TikTok reaches deal that would give Oracle oversight of U.S. operations

"And Tick Tock recently made headlines Everywhere when Resin Donald Trump signed an executive order. That would essentially ban the Chinese owned APP in the US for national security reasons. Unless it sells its operations here to an American company. And of course, if that were to happen. We would have nowhere to go to see a million potatoes singing. To Adele. And that would be a national tragedy. This week deal actually emerged between TIKTOK and American company Oracle but some people like Zachary say trump's tiktok policy effectively changes. Nothing. The argument goes like this. It will do little to protect Americans data from the Chinese government because there are still plenty of other ways China could get that data that this move is just a new kind of security theater basically. The hard work of data security according to this actually lies elsewhere. So, Zachary TIKTOK has been banned in Indiana a few other countries, but it's still pretty popular for now it's the most popular video sharing app i. can see why it seems like fun and there are mental creative. They're short I mean the whole nature of the medium has their time limited. What happened with Tiktok this week what happened this week? Should be clear but isn't. Basically, in August, the trump administration ordered via executive order whose legality remains highly questionable that the Chinese owner of Tiktok, a company called Bite Dance. Divest itself of Owning Tiktok within ninety days or face the prospect that tiktok would be shut down in the United States. I broke the deal I said you can't do business in the United States, which is at least potentially within the power of the US federal government based on national security concerns based on national security and the logistics are complicated that you probably could order apple and other people and servers that are hosting tiktok. that. They couldn't do it and it would defacto make it impossible for Tiktok to function. So that is what began a process where the owner of Tiktok, again, a Chinese company sought an alternative way to their cell, the US portion of Tiktok or what ended up happening major deals Rocking Wall Street this morning pushing futures higher. We find an American technology partner Oracle beat Microsoft and become the technology partner for TIC TACS US operations although will not. receive its coveted algorithm so that all took talks data would be kept in the United States on servers owned by an American company and not by Chinese company because the whole point of this was that all these people using Tiktok, these tens of millions, hundreds of millions that data was potentially vulnerable to being used and therefore misused by the Chinese government. How so So the fear was because technology companies in China by Chinese law are required if. By the Chinese government to turn over data relevant data that the Chinese government could tell the parent company of Tiktok, hand us all of your user data which user data of again tens of millions of Americans. and. Then China would have that data. So that was the concern right and and that's a legitimate fact the Chinese government could order that. The problem is, of course, one via our court system, an American court can order or prosecutor can subpoena data. From our companies. So it's not like what you and I do on Google or what we do on any technology provider is somehow. Unavailable. To government if government decides that it's in its interest to get it not to mention the the various many non-government actors, the vacuum, the stuff up and use it for their own purposes that is even more important I think probably more relevant to the China issue which is. Does it matter whether the data is in this case, potentially house by Oracle massive US hardware and software company versus being housed by servers in China. In terms of the ability of the Chinese government to obtain that data, it wanted to obtain it because not just third parties that hoover up data and use it in the whole buying selling and the data market, but just spying tools. Whether it's the NSA in the National Security Agency in the United States or various Israeli cybersecurity and or cyber spying companies or the Chinese government. Most of this data isn't that secure. Not. Like. Triple encrypted quantum encrypted defense department level communications. So likely true that if the Chinese government really wanted my teens Tiktok data, it doesn't really matter whether that data's House on servers in China owned by Chinese company or whether it was housed on American servers on buying American company. So I guess, then how do we get to this point? How did you know given what you just said why has this become such a big issue? How did it start? Yeah it's a good question I I'm not sure. There's a precise answer. It's part of a whole continuum of the trump administration in particular identifying China as a proximate threat to the United States and a whole series of ways competitively in terms of trade practices hence the hundreds of billions of dollars of Chinese imported goods that have been subject to American tariffs. It's part of a multi year campaign against this massive Chinese telecom equipment company called Wa wa, which has been a leader in next generation five G. Telecom equipment in a way that again, some of the same concerns have existed which is. That the Chinese government would would use the production of that equipment as a way to spy on who met from purchase adequate. And Look a few years ago. There was a a forced sale of gay dating APP Grindr, which was also owned by a Chinese company, and so there was an earlier precedent of forcing a Chinese company to sell an American APP Social App. Because, of data concerns and finally, there's the fact that for years long predating the trump administration. China has not allowed American social media companies like facebook. To function in China. So there's the tit for tat. You know you don't let our social media functioning companies function there. Why should we let yours function here? There's Several year campaign against China which the trump administration's pursued but I think has a good deal of democratic support I. Mean if it's close to a bipartisan sentiment that China, China's a threat as anything we have right now. Why Tiktok? Suddenly became a thing I may partly have to do with the fact that it suddenly became a very big deal in the United States. I mean, this was not a company that had any footprint several years ago and suddenly as. The APP does your so it may have had to do with something that got really big and is very noticeable. Salsa not that economically important. So a lot of people would be royally pissed off Tiktok were banned. It's not like tiktok is. An integral component. To the US economy either during covid or without covid. So it's an easier target. We'll be right back. Everyone wants to become a better leader this groundbreaking new book how to lead shows you how David M Rubenstein is one of the visionary founders of the Carlisle Group and host of the David Rubenstein Show where he speaks to leaders from every walk of life about who they are, how they define success and what it means to lead. Where does the national security aspect of it come in? Is it because there's concern about people who worked at the Defense Department or the military whoever having to talk in in use in their households or people in the Defense Department are not allowed to use tiktok certainly not on their phones. For before this although they may have teenagers who That's vulnerability as well. So it wasn't primarily about like US government employees who might have sensitive data that tiktok would be the back door way that the Chinese government would spy on them but it was generalized sense of any foreign government that is using private American citizen data potentially for nefarious purposes represents a national security threat. Now, it clearly has not represented the kind of national security threat in the estimation of the White House right now when it's Russian. Manipulation of social media accounts the same principle should or would apply right. If you'RE GONNA ban, Tiktok you'd probably want to take action against the a variety of Russian media enterprises that are attempting to manipulate and hoover up American user data. Some of that data's you mentioned earlier in terms of third party is available to anybody for a price just because there's a marketplace for data. Which I think either most of us aren't aware of or frankly most probably don't care if politicos data on this podcast gets sold to fourteen vendors so that it can sell you and me products based on our other computer activity most people. Either like that, or don't care about that. But the national security concern is simply because it's a foreign government that could potentially. Use, our search history or browsing history nefarious. And again a, that might be true but be it's likely that all this kind of data is obtainable irrespective of whether or not a company called TIKTOK. Happens to have access to a lot of it. It's really interesting. So into this whole story comes oracle, you know huge hardware software firm but how did they get involved here? Yes. Oracle is is a multibillion dollar firm that has had the same public profile as Microsoft or Amazon or facebook or apple because most of its business is to other large companies, you know you and I don't tend to go out and buy Oracle piece of hardware because we don't need a hundred and fifty thousand dollars server or. Network system for our employees. They're largely corporate provider throw a huge provider to the Defense Department in terms of cheer equipment and material, and they're huge software company. They're one of the early Silicon Valley success stories and the billionaire founder Larry Ellison has been probably more conservative than not I don't know that I buy into the whole. This is a reward versus. A snub to the other potential main acquirer or partner for Tiktok, which was rumored to be Microsoft but this is an unusual. This doesn't usually fit oracle's business model. Well, that's that's interesting. So what is their interest in getting involved here perceived to be I'm not one hundred percent clear about that I mean look at could allow them to. Have a little bit more of a consumer facing brand. Again, I mean Oracle's. Primarily a software company primarily a database company. Maybe this could help them increase their databases. There's no way that this is a natural fit for goal. But at the same time north this a huge cost for Oracle, maybe it'll produce some American jobs. I mean. They're looking for growth just like everybody's looking for growth, and once you get to be the size of Oracle. Growth gets harder some of they're also looking for a DIFFERENT INDUSTRY TO BE President Chore? So. What exactly did they given? What did they get here that as of this conversation is not one hundred percent clear off so it was presented as or go by tiktok. That is not the case or at least it's not the case now and as possible. The deal will be scuttled or change given that all of this has to be approved by the government has to be approved by committee. Called Syfy S, which is the committee in charge of looking at global deals in terms of US national security, but it would seem that right now. The parent company of Tiktok saw own TIKTOK and get some of the economic benefits of TIKTOK. This Chinese company called by dance and that Oracle in turn will get a massive licensing deal to house Tiktok data and information on its own. Servers and using its own software. So the concern that the Chinese government would have access to that data would be allayed meeting under this agreement arrangement because the data would be managed by and it's housing would be arranged by a US company. The Chinese government could order by dance to turn over but by dance itself wouldn't actually have access to that data. It's interesting I mean based on what you said before it's they're they're they're moving this data from place a, it's not going to be in a different place and I guess the Chinese government will no longer have a key to the door. But as you said before there's many different ways that either the Chinese government or a lot of other. State or private actors can get hold on more or less any data they want to these days right? which kind of raises the question for point of all, this is ENA. It's certainly true. It would make it a little more challenging to get that data under that kind of arrangement. It seems like this a big fight over a big company. That's not actually really about. The literal subject of the conflict here. Yeah. It is totally fair to say that whatever the imbroglio about tiktok has very little to do with tiktok. And everything to do with US policy toward China. And the trump administration looking for some High profile optic to be able to say we're we're being tough on China and protecting American citizens. Again, the oddity of Tiktok is given that so many of its users or young adults. Who Don't vote although who would be? Extremely, Acetate it. If they woke up tomorrow and there's no TIKTOK meeting, it's probably not. The most popular move if what you're trying to do is gain support during a presidential election. So it's not entirely clear what constituency the served there wasn't like a huge congressional clamor for Oh my God. We're all big imperilled by these fifteen second videos. So where do you think things go from here in terms of into in terms of the real story behind all this in terms of the U., S., China relationship and the increasing in. them of that. So I think to some degree regardless of who wins the presidential election. there. Is a train that's left the proverbial station of increasing. Distrust and animosity between the United States and China. But within the context of an incredible amount of economic interdependence that you cannot just snap your fingers and several or at least not without massive massive harm to each part of that equation both the United States and China, and that's that's pretty unprecedented. Right? Right. That's like the Cold War analogy doesn't work because there was no economic relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union nineteen. Fifty S

