials. Pfizer said last week it believes a booster is needed and plans to ask for regulatory approval, saying data shows the protection The vaccine provides against coronavirus declines over time. The Department of Health and Human Services quickly fired back, saying Americans who have been fully vaccinated quote do not need a booster shot at this time. But appearing on ABC s this week, Dr Anthony Fauci left the door open, even though the CDC and the FDA correctly said right now. We don't feel you need a booster. That doesn't mean that we're not very, very actively following and gathering all of this information to see if and when we might need it. And if and when we do, we'll have everything in place to do it. Fauci said The latest information available doesn't justify another shot. The discussion comes amid rising concern about the highly transmissible Delta variant, which now accounts for more than half the new covid cases in the country. Fauci didn't mince words when describing the strain. This is a nasty very and it has a much greater capability of transmitting from person to person. We know from extensive experience, not only in our own country here in the United States, but in other countries. That the vaccines that we are using work extremely well against the Delta variant, which is why the refusal of some Americans to be vaccinated is frustrating deaf algae and other health officials. The vaccination rate in Arkansas is among the lowest in the country and also appearing on ABC s this week. It's Governor Asa Hutchinson acknowledged that getting vaccinated can be a tough sell. But he stressed, it shouldn't be a partisan issue. Clearly conservative is more hesitant about government authority. That's just the nature of it. And so I think in the southern states and some rural states, you have that more conservative approach. Hutchinson says he has no issue with the administration's ongoing vaccination push. I'm Jerry Bodlander. Michael. Thanks, Jerry. It is 10 minutes past the hour, and this is first light. Now, from a shot in the arm. He was shot into space or at least the edge of space. 71 year old billionaire Richard Branson has flown into space aboard his own winged rocket ship more like a space plane than the traditional capsules. We used to see in more streamlined and cool looking, then those space shuttles. Hansen thus beat his rival Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezoza, who will soon be scratching at the edge of space in his own company's craft. It's not quite a giant leap for mankind. It's part science and part commerce, moving space tourism much closer to reality. Scientifically. It was similar to the first two Mercury capsule launches in 1961 from NASA 15 minute flights past the edge of space, a few minutes of weightlessness and then right back down, although this time gliding onto a new Mexico runway smoothly rather than dropping into the Pacific Ocean. But this and other flights to follow by Bezos's company and Elon Musk SpaceX are showing that it doesn't take a government to venture out beyond Earth. Here are highlights of the Flight three. 21 release release release. Clean release ignition. Good rocket motor burn moments later and 60 seconds And that is a foal. Duration. Burn, folks, we are headed to space. I don't know about you all. But I am still feeling overwhelmed and excited about what we just witnessed. And there's one person in particular who has got to be having all of the fields right now, as you can see him, sending a congratulatory group congratulatory shake to his passenger Colin Bennett there with them. Congratulations to.

"Good Morning, Johnny. Hey, Johnny. Hey, Hey, guys. Good morning, you know, just to pick him back off that last caller, you know, the Ronald Reagan and the George Bush Sr Pops politics for the Republican for the Republican Party does not work any longer. The the Democrats have put the screws to us over the last 30 to 40 years, And right now we're dealing with boys Joining girls sports We're dealing with open borders. We're dealing with defund police that Ronald Reagan Arab politics is out the window. We've got to have it in your face, type Republican. That pushes back like trump and even harder to counter these idiots out there. The problem Johnny with the Republicans, and I put myself in that same category that if Don says he likes a certain candidate, it's going to be easy for me to pick that Canada apart and find things I don't like about them. And in the same in reverse, Republicans collectively think that they're going to be able to find a perfect candidates. They're going to be flawed. Allen West test flaws Don Huffine has flaws. Governor Greg Abbott has flaws as well. They're not perfect people. They're going to make mistakes, and they're not going to be the perfect candidates. We need to be comfortable with that, too. Well, Donald Trump was a perfect example. Not everybody liked him. But we dealt with him and I knew he was the person to create change. And there was many things I didn't like about Donald front. Many things But I knew he was our candidate, and I think we need to get back to that. We better realize that we better get in the fighting mode or these guys are going to run roughshod over us. And we're going to lose this thing completely. Do you think Governor Abbott is that candidate? No, I do not. But I'm okay with him better than anybody I've seen. He's not that candidate. But