That was that tricky and slippery and in a word not great. Maybe two words not I think his his skill set the things he does really. Well shines even more you know and when the tracks easy to go fast on. I don't think he has such a an advantage over these guys but when it's really difficult to go fast i think he kind of rises to the top and he proved on sakamoto by with that comeback. "So i'm kinda getting frustrated on like there's too many motives were. I wish i knew more about this guy so we're just trying to get into the pits more hoping to bump into people. Because i don't know what else i'm supposed to do so i do ask if i can come in. Yeah no one's ever turned me down yet. Okay but i ended up in the hamburg sexton. I saw sexton in the door. I'm like come in and he's like i don't care so that's one okay. That's one right. Jeff came out the change boots and that was hilarious. You claim you're there for scoops. All you were doing was talking about old canadian moto changing all you were doing we got into. We got into that. I'm sure jet was giving a lot of scoops. Well along those lines. Jt jet comes comes out to put his boots on and then all everyone starts doing. Its quizzing hand on old writers. Do you know that. Someone named rick johnson raced. Do you know the zoo. Jeremy mcgrath does that a name that you're familiar with. Did you know any of them. Or how mcgrath. Which again made him. very sad. mcgrath. Yup and off trust me. Trust me if i had a gun right. Dan shot myself in the head. He said i heard of them and then he said he he said he didn't know rick johnson but he met him because of osho and then he thought he was a fan and then after..

Also the minion tires are great. So please please do that. And thank you to folks the rent. All of course the team using menthol. They've used rental for a long time. You just had to and you probably had a great experience for it because those guys doing Over in england so rental dot com for more information on that. All right let's dive into choy lee. And thanks to tyler key for setting this up and now as promised on the fly racing. Racer x podcast. The great troy troy. Thanks for doing this really appreciate the time. How are you good. Man couldn't be better now. That's awesome good to hear glad things are going well for you. What's been going on with you lately. What's happening took a sabbatical first time in forty years here in an. I'm just leaving my brother's house. In drake's idaho tom for a week and went and rode jackson hole bicycles and motorcycles for the last winter sun valley. And some other buddy over there just been seen a bunch of friends. I haven't seen in four or five years and just got my trait little trailer by me. And i got my my My motorcycle in the air. Ktm and i got a go my bike my specialize in it's been been amazing awesome. Well yeah no. That's awesome so that leads me right into my first question i had for you here. Written down was you sold some of the business. You step back a little bit from the day to day. Grind of you built this company from your garage right painting helmets. What's it been like to have a little less control than you're used doing a little less work than you're used to like. How are you adjust to that. And i mean that's every businessman's dream. But sometimes i mean literally is your name on the company. Sometimes it gets frustrating. How is it for you. Yeah i've i've got some really good partners. Matter of fact. I just finished breakfast with one of my partners up here and he lives up here too so my my my guys that i sold this to our friends and enthusiasts so that made a big step they really. They go to the races with me. A we ride bicycles together and and fish together and They're they've been really good partners and and You know they gave me a sixty two page report before they before this deal air. But it's nice. Not you know jason payroll every week you know. I've been doing that for forty years here now. Last that they've been partners for three years and to be honest with you. I couldn't ask for better partners. They're they've We've gone through you. Know hired some people and got rid of some people. But i really my whole life. I've been just trying to surround myself with with better partners whether they're you know artists and designers are there you know a better. Cpa or a better banks or you know if you align yourself with great people. I think you can accomplish. Great things. And i think that's what we're doing right now. I mean i took these partners on. Because i had some ideas out to make safer helmets and i wanted to produce more of them and our number one thing for our company and You know my forte is is putting wild colors together and build and packages and you know right to focus more than ever on the race team. And that's that's a. I never thought i'd have a race team. Never thought i'd have a to fifty factory team. A factor and be able to launch a new brand like gas and have a lot of fun with it It's a super super fortunate and