"Are doing well. Thank you very much. Didn't hear anything from Melissa. So let me check out Jeff, who is up next. A hello, Jeff. Good afternoon. What's up, big daddy, fine bomb. How are you doing this evening? We are doing great. Thank you. Listen, I want you to dig back. When did Jeremy actually get let go at Tennessee? I believe it was January of 21, okay? Just think back for a second. What if? And I got some pretty good information on this. What if Jeremy was called into the Chancellor's office? All in on the carpet. And says, hey, fulmer's got to go. We got to get rid of him. He's calling our problem. And Jeremy, because he felt obligated to former because he was the one that hired him. And out of respect, because most of those Alabama guys give respect. And he calls fulmer and says, hey, they're coming after you. They're trying to get rid of. And then fulmer does a complete about face and throws Jeremy completely another bus. Turns everything around on him, and they're Jeremy is holding the bag. That came from a really, really close source. What truly happened? What's your thoughts on that? Jeff, I have never heard that before. And I really don't know what to make out of it. I mean, there were some rumors going around for a couple of weeks that Jeremy Pruitt was in trouble, but remember, you've got four or 5 other coaches involved here. So this is not a this is not simply a Jeremy Pruitt versus Philip Palmer situation. We'll take a short break. Another hour to go. We hope you'll stick around. Thank you for listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. The Paul fine bomb show airs weekdays on the SEC network beginning at three

"Look at this past season, one of the things Brian Kelly needed to overhaul at LSU was its defensive backfield. And he was very active in the portal this time last year and signing cornerbacks and safeties as transfers and 5 of the top 6 defensive backs at LSU this past season were transfers and they played a key role in LSU winning the west and now you look at what he's doing in the portal this off season. He knows he has needs to address on defense and he's getting proven talent out of the portal to address those needs. So I think it's great to sign number one ranked recruiting classes. I think that will position your program well for the long term. But here in the short term, I think when you look at what these two programs have on paper and when you compare what LSU has added to the portal with what Alabama has added, which is not very much, they've just added a couple of bodies, I mean, I think what you have in front of you is LSU is a stronger team right now. Now, maybe some of those young guys flourish, very, very quickly at Alabama. We know these are talented guys, but I just think when you look at what they bring back, LSU brings back more, what they've added out of the portal, LSU is added more. Talking to Blake Tod one more thing on the Alabama situation. We don't know who the quarterback is going to be. Everyone thinks they do. But how important do you think it is that he is going through a pretty big transition on his coaching staff? He will have a new defensive coordinator. And he will have a new offense of coordinator. Well, I don't think that's inconsequential. However, I think if you could offer Alabama back either of its coordinators or its quarterback back, I think that would be about a 5 second conversation if that, right? I think I'd say we'll take where I shung back for one more season and we'll live with the transition elsewhere. And we've seen Nick Saban transition coordinators before. And for the most part, he's been able to weather that pretty well. But I think the loss of his quarterback is the most consequence consequential thing, right? I mean, I think we saw for the past two seasons that very short list of quarterbacks that you would rather have engineering your offense than Bryce young. And that's how, frankly, that's how Alabama has made its living the last several seasons when you go from Mac Jones and to a ton of aloha and Bryce young. I mean, it's been a great run of quarterbacks at Alabama. It has not had that elite defense that it used to win with that one with Kirby smart as defensive coordinator with Jeremy Pruitt as defensive coordinator. Since the departure of Jeremy Pruitt for Tennessee after the 2017 season, whether it was just because the quarterback change or not, or the excuse me, the coordinator change or not, Alabama has not been functioning at the same elite level defensively. And in some seasons, it hasn't had to because it's had world class quarterback talents. It's losing that and Bryce young, and it has a couple of question marks at the position, whether it be Jalen Miller or ty Simpson, we don't know two talented guys unproven guys. I think they're a bigger question than it was when you were going from Mac Jones to Bryce young. It was no surprise. I think that any of us that Bryce young became a Heisman caliber talent at Alabama. I think there's more of a question about the transition at that position now. So I don't want to downplay the exit of the coordinators. But it may have been time for a change at those coordinator spots for Alabama. I think if you could keep your quarterback, certainly they would have loved to have done that. Blake, and speaking of the coordinators, there's been a lot of speculation. And I don't know truth from fiction on this. But it does appear that Sabin is looking at or has looked at Jeremy Pruitt. You covered Jeremy Pruitt when you were in Knoxville. You've written volumes on that subject, can you see or could you see him returning to the SEC in a position like defensive coordinator at Alabama right now? I think the threat of a show cause makes makes that higher difficult. It doesn't make it impossible, as you know, but some people get confused. Some people think, well, a show cause means you can't employ someone or a show cause would mean you can't hire someone. That's not true. You can employ someone with a show cause, however, you stomach the penalties and the restrictions that come with them, which if we were to look at the Jeremy Pruitt situation, I don't think it would be a far reach to say that Jeremy Pruitt may encounter some severe recruiting restrictions when all this breach is a finish line whenever that may be. With the NCAA as this drags on. So I do think the threat of a show cause and the NCAA has pointed to the possibility of a show cause and it's notice of allegations. I think that that makes a higher more difficult. But it doesn't make it impossible, and it doesn't make it impossible to add him to your staff and some capacity, whether that be as a defensive coordinator or some other role. But I'll say this, you know, I think what Nick Saban has to get right first and foremost in his defensive coordinator is getting someone to oversee his defense. We can talk about recruiting all we want, but there's a lot of guys that can recruit to Alabama and have done so successfully. And as we've mentioned, Alabama just signed the number one ranked recruiting class. So that has to be a piece of any higher, right? You have to consider how someone recruits. But I would think first and foremost, you want someone to come in there and run your defense and run it. Well, Jeremy Pruitt did that very, very well for a couple of seasons as Nick Saban's defensive coordinators say what you will about Pruitt as a head coach.

