I guess that's the only job I've had that's been directly related, we probably had some federal contracts. But you know, no matter who you are unless you Donald Trump and you're independently wealthy you're looking at the calendar at payday every two weeks. Right. You wanna make sure that that money is in the Bank because we all got bills to pay. So I think it's a legitimate question to ask the congressional representatives. What they're doing about their pay because their pay is still going to be direct deposited in theory. Right. So in Virginia there are a number of legislators who have said that they are not taking their pay or different and not taking their deferring. It a deferring it going is the word ice foregoing, which means they're just not taking. Yeah. In my mind. But they might get it later. I don't think so. We follow up on that. "Time for tonight's winner. We weren't able to get to all of the winters on election night. And so our coverage of the winners will continue the Democrats passed ObamaCare in the spring of twenty ten and seven months later. They lost everything they lost the house of representatives. And they lost the Senate. Now, the Democrats have won back the house of representatives, thanks to ObamaCare, and that is a perfect lesson in the kind of patient patients you need if you want to soberly analyze the politics of governing, which is infinitely more complex than the politics of campaigning Republicans publicly warned Democrats passing ObamaCare would be a political loser for them. And they had reason to believe that it always had been Democrats suffered an historic loss in one thousand nine hundred four after pushing similar healthcare legislation championed by then first lady, Hillary Clinton, the Democrats had big margins in their majorities in the house and the Senate then and they lost. It all in the next congressional election that time the Republicans won the house of representatives for the first time in forty years forty years, and they believed that was thanks to defeating the Clinton healthcare Bill, and since then Republicans have come to believe that they're fortunes dependent tirelessly on opposing everything the Democrats say or do about healthcare, but not anymore now. Republicans believed the only way they could win is by trying to sound like Democrats. I completely believe just based on my own family's background that you should be have a right. Whether you have a pre existing condition or not to be able to get healthcare do protect folks with preexisting conditions. I am passionate about protecting people with preexisting conditions. We will always cover people like my wife with Briggs listing medical conditions. Every one of those Republicans was lying about their support for guaranteeing affordable healthcare coverage for people with preexisting conditions. But it was a lie that they felt they never needed to tell before the exit polls show, why Republicans were telling that lie. The exit polls show that among actual voters. This year healthcare was the number one issue in this election, and this time it turned in favor of the people who brought you ObamaCare the people who gave you the first legislated protections in history for people with preexisting conditions. "In addition to paychecks is technology, and there's been a bunch of talk already in the past forty eight hours about the democrat controlled house doing something when it comes to privacy regulation, potentially some sort of regulation on kind of the Facebooks of the world. Curious your thoughts on that? Do you believe a company like Facebook? There should be some sort of privacy regulations put upon them and their peers. Absolutely. This is the new world that we live in privacy protections or something that I think everybody needs to to be cognizant of and and have protected so yes, the question is how do we go about doing it? What's the best way? Are we painting with too broad brush? So I think you know, there have been a lot of discussions about doing something in that area. I think we'll finally hopefully, find some bipartisan support is there something particular when. It comes to privacy regulation you'd like to see the first thing I'd like to see is getting back to net neutrality. I think one of my concerns about the Trump administration was their abolition of the the net neutrality rules. I think that that taking away a free and open internet is a real problem for open exchange of information on the internet. And I think that that's something that we could start with one of the things you've been an advocate for is legislation on the state level against so-called. Revenge porn, do view that is something that you can push for and successfully pushed for the federal level and desert need to be at the federal level. Or does it work the states? Well, I'm not sure it needs to be at the federal level. I know that what we did at the state level. Is there had been a criminal of action? But, but there was definitely a need for there to be a civil cause of action as well. I think that any revenge porn causes of action would lie in state courts. But doing something at the federal level to put requirements on Facebook in those companies to have those protections. Would be a smart thing to do at the regulatory level. A lot of your peers or other members of incoming members of the freshman class democratic side come from districts that aren't as comically prosperous Virginia's tenth, and that's not to say that that's uniform within the district, obviously. But generally speaking, how do you bridge that gap with them and find common ground with folks who are representing communities? The generally speaking have not benefited from the reason economic boom like yours as well for those communities, and it's something that impacts, the, you know, the western reaches of my community. You know, they still care about infrastructure and transportation, and for them of for loud, those communities infrastructure includes access to high-speed broadband, which they don't have right now in which which has really impacted the ability of businesses to locate there and people to, you know, take full advantage of the economy, and and that sort of thing. So there are definitely the issues that we stand for our protecting working families. And that's something that cuts across all areas. Unreal. Of this country congresswoman elect Jennifer Weston. Thanks so much for joining us this morning. Thanks for having me. My final two right after this..

"It's simple. That's all it is. Tell me what can what do you think Democrats can say about all of this XI's had a story that House Democrats already saying that if they win back the majority, they'll start passing policies. The focus on jobs and wages like infrastructure projects, and in lowering health care costs doing democratic candidate should be running on. This should be talking about this more as they laid out that that platform. I think individual races and campaigns are gonna make their own decisions but what they talk about. But I think it's very useful to have a policy proposal to point to about how you're going to fix a problem if you're going to the problem. So for example, if you wanna talk about corruption in the need for lobbying and ethics reform to have a proactive policy about how we're going to try to fix this in the first hundred days or what have you is useful because voters want to know what you're going to do. So it's a useful messaging exercise. I don't think the things that you won or lost based on, you know, sort of Nash. Policy platform that comes out of the house or a congressional committee or whatever the hell going to be. But it was Mark. Okay. So the week after Labor Day is the traditional kickoff to the final day sprint God help us all here. Cricket media. We are going to try to do as much as we can to flip everything blue. And since we don't have time to interview all the candidates and tight races, we're gonna be highlighting some of the key races on pods America. So today we're going to start off with Jennifer Weston who's the democrat running in Virginia's tenth congressional district which is basically includes the suburbs of DC. She's running against Barbara Comstock who might be one of the most endangered House Republicans in the country. Hillary Clinton carried this district by ten points in two thousand sixteen and Ralph Northam carried by twenty points when he wanted twenty seventeen. So. Basically, Democrats will not take the house if they don't win this seat. Tommy tell us a little bit about Jennifer Weston shirt? Yeah. In another piece of context, supporter members that Trump won Connor lambs district by nearly twenty points in Pennsylvania. So if we can pick off those districts, these ones should be the most likely target. It's one of three big targets in Virginia. So a Jennifer waxen with the prosecutor in Loudon county elected the Virginia Senate in two thousand fourteen and then overwhelmingly reelected in two thousand fifteen and and has a pretty legislative record. She's been talking about Trump's moved to get rid of the individual mandate in the formal Care Act and campaign on health care. She's also been pressing congress for their change that limits number of deductions for state and local taxes that were part of the Republican tax cuts passed last year.
