"And for mayor, as you're humble host onto the OCHO, it is a Wednesday August nineteenth two thousand twenty. Hope all is well wherever you are. We hope you're happy safe healthy and that if you never have you have sweet potato fries because I've seen a lot of those lately and goodness gracious I, got to the sweet potato fries game late and. Let's just say I'm glad to have arrived. It is our episode for Humpty. So happy, Hump Day to you. However, we are dropping this earlier going to drop this about. On, about probably about five o'clock maybe five thirty PM central time on Tuesday afternoon. because. We have some breaking news and. Breaking news certainly not as optimistic as the cowboy signing Everson Griffen however. It is breaking news nonetheless that cowboys on Tuesday afternoon, it was reported. That they have released defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and there's a lot to this store. There's a lot to understand and we're GONNA talk about here in detail. But if you are the type of person that. Likes to read. Dinh's wants to understand, etc. You can head on over to blog on the boys dot com. We've written an article for you and you can kind of check out all the details there for yourselves but. I think to begin we kind of have to start at the beginning and the beginning of this whole process specifically. Obviously, we know the Joe McCoy signed with the cowboys in free agency back in March. He was there first free agent signing he was literally the first free agent signing the Michael McCarthy era. Let's fast forward to Monday to Monday of this week, the cowboys held their first petted practice of the season on Monday the first petted practice in the Mike McCarthy era in before practices over it was reported by Ian Rapoport that Gem McCoy went down with a leg injury. Then there was a report that the cowboys feared that he had torn his ACL finally it was reported and then confirmed that Joe McCoy suffered a ruptured right quad tendon and would, in fact, will miss the two. Thousand Twenty NFL season Tony Casillas, and a fellow Oklahoma sooner defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys and I talked about this on Tuesdays episode of the 750 up. You do want to go back and listen to it. Remember to subscribe to the blog on the boys podcast get episodes every single day it is football season. We have all sorts of things to talk about as evidenced by the current moment but so okay. So Jeremy McCoy, we find out Monday afternoon has ruptured right quad tendon. He's going to miss the season Monday people are so sad understandably. So we talked about that devastating loss big time loss for the cowboys day afternoon via espn's Ed Water Joe. McCoy releases a statement where he talks about how he's going to keep his head up how what he's dealing with is minimal compared to things happening around the country and around the world and he talked about jail McCoy did in his statement that ESPN's Edward are released on Monday Jerrell McCoy talked about how he was planning. On mentor the younger players on the cowboys we've talked so much about how big of an impact that was going to be for this team on Tuesday morning my McCarthy met with the media for the first time since Joe McCoy went down with injury. Obviously, he was asked about this etc and Mike McCarthy corroborated that idea Mike. McCarthy. said that he was hopeful that he had spoken to Joe McCoy about that and that the plan was for Joe McCoy to be around mentoring the younger players this. Is You can imagine if you somehow missed this yourself, this was music to cowboys fans years people were very excited about the idea of Joe McCoy kind of you know Roman the sidelines coach and players up working with guys like Neville Gallimore Tristan Hill players, that Mike McCarthy also spoke about in his Tuesday morning press conference. kind of I know I equated it myself to what we saw from. Travis Frederick two years ago. So. That was where things stood Monday morning a little bit later Monday kind of mid morning ish not even really mid morning Joe McCoy posted a video on instagram of himself. Getting Ready for surgery to take care of this ruptured right quad tendon and individual. He talked about how he was still smiling he. told his family and friends that he loved them that he appreciated their wealth thoughts he told his coaches and his teammates he said, IAGO? To, win. He told the fans stay tuned. It was a very. Very warm video message I very reflective of the personality we have come to know from Joe McCoy if you have followed the NFL since his career began ten years ago in two thousand and ten that was where things stood and I think by lunchtime on Tuesday just about every Dallas cowboys fan had made their peace with the fact that this really sucked. But the future was certainly helpful with regards to Joe McCoy in terms of his involvement with the team, this season and in terms of his presence on the team in the future, all of a sudden on Tuesday afternoon bombshell drops that the Dallas cowboys have released Joe McCoy and that brings us to here. So what happened here? Why did the cowboys release Joe McCoy I don't understand etcetera. The cowboys have released Joe McCoy per a lot of NFL insiders. They've released him via an injury waiver. Now according to ESPN according to NFL network according to the Dallas Morning News. The, Dallas cowboys were aware of this potential medical issue when they signed Gerald. McCoy and as a result, they factored this in his contract, a particular paragraph of his contract. In fact, NFL networks Mike, Fellow a follow twitter at excuse me. That notes the cowboys are off the hook for the two point five million dollars in base salary. Guarantees this season because of this. So. This is really an accounting move for the cowboys if you WANNA look at it. That way if you WANNA put it in terms of numbers. Joe McCoy gets to keep his three million dollars signing bonus for this year. But the cowboys are indeed off the hook for the rest of his money. According to douse covers, dot com eaten in the cowboys maintained an interest in re signing. Joe. McCoy next year in two thousand and twenty one. And so. I. Think you have to think about everything here and I think the first thing is that in this goes without saying the NFL is obviously a business right business first business always usually this was a business move for the Dallas cowboys to save money on their salary cap and you know if you're looking at an vacuum, you can certainly say, well, you know there are already questions about the salary cap, etc. Giving financial comment of our world The Dallas cowboys have every right to conduct their business. In the way they see fit that is certainly one line of thought here the other line of thought or one other line of thought is that. This doesn't look great. That this doesn't look super warm and cuddly. You know you hear all the time when people are arguing about why a player should or shouldn't take this deal he should take a team friendly deal, etc. this sort of serves as proof as to how NFL teams can find a lot of ways to do what they want because they truly hold all.

