"It's a good croissant. I'll tell you that much. Fine croissant. All right. Guys, we got a lot to we got a lot to get through in this segment. And I want to start out with the news coming up Chicago that Betelgeuse is dead. Jeff cans will start with you. Well, obviously somebody must have repeated that name three times and now it's showtime. But just not at city hall. Good riddance store. God, she played so many cards that just didn't make any sense, right? It's all because I'm this. It's all because of that. Well, everybody noticed it's all because you were grossly incompetent madam in the city is like the wild west. So fare thee well. And you know, don't let the door hit you? Yeah. You all stole my line was going to be whatever you do. Please don't say beetlejuice three times because she will come back. Here's how I look at it. I look at it like this. Everybody thinks that Paul valis has it because he won by like a 100,000 over Johnson and even more over Betelgeuse, but if The Batman villains all get together, it could wind up being the guy that finished second being the guy who ultimately finishes first. That's my sneaky suspicion. You know Harry, I think you're onto something there. That sneaky suspicion of yours you're bat senses are tingling, the the city of Chicago is I think we know is so racially divided and there is this animus towards Paul valis based strictly on the fact that he happens to be a white guy and he's been endorsed by law enforcement officers. And so if you have the supporters of Lori Lightfoot and the supporters of some of the other folks who finished lower down in that crowd, you're exactly right, he may wind up as the runner up. Now here in Memphis guys, we're dealing with the mayor's race a little bit later on this year. And they don't mind. It really is all about race here and party. But predominantly race. And so the concern and they openly talk about this, which is why it's fascinating and I love when people who are not used to this, they get to see it for the first time and it shocking to the system because this blatantly racist. But nobody here cares. But the problem is they have so many blacks running and we have a nonpartisan race and there is no runoff. So there's one white guy running and you have all these blanks and the conversation in many circles is they've got it, they've got to whittle it down so the white guy doesn't get elected because he's tough on crime. And that's why I think Paul Dallas will ultimately go down for the same reason that great talk show host former police officer Jeff Katz knows. This man is actually openly said he wants to make Chicago one of the safest cities in America and he's pro police. I don't know how he can win with that. Harry, once again, I think you're spot on. I think Todd is raising this great point. I think Harry's hitting it out of the park. Paul valis in any other day and age you would look at and say, wow, this is a guy who is concerned with children on every level, a professional teacher. You know, you may not be an amber necessarily of how he ran that school system, but that's neither here nor there. He is talking about safety. He's talking about standing with the people who obey the law as opposed to the people who break the law and unfortunately it seems as if the lawbreakers now might very well hold the balance of power. And Jeff speaking of education. I want to play this audio. This is Randy with an eye wine garden. She's a she, I think. Man, does she become unhinged yesterday? This happened right out in front of the Supreme Court..

You might have a customer that is going to a private brand versus a market brand in one category, but they might be reaching up and buying a luxury item in another category as they're completing their holiday basket. Retailers, including Macy's, gap, abercrombie, and Fitch, and Urban Outfitters have said that their higher price chains are outperforming their lower priced ones. And Bloomberg radio investors on this Black Friday splurge a little on Macy's Nordstrom and Walmart stock and Best Buy fell around one and a half percent, but it's 13% gain this week is the biggest since May. The Dow is at its highest since April, after rising a 153 points to 34,347. That's half a percent for the day and for the week is up one in three quarters percent. The NASDAQ today fell 59 points or half a percent, the S&P slipped by a single point. The gains are across the board for the week with some assistance from the fed the minutes of the early November meeting released Wednesday showed most fed officials backing, slowing the pace of interest rate hikes. It's the big take from Bloomberg news and iHeartRadio. I'm west Kosovo. Today, green bonds, they're selling billions of dollars worth of them, but just how green are they, really? It sounds like a noble enough idea, a company or maybe a government needs money to pay for a big solar power project or to replace dirty diesel school buses with electric ones. So they issue what's called a green Bond. Green bounds work like any other bun, investors buy them to finance a project. The investors are paid back with interest and they get to feel good about themselves for putting their money into a cleaner future. The increasing demand for this kind of ethical investing has led to an explosion in the number of green bonds of every description. The thing is, it's not always easy to tell if projects described as green really are. Or if it's just clever marketing. That's what we're digging into today. And we'll start with the basics. "And hello America. Welcome to the radio program. Great to have you with us today. Friday, four days until the midterm elections. And we have got a very busy hour coming up. As a matter of fact, congressman Andy Biggs on deck, Robert kahale with the Trafalgar group is going to be here with the latest polling data. And of course, we're going to be taking your calls 8 four four 747 88 68. Right now I want to go to the patriot mobile newsmaker line are good friend. He is a host of the Jeff Kant's show from our great affiliate wrv and Richmond, Virginia, Jeff katt, hey Jeff how's it going? Great Todd, so many excited people here in the Commonwealth can't wait for the midterm results to be known. Jeff, it's going to be an amazing night. We're doing 6 hours of live election coverage here in Memphis and I'm curious about you, what is it going to be looking like on election day for Jeff cans? Well, we will certainly be busy and I say we not not in the regal we, but we've got a lot of folks at wrv who obviously are following things that are going on here in the Commonwealth. We got