"You can call in to the show at 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. The way Lorenzo in Hollywood. Florida has done Lorenzo. What's going on? Hey, Thanks. Thanks for taking the call. I will say this. Um I think a D is incredibly skilled. But let's not forget the fact he lost the series. And if we want to talk about comparisons, how would your show be different? If LeBron James in a game seven went over four in overtime and shot an air ball. It would have been hours and hours of your show and acknowledge. Disagree. No. You know, it wouldn't have been. You're wrong. You are wrong, because I don't play that game. Okay? You're so then I apologize than other shows. Okay, let me just talk sports talking to by the way, if we want to be factually correct shows around it. Kevin Durant was o of six and over time. I will say this just because, and I said this earlier in the show, and I'm keeping you on the line, so don't worry, Um I said this earlier, just because something has been done for LeBron or a standard has been created for LeBron. I know that that standard is insane. I'm not going to perpetuate it, knowing that it's insane Just because it was done for him. That makes no sense. That makes me an idiot, right and Kevin Durant six and over time, I'll tell you I'll tell you a game LeBron was didn't do anything in overtime Game one of the NBA Finals in 2018. And I would argue That's the greatest game I've ever seen a human being play LeBron James against the Warriors in Game one of 2018 and guess what he lost. His team lost that game. I mean, there was a number of Go ahead. No, in the theory. No. Well, that's like it is like winning the series. So Katie ultimate lost the series. I think the indictment is and you kind of alluded on it. The great players now have to do everything and gee, honest is great, but he needs help. With the three point shooting. He's more of a driver. He can develop that game. And I think there's something about our basketball society where we put those guys who when I growing up, we call them volley ball hogs. Now they're called volume shooters. Those guys, for some reason in today's games are put on a pedestal. And really seen as revered and other guys who who maybe have an overdeveloped one aspect of the game. But need help in another aspect are seen as the second and I think, in the larger scheme of things that's true if you're comparing one on one greatness. Let's not forget team basketball, trusting your teammates. Should it be important and maybe playing with the right ones? You know, KB did match up with Kyrie. But he picked the guy who wasn't history of Injury problems and the fact he's injured again. Well, I mean, like this again, you have to deal with. You have to deal what actually happened, right? What happened to Kyrie? Irving? Did he get hurt? Because he's injury prone, Or did you get hurt Because Janice came up under him, and he sprained his ankle robot. James Harden has no injury problems. He plays every season every year. I mean, he's as durable as you can get, and Kevin Durant does do everything. Kevin Durant did everything in that series. That's my problem. If you watch that series, and you have anything like I don't care that he lost. That's let me put that on there. Do not care that he lost. I don't think that matters at all. I came away more impressed with Kevin Durant in a loss than I did when he won the titles that lost to me is greater than his title wins, just like LeBron has lost in the past. And I would say aside from 2016, I could make an argument that the second best LeBron achievement was in a loss. So this is where I think our collective brains are broken, where we only work from result backwards. And therefore, if you don't win, you are a failure, you know? I reject that sort of logic, and I reject that sort of thinking. I rejected it for LeBron. I'm rejecting it for Katie right now, because I've argued in the you know, like people Act like making it to the finals. Is worse than losing in the finals. I mean, losing in the finals is worse than losing before the finals as they've done for LeBron in the past, and just because LeBron was covered in a certain way does not mean It does not mean that you should Then do that to everybody else. If you know that that was stupid, and I know that that was stupid. Yeah. That's it. Oh, no, I'm sorry. Um, I'm calling up traffic. You're you're good. I don't disagree with what you're saying. But I also think the, um you know the team aspect. I don't think I can discredit the team aspect. You know what team aspect? What team aspect? That that maybe could. Kevin Durant did not align himself with the best team in Brooklyn. And I'm sorry, like when, when part of the storyline is, some players just need to get him the ball and get out of the way, which was one of them with With Rice Brown. I'm sorry, Bruce Brown when he took that last second scramble play, I don't know. I just think I think there's a reverence and over reverence. Who will who will be the favorites who will be the betting favorites going into next NBA season? I I would argue. Let's see how this one plays out. It will be the Brooklyn Nets. I I guarantee you. I guarantee you will be the Brooklyn net. No, You're good, right? But what if Milwaukee winds and they come back almost intact? Next year? It will be the next dude. Dude. Dude, we just watched that series. We just watched that series. Kyrie Irving was out. James Harden was on a great to hamstring strain. Jeff Greene, who's in their rotation was hobbled. Spencer Dinwiddie, who's on their roster was out and they barely lost to the bus. Okay, once again by Katie Toe. Could argue a poorly constructed team that you're making excuses. I think that's just that's just that's aside. I man I'm sorry and thank you for the call, but that's asinine. It's not a poorly constructed team. Every Every team by the way in the NBA history you take away You know their best guys. R is.

