"And some of it is justified. Some of it's not. But if you're going to bash Sweeney for he can't draft, he can't draft. And then immediately say, well, I want to trade the kid that he just drafted, you know, for somebody else. Like, don't bash the draft and then say, I don't want Fabian Liz, I'll get him out of here. We got to at least see what we have here. So I just think that Bo horvath, the price is going to be so high and I'm not really looking to sort of disrupt the whole future quite yet. What are your thoughts on some of the rumors that they've had been involved with your mark? Last night, Elliot Friedman and Jeff Merrick were on the panel at sportsnet and both of them said that the price would be three. Roster players and one top end prospects. I'm not sure if the bruins have the asset to get a deal like this done at all. And I would honestly pass. Just for the fact is that, you know, we might not have to pay such a heavy price for somebody that could come in and possibly give us the same amount, you know? I have a couple of players involved. And one of the reasons why I think about these players is just the fact is that they have an extra year of term. So the cost might be not equal to a whole bar of that, but you still have a year under contract. So I really like and if the Boston bureau ones are looking at centers to do it, we increase the depth up the middle and really go for it. I really like alias alias lindholm from Calgary. He's a center right wing, he's at 28 years old. He's making 4.8 million right now. He's a UFA after next season. So you have a whole year to negotiate with him. But the best part about it is if the Boston Bruins don't get a deal done. If they don't get the cop down this year, you have a player like this in the mix for next season. Bo horvat in my opinion, I don't know him. I don't know his character, personality, whatever. But sometimes in the NHL, a player like Bo horvat gets all pumped up and ready to go to the best team in the NHL. That's really a wagon and possibly going to win a Stanley Cup. But if that goal is not accomplished, that player might not be happy and now he's a rental. Now you gave up assets for somebody you can not resign and wants to test the market to find a place where he can win. That's a scary thought when you're thinking about it. And the price to pay. If he can come here with term and you could work out a pasta pass the neck extension, I'm forward, but I still think that the price to pay is just a little too much. Number one for a Boston Bruins prospect pool that desperately needs to be replenished.

"Or not the player asks for a trade, they're going to want a boatload to get them back because he's got that leverage, those three years, extra time. That's all leverage to another team. Oh yeah, for sure. For sure. But I also don't want to give up players or picks. For rentals either. And pretty much, that's like a comic Lindbergh freaking situation. You know? Or even the unrealistic idea of Patrick Kane? That is purely a rental thing for you to want to get going. Let's touch on Patrick cage, shall we? Shall we? Yeah, let's do it. I don't believe that he is going to be traded. This is his last year, but he is going through somewhat of an injury and per Elliott freed man a couple times on the 32 thoughts the podcast with Jeff Merrick. It's been rumored that they want to shut him down. Oh, it signed him to an extra year. To stay with the Blackhawks, shut him down, have the surgery, come back next season healthy, and then there's a little bit of term, like a year that the Chicago Blackhawks management can throw to another organization, a competitor, and say, hey, if you want him, he's healthy now. He's got a little bit of term. You can deal with. I think if you want to get pat Kane, you wait until it's cheaper price next season. Yeah, 'cause he's last year of his $10 million contract, right? So Chicago would have to eat a significant amount of cap for a team to acquire him unless you're like Anaheim who's like Anaheim's not competing this year, so yeah, but that's also cam, that's also a real money. You gotta think that AAV does not change. Right. Right. You know, you might get a cap. You might get a little bit of abatement because we're halfway into the season. So his actual money is going to go down to basically nothing, but the AAV doesn't change, which is sad. Yeah. What are your thoughts on Jonathan taze? Patrick Kane's teammate in Chicago. Do you think also same situation he's got ten, one year, $10 million left?

