"J. Williams and Silver To a hunger by Lohan and the Dolphin starting quarterback. Now you have to buy to get him up to speed where he becomes the number one guy you spend a little more time coaching him up. Doing that, by process. Now you face the Rams. A lot of people say, why would you throw him out there to the rules against Air? Donald? No, you initiating. There's pregame, a tent and two hours of postgame right after the game. Sundays are best on yesterday, 1000. Yes, The SEC is bullish and fast and big and strong and you played against some of these guys in a sec. But the NFL is a little bit different, and so you give him an opportunity to go up against a team like the Rams win or lose, which most likely they're gonna lose. So when we get to the rough schedule, he's accustomed to playing in the NFL, and he'll see some things that he hadn't seen before. Jay will wait day mornings at six Eastern on ESPN radio. "With Joe Kelly, and I think we should play this sound because it's really interesting. Joe Kelly had a suspension reduced from eight games to five. But that didn't stop him from still showing his expressing his ire for the Astros. The people that took the fall for what happened is nonsense. Yes, everyone's involved, but the way that thing was ran over there It was not from coaching staff. They're not the head Boston charges, I think is the players. So now the players get the immunity and all they do is go snitch like a little bit, and they don't have to get fine. They don't have to lose games. They take the livelihood from people who work hard to become a manager. And next, they would take the livelihood from people who work hard to become a GM axed. So what happened is you get people to snitch and become a rat and the people who could afford to lose money. Get immunity. Who afford to get their names tainted Get immunity. Now that is as real as you've heard it, And that's the issue with baseball players with the Houston Astros. They were not penalized at all for something that they were doing. Yes. Ah, the Skip on down Otherwise a. J. Hinch should have stopped it. He should have stood up and said This is not happening in my dugout in my locker room. He should've stopped that He didn't But it was because, but the players were doing it. They knew they were doing it, and they cooperated and gave up a J. Hinch and Jeff Lou now who got fired and now have this this permanent stain on their resumes, even though it was the players who did it and escaped judgment from Major league baseball. That's why Joe Kelly As so much I wre for the Houston Astros players. And to be honest with you, it is really, really hard to blame him. It really is. Stitches gets bitches..

Toyotas for says this breaking news from earlier today about baseball was breaking news and there was more breaking news because the suspensions turned into firings in the Johns tons going on yes fall out in Houston not a good day to be Houston sports fan in any realm right now but AJ henshin Jeff Lou now the manager and general manager of the Houston Astros both of been let go by the team after those suspensions they're going to be a year long suspension without pay but they were announce their news conference by Jim crane that they were gonna let those to go and and to be honest I don't know that they had a lot of choice I mean what what do you do at that point and from everything that I understood Houston's got to kind of a thin front office they don't have a huge front office and so just what I was reading there wasn't a lot of internal candidates maybe to be an interim DM something like that and at this point now well new hires you get to kind of start over well then the question is what happens JJ core because obviously was the bench coach when some of this was happening for the Astros he's the manager of the Boston Red Sox but you're hard for me to believe he's gonna be able to hang on to his job in fact when they do announce sanctions they have to probably be stiffer than these how are they not if you're if you're the Boston Red Sox you can't then come in after that and and hot follow suit almost you're you're kind of painted into a corner if you're the red Sox this point well the a CC the you know the fallout from this obviously huge repercussions there's never been in the history baseball sanctions like this leveled against the team and managers and GM so rob Manfred was not messing around on this one no not at all and you know it was fairly clear that you know they they it was it was pretty obvious it was almost like you know when the NCA hands down punishments and they they they they say no institutional control or lack of institutional control that's kind of where they've gone in what they've leveled against the Houston Astros that Hey here the two at the top they did not have control over what was going on in that organization and so that's why these punishments are being laying down they also lost draft picks they also are being fine but you know that's that's kind of the way they went there well you know it had happened so I'm not gonna be all broken up about it that happened to the Astros that's for sure I am not a subtle football here because obviously the the chiefs advance in in a weird way I don't know if you're watching I was did call you said you're watching the game you turn it off yeah I turn off it was twenty four nothing at that point I text you know so well not so much for this game I looks like it's about I never a lot of times I would give up in a game like that but I didn't because I felt like now I'm not gonna sit here today I thought that was gonna be come back like that but I did think if they can get it to twenty four ten for example at the end of the first half of the homes had it had a chance if they give the defense could step up it low behold what they did was unbelievably entertaining and fun and they maybe had to the Superbowl having said that I don't think the Titans are to be taken lightly with their can read what they did we surprised by what happened with the Titans in Baltimore for sure and I think that I was not at all my upset pick Titans over the ravens.