two huge congressional races that, I don't know, fingers crossed are going to go the right way. So it's also going to be a long, long day. But I think we're all going to be happy about it. You know, it's interesting, Jeff, so many other nations, including France, chief among them, they count their elections. They had their elections that count the ballots all as over with in a period of 24 hours. And now the president is out there saying, well, it could be days, Pennsylvania is coming out and say it could be days. It seems to me that every single day beyond election day is yet another day the Democrats can steal the elections. I'm with you. I got the sense and unfortunately I get the sense looking at Tuesday that they're going to be some places where they go, huh, we're down X number of votes. Guess we better go find X number of votes. Yeah, that's my fear as well. Jeff, big, big election races around the country, Virginia. You guys are not exactly, you know, you guys are not one of the battleground states this go around, but I am curious to see, you know, do you hear your thoughts? Where do we need to be paying attention to what races are going to be important for the rest of the nation? Well, I will tell you there are two in Virginia Todd. We've got the second congressional district, the 7th congressional district, these are two phony hypocritical Democrats who want to tell you they don't go along with Nancy Pelosi, but then they can't explain their 100% voting with Nancy Pelosi records. So I think that's a big one. Another one that's going to be huge is up in Rhode Island, the second congressional district, you have the mayor of Cranston Rhode Island for 12 years a Republican who it looks like is going to knock off the Democrat in Rhode Island, which is huge. That's about as blue as blue can be. Going north, new Hampshire, I think the general is going to take care of the senator and I don't know about the congressional races, but the senatorial race up there, New York..

"I don't know, maybe figures that are not true and it's not common. It doesn't matter. Bob, bob, every single Democrat running for office in this election cycle has been asked that question, and they refuse. They refuse to condemn it. So bob and donning it though. Bob I gave you bob I gave you a chance. You called in here, you told grace, I was full of crap, and then you said you called me a liar and I gave you the opportunity. You haven't explained it. He never did explain what was I lying about. Gotta take a break here, 8 four four 747 88 68 folks will be right back. Come on now. Doctor trudy fleer here with the 5G home recovery podcast. Let's discuss a very real existential threat to Internet speed. It's a big one. Ready? T mobile home Internet. It lags. Now what is lag? Is a delay in data being transmitted across the Internet. For example, you're hitting that hot drop, the parachute cuts out, you've got an unsuspecting butt near sight then leg. You are actually eliminated ten seconds ago. Nobody deserves that. So stop letting T mobile home Internet ruin everything and switch to Xfinity. Learn more at Xfinity dot com slash Timo facts. All right, welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, so glad to have you with us. Today, hour three of the program. I want to go to the patriot bubble newsmaker lines. Our good friends from radio station, KY kn and Salem, Oregon, and east Quinn at Denise hope you're doing well today. I am doing well. Thanks for having me on again, Todd. And from wrva and Richmond, Virginia are good friend and pal. And great all around guy, Jeff Katz. Jeff, how are you? I'm doing well. Thank you, Todd. You know, I want to start before we get into politics. A couple of stories that are hitting close to home for our listeners. First you might have heard the news. We are now slipping or thanks to the Biden administration, the State Department department now slipping American dollar bills into the thongs of Ecuadorian drag queens. Jeff cans will start with you. Gosh, thanks. I don't even know where to begin. There's a great deal of crazy in the swamp at the moment. And on the one hand, I suppose we're laughing at it. The other hand, now I'm thinking Todd, wait a minute. Those dollar bills belong to me and to you and Denise and frankly, I don't want those back. I just want them to not put any more there. Denise, what's you? Oh, that's an image. I'm not going to get out of my head anytime. It's just patently unfair. What about our domestic drag queens and strippers? Where who stands up for them? You see, Denise, I'm with you on this because they're being hit by inflation just as much as the rest of us. Right. And I mean, it takes a good gallon of makeup and the glitter to get all gussied up. So yeah, I'm with you. I think that where is their outrage? I gussied that. That's such a nice old fashioned old timey term. I love that. So Todd, I am going to write this down. This is the moment in time where Todd starring stands up for unemployed American drag queens. I never thought I'd see the day, but here we are. Jeffrey Katz, we must write this thong. Wrong. Yes. So from thongs to Venezuelans who are now living in a high dollar tent city of the New York City erecting this massive and this is going to be a $1 million venture, the illegals are getting they're getting culturally appropriate fare, which means you're getting South American cuisine, big screen TVs, xboxes, all courtesy of the American taxpayers. Oh, good grief. Is it possible to book a week there? Sometime in the spring? That's actually a great point. I mean, it's a free and they get 24 hours security. These people are living better than the average New Yorkers are living right now. Isn't that the problem? Oh, I'm sorry Denise. No, don't go ahead. I was just going to say, I mean, and they're starting I mean, they've had enough of this. I wasn't there a recent meeting in a story of queens with AOC and her constituents are just they're not happy about this. People see this. They see it. It's like we see you. We see what you're doing. Right. And Jeff. The spot on. Yeah. Go ahead, Jeff. I was going to say when your AOC and you have lost your fellow crazy leftists because you've gone even further over the edge. You should probably start paying attention. This is stuff that's hurting real honest to goodness Americans. And I think come these midterms, I think we're going to see a lot of people who say, yep, I'm a proud Democrat, but man, I can't afford to put gas in the car, so maybe I got a boat a different way. And guys, speaking of AOC all right, all right, listen, all right, listen, listen..