can't thank the people that have help me pull this whole thing off. Can't thank enough. That's cool. Because i know a couple of guys that sold their their business. They built from the ground up and they sold it and both guys i know left early. They're like i hate that. I hate the decisions you people are making with my company. And i have no power and i'm outta here. You know what i mean. So it's certainly on sideways where people. I'm glad it's working out for you. Yeah now they these guys were going to be in for three years and they just told me. I said let's go for another three years. It's been a great thing. so cool. Cool led me a little perfect a little more. What i'm doing and And they're doing the business. So i think it's It's it's been awesome. You mentioned gas gas. And of course justin barsha winning anaheim one for you guys and you know what i was talking to. How kief about this a little lago bosch is such a perfect fit for your company. Your brand it really couldn't worked out any better. I know you you're talking to dylan a little bit and there's rumors of other guys but bam bam and you guys that's perfect. It really is a nice fit. Yeah now it's super. You know one of those guys that you know. He's just at my house a couple of weeks ago building a mini bike track at my house liga with my kids and you know we go mountain biking and even with with our relationship with sony pictures. You know. they're like man. This guy's this guy's amazing. We need to get him in hollywood. So he's he's just he's great great great for our brian. We're all about having playing hard and rates and hired. We wanna have fun too. And he's got that kind of personality you know. I've always made the joke in my columns in my podcast that your truck anaheim's is like a rave you know what i mean. It looks like everyone's having a lot of fun at these rates and then there's some racing going also i sell and that was the big thing that was the big move why we moved to gas gas. It was a little bit more playful and not quite so serious and they. You know that was really excited about the models that they're coming out with a lot more plane plane models you know for the families and the wives and the and the kids electric many bikes and sure what i saw the lineup and the e-bikes that they're working on i was like man. I want to be fired of this. This is this is a good vibe is it. Is it really fits nicely. How much are you involved in. The race team does a great job. Of course he's running for a number of years. Well haunt there now. He's he's going to do a good job. But you got roger. You've got joan robert jonas in europe. You got roger pierre at the very top. Ktm how much are at a point. Pit bar how much do you check in with those guys. Or how much do you make decisions. Day to day. And that kind of stuff i imagine when i say hey you know we were looking at justin barsha you you weigh in but how much involved are you. Get the ball rolling. Let my guys try to make the decision you know. I mean i know i talked. You know i knew this. Gas gas thing was a possibility. And when i felt that it was the right time it you know my company was to be honest with you in a little bit. Most of my partners. And i think title hotel to. He was a little panicked on this because he's worked so hard to accomplish great things with. Atm thing came up. It was i remember him. Saying god is kind of like a slug in the stomach. Here man trump. What we're doing here. I want to switch to this new brand go. There's some pieces of the puzzle..

They're not doing it if they think they're so much better now than they were in their pool so different bikes different times. Beasts from the east damon bradshaw. It got to the point where. I didn't wanna leave home and once i got to the race i wasn't into it. I wasn't going to give one hundred percent. I'm not gonna take their money working working-class hero. And that daniel blair guy filled in the regular guy had to go somewhere or kinda. Except i did a much much much much better job. That's all. yeah so. I was thinking about this. Actually my drawback. Do people have any idea that like during the supercross broadcast. We are texting daniel and then during these broadcast daniels texting me etc etc and we're like giving each other notes and criticizing and like people probably going on now probably not literally during the show. We're texting blair during super bowl. Yeah yeah yeah absolutely and vice versa. And not all of its positive uplifting texts either so no you get in each others heads. Where i'm still hanging on said slack you i'll Arrived sugata good weapon that in some way but sometimes we bring the game and sometimes i'm not the best on that day so you know you have to put on the shoulder in baylock. Didn't win today like pulpit. Like take it like. It is what it is like. Just fucking taika. you know. It sucks but you just have to learn tigers and and that's where i've got to getting older in the sport. Some young kids coming up with some guys of the