"Industry. It's a podcast someone you listened to. I simply ask you to spend more time with them. Listening to them learning from them watching them and all of a sudden your words will start to become just like there's and then also lastly number seven is a take time off to work on you. You heard it before you know spend more time working on your business not just in your business. How about taking more time off to work on you right. So what is that. You got to schedule the time so living inspiration living inspired tired. Sometimes you'll say hey todd was ever time when you were not inspired and when i hear that question from you it made me think when it was i not inspired. Let me give you a story of a time. When i was not inspired a time that was somewhat difficult in my life i i had just graduated graduate school and it was about may of one thousand nine hundred ninety nine so i had not yet opened. My business may nine thousand nine step back. I was at san diego state and may may i get my degree and what happens after that. I apply for a position as a full-time strength strength conditioning coach and professor at a community college called the college of the canyons in los angeles california and lo and behold august one thousand nine hundred ninety nine. I offered the position if the first tenure track position in the the state of california. The job was paying about sixty thousand dollars. Now folks that. That's a lot of money now. That was a lot of money then an and whenever i'm making a big decision there's several things i do. I pray about it. I think about it. I trust my gut and i talked the people who i'm closest with and in august nineteen ninety nine i turn that position down. I said had no thank. You and i still remember the other voice on the phone. I said no thank you. I'm not going to accept the job the person on the phone said. Are you sure you wanna turn this position down. This position doesn't come around very often. I said no. I appreciate it. Thank you very much but where i'm at right now at this point in my life i'm going to <hes> stay put in san diego now. You listen to that you probably t._d. What are you thinking and i'm gonna tell you flat lot out that after that and turn it down. I was close to as depressed as i've ever been. I didn't turn that down because i had another job. I didn't have another the job matter of fact. I was free floating between many different positions. I was a trainer. I was a massage therapist. I was an adjunct faculty member at a community college college but i didn't have a quote career yet at that point well. One of the reasons why i turned that position down was because i was dating a girl who i met in college college and i didn't know at that point but that girl was eventually going to become my wife and her name is melanie and sometimes you gotta sacrifice in your life unbelievable opportunities because it doesn't fit with where you wanna go because i remember august august september october november four months being so down about what am i going to do with my life. What am i going to do. And where am i going to go and i wasn't happy with what i was doing. I knew i was worth more than what i was doing. Well that was one point that i wasn't inspired but that was also the impetus to then n. Ultimately really seek out the next phase of what i was going to do in life so my friends living inspired. Sometimes you're going to be inspired art and sometimes you're not when you're not you have to lean on your faith. You've got do the things. I just shared you. Gotta make sure working out and you're eating right. You're listening to podcasts. You're really have after dial in to your best practices so you can get back in spirit. That's live inspired. M is called master your craft. Let's say master your craft right. M ma master your craft malcolm glad we'll talk about the ten thousand an hour rule right. It takes about ten thousand hours or about ten years to become an expert at something. Well being now a coach at a trainer for the last nineteen eighteen years at fitness quest ten. I've had an inside look at some of the world's best athletes my first athlete ladainian tomlinson who was the first overall pick pick for the san diego chargers. I had the opportunity to work with him for nine seasons and getting to see him enshrined at canton in the hall of fame just a couple a couple of years ago was one of the career highlights of my life and for the last seventeen years his training partner <hes> in in working with drew brees the the quarterback for the new orleans saints. I had a chance to see when you talk about master your craft some of the best in the world at what they do the darren sproles the jerrell mccoy's zac urges the chase daniel's the mike chandler's m._m._a. Fighter mike chandler and a slew of my minor league baseball guys who are on the fringe of making it to the major league. It takes work mastering. Your craft takes work lots and lots of work. Wherever ever you are in your career today about mastering your crapping great at what you do. It's not a one or two or three year thing. It takes delayed gratification. It takes the grind in the grit for it to be the best you can possibly be and breezes is a classic example of that right. It's not just what you see on t._v. It's the preparation and i can count on one hand. The number of any scheduled sessions he's had in seventeen years that he's ever missed the preparation too