"They were actually in that game and it feels like at least if you talk to Jeff Collins, they have turned a corner, but I think we're really going to find out tomorrow if that's true if they've really turned the corner and are headed in the right direction because olmes is their team that we don't know a whole lot about yet because of their strength to schedule and because they don't know who their quarterback is. We talked to lane at length this week. I don't think I believe him. He doesn't know. And he said it changes not only day to day but play to play and so it tells you both guys are young. They're both 19. He has Matt corral that was there for four years. He used to have veteran quarterback. So it feels like it's going to take a while to play itself out. Not like we're going to get the answer tomorrow. I don't believe. David, I'm curious about something else, not so much that game, but being there for the Clemson game, we're about to see a lot more Clemson as the season turns, but what was your takeaway from that performance, which has been much debated? Yeah. I think clearly dabo and the coaches want DJ younger the latest succeed. And I can understand why. He's a great kid. I've always been through a lot. I totally get that. But man, when cape club came in the game late, it was mop up through the it was against second teamers, but it just felt different. And it just, at some point, you have to think that the direction they're going to go if they're going to be a college football playoff team. Because at least I saw that game was more of the same from the bowl game. We had their bowl game. So it was fresh in my mind and they have all of the other pieces on defense. Primer Z obviously is going through a lot of losing his sister. It will be interesting how for him emotionally how the rest of the season goes and how his teammates handle that as well, tragic loss of his sister to brain cancer, but they have the talent. It just certainly on that side of the ball, new coordinators and then the quarterback situation and I think that the conference is stronger too. So I'm fascinated to see how it plays out for Clemson. Dave pash on the call for all miss and Georgia take many, many thanks, state. We appreciate it as we switch gears to Katie George, who is down in LA shoe as a state comes in there tomorrow afternoon for a huge SEC opener for both teams. Katie, always great to see you. Thank you for the time and we had to we had leech on the other day. Learn more about his flight back from the West Coast and I did about the game plan, but good afternoon and take us through the preparation and what all of us look forward to and try to expect from tomorrow. Yeah, it was a quick week because it took him so long to get back from Arizona so they had to get right to work and tried to give the guys as much rest as possible while still being diligent about their preparation for LSU and it's been a long time since they've come down to Death Valley. Will Rogers did not make that trip in 20 20, so he has never stepped foot in that rude. So it'll be really interesting to see how he takes in the sights and the sounds, his roommate Austin Williams, though, has been a journey man. He's been in college. I think 6 or so years and so he has described the atmosphere of what to expect for will told me a vintage College Station. We've got all the cowbells here and start melting. I think that I'll be prepared. They want to play clean football haul. You're in the last two games. They've turned the ball over four times. You can't do that against Alice used defense. So I think Mississippi state knows that they come in and play really physical. They're going to have a great chance to get a major victory for them. That could parlay and a very, very special season for Mike leitch and his third year. And for LSU, there's added pressure, right? This is the first game for under Brian Kelly and the SEC. He said that you're a Death Valley, it exceeded his expectations a week ago at southern, but he knows that there's added pressure and they have to play while they're retooling a little bit. Of the offensive line, so that'll look a little bit different when we get to pick here 5 central tomorrow, but they're really happy with Jayden Daniels. They feel like he has settled in and they're excited to get it going against the city say tomorrow. Yeah, and you mentioned it. It does seem like there is some urgency with that Florida state laws. First SEC game, but just describe your conversations with the staff and the players and obviously Brian Kelly. Yeah, you know, he was very forthcoming. He said, look, we've got a lot of work to do. They certainly weren't happy with how things went and how sloppy, you know, things were in that week one game against Florida state. You know, we actually visited with Brian bullion, these special teams coordinators said, look, I take full responsibility. That's my job. You know, we attacked the problems on Monday. We didn't attack people. You know, you had two freshmen, true freshmen on the line for those blocked PAT and detrimental and devastating as that was for us you. It was I think just a good measuring tool to show. We've got a long way to go here, but they do feel like they have a great quarterback and day to Daniels, you know, might be in Brock said, look, the guy's kind of knocked for his arms, throwing ability. He's throwing it better than I have seen him throw since I arrived in January. They think that he is ultra talented, especially when he gets on the ground. You know what he can do, Paul with his athleticism. And then look at all the offensive weapons they