same age as me. The still killing it They con- came into the sport. A bit lighter so they still kinda feel fresh to it whereas on more of an og started so young in the spot so it feels like. I'm like a veteran. Even though. I'm not ridiculously old. In the sport. If that makes sense daughter leslie all media really making imagine with trump. Parsons must be thinking of. He listens to this. Try to came into it so much light on. Probably hear my house now. He's about to turn up soon. But yeah but it's like yeah. He's my mind because he came into ladakh into best whip but then he's why oda is as old as twitch all it's like he's so it's kind of funny. It's like sorry. Sorry state if you get offended but more about them boys as well fuck. Have you pushed the yet over you at any forty on not yet. I'm close enough though. I'm late thirties. Thirty seven this year. Say he's still pretty. I'm not all index. Tom tom We're talking about age on the weekend. Told his exactly ten years older of the me not to the diaper in years twitch ten years older than me and jeremy mcgrath is twenty years older than me. Fire as easy isn't born eighty-one mcgrath. Born seventy one one. No why must be like what's that. It's tom really threes. Older to the may man. He's yeah he's looking rough for three years old of all four. He's thirty is while while he turns forty this year. So twitch turns this year in november. And tom passan's i think is lighter in the years. Well hypo done upset tomas that now he's actually with with best webs what. I was wondering. Obviously everyone's gonna ask you about winning. Best whip and blah blah blah. What i wanna know is you actually completely did down. It looks like a backflip. Are you ready to take that to a full barrel roll to have you done it. Oh now is this. "Hand off. Maybe like what you say somebody. I ride nasdaq. And they like they're like knee is at the seat. And then their legs lock pointing in there. Coca behind jeremy mcgrath. It'd be walk that because there's one kid my buddy called me from arizona. Who actually does a pretty decent. Now handed knack. It's not a massive knack but it's it's it's pretty sweet. Lucky does a pretty good job of it. He's the only person that can do it like off. What is his name. 'cause i think somebody told me about him not long ago call. What's called last time right. His from what. I can say like he does like maybe click a flips and couple of other flip. Tricks is the. I don't even know last night. I should ask him after the little. Scroll through instagram and finding might about if it's the same going i think you talking about looks like he's a different. God look forward to in the few day. Call me thirty two on the score. One that's came out to my plice lead. How to do i taught him how to do flips in the pit of seventy five. Oh he'd already down done. I mean the ps back but never never to do so. He came out the farm and Hanging out for wall and style doing flips nice. Killing is got super flips kota flips. And all that kind of stuff. So yeah he's he's a sick rata like his is pretty bad us. that's cool. Oh well then. I guess the. The rumor meals brought account. Remember who told me to keep an eye out on him. But things like the hanna. Hanna appropriated naming now. Maybe the hayes Rods with the rods on freestyle. Kings goes to sean and all that so wrong is a good good good on man. Oh well he's got a good teacher. Then because i was actually going to ask even so one hand take off with. Yeah that's another one. I wanted to find your one hand. Take off thing with your foot clicked into second year. Then on the run-up yeah come on our wit seat grab. How the hell do you do that. One and especially on a quarter part Is quarter pa either. All the whip off the off. The ramsey grabbed like basically you deceit Not obviously not cranking at lock you would if you were doing. A prophecy You like do a unlock hof Whip an-and basic. It's really awkward. Honestly it's unit that first part of like a secret when you're trying to find your The grab and saga and the box. Rotate and away from your super. We need in its lack. I dunno it's all it's all we'd like. There's a lot going on. That's how that's how that feels. Like your hands come together because you like whip the also the like. The handlebar comes zine towards your stomach so you trying to lock lean back a little bit trying to grab at the same time while it's whipped out such a pretty good one. The loss podcast. It's the most awkward part is when you wanna come back on you kinda lock. Get out so. I always doubt to grab and then you like literally just pull like i just pulled a whole body over the rot. Sodomite handle by so like literally. I could crouch monkey. Like over my handle by two said the white of the black and where i am at cardiff figures itself back out because if you if i didn't pull myself on the why did like you would almost just not. It would just not come back if that makes sense. I am but if i didn't like crafts myself over the baas and like inlet this little bowl position coming back on the body position really helps a loss pot of that trick. It's like it's a super. We'd trick to come back onto the block from. I don't know why but it's as it's really hot. Actually man looks awkward. Annoyed guys can do it. And that's why. I wanted to ask about that one. 