hard work to watching the film that no one sees also the best of the best of the mindset of success the desire to be the best the desire to be the best as an athlete as an entrepreneur as a parent. Whatever it is that you do if you're an uber driver and you listen to us right now. Fantastic be the best uber driver that there is in the world old. If you work at home depot you work at a starbucks and other coffee shop. Be the best server waiter waitress bartender police east officers firemen. Whatever it is that you do be the best that have the desire to be the best. I think about the best in the world i think about leadership again using these athletes as an example drew brings out the best in his team and having seen him play for the san diego geico chargers and now of course the new orleans saints whenever drew brings in his teammates to train at fitness ten he has the uncanny ability to tap happen to these guys and get them to perform at a higher level. If you're a high school athlete today boy or girl. Do you have the ability to get the most host out of your teammates. Do you push them down or do you lift them up. If you're at an organization right now and you work for an organization are you at the water cooler and and your and your squabbling and gossiping about what's not right at the office or you lifting people up in finding what's good at that job and that opportunity unity. That's a mindset that's leadership and what we need. In this world is more strong leaders that bring out the best in their teammates in other people regardless of the title in your position and then using drew as an example here in and <hes> mastering your craft i was on a mastermind call a few two years back and drew driving to training camp and he used an acronym that i still use to this date. I share it with you. On the inaugural ogle episode of the impact podcast as called faith matches faith in god but faith standing for fortitude means strength breath attitude is positive. I stands for integrity. Do what is right when no one else is watching t trust trusting your teammates trust in god trust in your family and most importantly trusting yourself trusting yourself. No one else does and then humility humility now. That's a biblical term but humility is when things are going right and things are going great and your champion that you're humble when you're winning inning and when you're down in the pit and you're in the valleys you're humble knowing that there's always going to be tomorrow and they'll be light that will be shining so faith my friends. We talk about master. Your craft is carol dwell in the book mindset. Are you a person of growth mindset. My plea to you is to make make sure that you prepare like heck that you work your tail off at you have the mindset and desire to be the best that you're a leader in your middle school in your high school your college or university within your organization sation your operation who your sports team and that you always stay hungry and you always stay humble. Let's go to the next letter in the acronym impact. It's p. Play at world class play world class my friend. You've heard me say before and i'll say say to the day i die. Get your mind right now. Say if you're out in the in the neighborhood walking right now. They're gonna think you're crazy can look at you look kuku. That's okay. Just tell me listening to the podcast. Say get your mind right. Get you my right yeah. That's right. Get your mind right but what if you're like hey t._d. My mind's not right right now or you're really scared because you're going through a tough time right now. Maybe you've had healthcare. Maybe you're going through a tough time at work. You know i gotta be honest with you just moments before i turn this microphone on for my first episode of the impact podcast. I had a little bit of jitters. I was a little bit the nervous i that's okay. That's okay matter of fact. That's when you know you're playing in the right stratosphere. I gotta i gotta admit in late nineteen ninety nine when i told you just earlier about being inspired when i wasn't inspired. It's often when you're in your valley's. Your deepest valleys right around the corner is when your greatest opportunities are going to be there because in november one thousand nine hundred ninety nine as i was searching for my location to open up my studio despite having no money no clients and no business plan. I said yes to an opportunity to work at a health healthshare in a place called script ranch san diego now. I had no idea where script ranch san diego was. It was about twenty five minutes north of downtown but i was at a health fair and i was doing massage therapy. I just finished my graduate thesis work which was actually on the physiological and psychological effects of massage therapy on stress stress and anxiety so a company had asked me to come do some seated massage with my massage chair at this this place of work and a gal there says do you know of any yoga studios pilates studios polite studios or training studios in the area. I said i have absolutely no idea where any city is because i don't even know where the heck i am and she laughs and she says you're in script ranch as a matter of fact. If you're in this business you should look at opening a studio around here well well. She didn't need to say that twice. Because that afternoon i went around and drove around that town of script ranch and lo and behold i found.