have on the outside. I mean, hey Sean booty, they're making it a point to get him the ball early to get him going. Malik neighbors is another guy they want to get the ball early too. So he built his confidence. I just think that offensive line has to play clean. No Aaron snaps. Can't have penetration time and time again where Jane Daniels is scrambling all over the field and defense if you can play clean as well and really get after Will Rogers. I think that LSU could skirt by with a win and two in one sounds a whole lot better than one and two if you're buying Kelly. Well said Katie George showing us from Baton Rouge as we head to the break here. Ryan McGee will join us a number of guests from here in auburn in the final hour. If you're just getting on board, we've had quite an afternoon here. We just got through talking to Brian. The head coach at auburn. We will get to your phone calls as well, a little bit later on. We're coming

"Than what we saw over Memorial Day and 4th of July. It's hard to describe just how hot it is in Southern California, but we asked CBS Steve federman to give it a try. The heat wave is going to continue. It's toasty. It's sweaty. I can't stop sweating. There is concern about elderly people and those with medical conditions staying cool, another issue possible power outages with air conditioners being used nonstop, officials are asking that people can serve when possible. An unimaginable amount of rain has fallen in the south. CBS News meteorologist David Parkinson says this is not good. "Checkpoints, then this same Labor Day weekend back in 2019. But every eye will be on the weather because weather disruptions have been sort of the first domino to fall when we've seen these wide scale disruptions occur. The wildfire in the town of weed in Northern California is about 20% contained now. It has chased scores of people from their homes and has burned about a hundred structures. Cal fire is Rick carhartt, says conditions on the ground are making fires in the state worse. Just because of how long it's been since we've had any significant rain. Every day, every week, every month we go without rain, it gets dryer and dryer and dryer. So the fuels are very dry, very susceptible to a fire starting and spreading. If it does start, from fire to water, southern capital city is still without drinking or bathing water. CBS Jim Crow is there. "They're and whatever's been in out hasn't been good enough i they're going out and one of the most attractive lures and recruiting kids as early playing time and it is a story program and there are going to be opportunities to bump guys down the depth chart And in of start with a blank canvas so full the state stands out to me as well. There are a lot of coaching changes last year. And i know there's too many dimension but what what are you sensing from esp. Some really big name. Coaching changes like like sarka at texas. And others are are you. Are you detecting much or is it. Maybe a little early with new coaches. I think the little bit early. You know sarkin texas because of their branding. they are They have been really really aggressive on social media. One thing that. I've seen a shift in with them. Under sark's leadership is the head coach being directly involved in branding of the program via instagram via ticked. Whatever it may be key is personally involved and not only do they have a you know a branding arm within their their football operations department. All major programs do but he's really taken upon itself a leadership role in recruiting to become the face of the program. Not just as a coach or the play caller but in recruiting. And i think that's really really important for the current state of the program. Let's get to the nfl effect because everybody is worried. Sees this Changing recruiting affecting recruiting you. You know this landscape better than anyone it and it's still it's early here too but what are you what are you. What are you sensing and ultimately what do you think It's going to mean well paul. I think the one thing that we've got to understand is regardless of whether we have an i l. or not the best players in the country are going to attend the best programs. That's not changing. And why do i say that well. There's a reason why they're the best programs. They've got more resources. They've got more financial stability. They've got a stronger backing. They might be conference affiliation. There's a reason why in ohio state. A clemson georgia and alabama. You know where. The texas am but florida and auburn. Whoever you might want to say. Lsu all right. They're going to have an infrastructure in an inhouse opportunity. That many programs will have simply from a resources funding in manpower standpoint. So what you're going to see all of this as it relates to pretty because again. This is a lot of gray area here on you know what can we do. What can't we do. There's very few definitive rules Some people have it in a state legislation. Some people do not but the programs that got ahead of this Alabama's one For certain. I know that there are several others. That started to put together a department in preparation for this month's in month in advance when i mean department no differently than your sports information department. Maybe your player personnel department. Whatever it may be but department is completely devoted to navigating this new space and then being able to sell. Because it's one thing how you sell against another program that you are the best place you gotta get that player to choose. You will now. Then i els involved no different than you would present your university