"This Jacob to grab fellow? One of those hard throwing flamethrowing prospects. Spindly guy. Just to have long hair. I think you should grow the hair back. I think so too. The mets got Darren ruff for JD Davis and three pitchers with the names of the big haul to you. That felt like a lot for Darren rough. Yeah, it did. The pitcher's name Seymour sepak and zwack. I enjoyed very much. They also added Michael givens from the cubs for an a ball pitcher and then prior to the deadline they had picked up Tyler naquin and Daniel vogelbach. So now I guess they've got a platoon partner for Vogue. Yeah, they're gonna voltron together like a really good option there. Yeah. So, you know, I know that people were wish casting Soto to the mets to, but that never felt like a fit to me. Right. And I mean, they are another team that could have used Wilson Contreras, right? Yeah, so let's talk about this. Why isn't Wilson Contreras on the mess? I do not know, or any team other than the cubs. What was going on there? No hap trade, no concerted trade. Well, and like if they weren't blown away, then fine. Here's another question for the mets, so you haven't gotten Wilson Contreras. You want to compete for the World Series. Is there a reason that Francisco Alvarez is still in the minor leagues? What are we doing? Yeah, I mean, they really could use help at catcher Wilson concertos was right there, so I don't know if the price was way too high for it. I wonder. Cubs are not new to trading away players at the deadline, so they should have some idea of what realistic expectations are there. And if they weren't met for some reason, then that confuses me that a team like the mets was not willing to do that. So one of the big surprises of deadline days that Wilson Contreras is a public. And Ian happ can keep hugging each other. For the rest of the season. Yeah, it's pretty, it's pretty shocking. I mean, we don't assign a ton of pre writes for the deadline because, you know, there's variability about whether guys move. Like we had, you know, we had some Soto content in the can, right before we came into today, and smart of you to anticipate that. Yeah, we had some Castillo content like ready to go and we had some Monta stuff ready to go. And then we had contrary to stuff ready to go. I'm sure JJ didn't forget to use it. I mean, I'm happy for cups fans because they get to keep watching, you know, Contreras and they get to keep watching happen. That's exciting because they're not getting that team stripped down quite the way that we thought they would, but yeah, I kind of can't account for it. I do wonder. And we will never get a completely accurate TikTok of these things, but you know, you just really have to wonder, how much did the Soto of it all throw everything off? Like, I did hear from a couple of people in front offices that like the entire deadline was just kind of weird for them because of Soto. It's like we want this guy and bad team will not talk to us because they're with this Soto thing and they don't know what they're going to have at the end of it. And so I do wonder like, is it just that the market didn't crystallize quickly enough for Chicago to feel like they were getting what they wanted? I don't know. It's weird. It's like, I hope they keep hugging. Yeah. You know? It's nice to Hogan lower stakes moments. Yeah, you don't have to hug when you think it's going to be the last stop opportunity. Right. To do it, you can. Yeah. As long as everybody wants to hug. You should say, hey, are you a hugger? And then if they say, yeah, like hugging is nice.

"Two O pitch and that's hit hard down the right field line and it is fair and going to the corner. Arenado scores. And here comes run number two that's Dickerson and a triple for Dylan Carlson and the red birds tack on two more. It's 8 four St. Louis. I was Ricky Horton on the Cardinals radio network. Now, JD Davis was hit by a pitch in the foot. No one would suggest he was on purpose, but this was after earlier in the series, four other mats had been hit by pitches, so Nolan Arenado came to the plate in the bottom of the 8th inning. Here was the first pitch. First pitch from Lopez high and tight ball one. Renato looks back out at the mound. And he's got some words to say. Now the whole point umpire Jeremy reacts. Trying to hold him back to benches are clearing our NATO just shoved neato out of the way and now some pushing and shoving happening between the pitcher's mound and home plate. Nido being held back by melina because nido was the one who was thrown to the ground by our NATO. It was actually the first base coach Debbie clap who was holding Alonso from the pile as now cooler heads have prevailed by show Walters out there. The umpires are in the middle. "And the cougars have been beat and Alabama, 83 to 82. Samson was begging and pleading with the officials to take a look on review to see if that ball was touched off the rim at the buzzer. And it wasn't, again, Leo Phil IMG Houston radio on the call there. I was laughing during that because every time I see Nate Oates, I crack up. By the way, I sent the photo out of that as well of NATO. It's waiting for the handshake here. Let's just get into the end of the other thing. Before we get into great win for bam and all that stuff. So let's resolve what you asked me. I say that's not Baskin interference. But I think you can make a case that you could so good. It's so good. But I do want your answer first. Baskin interference. Yes or no? No. I thought that I thought it was a good no call. Somebody in the comments on YouTube makes the point and I don't disagree with this. They do this in football all the time. Call it so you can review it. Or in football rather, let it go so that you can then look at it like a fumble, they just say, let it go, let them play play out. Don't blow it dead. Then we'll look at it. And we'll