"Stick to my left hand. He flipped his head. Once in the second time we went and flipped his head to the inside where he was gonna reach over and try and just that You know the other horses neck. And i just sliced the right down his nose with my left hand and distracting and it was over at least to put just the flickering of his head really surprised me and i knew something was like all of a sudden like something wrong. What what the heck is this. You know and i slicing with my left hand and distracted him any turn. He didn't he didn't grab the other horse because the left hand striking totally changed his mind now on another horse one day. And i'll never forget. Because i i was the horse that The inside and jock was coming to me and his horse reached over. Just i think he's gonna pass my boot my lake you know. He reached over like he was gonna reach over and and the job that was on the horse. Now remember who it was. I think it was jake jake. As he was going past coming up to me he reached over. Like he was gonna do something. It's weird when you see a horse. Tarnished had after left or right. They don't do that you know and just as he did it the reach over again. I grabbed the horses By it was just near the bridle. Bit and i threw his head out. I was the insiders. I threw his head out. And the jockey walked what you do and yeah. He didn't even realize what i was doing. And then he realized that when the horse went to reach over. When i set out again you know you. It's like an unwritten rule. You don't never touch another man source out there on the racetrack never touch a job another jock. The accidentally hitting with the stick. It's one thing but you don't grab with your hands. You don't do anything like that when you have next year or you don't touch the job you don't touch yours. I grabbed that ran. I licked his head out and just was enough to distracting where he didn't reach over and he got past me and and i thought to myself what if what have you reached in grabbed my horse and i got wound up or race or second. I don't even remember. But he wound up winning raise but nothing was ever said nothing. Why would there be anything. So that i did more. You know to correcting than jock on his back did. But i didn't win the race or or second third and rate plan but jake come back and he says oh man. Tom and i'm pretty sure it was j. I didn't realize what my worst was doing. Never seen anything like that. I didn't know what you do it for me. I what what was going on but it does catch you off guard. It's a very unusual occurrence. And then when i saw that Savaging when it was occurring with. I was thinking to myself. Why didn't that job grabbed that other. You know what. It's only. Because i was based on my experiences you know why any grab them. Why didn't that you're grabbing pushes had aside. You don't think like that. Whatever reason is just not an unusual super unusual occurrence. Now i this this one is gonna go down People people are so it just shows you how competitive they are and and I frankly to me. It's it's it's it was a good You know a good incident that That people were like just wide about. I loved the And best part was i. I was there at parks. You were there too. We we were at parks. And that gallon bob three years ago when he had done to him forensic fire and that popped in my head immediately was like this can't be happening with forensic fired. He got savaged himself And parks me. Rose the one of the riders. Right jeremy rose by on on Told me to go where she told me to go. Yeah yeah yeah. Yeah you use your currency. You know something like that happens. You don't have experience. i don't county race his. You're right or a long. you been in the game. You don't have experience in handling situation like that and it but it does just showed how these sources are so competitive and some Excited about what they're doing. And it's so instinctual and so competitive. That may just wanna do this as much as we want to do it. And that's an example of her. Saying then i might not pets. But you're gonna know here tony. Finally i got one more for you. That i that i didn't really bring up but it occurs to me to to just to touch on it because you certainly have gone out there to ride a over the years a few times At charlestown on friday night there. There's an important lesson for everybody. And i some years. I've handicapped it and it. It's an unusual circumstance. I brought this up before about About the bull ring configuration at charlestown. It's more than just the bullring because it's the surface to it's an unusual surface that some morse's just will not put out and then there's also the question of horses having to go to turn seven eighths and having to go three turns for a mile and a date it. It's a it's a very different animal and so when you see short price favorites and and yes. Art collector loved it and was terrific. I mean first of all speed was just a just absolutely uncontrollable there on friday night. But it is not a place. Caramel swirl for instance i mean. She was beaten favourite that a short number and Just the configuration. And and you know being being basically having a left-hander on her you know all the way around just.

