"The bruins bounced back from their first back to back regulation losses of the season by blanking the jets three zero. Jeremy swayman handled 36 shots in his third shot out of the season and 8th of his career. The guys did such a good job boxing out. Let me see punch from the point. Made my job easy. So it was a good team win. We're excited about it. He got all the support he'd need when Trent Frederick scored just 50 seconds into the game. Pavel zacha also tallied in the first period at Dumas snow shek added an empty netter for the NHL's top team. The Jets have won four of their last 15 games after challenging for a division title. And in this episode, Connor and I got into talking about the biggest storyline facing this team right now, which is the goaltending. The goaltending lead is all Mark or Jeremy swayman. Huge question. Batman versus Superman. Who do you take and why? And we still got some time until the playoffs, but it feels like the waves are starting to shift towards Lena soul mark at his direction. We also get into some other injury stuff avoiding injuries as well..

"I mean, he's been money since RAS retired. I was just looking at it because I was thinking for a second that ville husso out in St. Louis might be a rookie. But he played last season. I don't believe he's in I don't think he's eligible to be a rookie of the year candidate this year. A hilarious completely overtake. Yeah, overtake Jordan Benton for that. Ridiculous. Crazy how that works. Couldn't have seen that one coming. Anyways, such a sad thing to see, short of an 18 slow losing his job. You never like to see that. That's not good. But yeah, I mean, it's funny with swimming, you know, you think back to about a month month and a half. And people are going, you know, always going to the AHL. He might lose all his confidence. It's going to derail his whole career. This kid, he's done because cuckoo came. And he's been better. He's been so much better than he was at the beginning of the year. I mean, rebound control has been better. There's overall play has just been much better. He's making better saves. He's making more saves. So it's funny to see how that works. When you see going on the HL didn't really kill him. What a funky. Who would have thunk it, Evan? This guy who showed up last year is a true rookie and posted like a 9 40 save percentage over like a ten game stretch. Have like a shout out over I think the penguins and one of his first games. This is a guy that, again, the technical skill is there and all that, but for just his poise, that's something that has been mentioned at Maine during his short stint in Providence when he first signed his contract, all that stuff. This is a guy who I don't think it's really rattled off of getting sent down to Providence for a few weeks. And again, yeah, of course it was disappointing. No shit. Like, of course he was disappointed by it. But for a guy like that who's got, I think that internal drive and that composure. It's a temporary setback, but then he gets right back at it and his performing at this level now. So yeah, I mean, that narrative thank God. Again, it's very unfortunate to go ask retired and wasn't able to complete his comeback. But thank God that narrative is done. Because that was such a weak, like it's such a weak ass narrative. That one drove me nuts for the two weeks that we had to deal with it that swimming getting sent down was going to just crumble his confidence..

"I'll add in the box. Stats, stats. No Boston accents, by the way, out in Utah. None. Wild. I couldn't believe it. I spent bliss. Yes, it's funny, my friend actually wore three different Jersey skiing. One day he wore Charlie mcavoy Jersey. One day he wore Nathan McKinnon Jersey. And the next day he wore a Phil kessel, Arizona coyotes Jersey, which was pretty sick. And he said out of the three days, the most shout outs he got was for the MacBook. It should have been. I said it should have been McKinnon, but it also should have been hot dog Phil, but I did think. It was pretty crazy that there were so many bostonians there that were like, oh, or bruins fans, at least. There was one guy on the chairlift with us who was like, where are you guys from? And we were like, oh, you know, from boss, he's like, oh, I grew up in puberty. I lived there for so long. And I was like, oh, Bebe, classic. Hopefully. If there's any indication from some of these games out in LA and Seattle, they travel extremely well, the bruins. Yes. Very good to see, especially in Anaheim. Did you see that? It was like mainly bruins fans. You go right from Disney World. Disneyland, sorry, Disneyland. Right over there. Well, it's funny. I was saying to my Friends, if we had an extra day or two, we could have just flown down to Vegas for the game on Thursday, or driven there at least. And I think there's a lot of I don't know if it'll be a ton of ruins fans there, but I'd imagine a good amount. That was you pretty well. Good amount. Yeah, for sure. Speaking of good things for the bruins, more good things. Jeremy swayman has been on an absolute tear. Ever since tuca RAS hung him up, which I think is pretty telling that swimming is really kind of asserted himself as the number one, at least, for the past month. Jeremy swimmer has been terrific 5 one and one, I believe, or as if I have Owen won. 5 O 5 O one one. Yes, 5 O one one, crazy goals against average, best save percentage among all goal tenders during that time, 9 60. And he's beating really good teams..

