"Answers like Oh, you could leave $2000 in an education savings account. Great. Well, that might grow to what 10 or $12,000, which might cover what one semester of of you know the tuition At that point. What about a 5 29 plan? Well, that's great. You can do up to $10,000 into that, and that grows tax free and it has to be used for education. There are some restrictions and most 5 29 plans. Don't give you a lot of Sense to invest the way you want. So you may or may not like the 5 29 plan, other than the fact that you're doing something for your grandchild, and you think it's a really awesome thing, and you feel good about it, But it may not be the best performance. You might think. What about just a growth stock mutual fund If you have, you know, $10,000, and let's say that averages 10%. That's gonna double roughly every seven years. And that's almost doubling almost three times so $10,000 could be worth you know, 70 $80,000 by the time that grandchild goes to college If the long term average is happened to apply to the investment that you guess at, you know again, it's speculation, but I think you have some really good upside there. Here's another option that some people use, and this is what parents probably used, but a grandparent can use it, too. And you might want to use it in conjunction with maybe your child who is the grand child's parent, right? So what about putting like a universal life Policy index Universal life insurance policy on your child and let's say you put $10,000 into it, but you don't have to put $10,000 in every year. Let's say you just put $2000 for the next five years. So you get all $10,000 set aside for your granddaughter. And here's why it might make sense because you probably have a couple $100,000 or more in death benefits. Should your granddaughters parent die. That might be a breadwinner elicits if I'm reading this right, Lynn Is the mother. So I guess Lynn is the a soon. It's a father that wants to give my so Let's say the father puts the insurance policy on then, if something happens to Lynn, and they get $200,000 that pretty much ensures that kid just to go to college almost anywhere right If Lin doesn't pass away, and that policy is enforced, let's say the cash value is now 50 or $60,000. You can actually borrow against the death benefit from that policy and actually paid tuition. Maybe you can pay that 40 or 50 or $60,000, you can actually take out again. It's the policy. If Lin wants to keep the policy going, she can continue to contribute into it, and it grows tax free. The income comes out tax free, and you can also end up leaving a legacy for that grandchild later or for other Children. So I kind of like the idea and the flexibility between what I call lurked life insurance retirement plans. But in this case is kind of life insurance education plan on I'd call that Ackerman leap or something like that. But it could be very easily used in a very tax friendly way. You get all the benefits of the 5 29 plan, But the thing is is you don't have to give it to the kid and you don't have to use it for education. Let's say the kid becomes an entrepreneur and learns how to write computer code in high school and gets his great job right naps and making a million dollars a year doesn't need to go to college. Well, OK, then you use the gift toe. Put a down payment on a house for the person, actually that person out of power of your house, if you're is that well off, but at the same time, you know you're not restricted to use it for your education. You can use it again. To use and help out your child along the way, And then if something happens to you, they can receive it as a death benefit in inheritance, So that might be an option to look at two. I kind of favor the flexibility and the tax advantages of the EU. L's the index products that are out there, and I think you'll find that they grow just as well as most other investments. Most other mutual funds would if you look at the after tax benefits Good answer, Jeff and Good question. Land The good news. proceed to trial and I I I in my honest opinion there's the you know the justice department and the justices yeah we'll let that happen no question no question about it I think it's only fair out in my mind no doubt in my mind Hey Dave there running around playing with David peach jam this mad stuff so what the hell's close he waited on I mean back it up I mean but does she wants all that time news and all you can do all she wants but when the Senate did it we have three branches of government and I did and I don't see the the justice of branch the US disallowing a quick and speedy trial there's no question in my mind my dad died I have no question in my mind about that in a lot a lot of these experts and scholars agree with the your line of thinking or in reasoning and am and makes common sense but you know now days seems like sometimes were lacking common sense specially Washington DC yeah what what what really bother me really really bother me personally he is yeah you have the AG questioning you know the former Josh's Webster I believe his name is Daniel Webster and and and Danny what's your watching him if I'm not correct and I hope Mister Macaluso is listening and I hope you do you go through this the ruby ridge the bottle he had to reform Danny war I've stir had to reform the FBI then it AG bark yelp should start listen I'm not going to speculate no I'm not going to speculate they're good friends very good friends and they headed the CIA and the FBI do most of the and he's not did you know AG Barr said I'm not going to speculate until the facts are out and and and do you know that rice made a great way personally speaking that they have disagreements and yeah and it you know AT bar said okay well I'm not you know they're great trench great do you would do that yes my pine income good night I couldn't believe that you know in AT bar said okay well get the facts out I think the point you're you're Makin is that there's gonna be another shoe it's gonna drop it is just a question of time I mean with the work that Durham's doing with the grand jury and what he's got a percent and what bars investigate and fake news media I'm just waiting for when they're going to have to cover this because they're all going to have a pity party you thought there was a lot of sad faces when they found out the results of Donald Trump got elected that night you use all the scouts in their face and you're all the champagne did the did cracked open now Hillary's Dave day Dave listen to me listen listen to me closely you look also so yeah need to of the yell back at I know that you want to the JFK things yeah you guys need to cover this you need to cover this so that everyone knows what happened on that ruby ridge band and there were hopeful people that were taken to task