"Close. I missed a lot of adversity and if we can continue to refine and improve what we do. Why can't we take this with us. Grow learn and be back with even more resolved more of an understanding of what it takes to win. So that's definitely The the silver lining is what what we can take from this. What can we add to our toolbox said to our collective kind of mentality and culture. And i think we all feel heartbroken. That were not so playing. But at the time we have a lot of positivity around what's capable here what what. This group is able to accomplish and in all the path towards it is exciting. It's not a daunting govern years. Fired up to get back to work and try to build this thing back up and and even stronger all right. So let's spin this forward. Stephen jackson should be favorites to win it all next year. No matter what happens the rest of the playoffs this season. Yeah i think so. I mean we all know. That interest played a big part in this season this year. And angie plays a big part in in in the nba season period with a lot of different teams. But this team We know how it would have been if they were held the When we seen them play together awfully awfully stars play together. They will definitely a dangerous team and You can't count them out just because the way they seize the ended in when how and how everybody was hurt this you guys missing game so i was still. I was still have them as a as a team that this leading to win a championship next year. Because they still have. These stars is a possibility that can be healthy all year. It's a lot adjustments to make. And i think the coach coaching staff who knows that they have to do a better job as well. I'm glad you on the coaching staff. And i and i'll get to that. Listen we'll the net. Be one of the best teams in basketball. Of course they will be again. They've got kevin durant. Kevin durant plus almost any supporting cast is going to be in the upper echelon kevin durant plus kyrie irving james harden is going to be one of the best teams basketball but wild. I tried to be gentle yesterday. I tried not to do the you know somebody told you heard but no not with you. Gentlemen i wasn't with you. Your seventy four and eight tape was so beyond the pale stupid. I had to take off the gentleness and be honest. Bud we are going to rinse and repeat the exact same thing with the nets for next year. Then i'm gonna lose my mind court. They win the title. Of course they could win the title but there are some major structural changes that will need to be made and they also need to recognize that their biggest weakness other than health which by the way well not all of a sudden change. I'm not saying stephen is saying it will. But kyrie irving is the only guy they were missing for the second half of the buck series when they went from zero to losing the series and kyrie irving missed the end of the playoffs in two thousand fifteen missed. The playoffs in twenty eighteen missed the playoffs in twenty twenty and got hurt in the playoffs in twenty twenty one so and prior to two thousand fifteen never made the playoffs so him being healthy throughout the whole year is more of the outlier than him getting hurt unfortunately but their biggest weakness other than health wilds was can they deal with a true big man and they could have won the title this year without having to do that if they could have gotten through the one big man they dealt with an jaanus embiid knocked out yokich knocked out. Anthony davis knocked out. That's not going to be the case you wouldn't think again next season and yon is. I would imagine we'll be even better because he won't be like the devil on his shoulder saying you've got to prove to them. You can shoot like he was throughout this net series if he is the minted finals. Mvp by playing his own game and none of that addresses. What stephen set the beginning which is right now. There are poorly coach team. Now just like players can grow from your one or two coaches can grow from year one or two but they are not a well coached team and that's not even a mention blake griffin. Might not be back. Jeff greene might not be back. Bruce brown might not be back. That's three of the six guys they were actually playing this postseason so i think there are major questions next year just like there were this year for the net to. I think you have going. What was it seventy five and seven being the greatest team of all time. I can't quite remember what it was. Yesterday i blacked out from the stupidity of seventy four. Seventy four seventy so. So about so sean. Mark has worked to do right. I think if they knew that they needed to upgrade their that. Andre jordan wasn't giving them everything they needed stack and that's why they went and got lamarcus. Aldridge now lamarcus unfortunately couldn't play what i feel like. That's something sean marks try to address interior defense and rebounding so. I don't know who they target whether they go out. And get a