So last year was a record for the ETF industry. Actually in the last two years, at BNY Mellon on our platform that we service a large percentage of the industry, we were launching almost one ETF a day on our platform. Now that is slowed and our expectation is that it will slow a bit and also closures will tick up. So on a net basis we might not hit that record, but the Q looks strong and one of those drivers is really the mutual funds starting to convert to ETF. So that's the reasons, right? We had a regulatory change that allowed mutual fund conversions to ETFs. And frankly, ETFs are just a lot cheaper. I mean, if you're an investor, it makes a lot more sense depending on obviously your goals and what you want to do. Your risk tolerance et cetera, but you're looking at 25 or 50 basis points. Maybe 95 or a hundred rather than one and a half or 2%. Fees matter. And that has been one of the drivers of ETF adoption, but look, you know, from an asset manager standpoint, investors are clearly preferring the ETF structure and that is putting a lot of pressure on the industry. So some of the mutual fund sponsors are saying, hey, if we can't beat them, join them. You know, look, if you run out of borrowing authority, which is what the debt ceiling means, and you still have obligations to meet your spending authority because the Congress is also passed a budget. What do you do rather than default, you could admit this coin, say, put a $1 trillion on it, write the word 1 trillion, deposit it at the treasury's account at the New York fed with the treasury general account. And now you have a $1 trillion in there that you can then spend. Is it a gimmick? Yeah, of course, writing a trillion on a coin, but on the other hand, the idea that we would have this sort of fiction called the debt ceiling, in which we arbitrarily threaten publicly, we might default on our obligations. There's also pretty silly. If the prospect is your defaulting on the largest liquid fixed income asset class in the entire world, the definition of safety, that maybe it's okay to use a gimmick in that case because the alternative is so catastrophic. Maybe we warm up to the idea of a gimmick. That's right, come on. Look, I don't want to do silly things either. I want to have a serious government that operates, but like, you know, I was just in a conversation with the other day and just like, okay, if it's a choice between going over a cliff and the Grand Canyon or pressing a silly button, why is this so hard? So Sunday was supposed to be the mother's Day hat They give away think they were giving them away all weekend. We got him on Saturday. My mom got one. We were sitting in the sun and it was it was useful on Saturday. It was a hot day at the ballpark, but it was beautiful could not have had better weather this weekend for a mother's day at the ballpark, So a lot of fun was great taking my mom out great hanging with my brother and sister. We had beer. We had popcorn. We had some hot dogs and nachos did it up big for the for the Mother's Day. Weekend was a lot of fun. So Giants two games serious starts two days. 6 45 1st pitch right here can be on one of 45 and 6 80 against the Texas Rangers. The weird Giants Rangers. I just don't get the place in it in the sport in general on again. I think it lends itself that whole mentality lends itself to then somebody pushing the line and going over the line at that point that I mean the bad boy Pistons. There are a lot of people I talked. I just recently talked to Rick Barry, you said. No, he couldn't believe they got away with some of the stuff they got away with it. It wasn't actually basketball, and that's been legislated out of basketball right? Like you don't see that in basketball anymore in the NFL, which is But it's been legislated out by the league and there are the punishments for it. Same thing with the NFL, though right like and basketball is a physical sport. It's not a contact sport. The NFL is a contact a collision a violent sport, and you don't see any of that in the NFL.