'cause yeah you do it on the normal ramp then. I saw the colder focke. Like that wouldn't feel fun. And i used to lock do it like if you do an off the side seat. Grab off the side. Not hot so i feel like that trick. There is more squad. Do a whip seat grabbed block that they normally like whip the blackout. Lock us off the side. Ha you know what i mean. Which is which is a bit different. They contact your Pushed away from each other like you. The seat the seat to lift. And you're on what's on the throttles to the rot whereas mine actually to get up if that makes sense like why throttle hand and my secret. Panda actually locked into poland. Yeah everything like pulling in close which is different and the blocks like flat like it's like more like a flat. lana condoms. so it's like. It's a little bit different than what gaza have done in the past with secret whiskas this nali dudes don that the other stall seagrams whip where you would get like almost like turned down like a whips blackout sought wise more than flat. They lie yeah like heart attack the out. Connor exactly think sitting in my room. I'm sitting in the kitchen here. Dislike mom's

Bmx block trod on a moto and and sure enough it work. obviously it wasn't a fool. Mcgrath stall knickknack was cock a peg peg peg-leg neck back then To what was what it is today in kota here that and then he's lucky It's just came can backwards and we'll walk know why like jimmy. Carter said that to me is like knack Knickknack is cancan backwards. Oats the opposite to campaign and our denver. Really thought of it

He'd go win a contest and they give his trophy away to the crowd is awesome. It's so crazy actually. But looking at x games at your results there you have won the gold medal in step up in two thousand and three two thousand six two thousand ten and two thousand eleven you've written against the biggest the best riders ever on the motocross bike. Rony renna tommy. Clough is ricky carmichael. Jeremy mcgrath man. Yeah i mean bottom line. Came up like any other kid like idolize. These guys in the next sandow Battling against him like two thousand four was insane because they put mcgrath in there and then it came down to just him. And i for the win and my shoulders dislocate and put it back in iraq this one and twice in the contests and mad so much damn tape around my shoulder trying to keep the thing in and i'll just land flex my arm like ours. "They obviously rushed in tried to hard and kind of try to like incorporate a little bit from each game a little bit too much I know they said they try to incorporate each each game and made like the best game possible but I feel you know they. They try to incorporate the realistic aspect of of you know like reflex. But they tried to incorporate the preloading Kinda like arcade game style as far as unleashed in in untamed. A little bit but I think the mash up between the both of on just just did not work out in my opinion that all the I don't know like with the preloaded they're trying to like give a way that you could like seat bounce in in all his. What what I'm guessing the but like with the preloaded man I mean it's just just like I hate to where if you don't like phone Jonquil preloaded? There's no wayne how you're going to get that triple like it. It doesn't even make sense and it doesn't make fun to where you're up and down on the analog down upper say come on like I know I know reflex had sort of a preloaded but it wasn't obviously like is crazy is like unleashed her supercross. Ross you had to just kind of lean back to Kinda just a slate seat bow. See Wow so like if you didn't like if you case this shit out of the triple before you obviously you weren't GonNa make the triple after but in unleashed and supercross. If you case it you can kinda obviously just preloaded the shit out of it in naked and it wasn't obviously realistic at all right and we're kind of running short on time but kind of moving on from the duds list. We got an upcoming game coming monsters supercross three telling you had a chance to play the Monster Energy Cup What were your thoughts on? Some of the changes they made in Yeah just kind of give us a little brief description about the changes for this game. I liked it. I think not a lot of people really enjoyed the game play that I posted but I thought it was a pretty he good improvement. It's still has a lot of its flies and I think those things are just going to slowly have to get ironed out and we're not gonNA have reflex overhaul overnight but You know the they loosen up air physics a little bit you can now kind of just like us. The bike in air a little bit more instead of just like if you lean one direction he would bring the bike