Emmys 2020: Who won big at the first virtual ceremony
"Emmy's happened last night. The last couple days I want to say like through last week, there was some of the you know, technical Emmys and Creative arts Emmys and they've all been I've been seeing like the results of those, but these were the actual Actors and actresses and shows and You know the hole, but it was It was virtual, right? Yes. So every I think that they They actually put a show together to do the Emmys. Um But the other ones that I think we're just getting. I'm sure there was some kind of ceremony on zoom or something. But I don't know that those ones were televised. They might have been. No, I mean, look, I didn't I Maybe you mentioned it. Maybe I read. Maybe I didn't. It was a shock to me at whatever time nine o'clock last night when I started seeing the news roll through, and I was like Emmys. You talked about it a little remember? It was, you know, because Jimmy Kimmel was hosting and so there was some talk, but I play police. Li forgot about it and the whole thing so I didn't see one second of it. Oh, yeah, no. And, frankly, these days because of you, Khun DVR things I'd never sit and watch things in real time anyway, so Because who wants us in just to put the others on When I organize S O. The big winner last night is Schmidt's Creek. It's not the name of the show, but right The clothes. They were saying it on TV because I did see a clip after that. They were saying the word, but I don't want you don't want no trouble with you. Just don't I considered it. You know, it spells have pointed out that every time they say it, they had to put the actual words upon these people can read it with. Oh, right. You see, It's not what you think There's an extra tea and they've thrown at sea in there, okay? So I'm just gonna say Schmidt's creek because I'm with you. You know, whatever. I just guess Monday's gonna be hard enough, right? Yeah. What's our theme? We don't want to. We don't want no trouble. That's right. I keep forgetting the better. That's our theme. Well, since I should write that down here, put it up with all my little, you know, daily affirmations. So the Emmys was virtual And Schmidt's Creek swept in all this is it's actually quite amazing because it has never won an Emmy in any other season. Currently they're grand total of Emmy's up till this season when they took him all zero. It doesn't It seems to be a show that we used to have a million of them. And not that, you know. Ahh, that name in particular is obviously means that's a cable show, right? I mean, it's just It's not your Big four or whatever. But it's just a sitcom, and it's fun and it's and it's not that You could miss it, and you wouldn't care. But you could also sit down and watch four episodes on any given night and be like, Wow, that was light. It was easy is their thread that you follow along with? Yes, it's the family that has moved. Uh, I won't tell you the whole story. But yes, there's a story behind Why they're in this motel and Right off super rich. It's only that I find a just a life. Oh, poor things. Is that a Netflix show? It doesn't even say here. Oh, yeah, It's a Netflix. Yeah. So they won nine Emmys for their sixth and final season, including best comedy Siri's. It's a new record for most wins in a single season for a single comedy. Marvellous. Mrs. Mazel had had the record. They said it in 2018 with eight and then they got eight more in 2019. And I don't know if this means that Mrs Mazel was just completely shut out. Oh, end because all the comedy awards seemed to have gone to Schmidt's Creek. The cast swept the acting categories, and that's the first time a comedy Siri's has done that Eugene Levy and Catharine O'Hara won best actor and actress and Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy, one supporting actor and actress. And they're saying here that's never happened. So congratulations to them. Daniel Levy also set a record for most wins for an individual in a seat in a single season with four because he also got trophies for writing and directing and Best comedy Siri's because he's a producer. So he actually technically that four Just for himself personally. Zero m. He's heading into the night. They never had any kind of incredible. But I guess you know, with my cell dominating in the last couple of seasons would be hard for anyone to rack up any numbers. They also set a record last night at the Emmys for most wins by black actors, including Regina King and Yaya Abdul Mateen. Ah, The second for watchman. Ouzo Duba for Mrs America. And Zendaya for euphoria. She's also the youngest Emmy winner in this category. Outstanding lead actress for drama. Stop me. If you have pulled any audio for any of these things in particular, I pulled some furs and die a winning it Isa from Oakland, apparently which is why we wanted to make sure we've got her on. So here she is reacting. Yeah, it is her reacting and she says a couple of things, but just there's there's a party behind her. So I know that I just want to say thank you to the TV academy to all the other incredible women in this category. I I admire you all so much. This is, um Oh, this is pretty crazy. Didn't really crying, Okay? I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating. But I just want to see that there is hope in the young people out there. I know that our TV show doesn't always feel like a great example of that. But there is hope in the other people, and I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets. I see you. I'm are you I Thank you. And yeah, thank you so, so much. Um, this is thank you. And, of course, is through zoom. So right. Well, everyone was zooming in S O. She's the youngest any award winner for outstanding lead Actress for drama. So congratulations, Twos and Dia. And I guess I assumed that that party was happening in Oakland flatter know about that, But I do know she's she's pretty accomplished for such a young lady heard she's stars in Great America, the greatest showman Ohio. I want to say the great American hero. I don't know what she's in the great American. Ah, SOS and Dia. Congratulations to her. Eddie Murphy and Maya Rudolph one for Saturday Night Live, I guess for guest appearances and Ron Cephas Jones for this is us Eso Black actors Big night of record for most wins by black actors at the Emmys last night. The ceremony itself was obviously very different. Jimmy Kimmel hosted in an empty arena. Tried to fool us with crowd reactions from past ceremonies. Was anyone some of that? Yeah, sure. I'll watch a little of that. Oh watchmen. Also what Jerry Falwell Jr was into Flashing people appreciating and there's a flash of him in the audience. Then how much hilarious here that would mean that no one is in the audience. That would mean that I'm a lump here all alone. You'll see them. They turn the lights up. Just of course I'm here all alone. Of course. We don't have an audience. This isn't a mag a rally. It's the Emmys. Instead of a live audience. We took a page from baseball tonight and we filled the seats with cardboard cutouts of the nominees. You can see we have. Regina King, Hugh Jackman, Jason Bateman. Wait a minute. Go back one. Jason Patient, He's really hilarious. Yes, they did move. Mind your business Camel Big night for May. I know it's a big night but you can't be in here. We have very strict safety protocols. She then got in her extremely fast car lives right around the corner from there, and ah, she she made another appearance from her house later. So right? Yeah, but we're here. Oh, okay heads and there's Courtney Cox, Courtney's there. Of course I'm here. We live together. You do know there's a lag. Yeah, We've been roommates since 1994. But I don't know is it is this live TV? Both of you very well done. It's super cute. But the awkward, you know, three seconds of science, retired ruins everything before it does. We're very well acquainted with the awkward three seconds of silence, ruining everything. That is the life we're living right now. Anyway. Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox and Lisa could row whether she just jetted home after 60 ft. Away appearance on the show the awards, though, as they handed these out So I'm not sure how exactly this happened. If only the people who were actually getting the awards had people in has Matt suits outside their homes. No, it seems that Ah, they had everybody on standby like you'd have somebody in front of your house and has been with the award, but you might not win. So that way, everybody still kind of Were they holding? Just like a box. So you didn't know if there was any in it or not. Or that there were things that they were popping out of boxes, too. And that no one boxes that seemed really mean That was a really when I think, John Oliver, go when I have that mean here and you just pulled it up for you, too. Barrett. It pops open and there is it Pops open and and some confetti sprays out. Although that is right on the desk of his HBO set. Although I assume that that desk is in his garage, no, right. Cause that's where he's doing it from. So anyway. Nominees were all it remote locations, many in their own homes. Ah, they were doing the awards were delivered to those locations by people in has Matt suits, and they say someone had to be on hand for every so there was a guy hanging out in Has Matt suit whether you won or not, Some people actually took a visit. Do you have the Remmy use of dew? So this guy did not win in his category. Vinny and Ah, and there's the guy who has He's he's holding the little trophy. He's got the ones walking away having Oh, my God by you didn't win. All that's so sad, right? Well in some categories, all the nominees were given a box and then the winners boxwood Spring open and a hand holding the statue would pop out some They? Obviously a lot of people had to know that they did or didn't when I had a time. Other highlights her H e r her belt it out. Nothing compares to you. During the Emmys in Memoriam segment. Um, yeah, I don't have any questions, but I do. Look without trying to sound like I'm patting ourselves on the back because I'm not trying to do that. I give credit to anybody who's trying to do a show right now. Absolutely. It's a pain in the butt, and you'll see why they could absolutely see why they went through with it. But I could also see if they said not this year, everyone where does it go ahead? Mail you your prize and Here's the announcement work and that and the example the best example of it is that three The five second lag between the friends and less like Jesus. What is that? That's that's live. That's national TV. That's international TV right now. Well, that's you know, that's the world. We're living in pin, right? Everything sucks. The best variety sketch. Here are the 2020 Emmy Awards highlights
"So much nowadays traditional Glam, gathering of the EMMYS was shrunk down to a virtual version. This year, the winners had to dial in from their sofas but did to scale down show remove any of the fun while I'm joined by the phone critic Karen Cranach from welcome back Karen. Now, Jimmy Kimmel called this the pandemic. What was it like? You. Don't I was reading about the run up because of course, they had five days of the creative emmys, which was very interesting which covered documentarian sports things like that. We don't really get to see those its role waiting for the television ones television on comedy and they're all saying, oh, it's can be terrible to glitches and there were absolutely no. Glitches at all the writing was sensitive national it probably would have worked alive, and in fact, what they were doing is they were cutting back into the audience of previous years. So at first we thought Kimmel was presented to reluctance of couldn't be, and then of course, we see that it's an empty staple center with cardboard cutouts except one person Jason Bateman. It worked really really well, and as you said, he called the Pan Denny's. You can't have virus without a host modest M.. It. Last year it was host free. So he's making a double point there isn't he? Will he is I mean there is a discussion for all the wards shows that you know do we really need a host to carry through to give a a link King presents between all of the awards and sometimes you need that sometimes you don't, but he's very, very good in this effect was. Nominated himself didn't win but for for this year. So he solid reacted really well, and particularly with Jennifer Aniston was was there in I'm assuming was a prerecorded, extra it live. Where he's burning one of the emmy envelopes to sanitize it, and if the fire gets out of control, she actually does put put. The. Fire. Out on stage. Tell US little bit more than about. Who won who lost how things went? Arguably, this was possibly our final reminder. Some was that it was a blissful reminder of our recent past, but people could still make television in the same room. I think we're we're all I. Think we're we're going to get nostalgic about these virtual awards shows really because they could do so much more with with a with a regular live show somebody sends in a prerecorded or televisual link you feel cheated. Now you feel that you've got more possibility because the people can actually record something or talk to you live. So it Kinda works really well, for example, before I go to the awards there was almost apprentice reunion lease a Jennifer Aniston Courtney Cox and Lisa kudrow showed up altogether and Jimmy Kimmel's going what are you doing together and he goes she goes well, we've Jennifer says. We've been living together since nineteen ninety four. It was just a lovely surprised wouldn't have been able to happen in real life. So it was great now. watchmen with the big re reimagined science fiction. Series was for twenty six nominations at one eleven including UN series. Star. Regina. King and also best limited series which is amazing and that helped push the HBO show to Thirty Wins in total, which is very important and also Shits Creek, of course, we have to put little tm on there because it's spelled S. C. H. W. T. s. did a sweep a to record for comedy shows of nine wins and it was yeah it's it's incredible. It's last is the final. Season for that show and it was wonderful to see all of our beloved. Canadian actors. That was a hugely hugely popular series it turned up on flicks. But it didn't start with nets, which is weird. Yes it has found that second life. Elsa Bell Rutland. Well, it was really pop TV and it just it got a cult following because. I mean, these I've been watching Catherine O'Hara Levy since the seventies I mean they were at second city which the rivals Saturday night live we've seen them in American pie everywhere. These are very, very good season actors and writers and the fact that they show up with this unique show on pop TV it just goes to show you that if something's good against audience people will see