Growing Your Photo Business with Dixie Dixon

"Able to welcome back to another episode of this week in photo I'm your host. Frederik. Van Johnson today I have the honour and pleasure of sitting down with the illustrious Nikon shooting. Dixie Dixon, she talked about world. He's got he's working on what letter here we're GonNa talk about Nikon and all that good stuff dixie welcome to the show. Are you doing amazing thanks so much for that great intro I. Appreciate it. It's all true. It's all. You're awesome. I'm excited to be here today and chat with you. Cool. Well, let's talk about stuff. So you know we've just you know full disclosure you and I did an interview before over on the sky loon behind the scene podcast that I also host but I wanted to invite you onto this show is well because I want to. kind of slightly different direction and. Introduce you to this week and photo audience as well as the behind the scene audience if you subscribe to behind the scene search for it and go subscribe to that one too. So Yeah. Good stuff. Who is Dixie Dixon? Ukraine. So I've seen your name in fact. I. was just doing a livestream with a friend of mine who's also a Nikon shooter and I said I gotta go I. GotTa Hang Up because I'm getting ready to talk to Dixie Dixon and he's like I was like, have you heard of Dixie Dixon? He's like Have I heard of Dixie Dixon. It's like, have you heard of Prince? So. Tell us how did you get from where you were to being kind of a household name in the in the photography world? I appreciate that so much. Gosh it's been a really crazy adventure. I've had photography jobs. So I started out shooting the cheesy little league pictures shot with film actually was the Nikon F G camera, and so we'd be doing all those cheesy soccer ball like posing with a soccer balls and Just, the team photos and stuff like that, and then I ended up joining the yearbook staff and my image ended up making the cover of the yearbook. So for me, it was like a way to get out of my shell a little bit. I'm very much a sort of an introvert. So it was sort of felt rebellious and helped me get to know people and communicate and have fun and so that for me was like a moment. Wow maybe I could actually do this for a living. So I ended up going off to college I would have loved to majored in photography, but I really thought. Maybe I should figure out the business so I can actually figure out how to make a living doing this. So I ended up studying. Entrepreneurship at TCU and fell in love with the business side and then I ended up studying abroad with a world renowned fashion photographer I literally googled fashion photography study. Abroad. And there was one program through Syracuse University. So I got to go and study with Jeff Licata and listen over in London and Prague and do my first big fashion shoot, and that is when I really fell in love with the fashion photography side of things. So yeah, it's fun adventure I felt like it was yesterday but it's It's crazy how fast time flies and I got a job sheeting TV show and it just all came together. I have so many questions like I'm I'm curious how it works from. A lot of a lot of the twitter audience. Sure as the same question like the. One one path to success as a photographer seems to be fashion right? You got to be a fashion slash commercial photographer. You gotta be that person walking on said and you're in charge and you know the House music stumping in the background and models are doing their thing. There's a wind machine. Blowing. And somebody's up there like stevie nicks with the white thing. So how do you? How do you get there like what's what's the path from leaving school in entrepreneurship going through the internship and seeing how it's done from behind the scenes to building a brand like your brand and being sponsored and representing brands like Nikon? Yes. So it's been I always feel like as an entrepreneur you think you're just GonNa, go a nice gradual progression upward, but it's like. It's an interesting. It's an interesting journey if you will. There's ups and downs along the way. I. Mean my first few years I was shooting everything I was shooting weddings and portrait's and product. If anyone called me to do a shoot I knew how to do it. I said Yes to almost everything yeah. Just to just to pay the bills and whatnot so I ended up up to different websites My fashion website and then my commercial website I mean my wedding website and portrait website. So basically, when people would reach out and they wanted portraits, weddings, I was sent him to that website, and then all the fashioned stuff on my fashioned website was all three work that I had shocked my portfolio. So ultimately, you have to show the type of work that you WANNA be shooting. So I was wanting to shoot the fashion work so you have. To, go out and shoot that work, and then you're gonNA, eventually start attracting those type of clients. So then I started shooting for modeling agencies, they would do like paid portfolio shoots for their models. It started out as free portfolio shoots and then they ended up paying me to shoot their models for awhile and do that quite a lot and then that led to like two boutiques and showing them my work and ask him if I could collaborate.

Are your employees coping with this ok?

"Are For this week's episode Arnold talking about something called terror management theory. Is a social psychology theory created more than thirty years ago by Professor Jeff Greenberg at the University of Arizona it basically says that when facing our own mortality, we've human beings attempt to eliminate the associated feelings of terror by doubling down on the values. We already hold specifically the ones that had meaning to our lives and by investing in people who seem to subscribe to those same values. Great so is on a leadership podcast. Will. Because over the last six months covid nineteen is forced millions of us to face our on mortality. And ERTA lesson those feelings of dread. Every one of US subconsciously is doing things that allow us to feel like we're valuable contributors to a meaningful world. After. All. If I'm an important worker, an entrepreneur, a teacher, a scientist, a doctor apparent. I'm much more capable of believing that some part of me will carry on after death that might impact might be enduring. Because of Corona virus were reminded of death all the time. This will react in ways that support the values we already hold dear and will gravitate towards leaders whose actions appear to support those values to. It also means people who already have a difficult time believing they contribute value to a meaningful world or even though we live in a meeting for wall to begin with are likely struggling. The more people struggle with this, the less likely to be successful at mitigating those feelings of terror and the more likely they are to interpret difficult but manageable situations, tasks and responsibilities as overwhelming. These people will also need to assign blame and because assigning blame to the cause of their actual fears isn't really helpful. They'll find people to blame for the frustrations they experience in those overwhelming situations, tasks and responsibilities think about your current group of direct reports I bet there's one or two of fit this bill. By turning on the news, we can see the negative impact of this phenomenon on the growing political divide in America but not taking into account can also undermine your ability to lead support develop your team. If your leader a people and what you're hearing now is resonating with you. The first thing to do is really understand that everyone deals with mortality differently and should try to meet your people where they are rather than having the same expectations of their grit as you did a year ago. And I think people should be let off the hook for the expectations of their job when people have a job to do the expectations to get done are perfectly appropriate even during a pandemic. But I'm saying is that some people who were able to move through challenges with easy year-ago might need a bit more compassion now and leaders who provide it will have the teams who bounced back the quickest months. The fears truly gone.

Should You Offer Chat Support in Your Business?

