"No holding the team accountable with this fan base for the most part in my opinion. I know there's Red Sox fans who are frustrated with the Mookie bet situation. We're frustrated with whatever happened over the last year and a half. But yeah, not enough. No, not enough. And now JD Martinez talking about leaving and you have to think it's possible that he leaves, he's going to be entering his age 34 season next year. He's going to want maybe one more big time payday. And if the universal DH is coming baby, you better believe there's going to be more interest in him. So not good for the Red Sox. That's my hate update update. I tell you what, St. Louis doesn't want JD Martinez is the DH next year? That'd be great. Thanks, St. Louis. Might want, why would the Dodgers not want him? Yeah, I don't know. It's only 34.34. He's so consistently good. He and John Carlos and seasons with the same output. But Martinez just doesn't take weeks off. And I don't think, you know, I don't really think that matters in the grand seasons or 160 seasons season. You only have to be hot at, you know, if you're hot in October, you're hot in October, but it does feel like Martinez never really takes a day off, except for last year when again, he couldn't get into his video room. So hopefully whatever team he ends up signing with has extensive video room or some sort of code breaking scheme that might potentially benefit the offense. That might help. I just, yeah, the constantly these fans, I mean, this is now just the hate update society. I hate society. But fans who are constantly looking to shave a little money off the payroll, I still don't think that's what rooting should be. I understand it's sustainable in Tampa . And if you look at Tampa's minor league system this year, it's stupid. And there was a tweet that lined it up that came out yesterday that basically, they've either got the best record at every level of the minors or went deep into the minor league player at every single level. They're unstoppable. They really are a player development machine. That is the difference between them and everybody who tries to imitate them. You can't just be Tampa with a big budget if your player development machine isn't the same as Tampa. So we'll see what high and bloom does. Clearly there is some, I mean, intangible, scouting, you know, genius involved there and Nick York, their first round pick who everybody hated. Seems like he's really good. From last year. That's like Anthony vault be situation. They've broken out at the same time. So if bloom has that raised player development machine going, then that's a different story..

"There's a dog You should definitely see moved on from the obviously traded Mitch Moreland. But Martinez might have been the one that I keyed on the most and said he's got someone some team out there is going to need him. He's going be of use to them the faith in National League. Now it kind of because they didn't trade him that tells me that but it didn't get as many offers for them. Then they get the market they wanted for him. So if you're on Bloomberg, I just move on from them to move on from when you could possibly trade him in the offseason if he opts in, you know what I mean? So I think maybe they kept their options open as far that goes. Maybe they move on from some of the other names because they said I will get a better Market in the off-season Cristian Vasquez being another one. And by the way Christian baskets the more I thought about that was that's a power-hitting catcher. Those guys are kind of hard to find. So unless slowly Back-up Plan change not just give these guys away. So that's why I kind of warmed up to the weekend too high in bloom had when I think if you asked me two weeks ago, if the players are just listed off for the only ones that they traded I would have been. I mean, yeah, and you're so J D Martinez obviously is the most important one that you that brought up and I think he's an end up saying here cuz I don't think the Market's going to be as big for him as he wants. Especially wage not taking over the d h, but they're not going to fold. Eh next year, right. They're going back to regular season. I'd be surprised. I mean, I think remember they are but like with the players are going to say give us the full-time DH it creates more jobs going to create, you know more opportunities for those guys. There's no reason to have pictures hip. I mean, that's the other thing too. Like with this code would be a sport some of these things are working right the national like DH Works. Yes. I mean like again, I'm just a temporary host right now for the show. But as of right now with this is an anti pitchers hitting podcast. I am so against that but it's good for the business for Red Sox because that means JD Martinez If he if the national league ads in that DH roll JD Martinez Opt out because there's going to be now an extra gaggle of teams that are going to need a d h and a lot of them don't have a guy like JD Martinez just waiting there in the rafters. So they're going to go after him and throw him. There is a growing up. So it's good for the Red Sox right now that the NL does not have that or at least in the long term and out doesn't have that but going back to my point about these guys who are still on the team and what it means. I think the Red Sox, I think that signifies that the Red Sox know that they are not entering a full-blown rebuild like a couple of years ago..