"I was a coward as a cowardly act. Think like a man and be a man. You don't need a gun to be a man. And what who the hell you hang out with? Why two the hell you hang out with? And again, my heart goes out to you, Georgia. We kick it, but in the end, the game don't mean nothing, man. It's about life. Peace out, Paul. Got you back, brother. Thank you, watching. We'll take a short break. Back after this. You were listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. And welcome back. John is up next in Florida. Hey, John. John. Paul, thank you for having me on your show as always. Thank you. Thank you. I've been a very busy man, so I haven't been too up to date on everything off the field with George and Alabama. I've heard a little bit about it, but thank you definitely for giving us a place to give our grievances and stuff like that in a very humble reminder that we're very blessed to have college football and it's not always promised. Paul, I was going through my phone today before I get to my comment. And a photo came up of a reminder, many years ago, back in 2018, and we have actually met before at 2018 SEC media days. I know you meet so many people you wouldn't actually remember that, but I have a photo of you and I together and of me and Larry, I have a photo of Larry holding a sign saying Jack. A couple years ago. Yes, and I was there too. I have some great photos like how would I get that even to you guys? Easily. I'll tell you what John will just put you on hold. And we'll give you our address. I think that would be the best way or some other way. Thanks, John. Okay, let me put you back on hold and we're very easy to find. Randy holding up the SEC network sign out in the parking lot. People know where to drop off. David is up next. Hello, David. Hey, Paul, how are you today? Very well. Thanks for calling. Just some answer to an earlier call, what an honor it is to talk to the great sports talk. Host on the Planet Earth. Oh, well, you get the wrong show. Thank you very much for saying that. I talked to you, Mandy, man. I'm a huge Alabama fan. But our prayers are still with the Georgian nation. Praying for the young lady's family, he was having a memorial service today. For their whole program, I didn't even talk about football Monday, but I want to talk about football today and I've got two questions for you. Sure. And then I'll ask you and I'll hang up listen if that's all right. Of course. Okay. Jalen Miller, do you think he's ready to take over the hammer to Alabama? Or if we can get somebody out of the transfer portal, should we do that? And the second question is at what point does Nick call Jeremy Pruitt and say, come to papa, roll tide? Yeah, thanks. I think the mill row question is unanswered. He looked good in the first in the game that he came in was at the Arkansas game. He looked pretty rough in the next game. But I think that's understandable. First came out, most people have a hard time. I think Jeremy Pruitt is clearly on Nick Saban's mind. I don't know what his process is right now. There's not a he's not under the deadline. He's known this would this would be happening for some time. So I think Kurt Saban is very prepared for the moment. And assuming that the Jeremy Pruitt is able to be hired, which I'm assuming he is, then I think he's pretty high on coach Saban's list. Thanks for the call. Appreciate it. Let's move along. And try John next. Hey, John. Yes, Paul. Sorry about the confusion there. So what I really want to talk to you about was the power of momentum. And what made me think of this was I was watching Georgia basketball black Wednesday, Kirby smart was in the sand. Right. And I noticed Georgia, the record was very good and they're playing much better. It got me thinking in the past. So I became a SEC fan in the mid 90s around Peyton Manning. And they just got me thinking a question like, you know, when pat summit was there, almost the whole athletic department became good. And then you look at like Tim Tebow and how the basketball team went back to back national championships. And how Nick sadan got to Alabama and look how good their basketball team and athletic department program is now. And it just became too much of a coincidence for me to ignore and I can't help but in many ways feel Josh heifer is bringing that same type of momentum and energy to Knoxville and I'm not saying there is a right answer for this but in your best response. What how can one person come in and change an entire culture in a program like that? Well, thanks for the call. I think it is true that a successful program can help others because there's just a feeling on campus that, hey, we have to do a better job because they are, as far as Josh hyper, though, I will point out that while Tennessee's football programs were at low ebb, Rick Barnes had them as the number one team in the country a couple of years ago. So I don't think you could say Tennessee basketball is in baseball. Which was also number one as Tennessee football was there's necessarily a correlation there. Thank you very much. Bobby is in Oxford. Hey Bobby, welcome to the show. Hey, Paul. Thank you for taking my call. Thank you. I'm going to start with so obviously I'm an old miss alone and I want to thank you for coverage of the Georgia try to do. Really respected it. Thank you. Whatever, best job you could. But my question is, so in IO, you were talking about the Florida, right? They offered them 13 million, so and I understand it's always been a wink. We think prior to the NIL where our boosters give you the and that was our always, it was soon do it, but everybody was doing it. But so now that I've got the NIH and so. Florida's offering 13 million to this guy and then old miss may come in there and say, hey, yeah, Bobby, I hate to interrupt, but we are at the end of the hour. Thanks so much for the call. Andrea adelson, next on the Florida situation. Thank you for listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. The Paul fine bomb show airs weekdays on the SEC network beginning at three eastern.

"On one second. Daryl, first of all, a lot of people don't know what stetson said. So please let us let the rest of us know. Okay, what's that to say? They ask you what he was most proud of. And he kind of there for a second. He said, you know, you know I'm most proud of y'all hating on it, okay? And we continue to win. 49 to three, 55 to 7. Why y'all continue to hate? All right? I'm most proud of these two championships. And some of the fans had a big issue with that. I mean, he was just kind of like it was. I mean, you know, Paul, let me tell you something. I come from a time frame. You call me old school, okay? I come from a time frame where we didn't boot players, okay? Did not happen. We didn't hate on coaches. Did not happen. If we had to stay in time, being studied would not have survived, okay? I see somebody else at winters for vibe. Bear Bryant. Bear Bryant had a stretch at Alabama where he wins. A 6 and 5 thoughts like four and a 7. He finished 8th in the conference, in 7th in the conference. He had like 7 straight losses in bowl games. This was after winning three national titles, okay? At Alabama. You know how I know they would have been ready to run his butt out of Tuscaloosa during that four years fridge. But we didn't hate all players and coaches, but without back when from the I generation, but I just think it's absolutely ridiculous. And let me say it's also, okay? I'm Nick Saban. Shooting angle is Georgia, Michael lateral move. It's not going to happen. You're not going to get Jeremy Pruitt, they're not going to, he's got too much baggage, okay? Well, let me tell you, this is what I think happened, okay? I play Nick Saban. This is Steve spurrier and Florida all over again. I've seen this movie before. I say Nick Saban picked up the phone. He told his coaches. He said, I'm going to tell you right now, y'all need to find us getting those jobs because I'm out of here, okay? I'm out of here. I will help you if you need help. He called lane shipping. He got going there. He told the office going in. I'll help you out too, because ten and two. Okay, and he going, Alabama finished 13th in the country ball in total defense. Georgia finished tenth, okay? You know, or holiday coaches firing after they went ten and two and finished 13th in the country. The next day was they'll save you, but he's not legacy to leave behind. He's only number one recruit classes, and we're going to see if the Nash coaches have to do as good as he did because he would have left the place much better now was when he found it, but I think that's what's going on here. If he wants to pat him on the back, come on he got go run off. And you did old miss the favor legend. You're going to be you're signing your own death stiffness. I'm telling you right now. Okay, Gerald, thanks for the call. I appreciate it. I think we need to move on. Let's check in with JD in Kentucky. Hello, JD. How are you doing, Paul? Very well. Thank you. Hi, a longtime blister, washer and I love your show. I want to talk about the tragedy in Georgia and also the treasury Alabama. Sometimes we get so involved in our teams got to win. Our teams got to do this. It is said that things like this happen. Well, JD, thank you. And we are going to address the situation beyond words in Alabama in just a couple of minutes. We'll get to that. But we appreciate all of your calls. And we'll take them the rest of the way. We'll have plenty of conversation here about different things, but we certainly felt compelled to at least begin the show talking about what happened in Athens. Geico asks, how would you love a chance to save some money on car insurance? Of course he would, and when it comes to great rates on insurance,