"I just need the end of this party for Jaylo to not think that I'm a loser as everybody how awesome of a party. I'm throwing right now fifty fifty now again I mean it's not that far away from me. Wednesday night parties with Chris those are the worst and he posted the video at like I think three what do you think he was up editing it until his team was absolutely editing with the coming soon my we have to get those bomber sound but do you want to guess Billy's cutline here so I wanNA guess who was GonNa Saddle Saddle with at our table so so so the audience knows. Ah Guarumos getting married tomorrow and he invited everyone from the show <hes> summer going most are going. I am not a billy was going to invite someone to sit at our table. I'm assuming to annoy US right now. Now that's that's that would have been the end result but that was not the intention of inviting that person. I just knew that it would not be like I wasn't an invite this person as a joke but I knew if I was person with you guys would annoy you not Charlie is Charlie invited yeah yeah all right. Oh money surprise you that Charlie Kravitz who is one of the producers on highly questionable told me that he played tennis with Charlie Ume. WHO'S GONNA run this company one day <hes> <hes> just to give you an example of of WHO Charlie is he? I think in a forty eight hour span one from courtside Golden State N._B._A.. He squeezed that in somewhere yeah somewhere under would surprise you that Charlie Kravitz Played Charlie human tennis at Charlie Kravitz. Charlie Hume is the best tennis player he's ever played again and took it very seriously and multiple rackets. Imagine Wooden racquet was involved at some point definitely goes out there one of those sweaters federal years. I I tell you I invited Charlie out to my house golf one time and I was watching him from a distance on the range. He was killing balls murdering that at I made up excuses to why couldn't play because he was gonna take all my money. "N._F._l.. Roundtable recently we're asked like which young player could be a hall lefavor and he I I picked him and I was like I wonder if anyone else was it was I think almost everyone picked him right and it's not just that he's reap double digit Saxon both seasons already but <hes> you know he gets double teamed a lot and now he gets to play opposite Olivier Vernon and children Richardson is in the mix and Logan joke like it's it's ridiculous. I do have like a couple of questions about the linebacker group right so Jamie Collins has gone thankfully thankfully. I guess it's going to be Shelbert. It doesn't say his name right. Who is I think top three in tackles seasons ago in Christian Kirksey using witnesses and last year the other guy I mean usually you're probably not gonNA see three linebackers on the field very often so that's probably especially in division from what tyrod Taylor but the death is not awesome but I think by enlarge the front I mean the whole defense again is very good on paper and they also drafted a linebacker becky? I didn't know that rocky. Where's he from Stanford Guy Hockey? I hope that you're saying his name right. There's a there's a tacky wait. Oh Commercial Rights Damn. That's why you let me ask you given the amount of hype in the expectations cocky cocky all make sense simone given even like the amount of hype and expectations would missing the playoffs be super disappointing yeah yeah especially. They're supposed to make an a leap yeah from last year and last year we were in the in the hunt graphic ethic. You'll know pretty much towards we didn't get the we didn't get. We didn't get the tie that we needed from Tennessee late in the season but we were in the in the hunt graphic and you can point to several results that could have easily gone the other way if they simply got better play calling that are coaching decisions or made kicks or extra points or ties went the other way so I'm assuming that you I would have liked their chances says to greatly improved just because of the natural progression of players if they essentially brought the same team back and had Freddie as head coach and essentially had the team that we saw that now you've added Odell Beckham you've both of the defensive line to the point that it's arguably the best defensive line in the League a defensive line that I pointed to and said I don't really see the need hear her Jerrell McCoy. It's because I like Ogun Jobe I've seen I don't know if you've seen these workout. Videos dude is he's an absolute freak. Yeah another draft class. You have natural progression Baker Mayfield. I think if you had the exact same team you would have been one of those guy at one of those teams. That would have been looked at it as okay. This is a potential playoff team and it'd be really disappointing season for them if they didn't make it now they got Odell Beckham from junior and Super Bowl Talk. Well reasonable enough for me. Lay Offs isn't there's Yes right now from you there also in the A._F._C. which I think is a lot worse in the N._F._C.. I've been I I mean. It's very good teams there well. I actually think you could definitely get to playoff teams out of this division very easily. <hes> like as we've gone division division might kind of like to stay take a step back and say okay how many teams because some divisions. You've got like one good team some to some. You know whatever I think you have three teams here who could make the playoffs. I think that the next team that I want to talk about Baltimore is a team that could go wildly in. The Tom Jackson <hes> well. Let's start there like do you. Do you agree with me that like all the end by the three teams..

Odell Beckham Ogun Jobe Jamie Collins Olivier Vernon Tom Jackson tyrod Taylor Shelbert Logan Stanford Baker Mayfield simone becky Richardson Baltimore Tennessee Jerrell McCoy Freddie

"During the AFC do AFC west tune and. Some nice transitions for Andy Reid coming off of a clock at the Panthers finished seven nine last year. Seven point win expectancy length offense twenty-second on defense. I wanna start with the defense instead of the offense for this team because they had a I don't want to say it wasn't the big it was the biggest signing for this time of year. And it's a signing. I didn't really expect Jerrell McCoy as I talked about the beginning of last week episode ended up in Carolina, which also transitioning two three four right now. So we, we've talked about teams where you and I have questions about the D lines on all of these other three teams, the Panthers will be rolling out a front of Gerald McCoy didn't Tari PO and K one short. What is your reaction to those names? It's also I think, honestly the perfect group of guys when you look at it talent wise, if you wanted to start it three or four eastbound, and I think, yeah, I think that all three of them kind of play off of can play off each other. Well, 'cause obviously, you know, done POS your classic nose tackler one tech, but he still has some juice, even though Kansas City kind of ran into the ground by was there, but he still got some lettuces to them. Cohen shorts me is kind of like this flex guy where you can play them at three and he can really Russia pass it there, you can play them at one and you can be an anchor there. And then drove McCoy's like your classic penetrate three techniques. So I think I think they don't wanna get into a place where they're just kind of, I guess, to gap. Ing all the time where they have short McCoy head up on often to tackle poet knows and kind of plane in archaic brand of defense. I think they kinda need to Bill. They field and penetrating just. Allow these guys do just a lot of guys would be take advantage of their own skill sets. And I think one really interesting thing that they did this year's, obviously drafting Brian burn out of four to stay in the first round. So now you can get to you even run packages where you can get PO short 'em all in the field same time. Like let's say they want to run a bear front, and they can have poet knows and then short McCoy at three techniques. So now, none of those guys can really get double team block on them from running back or another device. And then you have Brian burns rushing off the edge, and there's a lot of ways that they can get creative with their fronts and set up one on one block for all this town's they've stockpiled I really just like the contrast the skill sets between the three of them in really like the way that one sure it kind of gives you that flexibility to do whatever you want there, just because he's so sound pretty much any pretty much any like non defensive end. Position, one short can can really hold his own there. So the transition makes sense to me. I think just given the way defense as you alluded to given the way defense going given. Right. That it's kind of ridiculous to even talk about base defenses anymore in two. They obviously want these guys on the field as much as possible. I'm a little bit concerned just shorts pin Seoul, active rushing from the inside. That you're taking that away from him. But it does make sense, given the linebacker talented they've got having burns back there, but Shaq Thompson giving him a little bit more room to roam. And I don't think it really affects Keith these game. It's just there's so much talent man in this front center. It's, it's absurd. So ultimately, it probably doesn't really matter, although we'll see early on. And you might remember on very last year to over defensive play calling from Eric Washington who still who still on the staff. But it'll be interesting. I it's clearly the strength of that defense..