John starring show. Jeff cans happy to be sitting in for Todd today. It is a Friday and I don't know about you. Very happy as the weekend is upon us. I really am. Broadcasting from the Liberty University studios. And there's just so much that has happened over the last couple of days. It is really vitally important. And I want to remind you about that. As we take a look at some of the things that are happening relative to the change in society, it is happening now, attacks on good people continue to happen, but there seems to be pushback, I'm going to give you an example. Do you ever watch the acting yets of the view? I mean, it's outrageous. Well, the other day, they were attacking turning point USA. Charlie Kirk and turning point USA, you know, they had the student action summit. Down in Florida. Apparently very well attended. And they talked about neo Nazis there, and apparently there were a couple of neo Nazis outside. But the view women made it sound as if they were invited in. Well, they were not. Charlie cook, Charlie crook Kirk rather, and turning point USA fought back. I just want you to take a listen to what happened with whoopsie Goldberg and the gang over there at the view. Cut number 5, please. So on Monday, we talked about the fact that there were openly neo Nazi demonstrators outside the Florida student action summit of the turning point USA group. We want to make clear that these demonstration demonstrators were gathered outside the event and that they were not invited or endorsed by turning point USA, a turning point USA spokesman said the group quote a 100% condemns those ideologies and said, turning point USA security tried to remove the neo Nazis from the area, but could not because they were on public property. Also, turning point USA wanted to clarify, wanted us to clarify that this was a turning point USA summit and not a Republican Party event. So we apologize for anything we said that may have been unclear on these points. How about that? Well, okay. Well, why not just get it right in the first place? I mean, they're so determined to trash anybody who's a conservative. They're so determined to undermine and demean and attack and belittle anybody who's not singing from their hymnal. They just, it's almost like they can't help themselves. I think it's crazy, but what are you going to do? George Santos is joining us. George is running for Congress in New York. And if I understand it correctly, he's a unicorn is the wrong term, but a conservative in New York in the city? Well, let's find out exactly what's going on. George, welcome..

"The net as a piece up. AP instructs the news media to avoid certain words when referring to a transgender issue. Their new guide says avoid terms like biological male, which opponents of transgender rights sometimes used to oversimplify sex and gender. Oh my gosh, can somebody please someone anyone? Go to one of these book buying sites and send the AP a copy of the Charlie Brown encyclopedia, discuss this biology. Please, someone do that. Please send it over. I'm oversimplifying. You get it? The war on objective reality. See, when you're a conservative and you believe in limiting the power of government in favor of big robust liberty, individual liberty, you don't have any problem, matter of fact you advance the cause of God given rights and objective truth. When you were a leftist who believes in consistently changing the power of the diminishing the power of the individual with the favor of government, you need to treat people differently. In order to treat people differently, they can't be an objective truth because that means you have to treat everyone equally. Hayek pointed out in the road to serfdom, one of the best books I've ever read. Very popular book, obviously millions of people have read it. But he talks about how the essence of government enforce the quality is the fact that they have to treat people. Unequally. If government is going to enforce economic equality across the board, then people who worked hard are going to have to pay for people who didn't work as hard. Meaning they're going to have to be treated unequally. All right, I got more coming up at the top of the hour with John rich. I'm excited to have him on as a guest. He's a good friend. Country singer. Number one right now with his song progress. You can stick your progress where the sun don't shine. That's not my line. Oh, I love it. That's his. In this song. And when that can we play that piece of that Jeff? Can we do it? Is that radio? Okay, cool. We'll play a little bit of that before he comes on. And after the break, more word games for Merrick Garland easily the worst attorney general in the history of the United States, CBD is up to next coming up after the break. We'll be right back. When you take the time to really get to know your body, you find that the root causes of its aches and pains are usually simple. The older we get, the more exercise we undertake and the more injuries we sustain, the more inflammation our body suffer from. It's so simple, and my answer to that pain is relief factor, which I discovered years ago and take every single day to great effect. It helps the body to fight off inflammation and I've never found anything that worked better in my life. I can't recommend it enough. 