make sure we get it right. Here, in theory, you could have blown the whistle and then reviewed that. But once they don't blow the whistle, there's nothing to review. But either way, I think they got it right. If you wanted to make Kelvin Samson feel better in that moment, you could blow the whistle and then review it and then overturn it. But I think they got it right. So I got no complaint. I don't think that was basket interference. I thought it was a clean play by JD Davis. I agree with you. I've had people reach out and strongly disagree. I'm not saying we're at 100% correct, but I've watched the play probably close to 50 times and I'm just not seeing any angle that remotely suggests, again, yes, he pushes the ball toward the rim, but it's backward rotation caroms away when Davis and swats it. It's on its way down. If you're a Houston fan, I understand. Now, as for this picture, if you're watching on YouTube of Nate Oates, he's out there doing this handshake deal for like 6 seconds, then he laughs to himself, or laughs at something off camera, then he does it again, and my tweet is NATO, it's waiting for Kevin Sampson's handshake. It's phenomenal. And here's the reason why. Because NATO almost got tos down to the damn game like four minutes before this. He was out of his mind. He was out of his mind. Very well could have been Houston's game. And this was an incredible late night shout out to anyone that was watching this in real time, because again, as GP said, this goes right at the Saturday Night Live. It's well after midnight on the east coast. I was trying to watch Billie Eilish, you know? Saturday Night Live wasn't even remotely on my right. I did not realize that. I'm trying to squeeze and watching the end of halt and catch fire before it leaves Netflix in a day. I got like three episodes. That's what held me up. But anyway, yeah. And then I had people saying like, everything you can imagine about Nate oats off of that. I get it. Guess what? This is good, okay? Oats has villain type qualities. Good college basketball, the more characters you have, the better. He's going to do stuff that I'm going to disagree with eventually NATO. And he's done stuff before that's created headlines. I'll let you coach K last season. But his deal was he was he kind of, I don't want to say this was trolling, but was he was he doing it for effect? Sure, if you're a Houston fan, you have the right to be extremely mad. Sure, if you're not a fan of either of these teams and you want to be mad at us. That's fine. But what he did is not the worst thing that happened here. Hold up. Let me start by saying, somebody has a problem with NATO's doing that. Somebody, my mentions were a tire for 16 hours, because only a nerd would have a problem with NATO's. What is he doing? He's having a good time. Again, it's hilarious because he lost his mind three minutes before and almost got kicked out of the game, but yes, no, a lot of people had an issue with this. Yes. A lot of people did not like it whatsoever. And more of this stuff, please. Coaches are already extremely buttoned up in large part across professional sports, college sports, college basketball coaches, generally they're a little more willing to be themselves and NATO's is never afraid to say what's on his mind and do that with what he did was nothing compared to, did you see the video that came out of it was calen Sampson, Kelvin's son, and a couple of the players that trashed like the vomitorium were Houston was going back to his locker room, did you wind up seeing that? I didn't see that now. Yeah, so they were all frustrated over how that game ended. And I get it. I don't necessarily even blame them for this. But yeah, there was no it wasn't huge. But they knocked over some trash in October some bottles and all that stuff. And then it was Jamal seed. I want to give him credit, the Houston player. Someone else got it on video. Oh, I did see this. He went over there and picked it all up. He did it by all by himself. Like no one else is so credit to Jamal sheet for doing that. But I think it might be to Jamal shed, shed. Thank you for the question if that's the case in my apologies to Jamal for butchering the last name there. But like that compared to oats, it was a wild wild scene though, man. It was just, it was awesome. The game, 15 league changes, 11 ties, the final 14 of those 15 league changes came in the second half. Alabama is at 1.19 points per possession. Houston was at 1.17. It was the first time Alabama won back to back games against ranked opponents in the top 15 in the non conference. The non conference back to back wins since 2001 humongous win for Alabama here, and I would put him, I think they've got a real case to be top 5 that I own a loss as a stench to it. I get all that, but man, between we talked about him last time around what to do with Gonzaga and all that GP, but you look what Davis is doing. Do you want carries on the play that's emerging? He had 19 in this game. It was a hard fought game dramatic ending. I was losing that oats, give me more of all that, but yeah, awesome, awesome game. It actually will get to Arizona, Illinois a little bit. This one update. This was that this was the best game of the weekend there and it just happened to have a controversial ending. If Alabama doesn't lose that game to iona, there may be number one right now and no worse than two. If they don't lose to I own and they have the win over Gonzaga, then we lead the podcast talking about Baylor versus Alabama for number one. And it's a real, it's a real tos. But the I don't think prevents him. I think you can make them. They have back to back wins over Gonzaga in Houston. And that's, you know, one away from home. I think they've got, I think they really have got a top 5 case. Elsewhere in the SEC. So they were actually 13 SEC teams that played either Friday.

