"He looks physically built a mansion. He played football so can never can. Never get exactly yeah. I can't remember the last time that i watched. Espn broadcasts ahead suggs. Were actually be enough. They never mentioned on. Espn broadcast k. Play football press which is really funny but like every single suggs induce game. Oh he did you know. He played football. Like i am aware who would've thought of. Yeah exactly So i guess in in kind of wrapping up in talking about skills like the way that i really liked the you wrote everything down and and place it out is that it shows more of like talking about skills and the way that they progress. So like you of larry so you start off. Here's the base. Are you shooter. Yes all right. What's your rhythm. What's your usage and building. You know closer and closer to the top seeing what you know how you how you fall out as a shooter from there so it's kind of like a crawl walk run sprint type thing. You're seeing all right well. What is the progression year in. Looking at those skills to like you know. Talk about playmaking shooting ball handling You know. I guess they're all important in some way. But what what do you value the most. Because i have an answer. I think the answer. But i'm wondering what you got you most We're gonna have the answer. I volume value mahan By far there are others that have improved it while they're in the league but it feels like they have to put a ton of time in our enhance it. I remember watching stephen curry davidson when he started getting real blinkered graphs during his last year. I think it is his junior season. And i think he doubles assistant any turnovers. Roughly the same. Oh there's upside there right and gone into leak and it took him years before he became the twenty sixteen stuff that we know where he's just so electric off the dribble. He could get any shot. He wants and any microseconds that he could see. The basket is operatives going in so Guys who can get anywhere they want on the floor and not just a straight line drives. Hopefully they can go be a little bit shifty. Show some deception. I can fix my defender. This place can open up my land the opposite direction rates. I'm getting closer to the right. And i think i highlight a specific plan of picket role. Where if a defender goes over the top on picket role and the point of attack and that guy and then just drop big and then just mmediately do a change of direction on on the second player there at the cup. There's still defense fast enough to recover fast enough from that. And that shows me their skill level into his ball handling of evading vendors The ability to at least read the two situations where it's humid as team. The defenders that they're dealing with and how to improvise. Improvisation be once they hit the topic One of my favorite things is when they use the the out dribble on their dominant hand..

"You just have to take the bus players. And that's that's a prime example of it. Yeah i think there's a park where you can consider organizational fit in that part absolutely makes sense right different teams different medical staffs stiffer trading staffs different methods of coaching and some players adapt to those relatives. T- matters a lot better than others but when it say tier level of talent better for. There's something very clear. I think it was bobby knight who even mentioned michael jordan when he said. Oh if you need a center. More or less. Put michael jordan at syracuse. That good writes that clearly tells you the low of tier difference talent altogether. So that's that's something all teams just can't afford to miss out on it's too much investment. Yeah most definitely. And i think it's interesting too because like as much as you can. I mean there are waste. Look at things. Like one thing that i want to bring up and you've written on him and i think we both him similarly crystal art like he is a really talented player alive. People have been done on him because he's twenty four. I think that's been a little bit overrated. That's one of the things where it's interesting to me in looking at. Epa and talent and trying to parse out. Okay well yes he is like like what's say are obviously you and i were both draft. Rocco precaution over. Chris arteta without question. We are praying that he stays in the draft. I'm hoping that nothing gets announced. What we're in this pod but point being like okay. Christina is six years older than rocco but at the same time you do have to take into sock all right and one of the best things. I've had people tell me as well this guy at age. Twenty four what he brings now it. It's very possible that spoke some guy you draft who's eighteen or nineteen never even hits. Where back is that right now. And i think a lot of that has been lost in the way that we are talking about a guy like i say like I think a lot of people look at that and like all will you strictly drafting for fit. And i think in some ways. Like if you're a team like the lakers who obviously of jealousy joschka your follow them..

"You a little bit more about your background. So you know it's a little bit different for how you got in the mind In your first piece. Which was tremendous. And i'm going to have linked down below for people to check out talking about philosophy. You spoke a lot about. The pre koby lakers and i want to talk about the team for me because i think there are not enough people who recognize how much fun that team was like. I was not born yet when that team around but in going back and watching old games. Those are my favorite lakers jerseys from the mid to late nineties by far the best jerseys and there's just something awesome about getting to watch nick van. Axel eddie jones jacko added man like that was a fun fun team. They were not amazing that they struggled in the playoffs with with underachieving there. But i mean yeah so. Just tell me a little bit about how i we're getting into basketball so Just to start with a kind of thin observing the draft for roughly twenty years. And i've blame a magazine of beckett and a series of basketball cards for getting these this thing and of course it speckled buffalo A little bit of good rookie is or a little description of batum. And just completely snowballed into okay. Well what does this guy do. How is he gonna make it to the nba. Why don't all sixty players make it into the nba into second third contracts in the draft etcetera. Etcetera so i was watching out. Mid-nineties lakers basketball. At the time. It was a relief team. And i think what made it especially fun was lot of the names. I wasn't aware of at the time nick. Financial fell down to what early-to-mid second round any jones was not considered a lottery. Pick up the given time and it just seemed like little small team of misfits who were completely over. Achieving right. elden campbell was the late first. Rounder was the late first rounder. And all of a sudden we had a at least four of the five guys that i had just mentioned all of a sudden. They're touching the playoffs and then they beat the phoenix suns. At least way back when the first two games in the playoff series it was just series of five so just learning getting into blair evaluation back then how fund those teams actually were and what it actually takes actually get back to a championship level. And how hard actually. Actually get there. And i think the root of all that really starts with a drafted player evaluation. Yeah definitely and i'd be remiss. You mentioned cedric. Sabaot one of my favorite all time players Very odd game but just superfund Somebody who i think often gets lost in about the lakers. History there but You know something. We've talked about a lot and you talk about quite a bit in In your initial philosophy piece is one of the first things that you hit. Upon is the difference between drafting for fit and tracking the best player available. And i think it's interesting because we've talked about it back and forth quite a bit like i. I do think we come at a little bit differently for the most part. I think we're on the same side because you know you wanna drafting. Count is important but how did okay. So i would. I would ask. How did you get to where you're at with viewing fit and best player available in. Would you also detail. After people i think it starts with like for example knickknacks sold for whatever reason he was early to mid second round. I mean i was an adolescent back. Then and i think it was.

