And if you recall, they all came off the plane wearing bettis's Notre-Dame Jersey if I'm not mistaken, right? Throwbacks. And it was all about Jerome. He's coming home. He's retiring. He's out. And it's all about Jerome and the upstart Seahawks are coming in. With Sean Alexander, Matthew Hasselbeck, Mike holmgren is taking another team of the Super Bowl. I believe he was at the time joining Parcells as the only coach to take multiple teams to a Super Bowl might be wrong on that. But there he was, it was all about that and Joey Porter and we're just all like, okay, Jerome this Jerome that Jerome that Jerome this. What else are we gonna talk about? I guess talk about Sean Alexander and that stout Seattle running game, could talk about Mike holmgren back. Talk about Ben Roethlisberger and his ascending career in gear two after that incredible rookie season? And then Joey Porter started talking. Oh my gosh. Lighting up of all people Jeremy Stevens, the tight end who was very brash and we all know if you Google up everything else that went on in his life after, but my gosh. And Porter was given like a gag order before the game but as soon as they knew he was going to say something wild and then Stevens made his comments in that 500. It was off and he would say he was just in response to Jeremy Stevens said this Joey and he just lit him up about how there's Joey and he put one arm up in the air and there's Jeremy. Joey, Jeremy. And then I think we reached out for Porter to show up on NFL total access at the Super Bowl down at the convention center and if I recall he showed and he just went in and he went all in again and there was a new analyst on the set wondering what the hell am I doing sitting here and in the middle of all this craziness and his name was Steve mariucci. You know what? One of the greatest sports moments ever is Jerome leading the Steelers out of the tunnel because they told him they were going to let him lead and he ran out in the whole team state back and he turns and just gives out this scream and it gives you goosebumps. And then the next year the Steelers opened the season at home and bettis was there and I remember we were there as well as NFL network part of opening night. That was way back in the day when we would show up to opening night events and treat it. Hugely for our network, even though it wasn't our game. He showed up in a bus. There was a yellow school bus that brought him onto the field. Place went nuts. Terrible towels everywhere. I'm getting goosebumps, just remembering it. And I remember because it was one of the few times that I was in Pittsburgh to this day where I wasn't freezing my absolute, you know what? It's a beautiful September. Huge night. And Joey Porter, junior is now in the league, and Mike Tomlin's interviewing him, hey, he's like, how many times have I met him officially or unofficially? Honestly, he's like growing up with his kid. He knows Joey Porter junior. I don't have to do any character test on him. Do you think there's any chance he goes by the Steelers? Three weeks from today, at this point in time, this man's draft journey will be over because he will hear his name on the first night of the NFL Draft. The only question is when, and who will take one of the top corners in this year's draft out of Penn State, joining us here on the rich eyes and show is Joey Porter, junior. How are you Joey? I'm doing good. How are you doing? I am doing very well. I am doing absolutely well. So let's talk about where are you right now? Where do I speak? I'm actually in Pittsburgh right now. You are. Huh? Yes, sir. You're visiting the Steelers. No, I already did my visit. I actually live in Pittsburgh. So I'm training down here. Of course you live in Pittsburgh. That makes sense. Is that where you grew up? Is that where you have grown up in Pittsburgh PA? No, actually I was born and raised in Vegas, Bill California. I moved to Pittsburgh, my freshman year of high school. Of high school, all righty, Joey. So where have you visited? Walk me through your top 30 visits. Who have you seen so far? I actually started off with the scalars. That was my first local visit. And then I went to the commanders, I went to the Raiders, then I went to Baltimore. Okay, so you just visited Baltimore. You just fresh off a Baltimore. Let's kind of take it the first one. Pittsburgh for you to be chatting with the Steelers to play professional football potentially for them. What goes through your brain when you when that happens for you, Joey Porter, junior? This really the history of my dad and everything that he's done for the sport and for the fillers, that just come to mind and they talk to me about that a little bit and also what I could bring to the table. So it was a great conversation. No, and of course you're insanely talented in your own right and you mentioned your dad's name. Did you meet with Tomlin? Okay. I got to be how many times have you met Tomlin before that though? Joey Porter, junior. Are you talking about like, do the process are just in general, in general, in life for you? With