So ultimately, it probably doesn't really matter, although we'll see early on. And you might remember on very last year to over defensive play calling from Eric Washington who still who still on the staff. But it'll be interesting. I it's clearly the strength of that defense..

"But so I but you can understand why people might be like, well, don't. Yeah. Don't, don't let, don't let the stink of the cardinals. Drag you down on the idea of Josh Rosen. I mean, the guy was destined to fail because it's the cardinals they were, they were that they wore wore that bad, and they have made wholesale changes on their roster. And on their coaching staff. Obviously, I just there's something about cliff Kingsbury not winning at Texas Tech with Mike Leach's kids, who always wanted Texas Tech, and then not being able to go five hundred plus with Patrick Mahomes, who comes in his first year starting the NFL and his second year total and was the NFL MVP that like that scares me a little bit about about him as a coach. Now, maybe he's great. And, and maybe this NFL thing works out exceptionally well for him. And it may be Cuyler Murray's the real deal. But there's a lot of and maybe and maybe and maybe in that. Call me maybe. Maybe maybe maybe last thing last night, I was just kind of curious about. What do you make of the way that these these defensive linemen are being moved around and one year deals and Gerald McCoy cut loose by Tampa and Tampa turns right around and signs and Dhamma consume? You know. I mean, there are these guys now viewed as. How do I want us to grab or are they are they basically just move them in move them out one year? Guys, you don't need to commit to these defensive lineman anymore like this, or they're so interchangeable that you could just swap out a McCoy for a su-. Yeah. You know, I think it's I think it's, it's, it's an interesting question because I think in Dhamma Ginsu was great in the playoffs. But I think during the regular season he would disappear for times, you know, which is kind of part of his career like he can be a dominant player but he can also be I don't wanna call them disinterested. But maybe, maybe not be as productive as you would like you know what I mean and Joe McCoy's the consummate professional Gerald is a great guy. Great dude that surprise you. The bucks wanted to move on from him. I mean do they? Well unless he's unless he's just banged up because I would I mean this guy's during the football. He's. Really good football player. He's been doing it for a long time doing it for a long time in Tampa. I just think, you know, the money that they've already paid him the money that was left. I you know, I get that they're kind of quote unquote going to try to move on. Also, you know, when you start looking at Todd Bowles and that's going to be the coordinator for Bruce Arians in what, what Todd how Todd Bowles has done it. He's done at playing prime primarily nickel was small guys and, and tons of three four kind of blitz package. So does Jerrell McCoy is not a nose guard? He's not a D N. He's a you know, it's not what his position is. Or maybe I don't even know. There's Todd Bowles. Yeah. I think he was always kind of three four when he was there Zona cardinals guy. But I also I know with Todd is that he was a big time blitz guy. That's what he's always kind of predicated on they're bringing pressure. There's nobody that brought pressure more than Todd Bowles. When he's a coordinator, that he led the league impressions just about every single year, and that's kind of the system that he played out of. So maybe it's a system fit like we can have great production because we're gonna get you, we'll give up some big plays, but we're gonna get you. We're gonna create more big plays, and we give up and we're gonna get you with some Saks impressions of Murray's where you gapped your quarterback, and we're not doing it with, hey, let's just rushed the front foreign plays zone behind it. That's not who taught boys to be careful about getting so caught up in the system, the system, the system that they think it's more about the system than just really good players like whether it's yeah. Gerald McCoy doesn't fit the system or this this offensive lineman might be a good power guy, but he doesn't fit into the zone. Zone blocking systems, or we're seeing here in Denver. We'll know they're going to be more zone oriented under Vic Fangio. So you don't.