you're okay with him being governor. Now, think about that he is and we're talking about the governor's race here. You don't think Governor Abbott is the right one, but you will endorse him. Well, let me tell you something. I looked at what happened over the covid over the last year, and I praise the good Lord. Every day. We had Governor Abbott, Okay, because he fought the system. Okay. Of course, there is better than Governor Abbott. But he's the best we got in Texas right now. And And because of that, I'm okay with both the men back in. There you go. Thank you, Johnny. He well, he changed his tune on Governor Abbott in a hard breath, Didn't you? Just just a hard me? Yeah. Just hardly started thinking about it, then suddenly liked him. Still a little dizzy? Yeah, disoriented. I think I think with this Republican strategist and the four or five calls we've taken on this issue when it comes to the Republican primary for Governor Allen West, announcing yesterday, he's going to run, and then he got Don Huffines, who has state Senator experience, and then you have the incumbent, Greg Abbott. I think what we've proven this morning is Republicans don't know what they want in the race to the governor's mansion in that primary, and it may be fractured so much that it may clear the way for a Democrat to win. I, uh Republicans collectively need to get by behind one candidate to solve our issues. If it becomes a fractured issue during the primary, Democrats will have power. Yeah, right. Right. If there's any weakness whatsoever, anywhere they're going to squeeze through. You're right. It's not a good time to to have division for that. I do want to know more about Allen West. I'm intrigued. I think he's at least he comes across his is a bad ass. Beyond that, I can't point to any, you know, accomplishments other than you know the offices that he's held or the positions he's held. But other than that, I don't I don't really have Good feel for what this guy's about. He just portrays a real badass, and that's really worked for him. It is 8. 51 and rescuers continue to deal with the weather there at the Surfside that condo collapsed, They took down the remaining portion of that building that was still standing. Kind of wobbling, and they were afraid that this tropical storm Elsie was going to be a real problem. If it rolled through the building was still up. They took that down over the weekend and actually created some new cavities where they've been able to search for possible all search for you know if there still was still calling this a search and rescue at a courtesy for the family and friends that are still gathering, hoping that somebody could be rescued. Newsman Jerry Bodlander is in Surfside. You got a second here? Let's make the connection with Jerry. "Past the hour and the start of another day because it's first light. Good morning. I'm Michael Toscano. I hope you had a good and safe holiday. Maybe seeing some family or friends you haven't seen for a while. But I also hope you were careful. There are red flags going up around the world and here in the United States over the highly contagious belted variant of the coronavirus. It's rapidly moving through unvaccinated groups of people, and we'll have more information on that ahead. Planned demolition of the rest of that collapsed condo building in Florida has helped speed up the search for victims and we'll be spending time on that, including the challenge of identifying remains and what this means to families. Members of the House and Senate may have scattered during their current vacation, but many are staying in touch as talks continue on both the bipartisan infrastructure package and a much larger Democrat, Only Bill and Democrats are being squeezed from both the left and the right on that we'll get the latest reporting. Watching a new heatwave developing in the West, and a storm named Elsa bearing down on Florida Tuesday morning money, a new movie and sports all in the mix as the day begins with first light. The official death toll, meaning the number of bodies recovered is 28. But with 117 people unaccounted for time is passing. The weather is posing a threat and the work continues in the rubble in Surfside. More now from correspondent Jerry Bodlander, Jerry Michael, officials say Sunday nights controlled demolition of the part of the Champlain Towers south that would still standing has opened up new areas to be searched. This building was unstable. The building was hampering our search efforts. Really. We were stuck that we couldn't get to a certain part of the pile. Miami Dade Mayor Daniella.

"Is to bring closure to the families that are still waiting for the news. The decision to demolish the part of the condo that was still standing was prompted in part by the threat from Tropical Storm Elsa. But Governor De Santis says Surfside will now be spared the worst of the storm. The impacts here should be incredibly incredibly minimal may get some rain. You may get a little bit of wind, but nothing like we were looking at maybe a couple days ago. That means the painstaking effort likely won't be impeded by the weather search will continue for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Until we pull everybody out of that rubble and reunite them with their family. Every stone gets unturned, whether it be by hand or if it's by machinery. It's a heart wrenching effort. That's now almost two weeks old. I'm Jerry Bodlander.
