That's a big one and they better come up with that win because Joe burrow walks in on Christmas Eve. And to a walks in on New Year's Day and then they go visit buffalo in the final week of the season, where the one seed we are assuming will be on the line for the Buffalo Bills where the two seed. What is it like when it's fourth and goal from the one and you hear the number 30 called in the huddle and you break it and what's going through your mind like that moment on Sunday Night. Awesome. Yeah, you know, when you're in the flow of the game, so to speak, you really get really hyper focused on playing the game and your fundamentals and what you practice and things like that. So the crowd going crazy, there's time that between going up and getting up to the line. All kind of just slows down. So to speak and you really just focus on, okay, my steps where I'm going by Amy points, all of those things and really the crowd is kind of not even existing in my mind at the moment. And it's just really really a surreal feeling that you can't really stimulate anywhere else, especially we had that on the goal line, but for the half. I'm going to say, all right, fourth and one, we're calling basically running off tackle to the left, right? And I was like, okay, this is it. This is for us to basically get a two score lead going into half, which is obviously big, again they get the ball back coming out. So I was pretty special moment. Well, but what about now looking back on it certainly knowing your quarterback how talented he is and you've got Mike Williams back at it now and same thing with Keenan Allen, the number of options that the Chargers and Joe Lombardi can pick are too many to mention, even though I just named a few and they choose you.

"The pay is not great, the hours are extreme, the expectations are even more extreme and when we look at the outflow of whether it be coaches or personnel folks from an already kind of small staff, it's significant name guys like Jed fish, who was a quarterbacks coach here for a year in June. Both hard degree quarterbacks coach Mick Lombardi, this is in addition to Flores and McDaniels and Patricia and judge who left and bounce back. Nick Kaley is the tight ends coach right now. He was blocked from leaving. And he probably would have been a good candidate to be play caller offset the coordinator. But I think the Patriots are concerned, reportedly other rear had said this. The Patriots are concerned he's going to leave. So they're not going to entrust him with being the offensive coordinator. So it's a hard place to work. I just don't think Bill has a massive pool of candidates at this point who are beating down the door to come and coach for the New England Patriots. So what is because today it was asked of Belichick that was our today's Bill Belichick press conference moment that we played at the end of our number two when he was asked, is it a competition that's going on? And he said it was not a competition between the two gents who were headset wearers when the offense was on the field on Thursday night. So what is it? Why are both guys calling plays? What do you think? Tom? My theory is that Patricia is going to do it until judge is more attuned to having play calling ability and understanding because Patricia has been a defensive coordinator for many years. So we understand the in game adjustments and communications that have to go on and the understanding of all that. However, Joe judge has much more of an offensive background having both played the position and coached the wide receivers here for a year. So judge has been studying as a play caller all spring. But instead of putting him in the deep end of the pool, they're allowing him to kind of apprentice. That's my theory. And I asked judge about it today, and he said, look, all I can tell you is and be transparent is I just come here and do what the head coach wants. For whatever that gets you. But that's my working theory as to what's going to happen because Patricia is the assistant offensive line coach as well. Why would they spend time with Joe judge working on play calling if it wasn't a desire to make them a play caller? This

"Decommit, how do you deal with the management health? How do you deal with women on campus, how do you fall through or you transfer twice? What is that process like? So what's the realities around the NFL? And it's really fun as we asked over 50 of these quarterbacks at the same 20 plus questions to hear their feedback. So I'm looking at the cover and it's capable of map Barkley Jimmy cost and Josh Rosen up and down the list Sam ellinger will Greer. I mean, it's a who's who of quarterbacks that adorn that 5 star ranking and what we learned in our process was not one of them ever asked for it, but all of a sudden they got thrust into a spotlight. And that's why the cover of my last point that covers their faces because I want fans to see their faces and all too often when a quarterback to miss the school, you see their YouTube highlights, you see their arm, you see their ranking. But you often forget that there's a human in there. And while the pressures can be to grow and Ryan, you know, there's better than anybody. The development of a 19 year old is pretty much the same across the board. Like your brain is still developing, you're trying to figure out how to deal with this thing and that's why in the book we added not only quarterback answers, but 40 ambassadors of the game. Offering their advice. Brenda Tracy offer your advice. Mike Gervais, the psychologist offer your advice. Pete Carroll, Dan lanning, Lincoln Riley, David Shaw, Jed fish, Ryan day, all the people that I really admire in the coaching and football world to say, give these guys a road map. Just one thing to take away and that's what this book is, man. It's one of one right now. And I think it's going to be really cool for a player in the family to dig through and be like, you know, I got a question about this. Go to chapter 8 and talk about recruiting. Or whatever it may be. I feel like, you know, when I go around the country and speak in parents come and ask me about when they have a child that's super into sports and is athletic and is getting a lot of notice, I love now that there's you're right. Unless you've experienced it, you really can't speak to it and to have a resource like this will be huge. I think for parents. I have a four and a half year old at some point. He's going to realize some athletic level of success and I want to be able to give him the best advice and so I appreciate you putting together doing something like this. Talk to us a little bit about the elite 11 counselor aspect of this. You've been doing it for a long, long time. You watch how this process is built and built and built and how it's become a huge part of the recruiting process and giving guys a leg up when they have the opportunity to go to the collegiate level. Yeah. I love a little island. On many fronts. The guy who founded his name is Andy Barr. I met Andy bark in 1999 when he kicked off the Nike camps, which anybody from that era on its familiar with. You'd go to campuses around the country or venues around the country and you'd have a free camp to showcase your skill. Andy started it because he wanted everybody to have somewhat of a level playing field, whether you're the son of an elite quarterback or whether nobody in your family ever played the sport. But just show out show up and see how you can feed. And meeting him then and then being around him at a sea when I was coaching. He was always around. And then working for him at the elite 11 has been one of my life's choice men because I get to meet these young men at 16. So whether that's phonak's or Jared Goff or Christian Attenborough, I mean you can go up and down the list. It's kind of the hoops who have QBs. And they are told prior to camp, how great they are. That's all they're told, Ryan. And you know this. And when they get there, what I found to be overwhelmingly common is all they want to do is let their guard down and get