"Wgn sports talk flashback. The only reason i ever watched basketball. The only reason i ever rooted for the knicks was bernard king and when he was in new york in the mid eighties he was one of the most exciting athletes. So let's get to you know he's on he's on hold right now i. I hope he heard what you just had to say. Good evening bernard eric murrelets and derek wozniak. How are you tonight evening. Gentlemen how are you guys know compliment. I always appreciate that. It's my it's my pleasure. I am so happy. This is the most excited i've ever been for you tonight. And it's going to be a great time when we get to your career In particular it's going to be very excited talk to you. I'll tell you something you know. When when i talked to earlier in the week and we firmed everything up and i told derek That you were coming on and dirks birthday was earlier this week and he said this is the best birthday gift i've had all week. Hasn't really looking for bernard. My wife bought me an autograph. Baseball bo jackson one of my favorite college athletes of all time and other guy during the same time he was dominant college coming at over and all that and i was so happy to receive that gift. But when eric told me you were coming on. I'm telling you right now last thirty years and it's great because you got here in one thousand eight to. It's two thousand twelve thirty years ago. I would argue with anybody that in the last thirty years you were the greatest new york knicks basketball player. I have ever seen. And i know it's it's tough because i really started watching him when you got here in a tie on fashion. I watched every game. You exciting explosive. You money in the bank on those jump shots and when you left. I kind of resented the knicks. For letting you go. Because i i didn't think that was the right move. Well i appreciate those sentiments When eric asked me to come on us it certainly erica. We work together. I'm done so. I was one happy to do that. You know i appreciate it Let's dive in you know. Obviously the the big story around the knicks right now and it's probably the biggest sport story in new york sports not Most of sports these days is the emergence of jeremy lin. And you and. I had a chance to watch that game Together last week when the lakers were in town. I i know there's really snuck up on everybody i you know i i. I don't think there are too many people out there that expected this as it's gone on now it's now another week and a half since that game and it really hasn't slowed down. How what have you seen. You know as someone who is own that building in the past for a guy that emerged like he has and owned the building. What do you think is going on. First of all on the court and then second of all in his head. Well i certainly live to each of the nine games that the knicks play does Jeremy rose facilitating everything and leading the back or and Having opportunity work. Some of those games for amnesty It was apparent to me from the very outset. arrogant derek. Jeremy lin was legitimate. Point playmaking god is a lot of point guard throughout the nba. But very few of them at the point playmaking skills that lynn possesses the ability to feed floor when he penetrates into pain and it's still has great court awareness in court and find a spot up shooters in the corner. A three point shots. That was the parents To tonight as as he saw his fourteen assist and he's just a tremendous player. That really pulls you. But i think that dantonio surely benefits his skills that he understands the pick and roll up very clearly knows how to utilize deterrence coming off of changing direction that the dependent artists cheating and knows that nick slip passes through our varner. Meyer for that matter. It's a great town. The you know given the system and given the coach it's tough not to start those comparisons and they and they are starting to to to To steve nash. Phoenix are those unfair or is that legitimate. I would make those comparisons presence made you to the bank. Dantonio is head coach. Andy so steep nasa not only function in that system but dominate Many areas of the league because those point playmaking skills it was suited to To nasa but matches still playing at the same low that he did when he performed for dan. Tony as i think. It's too early to make those departments You talking about one. The legendary players in and be history mass and You're going have to wait till a little bit. Further down the road and start making appearances but you do the Similarities in this style apply you know every i know. A lot of people are excited about about germy. Lynn obviously The one thing on on the negative side that people are kind of glossing over. And it. And i think it's a bit of concern is his high number of turnovers. He's averaging six and a half turnovers a game. The other numbers are huge as well but that six and a half turnover number for for most players going to end up putting them on the bench. Is that a number that that he can bring down while. I think if you look at The next line the number will come down certainly as They get deeper into the season. But if you look at the line of Other than the last three games today and being part of that marist was out obviously due to the death of his brother and Carmelo anthony has has been out as well and so you have not had the creative players have spot up shooters novak landry pills or he moves very well about the basketball but have not had guys that can create their own shot Once of germy lynn penetrates and he likes to pass off. as a. you've seen high degree of turnovers. I think that he made an adjustment today. when they the double team in terms of dollars he didn't fight it back away from it then he was made he was able to make an extended past which allowed the knicks to be effective. You see how we're gonna guy like j. off smith at this point coming here and hadn't even practice with the ball club and it was very effective in terms of able to capitalize scored one football club been around the game a long time. Have you do you ever remember anything even remotely close to this emergence. I think that the speak for itself In terms of what he's been able to do all over the first nine games So i think that's lobbying early to his His skills fast obviously is being done in the those certainly magnified but it's very exciting Everybody wants to root for the underdog. I included novel. No that's funny. Yeah i was. I think that's very novel thing to what right. And i worked the game with Uric would i believe against the lakers. Right when you know a lot of people that have the lakers would take out of his game and and control that game for the most part bottle. Thirty eight points. Knicks went on to win that he's ready and capable of handling all of the challenges that he's going to face moving forward and No i don't think there's anything like it. And i can't recall when when he comes on the court lately i mean the the place explodes. He he has the entire building right in the palm of his hand. The there aren't many guys that have come into the garden like that wearing a knicks uniform that have had that that ability. Right out of the gate to do that. Obviously given the story. that's why that ability is there. You've walked into that building and have had that kind of response. What what goes through a guy's head when walk into that building and.