back and The ground physics seemed to be a little bit better. There's like breaking bumps coming into corners. You can lock them real rake and slide the rear end in the corners and stuff like that so just like little. It'll kind of details here that they kind of polished up from last game. I feel like The gravity of the game is a little bit better as well. It doesn't feel as connected to the ground and then floating in the air. It seems like a good mix of both There's definitely going to be problems that when it comes out people will point to and say that. There's there's room for improvement but I overall think that they've made some positive depths in some areas and maybe they stayed kind of in the same spot and others but it's progress and I'm personally just happy that we're going to have another new game to play. Absolutely one of the problems I had in the previous supercross Games Games was the planning on. PS forty even you would think it'd be more optimized for a console but you know you come into the first corner with all the writers and I you know the F.. PS drops would happen in it. Start lagging in that type thing so hopefully that that kind of takes another step in the right direction action I know I Monster Energy super-cross game it was worse than the second one. Obviously but Yeah I definitely another motocross game to play and well I'll definitely not buying it regardless so. Yeah I mean any motorcross game has a good motorcross came for sure so but yeah I mean getting a little bit away from the supercross series. What is this motocross chasing the dream I? I'd never heard of this game like I know. It's still in in production. But what is what is this actually a few guys. From the the marker Imax Simulator Community came together formed Elsa Q. Studios and they've been working on this since two thousand sixteen and I think it's literally just takes you through a full career of motocross racer. Killing the only. WanNa take the torch on this a little bit. Yeah I mean it is meant to be kind of a new simulation game if you will They are going to offer options for newer users to have kind of like an arcade similar to what symtas where there's an arcade physics in the game But the whole point of it was kind of take what they've learned from playing and him and playing a game like Amex bikes and combine the features of each. That makes it really really good. They have a facebook page on a website up that kind of details where they are with the game they haven't posted a little wild but Um Yeah the environments that they've posted so far like really good They have like Pretty good writer automations so far. It's not like Super well-polished yet. But they've done like some tests where they just like. Throw the rider at a Hay. Bale and watch like flop over it all funny and like it has like the a rag doll effect e C and some of the older games. So they're just trying to kind of capture a lot of different areas into one and make you know a really good holistic simulation feeling game that You know people can pick up and try out and see you know whether this is something that they wanna play or not. It looks promising. We're we're still looking at pretty early developments of it because they haven't fully polished anything a released gameplay that Kinda shows you exactly how everything works yet but Yeah it's it's kind of exciting to see where this one goes definitely. I believe this is going to be another PC game. I believe right just no consuls. Right as far as I know that's where they are in the development as it it's going to be a PC only release but I think as time goes on. Maybe they'll entertain the idea. Dav Constantly I met with them a little bit read. But I didn't get a chance to kind of pick their brain too much about where their direction was and where they saw the a game going when it might be released. I mean you know you look at Ms Bikes for example. That was in Beta for five years and it just got released two weeks ago so I think we're looking at a Kinda a similar timeframe for this one where they're going to be really ironing out the details and making sure that they have a pretty polished game before they release it to the PC right definitely cited to see another new game. Come Out Hopefully you know we get some updates here. Soon everybody be sure to check out elsie. Cute Elsie Q.. Studios on facebook facebook as well as our website. Ernie updates in the kind of wraps up the whole motorcross gaming episode. It was definitely a good chain. Had some fun talking about. While all the old games of the past and calendar it was a blast. Having you on again for sure that thank you guys for having me man. It's it's awesome to get down and and bench race about anything but I mean I saw soft spot for motorcross game so you guys got me really about this real quick for you. Guys have any thoughts on like future games. Because I have this. I've been having this one thought on this game. I've I've actually made a cover for and everything. Oh Shit