some help. Get some guidance. Every time I listen to these quarterbacks, talk in the media prior to us meeting them, they sound like political figures, right? They're just saying all the right what they think is the right stuff. Cliche essential. And actually, you're more than a ranking. You're more than an elite 11 quarterback. You've got a story. You've got a heartbeat. You've got a soul. Let's tap into that and help share it. So I say that with the elite 11 and now Trent dumplings from the head coach for over a decade and our staff is off them all across the country. What we really take the most pride in like football, that's easy. Like, we kill that quarterback development side of it. But we call it beyond the where we dive into offering them up with tools to deal with all the pressures. So whether that's now NIL, we had Jaden Rashad in this year, the day after he reportedly was getting like 9 million to go to my end, right? You need a tool to deal with that. And you can't just turn your phone off. That's what our sessions would be about. Whether you name the topic, whether it's media training, mindset training, exo on the board, outside of life, how do you deal with finances? How do you deal with NIL will bring in the CEO of open doors? We're trying to pour in in a 48 to 72 hour window as much as possible. And I love it because when guys come back because they always come back as counselors, whether it's EJ Manuel or Mark Sanchez or all the top guys in the country usually come back and put them up. Like this year was Caleb, it was price young. It was CJ Stroud and it was during south thrombosis. And it was Devin Larry at NC state. They just rave about their experience that they went through. And they pour back into the group. And it's a secular community of how do we pull back into the position? How do we pull back into people? In my role is really to do that over the course of those days. But then when their careers are over, you want to be surprised, but other people might be surprised at the amount of young men and I talked to a mentor when they walk away from the game. Right. Those are the calls I get of like, hey, I'm thinking about getting married. Hey, I don't know how to deal with that playing. Hey, I just got out of rehab. Hey, I just got out of a tough situation in life. Hey I'm going to quit my job because I want to do X, Y, and Z and that's where I love that part of it because it says to me and our staff at a 16 we had somewhat of an Intel. "There's a coach who I think we both thought might be fired by now who, in fact, seems to be dug in, and that's her Edwards. And last week, two more of his assistants resigned due to the NCAA scandal Antonio pierce who is the face was the face of their recruiting and the D.C. resigned. But by all accounts, ray Anderson, the AD herm's former agent is still sticking with her amidst this investigation. And Michael crow the president who would be the only one who could override that at this point. For all, from all indications, we haven't heard from him directly is also standing is standing by both of them. Yeah, and look, as long as the as long as Michael Crowe is on board, I'm not sure how much that changes from everything. My understanding is that as you is going to battle through it and you know, we mentioned Bruce pearl a minute ago. I mean, auburn stayed by him is Herm Edwards and ray Anderson going to be the way they were going to take our lumps with it. We'll make our case to the NCA on okay, this is what we did. This is why we did it. You know, what is the punishment going to come from it? And we're going to come out the other side with ray and harm still leading them. I don't know. Well, it sounds like they're probably to your point. Following the college back wall template, I mean, some of these college basketball coaches who got swept up in the FBI thing from a few years ago, Kansas got hit with the newest allegations against Kansas basketball, would have gotten pretty much any other coach fired and Bill self is still standing. We'll wade was caught on a wiretap, the LSU coach. You know, bragging about making a great deal for a kid. He's still the coach. I think the old way of doing this was you'd throw that you fire the head coach and beg for mercy from the NCA, the new way is you just fight them and say, you know what, what are you really going to do to us? And so that's what they might be doing. The bizarre part about that to me is what is her Edwards actually done there that you were going to bat for him like he's Pete Carroll at USC. He's 7 and 6, 8 and 5, two and two, 8 and 5. This past year was their best season in the PAC 12 they went 6 and three in the PAC 12 tied for second in the south. Went to the Vegas bowl lost to Wisconsin. And because of the scandal, then in the way they're operating. They're recruiting class this past cycle. The one that just wrapped up was the worst in the PAC 12 and the worst in the history of that program. And yet they're going to fight the NCA tooth and nail for him. Yeah, do you remember like two years after her and got there, you and I both kind of were like, man, we were wrong. Yeah. You know? In the last two years. Yeah, it's kind of it's been different, but it's like, I mean, they've been a little better on the field than I thought. But it's been as seemingly dysfunctional and off the rails as it kind of felt like early on that it was going to be. And remember, the bravado about word redefining the head coach model, this isn't so innovative here at a issue. And this is going to be the new leadership model wall. Four years in the new leadership model has gone 25 and 18 and resulted in half the staff getting fired in a NCA recruiting scandal. And it's also happened at the time when USC has been its lowest in probably forever because they were awful this year and they've been had a lame duck coach for three years. UCLA had three three bad years. I've told this year, Arizona just imploded under Kevin someone and just went one and 11, there are trival. Now I think they're and now they're the ones with momentum. They signed a top 25 class and also in the division like Colorado had one Colorado has been really down. So it's like, this would have been the time to really exert and obviously Utah has done that, but we'll see. I would have thought at by now that they would have said, hey, we can't keep this up, but the AD and the president seem to be going in a different direction than that. And I don't know what it's going to look like on the other side with Brian billick, how to roll out of my understanding is it in picking Glen Thomas from you and LV to be The O.C. there after Zach hill ended up resigning in the wake of their investigation. That's the other assistant. That's the offensive coordinator. I mean, that's a lot for a program to kind of manage to have so much so much transition in the middle of it from coming out of a recruitment and alleged recruiting scandal. In 2020, Arizona state signed the number 24 class in the country. Really good. Then COVID shut things down. And that's when these allegations happened. That was the year that this dossier arrived and said that they were during this long extended dead period where you weren't supposed to be bringing kids on campus that they were bringing kids on campus. And they were doing these visits. And in such and such that year, that all that cheating resulted in the number 52 class, and then the one they just signed, and this is staggering. We're talking about a power 5 program. A 106th in the country. I mean, I think the longer they dig in on her. If you started over, and who knows what sanctions are coming, but Tennessee has got sanctions coming at some point, but they got hype one place. He's building his program. There's some momentum. I think the longer they stick with harm, the worse this is going to get. And they'll probably end up becoming what Arizona became that Jed fish is now trying to resurrect yeah. You might be right. It feels like it's headed even into a slipperier slope that they're going down..