"It's all right, we need him to perform right now because there's no safety net of rats coming back. What have you? This is who you've got right now with Jeremy swimming elina sulle Mark. And who knows maybe Omar goes on a run, but the bruins I think especially would like to see swim and take that next step and performances like this, even it's only just one point. It's a good way to kind of build up that confidence because again just circumstance probably the class of the NHL right now. So I'm going to look pretty damn good right next to them in that game. And again, it's kind of went from being a pretty dull first two periods. All of a sudden, I felt like a playoff game. Kind of going to that overtime, right? So it was good to see swimming and really kind of handle that added spotlight that matchup and come away looking like a legit NHL goaltender, which is bruins thinking is. Yeah, and again, I mean, if he controls that rebound on their lone goal, it's a one nothing win. Again, I mean, obviously it's easy to point out those little mistakes, but that was a simple. I mean, that goal somewhat was his fault Mike Riley went down early. There were other factors into it, but it was kind of like, well, if you just kept crowd the rebound, you win that game one, nothing. But it's an interesting thing because that third period did feel like such a playoff atmosphere you were there again. You felt it. But even just watching from home, the first two periods were like, you know, they went by quick, but in the third period, it was very much. It was very much felt like a playoff atmosphere. And again, I also look back to how the bruins played a lot. I played their defense in this game because they packed it in a lot in the D zone. And again, someone asked me on Twitter as a rangers fan, I believe, asked me on Twitter and said, you know, do they normally pack it in like that? Or was it just because Martian abortion were out and I said, I think it was mainly because Martian bergeron were out. But it is encouraging that against a really good top 6 like the rangers have, even though they're not elite 5 on 5. Against a team like that without those top two key cogs, you held your own defensively, which is something we also have not seen from this team for a while either. Yeah. No, absolutely. Again, it may not be the prettiest brand of hockey, but if it guts out points when you're without your top guys and if you're in the playoffs and you're meeting up against the rangers, the hurricanes, the plenty of other teams that can bury you with a lot of goals, Florida, Tampa Bay. You're going to have to play that style of hockey, I think, just to survive some of these games against teams with considerably more firepower. So again, I think the bruins defense has been kind of a target in terms of areas to improve or whether or not they have the right personnel and again you had some misuse their Clifton at a global rough game. As you said, Riley was kind of sprawled out there. That's what it all just took themselves out. Yeah. It's a great detail to all be very physical with a bone crunching hit, just wish it was his own teammate. That's not great. But between that, you know, guys like Kahlo, I think really have to tighten up their game, I think everyone has more or less said that already..

"A guy like him desperately on one of those two lines as just the trigger man guy, right? Like you've got a lot of these puck possession guys, guys who can hold the puck in the ozone. Generally, good chances, but you're not getting as a guy who just is going to plan and just fire on the net. Like even like the breast who is more of a goalscorer, obviously than a playmaker. It's not like he's like a shot first. He picks his spots to get goals. You know, he drives to the front of the net north south guy, gets those chances to opportunistic. But he's my God, it's going to end a night with 6 7 shots on that at a regular clip. Like Greg's Anthony's feeling it will shoot from legit anywhere, right? And something that's all you need for he'll shoot for Framingham. He will shoot from trim now. So you look at just the his style of play when he's on and how much that can help out either one of those two lines and I think the bruins have been encouraged over the last few games of them going back to the pillars of what make any solid ozone shift, right? Like where they're just guys more at the net front, like felino screening goalies or more shots from the point from defenseman getting involved. You're seeing all that, but also it's all about just getting a more steady shot volume and getting pucks through. Cartoon is pretty good at that. We've seen it over the years of how good it is in terms of just getting pucks through traffic, creating rebound chances and whether that's getting a puck creating a rebound that allows the brush to rebound goal or being the guy that finishes off and ozone sequence where the guy like Taylor hall breaking in through the offensive blue line like strength when he's on his game can be that kind of finish or the guy that sets the wheels in motion for a good scoring chance. And you just haven't had that from him so far. And I think a lot of it has been more of injuries and fighting through it than it has a steep drop off in his game. I don't think all of a sudden he's going to go from being guy that over an 82 game span of being 2050 points from pretty much like the last 7 8 years. I don't know, it's going to drop all the way to what it is now, which is zero goals over an 80 game span. But I think the injuries have played a big part in that. But even if he just gets back to the hallmarks of his game, it will make the world of a difference, I think, for either one of those lines, because I think you just need a guy with that skill set somewhere in that mix because you've got a lot of guys that fit into their roles, but again, you can have all the promising ozone chips you want. If you don't have a guy putting pucks on net, it doesn't matter all that much..