"Remember mentioned Boston Sports Journal moving onto the Red Sox. There's not a ton get excited about on the field, of course, but off the field still trying to figure out what this team is going to look like and what it's going to be in the future. Now, the future of JD Martinez is in question. He can opt out next year if he chooses to he didn't do it last year when he had that option. He's due to make a little bit under twenty million dollars is not performing that well and the free-agent Landscapes going to be a mess because of the economics baseball with the Cova jut down J D Martinez spoke to me on Thursday and he did not sound like a guy who was too interested in testing those Waters. I honestly feel I would not want to be a free agent. You know like during this time for that reason. You just don't know you really there's there's no everything's up in the air. We're going to welcome and Sean McAdam to talk about Choice comments. I mean, he basically said, it's Shaun he's not going to exercise his opt out which means he's coming back to the Red Sox for Just Around twenty million for next year and I'm guessing it's the Red Sox had it there where they'd love to find a way not have that be the case. Yeah, I mean Martinez other than this season has been a very productive hitter certainly in his first two years that's not been the case this year to hear him. Tell it a lot of that is not having access to in-game video, which is a big part of his preparation and game is very analytical about panics of the swings likes to make adjustments and because of the pandemic doesn't have that availability and access this year, but he is getting older. He's thirty-two now, and yep. Did say that given the uncertainty surrounding the game and the economic landscape that is certainly going to change. You know, I wouldn't want to be a free agent this year. Then someone said, well, you have the opportunity to be a free agent or we to read anything into that any kind of backpedaled because players don't like to say or reveal their plans or take away any leverage that they might have but if he can opt out last year then it's hard to think that with the losses throughout the industry and teams cutting payroll that he thinks he's going to have a better mark this year than he did last year. Right? And obviously the economic landscape is going to be going to be abysmal next year. So nobody nobody wants to enter it but the question now is with that 20 million dollar price tag. Sean is not tradable, especially considering as you said, you know, certainly he'd be a 20 million even in a depressed landscape would still be somewhat of a bargain for the production you were getting prior to this year. But if this Thursday The type of year he's going to have who would pay that for this? Well one benefit John for the Red Sox is the likelihood that the national league is going to adapt the d h a m permanent basis they did. So this year again because of the pandemic they didn't want to have pictures running the bases with a shorter spring training and more injuries. We've already seen a ton of pitching injuries without them hitting but the the trend in game is certainly toward having a universal DH that's good for the Red Sox because it potentially doubles the amount of money suitors who would be interested in Martinez a national league team would not want to sign him and have him play The Outfield regularly he is well below average defensively..