"These teams have in common is both not good in the red zone. Calvo's at thirty first and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, thirty seconds. So either team scores once I get down the red zone. You know, and here's a great example. And you mentioned Jerrell McCoy Jason Pierre Paul they have, you know, some guys are pretty active on a defensive line. So just possess. You know, presented sell some some good matches. But you know, it's a gain that this part of the season where you got opportunity to punch your ticket and get to play in a postseason play. It's it's all about state of mind. And I think for them it's got to be a state of mind in red zone, especially you have a team like Tampa Bay that struggles. Worsened Cowboys to be able to score and original. It is presents itself. A lot of opportunities. I think that's what they have to really sense. And sometimes or j just comes down to this this urgency to really, you know, bailable to develop an attitude to get down on red zone and develop opportunities we offense and the Cowboys hadn't done that this year. What do you think about how this? I mean, how does it feel in the locker room? I guess is is overall question. I mean because you know, and the Cowboys have kind of dealt with that this season early on after the Jaguars Tyron proffer, very infamously said stop talking, you know, what about our offense. I mean, they hear the noise. And so they're here all week that they suck in the reds on their terrible. They can't square got shut out in Indianapolis. They're embarrassing, blah, blah. I mean, so at what point does it? You know, does it become this sort of man, we just gotta we gotta do this. I mean, we just gotta get this monkey off our kind of. Thing. I mean is that do you think that's going on in a good way? Maybe. But I mean, I have to believe that they are certainly aware of how bad they are when they get to the most important part of the I think it's very hard people think that in no player, you say, well, we're into that. We don't hear you do here. And it's to cystic that every week in week. You gotta be good in the red zone. So you start filling that and it just kinda start to seep in a little bit. And I think it's a defense. It's just as worse as more worse than because you know that once they get into the red zone. They you know, they brought the ball all the way down the field. And then it's like, okay. We'll so most like the way for holding away flat and white flag up and I think offense of -ly again. I think this comes down to the state of mind. Look we need to execute. We need to be more concise quarterbacks got to be really efficient. I think that's really good. When you think about throwing the football. All in a red zone. I think it's we talk about reference all the time too tight windows for the quarterback at those those are even tire. That's when you really have to be really concise in the fishing. And I think when you get it down like last week. It's a great example gets a coast. We talked about it last this week on our podcast that when a blow on the defensive line is blowing you up when you have four one hundred making negative yards de become to state of mind. And I know we gotta go back and look the matchups. They're missing players. You know, Zach Martens gonna be out again this week. So, but that's what defenses. That's what they thrive on. They try to find a match up, and for some reason either execution their stolen football yet to be a lot more efficient, and you definitely got to be more concise. Well, we'll see you know, what the deal is Zack Martin and executives who feels deal with that. I swelling. That was really weird obviously know Travis Frederick and tyrant plan while I mean for his stance..

"Percent. Oh, and Allen Robinson tenting leagues for sure. Twelve team leagues, put him on the cusp. There was a moment in the fourth quarter where he was not in the game. So you have have to wonder about the injury, but even when he was held him and they just not that involved. Oh, God, the eagles running backs losers frustrating. Yes, that neither one separated from the other and neither did anything special today. So you're not cutting either one yet, at least you shouldn't, but you can't start them anytime and poorly Shawn. McCoy can't get traded to the eagles now knowing it's funny because the bar is now set. All you have to do is get fifth round pick for one of these guys. I don't think Levy on the fifth round pick, but some mid level running back by Carl's. I can go for fifth round pick and Josh, Josh Adam, Scott into the mix. Four carries for seventeen yards for the. They gotta do something. They can't run the ball heath your losers. Another. Bear Taylor. Gabriel fifty, nine percent own, and I do policies. I told everybody to pick up Taylor. Gabriel we did too. It wasn't just you. You just completely disappeared from the offense. I haven't seen the official snap counts yet, but Anthony Miller was on the field a lot more than he was from what I was watching. And even with Ellen Robinson missing plays because he was still a little banged up. Gabriel didn't plan snaps, didn't get enough targets, just completely disappeared from the offense and he's not Allen Robinson. He doesn't have l. Robinson's history. You just drop them at the jets next week. The other reason why I wanted to pick Gabriel the jets so bad. So obviously Steph on digs gonna take advantage that matchup right. Catches. He had a Nelson aga- Moore aid catches weren't play well who did more clayborn clayborn out on the touchdown allowed to Alder Robinson. Nobody played well on digs. They were decade was over by the time, Robin, Duke Johnson heath. He's another loser into here. They traded Carlos high. They're going to get Duke Johnson more involved. That was awful. Not. It wasn't enough to say, we, it curls hide. We're going to get Duke Johnson involved. We also leak out Sunday morning. Do Johnson's actually going to be the starter in this game that freaked people out. Oh yeah, the first nap. But e saw five touches in the game, ran the ball once for negative four yards. He had a couple of games in a row, a six targets. Not in this game. Just four and it's game Baker Mayfield through it. Thirty four times I, it's terribly discouraging. I can't even begin to tell you how many people in our chat that we had on Sunday morning. Oh my God. Since