"Lost interest from that point and Never really got involved in the race but Mystifying effort for an even money shot. Who on paper you would have never expected that You know because he had he had the credit right. I mean second in the Breeders Cup in the low south futurity. I tried to go back and I was talking to Brian. Spencer about this on our monthly comcast. I was trying to come back to you. Know where have I seen something like this before world horse who had such credible form and was bad and looked like the horse and just ran so poorly and and and the one that came to mind to me was a fleet? Alex in the rebel. Back in two thousand five. He was a three to five. He was runner up in the breeders of juvenile one is I raised back He ran last and he got beat. Twelve and a half length this source Door ran ninth of eleven and he got twelve and three quarters tennis similar. They both may jockey changes going into that rich twelve as Oriole was before this one for the first time. Johnny Dean was aboard a Fleet Alex. For the first time we went back. Jeremy Rose after that But but the one time that everything went wrong for a fleet alison. He ran a mystifying rate. You know they went back to rose went back to the drawing board. He won the Arkansas. Derby won two thirds of the triple crown. The moral of the story. If you know if you really like Anna's War I mean he can rebound from this. You know I mean maybe a lack of that like a non effort sometimes can be better than a hard effort lose right. I mean if he ran his guts out and then backed up completely and got beat. Fifteen length you'd be like wow. That was so disappointing and could've taken a lot out of the horse now. You're just kind of disappointed..

"Why he's running night and practicing right. It's not just the weird thing he thrown into horror movie like a cat jumping around the corner. I think that's the thing about this film is that every one of these pieces were connected so well like as you're saying you know the the characters underneath the character was like really shown and yet you didn't know it until later that you start going back. I didn't catch some of this stuff. In the first time I watched the fountain the second time I watched it. I was like okay now. I'm starting to see these little layers that are tied back and this character is this character and that character's this you know like that's more than just you know the on the surface you know who they are I think that's really meet a layering of affect that you know that you don't catch the first time the second time you grab it and now you're like wow. This is really a well. Th that's why this one screenplay of the year you know yeah and I think. They felt that they should have been considered for the best film. And I think when you had to give it either or There was no way you couldn't this good not to be the only thing about the casting that I didn't like was didn't like The the brother I didn't like is I didn't think he sounded like I didn't think you sounded like any of the other families. He sounds like he came from New York very much so very much lower class. Yeah yes active effective for sure but he doesn't seem like he's one of them now. Rich where does it? I know it was shot in Alabama Yahoo Mobile. Take it very seriously eddie. Kids sorry if you fight it but not all the other actress so you know. Maybe it's one of those. The only thing in that that bothered me a little bit was that he was not I didn't care for his character one But number two. I think partly because I got taken out by his. You know dialect That he wasn't part of the family it was like it was. I don't know I know that he was gone off to school. And maybe he picked up some of that while he was there but it wasn't enough to say that he's like a brother and matching up. You know and that's just mind so bizarre. I just accepted him. Wow there's tons a dish yeah I I thought that was like yeah. I felt like you know. Oh He's just he's just a little bit different but then the second time I watched it. I thought he doesn't belong. He's not one of them he's too. He's too excited by violence. He's too hard when he's preparing. Yeah Chris I like. He doesn't really get to do it but he's about to inject domino effect him and stuff. You don't feel right in medical no. Yeah he wouldn't know how to do that. Which I think. Ties into the way peel again. I didn't pick up on this till way much later today. That he's the violent The violent ones who is talking to 'em a that's why he goes and gets people by kidnapping them and beating them up whereas she uses her sex and seduces them save their different methods so that sort of works that he's the character that feels more. He's the myself in that sense. He's the muscle family and Peel said something. Good in his commentary where everyone has like the part they play and then once the facade drops they're totally different characters show The sister is totally different person. He is not the same character. He is not pretending to be someone different. He's at the dinner table that's just who he is he's not going to conceal it. And that's why mom and dad are always like all right. Let's stop talking and let's yield. The conversation does something else. And he's fairly openly racist isn't any when he's talking about your genetic assets it got really really that creepy racist. I think this whole the whole story is built around that you know how to make you feel uncomfortable in those situations and and I've been in those situations where you're the opposite. Okay and you know. It's interesting to see how he played this and I thought wow I and I I play play college basketball. I was out with all my brothers. You know plan we go out and we're