big star or try to find some sort of like hidden gem out there like the next with airlines so the question about the seventy four and eight thing is this. They'll be favored in every single game. Now you can tell me. It's wise for them to try to go for a record. But i feel like they need something they need to go after something because we are just like well it's championship or bust. It's a long road now. I don't know where where you stand on a stack for me. It's like well if you're going to play the games you might as well win. And if they're going to be favored in every single game and they've gone through a year of adversity so they're better. They've gone through a year chemistry. They feel more gelled. And katie has taken his game to another level hard notably back. he'll take his game to another level. Kyri who look was basically healthy is shoulders now seems to be fixed and his injury in the playoffs was just a freak thing. I don't think we can tag that to sort of his history of injuries. I just want to hear a reason why they couldn't challenge the warriors in the ninety six bulls for being one of the best regular seasons of all time. It definitely can happen while no question about that. You spot on. But you know i think even with you guys saying that Dj join can get it done. I think he could've. I think for what they needed from him to be a little bit and rebounding lives. He could have done that I think the coaches staff Loss confidence in him and not even without even consulting the players you know. He's great friends with all those guys in that play. Not playing guy who the players are cool with. That's been on the team that started the season with guys. It can kill them around and i know dj. He went from standing up clapper to sit there and wonder why he wasn't playing and a lot of basketball players around around the world asking the same question. Why z plan. But this team you know. They went through a lot this year. But you look coach. Mike d'antoni wasn't good at making adjustments. So so steve has has only look his coaching staff and see can he rely on them to help them. Make in game adjustments doing the season but as far as the roster they need to bring jabbering bag we gotta start calling guys like joe harris knockdown shooter that guys that can make shots in season but can make them in the playoffs. So like you said. They got a lot of stuff that they need to fix. Arlington the reach. That goal.

Mike d'antoni Anthony davis Stephen jackson Jeff greene Kyri Aldridge Mark kevin durant Andre jordan kyrie irving Bruce brown Kevin durant blake griffin lamarcus next year katie joe harris twenty twenty yesterday stephen

"Based on what he's a somewhat. He's graded baseball. But so you don't think there's there is such a thing as the guys who in the crucible of the moment get worse in snagged and small samples. There are in randomness like baseball and basketball. There's very little. It's why what. Ben simmons did yesterday and in that series. It's so confusing. What reference points do you have for someone. Just totally collapsing everything. They've ever been where you're looking at something and you can see that someone is scared. Yeah there's usually in all the great players. It doesn't happen to ben and ben eight himself alive there. I just the. I guess the the kid looking at his feet thing. I understand the at the point. But i think in sports we have enough examples of guys. Who certain guys who get better in the biggest spot certain desert stay the same inserting guys who get five to ten percent worse. Which is all that separates the great from the all time greats that when we get a piece of kong not speculation concrete evidence that oh what lebron did in twenty eighteen with those calves post kyri. Katie could have done something similar. That's valuable for katie. And you knew it. Evidently before i did you were certain of it. I wasn't like i did want see because you're he was drafted into the team and they got rust. He then shows the team with steph and clay he then shows the team with kyrie and then they winning harden so. It's not even like the we had snapshots we didn't even have moments of it now. We have a series of it against a great team dan. He was celebrated in a way after game. Five and game seven in a way he's never been celebrated before universally kevin durant was like more celebrated than him winning finals. Mvp and winning a championship. Oh boy believe. That's an indictment of the people viewing not of him. i think his talent is so singular. Nick that i'm a bit shocked to hear. You say that kevin durant as the lead player on a team can't make just about anyone feel championship. Good the way that lebron did you know when when we knew he was gonna lose in the finals but he what did he end up doing ended up shooting that one year. I don't know what year it was where he ended up shooting thirty five percent but he was taking forty shots playing irresponsible basketball for