Tomlin. A lot of times I can't even count. I mean, I was over his house a couple times because I was great Friends with his son. So yeah, we have a great relationship. So you grew up with his son? Is what you're saying? Yeah. This must have been wild for you. Right? I'm seriously, because again, this is a dream for you. This is your dream come true here. And the fact that you're visiting in a work relationship with Mike Tomlin potentially, that, again, that just must have been a little bit out of body for you a little bit. Right. A little bit, but it was great. I haven't seen him in a while. Obviously, because I've been in Penn State and taking care of business same SM. So it was a good reunion to see him to see some of the staff there. I've been going there since I was a kid. So I've seen a lot of old faces. I already knew the facility. It was like, it was a great visit. What's your first football memory, Joey? My first football memory, I was, I remember I was living in Florida for a time, my dad played for the dolphins and I was 6 years old and I went to my first practice and I went to get the kid named Samuel and he hit me so hard. I started crying in my bed like, oh yeah, you're not playing football. He took me home. And I'll just begging him to let me play. And the next day, I begged him enough to take me back out there the next day and I hit saying the bull had a pick. I had a great practice and that's when I was like, okay, I can play football. Okay, that's when you play football. There's a photograph that we're going to put on the screen here and it sure looks like you're in your dad's arms. In Detroit, Michigan after the win for the Steelers for Tomlin and Jerome bettis in Detroit Michigan in Super Bowl 40. Do you remember that night yourself? Joey, how old were you that night? I was like 6 years old that night. I do remember, I don't remember the whole game. I remember going down there, the confetti, I remember going into the locker rooms a little bit. It was a blur, but I definitely remember something. It was a great experience. I was on the field that night, it was the third Super Bowl NFL network ever covered. We just finished our 20th. And do you know who the star of Super Bowl week was leading up even though Jerome bettis was going home to Detroit and it was all about Jerome. Do you know who the star of the media star that week was Joey Porter junior? Yeah, I do. It was my day. Oh yes, it was. Do you know who he was going after? Do you remember that? I don't remember his name. His name is Jeremy Stevens. Oh gosh, did he just light him up? And we had him on NFL network pretty much every day. And he was great. I've known your dad for a very long time. And do you have that in you as well, or you have a different style and personality for you? I'm more laid back and calm off the field, but when I'm on the field, I definitely kind of have that in my game. I love to talk trash. I feel like that's part of my game. And it brings joy to the fort a little bit. What else are you bringing to the NFL? Joe reporter, junior, team drafts, Joey Porter junior, they get, fill in that blank for me. They get a top dog competitor that's going to bring it every time he steps on the field. And what else do they get in terms of the X's and O's? They're just going to get a guy that's ready to play. A guy doesn't be held accountable for his mistakes and really just trying to get the respect in the locker room. "So with all the talent out there though, and at the combine, do you feel like with the folks there, the athletes that you can actually see that as well with Georgia kind of taking a step up? Hell yeah, man. I mean, you could see it, but tonight, I don't know how many Georgia defensive backs there may be left after they got a whole bunch of them over the last few years, but the kid tonight that I think is going to be front and center just make me feel older is Joey Porter's son from Penn State, one of TJ's many teams. And I mean, I just remember Joey Porter blowing up Super Bowl 40 by blasting Jeremy Stevens, the tight end of the Seattle Seahawks. He just went all in on Jeremy Stephens. And now here we are after Super Bowl 57 as kids working out of the combine as a stark corner. It's just things go by fast, Bobby. With Jalen Carter coming back, how did that affect the mood? How did that affect? Did you see him at all? Like what happened with him? Yeah, I mean, he was on the field. He was on the field. I mean, I guess he came back and he did the interviews with some of the teams that were just eager to know what's going on with him. I didn't really expect any mood. I mean, like today, I don't know, did you guys play any of the sound bites from the quarterbacks? We did. We did. Yeah, we did. You play will never talk about he's got a cannon. We equated that to how big Al hit and dinger was rich. It was the, that's right. He just hits dangerous. He's like, I got a cannon. That's why I'm going to show it off here. And I freaking love that. And CJ Stroud, saying he's thought he was the best player in college football the