"It is. It really is. And the dog's Twitter account is a close second. The lane kiffin, dog Twitter account, isn't it amazing the impact that social media has in the perception that lane kiffin is created for himself and recreated himself. Meanwhile, at auburn, now Hugh freeze is not going to have the benefit of social media. I saw this. Well, do we know that for sure, or by the way? Somebody else will be running it. Do you have freeze was never that active on social media? You're right. He wasn't active on social media. He was active plenty of other places though. I'll tell you what, I saw Yale dot com did this timeline, and I'm thinking, oh, I'll just take a few snippets of this. And it kept going and going and going. And I said, my goodness. You know who the happiest person is with the hue freeze hiring at auburn? Jeremy Pruitt. Jeremy Pruitt, his list is about this long and oh, he gave $60,000 to what is 60,000. That doesn't even buy you a holder for the kicker anymore. What a $60,000 in NIL buy a third string running back. I mean, it's just don't forget the McDonald's. Well, it was actually Chick-fil-A. Oh, Chick-fil-A. The bag. And you know what's funny? I talked to Jeremy about it and he said, you know what? For that lady who needed that money for hip surgery. He said he'd do it again. And I'm thinking to myself, where was this system at where coaches and programs couldn't assist players and parents? And I'm not talking about buying Reggie bush's parents. A house in California like USC. I'm talking about medical expenses to help a family when a son is in college and can't get a job because and again, I'm not trying to turn Jeremy Pruitt into a sympathetic figure as much as you like and ball. He doesn't need that. He's going to pay his time and whatever. He's got to sit out. I'm not sure, not be ad coach, whatever it's going to be, but when you look at Hugh freeze is hiring at auburn. What that does is that opens the door for a lot of coaches that maybe have had show cause penalties or NCAA issues because the SEC places itself above all of college football as it should and I think this sends a message that if you come clean and you've paid your time and another school that Greg sank in the SEC will give you a chance. Listen, every time I'm about to say you already know but I

"Up lane kiffin. I mean, this is the more the cat of the SEC. This guy's got 9 lives here. You take a look at what he did at the university of Tennessee and hostesses were paid to go see a recruit and the recruiting staff that he had, it was egregious. But he's back, right? Lane put his time in, he went somewhere else and did a good job. And now he's, I think he's a very good head coach. I think he adds to the SEC. If people had just tarred and feathered lane kiffin after his failings at southern calor after his failings with the Oakland Raiders, or after his failings with the university of Tennessee, we wouldn't see this old missed program in the position that they're in to grow. So I just think it's a little soon to write off Jeremy Pruitt Paul and try to end his career. Listen, I don't really it doesn't really matter to me whether he works or not. I'm not invested in him like you are, but he did have a ten and 16 SEC record in his final year was an absolute embarrassment. And on top of that, he failed about every Canada being a head coach, and that's the ability to communicate. I mean, he was a disaster at that. So maybe he's great on your podcast. I'll have to check it out the next time I get a free moment on Monday night. You will. He is great on the almost as good as you when you come on by show. I'm not proposing that he be hired as a head coach. But as a coordinator, there's no doubt. You know, he won a national championship with Florida state. Attack on lane kiffin is. I mean, yeah, whatever. It's not an attack. Mike, it's given you an example. This is not me. This is not meet the press where you can just make up whatever you want. I mean, you flat out took lane kiffin out a minute ago. I heard it and everybody else heard it. I said he's doing a great job. No, no, no. You basically, you wondered how he could essentially get hired. Why can't Jeremy, you're trying to equate what lane kiffin went through at Tennessee and what Jeremy Pruitt has been accused of. And I don't think that you can necessarily connect the dots there. But that's fine. You're welcome to do whatever. That's interesting. To embrace your podcast king on Monday night. No, no, no. I think there's a lot of things that go into coaching. I think NCAA violations and I think character and ethics also matter. So I'm not going to take the Jeremy Pruitt lane gift and comparison any further. Because there's a lot of exciting coaches. March stoops is a guy who, by the way, has a similar SEC record of Jeremy Pruitt. He just passed Bayer Bryant in terms of his winning percentage is the Kentucky all time winningest coach and I've got to give him some credit because earlier this year I was critical of Kentucky and they went down to the swamp and they stared Billy Napier in his fourth town called in the eye and the Kentucky wildcats pulled out a big win. You know, Mark scoops is 29 and one score games. I mean, there's something to be said for the way this guy coaches. And I asked him about it this week. And he said, it takes a lot to get us rattled around here. I think Kentucky could end up being Georgian's biggest competitor in the east. That November game in Lexington looms large. The only other team that I can see in the east is going to stay on the field is Tennessee because they got one heck of a Gritty win there pit. I mean, that was not some track meat where they just ran away. They had to play some football. They had to overcome some adversity. That showed me something with the Tennessee baseball. The SEC east has got some teeth at the top this year. Mike Griffith in Athens appreciate his time very much. We'll head to the break right now, get more of your phone calls here at 855-242-7285 and we are back right after this. We wrap it in a podcast. So it was a bad day. Yeah, the laugh you missed it, didn't you? I can say too. Constant elevation causes expansion. This guy goes by the name of Drake. Yes, sir. You got Cardi B and finally. Light skinned Jermaine. And we write in the pit man with nip hustle. What's up? And you seem to be getting better. I'm like, that's what's supposed to happen. Perfect off podcast. "I wanted your thoughts on that as well. Well, it's always the case, Matt, fans are heard on shows like this, but they're not listened to by patients. David is up next. Hey, David. All time mom, guess what, I'm not going to say nothing about to hear ask you about the barber. I'm not going to ask you how you do it because I know you're doing okay because everybody else asked. What I want to know, but we're going to talk about my volunteers in a minute, but what I want to know is why in the world we let these boobs call this show. Jim wants to sit there and talk about how monkey albums he wants to talk about didn't take a deal, tap daddy did have a good call, but he's taking too much moonshine in Colombia. He thinks parallels go go ten and two. So I don't know what to get ratings from these boobs. What are we doing, Paul fine, bob? What in the world are we doing with this TV show? That's what I want to know. Now let's talk about my volunteers. I've seen ten and two, 9 and three, give me your perspective. Give me, let's stick with you for a second. Ten and two explain to me how Tennessee goes ten and two. All right, I will, but I want you to explain to me how they don't go ten and two. I think I'll lose the door. They will lose out there. All right, they're going to lose the Georgia and Alabama. All right, Kentucky's a push game that could go either way. LSU have the new coach. But illegal. You know that, don't you? They are LSU, but he's a new coach. It's a new system. Anything can happen. It's what I'm telling you. And that's why I'm coming down in three. They might lose the LSU. They might lose a Kentucky. I was paying 93 with a possible penalty. I know they might do this and they might do that and all the other cliches. We don't need cliches. We want opinions here. We don't want nonsense, and you just giving us a bunch of nonsense about how Tennessee can be ten and two. You didn't back it up. We'll try again another day. Let's talk to bubba in North Carolina. Hey, we're on a good subject. We're on Tennessee. There's no way Tennessee is probably going to go to two realistically realistically. But I've heard all these talk about Kentucky going to be number two in the east and all this bull. There's no way they're coming to Knoxville on a beat, Tennessee. It's not happening. In turkey to Tennessee is like Florida is the Tennessee just in reverse. They have something they tend to see is 8 and two against Kentucky to last ten years. Well, I mean, we all know Tennessee once went 25 years without losing a Kentucky. Maybe longer. So yeah, I mean yeah. And me Kentucky. Jeremy Pruitt, well, of course, you know, I had a coach tell me this today. And guarantee guarantor was a Mulligan. To all those coaches who lost to Jeremy Pruitt, I would, I wouldn't count that as a loss because it's going to be vacated. Well, the Jeremy Pruitt deals that Tennessee got rid of him. They sailed for Porter. That was the business. They had 12.6 million reasons to sell report. They got two. Exactly. And the only way they could turn the program around faster is to get rid of him faster. So that's what they did. I mean, what he did and I know some Tennessee fans want to say no big deal. And I don't think it will be a big deal, but it's still disgraceful. I mean, it is it's embarrassing. It's embarrassing for the university. It's a very thing for the fan base cornbread. He was a joke. I think Philip farmer's heart was in the right place when he hired him. But he didn't have a clue that what he hired right there. He didn't hire a he had football, okay? It explained how all of that went on. I mean, Tennessee is a small place. How all of that went on and he either was unaware, which is hard to believe. Look the other way. Or was so desperate to win that he tolerated that. I mean, the same Philip fulmer who called out Alabama as a bunch of cheaters back in the early 2000s, are you telling me he didn't know anything? He saw nothing. Was he that out of touch as an athletic director? That's pretty amazing to think about. Cheerleader is up next. I'm going to have to give up cooking, man. It's just too much work. There's so much work. So now I are you cooking anyway. I mean, can't you just go buy whole food and pick one? I don't know. I have lost my mind. I don't know because I like to, but lately at this paid down here in Birmingham, Alabama. And I feel for these guys that are going to be playing football. On the field. That's something terrible. But anyway, you said something earlier in the show about the network and what time shows were the TV games were coming on and who was quite and who and what time. And you said, well, you know, you know who controlled football and if I'm saying this wrong, let me know, but you know who control football,