"Wasn't the only big game of the week, and there was another fun one in Tuscaloosa late Saturday. Final score, Alabama 83 Houston 82 last 35 seconds for a while. Let me run you through it. So Houston's up one. Final minute, Alabama has the ball. Javon Quinn drives, gets off a little floater. It misses, but JD Davison's there, stick back down 32.5 seconds left. Alabama retakes the lead. It's 83 82. Now we're on the other end. Houston tries to isolate Marcus sasser. He loses his dribble. Kyler outwards picks it out recovers the ball. He's in scramble mode, sort of launches a desperation three. It does hit the rim, but it misses Fabian white first tip doesn't get there, tries another tip. Jenny Davis and swats it away from the rim, clock expires, game over, Alabama lands Kelvin Sampson wanted a goaltending on JD Davis and he didn't get it. Dead leg. The Kelvin Sampson deserve a golden car. No, because it wasn't even goaltending period. It was the most you can see if you're watching on YouTube. You can see the GIF, courtesy of our friend, Tim Burke, bubba Prague. Look at this. The ball is rotating backward. It's coming down. Now, the angle is not perfect, but that is a S.W.A.T. and eager one by Davison. He gets it out of there. No, this is not goaltending, by the way. If anything, this would be basket interference. There is a difference between the two. This is not as far as I can tell. This is not Baskin interference. If you think differently or you agree, feel free to cite your reasoning in your opinion in the chat room as we talk about this. But no, and you know what? When this happened, when I was following in real time, it felt like the timeline was as split over something as I can recall in a long time. "And extend that lead rather than have to play a final possession with the game on the line. I was actually coming home from the at dinner with my family and then coming home while this game was ending, so we were streaming it in the car and there was a moment where it looked like Gonzaga like, okay, one more stop one more shot, they're gonna have a chance at this thing. And Alabama, JD Davis, into the big three, the 5 star freshmen. They took Gonzaga's punch in Seattle, counterpunched and put the game away. Really impressive performance. And as I wrote in top 25 and one on Sunday morning, you know, they've got a real chance to be back to back outright SEC champs. And if they don't is able to do that, he'll be the first coach to do it since Billy Donovan did it at Florida in the 2013 14 season. It's pretty good. I'm about to give you some props here. All right. So it was last Sunday Night where I kind of busted your chops over and not wanting to put one more on the top 100 list. Folks, Parrish was adamant to have JD Davison on that top 101 list. I was not. And Paris was very, very much correct because this was the best game of Davidson's own career. He hit that huge shot that which really stopped the bleeding and solidified it, career high 20 overall. He is a bucket of fun man. They got a four guard attack, you know, Ken Ellis is a 6 wing 6 6 wing guard. If you want toss him in there, he's technically labeled as a guard. This is what's going to make Alabama such a fun team to watch and a nightmare to prepare for let alone play against the season. Yes, they're going to take more losses, whatever. But Davison, who you can not miss on the floor because he has got he's just got the boss of all boss dues with that with that lion's mane out there. He just drips confidence. I love it. He right now is the game got him up to 9.8 points per game on average this season after dropping 20 in this one. But him, Jaden shackelford, who was just blazing hot in the first half, January Keanu is they combined nicely for 69 of mama's points on Saturday night. And at this point, here's where we're at with this attack. Shock for 19 a game. Quarterly is at 14.9. Davidson's at 9.8 Ellis is at 12.1. Alice is actually absurdly absurdly efficient. His offensive rating at Ken palm right now is one 34.5. And if you're unsure what offensive rating is, you take the number of points that will be that a player basically contributes to produces per 100 possessions, but you got a factor in field goals, makes in misses rebounds assist all that stuff. So if you're at a hundred, you know, you're okay, anything above one ten is good. Anything above one 20 is very good. Anything above one 30 is elite. Kian Ellis is at one 34.5 this season and he's the least heralded of the four players also was the only player of those four that wasn't a top 100 prospect when he got to Alabama. They had 1.14 points per possession against Gonzaga, because I had one O two on Saturday night. And again, you mentioned