70% of the more than half a million people who have tried relief factor end up ordering more. "And demons, welcome to highway 93. Dodge is a registered trademark. It's the touch card show, Jeff cans, happy to be sitting in for my friend Todd. I am. I'm excited because the seating I'm gonna let you know a little secrets. I'm headed to a concert. And it is featuring one of my favorite artists. Aaron Lewis? Now, I was a fan of Aaron Lewis back in the stained days. And I mean, they're still out there. He's still doing that, but he's doing so much. As an individual and with the state liners now and you remember his song, right? And a couple of months ago and did it not speak to each of us, am I the only one you know the one I'm talking about? So I've got the opportunity. I'm going to see Aaron Lewis tonight. I'm so excited and just between us. I'm actually going to get the chance to meet Aaron Lois. There are not that many conservatives that come out of Massachusetts. And the two of us will be just pretty close to about 80% when we meet today, but I'm looking forward to that. My bride is heading in the opposite direction, which is bizarre. She's going to see Hanson. Do you remember Hanson? Bop. At this point, I do believe that the youngest Hanson is actually I think he's eligible for social security. But anyway, so she's going to see Hanson and good for her. She'll have fun. I'm sure that's great. Okay, you and I have got some serious business to address there's no question about it. Let me very quickly here we've got just enough time can we get cut number four, please, President Biden? You're okay. You're not going to you're not going to get COVID if you haven't. These vaccinations. Wrong. Because Joe Biden now has COVID as we know. Now, the question really does become. What's the real maneuvering here? Look, I don't want anybody to be sick. I really don't. I don't care whether I agree with you politically or not. I don't wish illness on anybody. And I am that guy, quite frankly, I've always had two containers of pure rattle on my desk. I don't like, I'm not a germaphobe, but I don't like them. So I do everything I can not to get sick. But if you're Joe Biden, that even Joe Biden, if you're the president of the United States. And every single solitary part of your life is carefully planned. Who you're going to meet with when you're going to meet with them how you're going to meet with them when you're going to get lunch when nap time is are you getting extra tapioca the whole thing is is planned out and scripted. So my question becomes, if he can get it, are we now done with all of the COVID hysteria? Is that it? Are we done? Can we now all say, well, looks like anybody can get in fact looks like maybe everybody is going to get it. And if that's the case, do we need updates?.

"Harry, you know, again, when you talk about the issues involving race, the Democrats know Republicans don't like to talk about it because once you accuse someone of being a racist, it's even if you're not, it's hard to erase that from your record. And we've got to be willing to stand up and call these people out no matter what they say. Yeah, they say when you get called a racist and you say you're not a racist, that's the most racist thing you can say. They leave you, you're in quick sand. They leave you no way out. And your Montage on the gray Todd star and show just convicted the Democrats of being guilty of what they charge Republicans with, which really is the sole linsky rules for radical. You take what you are guilty of. You assign it to your opponent and you crush them with it. And that's exactly what's going on. I also think it is so unseemly for President Biden to do what he did. Now, notice he didn't go. I have no problem. It's a terrible thing that took place. And I don't have a problem with anything basically that was said. If they were consistent and set it into all the other examples, white supremacy, black supremacy, but this is only a one way street, gentlemen. Absolutely. Yeah. He was conspicuous by his absence, of course, in the walk of Shaw, Wisconsin. You remember the explanation of The White House as well, and it's very difficult to make arrangements. He chose not to go. He chose not to go to New York with the subway attack. But this is unfortunately being used for political gain on again the three of us. We've all said it clearly. There's nobody here who agrees with any sort of a bigotry or racism or violent behavior, but to Harry's point, you've got to be consistent and condemn it in all its facets. Exactly. "Didn't fall. And like you said, bob, like the old Doc Rivers adage. It's a make or miss league. They made him a game to period. So the key for the Celtics to pull off the upset, which it would be an upset, is move the ball and grant Williams has to continue to contain the freak. If this is the real, you know, but I think that's when I think we're free stopper. We need a shirt. Grant Williams, the freak stopper. Well, but just in general, it turns out him playing the way he's playing is really been a bonus. And you know, so well, the three days now to get, you know, for both smart and brown, whatever is with brown, who he may said he wasn't worried. I think he said that he made that. He played a ton of minutes at that point. I know people were a little concerned. He didn't seem concerned that he tweaked it, anything significant. Okay, so let's go as we wrap up the Celtics. Let's move on and this will include Tatum a little bit, but I think I can't remember it was Jeffrey bob on the text chain, but the three young guns. So Tatum and ja last night with 47 holy cow, my God. I mean, what? The dude is a freaking blast. All I got to say is like, you want to watch some fun TV. Yes. I mean, I would sit there and say, would you rather watch John Moran the fourth quarter or The Avengers? And right now I'm taking John Moran. I mean, holy crap, bob. He's already reached a level where you're not surprised. No. You're not surprised. 47, okay, yeah, okay. That's good job. You know, and that's what he can do. You know that's what he can do. I have a question. Just in general, and let me just jump right to the chase with them, Jeff. Can you see the Memphis Grizzlies holding a Lombardi trophy in 2022? No. Okay. No, I'd be shocked. I would be shocked. I still don't think John's got enough around him. I say Lombardi, trophy, Larry, we knew what you meant, Larry O'Brien. I don't, I don't think they win it, but again, the healthiest team, we've talked about it. That may play in here down the stretch, so let's see if these, you know, I just don't, I don't think members, the end of the day, I don't think they're going to be able to close out a team with a culture like Golden State has with Steph and clay. My God, I mean, you know, at this stage of the game, I don't generally leave my house, but I get on a plane and I go to Memphis and hang on a Beale street to watch a game. And I love Beale street, man. I love that town. So probably you could say the same thing about Luca, right, guys. Luca.