White House signals support for $600 jobless benefit
"Trump to his credit, and you won't get the credit. But to his credit, Trump and some of the Republican allies in the Senate signal that they want to extend temporarily. These $600 per week expanded jobless benefit in order to fill the gap between now but nobody listened. Nobody listen, They just sort of left. Democrats have so far rejected an extension to anything. And they say the next relief bill needs to move as a complete package. Do you think they'll get punished? By the way? Do you think they'll get vilified in the media? For not wanting to do any work. They passed there. What the hell did they call it? They're heroes package. Which was nothing. But ah loaded down situation with money for special interests and attempt to buy votes for the Democrats in 2020. That's all it was. It was an attempt to purchase the 2020 election with your money. By the way, That's what that was all about. Now. Republicans argue the provisions passed in March at the peak of the crisis has discouraged people from returning to work. As when Ah added to their local inflamed benefit. Some workers are taking in Mohr than they had been paid to work. There are actually people benefiting There are people doing better right now. Not working. So where is the incentive? I mean, people want to go backto work? Sure. Percentage of people do. Some people like sitting around and watching TV. Even though there's nothing on TV, my God! I have seen every friends episode Every single friends episode at least three times since this started because we got into a bad time where there's nothing out there. I mean, show something else. I got really excited. A few weeks ago, they started showing psych marathons on TV. I loved psych for a while, they were showing Xena Warrior Princess Marathon. I like that. Watch those with sound out that kind of stuff. So I like that, but for by and large on a daily basis, I think it's on TBS. The on ly thing. Toe watch that's worth watching that has any entertainment value on TV. That's on TV. That's not streaming or anything like that is friends and I have seen every episode because my daughter is obsessed. And the words, guys. You guys are so lucky. You get to watch this when it was on my God felt lucky. Um, like watching Jennifer Aniston. I'm not gonna lie anyway. Democrats note that many people don't have jobs to return Tio with unemployment hovering around 11% in June, well because the country is not opening back up. So I mean, it's not, you know, one doesn't necessarily equate to the other President Trump was willing to extend the $600 bonus for another week as a bridge, while horse trading between the two sides continued. But the Senate adjourned as he addressed reporters at the White House on Thursday evening. That was a flaw. All right, not everything. I don't care what anybody says. Not everything Republicans do is perfect. Not everything Democrats do is bad. That was a mistake. McConnell sent people home. People are going to remember that That was screwed up, and that was a mistake. There is no reason to go home. There's no reason to adjourn. Certainly not on Thursday. Well, everybody else has to work works Friday. You know has to work on Friday. They should've stayed. They should have hammered it out. That is 100% What they should have done. I don't care what anybody says. That was a mistake, and that's going to cost us in November's just the reality, Trump said. We want a temporary extension of expanded unemployment benefits. This will provide a critical bridge for Americans who have lost their jobs to the pandemic through no fault of their own. This's not anybody's fault, he said, calling on Democrats toe work with him on measures which would stop Americans from being evicted from their homes and to pass another round of direct checks, which which both sides support. You just need to agree on a on a number. Now, of course, Democrats have been married to what they call the heroes. They passed their $3 trillion heroes package. How much time do you think I've actually spent? On the actual bills for this kind of stuff. And how much time do you think has spent on the acronym Do you think they have a subcommittee that comes up with the acronyms? You think there's a group that sits around and then comes up with the thing and with the actual bill and all the money And how long after that, do you think? Do we have to wait until the sub committee comes up with the acronyms? Did you know they got they got they got to test it. It's got to be heroes. It's going to be something positive. Obama and, um, did so. Democrats passed in the House passed a three tailed trillion dollar package last month, which would extend the $600 per week federal boost to January 2021 while also allocated $175 billion for rent mortgage aid again. I don't think I need to be $600. I think that we need the rent mortgage aid, but the bit what's one thing you never hear about? Is the bill was loaded down with money for special interests in an attempt to buy votes for the Democrats in 2020. As a result, it had no chance in the Republican controlled Senate Conservatives have refused to pass a measure. Peter Ki, even eager to keep the fourth aid package to around $1 trillion. On Monday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell unveiled his own heels act. They didn't focus group that one. Heels. I know what they're trying to do, but it sounds like they're a bunch of heels. They needed to do better without one with reduced federal unemployment insurance, But the Democrats won't budge, McConnell said. Day drill redline and sand liability protection. In the next Corona legislation. Otherwise, we're going to get the courts are getting it loaded down. But under liability protection. The courts are getting it loaded down because people are going to view this was an opportunity, too. So we talked about it earlier in the show. People are going to file lawsuits all over the place because somebody some restaurant somewhere didn't require people to cover their mouth when they got something like that. I got sick when I got not shows at this place, and therefore that companies that businesses you know, insurance has to pay me $600,000 because I got covert and I was afraid and the mental anguish with diet. That kind of stuff is gonna happen, so we need liability protection. We don't need $600 every week on top of what the states are giving us. And more than anything else. Everybody on every side. Every side of the aisle needs to come together and talk and negotiate and not just hold their breath and stomp their feet and it was a big mistake to send the Senate home. Huge mistake to send the Senate home because they still have work to do.