"Decision when he gave made call the play for toni. Kukoc back in one thousand nine hundred ninety four at the end of that playoff game but he went as far as on the dan. Patrick show to say that phil jackson was racist now. We've say we don't really buy into that. We don't know fill like that. And we admit scotty may have seen stuff that we didn't he out to us that night like all the examples he gave tony who goes play call. That's ridiculous that wasn't a racial or racists situation and any brought up. Kobe bryant and the way phil wrote the book about well that was disloyal and dirty and underhanded but i don't know if it was racist by just wrote the book because kobe was black or because most of the star players in the nba. Or black. exactly exactly so. But i i wanted to put this out there not to say fills raises or not. I've talked to a couple of the bulls players that were on those teams that black ones and they both said they've said he's not racist and those guys are all in touch robe-like fill is in touch with players in their texan. And they're talking about you. Know what's going on with scotty and all that but are couple quotes. That people are digging up about phil rob and they are worth putting out there. Considering what scottie pippen said in october we we already talked about the possi- quotes about lebron's guys. Maverick carter and rich. Paul randy mims and i bought up. Who've had racism. People fell to have racial undertones. Some didn't you didn't and i just bought up to your city hall. That's what he calls his band on right. Lay by talk show. And that was a common phrase around out of i remember. There was the movie it was a it was a western so but posse but with the black like big daddy kane remembered. I do that was. It was a western so they use the turnpike but anyway in october nineteen ninety. Nine phil jackson said this. I don't mean to say that as a snide remark toward a certain population in our society but they have limitation of their attention span. A lot of it probably due to too much rat music going in their ears and coming out there being was his co. from i don't know if he just said that rob g my no or if it was in a book but it's a quote it's been sad in written many places if it was in his book and espn reported at ninety nine. I'm i'm just curious as to where you know what i mean. We're it's from right. And then of course in two thousand five. We brought this up before but he talked about. He mentioned a dress code here here. It is when david star instituted the dress code. I think it's important that the players take their end of it. Get out of the prison. Garb and the thuggery aspect of basketball. That has come along with hip hop music in the last seven or eight years. So that's just food for thought for some people row. Music comment is ridiculous. Absolutely that's why. I was against stern in the dress. Code is well. I just was because no other sport that they'd make people do that. And the other problem. I had chris was players getting on late night planes. Who don't even in my day. When i was on commercial flights players. They wore jacket in college shirt. Do you know what. I mean that they were in the mix of the public. So i understand that you represent the team. You're walking to the airport. You're on the plane with with everyday joe's but late night when you're going straight from the arena past security chris right and onto a private jet. I don't know why you need a jacket. On and address. I really don't well now. They they've moved away from. I mean you see guys wear whatever they want now. But you're right like i mean. I covered t players during the dress code air and they would after game. They get dressed up there in a suit and tie look sharp. We're interviewing them but then they're going right to the plane. Why would they going right home. So i almost felt like mad. They get into all dress up like that to go. Sit on a plane now for four hours or three hours or whatever so but yeah i just wanted to throw those out as food for thought on the scottie. Pippen phil jackson. Front all right. "So here's how feel me. And my family moved to california What's been now about three years ago when we got here. My daughter was three. We watch lakers games at like every single night every single time we could on the east coast and once removed here every single night and i told her i would take her to a lakers game and it costs their cost me right at seven hundred dollars to get my whole family into that lakers game. Wow and and i if you added forty three hundred dollars more. You could have bought a backpack. But that's that's right. My little girl has shortly after she learned to say. Mommy daddy to say brian game and we would have been devastated head. She not been able to see. Lebron james play and and and and that's that's kind of what i think about when i think about load management and i i understand. I understand that medical needs change. I'm not a doctor. You know what i mean. I can't make those calls but the thing who had to save money for a couple of months to be able to get in the staple center and take my family. you know. it would've been devastating. Not another see lebron james klay. That'd be really good. Call point but tie let me tell you this if fans could get their money back at the box office or whatever they did if lebron in play or if kevin durant or whatever it would change everything. Do you know what i mean. If you could get a refund on your money right. I guarantee you. They wouldn't sit out again. A guarantee i went to one game. I remember one game. I lived in indianapolis for almost five years. And i believe i went to one pacers game with my father and they were playing doctor. J. and the sixers and he played and had he not play same thing as the caller said. I would've been devastating little eight nine year old boy which was the c. v. And whoever else. We're excited because we've been talking about these injuries and stuff and before we get to the nba or at least a play offs robin. I were just talking about how tonight shohei otani is in the bronx plan. The yankees pitching against them and and people wanted to see the aaron judge. A tiny matchup judge sits out for rest and we just. We're tired of it. We're tired lighting a lot of these guys. Nba bay major league baseball mainly sitting out these regular season games for rest. Are we out of line to their bodies. Just need that and we have to adapt to the new times or are are you with us. Do you see what we're talking about. I can see the frustration for sure. You know everybody wants to see the best players out on the field. Those key matchups. You wanna see. That's what drives the fans of the stadiums arenas whatever the case may be but across the board. Every sport right now is dealing with a lot of health issues linked to the unprecedent times. We've been through the last sixteen months and it's not just basketball. it's baseball. it's football All the injuries seem to be generally up and higher than usual Baseball particularly been hit hard by lower extremity soft tissue injuries hamstring. Strains are way up. You know. I haven't run. Run the numbers on things like oblique strains but those seem to be up and receiving pitcher start to have a little bit more frequent injuries of the last couple of weeks. so i. it's it's a delicate balance. You've gotta find in. You can understand where where the yankees are coming from resting judge from a simple standpoint. That they they're trying to play the long game here even though they're placing.

