The kick here comes swinging a liner off of diagrams back and bounces back up the middle past Peraza in his center and a base runner for the Phillies. Solid contact and right off the back side of Jacob to crumb, and it goes into center. And he could have with that one swing become the M V P of this ballgame if it somehow knocked the Graham out of the game. That looked like it. Got him right in the tailbone. I don't know if it got him in the cushion. Of the buttocks. It looked like it kind of got him right in that. Bottom of the spine. Yeah, seems to be okay. Luis Rojas, Skipper. The ball gets away from the second baseman Parra's into shallow center. It's backed up by Albert Almora Jr. But Andrew McCutchen with steel and the Phillies have a runner in scoring position with one out. Had a great jump on that. It was a pretty good pitch for me, Canda. Handle and throw on the outer third fastball. It appeared and you know the velocity of Jacob program. It's going to get there pretty quickly as he pitches upper nineties and another stolen base for Andrew McCutchen. The Phillies have been really good. Terms of stolen bases this year, fourth in the National League in their success rate 88% coming into this one today. Number four for McCutchen on the year. Look back from the Graham, The 1 to 2 Williams swinging. A miss struck him out with a fastball, elevated fastball and the second strikeout for Jacob deGrom. Two outs but coaching at second base. Oh, I'm good God. I was with him Great was talking about. No one's talking about the Phillies this week. I know, right? At least today. After the, uh I don't even know what to call that yesterday in the, uh, game. Seven. Um Flop. Yeah, I guess. Yeah, Very Simmons performance Who's getting more heat? Simmons or Doc rivers? Yeah, Just just just leave it right there at the first. Simmons. Yeah, That's what I'm saying for any crushed, crushed He's been very dismissive to. I mean, people have been asked him. Why don't you shoot this whole time? And then Doc Rivers has been, uh You know, kind of protecting them. Not Yes. No, he has. He's a national treasure. You should you should cherish him. It's like you got to protect you guys. I get what he's doing, but to appoint, Kevin, you're right, Dude. I mean, just throw the ball up. Even if you don't want to shoot, knowing that the whole town wants to run you out of there at least throw up a couple of shots just for the for appearances. You know, I mean, just no one's gonna be here's. The thing is like no one really wants him to like. They don't really care if it makes it. As much as they want them to shooting, right, shoot the ball show of confidence. And then the next thing you know he does. You know the dunk that he did just passed up because, you know, he blew by Gallinari and he's like, Oh, yeah, he was coming behind me and I thought an open dunk. The guy was doubled that he passed it to Just makes you cherish what we have, you know, in in San Francisco now in the Bay Area with the Warriors, uh, in the selfless play, and I get they were not in the playoffs, but it's just different. And you know when you have a superstar that's literally a superstar. That's about the others. Um in Steph. It's just you make you it makes you feel good, right? No question, friend. I love that You're there for the ground zero to see this evisceration go down, and it will play out for a few days to love to check back and even here. Trust me. Yeah, it's good natural is coming to town, and, uh, Yeah, we might need that. Well, it's not like the Phillies are designed in, like, four out in the in the East. I mean, one game under is not great. Watch this play defense. Well, there you go. Yeah, and not good word. Hi, Daddy Ball, right? Uh huh. Yeah. No, it's look, uh, number one is, uh, when you face a team that's not average. That's a very above average team in the Giants. You can't give him extra outs. And when you give them I I think I counted 11. You know, as far as plays that should have been made and outs and the pitch is that you have to throw on top of that. And what is a above average team do not just a good team and above average team. Do they take advantage of it? And look at yesterday. I mean, you have the blowout on Saturday and you know you Kind of like, just ho hum first inning against Sammy Long and guess what? First pitch roll over easy play. Booted. Just set the tone for yesterday, and that's been very much our season and you're never going to see it with the air total. Um, we are a team that has had so many errors that have been changed the hits this year. That when you look at it going in the series were fourth in the National League with the least amount of errors. And then you're just like, uh, no, but you look at defensive runs saved and we're The second last. We're minus 29, where the Giants are, plus 28. That's a pretty big difference in a 57 run difference, as far as defense that tells the whole story. Always wondered, like, you know, you've done it on the big league level. Like when you get to that level, and you're not fielding the ball. Really? How much of that is on a manager? How much that is on it? Yeah. What? How does it happen? Where a big leaguers Can't catch it. It's focus, right? It's it's concentration. That's the main thing with it. These guys work hard. The Phillies players work hard at their defense, but when it comes to game time, I don't You can't put a pulse on it. You don't You don't know exactly what's going on. As far as all I see is a lot of lack of concentration because there's a lot of mental mistakes, not a lot of thinking ahead. And then it just like I get compounds with everything When you see like Brandon play, when, when