"So yeah, I think for them, it's still work in progress. Right now, I would say man has the edge in terms of the reps, but I don't think it's we're going to see 60, 40 down the stretch, right? I think it's what 55 45 hundred. Yeah. All right. I think it does. Yeah. Look for us. You're good. But I think another thing with Walmart, and I've had this kind of take all seasons. I think he's going to get hot at some point. I think you're going to see a stretch where all Mark dominates for a stretch of games and it's like, wow, okay, he's legit. And I think it's, again, I think it's going to go back and forth. You know, you're going to see times when swimming gets more playing time to see times when all markets more plenty of time. So interesting situation there. Also, also, it is what? We're recording this on November 18th. Two grass is scheduled to get healthy and about a month. Maybe less than a month? So it is getting here. It is getting here. We're gonna be diving into that at some point. Probably sooner rather than later. So the goaltending carousel is not going to end anytime soon. You can also have a factor in probably rask, because I don't know. I still see this team signing, especially considering he's working out at warrior. They have Goldie bob, right? He had bruins, you know, stuff on. Granted, what he has is probably like, you know, like a peewee Jersey or something. Yeah, for me. But really, I gave for any of us some great press. This past week when that guy went to me on Twitter, he asked when I said that Connor Clifton I said he had a bad pinch, which he did. She did. Anybody could pick that out whether he played hockey or not. It was bad pinch. Led to a goal. And the guy said something like, oh, you've definitely never played the sport. And I was like, I have one career how to highlight. And I was like, you know what? I've been saving this forever, waiting for the perfect opportunity. I think this is it. And I did. And then he said something like, that is something like jockstrap. Never worn a jock. And I respect there was someone who replied to that and said like, pretty sure Evans not bold enough. Or anyone's not bold enough to play hockey without that guy. That guy's hockey career was like, I don't know how many years ago that was, but it seems like a very unwise decision. Yeah. If you live in a very solitary life. Clearly, after playing hockey with no jog strap, but I know that dude, then he said I should get a booster shot instead of another boosters. Got it. He had a tough time with that reason. It was good. My Friends, text me, they're like, Evan, should we order a body bag for you? And I was like, you should. You did your old town proud, though. Oh, a 100%. 100%. Definitely shout out Framingham. Gave it my all bad. Really showed up. My best colors. But anyways, Craig Smith needs to get it going. So here's before we get into Craig Smith. There's a reason my brain just like froze for a second. There's a woodpecker that has been pecking on the side of my house. So I'm in my room right now, right? The wall to the outside is right behind the computer..