"I love. Let's get one drink. I wanna share with you did. Y'all share i hope is not personal. The josh share your money like was it all in one pot or was it. You had your guess uptick. I guess noah guess you had yours and she had hers. Yes you're right. Yeah but i think she never knew. How much rob really had in this. I think it's it's more challenges like an extended shop talk. We're having right yes. I think it's harder. I was married at twenty six. I think as easily do when you very very. I have nothing and i would do it. I mean that's how i was raised my parents. It was all in one pot. So i was like look. We are money going to be together. My money's yours. Your money's mind right. But i do see how if you're forty. I know you weren't forty but you know you're you're establish you know you've done your own thing. Maybe she's done her own thing. You both make him big money. I can just see how it would be more challenging to share everything. And just i agree. I think that's actually. But i can see the challenge of as you get older. I think it's harder to do because everybody has an lasting. I'm gonna say about like my wife. Wanted me to pay her like her college tuition. She went to michigan. And i was like our married like she she was greg graduated but she wanted me to like put money to help pay student loans off and i was like i didn't go to college i i'm not paying your student loans. You know what. I mean like now. I'm not paying student loans. God more we learn but if you work in magic city i will gladly pay college. College have to babies diapers to buy that now. I can see tougher as also just your lifestyle. You're used to a certain lifestyle and you know you get older. You get more set in your ways all right. That was a nice little extended shots. I just you know what we share a little bit of ourselves with. yes yes. Let's get here robin. You alluded to earlier. Shohei ohtani guy rocked i. It was a big deal. Because he's hit homers in the last two games he's three home runs in two games against the yankees right these legally why we know. He's also a great pitcher. He entered the game with what a two point. Six era ethnic or two point. Eight one of and so. I wanted to the big story in new york today. Rob is that aaron judge. Who's obviously the face of the yankees one of the faces of the league if he's healthy by but she hasn't been issue who's been playing well right and everybody in new york was like advertising it as otani versus judge and judge is not in the lineup. Today and only explanation from boo was well. He just needed a rest. Okay now it loses a little bit of its luster that oh tiny goes out there and gives up seven or runs in the first inning. Doesn't even get through the first inning. He walked four batters. Okay but still rob this. I'm tired of it. I am tired of it. I'm tired of the players. Take it on his rest. And i mainly about basketball and baseball football. You know they don't do that. I mean they play pretty much every game. Seventeen now seventeen members by right six. I mean physically. You know what is one we saw. It's hard to take off. You know what it's like every game means more because you only play so many games. But this i mean we basketball lebron sit out when they play in a big game or lebron doesn't really do it. I gotta give him credit. He does tend to play. But still you see too many guys sitting out big games for rest. And since i get it. It's one sixty two but you had to sit out this game. Why i'm i'm with who to the fans for the for the pain customer. Who wants to see that matchup and chris. The angels only come to the bronx one time and the yankees go there to anaheim one time and they do not play a series. And that's all there is. This is otani. That's why otani coming to broadway and playing yankee stadium and hitting a home runs. And then he's on the mound wednesday to see him throw and pitch. And then the yankee star is not in the lineup. We wanna see judge against otani at yankee stadium. I get it that he could face them in anaheim or whatever. They come out here if they've come out here already. I'm not even sure but my point is you rob the fans of something that we would want to see. And i think that's where sport take another night all taconite night off when they played orioles or some other team. Why does it have to be when there's a marquee key matchup and you're right. A little of the frizzell went out because otani got bombed because he was wild and gave up a couple of hits. But i still wanted that lineup. That matchup this little love. It is the principle of it because this isn't the only time this is to happen too often in sports. And what do we hear rob will. They need their rest. They you don't want to you. Don't want to overwork him or get him her. Where's the evidence that players are getting hurt less look at the nba playoffs right. Look at baseball. I mean every pitcher gets is getting hurt jake. You jacob degrom. Who's having an historic year. Yep why the only averaging six innings ah game. Where's the evidence that these guys in fact. I don't know 'cause. I don't know the numbers i don't have them in front of me rob but the feeling is that players are injured bore. Now i care basketball. Get more baseball judge and we talk about a judge giancarlo stan. They stay on. The field cannot stay on the field and we saw all these great players. Go look at the numbers. Chris and i don't want to sound like deal. Man get off my lawn since true. But but but pete rose and all. These day played every game. Chris locked they played one one fifty five out of one sixty two. That's what they play and they would get like a game or off every so often or maybe they weren't feeling good but but they played like one fifty five. We talked about it. You just you just brought up. Jacob degrom his season. I don't care what is the. Ira is chris. Na going to be better than dwight. Gooden twenty four and four with a one point five three era in sixteen complete games in a even if he goes point. Six right here. What is it ain't going to be better than that right. Khazei pitched back.

"Gary knows where we are in relation to the game where you are in relation to the game so it just thinks you up. A lot of people have been joining those really enjoying them. Great comment threads in there as well. We obviously respond to comments during the break. So this in the end was a one fifteen one seven victory for the brooklyn nets. It was not that close. It was over with four minutes left in the game but despite the fact that the nets won this we have to begin. Sadly with the injury to james art we do. And who is extremely deflating for pretty much everybody involved when it happened hardin reinjuring that same right hamstring and as jeff stotts noted. And you know that as just the experience with all this with muscle muscle. Injuries hamstring tricky. It's something you and i have said for years is what makes this so daunting. Is that re injuries. Often take a long time to. And i mean and so maybe he comes back in the series like you said and i think this is going to prove true that if somebody can't come back in that game with the muscle injury they're going to be least a week harden has already been. He missed the rest of game one. he's already been ruled out for game. Two and a hamstring strain was put that could mean anything really can and so it was basically the first possession of the game and the challenge is really like okay we. We saw that the nets one game game one. And we'll go through that until but working from here. You know the strain that this game put on kyrie irving and kevin durant. Can they do that. Six more times in this series and then plus how if they can however much they need to in the next round while the only need to do it three times to at least get out of here with a win and i could certainly see the bucks getting some blowouts in this series. But it's worth noting of course that it's not like the bucks just completely destroyed the nets in milwaukee when they played without james harden both teams. Were going pretty hard in those two games in the bucks did win both of them and they looked like the better team in those games but the nets having home court and in fact. You're winning this one pretty handily. Is there something to take away from this for the nuts. I think defensively. They had by far the best game against the box. They really yes. Six out of thirty. Three point shooting for milwaukee very reminiscent of game one against miami but obviously the nets are a better team. So that's that is going to improve three point shooting. Chris middleton six out of twenty three jrue holiday seven hundred nineteen. I think both of those guys can be a lot better than they were. So that's something that's not gonna continue. What did you see in this game. And i think. I'm gonna make the assumption that james harden his out for the series right now until further notice. I think that's that's probably a pretty fair assumption. And if he does come back his risk of reinjuring it would be really really high as depressing as that is because i was despondent when that happened on the first fucking possession of the game for for the net but what what what may brooklyn have found in this game that could continue that they can potentially rely on throughout the series. I thought they were really strong. Defensively and i mean one one way of describing that is through kind of milwaukee's offense in that second half in particular thought that that's really worth things kicked into gear. Yeah the shooting. Two out of eleven during that stretch helps but milwaukee also they got thirteen shots