him. He plays smart basketball. He was playing reckless inefficient basketball. But we all felt like he could do that. I didn't need to see it did you. Well yeah we'll with lebron no because we had seen it no senate because we had seen it from lebron for seven years in cleveland. I like you can say. Because he's an all time great he could do it. Kobe couldn't do this. Cohen couldn't kobe tried. He could like koby. Couldn't do it as great as he was the three years of kobe's career he didn't have a hall of famer alongside him. He missed the playoffs. Once out of the from the two other years scored a bunch of points couldn't couldn't carry. I felt like durant showed you it bouncier bounce. There could have carried them through the championship. Your art just to be clear. Nick your argument is if i haven't seen it. It can't be so no my argument. Is that if you haven't seen it. You don't know it is so in sports you aren't you're just you're definitively saying you knew it but the reason is no the what i know is his greatness naked. I know is that you're telling me that kevin durant because for ten years. He has never done. Never been on a team where he's the only guy because he has never been on a team where he's the only time guy that he can't be an all time great. Who carries a team. He didn't do it with bus broke. I mean what they were grades to. God you know they were great. What do you mean. He didn't do it. He got further than this and last night we broke. He got further than here with westbrook. The last time we saw him in a similar situation he was up. Three one against golden state. They lost the next three and then he left him went to golden state. So he didn't do it. I mean he got to the finals but he didn't do it. He got further than here. What do you mean didn't do what pin eliminated in the second round. I mean what you saw in game five is something i've never seen from kevin durant before i mean we're all sitting here trying got you've seen it seen him carry around. Jeff greene the reason. You've never seen it as because he's never been on a team where there isn't a second gosh right but we saw for a night and he looked incredible. Like the best kevin durant i've ever seen. He's looked i mean. I don't know what to tell you guys like he's looking pretty great the entirety of his career under all circumstances. There's also a season where he didn't have a second guy was twenty thirteen. fourteen russell. Westbrook got hurt ahead of the season and he had a won the mvp that year. It had multiple games raise in the forties. He carried oklahoma city deep into the playoffs that year which considering he was without russell westbrook for most of it was really damn impressive. The hold on to be fair. Chris that russ did not miss. That spoil. Season russ was there for the playoffs. Durant in oklahoma city played one full series without russell westbrook. It was against memphis after. Patrick beverley blew out. Messed up. Russell's knee in the first round against houston so. I'm not sure what year you're talking about. In in comparison but rut katie only play one playoff series ever without russ in st was the second round against memphis and he played one in golden state without steph. It was against the spurs but he also obviously had claimed. I it is it is very. It is surprising to me. Dan that like you having watched sports as long as you add are totally discounting the to me. You're discounting the mental aspect of expectations. Pressure and circumstances like i think there is no arguments to be made in the world that by an identity. Peyton manning is a far better quarterback than tom brady except for the fact that one day clearly up to his game repeatedly in the big spots and the other guy had some of his worst moments in biggest spots. That's not small sample size luck. That is some people rise the agent some people don't and or durant when there was the built in the building confidence of knowing. If i don't have it tonight my other guys can carry me. That changes the circumstances to allow you to achieve at least me and not even dimension just the pure cana- guy whose body is built like that play forty eight minutes that you can't say you. There's no way he knew he could play forty eight and he did it often. Achilles drew marketable outside of barry bonds and perhaps peyton manning. I think you're going to have a hard time finding anyone who has historic kinds of excellence that you would make heart. Make these claims about chris. Paul harder james disagree on chris. Paul chris paul has been great but what about hardened dan tell me. Harden has not been good in the playoffs so far and i believe that if i gave him a representative sample over the course of his prime that would correct itself. I it has put like one hundred and forty playoff games. It's it's like more than it's almost two seasons in the play offs. I don't i don't know. I mean i i okay we just. We fundamentally disagree on that. I we can agree on..