Getting Ready for the 2020 Emmys
"The Television Academy has just unveiled the nominees for this year's edition of the Emmy Woods Nichols Fernando Augusta per checker and colossal rebelo went through the list and brought us the highlights. Let's have a listen. Pelada. Lovely to have you here. Let's talk about the AMI's but first of all, I mean, you have quite an experience with the amas right while I was very lucky last year while working out of our Los Angeles Bureau to attend the ceremony last for the seventy first. Edition of the Emmy Awards it is amazing. It really is a celebration of all things television not only of course, you're able to see the ceremony yourself and how it all unfolds that the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, you get to sit right next to some of your favorite stars as they celebrate you know a year worth of work you get to watch as some of them lose some of them when at last year was quite. Special because it was of course, the last year that game of thrones was nominated the end of the saga of game of thrones, which was, of course, a really big deal and one thing that I really liked about that was also how they marked the series that were coming to an end last year by bringing all the cast in the production team that was attending the ceremony on stage and kind of acknowledging any TV show that's on. Air for. A few years it is a bit sad one. You know the last time modern family was also the last. So it yeah, it is. It is quite an experience. I mean we are still a few months to go until this year's edition. Hopefully, we'll be able to have it in person by then by September the television academy still hasn't exactly unveiled the plans for that. But yeah, it just feels as much as it is A. Celebration of television it feels very different to watch it in person than on. TV. Sets and if he's going to be a special year because I mean we've been watching lots of television during lockdown effing and one of the things don't you grieve me. Colada that I like about the Emmys they are. You know what they are actually fairly diverse compared to the film awards and that just shows TV can be actually quite progressive away. Absolutely I think. The nominations this year as well. Reflects that diversity is well and yeah it does show how TV has been able to catch up with only momentum that has been happening in Hollywood about asking for change when it comes to diversity. But even if you look at the shows that are nominated or even just a shows that we're watching now they are reflection of different stories that are a reflection of different themes it's not as standard I would. Say, for example, with the Oscars and I think that's what makes it quite an interesting and exciting. Well, let's talk about some of the favorites I did like sheets Greek being nominated for comedy series of things surprise it started as a very little Canadian series but then apparently people saying that my win actually because the critics love it oh, it is a fantastic show I definitely has been one of the ones I've been watching this year and I was very happy to see it getting nominated for the outstanding Comedy Series Award another one on that category that it was really happy to see their it's the kaminsky methods. This is a Netflix show and yes, it is very lovely with Michael. Douglas starring in it and it is very funny as well and it was so nice to see you know it. They're in the category as well and I just I was very happy I. Think. As we were saying the nominations this year do justice to the TV. We've been watching I mean drama succession I know we're both big fans and you know Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong both be nominated for best actor in a drama series very well deserved extremely well deserved and it is, of course, we're talking here about a big categories. As if you go down the list, there are more awards being given to all the shows we've been mentioning. Not Awards, nominations I mean. But yes, I was very, very happy to see succession I think personally, it has been one of my favorite shows over the last few years I can't remember being dad excited about a show in succession was already nominated for Fiore's last year. I. Know that Nicholas Brutal do who composed the sound score for at won an emmy last year. For. For the score, he composed for succession that would be nice to see it how it's catching momentum and that fans quite disappointed that due to coronavirus sat filming restrictions. The third series did not come out this year as planned but this is a recognition of TV done very very well, there's been other recognitions for example, the morning show had quite a few nominations. And again, it was a show that it was not like loved the beginning by tics but I think people kind of were said, you know what actually was a good series especially the last episode of series. So another one I'm very happy also have very significant for apple as well as the morning show was you know the show that apple try to use as? To make its mark as someone that could compete with the network giants and streaming giants as well. So not only is a very good sign for the a seeing Jennifer Aniston Steve Carell nominated but also to see apple when they've been investing into the right series hiring great actors, great writers, Great Producers, and that it actually pays off and Collado. So what if Jimmy Kimmel? This time I mean, as you rightly said, we don't know how ceremony is going to be, but you know what bt awards they did try and they did like a special ceremony. Names might have to do that because it's happening on the twentieth September. That's very the as the television academy has said that the creative emmys, which you know the creative emmy is usually happen a few days before the Primetime Emmys and they've already said that those are happening on an online platform a few days before didn't haven't clarified yet for the AMI's themselves. We still don't know exactly what are the plans now? What is interesting about Jimmy, Kimmel here hosting I think it's his third time hosting is that he is nominated as well. His show Jimmy came alive is on the outstanding variety talk series, and there's always very endearing one. You know one of the host sometimes even people introducing the award end up being nominated. So yeah, I'd be curious to see exactly how that's going to pay out I don't know. was there any surprise nomination here on this list for you? Fernando as F- in the morning show was A bit of a surprise for me and also in the drama category I mean, we saw men hurriedly having quite a lot of nominations itself Jeremy Pope for his role in Hollywood for a best actor on limited series or movie because Lotte I think competition program should go again to Rupo's drag race. Oh Yeah. His love rapport figured they will he would win again just shows how you know when Ru Paul's drag race started. It was a very Niche not known at the public, and now they've been doing this for over a decade now, and there's just shows how you know there is an appetite for a show like that that it is mainstream, there's no way you can't say that anymore and is so empowering it is, of course, one of my personal favorites as well. It was really nice last year to be there when they won and to see Europol come on stage with a lot of the. Of the show as well and some of the judges when we look at that category I'm partial to and I would love to see them winning again on that category.