"He's won all four. Soybeans played better, obviously, as given the just a record. But is there validity to the argument that even those swimming seems to be getting the majority of the reps, swim is also, I mean, just in that sample size, didn't play the caliber of teams that then all marked it. Yeah, I mean, I think for their ration like the bronze rationale in terms of the reps for them. I think it's about trying to please both of them and kind of assessing it as it goes on. So I could very well see the argument of like, all right, Lena's, you know, we signed you to be the number one guy. I'm sure him going into this year expected him to be that. So all right, well, we'll make sure you're getting these again. Maybe if you're a goalie you don't like, you know, hey, we're gonna put you up against karma David Austin Matthews in a couple of games. Are you gonna be happy about that? I imagine if you're a competitive goalie or a guy who starts to be the number one guy you want those kind of matchups. So it feels like that kind of checks off the box is what they want to do for him in terms of, all right, you're the number one guy or at least you want to be going into the air. We'll give you these to see how you do. Didn't work out too well. But I can see that's why they're giving him some of those more prime time matchups. And then for swimming in terms of whether it be the more reps or the caliber of teams, even though he's very talented, a lot of promise, I think for them, it's all about getting him into a bit of a rhythm and having him build off of some of these games. So even though it may not be the team like the oilers or our team like Toronto, I think you're still encouraged by what you've seen from him playing these games, string together good performances. I think it's been 5 straight games now. He's led up two goals or less. So I think for them, it's just about getting both those guys on track, getting them into rolls of what they were probably looking at and then maybe assessing from here. Like again, I don't think now that just because you've given all Mark Toronto and Edmonton, it's all a sudden, like all right, he's a number one guy with pencil in, like, doesn't seem to be the case. That's why you would certainly go two games in two days. So I think for them it's more or less a balancing act, like based on what Cassidy said last week I imagine it's going to be Omar on Saturday against Philly and then swimming again and get the Calgary, which both two top teams, so we'll see how both of them share and both those teams, even with some flaws they have can score a pretty healthy clip. So we'll see kind of what happens out of that. But I think for them, it's all about just kind of that balancing act, which doesn't seem like a lot of fun in terms of weighing the role of the number one of how yet guys more settled in. I think they still want more from Omar, obviously in terms of dealing with those rebounds some of those timely saves those things that it's casting talked about even when rask was here about how important sometimes it's the timing of the saves as opposed to the volume of them. And I can make the world a difference in terms of dictating the outcome of a game..

"It's been promising out the gate. We'll see what happens going forward. You have to imagine that Mike Riley's back in on Saturday against Philly, which might mean you're looking at the world on the right side. So big ask for a guy that, you know, you're hoping to give him some solid ground to work with, and now he's going to be on the right side and we'll see how we adjust to it. But if he either sticks there or he's a valuable guy to put in there, he can help the scene. It's just about where he best fits in because if it's on the right side and he pushes Clifton. Good problem to have if he's all of a sudden now a 7 D because you have to stick with Riley and forward who aren't producing. That's a tough break. Also, I don't think the expectations are super high with the boil, right? You get anything out of him. You're good. That's fine. I mean, obviously, you have to make a move on defense at some point. But if you can get some out of the borough, like, that's fine. I'm fine with it. You know, if he is someone who can consistently play on your third pairing and to a good enough job, fine, like, hell yeah, be excited about that. That's a good thing. But yeah, I mean, this thing on he has the right idea. Get off Twitter. Yeah. What a doubt just get off of it. Still has Facebook, though, which like, I don't know. Would you really want to see all those Facebook groups? I wonder if he's in his town Facebook or maybe I would hope not. The Bjorn Bjorn oh, I think it is Bianca community bulletin board. Yeah, I would hope not. I imagine those guys have a very private one where just like the bliss of like 300 people you know on Facebook, not like 5000 or what have you..