"And just treat it like a regular game. Obviously, we know it's a game seven. Everybody's excited, notices a big game. But to come out here and play, uh, like we've been playing and just I mean, continue to stay calm, clear and connected, like coach says and out there on the court, and we didn't in a big way. So Kevin Trade them on. Congratulations. But Tim about Kevin Herder. He was wow. Yeah, No, I mean, he's a He's been doing that all year, guys. He's uh he can really shoot the ball. He can really put the ball on the floor and get to a spots. And he's a tall guy 67 who can raise should already you so You can. You can really do a lot and we needed all his points tonight and always playmaking ability tonight. Great. Congratulations. Getting the Atlanta Hawks think about this four games away from the NBA Finals, and I just want to say, uh What was the emphasis When you first came in to game seven? You had a game seven with you had a game with the Knicks. Now you have a game seven here. What would your emphasis in difference between series this series? Um, really, it is to push the pace we knew. There are big team alright, so really, to get those guys in transition and pushing, getting them tired, and, uh, really putting their bigs and pick and rolls and that was a big game for us, and they did a good job. Stop me a little bit in the first half as the game went on, we just kind of On in this match, and, um It's really It's really been the same thing in both series. Just trying to find that that, uh I mean, the thing that gets us over the hump and it was good to really find that in the second half and get it to Gallo and kept going and they really helped us push it over. I know that you want to celebrate this one. Pray. Um, but can you oblige me and take a quick look at this Eastern Conference finals and a matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks? Yeah. I mean, it's gonna be fine there a talented team. Um, there. They got a lot of a lot of guys on that side. We can play and it's gonna be a fun battle. Um, both teams are locked in and Um, it's gonna be fine. Trae Young 21 points, 10 assists and the Hawks wind up outscoring the Sixers 15 to 6 in clutch time and the Hawks come away with the win one. Oh, 3 96. They go to the Eastern Conference final against the Bucks. That series starts on Tuesday. The top two seeds are out in the Eastern Conference SportsCenter all night, ESPN Radio Durant tasted from hardened Frank court, right? 22 tie three to win. Durant, top of the art, guarded by holiday rises for along to air ball out of bounds with less than a second to go, And with that miss shot in overtime Saturday night, the Nets season came to an end losing in the Eastern Conference semis. That's Had a big three, at least on paper, ESPN analyst P. J. Carlesimo You have to be honest and looking at it. I love the team that they've put together, but let's be realistic. How many times did they play together in the regular season points? You had guys who were prone to injury guys who were later in their career. It's not like they're ready to, you know, get in a wheelchair and go home. But Injuries You had to think. Hey, injuries could be a problem with this super team, So I don't think it was an accident that all years. Steve Nash you by the way did an incredible job was patching is together and K D missed so many games. Kyrie miss so many games and, of course, James Miss Games down the stretch. Kevin Durant certainly tried to carry the team, but Wasn't enough to carry Brooklyn. I think he just proved if if there were any doubt he didn't make all NBA this year because you missed too many games. But he's the best player in the game right now. I think he and LeBron just are incredible what they do not what they do. Night in and night out. That should be enough. But what they do in big games what they do late in games when the game is to be decided they're going to step up and they're going to make plays. You hit it on the head. Kyra's out cannot play. James Harden couldn't play and Number of games. Then he comes back and plays on one leg, and it doesn't seem to matter Somehow. Some way he finds a way got 49 in game 5 48 in Game seven. You would think that would be enough, but that's how good the Milwaukee Bucks were. As good as Kevin Durant was good is the wrong word. As great as Kevin Durant was, It wasn't enough. Durant had been able to get some help. In other games, but earlier on ESPN Radio or Mike Wells notes. That was not the case this weekend in Game seven, and I remember several games ago, Kevin Durant had help. I mean, Jeff Green, bald out. I mean, Jeff Greene looked like he was back at Georgetown, playing alongside Roy Hibbert. Joe Harris shot well from the field several games ago. But tonight Jeff Green 13 minutes and a whole lot of zero didnt even attempt the shot out there finished with a doughnut. Joe Harris, who's Who a remarkable three point shooter, three of 10 from the field three of 93 pointers. He had 10 points, but they expect here is to have a higher shooting percentage. When you have an opportunity to spot up with Kevin Durant and James Harden out there on the basketball court, it was just a matter of Okay, Katie. And it hurt James Harden. Nobody else did anything. Rise and grind with Cage's 6 to 10 eastern time here on ESPN radio, much more on the end of the Nets season. Former net. Kerry Kittles joins the show at 8 30 eastern time here on ESPN Radio Right now, SportsCenter all night Phoenixes Jae crowder to inbound in the front court. They advance..