restrict area but there were six of eighteen from florida and they and they took to midrangers and so i thought that that was important but arguably more important than that was that the nets were defending relatively well and they. They weren't giving up a ton of free throws they gave up a fair amount. Gave up eleven during the half in total. But that's not ridiculous when you consider the physical disadvantage that the nets faced during that same stretch and like as john hollander noted. If people like the nets. I think i was in the fourth. In the fourth quarter the debts committed four thousand. The first few minutes and then the bucks still didn't didn't use the bonus until i think it was three minutes left in the game. What i wouldn't say it was for lack of trying. I we talked about this on the cast. Actually that the referee's not calling many policy nestling shot nine free throws in this game. I thought that actually played to the nets advantage because frankly as the smaller team. You're just going to have to file more right in k. d. did get five fouls Blake griffin got six. Nobody else really committed very many for them but they're just going to be in situations where whether it's boxing out whether it's protecting the rim jaanus driving to the basket they're going to be situations where there's just gonna be some borderline plays where they may be falling. And i think the fact that not many fouls were called actually played to the nets advantage in this game to play a little bit harder and freer and a big way. That assize vange can manifest itself as just getting the other team in foul trouble getting to the foul line and so fewer falls positives in general being called that game. You agree with me right. That those a a pretty loosely called games. I would pull heartedly. Particularly in the first half. I i thought And maybe even the beginning of the third quarter now so that that may not continue you know that they could get into some follow issues to be. Sure i think the thing that you gotta feel pretty good about is only giving up thirty three point attempts and only twelve in the second half only five in the third quarter and also the nets importantly cleaned up a lot. Better on the defensive glass. They had email trouble during that first. Quarter the the bucks had nine offensive rebounds in the first quarter and then they had six and the rest of the game now. You give up nine. Overall twenty-seven percent often regards. You could totally live with that. If in certain games maybe that that will be a problem if your offense is a little bit worse or but but overall i think you can. You can do that in a conservative. And i thought that they did a better job going after a bringing extra people bring extra people to the glass and some of the events players did well and i think that was the other for me. Really positive thing for brooklyn and all single out nick claxton so claxton. I thought had a rough first-half he was out physical know. A couple of plays words just wasn't wasn't strong enough and whether it was setting better screens or playing a little bit more aggressively on defense. He went from being a negative in the first after being a positive in the second half in brooklyn needs every support player to be a positive or close to it because now those guys have to do a lot more no absolutely and blake griffin was another one of those guys they. I thought they might play the andre jordan. They did not do that at all but they did. Actually go away from the switching system on any screen involving it's actually played conventional pick and roll defense and i thought did a pretty good job on him. The bucks tried to get some of those like empty side. Pick and rolls in the big generally did a good job of showing just enough to deter the drive and then getting back to janas in between the oddest and the basket and the superficially. His line was very good thirty. Four point sixteen to twenty four didn't really have the jump shot working the to five from three but didn't have the two point jump in that well But four assists five turnovers. That's not amazing for him and he just wasn't able to set up the three point shooting so they kind of your the bucks kinda beat him up on the interior and brook lopez..

"Happening very quick we go down. This at midnight instilled be out of the mix a weekly. Beg your pardon on that Joining me from seattle is kevin pelton machine. You've been very busy kevin. There have been a lot of trade grades and make up for lost time. That's true joining us. From mcmahon a joining us from mcmahon joins us from dallas. The man who carlile demanded to see. But on this podcast we definitely keep the cameras off. Tim macmahon thank you for not mentioning that. He referred to me as ugly. I appreciate that you're not an ugly man as one of my favorite quotes from my time covering the cowboys from te'o when he said i'm handsome as hell i'm hasselblad. But he believed. I ain't nobody someday. I'll tell you the story of the Of terrell owens jeff garcia and when i interviewed playboy playmate of the year about it all right. But that's neither here nor there So just stuff's happening very quickly in the league We're going to Sort of look forward here Obviously it's a devastating injury with klay thompson tearing the achilles jeff stotts who runs What's the name of his website. I want to have a correct in street clothes in street clothes who monitors all nba injuries. How far back is database belton. Well actually i have a couple more than he had he had were. yeah demarcus. he's he's his overall. Injury database is better. But i've got pretty good on a cl's achilles. So i found his three guys who had suffered both of these injuries but cousins would be the only one before demarcus cousins who had them in a short period of time. Other guys it was. It was jerome. James and emmanuel davis had that at the start of their career. They they tore their acl. And then the killings at the very end of their career but not back to back like we're seeing with klay thompson which is just i can't imagine it. So it's devastating We're going to try to move forward here so Few minutes ago Wold reported a few minutes for our time that Kelly is headed from phoenix via oklahoma city to fill their trade exception That they have. And i i will say this already did the phoenix. Okay see now. He's leaving the pink parent. No casey and heading out to the bay area Phoenix then okay. See he probably never even went to. Okay see and then To to golden state. I will say this if you're looking for a silver lining in this dark cloud it happened. Before this trade exception expired pulp was trade. Exception set to expire. Today knows on monday because it's got to be after the new league year but you can't make this trade until sunday because right now. The warriors are still hard. Capped until the league year turns over. They had basically like thirty six hours to use it or something like that. So in a way if you're looking for a some sort of light in this it's it's that they can use this trade exception What i wasn't sure about when i heard about the injury was whether they would use it. Because it's going to cost them. According to bobby marks About eighty two million dollars to trade for kelly oubre. Now they're probably going to be sending some salary out. The guess is that it's going to be kevon. Looney and possibly another first round draft pick may be their own first round draft. Pick next year I my guess is that they're going to hang on to the minnesota pick that they have But that's fourteen point. Four million of oubre salary which triggers sixty eight million in taxes for eighty two million according to bobby marks. I just wasn't sure they were gonna spend eighty two million mcmahon Uber is obviously not klay thompson. But it's a helluva of a of a of a gap filler for the season. Yeah i mean especially spending that kind of money. When they don't know win or if they'll be able to have fans in the seats this season you are you hope that come playoff time that there will be able to be fans in the seats. You obviously the warriors can make a lot of money per home. Playoff game and getting race significantly increases the odds that Not just that. They make the playoffs but they can make some sort of a run. But wow eighty two million dollars for a oregon. Say i'm gonna call him a pretty good wing at that's pretty steep Machine what is the machine. Say about how this could mitigate klay thompson the loss of it definitely helps because you know the wing rotation was looking a little bit thin without klay thompson. You know he was. He was pencilled in as a starter in the stores a position that they may be. We're going to try to address intact and Free agency using their taxpayer. Mid level exception to from that standpoint. I think you know going back to what you said at the start do warriors obvious are not fortunate that this happened but the timing of it would have been even worse if this had happened next week and the the exemption expired and they wouldn't have had as much flexibility to replace klay thompson. I i think the other interesting thing is you know we talk about how much money the warriors are gonna spend this season in terms of additional luxury taxes which will be reduced. Get some break to be determined based on how much the basketball related income league-wide fall short of the original pre pandemic projections. That was you know. Part of the agreement between the league and the players that was announced a couple of weeks ago and it was really favorable to tax pain teams like the warriors to give them a bit of a break on that bill..