"That there's a big frontier between Breathing james and i actually think gamers could be step up This year Again a little bit of of anti green bay thinking they're a little bit overrated of to be played on neutral field so there's something there but certainly the four and a half i think is valued for new orleans. I will challenge just in this thing. That game is not being played in new orleans. New orleans is a big home field advantage. It's in a neutral site. And so i don't know i mean to me. I would think that aaron rodgers has a lot to prove early in the season just to stick it to the coaches and the gm he so much. You don't see that in. This particular game left one narrative. The other would be that. They're not particularly happy. Playing with each other and rodriguez. Is i mean. They're they're harmony and cohesion. And it's kind of important for team. So i you know i i think again. There's too narratives. They're i think the reality is that from From from probably these offense standpoint. I think teams are probably much closer to even when people realize the difference. Obviously as rogers versus jameson. How big is that different. I mean it's it's big but as it big is it bigger than differences james versus sort of breathe versus rogers which is ultimately what you would look at if you look at. You know the previous year's numbers to make this line and if you did flying would be smaller than four. Now thank you jeff. Jeff can be heard on bet the process with rufus who went to inferior high-school as we've established early on. Thank you for waking up. And doing this. I appreciate it thanks. We'll tell them. "Have sneaky big news coming out of pittsburgh. This is bad and it. Serious steelers superstar linebacker. Tj what is declining to practice. This has been getting very little attention. He's been sitting out since the start of camp wants to contract the steelers having given him one and it's almost impossible to quantify just how good this guy is. He comes off a season in which he led the league with fifteen sacks he had the best pass rush win rate sport meaning. He beat his blocker within two and a half seconds. So he's a superstar. This is a guy. many people are being. It'd be the defensive. Mvp and jeff. Can you explain because again. This is not getting as much attention as i think it should be. Exactly what it is going on there will let me explain why to you just mentioned. Tj watt has been sitting out. he actually hasn't and that's what makes this. Such a weird scenario. Is that because of the fines that players face for a holdout now mandated by the players or not sitting in essentially so he's been going through practices in individual drills but then sitting out team drills and there was sort of. I think there's lingering expectation that that would change once the regular season arrived. It hasn't now mike. Tomlin is scheduled to address the media today. Maybe we'll get some more clarity on what it would take if the team perhaps plans to suit them up anyway on sunday even though he's in team but no doubt a fascinating situation with this added layer the steelers on the fact. They do new deals with players during the regular season. So this doesn't get done before sunday. We're in new territory when it comes to the pittsburgh steelers and negotiations with players.

"Who do you think as the toughest GM job in sports in this city is a bulls, bears, Cubs Sox or Blackhawks? But he feels it's the bears at the top of the heap. I believe it is either Jed Hoyer or Stan Bowman the bears every year every year. Certainly in terms of fan and media scrutiny. See, Here's the thing it's not looking at last year because of the pandemic he didn't hear from fans. There's nobody in there now. He you would think that from emails or just from internal pressure that hears from others at the in the Bears organization. The Bears are not happy with the letters. Of course you would think. But you heard the press conferences didn't seem like it. Phase him at all. Like, Oh, well, you know, we have our guys in place. And Ted does this and Ryan and Matt dudes that that's just you know, that's just weird to me. I think that you have to have a pulse of the city and understanding what's going on the building. You could say everything calm there, but it's about the field. What's on the field? It's average football so far last couple of seasons don't disagree. There's a change coming, my friend. That's not the end all I don't disagree with you. I mean, I mean, I'm simply I'm not telling you. I feel that way. No, I'm telling you, from their standpoint, if they feel like everything's fine now, because Justin Fields the quarterback, That's not the end all use. We have to continue to talk about an aging defense. They can't get to the quarterback the last couple of seasons, so it means like this is why I called George thinks everything is fine. The pie is cool on the window sill and the boys and girls are playing jacks, Ball and Jackson. You know they're skipping along and they're having a nice swim. That's that's Pleasantville. Everything is black and white and Lake Forest. But we're seeing what's real out here where you're seeing average football. Hopefully, it will turn the tide. Hopefully, you won't be average football anymore, but the last couple of seasons not great, and I'm not convinced it will be great next year, maybe down the road with Justin Field, but we'll see. Anyway. So that was the question and Jeff past and was on with Waddell and Sylvie, and the question was asked about with this team surprising success. As the ship sailed for the Cubs to sell. Jeff, Can you play that for me, buddy? Like a They sustain this. I know that if they do come back to earth, this will be an easier decision. But if there is no no, no, I'm going to come. I'm gonna come right now. And tell you, uh, that ship has sailed. I don't think there's rating anyone. I think they're I think they're