"To my season tickets Now I can't wait. That should be fun next week. Um, the Minnesota Vikings lost in overtime correct to the Atlanta Falcons, right? And then they lost to Cincinnati. I think no. Was it Cincinnati Sanadi. It was Cincinnati beat them. Who did the Who? Okay, I got the game wrong, but I know that they lost so they lost in overtime. So the Minnesota Vikings lost a heartbreaker, and they've got to come in here this weekend and play the Cardinals. That should be a fun game to be at opening day if Chandler Jones does a third of what he did. That place is going to go. They're going to be ballistic. The Vikings have Patrick Peterson might be a name that you remember, of course, Long time Cardinal cornerback. He's over with the Vikings now and still very clearly very agitated with the cardinal and Yeah, very good player. He's going to have some billboard material for the team. They're coming off a loss that they think a game. They should have one and they were winning. So it's going to be fun. This I I like football season anyway, um, college football. You know, it was a rough weekend for me. My boys won by two points whenever they go on to win. Yeah, they beat Appalachian State. The Miami Hurricanes of old only beat Appalachian State at home Now States a great program going to win 10 games, But you are the Miami Hurricanes. Someone sent me a meme this weekend that said that they're now renaming team to the tropical storm. They've been downgraded. Uh, I thought that was very funny. That's really good. I have to laugh at a good joke. When I hear on the Miami Hurricanes have been downgraded to a tropical storm. That was very sad. And I will tell you from my perspective. It's a tropical depression. I can't believe you haven't heard that one. But no, I hadn't heard it before. Your boys lost here. Ohio State Buckeyes lost. I don't want to talk about it to Oregon s. You want a big game, right? They played. They played great. They looked a little shaky at the beginning, but you know, they look fantastic. Should be good. Now they play BYU right. Then he play right. Jeff and I write about that Saturday night 7 15 game at 4 30 No in Provo, Provo, and the broadcasters will be there and BYU is coming off a big win, beating Utah. Right. That's huge. That's two ranked teams, and that is a huge rivalry in the state of Utah. Kind of like here like territorial Cup. Absolutely. So that was their coming off a big win. So I love talking. Don't forget you have a big win. Oh, wait, wait. They haven't won a game in too. Don't get me started on that, Steve. All right, let me ask you Let me ask you as the resident college football expert Jeff. Which loss was worse you of a loss or Florida State's lost to Jacksonville State, Florida State's loss. I mean, Arizona's, they weren't favored to win that game. I don't believe the only thing that was tragic about it was Jed Fish going on Twitter, demanding fans packed the stadium. Jed, you're in Tucson. They don't show up until you start winning. Yeah, but here's a little note. I get this in real quick as soon as that Florida State game ended, a Florida state lineman who had planned to do this all along. Went down. It was on the field proposed to his girlfriend with Jacksonville State players celebrating all around him. No word on what her answer was. Yeah, well being divorced. "And their favorite in this game, which speaks volumes as far as I'm concerned if you watched him last week, they played BYU and the game was at In Vegas and BYU had the whole crowd like a home game for BYU, and they actually help gain be ru 4 26 to 3 68. It was a close game. Yeah, I think BYU was a big favorite in that game and Arizona give him a good game. Yeah. Yeah. They gave a really good game and really outplayed him on the stat sheet. The quarterback, their new quarterback looks really good. Um, he threw for 336 yards last week. They've got a new head coach, Jed Fish is his name. Lots of experience came from the Patriots last year has been with the Rams, Michigan, you ClA They really, really like him. The players really like him and after the way they played last week. I think they have a really good chance. To get their first win in 13 games. San Diego State last week played New Mexico State whose terrible New Mexico State has won one of their last 18 games. And they got outplayed. San Diego State had fewer yard left yardage than New Mexico State in Mexico State lead at halftime. They didn't look good at all. I think they're going to go on the road. This is a huge game for Arizona. They've had a good week of practice. They know they have a good chance to win this game, and there's a reason their favorite and I'm taking them as long as it's under three. I'm taking Arizona. Okay. Time to get a pick for me. Uh, I'm going to pick a team whose program I don't like. Because I think it's just a really, really good situation for them. I'm looking at the game between Nebraska and Buffalo, Nebraska is favored by 13.5 points and I'm going to take Nebraska now I'm not a fan of the Scott Frost program. At Nebraska. I don't think that that team has looked good from the moment that he's there. I think players have underachieved, including their quarterback Martinez, But, uh, folks in Wisconsin may know about Buffalo. Buffalo is the team that was coached by Lance Leopold, the farmer Whitewater coach. You did a spectacular job with them. He's left and he's at Kansas in Buffalo had a zillion transfers. I think I write about this. I think Buffalo had the fewest returning starters of any n C. A football divisional series program, including a couple of those teams added a bunch of guys go to the NFL. Many Buffalo players transferred from the team when the coach left it. I think that they're really going to struggle early on Nebraska, on the other hand, is well motivated. They lost their first game in the big 10. Two weeks ago to Illinois. They beat Fordham an FCS team last week. They have the advantage of two games under their belt. Buffalo only played. I don't recall who the team is. Mike might know as somebody from the Northeast and FCS team, which is a misleading results. But I think that buffaloes and undermanned team against the Nebraska team in which the coach is fighting for his job. Nebraska needs to get its mojo going. They have talented offensive players. The light is reasonable. I think if you look around and look for a game in which there might be a route, I think it's possibly this one. I grant you. The Nebraska situation doesn't seem ideal to me and the coaches. Have never been in sync with the players there. But I think that of all the teams in college football that will make a significant decline from being good last year. Too bad this year buffaloes near the top of my list, So I'm going to take, um Nebraska to beat Buffalo by 14. Or more. The other game I was looking at in the NFL is the game on Monday night between Kansas City in Cleveland, the Chiefs are favored by six. I think Cleveland's better than Kansas City hygiene. I think Cleveland might be the team that goes to the Super Bowl in the A F. C. And I think that Baker Mayfield, maybe just as good as Patrick Mahomes. I would have taken Cleveland in that game. But instead of doing that, I'm just going to stick with Nebraska with the caveat that I'm not a fan of the Nebraska program, but I think Buffalo is going to be awful this