"We had our we had our bag lunch on the weekend. And there's an attorney in the group. And he made a very good point. He said that there are cases floating through the courts to make the athletes employer employees of the school. Yes. So that might be a good thing. Because by the way, it may be, it may be the only way they can get around this. And you're a 100% correct. Yeah, he says, once they're an employee, they've got an employment contract. So the NIL goes back to us. And the portal would be governed by the time of the contract. He's right. You think the schools would be pushed them for it. Because they can't sustain everything you heard save and complain about last week and others. I mean, everyone said the same thing. He just is the most prominent, can be rectified by your plan right there. That center interesting, well, again, we missed it for two weeks here. At least up in West Virginia. Well, thank you very much. Hope you're feeling go up. You're feeling good. I'm feeling great. I was not sick, by the way. I was out. This was not a break predicated by illness. Pat is in Georgia helipad. Hey, Paul, thanks. This is the reason I called, but I do think Jeremy Pruitt needs I'll say an indefinite period for show cause. And I don't want the athletes that are there now and the fans are there now to be penalized by this. Maybe a 7 figure fine imposed on Tennessee. And then move on and let it go. And amen to the family of collars and the catharsis that's there. You said that very well.

"You were listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. Heading toward the end of the second hour, a couple more guests to go, but we have plenty of time to get in. So certainly good time to call if you want 855-242-7285. We talked earlier about Nick Saban's response yesterday to allegations of tampering by Louisville, will play what Saban said if you missed it at the top of the show in just a few minutes. Let's continue with more phone calls if you'd like to get in and Mitchell is up next in North Carolina. Hello, Mitchell. Go right ahead. Hey Paul, a longtime listener, first time caller. Thanks for having me. I just kind of hinted in this past, but I've been a lifelong gator fan my whole life. There's something about Billy Napier that I just can't quite put my finger on, but there's something really special there. He's just so prepared, just seems so down to earth and like he just knows exactly what he's doing the moment or the job the program's not too big for him. I think he's going to do special things that Florida and really turn the program back to where once was under urban Meyer and Steve spurrier before that, of course. And I just wanted to say, I just think Napier is going to make Florida national powerhouse and I just have this feeling. I can't quite put my finger on, but there's something about him that's truly special. So I just wanted to get your thoughts on that and go Gators. Yeah, Mitchell, thank you very much and what you're saying has been heard by many people. I agree in the encounters that we have had with Billy Napier, he's smart, he's all business, he probably the most organized coach I've run into in a long time. And you can overdo the Sabin comparisons and I know people are sick of it. But there is from an organizational standpoint, he does seem similar. And I know everyone says, well, all you have to do is just take this Sabin template. How many failures have Sabin had? In terms of his disciples. I mean, let's think about it. I think the better question is, who's been the biggest? And we certainly. Was an abject disaster. At Tennessee, so is Jeremy Pruitt. Now, Jeremy Pruitt, interestingly, if you analyze him early on, you probably would have been wrong and I was. I thought Pruitt had a chance to be something very special because he was a really great evaluator, strong recruiter. He just couldn't let his ego got in the way. I mean, I can't tell you how many times people tried to help Jeremy Pruitt and the man was just too obstinate, too stupid, really. I mean, I hate to use the word, but I'm going to. He was too stupid to accept what people were trying to offer. I know one person in particular, very prominent person in Oxford. Who went to Pruitt and said, listen, you're really rough around the edges. And I have friends who was very short amount of time would be willing to help you. These are people that want to do it because they care. And Pruitt basically looked at the guy like, you're out of your mind. I know what I'm doing here. And that's why Pruitt will probably never be another head coach. And three or four years ago, you could have put him on the list to replace Nick Saban, which is always fun to talk about, but I think the man mentioned a minute ago, Napier, nobody knows when savings leaving. I'm not one who thinks he's going to be 80 years old, coaching. Maybe I'm just I've seen too many coaches hit 70 and that's somewhere along the line. They either realize where somebody else realizes that it's time to go. But Napier would be on that list. I think TBD on Dan lanning, I will tell you, I was with him two weeks ago today in Vegas, spent about 30 or 40 minutes before the show talking to him and he says as impressive as someone as anyone I've ever met, who has never coached a game. I have no earthly idea what he's going to look like as a head coach. But if he is successful, he's on that list. You would think Cristobal would be, but Cristobal could realize, I'm not, why would I leave Miami? I'm at my Alma mater and.