all together and I've been in that situation and no the fact how people look at different perspectives. And we're all guilty. You know some sort of you know whatever looking at in typecasting people I think he did a great job in showing that in this film and showing how you know when you're that one whatever it might be you're out away from everybody else and you're the minority. It is a very difficult situation and everybody has to deal with it and I think he did a great job touching the basis of that but also using that to go through the story and make it more exciting and you know so. There is those tinton any builds tension with those moments which is unbelievable And and for a first time director. I think that's impressive that he's stepped up on that level and make that happen because it's a hard thing to do. Yeah and that's a good point. This is first time director. And it's extremely impressive. Verse Time Filmmaker. Even though he's been in the business did he not direct any I? I didn't watch a lot of Kim Peel. He realized why I understand. It's the same director. Directs everything pretty much could be wrong but I feel like I read them. And I've seen some skit while individually hysterical makes even more impressive to go from comedy like that to having a great understanding of horror and then you hear them talking read his interviews needs such a huge fan of like the shining. George Romero's got huge respect for nine living dead Halloween. He's mentioned all those as references in this movie and so even direction director I Person someone who is not as famous as the other people can get on that so important to to the Stafford and we are talking about the original. Yeah I'm trying to tell them and he's he's like all clicking on the two thousand and four one I'm like no no no no weaker. You know it was messed up Also talking about the the types and stuff that you have so you have Bradley. Whitford is the Liberal Dad. There with you know. I would have voted for Obama for a third term at Dan when he turns out to be the ringleader. Oh my God that Bingo seen. Oh Jeez yeah. It was so quiet with his hand motions and I was just like that. And and what bothers me is. I'm sure you've heard it a million times ready. The one the trainer on the one cast a trainers. Complain foul heating claim us all the track and claim foul. So that, you know, and at the end of the day, you know, I don't think. The one was gonna win the race. But I can look at it St. if the one was the one got hit fine take them down, you know, Jordan pushed off ninety against Brian Russell. I know there's a blatant foul. I want to get it. Right. But it's it's you made a great point a little while ago. It was in the mind it's on the far turn going forty miles an hour. It's not like the seven veered out completely crazy like a fleet Alex about ten years ago, almost Jeremy Jeremy rose moles came out of the saddle to his knees and back up the won the race. Right. Like, I couldn't believe that. I was sitting watching the racist. Right. I I was at golf shirt when he won the Florida derby maximum security. I didn't think he was gonna get this yesterday. But I'm watching the reason is I kept watching kept going. You know, what they're gonna take this always down because what they're doing is. They're signal, but I'm really I'm really turned off by following the game. I'm forty one game. So it's been eight, but I'm really upset that they did it because I want to get it. Right. But I don't think the seven I don't think say I don't think he was quitting riding carelessly. Now if he came out if he if he gets days. As for careless riding. Now. I really I attempt to get one or Stewart's on it will be feeble attempt because if they wouldn't talk to the owner of the horse who got disqualified, I'm Kentucky Derby day. I hear he's got no chance of getting on the show. We're going to put in a visual request. Ridiculous. Just absolutely nuts. Anyth- right. The one horse war will is the one. That was I contacted and fouled. If there was a foul. And if there was a foul, I think it was borderline best. He was trying to get to a whole bit wasn't there as attempted to start to make the move to the hall. Now. Luckily for him the horse days outside made room for them more. So than the the front running maximum security coming over and blocking him the horse to the outside that was slowing down. The tidy actually gave them room to get to that whole it wasn't there three strides before, but it did open up, arm and war. We'll try to get through it. And he was grazed grazed at best buy maximum security. That to me is not a disqualify bullpens. Jab from New Mexico's up on CBS sports radio. Hello, jeff. They had me on. Thank you gotta tiny mine. I'm gonna give you several angles. Your last caller was correct. Better plead, Alex, I'm going to give another one member looking at lucky derby. There was no inquiry objection when he got shut out at the beginning. Alabama. One alley Ceiba came flying down the stretch did the offense at that point. Did anybody gets it down? Heck, no, no. Did you see did you see NBC when they cut to the stuarts on several cuts during that twenty minute period chief steward was emphatic trying. To twist the arms of the other day, somebody who can read let me ask you question. If you watching time because I had it on I was on a year year and CBS sports radio. So I've got the broadcast on in my studio, but I've certainly got no volume because I'm admits of doing the show and saw the video that you're talking about did the NBC have live audio in the steward's boot. Or was that a reading of the situation by any of the comment commentators NBC, add no reading of the situation. So I played it. It back to find mine.