Cross out there just everything. The easy plays are ridiculously easy. The hard plays look routine and and it's He's so special out there and look Ronald Tereus, who's taken over for DD, since he's been out Has played a fantastic shortstop. He's he's been literally the only thing you can say Jean Segura, but he's hurt right now. That has been fantastic defensively. And he, you know, he almost took one away from Brandon Belt yesterday off of David Hills leg, but that's not look. You've got to have four guys you got to have, you know, consistency all around its focus. Well, then that's the main thing And you don't none of that goes to Girardi. What could he do? Increase the focus. I mean, you gotta give him guys, We're going to focus session today, you know? Yeah. We're not going Zen on this one, but, uh, you know the recession, you know, it's just that's what it looks like every time his lack of concentration. Yeah. And you know you can't take a pitch off in the big leagues. Cause I feel like every time you take a picture pitch off in the big leagues, you get exposed, right? And so that's why I like when you watch the good defensive teams. We just went We We were in Tampa a couple weeks ago. Well, we weren't but The team was and that team is ridiculous defensively. Just do everything right? Doesn't matter about like making the extraordinary plate they do. But make the routine play. It's the big leagues and when you are a plus 54 there, plus 54 defensive run team The next closest like, plus 38, that's stupid. So and you're looking at a giant scene that's top 10 and feeling there are top 10 teams in in pitching and a top five team and hitting So you have all the makings for a great run. Now we're scattered all over the place. You know, defensively were last offensively were middle of the road. Pitching wise, starting pitching wise, We're you know, top 10..

"That's that show up in that package made me laugh right there, an intoxicating performance by Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz, the other notes that kind of maybe kind of made me chuckle and throw. My brother was Donovan Mitchell 59 points over his last 40 minutes in this series. Generally, we don't do that, usually with Don't we do the player efficiency ratings and and things like that the year intoxicating, perform the the points per possession. We run with those stats sometimes, uh, but Donovan Mitchell 59 over the last 40 minutes in the series makes me think more about like a baseball stat. Mike Koehler was saying when he sat down Yesterday after the Murphy Mac show to run the pop on lunch, I guess yeah, I think this game is going to get rained out today, whether it's all messy out there and, uh, in Washington, and I saw Cole Kipper put this out on Twitter Twitter yesterday. Other times here in California, where you just kind of forget whether exists especially what you flip the calendar to June. We're getting rainouts in June in D C. Which I don't know Part for the course I guess. But the Giants don't see very many of these each year, but I got peeved. I was thinking about it when I was younger man. I used to love the idea of a double header, especially with The schedule I've got now if I'm getting off early today, and I got to ball games lined up two games to watch Giants, uh, and the nationals. This happened yesterday. I was watching a game that ended early. Excuse me again that ended with a runner on second base was the Phillies coming back and winning their game yesterday will walk off hit by by Jean Segura. And they throw back to the MLB network Studios and Brian Kenny and Dan Police sack and these guys are all talking about it, and they're talking about the runner on second rule, and Brian Kinney goes. I think the games the role on second is great. We could still be playing right now. And I'm like, Yeah, we should still be playing right now. And if we're still playing right now, by the way, the Phillies still wouldn't want they still had to come back and win the game in extra innings. They were trailing by the time they got the ball are the opportunity to hit in the 11th inning, and they walked it off anyway. I was thinking about how infuriating that was just how stupid it is. And then I'm going. Alright. Doubleheader tomorrow fired up for a couple of ball games. Then I go. Wait a minute. It's that seven inning doubleheader Nonsense man. And now now, what's What's frustrating is there used to be very little about the game of baseball that I disliked very little that I disliked. I would stop points. It's the perfect game. There's cause and effect. There's slow building tension. It's a game that promotes discussion. It's a game that promotes cards or it's a game that did relies on consequence. It snowballs a little bit. There's something about the game that's romantic and special and it's been around for 100. Some odd years. I don't have to tell you about my romance with the game of baseball. But then they start tweaking it. Then they start changing things and fabricated. It makes it feel more more synthetic. It's not real. The moments that are created now are not authentic. I didn't have a guy hit a double to lead to that walk off double by JEAN Singer. So, yeah, they run and they celebrate they go. We're really going to pump this guy up for driving the guys. They just threw out there like I mean, yeah, they win the ballgame. That's the way baseball is played today. You know for gay and and this is maybe why why people get more upset about the extra The overtime rule. I should say in the NFL that everybody should get an opportunity to touch the ball. If you're an NFL purist or your football purist, and maybe maybe I understand a little