2020 Emmy Noms & Reactions
"Daily pop. It's a very big moment in Hollywood this morning. The emmy nominations were chest revealed moments ago, and we will be celebrating with some of the nominees. Though surprise, guests are coming up, so you will not want to miss it. You guys, but we got to start off with the ladies up for lead actress in Drama Series Right? The category is Stack Jen Aniston. Sandra Oh's and those are just some of the big names who is going to take the win. What do you guys think? I just think Zendaya is GonNa take you was this show that everybody was talking about? It was unbelievable and not everybody got to watch the morning show with Jennifer Aniston because. Apple TV was not readily available so I think Zendaya is going to take this I was not paying the fourteen ninety nine. GD! There was so many submissions one hundred thirty five submissions. This year for this category lost those. So things I think women I'm kind of with you. Just although ozark for me has been one of my favorite shows forever and ever and. Laura Linney could take it out that. Could get in I. could not get into. It was like I. Really Try just I couldn't do it, but that's just me. All right we gotta talk about snubs and surprises, though big little lies when pretty much everything? Last time it was nominated. But this year came up short. No Best Actress nomination, no best limited series. I'M GONNA. Ask what you guys think about. These into getting snubbed a little bit. Should've been made, I thought. Was Okay, but they should've kept it at season one. They should have just wrote it out, but you know what Merrill got nominated. Laura Linney got nominated. She is Gucci ever. Reese Witherspoon as a producer of this show. This is a win for her, so she is as though she got snubbed. She is nominated because two of our actresses were. Absolutely. Strong enough season two. Why did you like season two as much Morgan I know you were saying earlier before the show? Why you're putting me on glass. Scott, I mean maybe I didn't want to hear that I just felt like. The first season was just too hard to top to be honest. It was so good everything was everything about it was so hook line and sinker. Everyone was invested as I just feel like. They wanted to ride out that high season two was okay, but you never want to have your second season just. Just be okay I just felt like even though Merrill we all bow down to Merrill. She can handle any role. I just felt like she wasn't going to save it. And although she got nominated, she gets nominated. It's just that's just what you do. She acts that well. She deserves it all the time. I just what Jessica said I. Don't think it should have been made I think we should have just. Episodes in the second series. I love the song. The second series is still a Mike Finish shoot and I'm never finished it, so I thought.

How to Go Braless
"But, then she found boob love in a hopeless place by the mid two thousand ten's. Riana was already becoming iconic for her bra fashion statements, so when photos of her nip slips started, popping up on shares tumbler feed. She titillated so I was like this is so cool that this. Singer, she's so punk that she's not wearing a bra. That is so pumped to me I'm going to do the same. And I was going to performing arts school at the time the Brit School. So that was a school where individualism was definitely appreciated and encouraged, so I didn't have that fear of what if I get laughed at because it was a performing arts school, so you'd expect to find all kinds of characters in an environment like that, and even though I mean I never came across anybody who will come to me and be like why not wearing a Bra? But it was something where I definitely used that time to build my confidence, because walking into a canteen, full of boys and girls who have their own opinions of viewing opinions of everyone else. It really will make you forcefully build character. If you choose to do something that's quite nonconformist like not wearing a bra. Yeah? I mean I can. Especially the the first few times you did that. Were you nervous at all? Like? How are you feeling? Are you just like visit me? And deal with it. I didn't think much of it. Because I saw I saw the almost like it was like an old to the ninety s like Jimbo. Those old pictures of Jennifer Aniston in the nineteen when she was filming the first few runs, a friends, and she's not wearing raw, and it's like those of images. What what I was looking at I, kind of curated my social feed in such a way. That I was seeing images of women who went wearing a Bra. If they're outfit so for me. It was like I'm not the first ever person to do this, so it's not like I'm doing something that's. So shock horror. The feeling of choosing to not abroad was fun because it felt like a fashion statement for me, and also it was like it almost made me feel like a little bit made me feel Elizabeth more sexy equivalent. Of wearing a push up bra? Ironically, it's like not wearing a bra and having your Nipples of showing for your outfit Lou bit. In a way for me, critics the same. Impact might be to create if I were to put on a push up Bra cleavage. It's still the same concept of the something on my chest. I know you WANNA. Look at.

"Marianne okay. You're going to have to leave. Leave take her seat. Okay and so fixed ono now you can leave all right. She made it all the way here running and then falls walking. Thank you so much. I know you appreciate it. No you're welcome stellar by so that was another joke but then we got comments like this. My heart hurts for the lady who left her seat for Stella. She looked so sad. Hope she gets to go back to. She did not get to go back. Because it wasn't a real audience member. She was wearing a microphone. That would have been a tip off when someone's miked in the audience. I can't believe you thought that I would really kick someone out. I'm the one who says behind signed the end of every single show but this is a comedy show and sometimes we ask people to play characters in the audience. Sometimes I use my staff and sometimes we hire actors. One time I hired Brad had pit because he wasn't getting any work and he was struggling and I threw him Abon then he went and he just WanNa Golden Globes. I think he's back on his feet so we probably don't need to help help him anymore. But some people don't seem to understand that these are jokes that they're not real and someone showed me this. When you Google me? Here are the top questions that come up. How old is Ellen's daughter? WHO WAS ELLEN SON? Okay I'm shocked by this. This these are the first things that come years ago. We did a bit where I said that I had a daughter named rafter yellow and that was an actress playing rafter yellow. I don't have a daughter and then once I did a bit where I said I had a son on. This is not my real son. Don't have a son. That's my writer Jason. Who went to Harvard this contract? I have to say you went to Harvard every time I say his name. Here's an easy way to tell something as I say is true if I say it's true like like this is true. I you know that it's true because I said this is true except when it's it's not true and I say this is true just to be funny then saying this is true as part of the joke even though it's not