"Like I mentioned that the top of the episode chat support is a great solution. We've been doing chat support under Ninja for over four years. Now we offer twenty, four, seven life support, and it's one of the hallmarks of our company. It's one of the big reasons why our customers stay customers and the reason people choose us over our competitors but there was a lot of work that needed to be done before we were ready to offer chat support. There's some foundational work you need to do and things you need to consider before you make that switch. It's also important to understand that once you offer chat support. It's one of those things that you want to offer it. It's really hard for you not to offer it again. So once people get used to a certain level of support, you might start with email. Then you'll at chat support if things are not going right or you didn't set yourself up properly and then you remove chat support this disgruntled some customers and really can affect their experience and mega make him feel really took something away from them that they're used to maybe enjoyed. So there are a few things I want to highlight that will help you get prepared to launch chance support in your business the right way. First of all, why would you want to offer chat support in the first place? Why don't you just stick to email more and more every single day every single month every single year chat support is becoming the new phone support. Prefer to chat. Now, text than to get on a phone call it's often faster to solve a problem get questions answered through chat suppor- think about it most people don't make phone calls or take phone calls or get phone calls that often but they sent a lot of text messages and facebook messages and what's happened all that stuff. It's a way for you to go back and forth with your customer live and get them a win in that moment in the moment, they reach you the moment they visit your website allows them to make a decision quickly rather than the hit your website, and then they're like, oh, I, have a couple questions. Let me see if they have. An e mail or contact form and most people don't even go that far they're just leave the website and check out a competitor. But if you have chat support allows them to say hey, I got a quick question. Let me just ask right now there's somebody right there and that question could be very simple. It can be somebody overlooked it could be something that's on your website or on your your sales pages, and the answer that question could make them feel confident enough to make a purchase right then and there it's also a huge benefit a huge benefit for your customers that already paying you. They feel like you always have their back and you're just one message away. And flat out chat support is just fun. You can send him Ho- Jeez and Jeff's funny images, and you can really express your brand and your style through Chad. The email really doesn't do as well. A lot of our branding is done through chance support a lot of our customers become customers because we're like everything like your style on chat your team really made me feel comfortable and welcomed in a professional yet casual way. So what are some of the things that you need to consider before you say Yep, let me go ahead and go chat support. The first thing I want to say to you is a Lotta people think okay. What software do I need to chat with? You know there's a lot of chat software out there whether it's intercom. Or. Fresh desk or Zen desk or help scout there's so many out there. Right and all the offers are pretty much assume depends on your needs not gonNa really get into that right now that's the easy part. But what are the things you need to consider is your customer base where is your customer base? Do you serve only a national market the covers maybe A. Few time zones or your customers international around the world. If that's the case you need to make sure you're able to offer your chat support twenty, four seven throughout the day. So you can cover the entire globe that means having at least three people on chat or on your customer support team. Each of them have an eight hour shift. Now, some people they start with five. It is week of chat versus seven days a week, and that's a good way to get into the game. But if your customers are global, you need to consider the fact that you can't just offer chat certain hours of the day. Those hours could just be in the middle of the night for somebody else and it's just really not a benefit at all you also. Have to take a look at if you have the manpower, the staff to be able to handle the amount of chats are getting. Now if you're on email support right now, this is not a good measure. Why? Because email support takes a little bit effort for the customer to actually send an email they'll probably go through a few other hoops or maybe how the tutorials or Do, a little bit of Reading for trying to figure it out themselves before they email, and this is while I will start with mail because it lowers the number of support requests but also drastically lowers the number of presell emails or chats or you'll messages. So as soon as you offer chat on your website, it's Gong to invite more conversation. That's a good thing because you're. Getting in touch with their customers and you're making connections, but it's also something you need to consider because if you were getting, let's say a hundred emails a day in email support. That's no indication of how many messages are going to get in chat because that's really going to open up the floodgates because now it's easily accessible. People can easily chat with you and send a message. It's not always easy to predict, but the traffic to your website is really a good indicator forgetting getting over one hundred thousand visitors to your website. You're going to have a good amount of those people chatting with you asking questions out say ten percent is a good measure at least ten percent people are going to reach out and ask questions especially, if you prompt them to ask questions, which is really cool. You noon chant. Throwing the pricing you can ask, Hey, you got any questions about pricing or choosing the right plan for yourself chataway with us. If you think about that, if you have if you have one hundred, thousand visitors every month that means ten thousand people chat with you every month now you might think that's a law is a lot and it's better free to over estimate and be ready for the traffic.

Apple reveals lower cost watch and updated iPad

"Maybe with the event's title, we should have known it would-be. Short. Tuesday's time flies event flew past at just over one hour, four pieces of hardware, basically, as well as new services and the services bundle we're focusing on hardware today. Surprising, absolutely, no one apple on Tuesday announced apple. Watch series sex running through the hardware. The S six system and package packs a new dual core processor based on the eighth thirteen bionic an iphone eleven it runs twenty percent faster than series five apps launch twenty percent faster. It's the first. Apple. Watch to include the you one ship, an ultra wideband antennas. The series six always on retina display is up to two point five times brighter outdoors than Apple Watch series five. Both the same all day eighteen hour battery life is before and can hit full charge in one point five hours. To features focused on during the devices introduction where the always on all tinder and the blood oxygen sensor. Not sure why always on is important for an intimidator unless you're worried about rock climbing in your sleep Apple says the always on ultimate provides real time elevation all day long by using a new more power efficient, barometric, ultimate her along with GPS and nearby Wi fi networks. This feature allows for the detection of small. Changes above ground level up and down to the measurement of one foot. And can be shown as a new watch face complication or workout metric. More life and death or the blood oxygen sensor and is associated APP. Apple says, series six measures the oxygen saturation of the users blood. So they can better understand their overall fitness and wellness. Oxygen saturation or S P o two represents the percentage of oxygen being carried by red blood cells from the lungs to the rest of the body and indicates how well this oxygenated blood is being delivered throughout the body. And how it works is really cool according to Apple's presentation. The sensors are basically checking the color of the blood as it passes by. That color indicates how oxygenated the blood is, which is free again. Amazing. Speaking of colors for the to apple watches I've owned I've chosen brushed aluminum. It's easy to match with just about anything. But if you have a signature color or don't care about matching or. Planned to have plenty of apple watches on hand to put on your wrist Apple Watch now comes in the couple of colorful colors. For. The first time says apple a new blue color. Silver Space Grey and gold aluminum case options along with the product Red Apple. Watch. With exclusive matching, bright red bands stainless steel models are now available and graphite and an updated classic Yellow Gold Color Apple. Watch edition is available in natural and space black titanium. Series six also says Sayonara to ceramic while apple didn't mention it during the event. A piece from macrumors says, that is no more. As is the way the arrival of new apple watches also meant the arrival of new bands. This time though whole new bands, not just new colors. Sport Band makes way for so loop. No clasp. No buckle. Solo Lupus a continuous end stretchable ban design that says comes into materials, soft silicone and braided yarn. Nine sizes for those. Apples supposed to have a size guide on its site. Checking Apple side it looks like Sport Band is just making room not seeding the field. Both sport? Band and Solo loop available to order as of now, there's also said to be a first of its kind leather link that wraps around the rest held in place with flexible molded magnets. Nikewatch gets everything we've talked about already plus a new Nike face and new colors for the Nike Sport Band and Nike Sport Loop. Same goes for Apple Watch air MAS- as far as improvements the hardware it's stainless steel cases come and