"Whichever way you want to paint it, it's not great. The players themselves are probably itching to get back out there. And I mean, you get four points in two days against New Jersey and Montreal. You want to build off of that. Now you're sitting around waiting and all of a sudden now you've got filling Calgary at your door next. So it's not great in the slides. Not great. Not great. It's funny you mentioned I'm looking at the standings right now. You know who my team is. This is my team. I'm picking them. This is my team. Yeah, I'm ducks. Ducks are fired. They're fun team. And I was growing up. I had cousins who lived out in Southern California. They're actually like huge duck fans, my uncle is like a rotating. He's a trauma surgeon in Southern California, so he's like a he rotates going to ducks games and being the guy on standby if someone like their heart stopped or something. You know? Yeah. They're pretty crazy stuff. Yes. So ducks were always like my second favorite team growing up. That might be my new team now. I think the team that I you know really pick, that's the crew over there. Trevor's. Not by no bias there. They have a fun team. That's a fun team out there. So even though it is one thing where that was a team that I think we've talked about multiple times as being a potential kingmaker on the deadline, may not be the case anymore. Defenseman that, I think Brunson's love to have, but if they're playing well, it's also not like, you know, lindholm's hampers Linton's got we've talked about, right? Like, it's not like he's a guy that you got a deal off because by the time they grass and these guys with cavish really break through, he's going to be over the hill. He's what? 28 29. I think lindholm. So he's not only so he could be very well be part of the next wave of that team. So they very well could. Again, what can changes we now in the deadline, which is now in March. I want to say, but yeah. So we'll see, but interesting development. Thankfully, there seems to be a lot more other teams that are playing even that are very shitty right now that I don't think are getting out of it. Like Vancouver to the shock of many is complete trash, which is shocking that Jim benning Jim Ben the ultimate, we're trying to look for the guy who did this hot dog meme. Who could have seen this coming with that boo like dean? Yeah, no, I mean Vancouver has been bogus. And then also, I mean, the avalanche aren't selling anybody but the avalanche haven't been too hot. I get where we'll see them like going through this crazy window they've had in like coming out show it just off of circumstance of injury or what have you. Because every time you look at their banged up or something's gone haywire, so just too bad because when they're on, if you're looking for a casual hockey fan to get an investment in the team, it's probably Colorado. That team is so different. But anyways, speaking of someone who's scheduling is hurting is Jakob's boil..

"I don't want one of the best centers ever on the ruins. I enjoy that. But hey, maybe brooms fans being smart. Maybe there's something we don't know. Who knows? But yeah, this schedules bad. The schedule is terrible. They've had many. There's so much time off. And then it's only gonna make it worse down the stretch of the season when you're trying to get healthy and ready for the playoffs and you're playing every other day for March and April. I don't see a way in which this schedule would even be remotely good right now. Even if let's think about it. If they were rolling, it would be bad because it would stop the momentum. Right now they're kind of like they've been average. So it also doesn't help them because it's like you can't find a groove. And I guess if they were terrible, then maybe it provides a break, but it also doesn't give you a chance to play out of it. So it's really just bad all around. Yeah, I mean, the only what would be like the positive is like you've had so much time off that you've limited how much in game reps that a guy like felina or like Craig Smith maybe have lost, which like, it's good, I guess, but like you look at the big picture of one, like what the end of this season is going to look like when hopefully you guys are getting ready for a playoff run and they're getting ground into nothing over these crazy stretch to end the year. It's not what you want going into the playoffs. And then it's one thing where I mean, you've got so many moving parts, so many new faces on this team trying to gel and you haven't really had an extended stretch of games just to get the feet under them. We haven't even had consistent lines yet. I did a Q&A Thursday morning people were asking about what do you think of these free agents and like right now I'm like, well, I've been wilms, perhaps underwhelmed, but also like.

It was definitely someone listening at how like just punch in there. What's in the steering wheel, we didn't give Tim Thomas credit there. Mentioned him talking. You can't not. You can't not mention Thomas. But anyways, I'm evidently, that's kind of Ryan Conner. What is up? Evan, I'm doing well. How you doing? Doing great. Doing great, but bored. What do I do what is there to do during frigging board? Yeah. Freak is so bored. What do I have to watch other teams now? This is ridiculous. I gotta watch you know the Blackhawks a hundred different times and the Seattle kraken who are just so brutally. Yeah. Like that team. Who could have seen this coming? Like when we looked back at the end of the expansion draft, they had all this like cap space to take on and these teams dangle and legit players. And you know what? We're going to get a shit ton of mediocre defensemen and not score goals. And that's going to be how we get the fans in the building. Yeah. No, yeah, it is one of the more boring teams on paper too. It's not even like this team with high expectations. Like I know a lot of the models projected them to be pretty good. But on paper who is your who are the guys you're going to watch? And also I think for an expansion team, especially if you're a very casual hockey fan. We draw the be a team like this that is like grinding out trying to get goals and also blowing tires in the D zone would rather be like loses like 6 5. When you'd rather be like, if Vegas wasn't good, their first few years, they would be a team like that where they'd be like running gun and like, you know, the defense wouldn't be up to 5, but at least it would be fun to watch. Yeah, and it's like you're not fun. No, they're not fun, and they also didn't build their team intelligently. Like there's a point to be made about building your team in a sense of like, hey, be wary of the salary cap and, you know, don't give up too many picks and, you know, don't go balls to the wall at the beginning, just kind of like be a good team. But again, they got out and got mediocre defenseman. They also signed Philip grew by to a ton and like, I don't know. I know he won the best in the last year on the years he was good in Colorado..