true you're also GonNa WanNa Watch that because it helps to see all all the things but No no no we did. It is because you know what Andy we didn't talk about. You had a line on the show this week with a friend before before Aniston before she came in that day and said I'd love to do some work with you know she's actually never he said the words. I WANNA do some scene work. That's not it's not a it's not a turner phrase people use any way. There is a part. If you haven't seen it go back and watch it where Jennifer Aniston and I have a chat and what segment so tell us what happens when she sits she sits down and she refers to something Ellen Ellen did and said and she doesn't believe it to be true. I happen to have proof that Allen was telling the truth and so what happened was interrupted. How so how did you say it? Actually Jen. We have a tape. We have some video and then there was much more. You should watch it but there was a whole scene. There was seen in the whole scene. And make it into the show or was any of it cut I'm pretty sure it's all in there so unless it got cut I'd be upset now. Of course it's in there. She got to work with me. You don't think that's but it was. You know we we know each other socially so for her. It was. Yeah so Lon you saw her. Socially I think I saw her at guerrilla Palooza and was told not to approach her fail but yeah so yes I did. I worked with her this week on camera work. Yeah Yeah Yeah but that was really more. You Know Jen as a favored saying we will use the writers. What happened was the writers wrote that they needed someone on the stage to return and it was one of two people you were married and I want it that they you know whatever reason got it so yeah it was exciting and I think they pick you over Mary that when they pick you over Mary because they feel better chance that you're going to do something ridiculous and then my line? I actually got a lot of feedback on it going to act and I know it was just so funny. Because it's airing just today. It hasn't hasn't aired yet. I know but I'm already getting colds and people are texting you. Yeah I'm blowing up. What else we got a lot of show that there's plenty of show? We a lot of show and I got a review. Because you're sort of the business guy of the four of us on a show like that. What do we you get paid for on a regular podcast and is there extra money for us when we deliver show? I can do that math for you. I can break down released. What do we do we do? We do not get any money for the podcast and we continue to get no money. Even if we do more on the podcasts Matt Fair just wanted to make sure yeah so. We're working for free. We're working for free but we're not sure anyone's listening. We're we're sure what knows listening. We're all overpaid. But this is work work that we're doing pro bono. Oh that's this is our pro bono. Where we're doing this for the good of the really? Yeah yeah this is like a I. I'm not sure I feel overpaid. I feel I feel well paid. Yeah I feel you guys are still on an hourly hourly punch a clock all right bye default emotion when I wake up is I'm lucky to be days going to be the day. They realize yes. Comic and quote they continue describing the next photo saying quote in another photo Williams seems to be massaging Madonna shoulders while resting his head on hers. Hers a shirtless Williams later appeared on the same balcony. Smoking a cigarette and quote. I think he's cute. I did medium dive on his instagram. And he's got a picture of himself. onstage behind Madonna but no other signs of a serious relationship or anything he does this one video of himself dancing that he posted back in July that I watched maybe like ten times basically. He's dancing in an alleyway and halfway through the video like this van turns on behind him and looks like like it's GonNa drive at him but he doesn't see it anyway. The van just like waits patiently with its lights on in the background almost kind of waiting for Alamo Alec to to stop dancing and that it was kinda funny I logged according to page six Alamo alike and Madonna have been an item for a few months. Now they wrote quote. This is not the first first time mother of six. Madonna has been seen being flirty with younger Williams. She's posted backstage instagram fodder of two including a video of her celebrating her tour by grinding grinding up against him as he sipped champagne she also posted a shot of him boarding her helicopter and quote. Hey congrats on your love guys. I wish I could watch this relationship. Blossom like in maybe a reality TV format Kinda like when Mariah Carey Day deter back up dancer Bryant Tanaka and we got to see that love bloom on the beautiful but short lived reality. Show Mariah's world. They should bring back Mariah's world. It is seriously one of the best reality shows of all time basically. I only talked about this story so that I would have an excuse to bring up. MARIAH's world go watch Mariah's world this has been a public service announcement. Maria has world is good Remember Rachel from meets world. She was like in the later seasons when boy meets world took place at College. Anyway she's doing porn are now. The actress Maitland Ward has gone on this very cool self actualized sex positive journey and she just did a really long really interesting interview with the daily beast about it. The daily beast is saying she's quickly risen to the porn industry's a list after only entering the mainstream porn world. Like five months ago they wrote quote ward who is now forty two recently collected two nominations at the avian awards otherwise known as the Oscars for porn for best three way sex scene and best supporting actress. They came thanks to her. Turn in drive in ambitious erotic thriller directed by Kagan Cross that clocks in at three hours hours and twenty nine minutes. Just one minute. She eventually used her massive social media following to start a patriotic and only only fans account where she raked in some serious dough in the interview. She talks about how she made sixty two grand in just one month last year from only fans in in the interview. She talked candidly about how funny it is that people look down on her for doing porn. Now saying quote so when people say she had to turn to porn. I laugh because this is a good thing and I'm making more now. She later added quote. My husband's been supportive of me because this is something. That's in me that I need to do and that I like to do. And it's just another kind of performance and quote. I mean I love this Rachel and boy meets. World is doing porn now. And she's like feminist and cool and gushing about female L. People covered the story saying quote the morning. Show Star fifty how to tree trimming party on Saturday which was attended by star studded list of guests including reading Gwyneth. Paltrow Kate Hudson and Jimmy Kimmel as well as her ex husband. A source tells people end quote. Guess Jennifer Aniston does love a tree terming party every year. I'm going to go ahead and expose myself as not really knowing what tree trimming means. But that's not important here. What's important is that every every time Brandon Jenner in the same room? It causes the media's brain break everyone constantly assumes they're getting back together when they're within