year. Any quick thoughts on that one. Yeah, Buffalo is going to take a step back for sure. They played Wagner last week. Who's They're an FCS team, but there's just like an after a bad one. I think they're like a Staten Island or something. There are a week of their their bad. I mean, just like FBS. There's You know if you play a good FCS team and play him close, that's different. Wagner's terrible Buffalo Bloom out Buffaloes only got 46 returning Letterman, 10 starters back new coach I think they're going to take a step back. I'm with you. I don't like Nebraska at all. We went against him the first week against Illinois, laying seven at Illinois, which was a bad line. I thought But at home if he gets a chance to pound people he didn't last week, Um, against Fordham. They won 52 to 7. If he gets a chance to pound people at home. He's I think he's had he and he did that when he was at Central Florida, and they have to build positive attitude on that team and beat and remember Buffalo as a team. Buffalo had an outstanding record two years in a row. They won the Mac two years ago. It's not like this is a team that doesn't at least have a name. They have every motivation to try to beat them. But it's not the same Buffalo team what with all the transfers. I mean, I think I have a good pick here even though as I say Um Scott Frost is going to be fired at the end of the year in Nebraska. He's a bad fit for that school, but I think they went this week. Mike, Can we do us a favor? And can we stick it right to the commercial break to get maybe two minutes of your thoughts and Green Bay? They were a premier conference. Ucla they strolled into sec. Country and whip the likes of auburn arkansas. Alabama oregon washington and ucla were national powerhouses stamford in the arizona. Schools are always very respectable and pac twelve always fared well in bowl games against other power five conferences. It's so bad now. The pac twelve has gone eight and seventeen straight up six nine thousand nine against the spread in bowl games in the last three years with only three wins. By more than six points worse there are paltry three and fourteen straight up one sixty innings to spread in ballgames against foes. Coming off a win with the same span so you put on a level playing field and they have not done well. It's so bad since the college football was introduced check college. Football playoff system was introduced. The pac twelve has just made two appearances going one two and they failed to appear in three. The last five seasons missing out on four straight years not good so long. The short of it is the pac twelve nowhere to go but up. They got athletes out there. They just keep ending up and other schools. And you know as long as usc is down it seems to seemingly dragged the rest of the conference with it. But maybe they'll be some new blood that'll turn things around like arizona's jed fish right unlike the numerous head coaching changes. We've witnessed in the past well. Pac twelve has just one newbie this year. It's arizona's jed fish. So fisher places kevin someone who was sort of a dead man walking following last week you know. They were winless last year. In three seasons. Arizona salman failed to register a winning season while going nine and twenty nine hundred ninety one against the spread so look arizona anders the twenty twenty one campaign with a twelve game losing streak. Let's start with the north division random cow. We're gonna start with cow all right now safe to say that last year was brutal because kobe but no one was hit harder than cal. Bears the opened up. You know they were eight and five the year before they had their first bowl season for years. Eighteen returning starters last year including their quarterback. But you know really. They had it real bad issue with with kobe. Top it off. Seven seniors from last year's team opted to use their free jubilee year this season so cows got nowhere to go but up. they do return eighteen starters. But you know they're not considered one of the great teams in the conference. I will say this though. Here's a stat. you like the bears. They've won six consecutive games against non conference power five opponents. That's impressive art oregon. Probably i could tell us going to be the class of the conference. And their coach mario cristobal. He's twelve and four against this bread versus undefeated opponents. Well he's gonna get one next week in. Ohio ghetto house state including nine and one in the last ten games or game again had a issue with covert last year. However you know. I think they're poised to certainly to the pac twelve championship game if not beyond. But it's gonna come down to that game against ohio state oregon state. Interestingly enough they have ten starters back on offense nine starters back on defense and you know you never know how they're going to do. The they won. Last year is a thirteen point. Underdog in the civil war against oregon. They lose a quarterback who is there linchpin. Jake lenten and you know. That's always concerning in the beavers. The fell from number twelve of the nation last year and turnover ratio to number eighty four. So corrigan does not have much margin of error check oregon state. I don't know that you can pencil them. And to do anything. Spectacular this year stanford again. Here's a stat. You like about stanford seventeen and two straight up fifteen and four against the number and games when coming off. A loss is favourite. What that tells me is. David shaw who i have a lot of respect for. And he's very good coach they'd ever leaves stanford typically does not play to gain too bad games in a row all right and they had the number two recruiting class in the pac twelve this year and they moved up sixteen spots over the five year average. So david david. Shaw is recruiting right now. They've got a tough patch. The last two seasons of edges four the two years however. The bottom line is i. I'm a believer in david shaw. So as the season goes on stanford's win totals only four and a half. I'm not big on bedding season win. Total but i will say this i think stanford will be dog and many games this year and typically their value as a dog. So just keep an eye on them. Not that they're to go and do anything crazy this year when the national championship or go to the playoffs. But i think it'll be valuable as a dog. One of the most intriguing teams is washington. The huskies they bring back ten starters on offense. They are believed to have the best offensive line in the all of college football. The average three hundred and twenty eight pounds per man and they've recruited well and a lot of the players have chris. Peterson recruited while before he left her there. No their coach. I don't know much about their coach. Jimmy lake we're gonna find out we're gonna find out week to when they go to michigan a three point underdog and sharp people. I know like washington in that game. They bring back a lot of experience on both sides of the ball. Eighteen starters including ten off a ten on offense in that offensive line and they have a passion. I by the name of zion to beulah fatuity. And that's gonna he. He's a stud. The problem is he tore his achilles. Miss this season so but washington. Another team is fairly consistent. They've finished third or higher and pac twelve scoring defense every year in the last