"Michael Bay movie, it makes no sense Evan. And in it and the handcuffed themselves for this off season. That's the best part. That is another part of it where you've screwed yourself. And I'll read this. NHL watcher on Twitter transcribes some Elliott Friedman, Jeff Merrick. Podcast, I believe. We're a Friedman says, you know who was a guy. I think he was on the bruins radar. Vinnie Trojan. And then Merrick replies, see, I was gonna say nascent kadri and Friedman says, well, there's another one. So they aren't, they are not rebuilding. I don't think they're rebuilding. And again, you go off ownership's history, where they're at, currently, like they aren't rebuilding. And by the way, we'll get into what I think we'll probably do an episode coming up where we explain what the bruins should do. My plan is not that. My plan is very different. I think you know my plan. And I hate my plan, by the way, I hate it. But I think it's you will contend for a cup quicker. But they're not, they're not going to do that. They're going to try to run it back. They're going to go out and somehow do capture gymnastics to sign Vinny trochek or nazem kadri. And kadri kind of makes some sense, but I just don't know what the direction of the team is. That's the frustrating part, is like, again, is kadri coming in and being your number one center? I don't know, news flash guys, you know how good that 2023 NHL draft is going to be with all those centers. I mean, come on. So again, but going back to Cassidy with the younger players, it doesn't make a lot of sense. And again, if you are going to try and run it back, uh, does Rick talk it put you in a better position to do that? Going off what we know he does not does Peter deboer does tortorella does any of those guys who were experienced NHL coaches. Now if you want to get into like Nate Lehman and David Quinn and Greg carville or whatever. That could be different. Maybe that's more of a rebuild. I can tell you Lehman and carville probably I can basically tell you carvel's not. Lehman probably won't be either. I hate to burst the bubble there. But you know, I mean, again, the direction, it goes back to that. There's no direction. And you know, if you're trying to run it back, why the hell would you pick anybody other than Cassidy? I just, it doesn't make any sense to me. Especially if you're trying to retool on the fly and get guys like kadri. Cassie's got you have to max out this current window you have here. So again, if you go into an bergeron's not back and you're just signing guys and plugging in holes and trying to tread water, you're just delaying the inevitable. It's not worth it in that case in terms of what's the best step moving forward. All you're going to do is have bruins fans go into the season discouraged because they probably know they're not cup contenders like you don't know what you're going to get from March.

"You gotta take that down. I can't be up there. And then they get pantsed, which Trojan got the best of Martian. Not just on the scoreboard, but also really solid hitting the neutral zone. Tough night for one Brad marchand on that one. That was awesome. And he also doubled down on Twitter. On Wednesday, respect that. Yes. You know what? What's that like that old tweet that always gets brought back up where it's like, no, I'm not getting dunked on is it's like someone being dunked on on Twitter. This is one of those trudges right ahead. You have to respect them for it. Yeah, it's like people who fight char, right? It just hang in there, you take it, you just keep going. You can't help but respect it. But he said something about escrow. The reason that they pay 20% extra on excess. So yeah, it's quite the extravagant chirp right before pre game thing going on. But I mentioned this before that online read. Tough night for the D so it comes back to, you know, we've talked about this a bit. We're kind of debating, right? Should they get a two C or should they get a top four defenseman? And there's nights like Tuesday where you say, wait a second. This team really needs a defenseman. Do you think they go the route of a top four defenses, which would take a lot or do they go with a depth guy that could kind of solidify the third pair or something? Yeah, I think that's the challenge in terms of like you can't get a two C and a top four guy together. I think it all comes down to the price, like is acquiring a rental like hurdle, which even then it's going to cost a lot because it also has just been on a heater for like a month now. Is getting a rental like that plus like a solid third pairing guy and the answer is supposed to like going all in for like Jacob chick ran, right? Well, last time I checked, I think I just saw this Jeff Merrick said what a potential deal for him would be. And if it was Florida, you're looking at Spencer night, Anton lindell, and a first round pick. Oh. Yeah, so for bruins fans who think that you can get him for the brush back and I and a first no, no..