a mile of each other and that my friends is precisely what Jen Aniston Brad Pitt. Discourse is all about but don't get too excited. It seems like they're you're not getting back together. I know shocking right. According to people quote a source told people that reconciliation between Pitt and the actress was highly unlikely and quote. That felt good. I love engaging in Jennifer Aniston Brad Pitt discourse. I don't know not a celebrity more. There's nothing yeah I don't know it's like I know. We've talked about her on this podcast before well. She Co hosted that one time. Yeah but she's she's the sweetest human like she is genuinely. What you see is what you get where where you go? How can anyone be this kind of sort of sweet and cool and let's be honest? We we asked a lot of Jennifer Aniston. We like we enjoy her so much. She's so lovely and we love Yup having here that we ask a lot of her and she always always comes through and she always comes through really big she always comes and sees me too which is really does she. Yes she said. She told me that she's aware that I'm the only straight guy on this. podcast not true. I don't even even. I don't even understand what's happening today. First of all that would imply that Jen listened to the podcast slot a lot of flaws with south. Does it apply back. If you're wondering I was gone I was gone. I'm sure sure I'm sure I'm probably turned it off after thirty seconds when you weren't here But yes JEN Aniston. So yes we ask a lot of her and and she's terrific. Yeah so and and she did it she did it on this last appearance and it led to one of the greatest moments. It's probably had on the show. Sure how would you describe it. Mary what I would describe is is a couple of weeks ago. Howard Stern was here right? And Howard Stern earn challenged Ellen essentially to a kiss kiss. Well the thing about Jennifer says when she's here when you see our show you know the there's a lead guest everyday was a lead celebrity. The first celebrity on the show and that guest is generally to acts of our show. Yeah sometimes it's one if they don't WanNa game or do any business we just do one act with Emba. Generally it's to acts of the show. We had Jason Momoa on our Halloween show. He was to axe. Jennifer Aniston is pretty much the whole show and she comes like it can pull it off if if we can pull it off. We like to have her stick around. They are so comfortable with each other and they're so engaging to listen to together that it just well they've been friends for twenty years Asia and so and so that comes through and you can tell that they have a real friendship outside the show and it it. Yes absolutely are there. I don't know how many times she's been on but she was on our very first show that we ever tape to sure was. It's possible that friends was still on the air. I think it extended that one extra year our final year I think and then she was on our two thousand show in like season thirteen or fourteen with Justin timberlake. Now we're approaching three thousand shows and she. She was on last May and this October. She's just I just love her. She's just amazing. If you haven't if you haven't watched that episode that entire episode is a fantastic show audiologist. Go check it out. Here's a clip. Jin On our show this week. I had Howard Stern on the other day and you and then you did. His radio show he was in town. Yeah and I think it's I don't know if you feel this. I think it's surprising that we both liked him and her friends with him. Yes as one point we may not have been I think a Lotta people may not have been at a certain he was he was mean for a while he was a long time ago. Who's definitely that was his? That was his angle. Yeah and he's a nice guy sweetheart sweetheart really big drink. A tall sweetwater let tall sweetwater. Dark and handsome sweetwater they were. You GonNa say something else that Howard. And he tell down, and he goes to bad, and he walked out, and I threw don't fit what I came out. And I know I didn't throw fit. I came out and he'll admit this I started crying, and I went she goes I didn't throw it fit. I just stopped like an AB and I but I cried because I felt stupid and I cried and I said, I just I already felt so stupid asking you to do that. And he was like crying. And I'm like welcome to live with Caitlin. I feel like we're going to break up really. So you're gonna have to you move in just I felt so stupid because I realized in the shower how stupid that, right? No, it's not stupid though. But I said, I just think it's like a deeper thing for me and what I wanted to your mom. And I said, I think I just wanted you to know what I wanted. And you didn't. You just try to do the right thing. And I said, I already felt so stupid. I knew in the first place. Yeah. That now I feel even more stupid about it. And then, and now I'm like, I'm gonna go. So then he gets in the shower and I put towels in the dryer. And then when he got out, I said, I think you just need to experience this for yourself. And I hugged him in the talent apologize and did he love it. Yeah. He was like this. Yes, he gave me a kiss, and he was like, wait. He goes, I think I'd do need to experience this. Okay. Okay now. Oh, well, okay for first of all a couple of things. So I don't know if you know this, you ever pretty beautiful house here in Nashville, Nashville, guess he's got lots of bathrooms a few too many actually, I don't know if you know this, but you can actually get a towel warmer for your bathroom Caitlyn. Why have I never thought of that? This is have you seen him in a hotel before us. And at one in Germany, why has no one ever thought to buy me that, right? Because it seems like it's a lot of work to go full towel in the dryer and then bring it up by the bedroom. Okay. Well, then maybe it's not that much work, but you could have you can have hot towels even when you're alone, you could be a modern feminist woman who can get her God damn hot towel for ho self. Okay. I love you. And you know, changed my whole perspective going to send you a towel warmer. Honestly, someone will send you one for free, if you just Instagram about it. So just. The Jennifer Aniston, you're on it shows how easily our brains drawn new connections, and you can use it to kick. Start your memory, except now, I'm just kind of sat never got into friends. I never did either. Let's play name the friends characters name more. I've got Rachel and Phoebe. Is there a Carl? Now, wait any Zander. It's new Sander of Ross, Joey, yes. Nice thing. Ding, ding. This has been the most fun game show. We've ever played in this podcast. Well, don't worry. This science requires. No prior knowledge of the TV show friends, except knowing the Jennifer Aniston wasn't it in this whole thing comes from an accidental discovery in two thousand five a team of epilepsy. Researchers were trying to find the police in the brain were epileptic seizures originate this started to notice a strange pattern in one of their participants. Every time she saw a picture of Jennifer Aniston, a particular neuron would fire in her brain the trend showing her the words, Jennifer Aniston, and again that same neurons would fire the tried bringing up Jennifer Aniston in other ways, and every time it shot off the conclusion was inescapable