on the justice department mortars well yeah you know I haven't studied everything that happened exactly how it happened but I mean that was definitely real tragic day and the history of law enforcement the FBI and what happened over there and you know there's been a lot of stories written on that I'm just not a real expert at no real quick here I've only got about a minute or so did you have any comment then about the upcoming football games you can save it for next Friday night yes I do yes I do okay real quick we got a minute real quick real quick yeah I think that Oklahomans in trouble yeah big trouble now I don't know what's gonna happen to pick them at the last night of the other night yeah you know you know yeah I mean this is going to be something special yeah it's a I I take them now you're talking about the Buckeyes a Clemson yeah yeah but but the idea that Hey go online and I didn't hear it but he pried took a high stake as you're being from Columbus and everything well harsh dates don't doesn't make any mistakes well the wait a second that they do make mistakes I think I died maybe you did hear me earlier the probably the highest state they got a hell of a defense but sometimes they some of these guys mostly the defensive backs have a habit of trying to arm tackle it when you go up against a quality team quality running backs are wide receivers you can't get away with arm tackle in that some of the guys they got used to play in some of the patsies that they play early in the year and all the teams big teams play Patsy's but alas they paid the real deal the last you know four five six weeks cute yeah well tell me now you got away once one thing at a time Alice you should beat Oklahoma no question about that but if the Buckeyes you've passed Clemson I think that's the match of that everybody wants to see is the Buckeyes faces Ellis I I don't know you know and I'm just saying that it will be one heck of a game well Houston Astros fire executive Brandon Taubman over outburst at reporters
"Seminar recorded the episode that you're about to hear on Thursday morning when there had still been no major updates on the situation with the Astros in there assist THAN GM Brandon Todman in which they announced that they had fired todman following an investigation over the past two days in conjunction with Major League Baseball they interviewed Astros employees. target any specific reporters in the vicinity yesterday say our initial investigation led us to believe that Brendan Dobbins inappropriate comments were not directed toward any reporter we were wrong young we sincerely apologize to Stephanie Epstein Sports illustrated and to all individuals who witnessed this incident or were offended by the inappropriate conduct the Astros in no way intended to minimize the issues related to domestic violence our initial belief was based on witness statements about the incident subsequent interviews have revealed the titans inappropriate comments were in fact directed toward one were reporters now it's obviously a good thing that Todman was held accountable here even though the astros description of what they did as proactively assisting Major League baseball strange credibility given their actions leading up to this point it's good that they apologized to Stephanie App st in the end the other reporters who witnessed this I would not say it's a sufficient response in that they do not apologize in the statement for releasing their own first statement in which they supported Taliban and accused Epstein in sports illustrated of advocating their report which has been proved completely accurate and was very suit and corroborated by other reporters as we said in our initial episode they made what could have been a career ending Asians Bhai suggesting that that report was fabricated said there really should be some sort of reckoning for that and Luneau admitted on Thursday that before the team issued that original statement old Lee Todman and another astros employees were spoken to so they didn't even talk to the reporters about what they said they saw happened and yet also said this is not endemic this is not a cultural issue which is very hard to believe given how unserious Li they appeared to take this Lino claimed that quote the belief was that it was one colleague talking to another colleague having been overheard and it was not intended to be overheard which again pretty hard to believe clearly contradicted by the reports that were out there this also doesn't explain why allowed toubon false statement in a press release on Tuesday nor does it explain why Luna went on the radio and did an interview on Wednesday in which he said we may never know top content I would think that by that time there had been enough eyewitness reports to suggest that we had pretty good idea about what his intent was so whoever was responsible for releasing that I statement it seems should also be held accountable for that in any other members of the Astros Organization who may have backed up top account should be held accountable for that to Jeff Lynne did not say who wrote the statement but that a group of people were involved and that he did see it before it went out he acknowledged that it should not have gone out he also said that he is not actually reached out to any of the women who were subjected to Tomlin's tirade he said I have been traveling up here I had to have a pretty tough conversation this morning with someone that's worked with me for a long time fine but I will as soon as I can and no one really feels bad about the tough conversation you had to have with top man so this positive development in the sense that it would not have been conceivable for nothing at all to happen and no punishment to be applied but it doesn't seem quite sufficient obviously dismissing one person or multiple people probably wouldn't root out whatever versus traffic issues led to this incident but even the direct response to this single isolated incident still leaves a lot to be desired so we will see whether they're any further consequences whether MLB issues any discipline of its own the astros have really bungled this every step of the way it's obviously unfortunate that this happened at all but they should have immediately ED that we're we're looking into it provided that comment for the initial report that Epstein wrote for sports illustrated not issued defenses of top and in the intervening days while they were evidently still uncertain about what actually happened really kind of a clinic in responding as poorly as possible from start to finish that perhaps this will not be the finish maybe the really nail it in the for statement I three warm ups all right now you're up to speed they'll still hear my conversation with Sam because most of it still lies but now you know the