"In your future. No fortune tellers needed. Happy Geico een. Joseph is up next in tupelo, Mississippi. Hello, Joseph. Good afternoon. Thank you again. Thank you. How about this past weekend? It was so unless you can Oscar, wasn't it? I always love going there, but it was there was a sense I haven't felt in a number of years. And it was really fun to be there. Thanks for watching 2014. We had game day or there Alabama, but also. This all of our game. I'm looking forward to it, but I am a little bit nervous because like you said, earlier, Albert has unpredictable. And it's going to be it's going to be a tough time in all the fans and also they're going to have the home field of age and I was just going to get your thoughts on that. I think all this is ready for this. I mean, they've been to Alabama. They've been to Tennessee. As great an atmosphere as you get at auburn, there won't be anything that the rebels aren't used to, but I'm continuing worried about the health of this team and because remember in talking a couple of times last week, I mean, he's got a beaten down team. They need a break and this is a really brutal run right here. It is. And I mean, but I'm hoping if there's some way that we can stay out there and everything come out right. We run the table, I'm just wondering, what is it on tight? With those decent wins that we'd have on the season. I mean, I'm already ranked can it somehow squeeze in that four spot? Listen my answer will be clinical here. I would simply say don't be concerned about that yet. Because I'm not optimistic. That would be, but I don't know what's going to happen over these next 6 or 7 weeks. Just like the first 8 have been the most unpredictable we've ever encountered. So I know Kentucky fans want to bring that up. I know all misfits. Listen, when you're in a position to ask about making the playoff, it's great. We heard it from a and M fans last year, but I would go to auburn first and be concerned about the tigers. David is up next. The hello David. Good afternoon, Paul. Thank you for taking my call. Thank you. Got a question for you. In the next few weeks, if things go south at Alabama, who do you think or where do you think your opinion Coke saving will cost render flow, golden got to go with things go south there. So where do you think Sabin would look to to replace him? Well, this is just me three associate. I think his first choice and I don't know if his first choice is going to be permissible, but I would think he would want Jeremy Pruitt back. I was thinking that myself. Yeah. And by the way, Jeremy Pruitt, all the things we said about him as a head coach are not applicable to him as a defensive coordinator. He's a phenomenal defensive coordinator. The only thing I just don't know where Jeremy Pruitt is going to be at that point from a hire, a higher ability standpoint. I mean, I mean, think about Hugh freeze. I realize you freeze was a head coach. But I still don't think you freeze can get hired in the SEC. And this is just an opinion here. But don't focus on his fall from grace because of what happened with the phones. Think about the NCAA issues. And I don't know where and the fact that Pruitt is still continuing to fight with Tennessee, probably won't help it. So can he pass the test? Don't forget, you freeze. Now, I can tell you, I asked the commissioner point blank, did you stop Hugh freeze from being hired at Alabama's offensive coordinator? He said, no. And he's telling the truth. But that doesn't mean that his office encouraged Alabama to look elsewhere. And the reason why they were doing that was because they didn't feel like it was fair for freeze to be coaching at Alabama, Missouri or anywhere else while the program he left behind was ineligible for postseason. Now we don't know the disposition of the Tennessee case. I know that was a long, highfalutin well wasn't that high flu. But that was a long answer to your question. Thank you. Bo is in polys island a place I would like to be permanently. How are you? Oh, how are you, sir? I'm doing great. What's going on? Well, I mean, I'm sitting out on the dock overlooking the intercostal waterway. It's about 75°. Kind of beautiful day. And Paul, I just a quick question for you. When the team has been lodged or is it can allow or penalize? It's a good question. Depending on what analyze is a nice way of saying it, penalized it seems to be, doesn't it? Yeah, it sounds like you came. Anyway, Paul, my question is, has Jordan? How many years does Georgia have to go and be penalized or penalized for playing in Jacksonville? What's interesting, I'm gonna become a professor here for a second. Okay. Penalize. I mean, what is the definition of penalized or penalized? It drives from the word penal. Does it not? Yeah, I don't know the answer. You don't get sent to the penal farm, you get sent to the penal farm. Exactly. Here's the answer to your question. And I don't know who's on our show Friday and I really don't care. But I've stayed with the better Jacksonville. I think 5 straight years, Lenny, whatever his name is. Tell me how great this game is..

"I just got back from the doctor. So I wanted to get a hold of you and ask you a question. This deal with Jerry may prudent in Tennessee, have you heard any ramblings going on about any of that and all the information he says he has that he can use against Tennessee and fit them back for years? I've always felt that in matters like this. If you're holding the cards, you don't go public. You tell them, listen, you've got until this date or we are going to go public with a lawsuit, not with a threat. I think it's cheapens everything when lawyers go off like this and I don't even know the name of this lawyer he may be first in his class at Harvard for all I know, but to me, this just smells like a cheap trick. Smells like blackmail. Yeah, and I tell I would tell Tennessee, you know, I think the people of Tennessee all just tell the guy to stick it. What bothers me is is how do you get all this information? Well, from his client. And you know, by the way, Jeremy Pruitt, if he wants to play that kind of game, you know, by the way, I mean, I'm speaking without knowing the facts. He may have enough to bury Tennessee, but I doubt it. And, you know, if he buries Tennessee, he will implicate his own client. And I think Jeremy Pruitt would be wiser to have reached some accommodation than go to the media. And by the way, I'm in the media. So I've had these lawyers knocking on my door in the past. And usually it's a cheap trick. It's just some fleabag attorney trying to shake a university down. And you know, Tennessee may be playing this all wrong. Frankly, I'm not sure they played it right from the beginning, but at least stick with your game. Your game plan was to fire Jeremy Pruitt, basically insinuate that he cheated. Forget insinuate, flat out say that he did. And roll the dice. To cave in now, what good does that do? Well, you know, the thing that bothers me is all is he said he didn't have any knowledge of what some of his assistants were doing. He's the head coach. That's ridiculous. No. Yeah, thanks for the college. Again, I want to make it clear. I have this attorney is making a bunch of threats. But the best attorneys don't go to don't go to the media. They really don't. They play their cards in a conference room, sitting across from the attorneys from the other side, and they basically say, listen, do whatever you want. If you don't settle this lawsuit, we.