"Yeah. Welcome to valor spars Zimmer. Finance on it or podcast. I'm your host Alan plan. Sqi share of Ballard spars. Consumer financial services grew today. I'm pleased to be joined by Jeremy rose bloom, and Jason Kover both of whom are in our consumer financial services group, and both of whom had been intimately following the progress of the topic that we're going to talk about today, and the topic is the action recently taken I should say finally taken by the CFP to begin to change the payday lending or small. Dollar lending rule. That was the one of the final actions of director Richard cordray in two thousand seventeen before he resigned as director to move to all high oh to run for governor in Ohio. He promulgated a final regulation that I think it would best be described as draconian would have if it ever become the final role. I don't think that it is a vital rule. But it's not a fact of I don't think it ever will become affected. But if it did it would've wiped out a lar- segment of the payday lending industry. It would've been devastating and so shortly after. Cordray resigned. Mick Mulvaney, became the acting director and Mulvaney indicated that he didn't like the the cordray payday lending role is highly critical of it. And then he did that several times. But nothing formal ever happen. It became very very frustrating. And indeed reached the point where the trade association representing the payday lenders. The CFO say filed a lawsuit against the sea of PB challenging illegality of the cordray rule. And then finally. The Senate confirmed President Trump's nomination of Kathy crane injure to become the the full time director of the cfpb PB and formal action was finally taken to change things quite considerably. So I've got a number of questions to pose today, the German Jason baloney start with you Jason what exactly did the cfpb PB do with respect of the payday London rule. Thanks as of last Wednesday as we sit here on February twelfth, which was February six this EP issue to notice proposed rule making the most prominent of which was the reconsideration of the mandatory underwriting provision as the beer calling them. So this is. This is a sensually the ability to repay rules that were. Requirement of the role which Allan mentioned would essentially have decimated the industry. So the published a handy red line along with this, and what it essentially does is wipe out everything related to the ability repair role. So none of those sections are mean the definitions related that to them remain the. The information systems. That's the like bare tech type systems the furnishing requirements all of that's been wiped out from that portion of the rule, but it does keep in all the definitions around. What is a covered loan? It keeps all the payment provision the compliance program requirements and the evasion requirements. The second part of the rulemaking was a will making to move the compliance date for the mandatory underwriting provision from August. Nineteen twenty nineteen to November nineteen twenty twenty this applies only to the underwriting provision. It doesn't affect the payment provision at all those fly to the underwriting provision in the cordray rule or the white ball of the underwriting provision in. Let's call the cram matscher essentially for the court rule, the express purpose of this is I think the cfpb expects litigation to rise from this. So they wanna make sure the the industry isn't trying to comply with those provisions. In writing time on it. So that there's ample room to do it in the future in case. It's contested and ultimately reinstituted. Okay. I think it would be helpful. Jason you referred to the back of the definitions remain the same. But just as they level set who's covered here. Sure. So essentially the rule has always covered covered loans. There's three different types. There's coverage short-term loans. These are loans. It must substantially be repaid in forty five days or less, there's covered longer term balloon payment loans. These are loans that have substantial repayment features and bullet and more than forty five days or where one payment is twice as large and other. And

And then John White and Jeremy plunk. All right. How fun later Andy. I appreciate it. And he's Erling everybody in New York racing. Sociation racing resumes Thursday, and it's a good card. His it's rare that I've done more work on a car than anti that. That is a that is a few and far between but the seventh race is a one mile hundred thousand dollar optional basically money allowance big purse and some nice steak type horses lined up, including STAN the man coming off an allowance win. He's cutting back exulting for Kieran. Gary's got hit hit it. Once more solid wager comes back off that toboggan win for Chris Engelhardt who's going to stretch out. That's kind of interesting that the fact that we talked to Chris after the toboggan win. And you know, he talked about maybe the General George they had come out a couple of things, but the fact that they're stretching out to a mile. In this spot says that they've maybe got something else in mind going