last two years. I love that sort of bravado. I think it's great. Especially since if CJ Stroud was the best player in college football last two years. I mean, that just makes Michigan's wins over Ohio State even more pressure. Something that I think I'll point out on the broadcast tonight, so and Bryce young saying he's always been this size. I love it. I mean, that's tomorrow. They're going to sling it, I heard this great story. About Anthony Richardson. Told by John Beck, okay, who, by the way, I got his number. He's going to come in studio at least one of the top throwing coaches in all the land. And so he told the story about how somebody came up to him recently. I think it might even have been right here at the combine. And he was talking about throwing and I know he's a workout recently. That's what it was, where a whole bunch of prospects were. And he's talking to quarterbacks about throwing and some dude comes up to him and starts talking about quarterbacking in a way that was really specific and he thought it really odd how this linebacker would know so much about quarterbacking this big dude and he walked away and somebody went up to him and said, what was Anthony Richardson telling you about? And he's like, wait a minute. That's Anthony Richardson. Like, yeah, he's that big. He's that huge. And his arm apparently like standing flat he'll throw at 70 yards in the air. I can't wait to watch him work out tomorrow. That's the guy that is so many people are going to be once we're through the Bryce young and the CJ Stroud of it all and talking about will levis and where those guys wind up and what they're doing that this kid is going to be top ten when it's all said and done. And this kid's going to go to like Atlanta or Carolina and or you might jump the line. Like this is his physical abilities and attributes while apparently not yet day one ready. I think he's going to light it up tomorrow. And it's going to be it's going to be a conversation over the next few weeks about him. Obviously the comp has been Josh Allen. Busted him and to levis. But when you look at him and how raw he is, one of those teams, they're going to have to play them early, right? If they draft him, or they're going to have to go get another quarterback to play in front of him, like what do you see as his future then in the next couple of years, if he does go on the top 15? Well, again, that's the whole point of this is the whole puzzle. Tuesday after the combine franchise tags are handed out. And then the Monday after that is when the what do we call it again, Chris, the negotiation negotiation period? Thank you. That's when that begins. And then the Wednesday after that is when the new league year, everything becomes you can sign and become officially a member of another team. Who's going to assign these veterans? Who's going to be Jimmy G's new home? Who's going to be Geno smith's home or new home? Who's going to land Garrett Carr? What's Aaron Rodgers going to say between now and then that will affect all these pieces? And who's going to sign where and then who's going to not get them and choose a rookie and push him, maybe further along than he's ready to be pushed?

They'll let them tell you any different. We're going to talk about all that on Friday you guys will get that episode that's going to be really fun to go through then. Shout out to everyone and last week's wrestling podcast, which was amazing, amazing Impact Wrestling came through the building. That was great. Had fun at the impact card. We'll talk about all of that going on, but Dre. Someone say there was something big in boxing this weekend. Man, I'll just say it. I don't think I've ever been more wrong about a fight in my life. Listen, I grossly underestimated Tommy Fury and I grossly overestimated Jake Paul. Well, talk about whose fault was what? I guess when we get into that. But I'm going to save that because I want to take a tour de boxing because a lot of other crazy shit happen this weekend. I want to make sure we get all that out of the way that we dive into Tyson Fury, big John fury, rematch, how you scored it, 'cause you scored it very differently. Yeah, at a four point swing on close rounds. Yeah, I went the other way. I watched it again. I was like, yeah, I could have given the other way up. It's one of those things where I live. You're like, I don't know. But we'll talk about that fight the entire fight between Jake and Tommy. Start off, though, going around the world, starting in London. On Saturday, Floyd Mayweather had his exhibition. There's more people in this blue wire studio. Right now. Then we're in the crowd at this London Floyd Mayweather exhibition. Is it over? For money bag fluid? No. No, you just got to go back to Japan. Go back to Dubai. I saw people telling me, why is Floyd doing this? I was like, you know how many millions got paid to do this? Stupid amount. He doesn't care who was in the building. He did it. It was pay per view. People watched it. He got paid. It wasn't like, if you don't sell, you don't get paid. He already got paid. He