the three point shooting. It was good, but it was total volume play GP. 38% from three 47% from two. Those are good, not great when you combine them overall, but they hit 13 threes that wound up being a difference. In addition to the fact that Gonzaga was 13 of 25 from the foul line, which equated to just 52% at the end, Gonzaga just did not have enough time to overcome the deficit. And man, I mean, shackleford and Davis and they just combined. I want to say they hit like 7 or 8 shots between the first and second half where when you're watching the flow of the game, you're like, these are real body blows. So credit to NATO, and they prepped well, they get a good, I guess, maybe it'll be logged as a semi home win for Gonzaga. I don't know. Gonzaga had to get on a plane to fly to that game. Yes, they had more fans in the building, but to me it's borderline neutral. That's a really quality one that's going to that's going to last a good while there. And Alabama certainly right now is setting up to look nearly as good this season as it was with as it was last season with many new members of the cast. You mentioned shed holmgren just on him and then we'll move on. He only played 22 minutes in a competitive game and it wasn't because of foul trouble. He had one foul. He just kept him off the court. For stretches at a time, and among the reasons is because he's not really giving them anything special on the offensive end of the court. Like he's a unique talent and undeniable talent, but exactly how you use him, I still think is something they're trying to figure out, especially when you've got the preseason national player of the year in the front court as well in drew Timmy. In theory, you're supposed to play Timmy on the block and let homegrown float as a legit 7 foot center because he is, again, theoretically, dangerous from out there. He's zero four from three against Alabama and he's shooting 30% from three. So far on the season..

"The ACC, the big east big team, the big 12 and the back 12. So the final league that must be discussed is the SEC, which is another conference that seems completely up for grabs and here's some evidence to support that claim. In the preseason media poll, it was Kentucky, who was voted the favorite in the SEC. But my pick is Arkansas. Dead leg stick is Alabama and Kim Harmon torque both have Tennessee as their highest ranked SEC team. So in the big east, I think the only sensible pick in the preseason is villano, and in the PAC 12, there's really no data to support picking anybody other than UCLA and the preseason. But in the FCC, you can reasonably pick one of four different teams at least. Like, I think I've asked you this before. Perhaps about the Big Ten? Forgive me. But is the SEC? On second part is the SEC, the most up in the air, power conference in the country. Or do you just expect Nick Saban to win it somehow? Oh, I never rule out old Nick, for sure. I think that the Big Ten, I'm gonna maintain what I said before about the Big Ten. That's going to be the most compelling best race at the top. With the best teams. But if you're looking for the most variety and you just laid out the evidence why that's going to be the case, the SEC is the league for you. And I very much enjoy this because it's really not often certainly not every season where you'll have a power conference where you will have 14s with legitimate cases to be the best team in the league. You'll often you can get three, two is almost a damn near guarantee and every league that's not the big east and most seasons and maybe even the big 12 during Kansas heyday. But to have four, we are actually we're in some rare territory. And I personally love it. I like Alabama coming off of what was statistically when you consider how good it was in the regular season getting the two seed and winning the SEC arguably the best season in program history, even though they didn't make it through to the final four anything or get it to get out to the elite 8, which had done previously a program history. I'm gonna go with Bama, but I'll hold off on my thought on that for a second there. Not that you're anti Vayner because you're not. But what made you say it wouldn't be Bama wouldn't be Kentucky and made you pick the way the way you picked in your poll? Some of this is, I mean, all of this is tied to the top 25 and one. As you know, I started on the night of the championship game and then I adjust every time it needs adjusting throughout the off season. And so when I am asked to project the SEC, I just say, okay, let's call up virgin 27 at the top 25 and one. And I've got Arkansas tenth in that. Alabama just slightly behind them. Kentucky just slightly behind them. If I'm