forward for him. So we'll see back side of the moon who's been so good for Leo O'Brien. Four hundred thousand in earnings for lake lonely racing that nice holiday bonus for David could Izzo. Kind of hit the wall a little bit in the jazz. But certainly has been as been very solid. It's nice group. And there's also the state breads that are going the one mile in the fifth, and this is really good. Lot of good three year olds in here. Prodi Valenti with stone breaker the home bread. Got southern king for Pletcher coming out of the Damon Runyon New Year's Eve beachside probably the worst be for Linda rice and Barry Schwartz and kind of interesting Bruce Brown has got hushing. Be funny of hushing beat. Were to be the the Barry shorts. So good card and there's also a maiden race the third with eight horses that older horses that looks okay. In here. So good card Thursday in New York. Let's take a break. Come back mentioned keep sham l'an. We're gonna do a little bit of an eight advance. What you need to know heading to Las Vegas. "And right here at the big a and more and you can play alongside the show got a cross country pick five here tomorrow acquiesced, and Oaklawn teaming up it starts in race nine the weather's which we'll get to in a minute. Then it goes to race six at Oaklawn race ten here at equinox. And then racist seven eight wrapping up with the moth, a Washington down at Oaklawn. And we'll get to them off of Washington a little later on in the program. But yeah races. Nah. Nine and ten nine here. The ninth year at six that Oklahoma tenth and the seventh at Oaklawn, the eighth at Oaklawn across country pick five and you can play that over and IRA bets dot com is what we have the league pick five naira Besley pick five it'll be on races six through ten here at acworth tomorrow. If you play that and you're outside the great state of New York, you're playing naira back because that's the only place you could play it outside of the great state of New York. All right, lots going on with that weather's ten derby points on the line. Let's get the show on the road toward fifty thousand online as well. And they're gonna go nine furlongs a mile on the schedule here with the removal of the inner track last year is a little different. Now, we go mile in the Drome go on my own eighth. And the weather's we cut back a mile and the Gotham we stretch back out to a my only in the naira bets. Wood Memorial outta my on an eighth year for the weather's quarter of million field of seven go post. Yes. We certainly hope. So interesting field. I only scratched one horse out completely. But. Lucky Li is a horse that has two big wins in a row hasn't competed in a stakes race yet. But get a one hundred prisoners speed figure last time out very impressive. Son, a flatter out of a medallion Doro mayor. So the pedigree's air John service, obviously talented trainer. Frankie Pennington takes over for. Jeremy rose source hasn't been out since November, but has some solid breezes and could be very effective. His biggest foe may come from the rail horse named tax who's actually claimed for fifty thousand dollars to races back ran in the ramps and finished third beaten two and three quarter links behind MAC Maximus mischief. Who's a very talented horse. It will see in another race this afternoon Saturday afternoon. And then I was reading about our brain trust marquess easing. This raises kind of a. Gage as to whether the source wants to go a mile in eighth or not he's a son of Freud out of a trust in luck. Mayor pedigree leans a little toward speed never gone farther than a one turn mile. So we'll see if he can stretch his speed and then on the outside not that Brady very interesting horse to one is last to by open links, including the Damon Runyon stakes which is a New York bred race at aquit act on New Year's Eve that was that was a pretty nice race. So there's a lot of ways to go in here. There's the race has a tendency to lean toward speed. But there's really no what I would call a big closer in here. You know, they're they're horses that have tactical speed the horse that that really ran good late was taxed, but they ran so slow early in the Remington that it's hard to gauge. I think my my top pick is is gonna. Be not that Brady on the outside. I think he's big Brown. And he's wanna stakes. He's. It looks like he's got enough late speed to be effective enough early speed to stay in touch. So that was a long speech. Yeah. I was well did you I did. And I I like you. I thought this was a tough race originally when I went through throw any of them out. And then I finally whittled my way through and I like not that Brady the big thing for me with not that Brady is he's got back to back races that can win this. And I don't feel like anybody else does Reich hacks has that really big number in the Remington. But we haven't seen them for three months now. And I I get you know developing long, and you get ready for the trying to get ready for cloud trial. Danny Gorkhas having a sensational meet here act, and he had a respect tax Moretti is, you know, the nine hundred thousand dollars value Doro out.

