I would hope not, Dan, because I'd go back to the pre season when he could have said I'm not showing up like we've seen guys do in the past and not play the regular season. Maybe it's sitting on the point where the frustration started to build and a teammate of his and roquan Smith got paid. Maybe it all did the cumulative effect, Dan. But I'd like to think and I'm going to give Lamar more credit than that to think that if considering legacy and on the line that he and his replaces, people don't talk about, but him and thinking about it with a chance to do something he hasn't done and get to a Super Bowl. I think he'd like to do it. I'm in the back of his mind. You don't want to get hurt, but I think he would have done it at the beginning, not the end. I think that he's probably just not fit and ready to play. You, of course, cover the Texans. They lost the number one pick. And we were wondering, in the moment, if you get the touchdown, now it's a fourth and 20. And you're going to go for a two point conversion. You're going to lose the number one overall pick. Now lovey Smith is trying to save his job and Davis mills is trying to save his job as the starting quarterback. I understand all those things. But if your management could you have somehow got a message down to say, let's run an elaborate two point conversion that we know might not succeed so we can get the number one number one pick there. Well, a lot of spread it out of the press box is a general manager and I knocked his ass out before he made the play call. That's what I had done. Dan, is there such thing as a crappy win that was it? Now. Of course. No doubt about it. Because number one is levy Smith wasn't saving his job. I guarantee you they knew going into that that he wasn't coming back because they didn't just wake up after the game said. I think we'll fire him. They knew going in that no matter what, even if they had a one by 40 Dan, he wasn't going to keep this job. So yeah, I would have said, first off, Davis mills, yeah, we want you to I know we want to showcase you, but I think we're going to run the inside zone read with Jeff Driscoll the whole game. That's how you control it 'cause you know, Dan, players and coaches are like, even if you know you're not gonna get fired or are, you're like, screw that. I'm gonna leave it all on the table and so are the players. Davis mills doesn't want you drafted Bryce young, or CJ Stroud. So, of course, they're gonna play it. Now, I gotta tell you, it sure as heck also look like the colts. I mean, when you jump up and the ball goes through your hands and you're going like that and completely missing, it's like, come on, get a stop on two, 4000. But yeah, I would have created it in the week leading up to it.

We just spent a great hour in studio with us, and I started the show by hammering down on the weekend as a whole. I mean, look, I know coming on the air after an NFL weekend, the idea is let me choose this one game you're talking about or that two game parlay, if you will, but didn't go your way that you're talking about, you know? I know usually we come on the air. I try to put a couple of thoughts together for you. But to me, the story of the weekend was the weekend as a whole. I mean, that really was it. And that's the way I started the show if you missed it. We just posted something on our Twitter feed. Also, there's our YouTube page, and then there is, of course, the Roku channel re airing is over and over again and our video on demand, the rich eisen show has a video on demand service for you, which we're greatly appreciative of our friends at Roku to put it all together for us. I know we haven't discussed the poll question, Chris, but I'd like to figure this out. Most disappointing weekend, okay? Okay. Cowboys. Cowboys. You got to put them on there, TJ. Rich, we made the playoffs. We're in the playoffs. I know we did feel good about it. Oh my God. Gotta put the cowboys there, and let me just tell you why. Okay, let me just tell you why. That defense is no pass rush right now. They couldn't get the Davis mills or Jeff Driscoll or Trevor Lawrence. That's two weeks in a row. That's two weeks in a row. And here comes Jalen hurts. And if you want to, as a Dallas cowboy, get past Tom Brady, who you're probably going to have to face, say all you want about the struggles of Tom Brady, but you let him sit back there and he can pick you apart. And at some point, the Buccaneers have put it all together. Maybe that might be 2023. I don't know. What was your favorite next week? I don't get it. I mean, the bears played, did you watch any of the bears eagles game? All of the snaps of them, sir. Well, all of this is probably should have won that game. Well, Justin Fields presents a problem that dak Prescott doesn't. How does that sound? Well, CD lam presents a problem that Chase claypool doesn't. That's correct. That's fair. And your boy Pollard and Zeke present problems. Similar to similar to David, I won't say Montgomery. Who's going to guard AJ Brown? I'll tell you what. This is going to be a problem for Dallas. Of course, I think you can win the game. Obviously, I totally think you can win the game, and I think you can win a couple playoff games too. I firmly believe it, but you're going to have to start getting a pass rush going in a way that we just haven't seen two plus weeks. And don't forget, Matt Ryan was carving you up before the fourth quarter roof caved in on Indianapolis. I mean, the AFC south has presented a problem for the cowboys all of a sudden that gives me pause. And they also blew a 17 point game on the road. And if we're going to torch the Raiders for doing that, I'll torch America's team. Are we going to torch the chiefs the same way we torch the cowboys? You know what? The chiefs have not had a good couple of weeks either. But they've walked out with the wins to use your phrase. It's funny, like last week, you're like, we don't need details in the headline, and this week now