"Mets fans will soon find out if god is in fact a Mets fan because they better start praying for JD Martinez the opt out of his red Sox contract to hear me out. Martinez is market value said about twenty three point seven million for next year. it would be a little bit of a stretch. it would require a little bit of crafty maneuverability submarine power on the part of Brody van wagon. but with Frasier Wheeler and the garish off the books. twenty four million right there. I mean the Mets if they really wanted to make a move here. you have to figure out D. as. you have to add another armed maybe through the minor league somehow in the bull pen. but at thirty two years old here's what I would do with Martinez I offered twenty million twenty one million a year. and just the enticement to join the win now team I mean you want a World Series ring come play for the Mets you're missing piece right at that so I would put you to one. and I just said. letting letting Wheeler let garrison freezer walk out the door if it is a free up the cash almost a dollar. and JD Martinez offers a little bit of flexibility because he's playing all four outfield positions last year. and it would be an absolute jolt to the Mets line up immediately. and the red Sox are floundering. and the matter right on the cusp. I believe JD Martinez the Mets missing piece. and what else you can do is you can make McNeil play third base he's got I looked at nine seven seven fielding percentage there. and then the Mets can keep you know and that his ridiculous contract over there at second base. but with a little creativity. JD Martinez what things have to line up with a little creativity and a little luck. and maybe an answer to a prayer. the Mets might be able to snag JD Martinez. maybe. that's the initial look into it that's my my my cart math for now. but the Yankees in the playoffs so I want to focus more on that you know research wise there's plenty of time to look at the Mets in and what they plan to do and it also depends on how much they're gonna be planning to pay a manager because you know making gallery didn't really. cost much and that's another reason why I thought they might they should have stayed at least one more year with him. you know so they can get the the big name free agent. and then see what happens. so. I don't know that's just my thought I think that I may think burning in wagons porn all the restaurants to be honest with you. "In crown to the end of October because the Boston Red Sox did not make the playoffs and they've also gotten rid of their general manager and make changes in the front office Dave Dombrowski out of a job a few months after winning a World Series gosh life comes at you fast AT and T. hearer from the Boston Red Sox front office now. there is talk. and maybe this is about. posturing so that these two players recognized or believe they might have to take home town discount. but president team president him Kennedy said publicly to start the week. that wall they would love to keep both McKee beds and JD Martinez. it's going to be tough for them to pay both and stay below that threshold where they don't have to play with a to pay what's called the competitive balance tax but it's really a luxury tax and the ownership of. the red Sox is indicated. they're not interested in paying the luxury tax anymore. they are actually you and this is coming straight from the owners. ready to cut payroll to the point that they can get underneath that threshold. now we don't know if it's going to change. we don't know if the number is going to be. higher than two hundred and eight million. but that's that's where it's been. Boston though it had it baseball's highest payroll in back to back years and of course one of them resulted in a World Series I don't know that you would take that back you pay whatever luxury tax year after pay if you're the one who's holding the trophy at the end of the year but if the red Sox are over that threshold again. it's a little bit like the the way we see the NFL punish bodies perfect if you're a repeat offender so to speak and you're over that two hundred and eight million dollars it's not a salary cap you can go over and spend as much as you want but if you are over it and you're over it for multiple years in a row then your taxes. sky rocket so they go up incrementally and that makes sense and for the red Sox do not want to see that happen. and and they're willing to cut payroll which means. they might not be able to pay Mookie Betts and JD Martinez what they can get somewhere else. that's one big story line coming from the baseball offseason but that's the off season and we're not.

"One to welcome on into the program. Travis chick. You are one of a couple of authors of a new book. I love this. I've got to go out and get it actually the MVP machine. How baseball's new nonconformists are using data to build better players Travis, thank you for joining us. So I know that Bill James is used to be anyway at very controversial figure in major league baseball. We went through the Bill James era where everybody thought this guy was a Kook, then we went through the moneyball era. Now, some people are saying that your book is really moneyball two point though, is that an accurate way to talk about this book leave. We feel it is, we feel to new era of baseball in the money bowl Bill, James. Have they change the game? They revolutionized it. But that is money goes into those three. So we're sixteen years now and every major league front office, and it was a money bowl style component to the from who's working there to how the players and how they think about things. Most teams evaluate players very in very similar ways today. It's hard to find value in that way. Everyone values on base percentage. So there's, there's a new way to find a bandages that we argue it's through player development with his basically been ignored in the library for number of reasons. But what we're seeing bay when you look at Houston Astros is at a team level when you look at TD Martinez Trevor Bauer chill just in Turner, the player individual player level. We're seeing people who are taking smarter often data back approaches to developing skill behind the scenes and they're enjoying huge advantages on the field and they're increasing skill levels. Were never thought possible before and it's, it's, it's changing the game in a dramatically. And