"ESPN 1000 We have a black kind of dollar show for you at six. Then we'll have White Sox pregame at 6 30. They got this right is Jeff Miller's doing pre and post tonight? Good. We cannot believe Love Eller, Jeff Ballard, Conner McKnight, Scott, Your call Lens in the television booth. Those guys have done a great job and like the way they turned around audio for us the other day when he was doing it, we got to the story really, really quickly is fantastic. We just played you the Tony LaRussa and he said Look, he was happy that he didn't B s his way through the answer. When James Feagans said. Hey, Tony. Here's the rule, and he admitted that he was wrong. But other than that, he I don't know if there was anything else, they said, if they've changed sort of their thinking or the way they're reviewing these rules where this stuff doesn't happen again. That's the key. No, they're in first, but you got to make sure these don't cost you bigger games down the road. Let's bring in Jesse Rogers, who is brought to you by your local Chicago and Toyota dealers. Check out drive a Toyota dot com Jesse is joining us on the Corona Hotline. Jesse Besides the bite, we played about him saying he was happy that he didn't B s his way through it. Did he He talking all about any changes in the way they process this information? No, that was the only question about that whole situation in. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to follow up a little bit later. The Cubs postgame soon was at the exact same time does try to do both at once, but Um, yeah, that's the only only thing and you know, it's interesting at the end you, he said he heard from a lot of people around the league that didn't know the rule. You might think that used to saying that, But I talked to a few people that didn't know the rules, including another American League manager. That was very grateful that I had told him so. I think I said this earlier today like you give a pass if this was the on Lee thing that had happened so far. I'm with you. This is something that's put through the cracks, like other things have and you do wonder about the next thing. So this was the only thing he he addressed in terms of that situation, And you know, like you said he didn't Bs his way through it. But he also didn't know the rule and you should have because Memo was on his desk and springs ECM obviously asking, you speculate, but having been around a lot of players on the Cubs or various other teams, I think you have a pretty good feel for the temperature of some of these teams. If you had to speculate on where this Sox team is with regard to their Trust may be the wrong word, but how they feel about what has transpired. Do you believe that there's collectively some concern inside that clubhouse? Yeah, there's chatter. I've talked to agents of players inside that clubhouse, and there's some concern. I'm hearing it third hand so to speak from the agent. I'm the player. There's some chatter there for sure. The biggest thing that I heard and this makes sense being around players and stuff. It's when you mess with pictures that have really started. The G A legal thing was the big moment. You know this rule thing, Okay? It happened like not another player's knew the rule of the time. Now you heard me. Ask the question of me playing Hendrix gets hurt. This is a whole different story. There's a nationwide story and it's a big deal, but they were fortunate. Didn't get hurt When you mess with pitchers Weatherby Hendricks getting hurt on the basis or Giolito, leaving them in and all that stuff. That's where you start to lose. Players, the position players. You know, you've pretty much they do their thing. But you know the manager deals with pictures every day went to pull him when to use them relievers that whole thing, and that's the chatter here from agents. So what do you think this could cost them down The road? Asked the same question to Chuck. Yes, Yes, It's already cost them in some manner, whether it's games or just trust or whatever the fact that it's already cost him So yes, I do think that Look, He may not make this mistake again. But it's obvious that he has the ability to make these kinds of mistakes, which he never made before. Now, I don't know if he'll learn from them and This will be the last one. But he's a first year bench Ghost. He's the first year pitching coach. You know, the infrastructure isn't the same as it might be with a veteran coaching step on down, he hasn't been around in 10 years, so yes, it is a real possibility accosting them. How could you not think that when when it's only been a month in a week, and we've seen some really strange moves. Are you hearing any chatter that maybe Rick Hahn blew into call Tohno Tony and his staff about Hey, can we You know, across from T s and dot some. I's here. No, I have not heard that. And I did reach out to Rick yesterday to ask him if you would discuss the process, Not not. The blown will just a process of this thing not going the way they wanted. He declined, saying he wanted to look forward. So I don't know. I heard that I believe wasn't Mazzini that talked about They hired a guy in the off season that they lean on for this. Was that your report that I heard? Yeah, Yeah, yeah. You guys will love me. I was