"The thunder are basically five hundred team now and they're uncomfortable good. I wonder what they're going to be. Good they're good. They're trained no trade Gal Nari they. You can't make this year. Yeah I think Gallinari has got to go. He's the last year of his contract. But I mean Dennis Schreuder Interested in taking shooter. You gotTA treat them. I think you've got to trade all your all your players that you can get assets for that are helping you win right now with the except Stephen Adams to me is an exception. Because he can you know wants this thing rebuild he can still be a major part of it because of his age because because like Schreuder Gala Nora short timers. You gotta get something for him and stopped winning so many games and get get. Get Your Butts and lottery so guess who the leading score for the Oklahoma Oklahoma. Let me tell you this in just. WHO's the Oklahoma City thunder scenes? Alexandra right there you go mosa prove he's obviously one who ain't got traded. I mean he's they're they're both patty mills dock still sad about losing him quick not well but he really loves him. That's all awesome in that market. They have to be somewhat concerned about winning. Like I remember once they had made the two trades to ship Tipoff George and Westbrook except prestige wrote like an op. Ed in the in the in the daily Oklahoman like saying you know we really need your support You know so you've gotten used to great teams. We're going to be a little bit different going forward there. I mean I I think you're right. McMahon in that in the laboratory you absolutely we. Don't you try to worry about that. Draft Pick you trade this guy away but I'm telling you there's GonNa be a temptation there for them to try to to try to see if they could somehow back into it You know what. Here's a thing I think he I I am the NBA Media Mayor of Oklahoma City brick town in particular I pumped breakdown up more than anybody else in the NBA media my more. My favorite spots though pink parrot there in the quarter of a shared avenue it only holds about two hundred people people. There ain't much else to do in Oklahoma City so there'll be people the Games they have nothing better to do big riches spot though pink payroll and holds about two hundred two fifty it max and everybody else got to go to the Game Jackie. If he gets a couple more plugs he might get a couple more free drinks yes. I'm just trying to figure out what before. We got away by the way a big rich played with Tariq Abdul Hod when he was alleviate Saint John at San Jose State. Okay so it's all like you know big circle podcast. This is true story so does that make sense. Can they afford him. You know what I saw now. Jackie because Portland. Yeah and it's like he's too I think they need a ways better. Version of Carmella is Zack. Collins didn't get hurt I thought gala Nari would have made a lot of since Portland because then you know. It's a much more well rounded team. He gives them something company they wouldn't have had but I just think for Portland way too much now now now that I saw where you send him out. Yeah that was tough. But if you'RE GONNA if you're going to say if we were going to say you gotTa Move Gallinari shouldn't we you say where he's going to go. I'd just say a guy who's that good in the last year of his contract that there will be entrusted suitors. And I I do think You know you guys correct me. If you're hearing something different that I believe that Oklahoma City's willing to take back salary that goes beyond this year if there's the picks that come along with that they're I mean. Obviously Sam prestigious collecting picks left and right I just think you know they'll be where Amanda jazz pieces to trade. Because they gave up they gave up picks in the car they deal and then the only significant salaries they have are. You know they're they're they're key guys. It's Bogdonovich rich. Go Bare. Ingles you know Dob. Install his rookie deal. Obviously he's not getting traded the Conley his contracts that's it's not a an asset that people looking to today to this point right. I'm just curious I'll just say we're GONNA so about one last thing before we go. Jeff Stotts it's he is a I think he's an athletic trainer. But he runs this website This twitter feed that A monitor's MBA injuries in street clothes. And he put out a very interesting statistic. He sort of does a lot of analysis so through the first twenty games of the NBA season. The total games lost to injury are up ten percent over last year. Let me ask specifically notes that bone injuries. Yeah Okay does this Count Klay Thompson Kevin Durant you know the guys who obviously were hurt okay. That's and then the bone injuries. I Dunno deal. Yeah it isn't like how do you figure out bone that's not a wear and tear like Steph. Curry didn't break his hand because of any kind of wear and tear Abraham because of a very unfortunate fall with a very large man falling on on top of them will look analytics. People would probably step in here and say this is a small sample size. But the only thing I'm GonNa ask here is that we are in an era where we've been more tuned to dodging injuries than we ever have before And they're all time record. According to stotts was the seventeen eighteen season and he says it's on pace to equal the seventeen eighteen season this year. The all of the efforts being being attempted to slow flo injuries down. I mean at least in the small sample size. Are you know. We're not seeing results yet. We'll say bigger faster stronger. I don't know what to make you. You know bigger faster stronger. I'm I don't think ever passed a physics class but I believe that means. Collisions are more vicious. There'd be stronger tools use. It's funny you know this whole load manage argument. I happen to be with Shaq and Charles yesterday for story. I was working on and they were just scoffing at load management. Because they were saying how. It's disrespectful to all the guys that is not the one shacks not the one to make that argument. Well while we can discuss that if you care to. But the point he was making. He wasn't talking about himself. He was talking about other guys who played in and he's right in bed. Maybe it was Charles. I can't remember 'cause they're they may confuse the two when they're together. They're both so hilarious but Bad Shoes you know out outplaying outdoors play in the summer. They used to play flying commercial. No one trainer maybe knew what he was doing. Maybe he didn't you you know just the the climate then as opposed to now and yet the injuries keep increasing with all these advantages. These players have with all the state of the the art facilities and Brilliant minds that are watching over them. This the best equipment you could possibly hope for and especially the shoes you could possibly consider and yet injuries continue to happen. They're part of the game. Well the one thing about the teams are doing such Intensive work now on watching for preventative stuff like you know monitoring their players with wearable technology in practice monitoring you know oboe. This guy has had a heavy stress. Load the last four days so today. Let's give them today off You know there's a a lot of money and technology and intelligence being applied to Predictive analysis and right I mean there's no statistic mystic says what injuries have been prevented. We don't know that but It's just it's it's it's disappointing and I'm not saying I have any answer I'm just saying it's disappointing that this we're in an era right now. Where over the last couple of years? We just have incredible amount. Incredible amount of injuries. And it's really really hurting the league. It really really is. I mean there's a lot of people trying to figure out how we can be better. You know what to do about the ratings keeping the star players healthy is absolutely vital and watch Klay Thompson. The steph curry would help being able go to watch. Kevin durant would help. That's for sure. Of course absolutely absolutely. Just it's a it's a worrisome. It's a worrisome trend that the injury refuse to be getting worse not