during a forty eight hour official visit or you know through graphics and branding and social media you now have to present a three to five year plan of why you can brand that player better than somebody else and the the teams in the programs that have the resources to get a hold of this. I think are going to have a bit of a leg up in the interim as far as making the biggest dent when they do get into homes when they do get kids in the coach's offices and they are out on the road. Tom there there are a lot of people who are concerned that there will be even more disparity you know after the elite when you get to the middle and especially those who who are struggling What do you. What do you see out there. And and and are those concerns true. Yeah i think they're valid. I don't think this is something that all of a sudden is going to get. You know a four or five star top level talent to all of sudden. Say you know what i you know. I don't want to go be at you know team a and team be. I think go to southern miss or boise state or cincinnati and that's not a knock on those programs but the point i'm making is a great player that mentioned going to gravitate towards the great programs and i l i don't think is going to all of a sudden lure a great player away from a great program because again not all programs are created equal. Not all programs are going to have the resources to put together the package. So you know for me in all of this the devil's always in the details right all and have you noticed that we have very little details and how all of this is going to be operated. I think it's gonna be the wild wild west a little bit until the market starts to settle itself and we'll see who made good investments in endorsements with people who invested poorly who put all their chips to the table and it backfired on them. Then you'll start to see things settled down until that happens. Then you're going to see. A certain percentage impala. It's a small percentage. That's the one thing we got to address and all this. This isn't gonna benefit everybody. This is gonna. This is going to apply to a small percentage but that small percentage in order to maintain an nfl endorsement in profit. They're gonna have to do two things they're going to have to produce in their respective sport and they're going to have to have a brand on social media that garner's an awful lot of followers and as we closed down you you you have your hand on on on recruits You mentioned social media. You mentioned a couple of other things. How different is it today from a recruiting standpoint from the recruits standpoint. I should say then. It was five ten or i want to go too far back. Because we're we're talking about the the the ice age but just in the last five to ten years. Well i think that the student athlete has been in a position on the recruiting side. Where they can really control the narrative more so than any time before because of internet you know because of access that other players have to what other players are saying. What other players have access to what programs are telling their peers. And then you have the internet and you have social media and so they can control the narrative. They can build a brand. They can build hype sometimes falsely And then the coaches have not always been so quick to want to advance in change in more with the times and become a student of social media and the space of the players live in and so the the programs that have not thought that and have embraced it i think jeff collins is a great example at georgia tech. He's a branding masterminded. He realized real quick. We're going to succeed in this landscape. We better start talking. The players language and so in the players have advanced. That and i think you'll continue to see an increase social media presence now with nfl players. Navigate the recruiting space. 'cause they're going to realize that people are going to want wanna be interested in going into business with them if they have a far reach and a huge Followership always great conversation with time. Many many thanks. That's it for the show. Today we are back live tomorrow as always taking your phone calls. Hope you have a great night..

"What excites you most about this series between the box and sent? Well, I hope you're honest comes back. Obviously, I'd love to see him at full strength. They had two incredible games during the regular season. If you put a lot of stock in that They were both one point game. Games that Phoenix 11 was an overtime. Janice had some monster games. I think he had a 47 point game. Maybe in one of those, uh so I hope he's back because there's some great matchups drew Holiday and Chris Paul. That's going to be a heck of a battle drew holiday. Also, guy didn't even mention he played terrific as well. There. It could be a great series No one's playing better than Phoenix. In the post season. They've been the most consistent team. They've been the best team. I think if you're honest, it's not healthy. I don't think Milwaukee can beat Phoenix. I like Phoenix to win the series. Crazy right. Think about Phoenix, 40 to 1 in preseason 20 to 1 when the when the playoffs even started, and now an opportunity to cash the check because they have been that team. I'm going to shift gears on you, J B. We heard from Jeff Collins on Dorian Mel earlier this weekend here on ESPN Radio. Talking about how Atlanta would be just such a hot spot for like Georgia Tech you played for for for for a tech? Um, how does name image and likeness? Do you think it's going to help the one percenters or more of the middle class of collegiate athletics