we feel this is the next state of data based science back revolution baseball. So when you talk about because I, I know something about moneyball I one of my favorite movies to, to be honest, but you're looking at this as a as a way to help players sort of train their own. And develop their own talent, which I think I agree with you. Major league baseball at least used to be there. There's such a huge focus on these monster free agents. Right. I think it's to a teams advantage to be able to develop their own talent. Because one it's cheaper over the long run is, you know, and to there's more of a at least in my opinion, there's more of a fan, loyalty when a team develops their own talent because you can hang on to that talent for a long time. So how do you use these these new statistics in this new way of looking at numbers to help develop talent. That's a great question. And it's about information coming from new technology, a new ideas and the Astros, for instance have been at the Trump this at a team level and they fired a lot of coaches. They brought it more technology than any other club of for instance. The high speed camera chronic is come into baseball recent years to I think most importantly, put scripts how for the first time because exactly how pitchers fingertips impact impart spin on a ball. Release it most teams are experimenting with the first such I speak Cameron's been raining this year field bullpens yesterday was last year seventy five of these things hard mounted at every affiliate stadium. They have a big stadium, and they were getting all sorts of information. How do our pictures release bitches, how to the best pitcher? So that occur. Baller slider. Instead of traditional coaches out their system. They fired a lot of those guys but in. New thinkers, college coaches, guys would embrace the new technology new ideas. And what have we seen while the Astros last year every fill every affiliate? They have basically their level in strikeout rate for pitchers home run rate, five. All right, for hitters, like every spin raid on curveballs, basically every positive stats indicator, you'd want the Astor's at or near the top of their minor league. Loved. Of course they were a great major league team to. So how how is how is Travis hours? Major league baseball are the embracing. This is, as you know, with Bill. James, he was somebody who was ignored for years. And they took some teams along time to conform to or sign onto the moneyball kind of theory are major league is major league baseball. Are they accepting this in our the embracing it? Or are they dragging their feet? Well for one hundred twenty years dragging their feet, and then what happened is guys like Justin Turner and JD Martinez was an unintended by the monks twenty thirteen season. JD Martinez ironically was let local by the Astros. Twenty fourteen and us guys reinvented, their swings using not that they had been taught not to us by the coaches for their entire lives. I don't know how much you play it. I don't know how much baseball played, but I, I was never told the year. But that's the best thing you can do as a hitter that's going to be cancer, the optimal outcome. What hitters have been taught for decades to swing down on the ball drives us the big part of the field turns out. That's all wrong. And Justin Turner duty Latina's told us that Sova number number of other hitters what you wanna do. You wanna get one of a slight uppercut. You wanna bet allows you to actually get on playing with the pitch. That's traveling slightly downhill, and that is your best outcomes hitter. You didn't love Justin Turner. He didn't in the twenty thirteen season. Hit not at a home on the entire year until September and either heard Marlon Byrd his teammate for most of that season. Who's one of the first one changes talk about this outside instructor you'd work with the previous offseason name Doug Lada, and how he changes swing and he'd transformed from ground ball hitter to a five hitter who's having a career year and on. September six twenty thirteen. Just you know what I'm gonna try that. You're stuck in the batting cage in Cleveland the progressive field and he started. He took an uppercut swing. He tried to catch the ball out in front of the plate things. He'd always been told not to do. And he started home runs like he'd never hidden batting practice started that that game that night. He homered, I I'm all year. Two days later. He homered again the Mets soon on tendered them off. To season but he signed with the dodgers and the rest of history. That shows you the power of this change. It does. And I think that teams are always looking for an edge now. Is there a final question here, sir? Is there a, a worry that some unorthodox players may be ignored because they don't necessarily fit in fit in with this new technology? And maybe the maybe the new data shows that you know, that the spin on the ball, isn't isn't coming off their hand quite the way that it should is there a worried that there's some players that could be diamonds in the rough might ultimately end up being left on the trashy. That's a great question because we, can we can we still don't know everything about baseball. We can't measure everything, and there could be a deception to pitcher delivery that allows him to be active despite a lesson ideal spin rate, or exceed, so there's certainly there certainly are cases like that. But by and large, you look at the team like the stroz evaluating the lowest level minor leaguers against major league averages for spin rate pitch philosophy. Bath producing these underlying characteristics, you're at risk of being overlooked early earns early and we're seeing hitters and pitchers more learning how to add velocity had had a spin and create better break in pitcher suit. And what happens when more and more pictures become cover Ballard making design plus sliders from scratch off offseason training. High speed camera episode of tracking device underhand tracking them proven practice. So there's a risk of overlooking unconventional players, but I think more important is a stick -nology. In new ways of thinking or unlocking new levels of skill and talent for players Travis. Thank you very much fascinating interview, and I appreciate you being with us. The book is called the MVP machine how baseball's new nonconformist are using data to build better players..