"All right. Don't forget Elliott Friedman going to join us at 11 o'clock. We look forward to chatting with him, and we'll have some coach discussion to how much of the, um Pause on Don Granato was due to Rod the bod if they were waiting to see if they could Get their hands on him, but I think he might sign an extension. That sound right, Craig? Yep. Ron, Are you listening? No. So I said, Um one player. Oh, I pulled up his his scouting report. Wanted to read it to you, Craig. Because, you know, we're talking Anaheim Ladies and gentlemen, there's speculation and rumors and rumblings and Anaheim is the team to watch Elliott Friedman on his podcast last week with Jeff Merrick said, Or maybe it was this week. Said, Um, look for Anaheim to do something big Look for the Sabres to possibly get another high first round pick in this year's draft. So Those two teams are those two things. Uh, because Anaheim has number three pick makes sense. But now there's rumblings about Anaheim. And it's heating up so Said. There's one player I'd like to get in the deal. But that's not a deal breaker. But I'd like to get him if we're adding pieces to slot in, and I don't think Anaheim is going to Kick and scream if you ask for him. But let me read you scouting report. Tell me if you think this is something we might be interested in. Has great size goalscoring prowess and the ability to utilize his big frame to keep park possession, finished checks and be physical force has good pedigree instincts and plenty of hockey stick for the highest level is still a bit of an unrefined winger, so we need to continue to work on the Intricacies of the game and fully developed. His all around skills must always be conscious of playing on the edge, but not over it. And the long range potential for this players talented power forward with up size. Upside and his name is Max Jones. Um, he was. He was a first round pick. I think of the year the year that we covered the draft here. In, uh, in Buffalo. Uh, and he's in London and I know someone that coached him said he's a great kid, powerful, powerful player. Remember when Anaheim drafted him they were really excited about getting them. And I think he is exactly what the Sabres need. In the deal. I mean, we can go for all the skill we want. And I love the contour idea. I loves egress. I love number three. And but I think you gotta you gotta put pieces in your lineup that you actually can use for Long term and a little further down your lineup like you Look at how these teams are winning. They're winning with depth. Right, So Max Jones is a player. I think you should keep an eye on and I think he's a player that, uh, I'd like to CBS Saber. If the If the Sabres do send Jack Eichel To to Anaheim. Just just throwing it out there. You don't need much to comment, and I don't expect many people to know much about him. I don't know a ton about him. I just know uh, if you go watch some of his highlights and He's the type of player that you want to see the Sabres get. But If you care to comment. Go ahead. But then yeah. I mean, he's uh, you know, 24th overall pick in the 2016 draft, So he's 23 years old. Little bit more established player. Um you know, big kid, though. 61 £220. He's definitely I remember. I remember him. He's definitely more of a power for for forward. It's like a freight train. Yes, loves to throw the body around highly physical, um and skilled. You know and skilled, but it hasn't translated yet, right? It just has not translated into the NHL. Last year, he had seven goals and 11 11 points in 46 games. You know, so on pace for kind of like, you know, maybe 20 points. Uh, that's great for 1/4 liner. That's great. You look at you look at let Long island you look at the you look at a Matt Martin type production or gyno Cizikas. He can score, but he also killed her book like a Clutterbuck, Physical Sort of Buck. Perfect. Perfect comparison. Yeah, yeah. Like you're telling me you don't want to Clutterbuck know, if absolutely every I need you need three clutter box on your team. Yeah, you know, so anyway, you know, he's certainly an interesting guy. And and and this is this is the exciting thing about this is you know Anaheim when you start to dissect what the possibilities could be Um, there's some interesting pieces there for sure. Yeah, So why are we talking so much about Anaheim? It's in. It's it's in the news. It's being rumored out there. It's on social media. But 11 Oclock guest, Elliott Friedman. I did message him today just kind of asking him. If this is the direction we want to go, and he said they're definitely talking, so he didn't confirm what the pieces where I asked him, he said he's not sure yet. He said. They're definitely talking. And, uh If if I were to say to you, there is a reason why this deal would get done early, Craig or sooner rather than later. I said there was a reason for that. Would you think you know the reason for that? Okay. Say that again asked course again. Sorry. Okay, So I think this deal gets done sooner rather than later. And there's there is one specific reason why, and it might be obvious. But do you know what that reason might be? Um, I would say that people the teams that are trying to acquire Jack Eichel. I would imagine that that some of these teams want To dangle the first Round pick this year. They want that to happen in this year's draft and not in 2022. That's what would be the only thing that would come to mind that teams want to be able to an Anaheim or in L, a kings or a Vancouver Canucks. Uh, you know, Would want to Clemens Blue Jackets would want to use their top 10 pick this year to entice a deal. Good answer, Not what I was thinking about Good answer, because it's interesting that you say that and I'll get to my point in a second, but it's interesting that you say that because you wonder You wonder if the Sabres could be looking if you know and I Could the Sabres not be looking for Anaheim's number three in the deal, but maybe next year's pick?.