even more? I think this is a scary proposition. I Yeah, I think like you said, I mean, Atlanta, are we going to have so much more to offer here then? Norman, Oklahoma lets you know I think the smaller schools we're gonna have a problem getting guys Ed. I mean our players going to be hiring agents, are they going to go out on their own to get these deals? Um, I think it's very slippery Slope are already you know, we know that recruiting is a little bit dirty, and there's a lot of stuff that goes on. But now that you can get it on the open and basically just make offers to kids because you have more to offer off the court. I don't really like for college athletics, so obviously it's not amateur athletics anymore. It is. It really isn't But But then when you see the money that's involved around ID over the last, probably 10 15 years, you kind of wonder. Was it ever amateur athleticism after the dollars have just gotten crazy? I hope you win a bunch of money in the Skins game today, my friend, um, go low and, uh and we'll call it you soon, right? All right. Thanks. There is John Barry joining us giving us some thoughts about bucks and sons. And that is interesting. Katie and I want to talk about name, image and likeness a whole lot more coming up because he said, Hey, you know, Atlanta big cities right? That are going to do Well, think about Vanderbilt being in Nashville. Some of these, you know hard, you know, Texas being Austin. Some of these really hot growing cities right now. But I do this. I disagree a little bit with JB on this aspect of it. It is where you have a rabid fan base is where it's really going to to to take off. Think about Nebraska, right? Nebraska fans are out of control, Katie and they want it so bad. I think this is where some of these programs not necessarily the big cities. It is a small cities where it feels like the that's the professional team. Mississippi State Baseball just wanted their first national title in school history. Starkville right now, Tanner, Alan SEC player of the year. A baseball player could cash in a bunch of money at that aspect, because you are the king. You are Broadway, Joe. Name it in those smaller towns. Could not agree more. And that's exactly what was going through my head because you're the show, right? You meant might think that going to in Atlanta or a Miami or somewhere out in California in L A is going to give you all these different opportunities and, yeah, there's tons and tons of brands out there. That you could partner with. But God think about everything else that's going on in those big cities. You don't have fans cramming and crawling to go to college athletics. You know, I'm from Louisville, Kentucky. We don't have professional sports. So you're the only show in town, so people care about their college athletics and when they care about their college athletics, whether that's Medium town across the states or if that's a small town. People are going to show out and they're going to want to pay because people recognize those student athletes in those areas because there's nothing else going on. Let's go back in and talk about some of the biggest name image like this deals that are happening right now that what has worked in a positive way about some of these schools because everyone has talked to us about over the last two years about the negativity, part of it. Going to tell you why it's the best thing to happen for college sports. Three point Peter Burns, Katie George Best week ever on ESPN.

"They did some things. Well inside the top fifteen havoc which helps some of their epa numbers but the schedules interesting. Because you'd think like hey like evade miami north carolina and not be one of notre dame's five. Acc games in your fine. But it's the out of conference schedule but you kinda just hinted at their the tough start to the season. You're seven and a half point dog out of the gates toll miss right you have. Ucf on the schedule with a much improved coaching staff in an nfl quarterback and then closed the season with another sec team in kentucky clemson's on the schedule and he got tossup games like nc state. Wake forest and efforts you all on the road so again we could get some on her face here right and they just went a slew of one score games in eight or nine but i just i don't see i don't see it for louisville which is surprising because i had a different. I mean. let's not kid ourselves with all of these teams. I mean unless you have a win total going into the year. It's every gamblers. Prerogative in something that we're all need to do. Is fluid especially with college football. Where you don't ever want to overreact to one game sample size but you also don't want to under react because we've seen in college maybe more so than the nfl and professional sports things can snowball and get out of control quickly and if the market doesn't catch up there are times where you see teams that just take on water and if they don't lead to preseason expectations or play up to that or down to it that you can capitalize for three or four weeks if there are some internal issues and issues that continue to fester so louisville be one of those teams that will keep tabs on obviously if they upset ole miss right out of the gates then suddenly we can start to buy back into this program if they lose that game by three touchdowns the writing may be on the wall for head coach in a program. That's not going in the direction. We all anticipated it would rather than get into every other team paint since we've already taken up six and a half hours of relievers time. Hopefully they've broken up. Hey this is what