Obviously, ESPN and Turner now have the rights instead of NBC. We saw ESPN on Tuesday night of last week, which was like the opening night. It was what? It was lightning and rain. The lightning and the lightning and penguins was actually I'm thinking of Turner. Lightning. And then it was cracking in Vegas. Cognitive, which was way better game. It was bad. That was a horrible. Horrible, horrible fan. It was the whole thing. And then the next night Turner was caps rangers caps and Blackhawks. Abs Blackhawks. That's the first time we saw the Blackhawks just debacle. But I was watching. Yeah, I was watching the new broadcast. I wanted to see what do I like? What do I not like? My overall thoughts from both as I like both. I enjoy that it's on ESPN. Linda Cohn, and Kevin weeks are great together during the intermission. I like booty grass a lot. So I just enjoyed the broadcast. Did you have any thoughts from ESPN one? Yeah, no, I thought as you said, professional informative, good personality, said Emily Kaplan was awesome during the broadcast instead of literally we didn't have to listen to where a guy went to the USA channel because she got actual insight. We heard what people were saying on the bends. Like, actual information to an actual game, which is very refreshing. Yeah, I think both shows are both broadcast are very, very good. ESPN as much as I think people will see what happens when they get into more of the ESPN+ broadcast cloud. I feel like that's just going to really confuse people at first. So I think you have to navigate that hurdle because as much as I think ESPN is being very upfront like, don't forget, this is what you have to do. I know when we get to bronze games, especially I'm going to have people tweeting at me or having questions about it, which is understandable. It's definitely something in terms of pitching like, no, you need to get no, it's not ESPN. You have to subscribe to get this broadcast as well. That would be a.

"And welcome to the brewers beat on CLS media, my name is Evan marano ski. I hope you guys are having a great day, a great week, enjoying hockey being back. Not really the bruins. We're just playing one game to this point. Firstly, one game in a week, and they don't play till Wednesday, but hopefully you enjoyed the game Saturday night. And have been enjoying all the hockey around the league. A lot of just having hockey back. This time of year is always so fun because it's so fresh. I'm watching every game. I'm consuming every possible piece of hockey content I can consume. So I hope you guys are doing the same enjoying the Red Sox as well. On this episode, Connor and I discussed Jake de brusk in the third line, which looks to be back. I know it's one game, one of 82. But that line? Pretty encouraging. Pretty pretty. Pretty encouraging. If you guys get my reference there. Then we talked swimming. We discussed sort of the bruins scheduling things, what to look forward to coming up. And then we discussed ESPN and Turner. How we like the new broadcasts, how we like their new setups, and the promotion of it. So we get into all of that in this episode and more. And without further ado, here's my conversation. With Conor Ryan. And we're here with Connor Ryan, Connor, what is up? Evan, how are you doing? I'm good. I'm doing well. I'm interested to hear how you are. He's just like that right to me. You know, I'm doing okay. I'm going to be over a fun way today. It's the most exciting time of the sports year. We got Red Sox going on. Minks were very busy a couple of days, but I am doing well. Yeah, it's a very busy time of the year. Especially for someone like you who you're not, I mean, bruins have started, but they don't play until Wednesday. Yes. So we've been scheduled being out of whack a little bit, so. Yes. Oh, you know, are you around a little bit? Do you want to go over and see game three of the ALCS? Like, who would want to do that? Yeah. Who would ever want to do that? But anyways, the birds have played one game..