silver or space black paired with single or Dubna, tour styles and an assortment of vibrant new colors. Now about the only thing predictions got wrong for Apple Watch as E was its name. leakers had thought that that was shorthand that it'd be called something simple like apple. Watch. Apple Watch S E is the budget chronometers name. Well mid range chronometer Apple Watch series three is the true budget model still out there selling for one hundred, ninety, nine bucks. An apples press release apple CEO Jeff Williams was quoted as saying Apple Watch S E combines elements of the series six design with the most essential features of Apple Watch, all at a more affordable price. No Blood Oxygen Sensor and no, always on display. It does sport the always on all temperature though because apple is taking this sleep climbing thing seriously. Looking at the hardware sports the same size displays as the Apple Watch series five. The S., five system and package and dual core processor deliver performance that's up to two times faster than the Apple Watch series three. The S. E. Packs the fives haptic feedback for the digital crown, and that speaks and here's what the latest speaker and microphone in the watch line. Apple says, watch as e features the same accelerometer gyroscope. altimeter as Apple Watch series six and with the latest motion centers and microphone. It offers robust health and safety capabilities including fall detection emergency, SOS, International Emergency, calling, and the noise. APP. Now, if you decide, the six time is the charm that you're finally ready to buy Apple Watch. The one you buy probably won't have a charger in the box Lisa Jackson vp of environment policy and social initiatives at apple appeared during Tuesday's event extolling the environmental virtues of apples timekeeper. Sometimes. Jackson said it's not what we make but what we don't make that counts. That he's from seeing that says that when she said that apple won't be including USB adapters with this week's watches. As putting them free in the box consumes resources and adds to apple's carbon footprint. Interestingly, people who can afford to buy a charger without giving it a thought. Won't have to do so. A separate piece on chargers Napa Watch from apple insiders as apple, watch, addition, and Apple Watch. Will include a five watt power adopter. Bloomberg's Mark Gherman Kinda cried foul over that on twitter. Quoting his tweet looks like the Apple Watch titanium and Armez model still have the power adapter. So the more expensive versions keep it. makes it seem like it's less of an environmental thing and more cost driven? I can get thinking that as an immediate reaction. Here's the thing though you gotta figure apple sells at a minimum hundreds of entry level apple watches for every single edition or. Sold. Probably thousands. So even though it looks like catering to the wealthy and yeah, there may be a bit of that. Even though it looks like catering to the wealthy dropping chargers, millions of people probably don't need. Might make an environmental difference. No I saw way more than one piece saying not including chargers with Apple Watch is just the beginning. While, it has been rumored that the next round of iphones will also arrived without a charger. Apple doesn't seem to a pulled the chargers from the ipads that are also coming out this week. We'll get to those in a bit. Want to get an Apple Watch for your kid but not give them an iphone worried that mom or dad may have a slip and fall or ended up seriously directionally challenged apple has a plan to watch the whole family. Selling points as far as apple's concerned with family setup, you can stay connected with family members without an iphone from making and receiving phone and facetime audio calls to sending and receiving messages and emails, and even connecting with other Apple Watch wearers over walkie talkie. Parents have the ability to approve all contacts. So kids can safely use the communication features of Apple Watch, according to the company. The activity rings experience has been optimized for kids according to Apple. Emergency SOS is being pushes the benefit though. Apple Watch already does that. And finally school time and downtime or front and Center for children while optimizations focused on health for older relatives take precedence at the other end of the spectrum. Now the news that will make family setup less useful for many. It requires cellular models, of Apple, watch series four or later or Apple Watch S E running watch os seven paired with iphone six s or later running IOS fourteen. Apple also said that kids and older family members of the household using family set up, we'll have their own phone number through a separate cellular plan. So, while you don't need to get GRANDPA and the kids their own phones, each cellular watch will come with a tone cellular plan and. Associated Bill. Family setup goes live today and so by the way does watch Os Savon. that. was kind of surprise more on that a bit later. With such an emphasis on the health, it's not overly surprising that the new Apple Watch Slash Watch Os Combo brings a few new health studies. macrumors runs those down starting with an asthma study being run in conjunction with the Insurance Company Anthem and the University of California, Irvine. Second the peace says Apple has tied up with university health network and the University of Toronto to learn more about how Apple Watch metrics including blood oxygen can be used to manage heart failure. Finally macrumors says apple is partnering with investors at the Seattle, flew study at faculty at the University of Washington School of Medicine to explore how changes in blood oxygen and heart rate can be early signals the onset of influenza and Kobe nineteen. The watches by the way are ready to order now. Those opened on. Tuesday, they'll ship on Friday in the US Puerto Rico twenty seven other countries and regions. Apple Watch series starts at three, hundred, ninety, nine dollars adding cellular adds another hundred. Bucks. Same goes for the Apple Watch Nike and Apple Watch Air Mas- that the prices run higher on the AMAS models. The new bands are also available to now they too will ship on. Friday the eighteenth of September. Though only in the US and fourteen other countries and regions. Porters are also underway for Apple Watch as E. It's got a starting price to seventy nine dollars. The movie itself debuted Friday, and I think that's we don't have any metrics yet that feels like a lot of people in have been streaming it despite the way that it's being presented and I mean, maybe that's the first thing to talk about a little bit like. The film. You know how the film has changed over time how it was what was meant to be in where it is now today in this time of Of Covert in quarantine in theaters basically being shot I think I wanted to ask if maybe everybody could share their relationship with the original film because that's that will serve you know color a lot of people's. The way they perceive this this new one right. Rebecca. What was it like watching the original Milan and how did that impact actually shape? This one for you. Yeah. Well, for me, I you know sort of your classic ABC asian-american Crawl one in the bay area you know live here lived in America, my whole life, and so I was I'm looking this up now and I was actually not cured with anime tomatoes teenagers. So I think I was sixteen when I came out Even, though I was no longer a small child I, what I remember most palpably was bursting into tears at the end of the animated film when Milan she's at the Forbidden City and she turns around and it feels like the entire country is kneeling and bowing and Reverend before her and the swell like I remember for years after that, like you know even without we watching the film just thinking about that moment. Just swallow emotion. Kind of being unprepared to see that image of of somebody who representative you know about as exactly. Who I was, you know just a small Chinese girl could be treated with such respect and honor. Listen. you know and reverence that was so moving. So that's what I remember most about you know the animated law and I think the way that made me feel is is sort of what I treasured about that movie even though it was, you know I haven't seen it in such such a long time. And Frankie in you grew up until age nine in China, right? Yeah in Beijing was. Yes. But you but you did also see Milan and I'm atrophies theaters or at home or so I was already living in the US by the time Mulan came out. So I washed it in Missouri were I was in the fifth grade and I think. My first exposure to Mulan the figure was actually when my mother taught me the ballot of Milan and made me memorize recited back to her. So this character was already one of my favorites. You know this cross dressing heroine who bests all the boys that was basically my dream I wanted to. Show everyone how amazing I could be. So you know I wasn't super. I had very mixed feelings about it because even as a ten year old I was you know I had trepidation about whether or not Disney was going to do a good job representing my culture, my country. So but at the same time, of course, I was really proud to see that they chose a Chinese story to bring to the big screen. So when I saw it I think I continue to feel mixed because there were these moments like the one that Rebecca described was incredibly moving but there were also these little things that day I guess. I don't know if I would say they got wrong because you can tell a story a story Harry you want, but it's more like there were very clear league. American narrative elements that were meant to. Get, a reaction out of American audiences. It makes sense but as a Chinese viewer I just thought while if you're going to represent my culture, why don't you get it right? Why don't you think that the? Quote Unquote correct representation can't also get a reaction out of Americans I remember when she dressed up for the matchmaker in the face was all white I just thought well, this reminds me of Geishas much more so than Address up Cheney's lady and maybe geishas is much more recognizable symbol. But why can't you just make her look uncomfortable as? A Chinese woman rather than something that looks more, Japanese. Their stuff like that.