better. It's worrisome. Well again with all the technology as you say in all the advantages it. There's something there that doesn't make sense right. I can't figure yeah I I will say I think all the advantage like all the what we're talking about. I think that has helped lengthen careers. I don't have like the statistical stuff in front of me but it does seem like there's more guys who are playing deep into their thirties and you know even into the in in some cases early forties than in the past. I mean look what he's doing in in year. Seventeen of his career is just ridiculous now he was obviously the Yang. Baxter Baxter homes did that piece A series of pieces over the summer. where he he put forth the theory that allows you have the heavy play in youth basketball? A lot of games over the course here is Jerry's couldn't agree more with that piece. Living lived in on a smaller scale scale with my own kids couldn't agree more with if you guys ever did. I don't know ten. If you're girls play you but you go there and you play just a ridiculous Gillis. I'm on a games. Kids who are twelve twelve years old and you stop playing other sports. So you're not cross training which we did not do but plenty of other families. I did and I understood why because they were very good at one sport and just okay at the other and the sport they are very good at the coaches are telling him if you really focus on this perhaps you can get scholarship. Which of course is the worst thing you can say to a parent because ninety eight percents? We're not getting any money at all. And so that's a very very real thing I've seen with more and not only are they playing a ton of games but like most these tournaments. Maybe there's one or two trainers there but it's not like a big time. Travel teams teams are traveling any sort of medical personnel. They're eating like crap or even bunch of fast food. 'cause I've credentials coaches right. How about the credentials of the coaches? There's no there's no I mean there's I don't know I should find it out before I say this. But not exactly sure it's the most rigorous process in the world world it become an. AU basketball coach. You know I'd I'd be interested in a study.

"Maybe makes the team. Maybe it doesn't but he has to be. You know like nearly a point per game score actually give more effort on defense and not kelly on that end. I think for them to win a title yeah. I'd say in lebrun but they need help as well you. You need danny green and you need k._c._p._t. And these guys to contribute was one of those great summer guys because right now he looks amazing. He looks his jeans. You're talking about physically. The look is cool. I think i like the blonde look say it looks good. He couldn't pull it off the confidence offense and he's got the. I don't give a shit about what anyone thinks. Let it fly it fly here but that ship fly who's mullets those shots why we can let those oh shit slow and he played a little five to not not that it's good when he plays five but he can probably eat up some minutes but i think we're we're kinda. Shortchanging the marks because i know he came back and i have one good game in the finals but if you could get back to <hes> you know like seventy five percent of what he was he was you know had good numbers in the regular season last year but it just it just keeps things real simple now trades writing that it's lebron in eighty shoulders really just a score a pooped on they they have to do a lot and yet can be that that third guy and again. I gotta believe in coups. He's got that swagger so why not he played well at times off the ball with lebron when other guys struggle the only guy lebron yeah. That's not any didn't even he's. He's a weird like yeah yeah. He's a bucket of score but he's not like all efficient so far right his career so he needs to be better at that but back to cousins i saw jeff stotts guy that runs like in street clothes that that breaks down like analyzes all the injuries and stuff like that he couldn't find a single instance of a player rupturing both their achilles and their a._c._l. Across all sports not just n._b._a. Like you're sort of stilted in there. Maybe we've seen. Will we ever see cousins again. I would hope so but that's a lot come back from on top of the quadriceps injury. We'll see him on twitter shooting but i don't know if it'll be an n._b._a. Game he'll be he'll be rehabbing with the team. I think somebody will give him a shot but it's i think it's a fair question unfortunately and he'd lost a lot of money because of these interests all right next question here if we assume boom the top seven in the west look something like clips rockets lakers blazers nuggets jazz in warriors not necessarily in that order. "And what makes us very hard. So I like Tom Habra short wrote a great piece about this ram BC. He talked to a bunch of sports, scientists in the wake of this and. They were questioning twelve of the first fourteen minutes, seems like seems like a bad idea. I said that to Tim Bontemps before. I just said this, this is kind of what I expect it should not expect this. I didn't expect them to be running the same pin down sets for him that they normally run. I didn't expect him to bring the ball up. I didn't expect we all have I think we'll expect him to stand in the corner and stretch. The defense and make shot here and there, so all of these sports. Scientists tell Tom, that's probably a mistake. Probably one of them said inexcusable, I think, in the story, I've had sports nights is told me some of the following things. So Steve Kerr tells Rachel Nichols after the game and I saw them walking out together. That, you know, they told us that the doctors told us it couldn't get worse. Right. The injury couldn't get worse. I've obviously that was not the case, I've had a bunch of sports on to tell me, there's just no way that there must be a communication breakdown between the doctors to Steve Steve, walking out of the arena. Can you imagine his brain trying to give an articulate statement of shell shocked? Everybody should just happen given the game, given we're going to Toronto herb going back to Golden State all of the stuff like I like if there were communication breakdown, I would understand it. But all the sports onto told me, there's just no way that a team of medical specialists that included according to the warriors, Kevin Durant on hand picked separate from the team medical specialists would have would have been able to say with anything like certainty. It can't get worse. It can always get worse. A reinjuring could be a worse reader, so that I just think that was worded. Not correctly. There's, there's curiosity of there's been curiosity since it happened of the initial calf injury. Like was it a calf injury where on the calf was it? I've been told that where the strain and sometimes a strain is a partial tear, right? Where was that was a close to the achilles was far from the achilles? Maybe that matters. I've heard how much activity he was able to do before the game really matters, and the, the less, you do the more risky, it is. Because the ramp up has been so accelerated, and I've heard lots of them, tell me of course, an achilles injury is linked to what came before because all of those things are on what Jeff Stotts an injury expert in his own writing called the same kinetic chain. That's a lot of second guessing at what I will say, what, what makes this so difficult to analyze is that all of the analysis informed by what happened. So what happened happened and the conclusion is? There must have been a mistake. They must have gotten it wrong in. I'm. And I guess that is one way to look at it because this is a this is a horrible outcome. It's the worst possible outcome. Because you can actually almost say because he this happened. He shouldn't have played. I can see that. I can get there. I sympathize with that. But, but we're all we're all analyzing from the result back, Zemmiri's sense. Yeah. The it's a human reaction that if you see as you say, the worst happened, therefore some steak must have been made to allow that to happen..