seven years again. Keep an eye on them as they had to michigan and week to washington state. Well the cougars. They had a crazy year last year. The first year without mike leach and the results spoke for themselves. They played four games. The only one one. But i do like the new coach nick. Role of itchy comes from hawaii Give him time to implement a system. They're up against it right now. I i will say though that he is always been an offensive minded coach more so than a defense mining coach case in point. He's only four and twenty three straight up three and twenty four against the spread anytime. His team scores fewer than twenty eight points. So you look to the north division to me. It's all oregon the south division arizona. Arnie's wildcats they do bring back seventeen starters but they are you know. They've got a lot of rebuilding their nine point. Underdog against byu. Here coming up the they. They really had issues last year on defense and almost every one of their games. First of all they were minus nine in net turnovers terrible. The also surrendered with every opponent. They played the saudi season-high or second high yards and every game but one in arizona was scored twenty three points per game. Nowhere to go but up. Arizona state now the sun devils. Keep an eye on them because they're pretty good as a short favorite their fifteen into as conference home dogs more than five points and they're not bad as a short favorite. So this is a team that you know led the nation in turnover margin per game last year. And they do return all eleven starters on defense. Not sure how is uh state's gonna do but their quarterback john daniels he's back with. I believe the best running attack possibly in the pac. Twelve and the best pac twelve scoring defense arizona state can be real sleeper. The trouble is there with colorado. Colorado is a team that has high expectations. You never knew if their expectations are going to be met last year. Their new head coach. Karl durell inherited a team. That had been really screw scuffling the last couple of years but colorado typically typically. It started fast and the last four years fourteen and two in the first four games in the last four years they had they do have to go up against texas am on september eleventh sharp people i know like colorado is a dog did they. Aren't you saw ucla today. Ten starters back on offense. Ten starters back on defense and chip kelly. Maybe things will kick in. He's been kinda bullies. Ucla or twenty eight and one against sub five hundred college football opponents in last few years the game to watch that they've got circle at stanford. There'll be a dog most likely. Ucla can't rule out but between them and arizona state. It's going to be a situation where how well can you. Can you perform what matters most a key game. Ucla has next week. The host lsu. They're loaded with a ton of talent. They'll be a dog. Sharpies i know are already on. Uc in that game all right. I think the pac twelve this year not forget about utah by the way the real key to utah. Success has been simple kala wittingham. He's improved the school's recruiting dramatically more than anybody almost in the entire nation right. I mean we're talking about moving up. They ranked he sings. He's moved up thirty one spots in the last five years and got a then cameron rising. He won the starting job last year but missed spring camp with injuries. They also have a transfer quarterback from baylor named charley brewer. Utah is always is always going to be competitive because they play defense and one beauty of utah and this is key in cana capping football if you gain your opponent. We all know that you'll add you. Bout not turning the ball over and winning the turnover battle. You win the turnover. Bali went about seventy percent of games out gaining. Your opponent is a big thing to the overall yardage winner and the utah games. Last two seasons has been utah. Eighteen nineteen games so clearly. The talent is spread to the south. I think it's going to be between washington and oregon. And the north you'll be between usc arizona state and i would say utah in the south. Well we're the lincoln and ucla. Can you prove on chip. Who knows i like nothing better to see the pac twelve finally rise up after all these years of being really sort of relegated to being perceived as a second rate conference they're not but performance wise. No one was high on that higher on a good thing. But i think by don brown to come in from michigan i do believe on ground dot brown was a really good defensive coordinator. He hired chuck cease. Will someone familiar with the arizona program. You've gone back to their uniforms from. The desert swarm days when they were a top ten team and they brought in a lotta. They've they've really soaked up a lot of that culture. Can i say i love. I love everything. He's doing for all the same things you're saying right. I think we all saw last year to they gave up to arizona state They lost seventy two seven. But if you go back and do your homework fade someone. Linear was great. If you go back and do your homework on that like usc needed a deflected pass caught on fourth down to beat them The colorado game was closer than the score indicated. We had like a pick. Six late I don't think they're as bad as what we think they are. I think the team's got talent. That running backs. A stud the the i think they're just a decent. Yes they're going to be bad but not that bad. And i think they're going to do it. They gotta get some wins early. 'cause they start off three home games now. Granted is byu siegel state but northern arizona. You gotta get that win the got. Ucla at home they have washing it at home. I mean they end pretty tough at at at washington state at arizona state and utah at home. I i don't know. I feel like they gotta win a couple early. Yeah there's a decent shot that go three no. I think there's a decent shop. Byu lost twelve point dog to byu the most production out of any team in the nation. Yes do they reload better because everyone's twenty eight years old at ub y you shore. But no but i mean even if they go to and one probably a little bit more realistic because byu's coming in such a heavy favourite but you can get to two and lawn. Does their zona team can squeeze out one more win that cow game. Maybe i mean it is a tough schedule. Maybe the one in poelman schedule. i mean. we're going to talk about a couple teams. I think i think we're gonna notice. The pac twelve has tough schedules. Maybe the extra conference game. Maybe some of the non conference schedule always aggressive. Atta conference but i it. Just it's it straight up like once you get through those three games that you said maybe they can go three and and get you over the total right there after that. It's really hard to find a win. It's really hard to find. Find a like where. Where are they going to be favored. I don't think they're going to be fair. But i think we can. I think they can win one game elsewhere and potentially win four games or three games. Yeah i just. I'm under a two and a half. I like with this. I like i like the angle that jed fish is going but when no one's excited about a higher and and to your point they might have some talent. I just. I'm not. I'm not i'm certainly not going to bet on it. I don't see where they win a game in the conference. I think