"Old baseball advice throw the pitch that works best for you and hill became one of the best pitchers in baseball kind of out of nowhere, and landed a big contract. And we've seen similar transformations with guys in the middle of their careers. Like JD Martinez, like Justin Turner, their few guys who I think, have brought a lot of attention to this. But really until the last couple of years, I don't know that most teams were making this a priority. Although you did have your early adopters like the Houston Astros who in addition to doing other things, well, have really been at the forefront of development. And so all these things that started kind of outside the game. Or we're player driven or showed up at these hotbeds of baseball instruction outside the game. Now those are getting adopted into the game and by teams but that's really only within the. Couple years. Yeah. Really interesting that you mentioned, Brian Bannister. And he is an ex player his father was a player, I believe someone who was the royals with someone who was Quant friendly to some extent during his career. And then numbers for the Red Sox in an analytics role. You also mentioned that there are spaces, where significant development is happening outside of the sort of traditional, you know, midge league minor league baseball, spectrum, and almost universally, at least in the book, they are described as happening in very strange places drive line, which is the first pitching and now also hitting as well. I guess think-tank maybe might be a way to put it. You know, the process there is happening, according to the book at some point in Tacoma warehouse, where there used to be enemy fights. You went to go see someone in north ridge office park at Amman amino the Yankees pitcher, who went to northeastern, who I'm slightly by stores Filled or. with these graduate, rented a vacant storefront in New York City. I mean these develop processes are happening outside of the game in such sort of strange. You know, a unlikely places perhaps even you mentioned, Dr basically, like a like a, like a Jerry Rick sort of, you know, I it's, it's like it's like a refined develop place or wasn't or, you know, certainly several years ago. I mean, do you think that, that sort of is encouraging players like you know, if you're a player who wants to drastically change what he's doing, like he almost gets more out of it by being in a place. That is so obviously nontraditional that it sort of gets the night at their element..

He made in Houston said, okay. You've made some changes. I wanna know what changes you made. JD goes in this direction, which is up in Jayson Castro went in the other way, and the, the twin signed him, knowing that he, he was a defense. I catch, right? Brings up Castalanos four two Tigers in the third fastball just off the plate away. But why the green told you that just Nick spent a good ten minutes with them? Yeah, they actually hit our cage down below, but he just said, just good advice, and it wasn't anything major, but just don't change who you are a breaking ball strike, but it meant a lot, I think, to him, gyms begins to embark on the journey, and there's no tougher journey in any sport than the journey from the low minor leagues to the major leagues. Help me about it. You're not kidding. And that young man was really impressive. And yet you kind of chuckle because the launch angle stuff is really built off an old school route Ted Williams. The one to little bit low check swing me did not go to balls and two strikes. Well, you'll Ted Williams theory, which, I, I believe in is simple. And when he said that my eyes lit up because too many players try to make it too complicated. You gotta keep it simple. Jacoby Jones, I think is a great example of that. He has simplified things in. It's made all the difference. The to swing and miss flattered down. Nick strikes out. "Of the league overall, including players from all thirty teams. So they had a wide range of topics. They're the most intimidating pitcher in the game. Who did they pick? Chris sale second. Max scherzer. Yes, aroldis Chapman was third on that list. The most intimidating hitter in the game. Mike trout. Yeah. I would have gone Aaron judge is far as intimidation, but Mike trout forty percent said him, then it was Aaron judge JD Martinez in Giancarlo Stanton. Yeah. Intimidating. You're right. Intimidating judge is the specimen. I still think they'll good pitchers think they can get those intimidating hitters out. I think the scrappy hitters like Dustin Pedroia in his prime. You