happens in the preseason. Hopefully our listeners have broken this up for all those that have powered through this marathon and listen from start to finish in one. Sitting we applaud. You encourage everybody to go to. And what he does more with less and winston salem with the wake forest i think for our listeners. Like we'd been here nine hours if we broke down every team and we just felt like notre dame being in the acc last year and having five acc games on schedule. That was going to be a little bit more beneficial than breaking down syracuse for twelve minutes. And so i mean when. I look at the rest of the. Acc wake forest you have duke syracuse virginia tech. Virginia rather georgia tech. And you know we know. Jeff collins making huge strides. There georgia tech. But what other team do you kind of see relative to market that. that intrigues. you a little bit. i mean. I think georgia tech is interesting. Just because of the talent we've seen flashes up from jeff sims. They'll obviously have to cut down on turnovers. And i think the honeymoon is kind of over for calling so this has to be the year that they make the step forward and i think realistically folks in atlanta Should have is on trying to get to one of the third tier ballgames. Getting a six wins for them to believe that. Hey look we've already rid ourselves of the system. That was the option offense. Apol- johnson collinses broad and athletes. Can we get there. And they do have some playmakers there virginia. In my opinion bronco mendenhall does more with less. I mean it's a team that you know you have to bring your lunch pail to every game. I'm not a huge fan of brennan armstrong but a lot will be put on his plate. And i think defensively virginia has a ton of holes to try and fill. They'll be a team though late in the year. Maybe early on in the season catching a lot of points. That will find a way to slide in. There is a big underdog but wake forest team for me. Pain especially with a quarterback. Look sam hartman's knocking going to be day one. Nfl star you may not even make an nfl roster but he's a guy for a team in that second tier that i think gives them a punchers chance week in week out and we look at wake forest win toll at six and a half you do have to a dollar sixty to go over the biggest issue. That wake is run into and why. I'm reluctant to ever make a case for or against them win. Total wise is depth. It's one of the smallest enrollments for any division. One college football program right along the same lines of the likes of rice. We know that there are some academic standards that aren't quite consistent with some of the other programs out there and when you look at what clawson is done since he's taken over. This team is twenty five. Thirteen in games played in september and october. The problem they run into and you get to november. The schedule gets a little tougher. You get a little bit beat up and they're just six and twelve there. They didn't outstanding job last year. Protecting the football during and over on less than six percent of their offensive series. When you look at sam hartman is the consummate distributor. I think this is an offense. It's going to be fun to watch. Defensively you lose. Nfl caliber talent which is rare for them. Carlos basham and schedule wise. I mean if things were to go the right way. Wake forest opens up with home. Games against old dominion norfolk state and florida state. Let's call the florida state game. What it is a coin. Flip if they're able to win that and maybe go on the road and steal a game in charlottesville. Suddenly you could be talking about wake forest in a best case. Scenario being six with wins against louisville at home at syracuse. Going into a bye week before they go to army at the end of october. This is a team that i wanna take a wait and see approach to but i think they're flying a bit under the radar. I was hoping that i could get a cheap six. And a half minus dollar sixty probably indicative of where they should be given. the finishing. Stretch of a awake will be a team that i think you can bet on early. And some of these coin flip games because they're so well coached and you may have some value going against them later in the year when they step up and you.

You can print it. Anybody can print up but you own it only you can own it. And that's a. That's a affirmed on the blockchain. Sixty million dollars. Now the guy who bought it uses the name medic cova. But amy caster who i. I don't know from adam but wrote in the blog and i convinced me. That in fact is a crypto entrepreneurs. Been on the scene. For about seven years named vig. Nash some dorasan and furthermore amy caster kind of explained for the first time to me. What's really going on here. So it wasn't Medico vans own ethereal that he spent in effect he created a another crypto bundle called b twenty bought the painting with that and is selling shares. Bits fractional portions of the people artwork to other people in other words. Step three prophet fifty nine. He owns fifty nine percent of be dot twenty. Motta's who else owns it. Be people owns a two percent stake so in effect people bought his own painting or part of his own painting. I'm not that there's any conflict of interest there or is there. But really i think if there is if in your mind there is some question and i'll ask you guys now to comment but if they're in your mind some question about what the hell is. How could how could jay peg be worth sixty nine point three million dollars. And why would somebody a medico van. Spend that kind of money on jay peg. It now becomes clear. He's gonna make money on it