Stealing the Signs: How Allegations Against the Astros Could Change Baseball
"Any allegation that relates to a wool violation that could affect the outcome of a game or games is the most serious abuse matter that was. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred responding to questions questions about the biggest baseball scandal. In recent memory amidst accusations of the Houston Astros stole signs two years ago executives employers around around the League are wondering what will happen next and whether it goes beyond the Astros. It's a story could change the game as we know it. I mean at times. It's Wednesday November twentieth. This is espn daily presented by indeed. Jeff thanks for coming on the show. There's really nothing going on in baseball these days. No nothing at all just the biggest scandal in the last decade to last century maybe Jeff Passan is an MLB insider for ESPN Jeff. You're at the the. MLB owners meeting in Arlington Texas. What is the scene like there? So the scene is actually construction. Seen Globe life field is being built right next door. In the shadow of Jerry World Rob Manfred and a bunch of Texas Rangers. Executives took a tour through the new ballpark. And so we're looking in the sweets and we're looking at the club down the first baseline and then we end up in this construction action area. Where Rob Manfred is standing there in front of a bunch of cameras wearing a hard hat and the first few questions are about the Rangers ballpark? But then the question comes in what about the Houston Astros and the sign stealing scandal. That is taking over Major League baseball right now. We have a very very active. What is going to be really really thorough investigation ongoing but beyond that? I can't tell you how close we are. He addressed that and really clued us in some as to what. Mlb Thinking is at this point early on and what's going to be the biggest story in baseball this year. It's it's the biggest story in baseball. It's really honestly the biggest story in baseball in a real long time. And that's of course the report from the athletic that according to Pitcher Mike Fires fires the astros stole signs back in two thousand seventeen. What exactly where the Astros accused of doing in two thousand seventeen is mike fires? Alleges the Astros had a camera in center field that was trained on the signs that the catcher was putting down and the feed from that camera went to a monitor in the hallway between in the dugout and the Astros clubhouse and in this hallway. There was somebody who is. They're looking at the signs decoding them in real time. And depending on what the pitch was if it was a fastball. There was nothing but if it was an off speed pitch they would bang on a trash can and those noises leases that would come out of the dugout would alert the hitter as to what was coming now. This was happening incredibly quickly. So it's obvious that the Astros had the signs of these teams pretty early and as time went on this got out and if you were going in to face the Houston Astros. You went in there with multiple signs you. You changed up the this year during the world series the Washington nationals had five sets of signs that their pitchers had to memorize because they wanted to change them so quickly because they were so wary of what the Astros were doing. Science stealing in. Baseball isn't unusual. But what is unusual about this well the way that you look at signed stealing or the way that longtime grizzled baseball men look at signs. Stealing is that it is an art that if you are able to use use your eyes to figure out what's going on whether it's a runner on second base looking at the catchers signals and somehow furtively relaying what's coming coming to the hitter that that's something that has been part of the game for a really long time and is beautiful and is enjoyable and is is part. The fabric of the game one technology gets involved. You get into the unwritten baseball rules that it's almost beyond the Pale that you would ever use. WHO's a camera or you would ever use some sort of algorithm to decode what the signs are and that's where we that's where we are at this point where you have this old school mentality of signs stealing being okay running up against the reality of life in two thousand nineteen where technology he makes things a lot easier and makes it a lot easier for you to go out and do something like this and what? The allegations against the Houston Astros are is is that they looked at this unwritten rule in baseball scoffed at it and said we want to win. And we're going to go to any length to do that. Well well they did win. They won the world series that year in obviously this casts that victory in a New Light. How has the team responded to these allegations? The team really hasn't responded and that is interesting for the Astros because as we saw with the brand and Taubman situation the Astros Stroz instinct is to push back against negative stories is to save. This is how we do things and whether you like it or not. It doesn't make a difference so their silence in this case has spoken a lot of volumes now. Granted there's an investigation into this right now and they're probably not going to want to run afoul of Major League baseball when they're looking at severe potential penalties. That Rob Manfred can enforce. Obviously we're still very much in the middle of this. But what kind of punishment do you think we might be looking at. It's tough to say I would not be surprised if the maximum fine is levied here and that's two million dollars. The last time we saw that happen vigne was ironically with the saint. Louis Cardinals who had an employee Chris Korea hack into the computerized database of the Houston Astros. And they were fined two million dollars they were docked. Two first round draft picks that were given to the Astros. When you go beyond the draft picks and you go beyond beyond what to a billionaire is a miniscule fine? You're starting to look at potential suspensions. And if if rob Manfred goes goes out and suspends Jeff Lou the General Manager of the Houston Astros and suspends. Aj hinch the manager of the Houston Astros all of a sudden. Maybe maybe teams are going to think twice before thinking about doing something like this but you know what maybe they're not maybe teams look at it and say okay. Two a million dollars a few graphics some international