know, those are the toughest out there jeeter's. But I think yeah. If you're using the word intimidate, and you're right judge would probably be more intimidating than trout's traps and that big thick neck. They looks like a tailback who was the most intimidating hitter in your time. Gary Sheffield by then he was most violent, you know, right? He's come up with the Marlins ice to he I actually stole his suede shoes. But he gave them to me. But I still mouth locker because I just wanna be Gary Sheffield, I was like the wiggle wiggle, but he was violent and he never took an bat off. What about the most pitcher wise? Yeah. Yeah. Randy johnson. I mean, one is ugly one hundred nasty slider. He's six foot the hand. He's squirreling as flavor saver on the mound over this black glove. You can't really see us is. Yeah, it was just it was a battle. And I went four for four the first game against him. And owner, and I'm like, this is amazing. What they thought I own rain down the Mercer. My thing he's struck me out thirty times, we didn't gonna fiftieth. He doesn't strike me. Somebody's gonna take kindly to go and four for four including a home run off of him. And you meet the next town. Right. He's saying who's this guy? We got like fifty eight wins with the Marlins he has get caught slipping in the hitters count. And I home runs a fastball. Get a couple of doubles. Okay. Life's good. I don't think I missed contact for the next mass. The most underrated player in the game is. Under it a man, it's, you know, Andrew Benintendi. I think this kid the batting titles champion waiting to happen. I just think he does a lot of great things on the baseball field. But you have Mukhi JD Martinez Zander Bogart's, but I would say Andrew, Benintendi, just watching little guy. Plays the game the real. I think he's really Betty. Yeah. He gets lost a little bit in Mookie shadow. But he's he's a talented kid. The most underrated player in the game. According to the players in the game plays for the nationals. Ooh. Dome. Yeah. Was it? Yeah. You look at some of his numbers. I mean. Yeah. That's a good one. I like that one Paul Goldschmidt got he was runner up here. For underrated. You know? What do you know? What's underrate rate about him, Danny, and I'm gonna tell you. He is a tremendous base. Stealer. Shut the numbers on like he's still more bags than Mike trout over the last few years like he runs and when he runs he's safe. He's smart just locking on Paul Goldschmidt, stealing twenty bags accidentally. But but he's not underrated. He's just under covered. I think there's a difference in that. Because Goldschmidt was great with the diamondback. He could win the MVP the National League this year. Of course, it's almost like, Mike trout. See, right. You don't hear much about him because there's such sweethearts of human beings. They've been on the west coast. So there's not a whole lot. Right. You just kinda like, okay, they're great players. "Opinions on this. But the value of stolen bases early in the draft. And I think so maybe that's the only issue JD Martinez wanting to get some steals early. But I mean, how can you go wrong with a guy that legitimately could lead the league in RBI's again and hit another forty home hits. Just so well hiccup part is amazing. He can triple crown. I know the triple crown is a little. Some people don't like it as much it's kind of contrived thing. But for fantasy it's super important because very major categories that that we use since twenty seventeen JD Martinez. Third in homers fifteenth and runs second biz and second average, and yeah, I don't think that you need steals in the first round. I don't think that that should be the limiting factor. That's why I have not so high and janey as well. He did go five in my draft. But I had constantly seen him. I kinda thought I was going to have an option of getting him. I thought yellow Jenn air begun. And I'm gonna be taking J D with my first picket seven, which I would've blandly done. But he was not available. He went fifth, but he's just been so so so great and some the drafts I've been in side of this be I I've seen a reluctance to really take them in that top five, and it's kind of it's been peculiar to me. But. Well, it's not happening. Right. I mean. Why are we really going to pretend that the fact that he played one hundred twenty games in less the previous two seasons to last year doesn't play into that? I mean, that's the reason people are gonna get hurt. Yeah. But he still performs despite that. I'm not saying it's a rational decision. But that's why