"Choose to say there is nothing mental going on here. We have gotten a physical diagnosis, right? I do not believe that the Sixers do not that right? Do you believe that? Here's what I'll say in talking to people last night. I would say that. Bremen's certainly went out on a limb. I would say made a very strong statement Adrian, and I hope that he's right. I hope he's right. I think everybody hopes. He's right. I don't necessarily think everybody is confident. He's right to put it mildly and. You know, look, do I expect that six weeks from now Marquel is gonna look like the guy. I watched it Washington. Who was unbelievable? No, I don't I really hope. So I really hope dislike is the problem in its fixed. Because I thought he was a helluva player in college and just as a human being I would like them to be passed whatever it is is. But I mean, it's it's not I don't think anybody could rationally look at the situation. Say aha, this is solved that this is going to fix it. And in six weeks things are going to be fine. So I spent part of the morning talking to what I would call a source familiar with the situation. It's been out in the open. Now that full seen over the summer. I believe so over the summer before this latest right of specialists saw ten I think is the number. I believe of specialists, and nobody found this problem. And now he saw another round before somebody found this problem, the appearance needs and not even just the appearance, but the appearance is that none of these doctors found. Anything? Structurally wrong in it's been communicated to me by these sources that that's essentially what this diagnosis one source put it as it is a diagnosis of exclusion. Meaning if Marquel Foltz reports that he's experiencing pain in this region in a number of doctors cannot find any structural reason why he should be experiencing pain in this region. This is the diagnosis you default. Right, right. I just don't know what else to do with. I just don't know. Honestly at this point. I don't know what to do with the story entirely and Jeff Stotts who runs in street clothes in salute must injury. Yup. Said it's it's common among baseball pitchers. Which makes sense. He said is the first basketball player that he's aware of that has ever been diagnosed with this. Yeah. And the sources of also made clear he has no nerve damage. The word damage has been throwing around and people within the team are are pushing back saying note do not say he has nerve damage. There is no evidence of nerve damage. And the other thing is he's been medically cleared to play by the Sixers up till yesterday. Right. And only yesterday when the diagnosis came out did the Sixers say okay now, he's not gonna play for a while. Definitely not going to play for a while. Yep. Because this doctor whoever it is said that he recommends rest in rehabilitation of physical therapy. Right. And we are going to acquiesce to that. Right. I don't think the Sixers would have ever. I don't think the Sixers absent this diagnosis would have declared him medically unfit to play. I think you'd still be medically cleared right now if it were up to them. Yeah. I would probably agree. And I think for the Sixers this kind of solves the problem anyway. Right. Because I was at the game. I mean, I I was at the six I was with the Sixers before and after the Jimmy trade in the new gig. And you know, I was at the game with Markelle double pump the free throw in Miami. After the game. I talked to Brett brat. You know, talked about the Marquel situation with me, you know, once again, reiterated his support for him as a person, and the one thing I will say Philly a lot of credit with a guy like this number one pack was supposed to be a huge part of the team. It would have been really easy to crush this guy. Publicly at some point in the last year and a half and to a man the entire organization is not done that they love him this as a great which I mean, it's it's it's like almost cult-like you talked to everybody there. They say the same thing out. Great a kitty is he's an awesome guy with them. And I give them a lot of credit for that..

"But if he takes two or three of them as opposed to eighteen footers. That's benefit even though he's probably not going to be very good at them. You know, let's benefit it is. Let's move onto what in many of these fun. But in all, actually before we do predictions, which do what are the key questions that you expect to see answered and you wanna see into the season expect to see a little bit different, but the one that I wanna see like single most important question for this year and the future of the franchise is when will crafts get healthy? What does that player look like? When he comes back? Can he stay healthy long-term? And is the left side of his body, fix all of his lower body injuries have been on the left side of his body. I wrote about this when he was rookie when he had a series of minor injuries on the left side of his body. I talked to him about it. He said he wasn't concerned about it yet because they had all been minor injuries, and I talked to Jeff Stotts who owns the, you know, the great injury, blog industry clothes, and he said, well, yeah, it's not that big concern because they've all been minor, but there's clearly something wrong with the Connecticut chain here. And you know a major injury could becoming. Two years later it they absolutely need to fix whatever is going on body and hope that he can then stay healthy over the long term. To me, that is the single biggest question. And if that doesn't happen really not much else matters because he is the future of the team and is a major important part of it. No matter who they sign next summer, whether they signed somebody like, let's be honest, he's gonna get a max contracts of whether it's the side to give it to him during this era. They do it next summer while maintaining a little bit more Couchbase was lower capital. Like he's obviously incredibly important. Other questions like what is Kevin Knox was the three levels scoring that he showed during summer league real, how how much of it is real and what's the best way to use him, not just position wise, but in terms of, you know, schematically how to use him as a basketball player on offense. Like, should he have the volunteer running off screens that Roennemaa screens at tone at Kentucky, some of that work, some that didn't does. He have a post game at all in one of the best ways to maximize. His offense of skill set and what should be guarding and then is Frank a point guard and or a starter that's pretty important. I if if he's a passable point guard, I think that's the best case scenario for them because that allows you to get a little bit more shooting and size on the court at the same time because he's six, five guard either position and you can put another shoot or next to end that is not small. And then obviously disorder than you did not take bench player with the number nine pick in the draft. So that's two. And then just generally like ordway and Lee being dumped for cap space, which we now next summer. And if so, how are you -ccomplish that, yeah, along those lines, I fully agree with all the earlier stuff, but where are the Knicks that that trio of Lee, Noah in Hardaway not only what do they do this year, but are they in position where they have to use assets, unload one, two or all three of those guys? I think that's gonna be really important. And I mean, it might just be very difficult. Never functionally impossible because that's not the way the NBA worse, but ticket to if they get the double max guys like there, there are some worst-case scenarios where it takes something to move off. Basically, all those guys. I don't expect to be the case, but it's possible. And Frank is a really good point and with Mitchell Robinson, I think that you know with with his recent history, it obviously he's stepped into being if he shows starter potential or star potential..