you'd like details in the headline. That wasn't this. That wasn't important. We crapped all over the cowboys last week for winning the game against this one team and I'm not saying you, but the national media keeps the same and they had to go to overtime. And that is my own. The chiefs do not have a consistent enough running game and if they're going to have to depend on one, I think they gave the ball to Isaiah Pacheco a couple of times in a row and then he fumbled and then he disappeared and McKinnon can run it too, I guess. McKinnon's been he has been. I think he's going to win some fantasy weeks. But I want the keys. The cowboys, I'd like the cowboys on that list. The colts have to be on that list. You want to talk about a horrible weekend. Patriots are on that list. I'm actually relieved we lost, to be honest. Why? Because we stink. So what do we got to be the 7 seed and lose by 40 in the playoffs again? At least this way we can lose out. You'd rather not. And then have a better draft pick. But Mina Dax struggles, then they were able to kind of eke out the win there. What do you make of all this? Yeah, I mean, this isn't why they struggled entirely, but I'm beginning to get a be a little bit concerned about the injuries. In particular, because their injuries that are sort of clustering at certain positions, talk about offensive line in a second, but the Los Anthony Brown, not too long ago, one of the starting cornerbacks for the season. They had already lost Jordan Lewis before the season. In this game, you see the drop off with Calvin Joseph giving up a big play very early on. And then on the offensive line, you alluded to, you know, Terrence Steele going out. Josh bell comes in. He struggles, arguably, the biggest reason why one of the biggest reasons why they were able to put together that drive was Jason Peters coming in. Hopefully he can play that well in relief. This is going to be a problem as we look to the playoffs that teams like Philadelphia are ahead of the playoffs in December because those are teams that are capable of hunting mismatches. And when you lose players, there are more mismatches to be found at key positions. Yeah, I'm looking at this dak Prescott photo in our studio here. That was me watching the game just like head in the hands. It gave me a headache. Exactly. Well, Stephen a loved it. So Dan, let's take it on the field though yesterday. What are the tape show you about Dax struggles? That he's trying too hard? Because I would tell you that deck has been a guy that has always, for the most part, seen the field really well in cleanly and right now he's not. And it's in very simple things. You're going to see a three step concept day one install. We call this lion double slanted the bottom of the screen. The worst coverage for it is covered three 'cause that flat defender is already outside. In between the outside sling. You never throw the outside slant in that situation, but deck does. For some reason, then this bottom concept is stick up top you have a flat route and a stick route. That outside flat defenders the read. If he goes outside, you throw them high. Excuse me, lo, if you throw, goes, how you throw it low. I mean, that's a very simple first down read for dak all of a sudden, he holds onto the football. That's the fumble, the very next plays that interception that, in many ways, should have ended the game. And I don't know if it's he's pressing or trying to do too much because he knows the offensive line can not pass protected. It's just not a good past protecting unit. Does he feel the lack of production from the perimeter players that sometimes just the production goes down in games? It's really odd to see a guy that is a good player and that has had a strength of just seeing things with such clear vision seem to struggle with seeing very simple things. Yeah, for me, like watching this game a little bit, I was at a ten year volleyball game watching my daughter get busy, but in between, I was thinking it's just such an immature performance. And yeah, we can look at the Dallas cowboy defense and say, the Texans scored 23 points. This defense is to me watching the film is the reason they won the game. Standing up and boring they neck and a lot of situations where they had unfavorable field position because of this offense. Where's the explosiveness? This is exactly what the Dallas Cowboys did towards the end of the season last year from an offensive standpoint. Everybody kept putting graphics and stats up about their number one offense in the league and they gaining all of these yards. This is exactly how they looked when everybody thought that they would get bounced the first week of the playoffs. I thought some way they would have a resurgence. This team and to your point, Dan, it's time for dak to overcome those things. Like you are going to suffer injuries. You're going to have deficiencies this time of the year. The San Francisco forty-niners playing with their third string quarterback right now. You have to overcome it for you got to figure out a way to make this team a little bit more explosive or they'll be home watching it with us again. "And we back all right First before we get started. It is beginning of september. These waved and release players over to the afc south. Start off with the houston texans because they did release not shots. They actually kept quarterback to shine wasn't on a roster. No this isn't a roster cut but by keeping the quarterback on his roster. The texans are using a spot on their fifty three man roster a roster on a player they don't expect to play for them this season so that is something interesting to keep in mind as we know watching face twenty two lawsuits alleging of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior. I don't know if we have to say that for legal purposes or not. But that's going on for people that are happy to be listening to this podcast. And don't know anything about that. And i do feel like the