"7 24 is Alabama's morning news. I'm jt. Well, well, well. Well, look at the Crimson Tide Basketball program. Hopefully, cow. I'll tell you what they are on fire right now. Nate Oats, the coach down there. Has just done an amazing job. Unranked Bama, now ranked Bama, their number 18, the only other SEC teams that are ranked in the top 25. AP Art Tennessee and their number six and then you've got Missouri at number 19. Yeah. The Crimson tide. Had a couple of nights winds that they beat Kentucky last Tuesday night and then this past weekend, Arkansas Saturday afternoon, so big game L s U is tonight so Well, the tide continue to roll right now. They are on fire. Congratulations to coach oats down there in the players, man, This is fantastic. So we got us a program at Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Now a little bit more trouble for the Tennessee volunteers. It seems my gosh, they've really struggled over the last 10 years or so. It seems to me. And, uh, Jeremy Pruitt, head coach football team. There has been let go over the weekend. Chancellor says lots of evidence. They had a nautical conversation with A source that said, Here's what was happening. They say very credible. Haven't really said who That source is. They haven't really said much more about anything is the investigation goes on and you don't expect much While there's an impending investigation and see double a still has to do this. They're part of it. But the Tennessee chancellor said, Look, we got what there's too much for us not to make a move here. So he has been let go with caused by the way. Which if it stands prevents him from that $12 million buyout. Jeremy Pruitt has retained counsel in all of this pretty big firm. I understand. Of course, he's going to fight this and You know, there's some say, rightfully sold it. Jeremy Pruitt, you know is being kind of dragged through the mud, maybe a fall guy and all of this, um, you know, somewhere in the middle of What one side says versus the other side is the truth and through the investigation that they'll get to the bottom of this and Jeremy Pruitt. No doubt is a fantastic football coach. Um I think there was some question about whether Jeremy's contract would be renewed anyway. Even without the NC double violations as far as recruiting goes on, That's what the center of all of this is over. But I think they expected more out of Jeremy quicker and being a head football coach in the SEC. Uh, you don't get much time you start producing or moving in the right direction Consistently. Or they'll make a change. And, uh, you know, there are only so many coaches. The ticket to come in and say I'm doing it my way and nobody is going to get my way. Coach Saving is one of those guys you win. The more control you again. Um, it's tough for coaches. Now you look at the coach It has just been hired at Auburn. When they got rid of males on they went outside to find somebody different. They're they're not bringing in booster recommended people. They hired a firm the same people that have been hired by Tennessee to find their new athletic director and their new coach, Auburn hired the same firm. They look for coaches and athletic directors for major programs, I think, and I would hope that the Tennessee wants to get successful and in hiring their new A D. On their coach that they go outside the Tennessee community. The Tennessee boosters, the Tennessee family, the kind of you know. Says. What happens a lot of schools air like them. You see it A Texas you see it A lot of big programs. Boosters have a lot to say when you're writing big checks. But to move forward with somebody to get a completely different perspective makes sense to me. I don't know what's gonna happen with the rest of the staff and where they're going to move as far as the hiring process goes, But my recommendation would be, you know. You gotta move outside the program and do that, so we shall see. It's unfortunate that it ended this way for Jeremy Pruitt, but I think he's At heart, a good guy and a great coach. There's no doubt about that, and we'll land on his feet. I mean, Coaches go through this all the time. This isn't the last time. This will go on with college football in the big, powerful programs with recruiting violations and play, But Apparently, they feel strong enough that he got caught doing something should have been doing along with some staff members. And there's been what 10 people, I guess. Let go in all of this mess. Um and it is a mess. We'll keep you posted. 7 29 Alabama's morning news. Coming up traffic and weather together. Three minutes. Well obviously the big news that we've been waiting for call for a probably at least a month now and in the the question for at least the lack last week or more has been. Is jeremy <unk>. Going to get outright fired for cause or is he going to get fired with a settlement for reduced by out. I mean i. It felt like inevitable that a coaching change was coming. And we've got the answer today. That pruitt's being fired for cause. Tennessee does not intend to pay him. One cent of his twelve point six million dollar buyout also included in the four. 'cause firings <hes>. Were systems. Brian eater myron shelton felton in the termination letter to jeremy pruitt tennessee chancellor plowman outlined six four. That have occurred or are believed to have occurred within tennessee's program during pruitt's watch like so many things unpack the chancellor said. She threw her own program under the bus. And i understand the tendency to pile on but having covered many of these before as you have. That was really unprecedented address. That if you don't mind it's obvious that the chancellor is frustrated beyond frustrated with the the amount of malfeasance that i think she sees within the football program. I mean these. I think it's fair to call these sweeping violations. And what she believes they're going to be major violations. <hes> stemming from the football program <hes>. Tennessee Issues Statement on Termination of Nine Employees and Jeremy Pruitt

"Tarrant tennessee. No parting of the ways. No resignation fired. Jeremy pruitt after an internal investigation the chancellor of the university chancellor plowman earlier today the personnel actions. We are announcing. Today are an indication of the gravity of what we've discovered today. Athletic director fomer and i issued termination letters to the following assistant. Football coaches brian. Nita meyer and shelton felt also four members of our on campus football recruiting staff additionally our director and assistant director of football player personnel and finally a football analyst quality control coach. So what are what are Council has told us is it. We're looking at level one and level two violations. I don't know yet yet. Exactly how many or exactly the specifics of it the chancellor earlier today and we have the live coverage here blake top. Mayer has covered the story from the beginning and he joins us early evening from knoxville blake. Good evening thanks for being with us and before we get to specific just describe. What this day has been like in knoxville. Well obviously the big news that we've been waiting for call for a probably at least a month now and in the the question for at least the lack last week or more has been. Is jeremy Going to get outright fired for cause or is he going to get fired with a settlement for reduced by out. I mean i. It felt like inevitable that a coaching change was coming. And we've got the answer today. That pruitt's being fired for cause. Tennessee does not intend to pay him. One cent of his twelve point six million dollar buyout also included in the four. 'cause firings Were systems. Brian eater myron shelton felton in the termination letter to jeremy pruitt tennessee chancellor plowman outlined six four. 'cause provision of jeremy pruitt's contract University believe he violated and of course all stems to be ongoing investigation into sweeping recruiting if violations That have occurred or are believed to have occurred within tennessee's program during pruitt's watch like so many things unpack the chancellor said. And what she believes they're going to be major violations. stemming from the football program She she mentioned that she was stunned. By both the number of interactions and the number of people involved in the infractions. And so you know. Vols firing Pruitt with cause after investigation

"Butch jones suddenly looking better. Jeremy pruitt gone today. John joining us. These senior sports editor at aol dot com and john. It is great to have you with us. We've talked about the possibility that pruitt would be gone. He is now gone. Fulmer out as well. Your reaction another stunning day on rocky. Top back on again paul. You know. I think that the part that i guess is maybe the most surprising to me is the phil fulmer component Because as you know we talked about the past you know there's obviously been you know. Rumors swirling about tennessee. Possibly moving on from jeremy pruitt for a while. I think a lot of people in the industry thought when that first report came out that tennessee was looking into Potential recruiting violations under pruitt that was signaling that they would like to fire pruitt with 'cause a four forecast which you know they've made very clear that is what they are doing. The former component is a little different because he is such legendary person with that blake department From his time as a football coach and you saw today in that press conference just the these university leaders really going out of their way to praise him and talk about how he's at tennessee. Ledge all those different things. So i think you know fomer kind of getting pushed aside Calling it a retirement. But i think there's a little more to that is probably the most interesting component of this to me because now it means you not only have to fire new. Find a new football coach but you also have to find a new ad. Do you think john. It was the contract extension. That former gave jeremy pruitt attorney was the final tipping point for him. I would imagine it's probably a lot of different you components to it because you know hey we have to remember this. Was you know fomer higher to begin with you know as that whole crazy. Coaching search point out and former becomes. Ad then hires jeremy pruitt. I also think. I mean if you were watching that press conference today paul. You know felt like you know so. It's still in some ways defending pruitt. They're asking him about how pruitt would be remembered and he talks about how you know recruiting had been good Which is obviously ironic considering that they fired him in part because of recruiting violations and fired nine people in total also tied the recruiting department But also just the way that he was talking about how pro had rebuilt relationships and all these different things it felt like to me at least that former was not out on pruitt as a higher to that point. So you know part of it could have been simply that you feel wasn't ready to move on from pruitt and it s part became what we're gonna make just wholesale changes here and i think if you remember paul you know one of the reasons why earlier in the year before we knew about all these recruiting violations. I was always a little skeptical. Pruitt getting fired in part because it would reflect poorly on former. And i didn't think four would want to move on from his higher Like you said he just gave an extension to after only three seasons as the head coach

