After we identify them, I will dive into the pests that are a specific pain in my ass. Simply put I’m not going to talk about honey bees, I put them on the list of stinging insects. While I was living out in NC, a buddy of mine decided he was going to throw a big BB-Q. I was in charge making sure the yard was clear of beer cans, bottles ect… Man, those were the days days living like a phrat kid. Don’t miss them at all. I was new to NC, had just PCS’ed there from Japan. I had no idea that North Carolina was so infested with BLACK WIDOWS. Man, I picked up a old rusty smashed beer can; as I was tossing it into the bag I was holding, I noticed something on the bottom of the can. Sure enough big o fat Black Widow. I dropped that bag and screamed liked a little girl. That’s my black widow story, hope you enjoyed it. Stinging Insects Pest Control Next up on our growing list of annoying pests In Missouri is, the stinging insects. Now, as a pest I don’t see most of these on the list as a real problem. When I was a youngster my family decide to get a dog. Walley was his name, he was a great inside dog until that awful day when we discovered Walley had fleas. He didn’t just have fleas he and the house was invested with them. When I say infested, you could put your head on the hardwood floor side of the basement look at the carpeted side and just watch those little shits a jumping. Not to mention it turned a great indoor dog into a mandatory outside dog. Miss you Walley. Haven’t thought about that in a long time. My Wife’s Favorite, The Rodent Coming up next in our ever growing list of problem creatures. Are rodents, these don’t so much creep me out like the above list. But these four legged, fury, bothersome creatures effect about every neighborhood in the Saint Louis area. Rodents:a. Mice – house, meadowb. Skunk, possums. Great ways to prevent mice from entering your home. Great ways to remove skunks from your property. It was about 2130; that’s 930 p.m. for you civilians. I was chilaxing. (I I don’t know how to spell chilaxing.) When I heard a crazy banging and rummaging sound outside my front door. My dogs start going crazy. I pry myself up from the recliner, flip the porch light on and all be damned, a possum going through my trash. Well now we can’t have that, off to the pantry I go to grab myself the broom. Springing from the closet I fling open the front thinking that just noise would scare off the possum. That didn’t work. It just turned and hisssssed at me. I poked at the fury beast but the damn thing was either uber hungry or just that pissed I was trying to interrupt its free meal. I don’t know if you have ever seen one of those boogers up close but damn they UGLY! Pest Control For F@#king WoodPeckers The next group and I won’t really call this a group its really just one of the not so fine feathery friends and that would be the woodpecker. I live in a cedar home and that is like a magnet for these red-headed little assholes. Problem is I live to close to the city so killing the shits is out of the question. The woodpecker is a protected species here in Missouri. Birds:a. Woodpeckers ( Im sure there are more but where I live this one is the problem) Effective ways to remove woodpeckers from your area. It’s funny, writing this part of the post reminded me of my dad. He lived down in Liking, Missouri. Owned 40 acres down there in the middle of nowhere. I was home on leave and visiting him. I woke one morning, poured myself a cup a coffee, I seen the front door was open so I shuffled over. Peering out I see the old man, joint hanging out of his mouth as he pumps his daisy air rifle. Yep, there he was getting high taking pot shots (no pun intended.) At woodpeckers. Off the front porch. Damn, miss you Dad. Goofy ass. In Conclusion So, we covered a lot on pest control today but remember it is important to identify the issue call it by its name them set out to defeat it. First, we have the Insect family this has flies, crickets, spiders and those damn stink bugs. Then we jumped into the stinging insects, hornets, wasps, bumble bees, yellow jackets, honey bees. The blood suckers came up next, ticks, mosquitoes, fleas. Rodents came next that Included; mice, skunks and posumms. And the crem-de-le crem the Woodpecker. Really hoped this post helped. Please share with your friends and tweet too what the hell.