they're going to win one game in the conflict crock hears about this. They're gonna be in some games. They're going to be some games. That you're not thinking gimme arizona on the over colorado kobe your buffs. Four and a half is the win. Total over minus five undermining one fifteen sixteen one to win the division thirty five to one to win the conference two hundred and fifty to one to win it. The the strong should get even stronger right that they if if i'm a very top athlete and let's say i was like i want a good education. Let me go to north western or michigan. Wait a minute. If i can make a million dollars at ohio state. I'm i'm into the hershey right. That seems the way to go One last play in the in the pac twelve. I'm gonna go under two and a half on arizona to me. This is a this is a listen kevin. Someone had to go. They lose seventy two seven to arizona state in his final game. They go jed fish who's worked under shawn mcveigh's worked under bill belichick. But he's got his work cut out for him last year. Starter grant canal. He transfers to memphis so will plumber. Their quarterback played three games. Last season was not particularly good in them. And now he's gotta learn a pro style offense when they've the arizona's played under kevin someone sort of a wide open and before that rich rodriguez now. You're asking a team that's got not. Nfl talent to learning nfl type system. I think there's going to be some real growing pains. I think eventually this is going to be a good hire for arizona. I just think it's gonna take a long while to get it done. They return a lot on defense. But this is a defense that like i mentioned arizona. State put seventy on. So is it good that they're returning these guys. They've got one paycheck game on the schedule against northern arizona which isn't a total free square Just just to be fair. They're like a they're a mid pack team in their conference There other out of conference games san diego state and byu who are both better than average non power five. What's interesting is. Byu did lose a ton of talent from their team last year. They're still laying eleven and a half right now at arizona that speaks volumes. You know what if. Byu's laying eleven and a half and you're in your home at your crib. You're not going to be favored in your conference dough. And their cross division scheduling. They get washington. They get oregon. Guess where they miss oregon state and stanford the two worst teams in the north. They miss both of them. And even the easiest conference games on their schedule which the most winnable on paper colorado washington state. Those are both road games. It's just everything. Lines up to arizona under two and a half you can get that plus one oh five. So that's my best bet from the pack twelve arizona under two and a half wins. So that's another under lowest team in the division. I know what a square i am as. We've already decided you know that. Mackenzie hey money spends money. Spends under four and a half jacksonville wins. Not even close. They won one game. I mean listen. The squares have to get paid sometimes now onto the big twelve briefly. Hit the The the big schools. Before i give a best bet oklahoma's at eleven which the number feels pretty spot on oklahoma returns. Almost everything from last year's team that went nine and two they are. I think they should probably be second favourite behind alabama for the national title odds and you can get them at seven to one. I don't think they're better than alabama i. You know it's interesting. I think they might be better than alabama week one. I don't think they're going to be better than alabama by week. Twelve because bama will keep getting better the learning curve of bryce young as he gets better as the season goes on where spencer rattler. We Well you know what. Spencer rattler got a lot better. As the season went on last year remember. He got benched in the middle of the season after he almost lost texas things were looking bad and he adjusted the second half. Stop turning the ball over but oklahoma they. They've got nothing there. Non-conference scares me including a matchup against nebraska that nebraska was trying apparently trying to bail on that matchup when the oklahoma. Sec news came out. They tried to get out of this match up and they weren't able to get out of it which side note i will be on oklahoma. I you know i. I don't wanna say regardless of number i would expect. Oklahoma goes out and humiliates nebraska in that game when so the best team on their schedule is iowa state and oklahoma gets them at home the other to worry spots the neutral site game with texas of course in dallas the red river shootout and in bedlam stillwater. Who has really bailed them out of some close games in the last few years. There's there's question marks quarterback. But i think if you're looking at it eight wins and you're getting plus one. Campbell's michigan look pickles at penn state. Who has the most success going forward. Let's say by twenty twenty five. I'll only one of those teams as ohio state in their division. So there's the roadblock elements to two of those teams. excuse me michigan and penn state. I would probably say. James franklin at usc has the most success. I think i would agree with that as well. Don't believe usc they have annual notre dame. But they haven't scheduled any big headlines. September games against power five opponents. I don't believe there's any sort of texas alabama. She can any of those kinds of matchups on their non conference slate over these next few years. So that's a nice element for your final record. My my nikola penn state. I think would succeed. And i think matt campbell at michigan would say. Don't do roadblock yeah. I think it will do well with a question like this. We get thousand of them. Every time. We open up the inbox. Usc has a built in talent advantage being in southern california. If they brought james franklin over they would clearly have a very gifted recruiter. Say what you want about. Really well he recruits and hires really well and so that would be an attractive spot if you are a top recruit to go and play for franklin in la fewer. Landmines ashore. I think matt campbell be great at michigan. I think fickle be fine wherever he went penn state or anywhere else but for sure. The fewest landmines to success in twenty twenty-five definitely usc. Okay but there's there's the expectation that all three of those programs especially if the playoff goes to twelve and twenty twenty three that these teams consistently are in or near the playoff. Yeah that they should be nothing less than top twelve ish annually. Right now for sure. Considering the advantages that michigan and penn state half so yes. Ohio state has a roadblock and usc in the conference only really appears to have one. Major nationalist roadblock which is oregon. And that's the other side of the. The conference michigan has worked to do but if they only lose to ohio state. Don't make the playoffs. If they lose to penn state and ohio state it's trickier. But there will be there in that playoff conversation and they should do no worse than splitting every you know winning every other year. Against each other penn state and michigan given how strong those programs could be with the right coach. So we're still talking about the best of all three of those guys being a playoff