The Corona virus treated on that. And everyone's going to be hitting them. I think I could be saving saving them from getting hit a by giving them the virus. So you're saying if we give the Astros the corona virus downward even then we're even can throw at them. No one can throw if they have the virus. Yeah if you throw out. And by the way if the Astros win the world series and overcome Corona Virus. That may be the one thing that brings them back to everyone's good graces. Bring back to the waterline. Everybody to respect that okay. So you're saying give the Astros coronavirus punishment for the cheating scandal and Dusty Baker. He he he going to have to deal with. "Pounds lessons I on Zion's like six eight and Barclays six four. No no no San six six and Barclay with six six six six this is who you need to aspire to be one of the round mound of really wants to be Lebron. You'RE NOT GONNA be Lebron Oak. Lebron six eight shoe eight two way. Faster Lebron lost a lot of weight. But I'm just saying like isn't that the best that like the Barclay is a type of guy you're like Oh Barclay you can say it and you watched shack handle the Kobe. Thing right you say to yourself man. I love you dude. Anything I ever felt about you. That was even the slightest bit negative which I never. We're always like shack size bars lovable. Both both I'm just like anytime. They go hit compared donald trump to Charles Barkley. But there is this element of like wind. Charles Barkley says something you don't. It doesn't shock you anymore but partially get away with all these Barclays Loving. There's a love but I'm saying like when like if I heard Lebron say something controversial I'll be like what Barkley said the exact same sentence I'd go. Yeah that makes sense. Yeah Berkeley Barkley in the in the Stanley Cup finals. They interviewed him inbetween beards. We obviously cared. Some blues ran at this year. He was great fun because he's he loved it. He loved it. He loved his. He's a curious one of us. I feel like that's what that's what make Barclay lovable is. He doesn't seem like a guy who's at this like Level where he's unapproachable. And he's at like this fancy dinners celebrities. He seems like A. I'm going to do what I want to wear what I want. I'm GONNA go golf. Say What I want and do an and and do what he wants I. E I'm going to build affordable housing home. You're like you can do whatever you memorabilia. You'RE GONNA try and say that he has a ton of Old Jerseys. And how much could an old game warned? Charles Barkley Jersey autographed from Charles Berkeley. Sell for what like a thousand rings or assigned Ray Rings? He's got to win like tournaments. He's got no rings shack them every time. That's check his classroom. That's unfair Shaq. Had a good example of what we're just talking about. How about how like they can get away with anything? Yeah LEBRON LEAVES CLEVELAND AND PEOPLE LOSE THEIR MIND PEOPLE IN CITIES WHO aren't even clevelander. Miami are complaining like the girl from what I've done it. Where shack would literally go to any team. That had a good point guard. He's like what Phoenix Scher Boston. Shirt CLEVELAND SHIRT MIAMI shirt. Any how about if everybody's complaining about what? About Casey. Kevin Garnett did all that he could do to try and win. Rayon in all that he could do to try and win. In Minnesota Kevin Durant did an Kevin Garnett Kevin Garnett and then. Garnett goes to Boston and they invented the big three right. And everyone's happy about that. It's silly this sports. Logic is very flawed. That were some would say like well. It Ruins your legacy if you WANNA leave a team like but that's not true. I'm big fan of Jim. Thome remember him Great Hall Famous? Do He has a special section in in What's now progressive field? The Jake He has a special section section. Honoring him at that stadium. Then you go to Philadelphia. And he's got a special section honoring him because Baltimore Camden yards very special section section honoring. Jim Thome E. I would say you're helping your legacy by spreading it up good person cities claiming I I'm gonNA guess somewhere in. Us cellular field in Chicago. There's a spot for. Jim told her there is. I wonder how the angels feel about Google's I mean the the car because he never really delivered on the promise what he had a couple of plays though as it goes records right and he'll records as national but the magic that he created sure as a cardinal so I wonder when he goes in the hall of fame and he'll be a first ballot or no Louis so the goes in as a cardinal has to get all of his damage there and that way I hate so the only ever hear me. Talk Trash about Greg Maddux is Greg. Maddux did a thing where he was like well. I love the cubs as much as I love the braves so I don't really like dude. That's how the whole famous you have to pick a team place. What do you do your you had the best seasons ever as a brave chicks dig. Lavar ball drifted me. You so angry was. He presented that conversation to the baseball world where that would have never otherwise been a conversation and so. I'm afraid like pools my I don't know going bolt. You know you're just put into bed hat all right. So the Final Story Rob Gronkowski in deep deep talks with the. Wwe DEAL report. I saw an ad that I mean. You feel like that's kid for. He has a friend named Mojo or something mojo Rawlings or something. I don't know it's pretty easy enough. While his one of his best friends is in the pro is in w and he shows up to all the wrestle like all the wrestling as I can do this and he's also he's big like big personality personnel but I don't you told me that Rob Gronkowski still thinks wrestling is real. And what's GonNa Happen is my prediction on Shabbat wrestling? Fan and Mojo Rawley very good Pirelli so Gronkowski will. He's going to sign a deal dodie yet. He'll get some candy ass contract. It's not like the other wrestlers have to deal with right and he still won't be able to keep a Vince happy or jump through the hoops that he would have to be about four months. You think he's GonNa completely like novelty match. How how fast would quit if you got a job tomorrow? Wb writers you guys would quit in probably two weeks because you're just be like. I'm not putting up with this for this pay. It's like it's not worth it. He psycho watching the xfl. Dow you see the thirty for thirty on the old one. Yeah the old XFL. Yes kind of unbelievable. Because it's Dick Ebersol. And Vince McMahon their partnership and literally when NBC lost the NFL to Fox and CBS. What they did in there like we need football and we need to have a fight. Bob Costas he's going to her. We talk about on this. Podcast depress him as a journalist. And I said you know it was funny Bob. When he was on the show had no was funny is the more he got mad. The calmer you got. And he's like that's what was making him mad that it wasn't there you ever fearful and he said no part of me was felt like I was watching it happen and I'm sitting there. Sure and part of me was like this guy is smart enough not to do any on camera. It's going to be a really bad low salt so he can't private at a bar that's a little. It's posturing guy he's like. I know I know who you are like Jim. Rome with with Well the will that pushed that pushed buttons forward. This guy McMahon you you get the sense that he's like on he. One of my close close pals in this stage life is Freddie Kris Jenner the hero for WB for prince junior row for wwe for. I don't know like over a year. It was the weirdest I can only imagine like father's son like kind of dysfunctional relationship. I've ever had in my life. I love who you've connected with through as a comedian whose life Sunday Freddie at a for his birthday at Xfl That's hilarious. Yeah the reason. I'm still drunk because at Robin thinks birthday. Oh my gosh was the weirdest night on. My leg was crazy. It wasn't semi one little tiny story. Robin Dick is such a sweetheart. Yeah that he just kept like giving speeches like he would. Just get up like are you know like let me. Just tell you about this guy right here man. This is my longest friend. I knew him before I knew all you guys. I got a little one because battling on me j Ferrell Joel McHale and Ken junk sitting like in a little expand. "Hey guys welcome to the show Follow Jeff die on twitter. He is at Jefta D. y. e. socials are at a p him live any live dates coming up. I know coronas like affecting amid The Dead Crow Comedy Club in North Carolina coming up and then Budgets ON JEFF DOT COM DOT COM. Go see him I promise you you will thank us do it now. And then you'll think later for doing it. All right thank you. Let's get into some quick hits and then and then we at the end of crickets. He's going to tell the idea that he was just doing until Dan. Let's pitch an hour. So you're you're you're all about fun ideas that somebody will go. Why would we want that? But it's because it's fun you know putting a regular guy and baseball game is is a fun idea. Great idea right if I do say so. What if you found the fattest guy in the world just the most fat dude you could find just morbidly obese you put a Jersey and some pads on him and you put them in a goal box for an NHL game. He's so big that he just takes up the whole area of the mighty ducks scene. Where the big guys? The goal in just takes all these things. They strap them to the haven't seen that is. You're the guy they have to like. Saw Open the doorway to get. You could find a guy big enough. Why is that illegal? It's not do that. You go ahead. That's got no reaction times pat up man. Good luck is literally then it becomes. How much of a sniper are your sharpshooter? Why there's no area that's a big guy he's set you're talking seven hundred pounds. Wash Yourself. Yeah he must be like. He's bigger than the goal would be like. We have to make rules. You see wearing loafers. Or is he wearing? He's got always gotta wear pads and he's got it all he can't skate he's to how you put them in that. Goldbach see where. They moved their leg sideways so they got the pads over the. Yeah the whole time as going to be able to last for what would the NHL do they go? Gosh Dang it you see the penguins are doing. We can't we can't allow. I like it would be that would force a rule change right. It's James Harden the way he's like really changing the game by just like getting fouled on traveling. Well they're all three steps back But like you know like with flopping and at some point to go we need to address this address it can take fat guy in that goal bucks every teams just trying to make millionaires out of morbidly obese. People you heard it here it happens. You heard it here. This just stupid idea. Let's do some crickets all right. So this is less of like This is just a crazy thing. What do you think do you think the? Nc Double A. plays its games without fans. Yes you do I do too. Yeah they just got. Oh maybe not 'cause NCW obsessed with money they are but like in Washington just said we can't have gathering more than two hundred and fifty point. Gosh we have shows are still safe. Yeah we haven't reached that threshold for Washington Hall yet In June in January. We'll see long way way. You should come up and be our gas. Would you go some numbers? Yeah good I want to give you the day right now it's Yoon nineteenth choose the Friday night. We'll see some other shows around the guests. We're doing this okay. I'll I'll I'll literally put it in your Saturday. And then we'll promote it and you guys show on the night before yes absolutely do okay Uconn women's basketball coach Gino. Ram Isn't buying into the American athletic conferences. New KHURANA virus precaution for everybody. Who's not buying into precautions? Fuck you what are you doing? Why are you be so sports? Is this incredible macho things. Don't tell me I'm GonNa play Harare. Don't tell me I can't shake hands up. Don't chance so we are about to go. Do these shows Madison Wisconsin. This weekend were in Madison. When this thing drops we're Madison Right? Now we're going to have merch lines afterwards. We have merged we sell merchants. Waco's we're going to give prayer hands and bow and give elbows and that's what we're going to do and you know what that's okay it's the fuck out of her name is going to be bad out of. Us giving but we were just on a plane I get it. We're just going to give an elbow and no one's GonNa be mad about it. No one's GonNa think we love them lasts so Geno Auriemma you can suspend what you normally do and and come this time next year when we don't have a potential epidemic endemic. Yes then then you can go back to high fives and hugs. So this is not personal. This is the problem with legendary coaches anywhere. Okay Bob Knight thinks he's over the DIXIES Gregor Games's biggest game players. I can throw chest push. Kids show jewelry. Ori Jokes like that is to be that are joking. Bloomington is that Bob Knight should have a restaurant with no chairs to stone. You tell people who people are and they just downstairs across. So he's like I love stuff like the I wanted to create a bar. Called roadhouse right but the rule is every hour we ringing alarm. And if you don't want to be in a fight and you've been out to the level at the Higher Level Watch. The fight are the hours people are just going up and then nobody's fighting but some people are gonna go that far like I get to fight in everyone signs a good thing. This is why I do this. They're just waiting for the alarm just drinking signs that thing you have to sign a company. Well that's the insurance thing. So that's not on us so this this is what Gino Armenia. Rem said okay. This is like again the every argument for the sort of I'm not gonNA follow. Protocol is the dumbest argument. Our our assistant Sarah. Her son is a wrestler. They wrestled for. I don't know how long on this dirty Matt and they go. No shaking hands. I mean come on. Don't get me started. Hey guess what the wrestling thing. They're wrong. They shouldn't be wrestling job to find the wrong by like doing. It's not a thing. It's just to me all this of his unbelievable. It's funny that people are taking this like this is GonNa be the new normal. No we have to hit the pause button. A little bit we have medically response. We're just trying to contain this shit so it doesn't kill. Everybody are so that doesn't spread all over the place. Do you think God or the universe made corona virus to be like. Hey that one area is getting carried away calling real things fake that one area keeps saying that scientific things are fake. So we're going to now look at the way it handled real and all the people that call it. Fake News are going to be dead. Yeah okay or it's called natural levellers. Its mouth oozing. I Love Charles Barkley. So much Mir were of the of the mindset that the dude is just the greatest thing ever. I'll watch the more than I'll even watch games at times. I'll watch earn. Bang on everything because you like he could say any. It's like why comedy is Great. It's why the Best James Harden is a hasidic. Jews weren't Andre Jordan. Deandra John Amana impression because Jerry Jones terrible if I if we locked them into a gym with a bunch of basketballs and we told them dunks don't count. We opened up the gym. He'd have to point. That's the weirdest great. Thanks John. Why Charles Barkley can do all that because of this story here Charles. Barkley is selling memorabilia to build affordable housing in his Alabama hometown. You know what I'm saying. He's like I don't need this. I donate you know. He doesn't need it. So I think Barclay a lot when I think of Zion Williamson. Okay okay you're like that if you're Zion you say I WANNA do should aspire to be Charles Charles look at who he was undersized amazing jumper powerful rim shelter guy winner was left he no no no bark Nova Bar. I went back with my son and watched Barclay highlights dude. He bands his dunks on the rim are a lodge so so Zion kills. Zion kills it in Zion's to eighty five clues never injured though right. Barkley is to Lamar. Durham a little more Gerbil To fifty with Karen thirty five pounds in his playing days to fifty five thirty.