"Work to do here and the big question could be how much is read it gonna take to where they can fill in iran him and then you know doesn't make sense the stay over they got they would have their be available as well so they got resources to fill and even if they keep riddick they could bring back johnson and then they would have the full emily and the be the only for one year probably a because they wanna keep cap space over the next year to fill in it back up to back up for you know they still got tlc hopefully you can maybe take force your but i'm not counting on him also noteworthy that justin anderson had surgery and gotta she end to deal with some system issue there let's talk about the lakers now and the lebron chase nothing happening yet i mean it's still looking like lakers or cavs kobe altmann called lebron and rich paul james has flown from the caribbean to la but he has a home there of course others talk that some lebron's camp wanting to consider the sixers i mean but you know there seems to be a little momentum for that also a note that lakers spurs talks are not really active right now and again for the spurs you know presumably this moment before lebron sign is the time that you have most leverage to extract deal from la but obviously for la getting in theory we clinched that you're going to get lebron as well so they might be enticed to offer more so there seems like more minute for deal but despite that now james supposedly wants to make a decision before july fourth doesn't seem like we're in any kind of momentum towards the deal at this point but that of course can change quickly and once the lakers get lebron they can kind of hang out and make their trade for quite whenever they want to certainly the spurs if they get to the trade deadline with them and there's also the news that may be if or not the news but the factor that if kawhi comes back and kind of proves that he's healthy become a little bit more enticing to trade for i'm still not sure with that possibly degenerative condition even if he looks to be healthy now like what they could do that would assure me that hawaii is going to be the same guy and that he's going to remain healthy demarcus cousins also got calls on the lakers and the pelican certainly the idea of cousins on a big one year deal with the lakers to join lebron is an interesting one lebron called in the best big man and the game lebron never my favorite evaluator of those of course before the achilles hair as well and then the lakers in clearing some space have moved or on from tyler who was nine guaranteed they also wave thomas brolin six days before his july fifth guaranteed he actually dominated g league last year also guy who if they had guaranteed him could have been matching salary in a trade i think they're probably just doing him a favor because he probably was going to be in the plan they did guarantee of each zoo botch however and then even bigger news for the lakers lonzo ball deterministic he's going to have surgery a per shawmut i don't know when it was that he suffered this jeff stotts speculated that a meniscus can often be incidental to a an mc l injury which he had and then remember he had that bone bruise that happened later he ended up sitting sitting down he tried to rehab it apparently there's lavar ball's comments about how he's doing all this like worc band work with the celebrity trainer that the lakers have gunnar peterson and how he needed to pump some real iron and we've seen some photos of lonzo looking lot more jack and now he's going to have this meniscus surgery because apparently just hasn't responded where they wanted so the loss of or not for lonzo ball he's got a lot of school work to do obviously and then you never wanna have a surgery this early in your career he missed half the year base last year with injuries while just not looking good right now for lonzo ball and i'd be very concerned as laker fan right now i hope he's got his guy i like watching and i hope he can get his jumper to where it needs to be.

"A microchips disconnecting in the area between his l three and his l four vertebrae and so there's a great piece by jeff stotts if you if you want to go through this and basically that is we don't know all the details but that relates to a herniated or bulging disc and the good news for porter relative to other people who have gone through this surgery is that his higher on the back which apparently is better for recovery so like dwight howard had this surgery but it was lower on his back tiger woods had it out if you want to read the scary stories of carson dissect you can because there are a lot of players who had never never got back the same in various sports but he's younger and it's higher and so the hope is that that that will make it better but i mean alleged having a lost year in college and it's a weird circumstance for the two of us because we actually saw him play more at the nike hoop summit in two thousand seventeen then he played in his entire career mizzou because really only played in two games in smidge and those two games were not exactly encouraging no i also wanna talk about what he looked like in those games me it wasn't close to the same player and four this discussion i want to say that you're not going to say he's going to be the exact same guy going forward a player like him scotty pippin head back surgery a couple of times as well in nineteen eighty eight in in nineteen ninety eight but i think this is something that probably will affect his career at some point in the future not necessarily that he's gonna look bad right now but that you know he might have some recurrence of the issues you know if that's ten years down the line how much of a discount you take for that i don't know that it's that much but certainly when he came back he said basically i wasn't going to be the same mike that everyone was used to when i came back i was just trying to help the team of because we only had six scholarship players available but you know i mean he couldn't jump at all you know even just like catching a pass coming down the lane for fast br.

"Um the the scary part is just the back because you get so many different reports on this at this point in the year right like his doctor came out and said that there's like a onein10 chance he will have a recurrence of this back injury in the future you'll get past nba players jeff stotts who runs in street clothes says that seventy five percent of players who have lower back injuries similar to michael porters microdiscs to me have some sort of recurrence in terms of back issues grosso that part of it is scary because there such a big middle ground there you know wh do you what do you believe who do you trust and not being on the inside i don't really have a great deal for that yet we'll see he he's a he's an incredible player when he's healthy i i would love to see him play in the nba for twenty years if he can draw i do cut a wonder like like just if the back injury is a back injury not ends up not being a big deal which would have crazy census ahead life like him the back injury it's not being a big deal how foolish does all this look jeremy wright like like his if you guaranteed me going into the season he's healthy and he's fine like i do think he'd be running away with this in a loaded top of the class yeah i think he'd be like very clearly in that top three right like he he would be something i like for me for instance like i of the andrei lukanov rich like one to like a little bit have everyone else he'd be in that class year if you still healthy i've no questions in my mind about that but we don't know we just don't know that's the problem sam convince americans that they can trust luca bench.

"Start with the update on gordon hayward he in fact did have surgery and it appears likely per his agent mark burrows in that he will miss the endorses it certainly disappointing but it's also not surprising and so yeah it was a dislocation of the of the ankle along with a break at the a book heading to jeff stotts distill end of the tibia and so you should read stotts his piece because he talks about the differences between that and this was in the preliminary stages of the reporting an paul george's injury which was instructive for me because that was kind of what i thought of first and so the differences between those two and yet the expectation as you said is that he'll be out for the year and something at denver val noted is that the nba's insurance will allow the celtics to recoup about forty percent of the money it's going to pay word he's still gets every cent but it's just insurance that pays out to the celtics so they'll get about eleven point four million off of that salary which not coincidentally why it is it is a little bit goods it only is about the amount of of this able player exception so even though they're not going to push into the tax you know it it is up a slight benefit it's it's a silver lining on what is an immense dr club yet is and couple of things to note here with that ankle dislocation the last player to have such an injury is shabak randolph he suffered it in practice lows ecorse course described as pretty gruesome and basically me if you didn't see the play i didn't see it i saw for the raptors basically like his ankle was pointed at a neat 90 degree angle to the left of where it should have been so stealthily allotted trauma the ligaments there is withing that's.