"I don't know how much of that is trying to go uncover some get out of jail free card. I don't know how much of that is trying to save some paychecks, but there seems to be a lot of it going on right now. It's unfortunate for Jeremy Pruitt because there have been situations that have happened like this with other schools, not just in the SEC, but all around college football. What usually happens usually hunker down. You usually get your legal team in there. The 80 gets behind the head coach and you do whatever you can to fight it. You try to minimize it, and you'd probably try to get out in front of it. I mean, we see Ellis. You hadn't dealing with anything near this right now from recruiting violations standpoint, but they're already trying to get out in front of some things so most schools would handle it that way. Tennessee seems to be handling that the opposite way. And to me, I think that there are people that have been employed there. They're working their their kids that are on scholarship there. That is unfortunate for them because this is going to drag This is not going to be something whether they decide to fire Jeremy with cause for some good reason in March or whether he got to go out to the next season. This is not going to be right for the kids that are playing football there for the next year. 234. Whatever it is, they're the ones they're gonna pay for this. And the adults that should know how to manage themselves and now have a handle. Things are not taking that into consideration. So if you're Phil former, what would you do? If you Jeremy Pruitt? What would you do? Well, I think if I was Jeremy Pruitt, I would ask me this is just me and again their details to this and that I don't understand. And I don't know. But based on what I do know, I would. I would ask for a low number. And I would say, what would it take for me to walk away? I will. I will turn my back and leave right now. But it's gonna take a check and what Tennessee is trying to do because they've got athletic department financially is in some trouble has been is they're trying to make that happen without writing any check or giving any dollars away whatsoever. So I think that's your disconnect right now. And as we know When people begin to fight over money and lawyers get involved. That's when things get ugly, murky and things tend to get drawn out. So if you're Tennessee, obviously, I mean, I understand you think you can get out of this with nothing, but is it gonna be worth it? Give me worth dragging it out. It's gonna be worth putting things into the public eye is gonna be worth the legal side of things. They're gonna take place with this. I don't know the answer to that. But it feels like no on dime Always. And I mean, I've started, you know, said this when you guys when we talked about Gus Malzahn it all burn. I'll say it with Jeremy into the sea or stay with anybody else that we talked to that fills in this situation. If you know you're going to get rid of a guy just do it. What are you waiting for? What's what's the point? Man? It's we're still going to talk about you saying that it wasn't right. We're still gonna talk about you saying they deserve better, And that's okay. That's fine. But if you know you're going to do it, just make the move. Just go. I don't know what a lot of schools are waiting on. I do think I know what Tennessee's waiting on. That again becomes where things were very unfortunate and where this thing's probably gonna get really ugly. So cute. Look at the SEC. Never great stuff by him, always joining us and Freddie and Fitz Simmons on ESPN Radio, the ESPN app and excellent channel 18. I will talk about this when it comes to Jim Harbaugh. And like, he said, he's part of the discount rack now making only apology for a million dollars a year, as opposed to the eight million he was making. After this past season. I don't have a coach must go half off. Exactly. He went from being the target to the odd job blocking that standpoint. When it comes to Jim Harbaugh, we're gonna get the Bogo, Michigan coach here. Suit one, Get one free. Oh, e don't know what kind of question's gonna ask that. I'm just gonna go to National championship Game day. Well, who do you like to know how stated an Alabama? I'm going to go Alabama because I haven't seen anybody really. So this offense down the entire season, Freddie I do know that I do believe that Ohio State will be able to move the football. I think both teams will if this Ohio State defensive line is the one that's been hit by covert, and they're down a starter or two. I think that could be very problematic. There were some issues within the previous game. You know they were down. What 11 guys. In the first game when there was no master T. You're down an offensive lineman. You're down a couple of linebackers, defensive incidents of tackles and nobody really talked about that. I think because the way they won the game, but I think that should also tell some people that Hey, there were some issues there. This thing's real. They're not making this up to try to get a quarterback healthy. I think that Alabama's offensive so balanced so difficult to defend. They can hurt you in so many different ways, And that's not even the individuals. Um, yeah, I'm going back and charge it just the two postseason games and Steve Sarkisian offered priest that movement on 9128 place and what he does by putting different players in different places and then moving them, shifting them, mostly them trading them. And the ability to get the ball anywhere on the field. After you do all those things, he's going to get you misaligned. He's going to find a match up that he likes. And the thing that was the most impressive about the Notre Dame game to me go on to the first three. Syria's of that game. And pay attention to the third person that touches the football on every play and try to locate the nearest gold helmet. When that person touches the football and out of the 1st 30 40 plays, I would say probably 25 35 of those. There was not a Notre Dame defender within 10 yards of the Alabama, the third Alabama player to touch the football sooner Quarterback in the running back, tight end or wide receiver. Start knows how to get guys in space Start knows how to get guys open. Think Ohio State's gonna have to pressure you to even try to get to Mac Jones. And if you do that you're asking for it. They don't have the dudes in the back. Nobody has the Jews in the back into cover. Tuvok to Smith one on one or makes you wanna wanna, really even Billingsley. With what he's become right now and then to be able to check down to a guy like nausea. Harris who can jump over you run through you, juke, you run around you stiff arm you I mean, there there. He has every way possible. His utility bill of ways to make you not be able to get him to the ground seems to be endless..