"Here with Connor Ryan at Boston sports journal and Connor before we start. We always say who was a number 64. And we were we actually started recording and then I stopped and said, wait, who was the number 64? And I said, Bobby Robbins and lane mcdermot 64. And I was right. I sniped that. Sometimes sometimes you just gotta relish in your own good things that you do, and this is a good example of that. I got those right. I feel like that's I feel like that adds a few points to me in some way. Whether you're a stick tab, Evan, good job. Oh, oh yeah, definitely a pat on the back. But Connor, what is up? Evan, doing well, not recording from a Dunkin Donuts packing lot. So things are looking up. How you doing? I'm good. Yes, that was quite the scene. Honestly, it looked fine. I don't know if you wouldn't watch the video, but it looked good. The sound was good. Little ambient noise, The Rain that a pad is down on my car. Yeah, for those who love ASMR that listen to this, maybe you could listen to that and we're soothed by The Rain hitting the top of your Honda. Maybe that maybe that was a good thing for you. But it ended up being fine. That's what I was perfect 'cause it was either we did that or we would record it like 1230 in the morning. So I was more in favor of just sending you out to the former for sure. Four, sure. Okay, so the preseason is over. It's done. Next stop is the regular season. But that is not for a long time. It's not until October 16th and time recorded this as October 7th. We got 9 days. Until the start of the season. So let the season previews begin. But before we preview the season, which we will on subsequent episodes of this and Bruin's beat, we got to break down the previous season a little bit. And obviously, Wednesday night was the return of Charlie Coyle. To the bruins lineup. And he looked really, really, really good..

"Because again I think all three thousand teams are are very solid by the way no one's talking about this Taylor Hall. I added my My Hockey Ultimate Team the 88th overall Taylor Hall card has like five goals in two games guys. Immaculate entering the Zone with the puck like just graded Zone entries. It's a great card. Amazing, pick up by me. It was a good bargain. She was like thirty-five thousand coins. It was anyone who plays hot can appreciate the addition of him to my second line. So don't talking about that, I don't know why no one's talking about that. That's a pretty big deal five goals to games. That's, that's player-of-the-week status right there. But yeah, so yeah, for its first-round matchups, go. I think that it's probably I don't think it's the Capitals. I don't think that's the TV want to play first mainly cuz yes you can beat them, but your family home. Going to kill you like your kids, a war. When you can't tell me like Matt grzelcyk is escaping that series. Will have come on. I mean I think if you're the Bruins like a best case scenario, you LeapFrog the Islanders and get either the two or three seed play, probably the Penguins and then have the capitals either beat the shit out of the Islanders or even the Rangers. Which choice that would also be a good scenario of which like if the Rangers sneak in place you want a hot team if they gives the capitals trouble. There you go. Well, yeah, I think the best case is, you know, either you face a week a week, I understand with slumping in or like Pittsburgh that got a lot of skill, but you can still, do you still get your chance against especially, once you figure out kind of that they open up a lot of the middle of the I switch, Cassidy lose to in the last game. And what do you know? You gotta gotta cable, who can speak to the neutral zone? Now, it's grayed out that works. I know that because again, my Hockey Ultimate Team is just so good on it. That's my main. My baby, seven, Allison Taylor Hall. See what he does for me at any rate, Before I Let You Go. What kind of listeners look forward to at Boston Sports Journal? Yeah, we're going to be starting to do our early previews of matchups in the play-offs because it's right around the corner is crazy to say that. So all that stuff will be over at Boston Sports channel. Com. So subscribe to b, s j. And if you want from me on Twitter you can do that at, Ryan. I'm just going 93. Go to all that for sale s media Outlets, marinoff ski, that's Connor, and a Boston Sports channel. You poke barristers have an amazing rest of your day.