"Game the studio Elliott Marty Jones begun giving credit. It wasn't even a question that takes off the words, and I know for fact, there were some name writers, you know, one very well known. Rider who probably affected the running of the Belmont when he wrote against him. But I I think there was some conversation between that writer and John service at that rider. Jerry belly wanted to ride smarty Jones, not I think some conversations of place, and you gotta give John granted stuck with. To you know. And I just thought that the only mistake maybe pending in may, you know, staying up here in the wintertime when that horse shit, you know, I know I got family of here. But it's not alone time. I'd have to be going. I'm going to Florida for this winter, you know, and and try to maintain connection with the worst down there because you're right down there. And maybe it would've turned out different. But you know, I've made mistakes that route my career were I was very comfortable. My my comfort zone was keystone, Philadelphia, park and parts and never left when I had opportunity to ride for different trainers. I wrote orders for LeRoy jolly, I wrote orange his rank white league browley Juergens and at virginity at one eighty nine yards and my comfort zone and were of several other reasons was stay in that t- stone Philadelphia park. And maybe Frankie decided I'm gonna stay where I'm most comfortable, and I've had the most experience of success. But I think Frankie maybe could feel the deal. He says. Says I'm going to Florida for the winter. I mean, what are you going to miss days like this on horses in the morning? What are you going to miss, you know, days cancelation, and maybe a bunch of winners, but you'll take and you'll you'll you'll maintain probably contact with Maximus mischief and stay on. And you know what? You'll also advertise yourself. Well, if you just had moderate success when you go to Florida at this time of year, even with all the heavy has down there. If you have moderate success, nobody expecting you like the world on fire have maters excess winsome raises put your name out there. Probably wind up having contact with other known trainers. You know, it would have done his his business. Good. I don't know. What influencing just to stay up here. Whether is agent Bobby Marquel? Didn't wanna let him go. Or you know, he could have maintained contact with Bobby. When it came back. But he also could go into Florida and gotten a Florida Jin. I'm sure somebody taking that's well known down. There. Frankie should have gone to Florida. That's my take on it. But as a my take on it is those owner should stop waiting. It's a very it's very difficult. Scenario. We we bring up Jeremy rose Johnny Rotem that day in the in the rebel. And then rose was back. He then wrote on the rest of his career. And you know, I I know there's people that. That will say. Rose may have made a mistake in the derby in going as close down inside is he did, you know, which might not have been the best part of of the racetrack. And that you know that Alex kind of bogged down late in that race. You know, obviously, there's people that are going to continue to critique Stuey regarding smarty Jones in the Belmont, the other horse that comes to mind who did. Stick with with a writer through the season lawyer run, and and John Mckee. Bob Holtus until until lawyer, Ron. Moved to the Pletcher and then at that point Mckee Makita ride from that point. But Bob old. This was was undeterred the he was writing John Mckee, no matter what on on lawyer, Ron I remember that was also a, you know, a quote unquote regional writer that and didn't we have we had this with? We had this with the good Philly withstand with Stanley gold with. Oh my gosh. With awesome. Feather. Who was the writer down there? The from Florida that. You know, everybody was trying to buzz around to get him knocked off had Stanley wouldn't wouldn't hear of it? Yeah. You know, you gotta get people. Greg it when they do stick with the right?.