telling you the truth, though, I don't see much difference between these teams. I've got them in a certain order just like you got them in a certain order just like everybody has them in a certain order. But and I guess I'm willing to throw Tennessee in there with them. But I really don't see much difference in Alabama Arkansas, Kentucky, and my rankings suggest as much. They're all really in the same group. When you break down Alabama yeah, you know, they lost three of their top 5 scores. That's not great. But the top two are back. Jane shackford and javon queenly. Jacqueline average 14 points 3.8 rebounds, two steals per game last season, you know, 12.9 points 3.2 assists, 2.2 rebounds per game. They bring in to go with that. A top 15 recruiting class J Davison a 5 star point guard ranked 12th in the class of 2021. He's a projected first round tip pick one and done. And then they added four star center named Charles Bianco who was ranked 34th in the class of 2021. So that's two really good prospects. To transfers, Noah Gurley, from firm at 15.4 points per game last season, he was terrific. The other one, namari Burnett, and he, of course, suffered a torn ACL in the preseason he's out for the season. So that's not great, but when you start talking about bringing back the top two scores, adding a 5 star point guard, so you're gonna have two primary ball handlers in your backcourt with corner Lee and Davidson. And then Noah Gurley from Furman who's a productive division one player. I like this team. And I love the style of play. They really guard you and they launch three pointers. And it's all by design. That's not just how they played last season. That's how they're going to play underneath oats. It's fun. It's modern and it's effective. And if you told me, the crimson tie, we're going to be back to back SEC regular season champions and because they did this too. Back to back SEC tournament champions. You know, in NATO's third season, that wouldn't shock me at all. They're good enough to do it undeniably. The reason why I went with Alabama, the margins are very narrow here. They do bring back 12 players on the roster who were on last season's team. So yes, I lost a couple of important guys. Obviously, MBA the last NBA talent on the team. But when you go through the kind of season band, I went through last season and so many of the guys that were in those practices on those road trips going through all the COVID protocols together, I think a lot of that will wind up meaning something big. Shackleford and Davison are on our top 101 players list. They came in 14th. The shackleford 60th. He could make us look a little silly if you told me he was a top 50 top 40 player by the end of the season. I had a 100% believe you and then a little inside behind the scenes, our final four players on the list every single year one through 90 7 are a collective voting. And then each of us get our own pick for a guy. You went with JD Davis and at 98 and you obviously you did that as a play. Given how he would highly he was raised as a prospect and the fact that he obviously projects as an MBA player. GP? Of course. And I was really just protecting us because listen, they played an exhibition last week or earlier this week, maybe the days are all running together. Get 19 points in that game. My concern if I didn't put him in that spot was that Alabama's gonna win the SEC. He's gonna be their best player. And we didn't have him on a list of a 101 players. That would seem ridiculous. I was like, he was the the most obvious, freshman who is two things. Playing for a team that's supposed to be great. And is a projected lottery pick slash first round pick. I just didn't want to leave him off. So I used my spot. I think it was 98 for JD Davis, and just because there's a chance he's gonna be the best player. He's certainly their best prospect. Yeah, the reason why the reason why I have bam as high as I do is I had a few coaches tell me that in fact, javon should make the huge leap if oats fully lets him off the leash. He'll be the player of the year in the league. I don't know if he's going to be that, but I think we'll be the team's best player. Davison will certainly have his own moments in shackleford, by the way, is far from a slouch again. These are three of the top 100 players in our estimation in the sport. You mentioned Noah Gurley from Furman, I think he could add some secret sauce there. So if you're a Bama fan, your football team's always great. Your basketball team for much of the past two decades has just been in and out. But this year, like last year, I think you're going to be highly relevant as for your team GP Arkansas. They are, you know, I mentioned in the previous.