for this particular individual. Anyway, there was a specific neuron tied to the concept of Jennifer Aniston. Other participants in the study had their own unique triggers for particular neurons. In one they found a particular neuron associated with Bill Clinton and in another they found one for Halle Berry and the subject's brain would react as if they recognize the person, even if the person was unrecognizable in the image. So for example, the Halle Berry part of the brain might fire off if the subject saw her in her cat woman costume as long as they knew beforehand that the actress had been unfortunate enough to win that role. This actually tells us a lot about how our brains work though, as we learn to recognize people places and things our networks of neurons. Start to store that data by developing particular patterns of activity, and it's surprisingly easy to manipulate that pattern, for example. Sometimes Jennifer Aniston neurons would light up when they saw Lisa Kudrow that implied that part of the job. The neuron was doing was making a sociation. Lisa cujo, made her think of Phoebe from friends which made her think of Rachel from friends, which made her think of Jennifer Aniston who played Rachel the biggest takeaway from this is that making us association between two concepts could be one of the most. Effective ways to kick. Start your memory, the one that comes to my mind is always thinking of a person, you already know when you meet someone new who has the same name that is my number one tried into trick for memory names. See what other associations, you can make and see how much you can

Classic beauty Queen all she's a little heavier sad. So anyway, the story is sort of about that. And Jennifer Aniston has talked about, you know, just how much it meant to her. Because her mom was basically really kinda mean to her growing up about her looks and greedy goes and her mama's model and she placed all emphasis on looks over personality, which might have been more common. I didn't get along with my stepfather at the time. Alex in Schenectady, who do you think that is? Jennifer aniston. Jennifer aniston. Do you have a on pure thoughts about Jennifer Aniston? I'm a married man of over thirty years. And if I did my wife would know about it, and I'd be a dead duck. So probably not. If you've been married over thirty years, Alex, you have your thoughts about chair railings. Thank you. Thanks very much for your call at eight eight eight six eight eight wwl relied on a Sunday night. This is sterling on Sunday, Jim in New Jersey when you win the one point six billion dollars in Powerball. What are you going to actually move from your house to your new match? I don't wanna come across this strange, but I'm not moving at all. Why is there? Why is that? Because Korean now, it doesn't mean I don't maybe get another place to travel to. But I'm staying right? Where I am. Isn't it silly? When you hear people when half a billion dollars, the first thing they usually say is, oh, I'm keeping my job. I'm like, you're not keeping your job. You may want to keep your job. But the mini you go to work in every single person you've ever met. It's you up for money. You're not keeping your job. Well, I'm not keeping my job. That's for sure. But don't continue to work. Why would I give to work? What what what I was thinking about it a million dollars cash to Shriners Philadelphia children's hospital. And. For a heart and lung center in New Jersey. That's what I. Yeah. Exactly. What else would you do what other charities? Well, I hadn't thought of many more than that. They just came to my head quick. Of course, everyone around me my each family member. My my good close friends, some of the people I've worked for in my life that kind of stuff my my my tipping ability. What goes through the roof and? Now, I haven't I haven't thought much past that I certainly would. I do some things to my home for sure. But I like Ryan. Well, I respect that. And I think where people screw up a lot when they win the the half a billion dollars one hundred million dollars is they buy crap they don't need or do anything with. They don't give back now about the Shriners about giving money to the Philadelphia Shriners. Will you make it a condition of your million dollars? Jim will you make it a condition of your million dollars? They stopped the Mummers because the Mummers must be stopped. It must be stopped. It's so disturbing. It's impossible to explain to anybody outside of Philadelphia. And why bother why should this continue? You're correct. So you have to do that either. Right. All right. So Jim from New Jersey, you have to promise me that when you win the billion dollars, and you give money to Shriners of Philadelphia that you'll make a condition a a Cottesloe like on dynasty Kostel. That says you you have to stop the Mummers parade. It must stop would you like to guess the mystery voice for a chance to win a prize announcement and Meredith slime, I'll take your shot, my family became successful. And then you add fame to that. It's that's just really fun. I mean, it was a joke between men Stephanie years ago that she was the president. I was the first lady and just kind of a lot of bits around the house. And then it was like like, this might be a movie and then and then writing for Jennifer's fun, and but we're doing that we're, we're working on a few of Elms right now. And then we're also we have a few television shows, but there are things that we're creating writing producing, but I'm not interested in in being on, you know, I think that makes sense. I mean, having having written and produced something that I was in, that's like it might be too many things for a regular schedule. Just mean like you should have, I guess. Nice to have nice to have the chance to have projects like that, but also. To just like be able to pick one or two things, not all of the things all the time. So little? Yes, maybe a little too much. Yeah. And I think you know doing films is that's I think, more manageable because there's the start and finish. Yeah, date. I just, you know, maybe I'll change my mind, but when there's been any discussion about me doing another TV show, I just I'm not interested and I, I really want to listen to that, but writing with Stephanie or. Yeah, with Stephanie is, is that her name is, is that is that is for sure her name, but writing with her is very rewarding. And she so talented, it's, it's weird and I always say she could do all of this without me, and I could not do this without her because I can't. I don't write scripts. I need somebody to partner with me so I can. Get my ideas and stuff out there and and but anyway. So that's what I'm mainly doing and I'm slowly but surely working on standup always, but I'm not. I'm also trying to listen to myself with that too. In that. It's okay if I'm not on stage every night, you know it doesn't take. I think there's a lot of like a mccown Mike, and you know, I'm in the clubs and every night and I'm sitting there and I'm having a drink with people or I'm, you know, I'm part of that world and we're, you know. I've been in the world for a long time and then it, I don't know. It's not really appealing to me to be in that every night. I mean, I, I think that that expectation was set by.