"In fact, maybe for the first raises, you didn't decrease your chance, but you didn't increase because ranking number one knows or ridden even raises he knows that there is any kind of quirk with that ores because he's been on in racing. Also, he's been on a zillion times in the morning. He knows that or in and out, and I was a little bit Vardon when I saw they talking off the worst, you know, trainers and owners get together. And they decide what they want to. Do. It to me, you know, I look back at other situations occurred, and maybe with me, but I look at one situation that occurred at parks with a regional rider the studio Elliott situation, John service that you wish in of when when they were with the name that was he who Maximus now Maximus when John service had a contender in the derby. You think you mean, you don't mean back when we not much on service. You mean, Alex we Elliott? It was a funny Alex, though, that it was a fleet Alex that had the incident that was fleet. Alex is another example with Jeremy rose. Yeah. I ten Ricky. I have a I can't figure the name of the, you know, the Lord, I even got my as a America any branch of the heart. We mean smarty mighty house. Yeah. He you know, what I am bring that. I. Fro? Example ninety Kashin. Smarty Jones and John service and Stuey Elliott. I mean, John stuff, which do you know, you gotta give him credit. John is always for John. You know, Gordon business is business John he stuck with Dewey, and there were a high profile riders business where the mount on that when the show that even going to be a contender, you know, there be bringing Belmont, but John stuck with and I was a little designed this point. When I didn't see each owners who had experience with the fleet, Alex, right? That the he had experienced with me dollars and stuck with Jeremy rose five. Why didn't they stick with a rider like he still didn't they didn't entirely, and that's the point with when it comes to Jeremy rose because your member they had the race that they gave Johnny John Velazquez got a call. And and went disaster. Her asleep member. And also it also just so happened that you know, that he that he had the respiratory issue that that contributed clearly to you know, to the performance, but that then they went back to Jeremy because the assumption was oh, a fleet Alex isn't all that special. And then he meal, then he went on the run. Yeah. I don't know if they lead Alec wasn't all that special and yet, and they went back to Jeremy would you know, maybe entered into it lightly entered into it. "The him fourth. Razors with Steve big. Whereas becoming interviews. This is. Steve. Our to this Thursday, son, bursting through here, upstate New York. Welcome a welcome sign and bursting through on the other end of the phone will be Tony black good morning. The little chilly out there today that you were you back in time to work this morning, or when did you leave Harrisburg, you know, what I get back in time. And I have played hooky from detractors mine and probably got out there. But when I when I went to go get out there. I says, you know, what it's a little chilly a little different mindset than what it was over the year. I don't have to go out in the cold like us feel but I feel for the Jackson get out there. 'cause you know, the horse's like it a lot better jobs like this beautiful weather for is only they loved playing out in this type of weather. They are good the winter coats on and they're ready to do anything. You want to do and more. One like this. So I play hooky like I said on the racetrack this morning. Well, give us an update and talk about the experience the had this year, and you went to represent the racetrack side of things at the agricultural gathering. And I know that I it means a lot a lot to you to be asked. When it when you first started doing it and interacting with a public that in some cases might not be familiar with the, you know, the racing industry in the breeding industry and talk about the experience this year. Well, what are the highlights of the experience is the kids they come in busloads from auto schools, and you know, there's one question you can ask all the kids. Of course is do any of you. Right. And there are so many young people out there that ride horses, you know, shores, and this is and they really enjoy it. But the other question, you get ask them, and you get a pie response to you d a lot forces. Do you like courses aren't horses beautiful and the kids they really do like like to talk about the horses. Whether they have personal experience with them or not was a grid on not. Whereas these are mazing animals, and they're such I- catchers when you talk about horses and racing to these kids and the beautiful athletes. They are and you start to explain how they train every day, and what they do on a daily basis as as was the kids love it when it comes to public in general, you know, nobody walks past the exhibit without having Hugh moments to stop and because you have horses of one a big backward there, and it's you know, it's an eye catcher. They they they don't always know a lot about who is racing. And and it's our bread foot. They're so willing to listen and learn something about him. You know, you can talk to the people and and start to explain a little bit about what what a horse does as a race. Course. And they can't believe it. You know, they don't under-. They don't even realize these straightening, the Jack family that human athlete would chain train. I brought some pictures with me. And you know, what are the I catch is that really people really couldn't believe how competitive versus aren't how much they love to run. I showed him a picture, and you remember derby day when Jeremy Rosen Harvard or has coming down the stretch and the outside sources never gonna get past the inside or enough few strives before the wire the outside worse Jeremy roses on reached over as to bite at the voice that he couldn't get past. And they think that really happens. I says well, and all that I read only in a few times, but it just show you how competitive they are. And I said, I kind of labeled the picture as if I can't be jump gonna bite you. That's how that's how competitive these animals are. And I've got such. A good picture of it. It was blown up. I mean, it's a beautiful picture. But it shows you how competitive they are. And then I start to explain a little bit of good that kids and to anybody who's listening about how you read what these horses are thinking, and what they're going to do, you.