just knows what market he's not going to again. That's all he just looked at. It was like, you guys suck at promoting fights. I mean, he knew, it's almost like, come on. It was never going to be a big fight. He knows where to go. It's not over. And if it is over, rob plenty of banks. Eventually, those girls got caught and said it off after Robin all those banks. Floyd Mayweather has been setting this shit off, robbing people 'cause I keep saying I was like, y'all keep paying for this shit. Of course it's gonna keep doing it. I don't know if people pay for it, but I guess the other country's paid. Somebody's paying Floyd. Like Floyd ain't doing this for free. Floyd ain't doing this on a contingency, I'll say he doing it on GP. He ain't doing that. He's not doing consignment. He's getting paid to fight fights that are no hopers against him. So yeah, it doesn't stop. It seems like there were reports they may have broken his hand, you know, Floyd got the glass hands. His hands have been healthy though for like the past like his hands were brittle before on that big deal with showtime. But they've been fine because he didn't unleash on people. Exhibitions, he's been throwing hands. Yeah, he's actually putting punches on people. So, you know, you get back to that style just because physically you can do it. Your hands are still hitting a surface, which someone's skull. So, yeah, something might be a little wrong with his hands. He was talking about fighting Jose Aldo prior to that. Still think that's going to happen. That in Dubai probably does very well. Yes, I think Aldo's fighting on that game bread card. All right, so this week, Jeremy Stevens is fighting in the PFL. He should win this fight. I feel like they're trying to get him into like the playoffs because they gave him a guy who's miles price who's ten and 8. Who's just coming off a loss to Anthony Pettis, obviously no, but he's got some Ireland and he beat Peter queli he lost a strong Carter. So yeah, Jeremy Stevens is a 28 and 20 now. That's his record. Dude, you know what sucks is sometimes that blows up right in their face when they try to get a guy into the playoffs or doing something like that to kind of try to give them an easy win the other guys come out swinging haymakers and I'm knocking them out and ruining the whole plan man. I think they would, I think they would definitely watch if it was on Bellator or something that isn't, you know, pay per view, but if it is, I don't see where it's beneficial for Jake Paul. I mean, he's making three, four times as much on his own. So why would he bother to do it? Well, they're saying he might box Julio Caesar Chavez junior next who's a real boxer at least. And see how he's a real boxer by name. Come on, guy fuck Canelo. I mean, he never actually beat anyone that good, buddy, but he fought these guys. Yes, because of his name. The only son that I think surpassed a father that I could recall, because Mayweather junior was better than me at all for you. But Mayweather senior wasn't a great. All right, this Saturday his dad was an NFL fighter. NFL player rather. No, no, no. His father was a fighter. It was a fighter that no one wanted to fight for some reason. He was one of those guys that kind of he kind of went under the radar. I think he was like a mostly a grappler and people didn't want to fight for kind of boring. And it was like the risk wasn't worth the reward. One of those guys that you're like, it's gonna be a tough fight, but it was a real boring fighter. That's what it sounds like. Yeah. Totally down the right. Yeah. And it was a different era then when, you know, they weren't going to pay guys to do that, so. Right. Right. I mean, they still aren't. I mean, they're still guys. Just grapplers that have just people, they're not, you know, they're like, anyway, so this week though, we're back to MMA. Calvin guitar is fighting Giga. This should be a good fight. This should be a really good fight. Both these guys are young and hungry and studs, I think that geek is going to win. It seems like every time Qatar steps up, steps up. He loses. But at the same time, he's had a much better he fought much better guys as of late. You know, these guys had all done. Versus Calvin Qatar, and then Mikhail Pereira. He's the guy that guitars. And that's about all I remember about the guy personally. So but I remember liking him, I remember light, I thought he was pretty good fighter, so. He's a good fighter. He lost a Max Holloway as last fight, but I mean, there's no shame in that. But he lost 50, 43, 50, 42, he'd be dead. He knocked Jeremy Stevens. He lost his I think the E gay fight is what I remember him from. He lost to it as a beat, but I think he was coming back in the third. It was actually probably the beach toughest fight. And then Giga is he beat Barbosa, nakamura was a knocked out cup Swanson. Yeah. His last name was against to Austin Springer back in 2018. By the way, Cub Swanson, and Uriah Faber might fight. They're calling each other out. I think that's a good fight, actually. Kubla great in his last fight.