Matt Stinchcomb previews Vanderbilt/Tennessee and talks about Sarah Fuller

"Seems like we've talked about tennessee a few times this year and i'm really interested in your view of them and Especially you know trying to shalva season with vanderbilt tomorrow. Am the next week. The schedules obviously been rearranged a little bit. Where are they right now. Bad spot Lots of season in a game vs vanderbilt non place you want to be. If you're tennessee. Football program your rewind all the way to the beginning of the season writing that winning streak and then getting a victory vs south carolina and then going on the road and putting it on missouri. I mean running the football right down their throat to the point where i think it changed. Who missouri was defensively. Going forward made him a better football team kind of steeled their resolve not to have that happen again because tennessee almost two hundred forty seven rushing yards on them in that football game. It's been the same sense. I will have to say that most people. I think observing the program even outside of the quarterback position and the circumstances that all teams have found themselves in this year. This has been really disappointing year for tennessee football. They've got two more shots at. It is a very short handed vanderbilt. Football program could get on the field georgia. It'll be interesting to see if tennessee can put together a convincing performance versus their in state conference member i. i wouldn't even call it. A rival per se for tennessee's perspective although Tennessee vanderbilt had some success versus the balls in recent years. Easy man on talk shows to blame coaches but there is obviously more to it. But as you look at jeremy pruitt and his staff. I'm curious how you would evaluate or analyze some of the decisions especially at quarterback because a lot of people feel like jeremy was was really slow to make a change. Yeah quarterbacks been an interesting adventure for tennessee to say. The least. I mean even last time out versus the florida gators harrison bailey. Obviously getting out there and then comes out of the game briefly. Brian our goes in but then. Jt shrout finishes finishes the game. We haven't seen a lot of either one of those guys. Jt shroud got in earlier. In the season jarod guarantee no Start out rough to say the least versus kentucky and what ended up being a blowout loss at the hands of the wildcats at home. Jt shrout through pass for an interception in that one football game and then to see him late last week and had some success in two series versus the florida gators. But it's it's been kind of all over the place at the quarterback position and largely been that way for two seasons. Really paul when you think about the way. They had to manage the quarterback position last year. And i would argue masterfully. Really given where. Jerry guarantee no been mentally after the gulf called. Qb sneak versus alabama. When tennessee was still very much in that football game ends up going the other direction the idea that they were able to still salvage the back. End of that season was was really impressive from a coaching standpoint. This season the quarterback position has remained an issue to say the least and the lack of consistency and even in the past couple of weeks in harrisonburg getting his first start versus florida a week ago. It's still not a known commodity. We'll talk to tennessee later on today. We've not visited with him yet to find out what exactly can expect to get their quarterback tomorrow versus the commodores one program with a six game losing streak the other with a nine game. I mean i guess there is only. There is some light at the end of the tunnel. That one team has to win. But i mean this. This is a mess. Matt i realize this late in the year and it's a stranger at that but on the other side of vanderbilt. We all know the story pretty well. The coaching change the future unknown. Give us give us your assessment of of where they are right now with with a chance to at least be tennessee. That would that would be big. It'd be huge And it's still going to be an uphill climb. I mean you look at their roster. There's no way they've got fifty scholarship players available in this football game. They're choosing to play the game. It's admirable because vanderbilt different. I think it's well documented that they're different from any of the other member institutions southeastern eastern conference but none more so than in the area of roster roster management in a year where everyone is incredibly lean. This point in time memorable would be lean anyway. Even in regular circumstances they don't have a ton of walk on. There's not a lot of kids lining up to pay that tuition to pay full freight and have that academic rigor. Oh and by the way all week you get a practice. Football games probably never see the field and likely watch. Your teammates get beat down. It's just something that a lot of people are signing up for. They don't have a lot of bodies they don't have a lot of kids to even be able to practice. So it's admirable the vanderbilt's even able to take the field tomorrow. I'll little bit hesitant to say the least. We had them last week in a would be game vs. Georgia got cancelled at noon on friday. It does appear that this game's going to get. Its admirable just enough that the commodores are going to be able to take. The field. Looked like they were turning a corner. Looked like they were going to play better. Football down the stretch. Mississippi state had an opportunity to win. Were undone by turnovers. Still a young quarterback and true freshman kin seals but there last time out versus missouri was a discouraging performance to say the least in. It'll be interesting to see what they're able to cobble together with the personnel. They have available. And what could be their final game of the season if they're not able to get back out there versus georgia we from them. What is the sarah fuller situation for. Tomorrow's best you know as we understand it She will be kicking in football game. We think extra points. is probably the likelihood of win. We will expect to see her in the contest tomorrow but she is available for place kicking duties and it seems as if the point after attempt is the most likelihood most area of likelihood that we could see on the field of play tomorrow. You know there's so much conversation about that. And and i think most reasonable people smiled and we're happy and and celebrated it but you know we both grew up in the south and there are certainly narrow views of what happened. I'm curious just to somebody who played this game at the highest level is also reasonable your thoughts on when it happened. And what you'll see you tomorrow. Yeah you know as a father of daughters the whole thing. The more opportunities The better in that regard. I will say that circumstances in many ways. I don't wanna say forced but created the opportunity for this to have happened in credit sarah fuller for wanting to take advantage of that. I do think that you know the attention that it still garnering. The fact that things have seemingly settled down around the fact that there's a female kicker in a power five game is only help not only her ability to contribute with that football team but the team in general because as we know it is unique and can be a distinct distraction in some ways. A positive distraction but distraction nonetheless and from what we gather and it makes sense that because some time has passed. And maybe perhaps because vanderbilt didn't take the field last week vs georgia. The things have kind of settled down and interestingly and rather quickly surf or has assimilated into that football team and program not an easy thing to do late in the year But i think that speaks to some of the positive elements of this as much as anything else squib make a field goal point after was the fact that she is seemingly a member of the football team and not a novelty. I think that's really where the progress would ultimately be made the fact that so much attention has been garnered around it. That's fine for the first time but if progress is actually being made and if we're opening up our eyes and broadening our rises and just playing the best potential players in these capacities then at some point in time it shouldn't be a novelty to just be something that should be expected. We're not there yet. That's not the case but we're closer this week than we were two weeks ago when she first took the field versus missouri

Jeremy Pruitt Compares Tennessee to 'Titanic' After 2 Players Leave Team

"The biggest story of the year to date in the SEC has been in Knoxville where Tennessee inexplicably has begun. Oh into Jeremy PRUITT. You heard a minute ago at his press conference but the biggest story in Knoxville today wasn't what he said at his press conference but what he said at the UH the Knoxville quarterback club John Adams joining US longtime columnist in Knoxville Knoxville John. Thank you for being here. Let's start with the the line at the the the quarterback club where he I'll let you fill in the blanks but he made some reference to the titanic good afternoon. Call I it should be in a coaching handbook somewhere where to a message to a struggling coach never bring up the titanic because we know how that story ended in Jeremy Pruitt with speaking to the quarterback club today. I wasn't there but he compared Tennessee to the titanic but he was relating it to a couple of players. quit the team last week. neither one was a prominent player they quit the team to loss to Georgia. Stay in. He compared that to the mice on the titanic running through the top of the ship which I think is a pretty good idea if I'm about I don't want to stay down there to bottom and drown at least get up to the top and maybe jump off if the boat and freeze to death but that seems like a better ending to me but I it just shows a lack of savviness so I think you just don't want to bring up the titanic padding because when people think about that Tadic they don't think about my think about an iceberg and people dying so I thought it was really odd. I I always thought they were rats too. But what do I know the difference between mice and Rafael you say my or I say my. Can you say rat so yeah okay. I thought it was too. That's it's getting a little too. Maybe maybe Jeremy say such a student of literature he was thinking about Steinbeck and of mice and then Maybe ending either by the way because of my thing coach okay. Let's get to the real the real crux of the issue John. I didn't think you would be in the situation where you're writing columns that people are studying examining trying to figure out where we're this program is and and she is a change imminent. I ask you I mean how bad is it. Where does this program go from here well. I I mean I think this is the worst right and there's been a lot of bad times he'd go back to two thousand and eight when Tennessee lost to Wyoming in a foreign aid. UCLA team and that's he's Got Phillip. Fulmer fired his coach but but to me despite what is what all is gone on coaches haven't lost two Sun Belt Conference team Georgia's state. It's a program that's ten years old and it's picked to finish near the bottom or at the bottom some of the sun belt. East so then the follow up that with a shocking loss the nature of the Paladin folded there the end to at best a mediocre a yoke. Byu Team MANHANDLE IN THE SECOND QUARTER GETS IN THE SECOND HALF AGAINST UTAH so no. I think you're at the bottom and I think it's fans. You can't help but look ahead and you wonder how can finish C. D. C. Gay okay you expect it to be Chattanooga this week an FCS program but beyond that you start looking at thank who'll Tennessee beat and what happens if Tennessee is one in six and I think that's a a reasonable projection at this point in Tennessee is one in six. How many people are showing up for these Games aims. I just think it would be a really bad look and it would be the critical stage program with day and it starts this week. noon game against Chattanooga. I I haven't