the start or should I start him over Nick shy, put him up over Nick. No, don't do it shop at the first you carry by the way. And I guess we should probably talk about Nick. It's been twenty six minutes. We haven't mentioned him nice game. Well, for three quarters, it was a nightmare. He did not have many yards on not many carries and then the Browns remembered to use him and he broke off a long run. Got a goal line touchdown and definitely saved the day with a very strong fourth quarter. He did look great in that fourth quarter eighteen carries eighty yards a touchdown. So Nick Chubb kerryon Johnson recipes. I'll take up. Okay, show schedule the next week's. Awesome. And this wasn't like this was a great match for Baker Mayfield. It wasn't a great match for running runaway. Yes, it was. There was no Jerrell McCoy playing for joy box. They were still pretty good against today. They were three quarters, but then they fell off. "All right. Welcome back. Everybody we spent a bunch of time this week. And I think rightfully so talking about the roughing the passer issue that has plagued the National Football League. First of all, you know, I I played in the NFL for a decade coming in for a long time. And I'm familiar with what goes on it. You know, when you when you join a football team in the NFL, they all get pads. They get helmets and the quarterbacks get rid protectors and shoulder pads, and they get pads under the shoulder pads and all kinds of stuff like that. Right. And there's a reason for that. It's a violent game. We're trying to protect you. But. The issue or the problem is that everybody is going to get hit at some point in time. That's just how it works. But for whatever reason the national football, we want the reason is money. But for that reason, and that reason alone the NFL now has gone. I think over the line when it comes to protecting quarterbacks. There were four of them. Call to the Monday night game. I thought they were all bogus to be honest with you every single one of them. But that's my perception, apparently, not the leaks. The competition committee is going to have a conference call and discuss this and how the rules should be interpreted. By the way through the first three weeks of the NFL season. There have been thirty four roughing penalties. This time a year ago the same period of time sixteen so it's more than doubled. All right. And head coach Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints who I believe is a member of the competition. Many. Has come out and acknowledged that some of these calls have failed to understand what they call quote unquote, the point of emphasis, so you've got all this. Get these guys that sit around in a room and Shawn's play quarterback before not at the NFL level. But. He's played quarterback. Some of these guys Steven Jones, Jerry Jones's son is on the competition minute hasn't played football and a high level. Anyways. You write these rules with an intent to protect quarterbacks because those are the guys that put points on the board keep bands coming to put their butts in the seat Peyton says on body weight, quote, the point of emphasis, and again, I I kind of underscore that the point of emphasis in the offseason was very simple. And that was avoiding the player attend intentionally placing all the weight on the quarterback. He goes on to say we've seen some of that, and they've been flagged and that should not have been. Absolutely. So here's the deal. Again. This is this is my whole issue with this. You get your pads. You're on the field like everybody else. Why do you have a different set of rules that apply to you and not everybody else? I mean when a quarterback or running back is running the football getting tough yards inside the ten yard line. He's getting hit and then fallen on by six seven eight guys. Are they worried about the damn running back? Hell, no. The not worried about the running back. How was it that one avoids? Gravity physics. If you will. I said this before and this is this came up with the the the defenseless receiver rule. I said there was a time in this game. When if you threw the ball over the middle, and you receiver got just knocked out. Just just I mean, really knocked out whose fault that was so damn quarterbacks fall. And if you continue to do that, you weren't going to get a receiver to go over the middle for you. And catch a football. The defense is there to defend against you advancing the football. And if he can reach you and put a shot like that on you you as a quarterback have an issue either read it wrong, you let him in there. And then by the way, you lose the trust of your football team. I think the National Football League is losing the trust of its fan base. Given what they're trying to do the point of emphasis. How is it that you avoid putting your weight on somebody in the game of football? When you tackle that person? You're both Dow off your feet and gravity takes over and you're heading to the ground. You are we to assume that you as a defensive player now are expected to roll out of the way, it somehow flip and flop to the side. To avoid that William Hayes tried that of the Miami Dolphins. You know, what he got Ford a tornado? L should not be the defenders responsibility. To move out of the way. So his body doesn't land on the quarterback. Now. Listen, I'm when I played they would come and swoop your butt up, and they would pick you up, and they would they would. I mean, try to plant you into the astroturf and often times they had a helmet, right? Your sternum that is painful you can break ribs. You can get injured that way. That's the way the game was play. I don't know that that is what I'm looking for. But when when Jerrell McCoy comes through the line of scrimmage and hits Ben Rothlisberger in the end zone and knocks him down. By the way. That wasn't roughing the passer. Clay Matthews to the last three weeks have been called for those were not roughing the passer. Those are good football place. And I wish they'd quit with his whole point of emphasis crap and let people play football. Just let him play football. I think we'd all be happier. Wouldn't we? I know I would be I would imagine you as fans out. There would be as well. Give me a call eight five five three two three four NBC. That's four six two to believe it or not the Houston. Texans with Shawn Watson under center. Still.