caliber team. I just think right now. Given what the divisions look like. Because if i mean if luke pickles at penn state and matt campbell's at michigan they're playing each other so they're hitting their ceilings as well. That's a really tough division along with ryan and ohio state presuming. He's still there. So i have more faith that the big ten east will be more difficult to navigate long term. Agree with those three coaches. I agree with that than what the pac twelve. South's outlook is. Which is where jed fish. Everyone's talking about dead fish. He's actually recruiting pretty well. All things considered like there is decent energy in tucson but things are uncertain right now in tempe considering some of the allegations we know kyle. Wittingham is going to field a very good team more often than not but generally has a december ceiling. And i guess we'll wait and see on colorado. But do you ever remember something like philadelphia where the star point guard appears to be terrified of the free throw line. I don't know how you solve it. I mean when you're watching philadelphia. What do you do. If you're the sixers going forward will go forward to figure out how to make your competent. I mean you talk about free throw shooting right all have the ability to shoot for those. But there's the innate ability to make free throws and then make the pressures on the lot one you gotta look at his form technique is there. That doesn't seem like it's the technical issue. This is all between the ears. It's all psychological. There has to be someone on that stat within that organization that can calm his nerves when he goes up to the line. I mean it's easier said than done. But one thing is repetition as we all get great but the second thing is is is psychological warfare that he's having within himself yes. And then when you watched his ability to create plays and make certain res out of pick and roll situations you new things that will make him special and then you add the range at which he shoots the ball with and the competence now. You're talking about superstar potential. Then you you fast four. You go to his career at atlanta hawks. Okay first year. Yes a low russell rockies a rookie. But now he's seen all the competition he understands how to play within the system and then how to get his game all and when he does it he does it with flair. "They do have pretty good receivers almost usc last year because the receivers especially i thought gave you a cease defense problems and those guys were there and i think they will probably be showcased in what fish is gonna do. Arizona has the weakest roster in the pac twelve. I would think that one of the four weakest rosters is also colorado even after their surprising performance. "I still feel a little shaky to be honest. We had a blast. But jed fish was there who's now the head coach at at arizona and he had worked on that staff last year with coach ballot. Check dave struck up a relationship and the the competitive endurance. And what he's able to get done during the course of the week and the amount of detail like cliffs talking about when you listen to whether it's the team meetings Involvement in the defense offense to kicking game. And even just when you spend a little bit of time with them and you you you feel like somebody's point from you know you talk about people that have forgotten more football than than you know. I mean it's it's an impressive inventory that you feel like he's pulling from and then when you hear the stories whether it's from the players or the coaches the people that have been in that building got reverence in. I don't think anybody would say that. They're not incredibly impressed with the amount of stuff and things that he can get done now. Efficient he is and consistent. He is with his workweeks cliff. Given us one good brady story my favorite As of recently was so of wedding. A mutual friend and baker's bay which is like paradise for adults. They can't land for adults in in the bahamas and we're the night before the wedding. Everybody's getting hammered. Every i mean radios having fun. Who's the crew like in the scene. Who do we got here. I mean a lot of the old patriot guys. One of our boys will got to his wedding So it's it's a good good crew. I've just getting a night before the wedding late night. I wake up early. Can i can't can't sleep real well anyways. And so i'm going to check out the island getting a little golf guard i'm cruising along and i look and i see like on these polo fields. Some dude with some other guy and it looks like he's doing like resistant. Dan drops at me. So i drive over this like seven thirty. We're getting it. Like seventy. I drive over. You are such a sociopath. His desire to be the best ever is on some levels. That i mean the world hasn't seen much like this guy who's dedicated every waking moment diet sleep work at the best ever so that just got to tell the story and then what he's about has he changed significantly from when you were his backup in two thousand three two now winning a super bowl in two thousand and twenty one. I mean so same. Graded on sean. Been around sound but The way he i i'll never forget. Just how he would get the mill all the ballboys names although managing the net. So much to all that stuff Is just beautiful. I i wanna hate him a guy 'cause it's like he made a deal with the devil on so many levels but there's another negative say that guy's phenomenal human being and One of the hardest workers. "Obviously he's a bright mind considering and a lot of people were gonna asking me on the podcast things of or just on Twitter. Like what? You know why is Michigan going for a guy that has doesn't have any experience. And like, And to me, it's kind of funny because he's like duty. He's a coach in the NFL. That's the highest level right. Like I understand that, like he hasn't been a College coordinator or a pro coordinator, but I think it's it's still really You know you're not going to become an assistant coach in the NFL. If you're just kind of skating by, right, That's just not gonna happen. So I'm excited to see what he what? What His philosophy ends up being because, honestly, we'd have no idea what he's going to bring to the table. Yeah, but I think we can go a little bit out of the ledge. If you look at Grantham's defense down there in Florida, it's a 34 and McDonald's coming from a 34. It would be shocking. I think if they If they you know, didn't run a 34. Now I know there, sir. No, There's a lot of people that say there's not a whole lot of difference there. But you know your recruit a certain way. If you're looking for You know the, uh you know, guys that are standing up and you know what the different different techniques are on the defensive line. So I mean, that seems like it would. That's what it would be E mean very well could be But you know, I'm not Would speculate that you're probably right. But at the same time, I'm you know, I don't think we necessarily know just because he has been in that system. You know that That's him coaching under someone, so that might be what he's learned. But he also might have a different philosophy of how we want to treat defense. So regardless I think it's exciting. Just have something that we don't know about. I was like Dennis is when you It depends on what you really what you're taught from your from your