"Like I like the rain right now for five days a year it's good for like there is L. A. Rainy Joe. The reason why it works and the reason why it's good is because it's hard to you feel wrong being depressed when it's so nicer so if some an invariably everybody who's here get's depressed because they're not doing the project they wanna do things not working. And that's I go in. I'm watching all my other people on instagram. Do all the other people do. And so you get mad at yourself then you walk outside. You're like I can't be depressing. This weather need some rain to also then sit around and eat a tub of ice cream exactly exactly so every friend that I've that I hadn't see out of it moved down. They've lost weight. They're happy they're ten. Look like the have become so much better actually took off your Seattle. Shell raincoat like I found myself. Took note your son. That's all I feel like the rain and we're about to go to Minneapolis next week. The rain in Seattle the weather in Minneapolis. The cold weather and whatnot are to really cool city. Seattle and Minneapolis. The weather's are the natural prohibitive. Prohibitive you WANNA come up here. A damn well want to be here. We got a Lotta Shit though. You know that you've traveled everywhere like Chicago might be the greatest city in the world until winter and then people who do the same with well actually. New York's kind of brutal all seasons. Yeah brutality people just like whatever all brave it. It doesn't matter like trying to think like there's you go to San Diego and it's just like pleasant like I'm turning my like this thing like I'm turning everything off. Yeah I'M GONNA turn my mind off to politics and mature my mind off to anything. That's I am San Diego You are. You're the San Diego people I'm GonNa turn everything on means something going on to the padres opioid crisis. I have no idea. Padres came in third. They're like words I am. I was When I first moved to La dating a very famous girl and she had to go to this club appearance. They're paying your like heaps of money to go to this club. All she has to do is go and sit there and like a little booth in drink and so people can she. She's there. They just advertise that. She's there she doesn't have to sign a little club and they go with her well. They were very annoyed that I came with because they want to give the illusion that other guys feel like they gotta shop to be some sexy girl in a club. Why did you bring some dopey boyfriend with you the wearing like a kitty cat shirt and like I was at Gayle? King Oprah's all I WANNA do. I don't WanNa know who. So this is two thousand nine thousand eight. Two Thousand Yeah. I don't WanNa know who it is. Okay I only want to know. How much was she paid? Oh I think it was fifteen thousand dollars showing up now. I have to know who it is. She was a playmate of the year. Sara Underwood Carrie underwood a playmate and also again. You definitely want her to be alone or with some girlfriends or something right you want everyone wanna see some six foot four dummy yes yes it was. I was even look into like why am I here? You're never going to get booked here again. They're going to be so upset do. Can't you be her handler? Not Now because she's like me and my boyfriend and at least you like hold my arm and I remember on my my space like people just light me up like who's this loser with Sara Underwood as a dude. I didn't sign up for this like I'm anyway but the reason I tell the stories because we were in a comic we were in a cl- I know it's so sunny out here shot. That's verified. Actually googling who I am. Who's Sarah under was boyfriend? Who Server thank God. Thank God you've graduated from being Sarah Underwood's well. They made those fake accounts. That had my name. And so then we reach out to the social media go. Hey I'm the real one and these are the fake ones. And that's I was verified before like a lot of my comedian of just a girl. You did fantastic call. The underwood effect has got to do it. But the reason I should the stories because we were at this nightclub in San Diego. It's Saturday nine. Probably two thirty in the morning. They're getting everyone added there. It's almost completely cleared out except her 'cause she's allowed to stay as long as she wants. They're going to treat her good. They're giving us alcohol their flirting with her in front of me as a whole vein of course but the La- the other people that were there that were famous that we're leaving where San Diego chargers and I go wait. Is there a game tomorrow biweekly? So Sports Fan. I just Google play tomorrow. They had a one o'clock game than two in the morning. At least like seven or eight of them stop and that's a lot. I mean like on a game night San Diego's to fun to have a successful sports yet. They won't bad so far can give twenty year old okay. Millions of dollars to be respond. This explains to me. San Diego always started out the year like one in four because they never got together and finally after a while. They're like we gotta stop going out until three in the morning so they were just completely running themselves for the first five or six games a year and then finally Philip rivers was like. I'm at home making more kids. Babies doing is making this book. What I meant to say is that San Diego is too good of a city that makes the teams trash. If you're cities trash it makes pretty good teams. Because let's do Pittsburgh. What do we say Pittsburgh's trash? I'm just saying it's not supposed to be a cool city. It is sports teams aren't good. Well no the steelers are good. I have high rates have the pirates rough. Got It all right so you don't have an NBA team now. D- root for either La Lakers guy. I'm Ben I'm very good friends with Jeanie. Buss Linda Rambus. Who How do you know these guys So again I met genie bus at the Playboy Mansion. It's hilarious but genie bus. Ie you're hanging guarantee you is guys are and and as a fan can guarantee you. Can you get us in touch with her? If you want I would love to go to a game love Comedians. All my God and so when I was playing mentioned shifts. Get her on this podcast header on my podcast and my pocket is doing way worse than any department we lease. Get what is your. What is Your Jeanie? Buss you guys come to my pod absolutely got to jeopardize friendship podcast right. We're on it. And she's so funny because she's she's a business woman man. Yeah she's not GonNa give you any sound clip. That like will compromise any of her own now and now. I know she like she likes to like I was trying. I was given a little house pitching her all these jumpy. Just a wall of commentary that likes she does. You cannot not gonna well. She's like Lizard funding that she shared on my pockets. That I found fascinating is I was saying like you know women. Why like why? Why doesn't the WWL majors? Lower the rim so these girls can dunk. I mean like we let girls golf closer like the closer tease right. We accept that women are biologically a little smaller than men. That's not that's not an equality thing that just look a little smaller. Take the biggest man in the world bigs woman in the world whatever strong man strongest woman little. They're just a little smaller. And if you're using a smaller ball why can't we just lowered little nine foot girls dunk dunk city because fans like myself? The the more simple fans. We Love Hail. Mary's home runs and Dunks love. And so if I'M GONNA go to those games I don't WanNa just see layups in passing. I don't care I want to see dunks and so I picked this tour. And she's like she got sued. She did say that every year she tries out women. She has a lot of women. Trial for the Lakers. That's amaze every year. Actually just not as good as the men. I think you better than Caruso I think yeah I think the crew I think the NBA. You might be able to get a woman as a two guard or point guard to come through. I do think like just the way. I don't think she could defend. I don't know if you have like an unbelievable shot. I just think like the way people working out these days the way you might know why I really do believe or second base second base MRI. Maybe baseball I believe baseball. Second Baseman that can base central. Look I believe anything like this weird study where it's like if you took like just the strongest guy at your gym. He's GonNa beat the hell out of like a really low level. You HAVE SEAGULL. Like there was a guy who was popping up at. I'm telling you I don't know about just physicality I know but it's true. Here's what I would love to see. And then we'll go to a break. Rookie made us. We haven't been great. So so here's what I WANNA see team like a like the mariners. I think every game for one inning. A fan gets to play one. Possession manager has to decide which position to put you have We love it. And it's like it's where do we put so rain in Iran and the sausage race in Milwaukee? We did one time because we were in town. Doing comedy shows normally do the sausages. Everyone turns young adult interns at all employees. And if they win they they don't have to do like the kid daycare at the end of the game right so it means something to them. That's Hilarious steaks but also but also people just show up to work that day and they're like oh you're running the right you'll check the board and you're like I'm right out of the race so randy and I went to run the race and we ran around and we're like this is cool but wouldn't it be cool if one of us had to play like right field. Yeah I'm telling you I. I support the idea. I would like that in almost any sport. You show me a regular guy. Let me see where I would look at. How's your week? Look like I want to write this movie. I'm sure tons of people are starting to emergency goalie. The amazing the guy the guy who was Zamboni driver for the arena comes in and wins the game for the other the other team Carolina Hurricanes and he came in and one that it's the greatest idea pitchy guys pitch on the other side of break jeopardize got an idea. He's got a podcast to Friendship Podcast Geoff. Ties friendship podcasts. Which will be on this bad decisions? By the strokes there are no bad decisions with Jeff Dot come back and do quick hits with him after the break ause again later it's You from the cheap.