on like four zooms yesterday, asking these managers about this extra inning rule. These guys. They're like, Where is this coming from, And then I explained it and I asked Matheny about it, he said. I know I knew the rules. And one reason is because we did hire an outside third party to analyze continually not just like back in spring training like daily to analyze these different rules and and how they affect the team. What you can do moving forward. They have a third party doing that. That's why I reached out. I'd like to know more about this from other teams, obviously, including the White Sox. Um, So yeah, Every team's a little different, but that was that was pretty surprising to hear the Royals have a third party analyzing the rule changes and how they affect Ah, Team day today and how they can better themselves knowing knowing this thing's Jesse Before we get to the Cubs win today, three to do you hear any names that could be like a stopgap? To play the outfield for the White Sox with now, Robert being injured. Well, I heard names that scouts like and at the time, Jeff and I went back and forth on some names. The top of the list is Jake Marisnick. I mean, if you're looking for sort of that stopgap, back up type of guy. That's kind of ironic as he plays with the cards and obviously the bigger deal with the you know Kris Bryant type but a stopgap, A guy like Marie's Nick, Um, the Marlins have Starling Marta, who's been injured if they fall out of the race. I absolutely think he'll be available is a free agent. Now that's more than a stopgap. That's a legit. Starting center fielder The Mets have three, including Albert Almora Junior one of them's on the injured list, so I don't think they'd make a move any time soon. The question is who would make a move soon? You see the standings? They're bunched up everywhere. I do think the Cubs are one team that would in fact, But I don't know that for sure. So those are some of the names Kevin Pilar Album or junior Jake Marisnick Starling Marte A. But I think a lot of this is probably down the line. You probably have to dip down to like a third string to get somebody right now on a team that Someone in the way. All right to the Cubs. They won four in a row. Now, um Who are this? Who are these guys? What is this team to you? It is a new offense. I'm willing to say that I think it's zlook today. So nine hits all singles. When have we ever said that about the Cubs? The last time that happened was like, three years ago? I played a little bingo today. Yeah, I mean, the wind was blowing in and not it's kind of cold out there. Nine hits all singles. And look, Peterson goes down. That gives opportunity for some backups. Half goes down, gives the opportunity for some backup since losses gone to the Duffy's The Marist Nix the.

"Many trio dates by Frank Kimbrough and personal tended to shift round and this a special one with Nelson on basement Wilson on drums. Let's work with Ben and Frank and actually Matt Bolton. I believe also In for No, actually a little bit less often with Matt. Although All three recording for Paul Metal Records for Years villa by the name of the date. Heard century. Frank Kimbrough on piano. Recorded in 2000 and three for Palmetto. As I mentioned. Frank died yesterday morning. Of a heart attack, so not Necessarily have a friend who's In pretty close touch with Frank and He was caught completely unawares, so I don't think necessarily a pre pre existing Condition, pointing out that it might be happening, but Nevertheless, we lost him Bad year for piano players. Last week. We did a Dedication to Stanley Cole we lost a couple weeks ago. And I think the first player One of the earlier players to lose two co vid in this year was McCoy Tiner. Before the trio date. We heard from a Ted Nash Day Ted's read player. And one of the jazz composers collective. Members. It's a double quartet date with Standard Jazz. Set up of reeds in front piano, bass drums, with Frank Kimbrough, Ben Nelson and Tim Warner. Him on drums and then a string quartet. With Joyce Hamon. Very been Ari Round. Lawrence and Thomas all, Rick. Violin, violin, Viola and cello and Eric Charleston in on vibes and percussion. We were the piece called Prana. That was composed by Ted Nash and Came out 1999. On arabesque records. We heard from the Herbie Nichols Project one of four releases, I think maybe the first this one on soul note subsequently. Was shifting the other labels Frank Kimbrough on piano and effectively the leader for The Group. Although Collaborative. Well, this first time they have Frank's name highlighted on the cover, love his proximity, the name of the date and we heard spinning Song, one of Herbie Nichols. Bigger hits, I guess, although Sort of. Ah, Oxymoron to say that Herbie Nichols had anybody gets someone who did was jails did not treat well. Shall we say unfortunate considering Level of his musicianship and composition and performance. Great piano player. Kind of Ah, Lost too many and a pair of Felonious monk and actually Um Lot of correlations between the two Frank Kimbrough, Ted Nash During the raid, Work run Horton on trumpet Ben Ellison base and Jeff Ballard on drums. We started to set with The Monks dreams. Complete compositions of ponies. Fear Monk on Sunnyside CD number