were well. I may discover when I was like twelve but I it's called Amex life so like it's from like the start like when you're on fifties all the way up to in your pros like you race. You know like fifty fifty obviously like a Cobra fifty like lettuce and stuff and then you work your way up to like obviously like two fifty pro and then you turn pro from the reds is in like the pro ranks and then all the way up to four fifties. I think that'd be putting pretty big that student. That's kind of what else he Q.. Studios a shooting. Yeah I think it's I think it's like the full. I don't know about racing fifties but I think it's like the full Loretta experience in my my right Kellen. Yeah yeah absolutely they want to. You know that's the whole point of chasing the dream is like you start out as like nobody kid and work your way up through the ranks to get to this level where you're You know a master motocross racer supercross race or whatever. I really liked that idea like I would absolutely love that as a game. "North San Diego and continued skateboarding, but then started writing dirt bikes, you know, race damage dirt bikes when I was you know, my teenage years, but didn't actually start racing cars till I was thirty seven although I've been a fan of rallies since I was very young of never a fan of like American motor sports for some reason. Like my brother drag raced, and like all the new all that stuff existed. But as a kid, I was most interested in an informal one. But really rally like cars at slid and jumped and raced in the snow and in to Africa, and it just something I related to. Too much more than a car that just went straight or witness urkel. And I dunno disrespect to those sports. It just wasn't interesting to me. And I think that's also why loved, you know, bike so much as a teenager was they creativity of of jumping of sliding of racing around a track that all these obstacles and really rally racing was that but with a car, and so I just genuinely loved it for from since I was quite young. But I I never had an opportunity to do anything with it. Or even knew it existed in the states till I was around thirty six thirty seven Nell was that was your first exposure in terms of training at team O'neil or was it somewhere else? By I driving rally driving lesson was that team O'neil in New Hampshire and all kind of roots back to Travis Pastrana. So at the time, I was chief brand officer of DC shoes and Travis Pastrana was one of our Moto athletes and Travis in two thousand four did a couple rallies, and that just woke me up to the fact that rally even existed in the states, and that I could potentially go do it. And so travis's agent Steve asph in was a good friend of mine, and I called Stephen I said, hey, I I wanna go do that what Travis is doing. How do I do that? So Steve connected me with the team. The team said yet come out. We'll take you to a great rally school which ended up being Tim O'Neill put me through a four day course. And I was hooked like I couldn't have enjoyed myself more. And like I felt like I had a little bit of natural talent for it. I could throw the thing around exactly how I wanna knows pretty quick. But. No clues to where that would go. I just was like, hey, I really liked as foreign I need to do this more. So I I knew for the first time about your time in New Hampshire team Neil because I spent a week there for TV show short lived. But still entertaining, Tim, Ferriss experiment or went there to train and compete against a friend of mine and much like your wall on the other side of where we're sitting with all of the damaged and destroyed pieces of various vehicles there is there some some shrapnel from some of your cars up there in New Hampshire, and I found it to be such do not have. I don't think any preternatural super skill related to rally, but. Training with pendulum turns to finish flicks. And all that was just so endlessly and interesting and genuinely fun it's way to try so much really is and the science there's so much science behind it. You have people who've done it from very very young age mean there, certainly a number of countries that seem to produce a lot of champions. How thirty six thirty seven. Did you think about tackling this seriously? Well, you know at the beginning, it was just a hobby. You know, the first year I went out and funded my own racing. You know, I was just, you know, amateurs amateur gets, you know, first year out just learning the ropes at a good team. By me, had a great co-driver Alex that helped a lot. But in the beginning, it was just like, okay. Let me figure this out. Let me throw everything into it. If I'm really into this. And I really did try and learn. Learn as much as I possibly could. And luckily for me, I was already in very good shape that thirty seven years old because I loved writing riding bikes and with DC, I you know, we sponsored guys like Ricky Carmichael and Jeff Ryan Hughes. Jeremy McGrath like some of the best guys in the world. So I got to go ride with them..