adding, if anything, really, When did that change? Think that changed when not only did they say? Take first place over but they got eight games over 500. I think that change when Jack clarity got very hurt. I think the jack clarity injury, um He's out for a long time. It would not surprise me if he didn't pitch the rest of this year. Okay, So he said the jack clarity injury changed everything. I get that I completely get that, Jonathan. Here's my point. They're one and four right now on this West Coast trip, correct And a lot of teams struggle on the West Coast. They're still near the top of the division there, okay? But what if 30 days from now? Beginning of July, we head to the All Star break. They've really struggled. They've had a horrible month and there's six games back. You're telling me they're not going to think about selling. I'll tell you, Jeff passed and I love you. I think you're dead wrong. Dead wrong Now, if they're within a game or two of the lead or they're in the lead. I think Jeff's right. The ship has sailed. Then you've got to ride it out. What if they wake up in those offices? It's July. 12th and the Cubs are six and I do not think they're going to go out to add a number one starter and whatever else they might need. At that time. I think they're going to think about trading guys I'd really do. So it starts with Kimbrel. You think, right? Yes. And then but also we'll talk about how good this bullpen has been before this road trip. This bullpens been terrific, terrific. So that's one. What's the next shoe to fall then? Because after Kimbrel That's one of the other position players, right? So who is that? Their biases that result. I don't know. I would be shocked that they traded Rizzo that would surprise me. And by the way, I'm not saying they shouldn't have Should. I'm just saying it was surprised by the way, cap anybody in Miller you tell me if I'm wrong about this, anybody that starts off the comment with No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Uh, not great. Not a big fan of that. Just just give your comment. You're trying. Now you're talking down to the show. Not a big fan of that. I don't like that. Tell me. I'm wrong about that. Jeff, tell you am I wrong Having a debate? Yeah, I know that. Like you can make your point without the nana. I don't need your finger in my face. Yeah. I don't mind that as long as houses playing it. I don't I don't like the finger in the face I How about that? Yeah. Disrespectful You think don't you think? Your question is so inane. I'm not even going to tolerate you finishing it. I'm going to jump in and give you the answer. If you do that on the floor I'll bring my platoon and lunch or whatever the hell else you're saying. You do that to me. Are you going to pack a lunch? Bring a platoon. I'll stand over me. Don't ever do that. I'll bring the lunch that you want me to. And the platoon. But you're not going to do that to me. So I think he did it in a good natured way I do. Do dismissive, dismissive. I'm not a big fan of that. I do think he did it in a good natured way. You can't play it because your machine's broken Now I can get it to play now, but he has me turn down. I mean, it's better because he sure also today, let's let's go for 1/4 time. Earth. This will be an easier decision. But if there is no no, no, no, I'm going to come. I'm going to come right now. And tell you, uh, that ship has sailed. I Yeah, I had no problem with how he handled. Yeah, I don't like that. I don't like that. Well, because those are my teammates. I don't like to. I don't like them being talked down to Yeah, I didn't take it that way. You I mean, you're entitled to your opinion. Thank you, but I'm not. No, no, no, You're not. Exactly. You're not. Thank you for entitling to me. To my opinion, By the way, I just don't agree with you. I thought he's a friendly. I like Jeff a lot. I just think he was like, No, no, no, I'm not going to stop Sylvie. Boom. Here it is. That's again his opinion. I just think if they wake up a month from now, all this angst of today Well, they're first place. What are they going to do? All the chip has sailed. They got to add up. Let's let this next 30 days play out. Hmm. Let's see what happens. We don't know who's injured. We don't know who's not playing as well. We don't know if they're in first place. They may wake up months from now and therefore games up. You got no choice. Just don't be stuck in the middle cap because that's the worst place to be in sports. Agree. Don't be in the middle, agree this is why we're pretty much saying between now and the 31st of this show. The theme of Keiper J. Hood blank or get off the pot. Yes, that's the Cubs figure it out. Correct. I say the Cubs can after this West Coast road trip. I think they can come out from underneath us and they will be buyers at the deadline. That's what I believe. Look look at the National League agreed as of today, But let's let it play out. Because if I'm sitting in Tom Ricketts seat, Okay, you guys want me to spend whatever it's going to cost to keep all these guys together? Better show me that this team is not who they have been the last three years now, having said that, I just don't know who you're giving up. You've talked about some of these minor league prospects in this you only you can't get to five. Give me four. Three or four. Right, So I mean, you can't give up your Ed Howard's and those guys for the future, right? But someone on this ball club that's on the main roster has to go If you're going to try to bolster up because the number one thing you need it, whether it's now or by the 31st is starting pitching. If you feel that you could contend, Okay, so you can't use because you can't move forward with that that starting rotation Okay, their top prospects. Okay. Braylon Marquez. He's a beast. Beast. He's 22. He throws 100 Miles an hour. Brennan Davis. He's 21. He's 64 to 10. He's really good. Miguel a Maya..