two or just Number four. Actually, no disc number three. There we go. Kind of irrelevant in many ways up. Lots and lots and lots of music. Come What The two cities I brought with me have 12 songs on each CD. Multiply that by six and you're talking about Some of the 70 74 have right on there. Compositions. And we heard monks dream. With Scott Robinson. On Actually, Scott didn't Do not play on that e don't have. Oh, no, it's Scott Robinson and Gender Sex. Yes. Um Industry based Billy Drummond on drums Sunnyside and came out in 2018. Could have gone ahead and brought up all six CDs. There's no reason not to Um Just instead picked out a couple things that I wanted to play. Uh, we could have gone ahead and allowed for you, too. You're not going crazy, my friend. Jeff Ballard the tech columnist for the Washington Post has been testing. I believe it's thirteen different phones and thirteen different batteries. And he is going to tell you here on talking tech today what he has found. Jeff, thanks for doing this best tell everybody what you found. I found that surprise surprise many of this year's flagship phones I'm talking about the iphone ten s I'm talking about the Google pixel three in my battery test and some other people's as did not last as long jeers flagship phones. So the, you know, the ten that that iphone ten it lasted about twenty twenty some odd minutes longer my tests than this year's phone. So what we're seeing is the time that these. These things can last keep go is keep on going down. Well, the thing is that they make all these crazy announcements until you if the battery life is better this year that they remove the headphone, Jack, and they put in more power. So you'd have a longer lasting battery. So what they say. And what you find different things. Yeah. You know, we get this claim of of. Oh, it's now it's all day battery life, and you know, and if you believe that I've also got a bridge to sell you. What's really happening here is with the way we've been thinking about phones for ten years. Now, really is added inflection point every new generation of phone was supposed to be like an Olympic athlete. Right. We're supposed to always be faster better and stronger better battery life better screen bigger screen, but the battery technology lithium ion that's using every phone it just it simply can't keep up. And the demands particularly now of the giant screens were putting into these devices is that they draw a lot of power. So too old led screens, which is the latest trend. Right. The iphone switch to that. They also are drawing more power. And it just comes down to that. If you know in this form factor. They can't put enough battery in there to keep up the other problem, actually that's going on. And the reason why we're all experiencing that feeling of running around. I think looking for a plug is that we're looking at our phones more often. Right. I mean as we've been talking about there's this problem with phone addiction. That's going on people can't seem to to to look away from their phones in every time. You look at your phone screen every time you turn it on. That's another hit to the battery. So that's also what sort of driving this phenomenon. Of the thirteen phones that you tested, which one had the best battery life up that would be the iphone ten are. And it is one of the two great exceptions to to the findings on my test. And it's actually really interesting one to talk about a maybe probably a model for the future. So that I phoned ten are is that cheaper of this year's iphones that starts at seven hundred fifty dollars. A my unlike the grand they want to charge for for the other ones, and what they did in the ten are is they put in a lesser screen technology. So to sort of the first iphone we've had in a while that wasn't the best iphone ever right as a compromise iphone? It's instead of being, you know, the the best Cadillac phone that it could be it is the the Honda Civic of of iphones and actually think that's fine because the benefit that we get out of that as consumers is not only as a cheaper. But the battery in it lasts three hours longer. Yes. As if three hour. Hours longer that iphone ten s which is a significant improvement. The ten are also has an LCD screen not the higher resolution Ola screen in that must be the main main culprit. That's right. Exactly. So the number one drain on all of these devices is the screen technology that's involved. And and the ten are uses an LCD screen and older technology doesn't have as high resolution, which is also, you know, it's also a step down. But honestly for most people if you held them side by side be hard to tell the difference. And so I think what's going to happen in the future is that there's going to be more phones like this, right? That are making compromises in various ways both to bring down the price. But then also to make the battery lasts longer. And I think that's a good thing. I don't think we'd everybody necessarily needs a four K resolution phone with an old lead, you know, screen that can show every color ever, invented like some people might need that. And those people are just going to have to plug. Ugh. In more often than the rest of us are a great piece on battery life by Jeffrey Fowler in the Washington Post.