more now, because of the way they're tinkering with my game of baseball and changing things up in, uh, in extra innings, But it prompted me yesterday. Then they have to put together a list of things in baseball that I just can't stand man things that I hate rattled them off on Twitter last night things about them. What's that? Was that a new one, dude? Let's do it that Lil Wayne, who is that? Total won't go. Let's do it. Thank you, Dave Throughout this last night, and, uh and more than happy to to amend this or add to this list, there's a shot on Twitter. Things I can't stand or hate about the game of baseball run around. Second rule has got to be right up at the top. Number one at the top runner on second rule number two, the seven inning doubleheaders. I was fired up about two baseball games today. They're going to play 27 in games and by the way facing Max shares are now in a seven inning game is a way different situation they're facing. Make sure Zarin a nine inning game David saying there Saturday. I thought they were today. Dave saw Carrie Crowley put out yesterday that there's a at 11 A.m. first pitch today. 11 05 1st pitch. We're gonna happen for you right here on KNBR, 145 and 68. And then the later he will be scheduled this Evening, So just just frustrating. Anyway. Bottom line is you're gonna see shares are in a seven inning ballgame like, Give me a pitch the whole game. Let me go seven inning. No hitter on you like like a Madison. Bumgarner starts so anyway, number two, the seven inning double header number three. I throw out the D H number four as an issuing leadoff walks. I say that as a I don't want my team to issue leadoff walks, O Davis. Davis Davis correcting me. It's Saturday. My mistake, Dave. I miss Read carry Crowley's tweet. Then on the news on that, sorry, the double n are going to be played tomorrow. Still bottom line, frustrating to see back to back seven inning games. I just don't like that man. So you're going to get a nine inning game, then against Max Scherzer, I was going to say Friday night twin billing. Where you do it in a day game and then a night game. That's a little frustrating. So Saturday, they push it back. That'll work. Okay. So a couple of games on Saturday, then this week to seven inning game is going to take you front end and back end of the doubleheader Giants. And the nationals. Anyway. We'll keep running on this list here. Number four, I said leadoff walks number five. David Eckstein, still maybe my least favorite baseball player in the history of baseball. Just because of the thorn. He was in the giant side back in 2002. And of course, he goes up and he's a cardinal in 2000 and six Wednesday, a World Series MVP. Then he was a padre. And he was a problem for the Giants. David next time for me, like pair him with the, uh, the the soul patch. A Scotch PCO, a red soul patch and and you've got Maybe my combined most hated baseball player of all time. Number six will go. I thought it was stupid that the foul pole was in fair territory. It's called the Fair Pull. Then it's the fair pole. It hits the ball. It's fair number seven inch to replay number eight people who get mad at the three hacks number nine defensive indifference Just because he you're not protecting second base and he runs down and swipes it and takes it from you doesn't mean it wasn't stolen. Give the guy a stolen base and then number 10 rainouts because Lead to the seven inning double header. So my mistake there on the incorrect knowledge the doubleheader is going to be played tomorrow. A Saturday doubleheader. It'll be Max teachers are Anthony DeSclafani in a normally scheduled nine inning game today, Friday at 705 our time. Excuse me, 75 Eastern time. Four or five first page, which means three or five pre game right here.

Yeah, And you know it's broadcasters were here to call the game. But we're also fans and I tell you what I was keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that he would be in the ballgame because on a Sunday night and the Braves are playing, it would be a huge message. Pete. Almost like Perhaps almost equal to a Sunday night baseball game 10 years ago, 12 years ago and Chipper Jones not playing. Everyone wants to see that type of talent on the field. So we'll see him will also see you on the other side for the Phillies. Bryce Harper, so two of the brightest names in the sport right now. Nice to see Bryce Harper off to the good start. He got hit in the face by a pitch. A couple weeks ago by Genesis Cabrera but has ended up being OK was actually the wrist part of being hit in that sequence that bothered him or but I think to me, you know, Bryce Harper's a big name and a big talent. It's always more fun when he's swinging the bat well. Yeah, I mean, it's just It's hard to look away because he's just such a presence at the plate. There's so much violence there in his swing, even though it's under control. But you know, just just a pleasure to watch. I know that you know, there's there's some debate as to Consistency of his performance. I mean, it's been good, but at times it just hasn't been at that level and stayed above that level where everyone would warrant. This is why he got such a big country. Graves. We're going to rip him all the time doesn't terrible job I thought overall, you did a terrible job yesterday. And I'm not here to make any excuses for J have because Jay Happ wasn't good. He walked six eyes and three innings. But I don't think Jay Happ was helped out by the fact that Angel Hernandez was nickel and dime ing him with that strike zone. Angel Hernandez was abysmal in this game. I think some of the balls he called Could have been called strikes. And if you're Jay