Medtech Talk Welcomes its New Host

"I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce the new med tech talk host as well as give him an opportunity to share more about his story. I'd like to welcome Jeff Pardo partner at Gilda healthcare. Hi Jeff. Welcome to the MED tech. Talk podcast thanks worry. I'm not sure. I'm totally deserving of that introduction does very nice and I'm really excited to be hosting the show Awesome Jeff. Can you share a little bit about yourself your background and just also how you got into this industry absolutely? You know it's interesting I. It was not a straight LINE GETTING INTO MED tech at Brown University. Where I went I was a history. Major actually. Didn't take a single science class. I took some economics classes but they were a really boring and I really didn't have any interest in it and But I also recognize. That really didn't want to be a history professor and I didn't know exactly where history would take me so I started exploring after graduation. How to get into business in my first job was actually doing oil and gas consulting of all things and other areas. That hadn't really no idea was doing but I actually was born. In Latin America was put on teams that ended up working in Latin American oil and gas and had a terrific experience and that was my entry into business but then my initiation into midtech really began with sympathies and that turned out to be pivotal to my career development. Why is that well? It's funny Cynthia's was at the time. People probably know now that Cynthia was bought by Johnson and Johnson huge acquisition. Like twenty billion dollars. But at the time Cynthia's while it was reasonably large it was still run like a smaller company founder That owned a majority of the company was really able to shape the culture in the way that he wanted to shape it and part of that was in really tight relationships with clinicians In particular he really mandated that everybody spend a lot of time in the operating room working side by side with clinicians. That's actually not so easy anymore to do in the current You kind of regulatory environment. But at the time we were in the operating room all the time and and it may be realized that I wanted to contribute to innovation on a larger platform in effect companies. In many different medical specialties. So is that how you got into? Venture capitalists yeah exactly so I went to Ward and after Wharton I had a chance to work with cardinal partners. A general healthcare venture firm in Princeton New Jersey and then ultimately went to spray venture partners back in my hometown of Boston and Really was lucky in both cases to learn from some amazing mentors and entrepreneurs in their own right brandon hall. John Clark Dan Cole. Kevin Connors all. These people had a tremendous impact on me and it was really an apprenticeship for a business that you can't teach in a classroom. How South at spray was some of the most. I think important experiences for me. In terms of how to get company STAR WE START ABOUT HALF. The companies in our portfolio with the entrepreneurs filed patents in many cases for these companies but one of the more interesting experiences with solutions which we had invested in the CEO. Step down unexpectedly in two thousand seven and actually. I remember Juliet a backer. Who's now longitude? But at the time was with the peak. What approach me and said she was on the board and she said. Do you want to run this company and I was just you know pretty young guy but I said yes and that's an important lesson for me as I got through microbes. Even when you're not sure sometimes just say yes. That thing's usually important learning experiences. Come out of it and that was an amazing experience because we took a product that was still in a prototype stage yet in the clinic in the early clinical trials. We will find it into a very slick procedure. And we brought it into a full-scale pivotal trial and the device itself was working really well But we also endured a lot of funding challenges. Two Thousand Eight to two thousand eleven is listeners to this podcast probably remember was a very difficult time in medical devices in in particular for spying. Pma's and unfortunately we weren't able to complete the project ended up selling Globus in two thousand eleven and it was not a financial success but so many lessons came out of it for me. I'm sure so. What did you do after that I went? I went back to spray for about six months but during that time also was introduced to the folks from Gilda healthcare and I never met anybody from Gilda but got to know them and really appreciated their strategy of jumping into us. Med Tech at a time that a lot of investors had rotated out of the segment. Why is that well in two thousand eight? There was a financial crisis so that was a time. When you saw pullback from a lot of things but also at the time there was a lot of issues with a regulatory frameworks in Med tech. It was pretty onerous or difficult relationship with FDA issues were reimbursement. Were starting to crop up and a lot of Investors were simply hadn't really had the depth of background in Med tech and didn't know how to navigate some of those challenges so they ended up rotating out and guilt a really brought a fresh perspective in they saw the great products had been developed and the ones that were surviving really were worth investing in and so the last nineteen years For me personally has been an amazing journey through all of that you know. Through the ups and downs of medical devices and through seeing now public market emerged for venture back a device companies which really enables some of these companies to stand on their own two feet rather than than sal out to a bigger company in there's also whirlwind of challenges and opportunities the regulatory and reimbursement landscape shifts. Yeah then you're kidding when you said it's not US straight line. That is quite. The journey enjoyed every moment of it. I mean not that there haven't been really difficult times with various companies but really enjoyed every moment. It's incredibly challenging business. But the really what makes the difference or the people in our business and how dynamic people throughout this business are not only the entrepreneurs and investors but the clinicians also that are really on the frontlines implementing what the