"You can say all of that, but this is what the NFL said. This is the room. So guys understand what the rule is and then adhere to it. So it doesn't call you or your team. They bow game. So we're, we're together until you lose me. When you say the rule is wrong, you say that is the rule in that is definitely you'll letter of that new law, correct? No body weight will fall on top of the quarterback, but we're, we differ is I love that rule. I have been campaigning for that rule for decades because the most unfair thing I have seen in football is the quarterback. It's the hardest position to play in sports. He's forced to try to speed read the defense with as many as five receivers in a pattern. One, two, three, four, five, go through progressions. It is very difficult. And then meanwhile, there's a three hundred pound pass rusher bearing down on him. That's reading nothing except his head. Like just trying to sack. And at the last second he says, I'll try that and just as the ball is gone, he gets crushed. Well, you were talking about. A defenseless player and he is by far the most important player to the National Football League's popularity. By far, I don't want him gone for a month or two months or the rest of the year. And if you let the body weight fall on top of him, it's highly possible. His collarbone is going to break or his shoulders going to be separated. And then we got big problems because he might be gone for the rest of the year fair. This is a a franchise quarterback because they didn't answer to interviews rules until the franchise quarterback started getting hurt, but they can't make it that much of a favorite of, okay. Aaron drew Brees Tom Brady, yeah, big being you get these protection, the refu guide. You got to pinpoint yourself. So Adam gays, the dolphins, coach, Medicare, that guy William Hayes, blew out his knee trying to avoid a roughing penalty as as a pass. Rusher. Okay. I'm sorry, he blew out his knee, but I would have been, sorry, you're if Derek Carr had been knocked out for the season again, God bless him. I hope. He recovers quickly, but then Richard Sherman tweeted, they don't care about the rest of us getting hurt long as the quarterback is safe. Yeah, exactly. Richard, bingo. You are correct. They do not care. They do not care. Richard Sherman. I think he's hurt right now behalf. Okay. So nobody cares and nobody will really miss him. Not that he hadn't been a really good football player for a long time, but nobody will miss Richard Sherman but Garoppolo. Yeah. Now that wasn't a roughing that was just an accident or again, to me, he should've just run out of bounds and maybe that wouldn't have happened, maybe it's just a freak accident, but it had nothing to do with getting rough. That was self inflicted, right, right. So back to the penalties last night, the Jerrell McCoy one was a little ticky tack, but I get it. I guess they say a crowd of the Hillman can't hit the crime. So maybe that would okay. But Gerald, McCoy was Mike Donnie SPN, and you can hear him apologizing to been even as he hits him because he knew he should have pulled up..

"So we're, we're together until you lose me. When you say the rule is wrong, you say that is the rule in that is definitely you'll letter of that new law creek. That's reading nothing except his head just trying to sack. And at the last second he says, I'll try that and just as the ball is gone, he gets crushed, right. Well, you were talking about. Defenseless player and he is by far the most important player to the National Football League's popularity. By far, I don't want him gone for a month or two months or the rest of the year. And if you let the body weight fall on top of him, it's highly possible. His collarbone is going to break or his shoulders going to be separated. And then we got big problems because he might be gone for the rest of the year fair. This is a a franchise quarterback because they didn't answer to entities rules until the franchise quarterback started getting hurt, but they can't make it that much of a favorite of. Okay. Aaron drew Brees Tom Brady, yeah, big being you get these protection, the refu guys. You've got to fend for yourself. So Adam gays, the dolphins, coach medications, that guy William Hayes, blew out his knee trying to avoid a roughing penalty as as a pass. Rusher. Richer, bingo. You are correct? They do not care. They do not care. Richard Sherman. I think he's hurt right now. Okay. So nobody cares and nobody will really miss him. Not that he hadn't been a really good football player for a long time, but nobody will miss Richard Sherman but Garoppolo. Yeah. It's just a freak accident, but it had nothing to do with getting rough. That was self inflicted, right? So back to the penalties last night, the Jerrell McCoy one was a little ticky tack, but I get it again. I guess they say, crown Hillman. You can't hit the crown. Maybe that would okay. But Jerrell McCoy was Mike Donnie SPN and you can hear him apologizing to been even as he hits him because he knew he should've pulled up. He thought he had a split second to pull up, pull off in and he followed through and not been on his key Stor. Right. And is it a flag? It's close, but Gerald did not complain because he, I think he knew it was coming. He said, my bad been. Bad. I'm sorry. Good guide jerem university of Oklahoma, but then the JP hit. That's another one where you brought it up earlier. He's just slapping any slaps Vinh upside the head. Well, that's an old rule. That's not a new rule and they're just gonna throw a flag on that. Now we get for the Sean Davis penalty. If we could, here's the what are we doing now let's go to Sean Davis. Who could he's number twenty one safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers and he gets a roughing penalty because what he's only a two hundred Pounder because he's blitzen is a safety, but he body waited the quarterback. So you have to call it on the two hundred Pounder as well as on the three hundred. Right? You could be one eighty eighty. But if you on him on, they're going to call it. Now are the odds better that Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to be okay after that sack from the two hundred versus a three hundred hundred probably better..