steelers can take advantage of their defense. Move the ball against them. So i think it's a favorable matchup for the steelers in this game and then defensively. It's going to be very tough to stop. Russell wilson and i think that you know again it all depends on the offensive lines you know in these games because of the steelers offensive line is not good. Then seattle's even gonna take advantage of that. And also i think regardless of you know how seattle improve their offensive line. It's going to be tough for them to stop that pass rush and russell wilson's going to be running the ball a lot. I think in this game. So i think this is kind of a positive match-up for the steelers. Also crowds gonna be rocking. It's a sunday night game. So that's definitely going to you know. Play an impact in this game as well so i do think that the defense is a positive play in this game and i do think that their offense will put up some in this game so i think it's a positive match-up there so that's my thoughts on the week. Six matchup against seattle's moving onto week seven. They have a bye week so then moving onto week eight they go to to take on the browns. They did not win their matchup. If the defense is healthy enough. I think that they will get some turnovers. They'll get some saks in this game. But i do expect. The browns put up some points as well. Even amazon doesn't have balls like that. They have some kind of partnership building. You a hundred percent. They want the taxpayers to pay one hundred percent for eight games a year. I'm not. I don't believe in preseason games. I don't even talk about eight caves year when when ford field was built in downtown detroit and they move from the silverdome which was out in the suburbs to downtown detroit. Everybody talked about how this is going to revitalize the city and helped bring the city back. And it's great for the city and i can't tell you what deal they ultimately struck the fords and i think it was a partnership of some kind of deal. It sits empty three hundred plus days a year. okay. I use only so many things you can put in a downtown indoor football stadium. Okay once in a while. You have a massive concert but there aren't too many acts that can fill a place that holds eighty thousand people and then you have eight football games and now and then you you get a bowl game that they throw in there or high school championship where they put it in a couple of hundred people in the stands. It is mostly stadiums are mostly vacant. They do not revitalize cities they do not create restaurant opportunities and everyone. There's eight games a year baseball stadiums. You can make a little bit more of an argument. Because there's eighty games a year but even baseball stadium sit empty that majority of a calendar year so tell them taxpayers. they somehow have to pay for. It's good for them. Is one of the great boondoggles that football teams have been putting on. 'em mike and bob you know full. Well what comes on the other side of it. Well if you don't build it for us we could always go to a city that will bill for us. There's always this ransom thing this this this whole issue now it shutting him down the like we would move to another city so on the one. You're saying we're part of the community was such a big part that we want you to pay one hundred percent of but on the other hand if you don't pay a hundred percent of it we're not that big. Daniel jones is actually better than that. So kenny golladay was really good with. Maybe he's better than that. I think one would certainly hope he last year he was good with david. Blaustein jeff driscoll whatever. So that's just my point there so this might be a pretty good comp. Another another guy that you know. You're taking the unproven. Elsa lot who are taking the unproven jomar chase or if somewhat proven brandon. I you over kennedy golladay. I wonder if the hamstring injury is is part of that as well of course it is. You know it's it's the combination of the uncertainty of daniel jones. The injury risk after he missed the majority of the season last year the fact that he's now banged up again to start the season. This giants receiving coulter has a lot of moving parts to it. You know sterling. Shepherd has been a very underrated wide. Receiver cadaverous tony. We don't know what exactly he's going to do you know. Certainly he's fantastic with the bomb hands. But will they get enough targets and opportunities l. darius slayton when daniel jones was at his best was playing out of this world as rookie for what his role was opportunity. And then you factor. In the district's there'll be a run for steam because on barclay with jason garrett offense should be the leader of back you know. So it's it's it's so up in the air. You know i. I originally started with golladay somewhere around twenty three to twenty five. You know he was in that range and then just slowly moving down and move me down and we'll be down now. The injury easy Down and so. He's just somebody that. I don't want to draft a lot of and i have him on my dynasty rosters in. It's okay you know. He is what he is. It's hard to trade him for value at this point because of the injury but i just don't think he's anything more than a number three fantasy receiver. You're gonna have to bank on him scoring touchdowns. I don't know if he's going to do that with. He's he's one of the more format dependent receivers in fantasy at least in my projections. I've got him actually as a number two receiver in non pr. But he's never never earned one hundred. Twenty targets never had more than seventy catches in a season. And now he's i don't i don't know that he necessarily is going to see a lot. More targets in this offense Let's go a little faster here. We get to Late round six and into around seven. We've got exciting but still got some exciting players. You guys tell me if i'm wrong but i still think there's a ton of offsides still on the board. We haven't reached the point.