engineers are companies Do so it's really cool to be around. Inspiring people on a daily basis and that is a great perspective to bring to the MED tech. Talk podcast yeah when I was approached to do this You know it's exciting to think about what you might like to bring out in a podcast like this and for me really is kind of what I been referencing in terms of individuals their stories and my own story knowing that it wasn't a straight line to get here the chance to interview people and hear about their stories the experiences that shaped them as they were growing up as they were getting into med tech And really understand you know what makes them tick the things that they've learned that have made them successful and the really tough experiences. One thing I'd like to do is highlight failures in our business and the ability to come back from failure the ability to turn around situations. That's something that's not celebrated enough in our business. I don't think people sometimes hide from the more difficult experiences or doesn't go on their resume necessarily and I'd like to start to you. Know I have a small role in changing nat in bringing a spotlight to more difficult things because we learn so much from those experiences. So you'll hear me some of the guests that will bring on. The show is really understand. Kind of what? Facebook's surprise hit Oculus Quest is sold out

"Offer just for talking tech listeners. So today we are at facebook in Menlo Park One hathaway and Sean and make with me they are Vr and our folks here that they oversee the oculus platform which turned out to be a big surprise smash hit at the holidays so popular. You can't get it. It's sold out for weeks but sean working hard. What MESSAGE DO YOU HAVE FOR FOLKS? Who are itching to get that headset on their head while we are making them as fast as possible also. Please stay tuned. Thanks all community for being really excited about this. We have been really a thrilled and really grateful for all the response Believe that it's about a four week. Will YOU'RE SAYING MARCH? That's right that's right. We are aiming for right now in March but We're still trying to work as fast as possible and trying to see actually how the Asia side with the current virus might or might not impact things. Let's talk about why it hits such a chord. Because you've got a a headset that did not have to be connected to anything. It sold for four hundred dollars and something happened to people that made them. I've got to get this thing. What happened yeah? It was really this coming together of a lot of things. So we've taken a lot of learnings from our previous. Headsets really tried to focus on this amazing sense of immersion content. And bring that to a new form factor. The second thing was really trying out all in one and we did this with actually our previous headset. Oculus go which is more focused on media but this was bringing a lot of the gaming side of rift combining that with the standalone form factor of Oculus go and then really trying to nail a great price point for consumers and I think all that came together in a really magical product oculus quest. We're proud of okay and games too. Because they going overseas the Games. Was there something new about the? Games in two thousand nineteen that that struck a chord or was it just the fact that you've got more well. It's both that we have more fantastic games coming to the platform but as you pointed out this is an untethered experience where you really can use that full range of motion to take advantage of these immersive games. And so you look at one of our top games on the platform beat sabre where you are effectively dancing and moving through the space to score points as these music blocks run towards you if you can turn three sixty degrees and you don't have to worry about a cord that becomes truly immersive and delightful experience. Megan your your vision is to start with games but really move into other categories. So explain how. Vr works in other media. There are so many use cases for VR. And we're so glad that the game category is strong and we can start with that but people who play games want to experience other things as well. So we're also investing in a lot of areas around media and around productivity and enterprise and one of the really exciting APPs that came out last year was National Geographic. Brought a new experience to go explore Macho Peach you and that's the type of content. Where someone who comes in for? Games is still gonNA love that and someone who wants to find those new use cases around travel or exploration. They're going to find something as well so explain how. How does it work? What are they seeing How do we explore Machu Pichu On a headset well once you put that headset on. You really do feel like you're transported to that location but you get the added layer of having information about what you're seeing you can learn in real time as you explore that space you can move through it but also see notes from famous scientists and explorers that help you understand that experience there so if you WanNa go travel there in real life which many people want to go do you have that. Added Layer of understanding. And if you can't make it there you still get a taste of what being in a place like that. Feels like. It's also talk about music. Because you're you're exploring concerts and make an jeff can go attend billy. Bush or some other concert together in the front row inexperienced together. Tell everybody about that. That's right. We have a product called oculus venues. That shows concerts sports comedy events from all around the world. People can represent themselves as avatars put on the headset. And then see each other in real time and jump in and watch those events so as you said we had billy eyelashes a performer in venues last year and it was really a special experience for people who hadn't seen her live to feel like they were there for the show with their friends but from the comfort of their own home five each other and do a letter. Well you can. You can wave. You can engage in. It is really special to feel like you're sharing that with other people in the space and back to Sean. Your vision is to wear a headset today. Where is it five years now? Yeah we ultimately want to get to a pair of glasses that lightweight. That's small form factor. You can wear your head