players my GM and my manager what trade that for a ring. I think almost every one of them the answer is going to be. Yes we've heard what Manfred has to say so far. What are people saying in Arlington? What are you hearing from other teams around Donald? There are a lot of very very unhappy billionaires. And that's what you have to be to own a major league baseball team. Every one of these teams is worth more more than a billion dollars and they look at what's happening and they look at their investments and they say we invested in something that is farcical is is this really the point that we're at where a world champion achieved that with something like stealing signs and it's a reasonable thing to ask and I think if there's anything that's going to pressure rob Manfred to make sure that this investigation is as thorough as he says it's going to be it. Is those twenty nine other owners outside of the Astros owner. Jim Crane saying hey the game and its integrity is on the line here and we really truly deeply employees need to look into this to ensure something like this not just doesn't happen again but that we adjudicate the right kind of penalties to ensure that it doesn't so teams are looking at this and saying that Rob Manfred has to put down an enormous penalty on the Astros. If in fact the investigation does back up the allegations that Mike fires made aide. What about the argument that the Astros are being unfairly judged here because everybody does their no astros officials who were speaking on the record right now but if you talk with people in the organization they will say yeah but what about everyone else and listen? That's that's not much of a defense is so much as it is a way of trying to get around what they did. wrong. If you talk with executives around the sport they think that this is not something that is limited just to the Houston Astros that this is something. That's been going on far foreign wide for a while now and they're looking at rob Manfred and saying. Are you going to actually do something about it. And what was most interesting about his comments. Today is that he said and this is a quote. I'm not going to speculate on whether other people are going to be involved with that if it happens but I have no reason to. I believe that expand extend beyond the Astros at this point in time now maybe. MLB's investigation is going to bring more evidence to show otherwise but until it does there will be people around the game who are saying that this is something that's happening and this is something that's not being addressed by. The Commissioner's Office Office. What does that say about baseball? What does that say about the sport writ large that it's not just the astros potentially that is all of these other other teams that are trying to get around the rules and potentially running afoul of them? And what does it say about the integrity of the game right right now because if the Games are not being played on a fair level then they're not really games at all it's just the wwe
The Astros Fire Their Assistant Manager After He Taunted Female Reporters
"Yes if age down doesn't have enough problems in referring to the Astros down to heading into DC the team has dismissed assistant general manager Brandon tall bin for directing inappropriate comments that female reporters following they're headed winner over the Yankees the team issued a statement saying Toppin's conduct did not reflect the organization's values adding that the firing is the most appropriate course of action the Astros initially denied tarpons comments chronicled the Sports Illustrated report where directed at the female reporters but they say they learned otherwise following an investigation and have since apologized to SIA and its reporter GM Jeff Lou now with this response it's not what I want to be here talking about and is that you know hopefully when AJ gets in here you will get back to talking about game three in the series it's unfortunate timing and it's unfortunate stage for this to occur but the comments that were made were incorrect regardless of whether was on a big stage or not so you know we stand by the decision that we made today I thought if I went out and that is a lot of people that side before or not so in that respect yes I did yeah that's an interesting

"jeff lou" Discussed on Baseball Tonight with Buster Olney
"Well maybe image of zach britain coming out of the bullpen is also something that aj hinges thinking about uh the for the astros uh they're in a position where they've got a deep bullpen but they have had some blips with the kinshasa from time to time at closer um they are mostly righthanded in that bullpen and the rotation wild not spectacular disppointed barings mundri concerns has certainly put them in a position with hit this huge lead in one of the more intriguing questions that i've ever had this debate with a lot of baseball executives if you're sitting at jeff lou now shoes and you're running the astros what's your priority leading up to the trade deadline should it be a bullpen piece or should it be starting pitcher lake sunny gray i know i if i were running the astros i would focus on britain more than sunny gray because they feel like we've seen in the postseason a recent years bullpen win yeah i mean i i'm gonna disagree just because that i i really liked the back and i've not even the back end of that bullpen but i i feel like a guy like cristovan he doesn't give a lot of credit me we give them credit we you and i talk about them and those they watched the astros on any given night and they see what they called devaux and and what he's able to do but just to be like a solid guy he's had some ups and down but um you know look gregor thin ken job i i just feel like the the number that those guys have been able to consistently produced they're gonna have you know games where they they give up some they don't but i think when it comes to the postseason it's really going to be and you hear it from even the dallas kyko demanding thing we need another dominant starter and to hear that come from the clubhouse internally i think they have a better idea of hey if i'm kyko i feel more confident handing this fall off but i don't know who's gonna be our number three who's gonna be the guy in the postseason um that's going to be able to really carry us when when we need you know good five six innings on the front end.
