"Alabama's morning news. I'm JT Colonial Pipeline. Good news is back open gasoline is flowing again yesterday, President Brian says He's helping ease the gas shortages. I've lifted some of the restrictions on the transportation of fuel as well as access to the United States military providing fuel and with vehicles to get it there. And as we heard yesterday as well from triple a spokeswoman, Jeanette McGee said. You know what you're feeling is not a lack of supply or supply issue we have. What we have here is a transportation issue. There's ample fuel in the United States for the summer and joining sound talk a little bit more about that here in our region, Play Ingram from Triple A Here in Birmingham, Clay. Welcome back in. Thanks for being here. Thanks for having me, JT. Well, I guess everybody can start going back to hoarding toilet paper again. No need to rush the gas gas bombs, right, right. Yeah, that. Thankfully, they were able to get get. The pipeline started a little more quickly than they thought they would. A two. First they were looking at probably Friday, having it to start back up, but but it started yesterday at four o'clock our time, and it's going full steam and It. You know, in a few days we'll have. I don't want to say everybody restocked, but but most stations would should have their their their fuel supply Restock. Talk to me about the comment from Jeanette McGee with triple A as well about how there really was Never a supply issue, right? Would you agree? Oh, absolutely. There's no question about that. Our gasoline inventories are at the highest levels they've ever been. In fact, over the last week, some of the refineries had to slow down production because it was nowhere to put the fuel that they were that would have made. Had they maintain their current level. You know they're normal level of production, so It's always been. The whole thing was a transportation issue, getting it through the pipeline to the various hubs and terminals, you know, along the way throughout the southeast on the East Coast, so Um, you know, there's always been plenty of gas. There was never a gas shortage. It was just a transportation delay. I understand the Northeast also, you know, as they receive some of the pipeline, you know, gas from colonial pipeline like we do down here. It runs from the Gulf all the way up the Eastern seaboard up into New York but up in the north, they also have Other ways to distribute that. Guess we've got some of that down here, but it seems that the Northeast has more. Access or ways to deliver the gasoline and we do in the South. They do? Yes, that Northeast you know, northern New England area up in there. Um, they have extra ways additional ways and then they have to, because there's so many people up there, and they've learned over the years that they need to have those Those other avenues in place. And you know, we were fortunate here in Alabama that we're close enough to the Gulf Coast refineries there where we could have gasoline brought in through 18 wheelers and Train bankers and things like that. There were other states, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Virginia that weren't as fortunate, and I have had much more struggle with this situation that we have here in Alabama. Well, let's talk quickly about the gas prices now for the rest of the year, Relatively speaking year over year we're still pretty good as to where we were last year at this time, but in short history here, and we've seen the uptick in the prices This happens this time of the year Memorial Day around the corner, more traveling now, with the code situation improving. You anticipate the price is getting back in the low to dollar range like we were, you know, a few months ago or We still gonna be, you know, sticking around where we are now, maybe even higher through summer. Yeah, we're going to be pretty close to where we are now, through the remainder of the summertime. We we saw our prices jumped 17 cents a gallon over the past week, thanks to all the panic buying that took place out there. Well, otherwise, we wouldn't have seen even half that much, Probably. So it's it's probably gonna kind of level off between now and Memorial Day. And it could drop a little bit after Memorial Day. That's the normal the normal pattern that we see. But then it stays pretty pretty stable and pretty steady throughout the rest of the summer, So we'll be pretty close toe where we are right now, I think probably into the fall. Very good player. Um thank you for your input. Always good. Catch up with you Appreciate you. Thanks J t all right. T 27 Alabama's morning news, traffic and weather together coming up out of the our news as well.