San Diego Seattle Lakers Minneapolis NBA Sara Underwood Sarah Underwood Sara Underwood Carrie Pittsburgh padres Google underwood Playboy Mansion La Carolina Hurricanes Philip rivers steelers La dating Dunks King Oprah

"Day on television. They have a TV deal right and then also a flight. Home is a direct flight. Eight hours I would assume I put in the same category as like if Tim Tebow. Continue to play. Football and Miami was like we'll draft him right because all the Florida guys and all the Florida fans knew him and loved him as a heisman. Trophy winner and whatnot though. Come out to the game. At least you made money. That's right sold some jerseys. That's right. Yeah he'll come onto the game and he'll generate money for us. It's even if it's on a show. Shohei Otani is amazed anyway rival and now the angels have the two best players in baseball they do Otani and trout and then they trade for someone else they ever and now like like. Our arrival has the two best players in baseball. I mean you did grow up watching Ken griffey junior the greatest baseball player Volta. So you think he steroids because he got hurt too much right. I don't think it's just that is I think that he in this is a guy that Damien stretch is like I don. I don't trust I mean I don't think he was so pure baseball. His swing was so beautiful. And you know what great that like? Senior senior who is part of the big red machine and so part of? Linke's heart of a world series champion. Many world series is and was a great player in his own right. Yeah okay. He's not he's not a hall of Famer but he was a great player in his own right but his greatest contribution baseball was his son when he married an athlete. His his mom or Griffey's mom was like this track star like a Super Athlete. So they may pigeon. Child has a phenomenal kid. That could Griffey never gave his dad any credit. He does all my mom was the athletic ones. You like dude. Your Dad was pretty athletic and then he also wore number twenty four because he grew up loving Ricky Henderson Hall Grades So Griffey were twenty four because of a lesser. He's like who yeah thirty his dad but now he's like Nah. I like who I wish I had someone I could look up to. That was closed. Come under Sanderson Guide. It's KINDA CRAZY. Occasionally like yeah. I'm glad you chose Ricky So so are you a basketball fan or as soon as the supersonics knows. Saint LOUIS FANS. We know what it's like to have teams your city across the Sonics left. We did you feel I by the way I feel like. If the Sonics had stayed in Seattle Harden durant westbound westbrook would have all stayed. Think so to help. I'd like to think that because I think they win a lot of championships so one of the reasons even Jalen Jalen. Rose said one of the reasons he felt like durant left. Oklahoma City was during like Obama was delivering a message after durant it so much to give money. Oh Yeah Tornado. Victims went out and he said Obama's on the screen and everyone was boom and he was like having a second. That's my guy or I can't believe I'm playing for a city of people that are doing this guy so excited. I gotta go somewhere a little more woke than this. And he wound up going to San Francisco which is in Seattle. Tell Seattle and now he's in Brooklyn so he's kind of like avoided going to a place where maybe that would exist. Which is kind of crazy We also add Serge Ibaka. Nobody talks about that. I mean that's a that's a phenomenon I would say the surge is working collison. I'm GonNa like we literally. That's a that's a squad that is squad guys went off to do other other great things. I also I use usually said like if the sonics never left Seattle I would have talked. I don't know one hundred hours about something different. I've never shut up about the fact that the Sauna Club you would think I lost a Chai did you. Did you ever shut up about it ends? You did you root for the thunder or no no no you if your heart your heart. My now Z. If anyone is out there from Seattle going Oh. I'm they went to become thunder Sugiyama Thunder Fan. That's literally like someone sexually assaulting you. And then later they get on TV and you go. You know had sexually that guy. No he sexually assaulted like I don't know if it can compare those maybe Oklahoma City did not. They did they did. They didn't like they stole. My team stole my city is no. It's like it's the worst feeling. And here's the lot a lotta pictures and Seattle so it was hard to get the hipsters on board. I was like I'd go to coffee shops and be like keep the sonics leaving because I grew up in Queen Queen. Anne is like we are where you grew up from fifteen up age fifteen up so and I would go to songs games. I was friends on the sonics dancers like I used to like. Get me like tickets to go in. I was a little boy like watching my sonics from age. Seven all the way up but when I moved queen at age fifteen so here's the thing hipsters when a cop show would be like and even like the Sonics and you're like okay. That's fine but you don't even own a TV exactly you Dannebrog. They're being the economy by leaving. So now you're a little coffee shop. Your little hipster record store your cool little like a vintage I would frequent are now chase bank's CIPOLLA. What you love about our little vibe town which is now going to just become a buffalo wild wings because we don't have the economy to port the Little Guy Sports allows you to offer. Hey sports or not. That was bringing the money into that. I agree and made me so mad. It's CERVITTI I hate all the time. In fact I got a little carried away when it when that earthquake happened or whatever happened Oklahoma City. I was like this. Is Karma for you steal Sonics and all these people were like. Hey Man. You can't do literally followers. I understand the the just. Mayo Grapes and the hurt I suck. Avenue are happened to our cardinals. Football cardinals went Zona for the rams left. So we've lost two football teams in sales but I never had an NBA team. Now you're next hello team and we're getting an MLS team which I know as a Seattle fan battle sounders. I've never been to one of those those you've got to go to a southbound founders timbers game it's that's the thing because you know being up there there's a little rivalry. There's like a comedy rival Portland in interest. We're more hipster Seattle's rainy reindeer reindeer. Homeless will double. Then it's like I get it. I get the process. I don't care at all. Someone is remember like we often said about Portland in about Seattle. The same thing that like the sun is like the that guy who shows up in the conference room and didn't realize that there's a meeting their shows up with his lunch to eat there and dozen relaxes. That's always when the sun comes on Seattle. It's like Oh Shit Shari. I thought I was supposed to be you. Guys rain all booked for okay. Sorry my bad ran. Has this book all the way through the summer all the way through August? Yeah you guys have you guys ticket. I'll just great kids and it's like when I first moved to La. All I've ever known rain from Seattle is All we knew. What are you not impressed? Did it to press different if I moved back now because things like. I didn't win the Sun comes out you call in sick you go out. Can't be inside because it's it's actually sunny so when I first moved to La my first day. I'm like crashing. Adam raise couch in two thousand eight and I go to the coffee shop. And I'm you know I'm a Smiley guy which annoys everyone And I go in and I'm like hey sunny out and they're like where are you from? I just moved here from Seattle. Like oh well welcome again my coffee table and then the next day. I communicate all my God. It's sunny again that the fourth like welcome to La like sales and then after like the fifth day like dude. You don't have to do this everyday. Everyday people are no it so it's raining now and it's giving you a little slice of Seattle for the next week it's in La for the next week. And I think people are kind of like it. They'll be reminded it makes them seem like they're so like poetic.

"Well I think I have it mostly in check these these days like I can be a little bit hypochondriac. My Dad was a doctor and like I know I know this wasn't his intention but his dinner time conversation. When he came home from work was not always good for my brain three? When I was a kid I uh there is a period of time where I thought that someone might have swapped out my dad do this thing when he would come home? I would really quietly run downstairs when I heard the garage door opening and my dad had this pair of coveralls hanging up right behind the door and I would stand behind the coveralls and then when he came in the door like jump out and scare him even though I did this every every single night. It's still scare the crap out of him by remember after I'd done this for a little while that like my reason for doing it changed to see if I can catch him like getting into costume. I just kind of wondered if he was not who he said he was and he had fooled us all four elevator doors and I thought this was something. Everyone is afraid of five. I didn't stop wetting my pants in the daytime Until I was in sixth grade I just did it every single day. The thing that made me stop is that I had a big crush on a girl in my grade and I I realize that you would never like me if I what my pants so shamed myself out of it. I used to be afraid that I'd do it for the rest of my life. Though I think my parents were too.