Jeff Merrick Max Jones Ron London Elliott Friedman 20 points Jack Eichel 2022 Don Granato 23 years 11 Oclock Matt Martin Craig 46 games today 24th 11 o'clock 11 £220 Last year

"Was that something that because you guys first couple years can be hard. You know you missed the boys you miss having the normal grind of what you're doing it was that the case for you were you. Were you pretty cool with being retired and having it all be over. I i was okay with it. I was thirty nine. I i was okay with unreal. Run to yeah and the thing is i was Became goalie coach. And i got to work with the kids in the minors in that and it was frustrated. You know like you try to teach some something new and right now they all go to their knees and back. Then you've got guy a guy five foot ten plan on his knees while doesn't work you to give up too much nets ride. Try to teach them how to how to poke chat cota play angles and stuff like that. And i always say it's not that ithaca watch me i go in and do drills with no equipment on guys. They can't get around race. I use drills with pylons. So i knew the guy had to get around the pilot and they drop their heads all time. I just step up and both. What's so difficult about this. And it's or shots from the point. I used to go in with no equipment on just gloves sticks gates deck. And i'd have guys shoot on me some the blue line and i wouldn't give a rebound and i go guys. Why are you going to your knees. Just catch the poppers. Nobody in front of you and the first thing they do assume guy brings a stick up. He's on his knees. You can't do that. you can't get away with that now. What we are style technique. Did it even have a name new play. They didn't even really have names for these things back. Then if if it even was style. I don't think i had style. I was unorthodox that i don't know i just nitrate. You're only there for one reason. Doer one thing. Who do we talked to about this. Jeff merrick i believe and he thought how crazy was taken so very recently for that for basically every team to have a goalie coach now. Was there someone that you could turn to if something was off at any point as far as a coach or a mentor. Like what would you do to fix your mechanics or eddie document came to me from the rangers. We had him there for about a year and and he was good any jackman. Also just lou things you would do wrong like they taught me how to stop the puck behind the net how to settle down a little like such little thing. You're not going to change the way of play. You'll never see anybody in the nhl. You shouldn't be trying to change. You just want to try to see what mistakes he's make and if it's the same mistake all the time just bring it to his attention. This is what you're doing wrong. This is how you can fix if you can. I know goalies. I i when i coached. They would do the same thing wrong all the time and i would say if i'm playing against you all wanna do is go down the boards shoot at low. You're going to keep the puck right back out front. So if i'm playing against you i'm just going to shoot that spot all the time and i'm going to have guys radio front to get the rebound and go around you and they a lot of good correct. So that's why like certain goalies laid good all year long and then they get in the playoffs and guys bear down on what they do wrong. And they'll go to their weaknesses and that's how they beat them with or without what. Let me just hop in there that watching your highlights or any of your video. You said you were able to remember all these mistakes. Were making where you just like. You are disabled to correct them from that. I guess one year we played who was it. I think it was vancouver. We played the last series but the series before the howie meeker was combined. You'd rant and rave and all you gotta do this guy shoot high. Just shoot high. And the game before the series before everything was scrambles so i was going down on everything because it was in. Kohl's scramble the divan rolling around so how he makes the genius he is. He's at all you got to shoot high on this gut so we went against coober. Everybody's shooting from my waist and above. I don't think i went down on my knees. Once stood there caught pocket. I'm going this is easiest series i've ever had. You've gotta change you change your style. You know what i mean. If you're just doing the same thing all the time you should be able to play a little bit on your heat look at look. Now when you're watching the games now you watching how many goals are being scored from batting's whereas if you're staying up that extra second it's knock going in when you're standing on the goal line with zero angle impossible.