I mean, that's the only reason because last year he was absolutely amazing. If you think that he's going to stay healthy because the age there's no reason why he isn't going third or fourth. But the reason he's not, and he's kind of jump or lumped in to that kind of glob between you know, picks three and eighteen or is the injury and afraid he's not going to be able to hold up. He's thirty one. He's got a long history of getting hurt. So I look stuff though running into a wall and defensively for JD Martinez. He's about his bankables a first runners he can get. I completely agree. I think he should be going the top five. I think I have him v. Personally. But at the same time, that's the reason there there's an obvious reason why it's happening in fairness to those who also bounce them down. I will acknowledge that that three through like twelve maybe even deeper is is pretty interchangeable. Like, there's a lot of ways you can go. So I kind of get it too. But I I've always I've always caped for for JD Martinez. Obviously former tiger. Okay. I remember that for those that don't remember. That's just in self roasting, which I respect by the way. But yeah, he had a Michael Moore says is better than JD Martinez. God. With was my first year doing fantasy now. Two thousand fifteen season. I said that Michael Moore's would be better than than JD Martinez. All right, Justin, what based on that. You get to take a break on this one. Because all. Yeah. "Whenever I do radio and podcast hits. I also lock out of the room. Just like you've done right now. Jeff, so they don't care about how long game takes what I see. They care about what I care about is how long it takes to have a ball put and play not pace of quality of play and the pace of quality of play to me the way to fix that is fixing the shift. Why is this so difficult for base? Ball to wrap their arms around Jeff. We'll let me let me let me play devil's advocate. What's what's the shift typically take away rich? What it takes away is the discerning hitter in my mind. The ability and the abilities on answer the answer, I was going for their singles because that that is what in in actuality, it takes away of bunch of singles, and you're not going to the ballpark for singles. But your point is really well made because left handed hitters, especially now feel they have to lift the ball. They do because you're gonna have a guy in deep right field. And you're going to have a guy on the right hand side or the left hand side. Excuse me. If you're looking at the bag of self, you got a guy on the right side of the field from shortstop or third base. Whatever is you're gonna have three guys over there. And to get the ball by those guys if you're left handed pull hitter you have to lift it. And if you're trying to lift the ball, you are likelier to swing and miss, and if you're likely to swing admit, that's one of the reasons that strike outs have gone up the way that they have the amount of strikeouts in baseball right now is really troublesome. But I I also think personally from what I've seen with my kids, and and with others that baseball's bigger. Issue right now is demographic I think that a generation of fans whether it is because of how fast the game is going right now, or how slow I guess it's going in a lot of cases. And because there aren't stars in the sport have a really tough time connecting with baseball, and they look at baseball as a boring sport. And that is the last thing you want to be in the short attention span there twenty nineteen that we have you don't want to be boring and in baseball right now to me has that issue that is so much more important than any of these other things that they're fighting aren't last one for you spring training games begin tomorrow. How do you see the price Harper situation playing out and I'd like it in the voice of Grover place. Jeff. I wish I had a good. So then short of that. How do you see the how do you see the Bryce Harper thing? Playing out with spring training games starting Thursday. In addition to that it was last year that you had to leave and I had to finish up because yet again without in your sleep. I had to do the last part last year myself. No, I was left over. You know years ago, and as I tend not oversleep so he took care of all of them by just having him live. So Jason is here with us. He's got to meet Charlotte. She loves them. But she's very mad that. And if you sled note, I'm interested to grop slides fifteen, but I think everybody knows that they're not gonna let us do that chance. For me. I right.