"Are you really. Yeah like an eight hundred number that people just call you and they sent it to. People will submit a relationship questions submitted them ahead of time. And we're going to talk to them. I love it. Hello Hi is is melanie it is hi Melanie. It's ANA hi. Hi thank you so much for doing this. I'm here with Jeff Carlin. Hi Melanie Hi. I'm good how are you. Do you know who I am. I do it. Yeah I was like I never assume ever you tell us what's going on okay. So ever last December I'm single for the first time in about seven years and I finally got the courage to start dating in April. After a series of unfortunate I dates. I finally met this really Great Great Guy Trevor. We hit it off immediately. We went on some really great dates. A few things like a little off about him though. He said he lived with his parents which is a huge deal because I currently live with mine. Thanks but he said he didn't have a driver's license car because he got an accident when he didn't have any car insurance and then he randomly dropped it on me that he has three kids under the age of three. He said three two and quote unquote brand-new since he didn't drive. I was always the one to see him and I would only ever pick him up and drop him off at his office. I I am lying about a few harmless other things like who'd babysitting the kids when we would go out and then in August I went on a trip with my friend to New York City and he went on a family trip communiqu festival and he goes to the entire time he completely dropped off the face of the planet and then when he got back he would like. Oh I turn my phone off to spend time with my family and and I didn't have any service so I kinda done ended things and then a few weeks ago we got back in touch. He said he really missed me. And he thought about me a lot and he would be extremely lucky. The things between US worked out. Those are his words. I kinda missed his company and I mean we take off the first time around so I decided to give things another shot but I did say on one condition that he I was always honest with me and like communicative and I'm now living with my parents to. We had to get a little creative with seeing each other And had a hot date and of minivan if you know talking about I finally got the nerve to ask him what his last name was and he told me so like any other person in twenty nineteen. I tried to find him on social media. I didn't find him but I did find his ex. HIS QUOTE UNQUOTE ECK turns out that his brand new kid the youngest one is two months old so he was screwing around with me the first time around when she was pregnant also based on her instagram. It doesn't look like they are separate is currently she. A few months ago posted a picture of her proud new mom with her loving in hardworking husband bought her the same minivan that I was making so I confronted him about it and he shut down basically just said that I deserve better and he asked me if I wouldn't confront her about anything because he doesn't want it to affect his relationship with kit so my question is what do I do. Do I tell her. I feel like I've another woman I'm in. I feel like she should know about this. But I also don't know if it should come from me and I'm really torn. Oh boy okay. We'll we'll first of all I don't think thank. You should tell her anything because I think that this guy has enough skeletons in the closet. Like I just don't know if you should get involved on that end of things. Yeah Yeah but here's what I wanted to ask you clearly. This dude is he's probably like a fucking hot lover and handsome or whatever in you. You haven't been single for seven years. Yeah this was one of the first people that sort of came into your life. I guess it depends on what your goals goals are great and I don't know if you should involve yourself in his life in any way it feels a little volatile but having said that the fact that you have I've been in a monogamous relationship for so long and the you re entering this world how do you navigate those waters. And how do you know who who to trust or what to do. Actually I don't know Jeff. What do you think I have a few thoughts first off any man that has a minivan is married? That's number one then. Generally don't drive minivans. That's they didn't pick up the other thing is I wouldn't get involved anymore and I would ghost him. I would just move on because I think that for your safety and for your parents aren't safety because we don't know this gentleman he's been pretending to be something else. I don't know what could possibly happen to you but I think nothing good can come of this we had jeff cryptic you were. I don't know what scored no but the point is by the way you get married. No we don't know it sounds it was like I know this sounds like every murder podcast every year. This sounds like so same thing. Thank you move on you sound. So it's a word I use the light foam and lovely and I know that on two levels one. You're going to have hot sex again and you will meet someone done you. Well I promise you my water my work but but as you know jeffords hard in the moment the moment to what so took look out for your safety because right now this is a safety issue. It's nothing more and it's an ego. Oh issue of like Oh you fucked with me so now. I'm going to tell your wife what you did. No get out. Don't be involved with any of it at all. Just just cut it off. It's over it's going to be painful. It's going to be tough but so much easier than if you got involved by talking to the wife and by talking to him anymore. Cut it off completely. I've never felt more confident in giving advice then this the sides that I wanted to say something to you and I know what you might do and what you might do is be unkind to yourself is belittle you yourself say mean things to yourself about the mistake that you made and you did in the moment what you knew best you were taking him at his word you were trusting do not beat yourself up give yourself kindness for learning and going through an experience that you can talk talk about some day to Dinner Party where you have great distance from it and you're with someone else you know because I think the only other problem would be you being mean to yourself and beating yourself up because of this give yourself a past. You're a good person you're doing the best you can with the information you've been given and so move along protect your family and yourself from any bullshit. 'cause it's an ego move to go to his wife you know right. You're not her protector protector. She signed up for what she signed up for. You know now if she's your best friend your coworker and it's more you know tied in. That's another thing there's nothing to you. He is nothing to you. Move on move on and it'll take time and be kind yourself and every time you watch curb your enthusiasm or some movie go gave me some good advice. No here's my one did. Did you know one thing. Don't fucking van. I don't nothing good some of that but by the way let's say You get married and have children and it's your family man and that Saturday night you go out in the van and your husband's let's fuck in the back and pretend that we just met at the soccer field one of the other moms or DADS or whatever. Sure that's the only van fucking. That's any good but in general avoid fucking advanced saving. Then you're wonderful. I hope we helped you thank you I love you. Thank you or love you to see touch and I hope that we helped you to some degree. Well thank thank you so much I think what Jeff said about you know meeting to kind of forgive myself and not be mean to myself is probably the biggest aspect of this whole thing so thank you so much. Admitting I have listened to every single episode of the podcast ever I love it. So thank you so much. Oh Hockey's wonderful as you think she might thanks. Oh I wonderful holy crap melanie. Please be in touch. I will thank you so much guys. Thank you thank you bye. This is nothing to do with anything but during that phone call. I think I'm GONNA legally changed the name to Claudette. That's what I'm GonNa go with that. Yup No oh sex-change same guy but I'm Claudette. It's what I'm thinking about guard. Here's the other junkie ready. This is my favorite joke. Guy Goes to the doctor. Yeah he says Dr. I'm so overwhelmed when I wake up in the morning. My body aches and filled with anxiety. I'm filled with dread. I don't WanNA get out of my bed. Let alone open the window window and I know I can't go outside. I keep the lights off. I'm overwhelmed I weep constantly. I don't know what to do and the doctor says I'll tell you what to do. Do you go see Koko the clown he's in town now performing he'll make you laugh. Who Make you forget about all your problems? Force yourself go see coca the Clinton and the man says but doctor I am Koko the clown. Thank you for doing this so enjoy everything..

"Recently I didn't know much about CBD and. I didn't think I had any real need for it. Isn't you know everybody anxious. Excuse unable to fall asleep and addicted to reality television but it turns out that. CBD was exactly what I needed. It's the perfect relaxation and sleep aid though it has many other benefits. I strongly recommend. CBD MD's bath bombs.

"I read this book. We'll hear that cover. Oh, wow. Yes. That's the one of his that. I read. Yes. So that was sneaky seventy nine. Wow. Okay. Sorry. Oh, yeah. In the city of sanctuary. Oh my God. I forgot I kind of read this a lot of good stuff in there. That some nice to have these things that us from that is awesome. It's great. When you find one of these one of these things like a long lost memory. And you see the cover of a book and it like still holding storms back into your brain. I remember special just loving the cover of this. It's so Deontay sitting in in in armor with knives and guys bringing mugs of stuff. It's like this is so you hosting something about like Morton Kanaan's thing last week something I saw on Twitter. You were doing Jeff d. Yeah. Might be talking about Jeff D? Yeah. Have you seen the art book s I have not. That's awesome. It's good bits. Not what I was hoping for which shouldn't surprise me. But I mean, I know, for example in the case of Jeff d I have not followed the drama on this. But I know that he is basically redrawing a lot of his stuff. It's sort of like, you know, Jeff Lynne. Lots of bands have done this now rerecord their heads. And then put it. Hey. Do that. Well, yeah. And like there aren't already enough yellow compilations. Now, you have to also figure out. Well, is this the bad one where they recorded? The one's actually pretty good. It's it sounds a lot the same. But Jeff d I think is redrawing 'specially I wanna say dis and demigods, but I was hoping it'd be more of that. I was hoping there be more a lot of it is some of it's actually some of the best parts of the book are the marketing stuff in the ads seeing those old ads for DND stuff that they'll TSR stuff seeing like I owned a copy of the original. There was a like reissue, but I owned the original dandy set little box with the little book. And it's really fun though. It's good to go back and see stuff. Like, what was the wrong was thieves world. Like d- thing. I feel like at one point there were like campaigns. I think I think so Royal de and I I am excited to check out some of these books, and I really appreciate it. Also, please stop sending them now. I think it was called. I think the world was called sanctuary. Yes. These world sanctuary there. It is. I'll be horri- horrible. Yes. This is good. So now, you got to get hold of stuff. Yeah. It's part of my office purge. I'm starting to become more candid with myself about how many of these books have that. I really do have an extensive library. No, I wouldn't say I mean, I've got a lot of the books that are special to me. I mean, I've got. Two long boxes and four short boxes of comics that I probably don't need that. I need to put up in a prettier way. And one point says was kind enough to give me tons of his old x comic. So I've got a lot of old men comics thanking us, but you know, what it is the sounds unkind. But people used to send me like. Galleys complimentary copies of business books. So all these business books with cover letter in it that I've never even cracked, you know, the one thing that was ball is Wall Street big shots. Don't want you to know about him or whatever. And I just I think just need to go away. I don't even want donate them. But like the decay book on office how to be a manager. Like, I don't think I need that any more. Although I love decay book. You know, the cable trying to think of what that means, you know, decay book decay mixed the sticker that yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Of course. He's a Star Wars books is like a big imprint for like, here's a picture of a man in khaki. It's got their logo is like a little open book with a D on the left side. And a k on the right? So that's I think that's exactly it's very memorable. They do. They do most of the sticker books we buy. Yeah. There. It is DNA K figure. Well, Dan before a connection blows up again. Was there anything else you had to love to tell you all about molecule?.