mentor. You try to build from that, whether he wants to what's important to him. He doesn't want a team to run on him. He's going to run a 43. If he doesn't want a team the past on him, he's gonna run a 34. That's those of the those are the things that you look at. What, How you want to defend. One thing I want to point out it is, it says year Michigan will have to pay $75,000 buyout to get Christian Robinson here because it paid they're saying Florida, which has AH buyout clause for 50% of the remaining value. Of his deal that he accepted a non coordinator or head coaching role in the SEC program. It says sometimes. Well, it just says he's gonna pay Michigan's gonna pay $75,000 so I mean, I guess where Pa. We're doing buyouts if we have to, right? I mean, I think that's the movie. You do write to deal that. Get your staff, right? And you were seeing her bod making some moves. You know, this might be more of a mike McDonald move, but We're seeing Harbaugh makes the moves, which is I think something that probably has to be done and Again, like for anyone who kind of questions. I understand. The last couple years have not gone well here in Ann Arbor on they had a lot of experience on the coaching staff. We have to remember that Harbaugh's best years as a as a head coach was, you know after he brought in his Willy Taggart's his Greg Roman, says Vic Fangio's going out and getting his guys and building a staff that a lot of people hadn't necessarily heard of back into Stanford and then eventually, 40 Niners days, So I'm really interested to see how this ends up. Working out in that sense of You know he's going and getting young guys. We know that he has that capability of identifying talent. I mean, even a guy like Jed Fish, right? Who's now a head coach. So it's Ah, It'll be really interesting to see how this staff continues to fill out. It seems like The bulk of the offensive side is going to stay put now, right. But outside of that, like the defensive side is mostly up for grabs there still the one position that they could fill considering that the bed McDaniels is out, and they shifted J obviously to make room for like art. So e. I mean, technically, they could. Who knows how exactly that they'll fill it out. Obviously, they don't need Tolo. Uh, probably do like they did before and have like You know Don Brown coach the middle linebackers and the other half a second linebackers coach linebackers clearly taken care of now, so it's about who's up front who was on the back end. And do you think that that would still leave them with one more vacancy? My numbers are right, which they very well might not be at. Can't think this this early in the morning I haul with us. I wonder what you think would be the absolute upside to the defense. I was looking at Michigan's too deep. Defense back in 2016, which is a really good defense, and it was really chock full of NFL players from you know, Gary Memory serves to win invention. You know, Bush to real peppers. I mean, right down the line. You could look over there. Jordan Lewis was one of the corners and all those guys in the NFL When you look at this particular defense, I just wonder how many you think that you would even put In the category of NFL types and Hutchinson for sure Front. But but after that, on the back Jackson Hill Are there other a couple more that you could even if everything went well that you looked at and say, Okay, Yeah, This is the kind of town with that they have that they could be playing on Sundays. I think a lot of them are too early to tell right because I think a lot of there's a lot of youth on the defensive side of the ball on D. Obviously with the new coordinator. They're going to get their shot, but I think when you look at what they could be really good at, it's honestly speed. They've been recruiting for speed for the last couple of years, like after mentioned Anthony Solomon is one of those types of guys some of those corners that they've brought in whether it be Andre Selden or Jalen Perry and DJ Turner. Um, these are guys that are relatively fast players on then it mean on top of that they bring in Julie Junior Coulson, who runs I Can't remember the exact number but Like being like a £235.62 guy runs like a 44 something that's like insane. Um, so I mean, they've got a lot of speed, but they also have a lot of developmental projects, which is kind of You hope that some of these guys can also that they're bringing in this far as as coaches can get more out of some of these guys that they're bringing in, get get get a lot out of your TJ guy guy who was a little bit more of a developmental prospect that they got out of Massachusetts..

I think we're gonna have a couple of more head coaching openings. If not at least coordinator openings and there are some pretty big openings. That are out there right now. Yeah and craig reporters you know i. It's difficult because you might get a head coach or general manager personnel director or assistant coach. Tex you haven. We'll say hey man. I'm out you know confirming for you or you might break the story. But it's painful if you've had rugged personal relationship with it's it's really the day black money the nfl. I absolutely do not look forward to. I know the fans like it because they don't like the head coach of the gm of there's a changeover. But let's not forget these people have families and it's It's not fun. But i understand it. It's gonna be a new beginning for several teams we. We know we already have five. Gm openings plus washed. It didn't have a gm this season head coach. Ron various personnel control. So technically six am openings and three head coach openings. And we're gonna have clearly. We know adam cases the one most people believe are on the league's going to be let go next week. We it's not a secret. We know that's expected to happen. But then their questions as you know around the league about a lot of other head coaches. Yeah and the ones that are open Right now houston being one of them. Certainly the one that you mentioned earlier in the week. And i guess we can expand on this. A little bit You know you made a really interesting comment about how you know. Coaches can kinda fly under the radar. In fact a head coach at arizona. Jed fish was once upon a time limit jacksonville to it. Seems like a lot of go through jacksonville. No one even remembers that they were there for a period of time. But boy you're right. What a great landing spot to take over a team kinda like matt. Rhule's get yourself four five year deal because the expectation is. You're going to need that time. And then get yourself a rookie quarterback trevor lawrence. It's arguably out of the thirty teams respectfully to jacksonville into the twenty ninth thirtieth market as far as the nfl is concerned but it also has the least amount of pressure. I think going into next year. Great point let me expand on something you just said because it may be something a coach who worked for the jaguars over the years he said work for the jaguars is like working in bermuda triangle. Nobody there and that's probably a good thing because you can do your job as you said. There's not a lot of pressure you've got a great owner and shot con son. Tony who who who oversees analytics runs the wrestling promotion called eighty w so very supportive You've done more does not done a bad job if you look at his record.