"That goal, he scored up to use, it might have been best goal of the season for the Bruins and that's that was my life. I kind of wrote about it. That it's one thing that I think you have to be encouraged by. How Hall is stick with this team where, you know, just how he's no longer the the guy anymore and the fact that it's chemistry, I think with Christian faith has you know? Meshed very well but you also I think have to look at the fact that hey the Bruins of have missed is kind of like instant game-changing offense job. At you. Don't you didn't have outside of that Top Line, right? Like, you didn't have this guy who can just, you know, get pushed the puck down, one of the, the other make a move and all sudden the puck back of it, that like you've missed that, especially outside of the top line. So it's worked fantastic for them. But going back to just the matchups. Like, I think the way the Islanders are playing right now, it's still going to get stuff out any of the teams that play is going to be a tough out. But I just think the overall high end level of the Bruins is too much for the island especially the way they're playing right now. It's just it'd be tough on the catch-up but the penguins are right up there the penguins like Scare me a little bit, cuz it's one thing you have to worry about Crosby would that you seem like one of those scenes where it's just these, like, ragtag crew jabronies that. Like, I'm just having career years, like, what the fuck is Courtney C? Doing like, I'm all that. So weird, I'm upset, when I see him, I'm like, who the hell like when like all these movies, they made like Matheson and see. See, I was like, what the fuck are they doing in Pittsburgh? Like these bum-ass guys, they got no playing great. I mean, it's not like, you know, it's in the S pass where it's like, you know, they get Brian R Us, you know, like the hell is this guy and he does, what else? He's on the top six or eight, you know, Chris Kunitz being a forty goalscoring to do with Crosby. It's like these guys are also just like playing unreal out of these spots. So I mean I think any matchup is going to be tough but I think if you look at the way the Islanders are playing, That one might be a bit more of an appealing match up because outside of and I know they play, you know, a good defense and they they pack it in, but I try to bars all, you know, they don't really have that game-changing offense. It's very simplified format or structure they have. But we also in a week, be looking at the playoff standings, and as much as foreign students are probably looking over their shoulder and the Rangers, it might be the Islanders, like.

Bruins' Goaltender Swayman in Line To Be the Backup
"But this way my guy can play can play. It's proven at this point and one thing that has become abundantly clear this week is it looks as if he's probably bumped jaroslav halak. Is that the right move? Is this going to keep going your general thoughts? Yeah. I mean I can see any reason why you would take them out of the rotation at this point right? I think Bruce Cassidy more or less said that had this band you know the middle of the season and not had a little bit more of a window or maybe a bit more breathing room in the standings to incorporate and get a walk back into the mix. Then of course you do that right? I mean it's not like they're they were looking forward to the Sierra Club, part of the plan to have a whole lot, get bumped out of the rotation and to have Jeremy swimming step. And they didn't think he was going to be remotely close to the NHL, like, you know, here was this year when according to plan, they'd be more than happy with him splitting reps. With our downtown Providence. Ain't dealing with the expected development Road bumps, that you would imagine would come from a guy. Making the jump from college, hockey through the pros. Hasn't happened. Thankfully for the Bruins also worked out extremely well, right?

Sabres Trade Hall to the Bruins for an Underwhelming Return
"Stumps were never super high on Taylor home after a few years in the league which is a viewer Observer thought was crazy but eventually you can't you just can't deny the fact. Again you can disagree with with teams and GM's not thinking that highly of Taylor Hall, but the proof is in the pudding every time he gets moved. So he gets moved for Adam Larson and that's a terrible trade anyway. But but yep. And so everyone's like wow, he got moved for that. Little, when he gets moved to Arizona, it's like, wow, was I forget was, was there not a like, he was a conditional first-round pick up, right? I believe it was right, but so you you're thinking, okay, it's going to be a ton of stuff and it really wasn't a huge huge deal. Then he becomes a free agent and obviously it's in the pandemic and he signs a 1.8 million dollar deal with the Sabres and I you I'm sure everybody is like Bruins what are you doing site? He's one year and eight million dollars to play for the freaking Sabres. Top that everybody should be trying to top it but they weren't then he gets moved at this deadline and Elliott Friedman comes out right after and he said he said since that Paul had to do with it with wanting to go to the Bruins and having to know move, but he's like the interest in Taylor Hall. Just wasn't as high as people thought it was going to be. Again you can disagree with them. But every time he moves, we all say, why is everyone so stupid? Why is that one? Giving up more for this guy but it's happening teams don't like Taylor Hall as much as we do,