happ, your veteran, you have to overcome it. Totally get it, Not goingto make any excuses for jab. But I notice that I'm sitting here watching a baseball game and I see an umpire making terrible calls. Which is exactly what he didn't. It contributed to J happened. I think you know this shouldn't happen to Jake because he's a veteran, but it may have gotten it may have gotten on when all of a sudden he's walking Scot Kingery, and then he's walking. I think it was Phil Gosselin on four pitches. That may have gotten to him at that point. And so he was. He was terrible to the point where obviously Aaron Boone had to get him after three innings at six walks, But I certainly don't think he was helped out by the fact that Angel Hernandez doesn't know the difference between a ball on a strike. Well, you know, look, we shouldn't be surprised. I mean, he's probably the worst umpiring baseball, maybe history of basement. Maybe they mean wait when you break it down. I mean, there's a lot of a lot of bad ones. He may be the worst. What? What? I did think it was kind of cool because sometimes we don't know the answers about why managers did things Theeighties rally in the seventh inning in which they did come up short. They end up losing game one win. When Judge hits the home run there, it's almost like a rally killer. You know that? Because now you've got to start all over again when they didn't know they did, but it right, But still, you still got to do it. You know when I was your I always have. And I know this may sound crazy, but I always rather see the guy like a double off the wall to keep the chain going. Then hit the three run home Run. Where now? Okay, well, that a slate is clean again. You know, I agree with you on that general. I agree, But you're rallying by big deficit the home run unless it's time or taking the lead. Give me the double up the alley, right? But apparently and you're already admitted this after the two games. We don't know this after the first game. That because he had to go to Hector Maris to get that final out. He threw one pitch one pitch and he got, I think was Miguel and too hard to fly out to right field that made him on available for the second game of the doubleheader. So late Miss game when it's the seventh inning, which is really the ninth inning he's going, Tommy Hunter. As opposed to his better reliever. So the Yankees rallying game one, even though they lose, even though they come up short, actually assisted them what they did in Game two, which was pulled the game out of seventh inning once they got a granola out of the game, Because Nolan was brilliant, he was well, look, I mean, you know They got. They got a pretty good pitching staff just with Noah and Zack Wheeler. I hate to say very difficult looking Zack Wheeler and a Philly uniform. I could tell you that you're not easy to do You know, it's funny watching Zack Wheeler yesterday. He kind of reminded me of everything we saw from him as a met. You know, you see kind of flashes of brilliance. You see him make a mistake. Brett Gardner. It's a two run home run and that finishing line of six innings three runs. He probably should have pitched the seventh inning again. 87 pitches is not a lot. You want to tell me so weird. You for the Phillies. They don't want you guys to get hurt, I guess. But I thought it was very similar to everything we saw from him from the Mets. And he wasn't helped out by his defense early because Aaron Judge and he was in the first thing grounds in what should have been a double play. Instead, it's booted. By the shortstop Jean Segura and actually lead to the yankeesfirst runs that from that shouldn't score exactly was defense. Just I kind of didn't back him up. But, yeah, I mean, they got a pretty good top of the rotation. But as we learned, just get to the Phillies bullpen. I think the Yankees clearly saw that over this to capes. Just get there. Well, look, the Yankees I was kidding in one of my guys on the golf course. Today. The Yankees actually lost the game because they could win as well. So you know, 92 I've got another double headed coming up What he played Saturday. You know, they don't know either. One of these seven inning deals crazy. I'll see if I get used to it by then it was It was weird man. I mean, it is weird. I mean, it is, but that's you know, everything is weird in this season, no weird and and for 2020 You're right. And for 2020 I accepted. I mean, look, the fact was they play that first game, the Yankees the home team, you know, when the Yankees making that roundabout they did not wear the homepage stripes very disappointing. Very disappointing. Well, I guess you know what I thought about May said. You know, if I'm the Yankees, I say You know why we're not playing in all ballpark. We're not wearing the pits, right? I'm gonna I gotta ask Karen about that. Maybe there was a reason that probably was what the deal was. You know, Probably why that they didn't want to, because they well, they still play the Yankee intro music, though. Yeah. I know where the mindset would be. You don't even know why I know, but I could see what a Yankee mindset is. Look, we're not playing in Yankee Stadium. You know, It's not what they were, like. You know, a Che stadium. That was their home for a couple. We're not playing a Yankee Stadium. We're not wearing the whole pinstripes. I mean, I don't we'll ask. Boom will ask about. It was a little thing that bothered me. Yeah, Maybe there's a good reason you wanted to see the pinstripes. Yes, They're the home team pension, All right, but it was not tell you I don't know how Boone feels about it. Maybe he loves it because it's 14 innings instead of 18 innings with the pitching..