SEC Alabama Kentucky Noah Gurley Kim Harmon villano Arkansas Tennessee Jane shackford javon queenly Nick Saban Charles Bianco namari Burnett Davison ACC PAC UCLA FCC JD Davis Nick

I forget what the average is whatever it is but it's going to be a decent chunk. Yeah for one year. So that's not going to be the worst thing. Be able to get that and then go bet on yourself again. So from the mets perspective. Like i said my issue with the mets is. They can't go back with every you can't have smith and and conforto and davis and emo and mccain kenneth the scene one of them sure yeah right. You can't keep going with the well if mcneil now know enough of me. I be with mcneil. Ib jd davis. I stick with brandon. I might be done with dom smith unless you decide. You want to move into first base then have alonzo's and then maybe roaming that happen. Maybe confirmed the one guy who you say all right. I'm gonna look at this as an aberration. And i do believe in him as a player and also the options that might be elsewhere. You didn't sign springer's any kind of stuck with going on conforto and you bring up. A great point is the d. h. You kind of just kind of slid that in there. That's not a given yet and i've kinda felt like we all thought it was going to be a given for this season right and you had teams in the national league doing business. May maybe maybe they did know. We didn't on the outside but as we were looking at teams going into twenty twenty one. It was like wolves d. h. avenue. Deitch not going to happen and you had teams doing business trying to figure out how you can struck the roster not right thank you have that spot or not because the mets would have been a team that one hundred percent would have benefited. Yeah right they might. They might have been more aggressive because they know they can move. Dom smith problem going in wasn't no dom smith to play left field. It was. How are we getting all these bats in the lineup. That was their issue. And i'll tell you take us a further if there is no d. h. Whatever reason because you're right we don't know we're just assuming and i do think there will be one of university age but if there isn't dom smith has gone he has to. You can't and i like him. And i wanna see him play for. He's a better first. Baseman than alonzo. You can't is no purpose playing every fifty. You can't do that. You're not going to happen in left field. Every time he's getting real players to play their real positions. I totally agree are a few minutes. After nine o'clock we'll take a break. And sal jerry in for boomer and geo on the fan and cbs sports network our to go we come right back into it next live for the built ford tough studio it is sal and jerry in a four boomer and geo all over the map this morning of course a lot with the mets because of the zach scott situation just because of the mets and we had terry collins on last hour which certainly a lot of fun but we did start the show after we got through all the Traveling issues we had with the yankees and garrett cole who really went out last night. Sal and it wasn't a late game you're able. You didn't have to stay up to watch. The game started at seven o'clock when out in los angeles and beat the angel soundly. And did everything that you said. You need a stopper in an ace to do. He was that and then some last night and gave the yankees everything they needed and that was a great thing. You got to watch an ace on top of his game. And gary cole- go out there and do his job that's why he's here. That's what he what he's paid for to go out there and stop the losing streak. Four games no big deal. But you didn't need a win. If you're the yanks you want to come home feeling good and the off day and then take it on the orioles but more importantly to jar you want. Not that would he does in early. September is going to be a harbinger for what he's going to do exactly in october. But you still wanna get garrett cole right you want to get that bullpen right. You saw this job. This is the game. This is what you wanna see in game. One of the postseason. You got a couple of clutch base hits you gotta marriage cogos seven will. Why is the eighth. And then chapman close it out. I know it's the angels and the red sox or not the raise but still that is the formula for what you wanna see in game one on the postseason what you love to. He's funny in baseball. Sometimes you know you get that two out. Nobody on and you feel. I get nice quick inning and the next thing you know and this is where the yankees scored a couple other with the clutch base. You get the lemay hugh to out walk in the third inning and then next thing you know you get the rizzo single you get a judge walk and then you get voight comes up with the clutch two out two run single and that with the way cole was pitching really set them off into the right path. They want one of the game. And one of the thing about coal. Just to mention his dominance over otani and goslin was incredibly impressed especially otani because we've seen him and we saw him dazzle here at yankee stadium. Otani was i mean just lost against coalesced. And how fun. Is that. Just from forget yankee fan perspective for zag just baseball fan perspective garrett cole shohei ohtani i mean those are must watch. There's only a few of those in the game right. I mean you can only have you talking about very top pitcher vers very top hitter and you get that matchup and called dominated you said early. It was overmatched. Otani was yeah he was. You know it's almost an again. I didn't get to watch a lot of this last night because we lost power in the first or second inning. Whatever it was the bottom of the first inning But yeah i mean you hear coal starting. You wanna watch the game when you were so. I know for me. When i was growing up when strawberry came to bat i had to watch it so much. I mean even into his time with the giants. This time with the dodgers's time with the yankees like couldn't wait for a strawberry at bat. Gooden probably you couldn't wait to watch him pitch. i remember. I was a little young for both those. I remember it and those are my two first favourite players but i was a little young to truly appreciate it trying to think if there were a like otani comes up like you wanna see ya must watch and it was different to when we were growing up. Because you didn't get to see these guys as much to do now. Now you check out your four in the morning you could basically watch anything you want you go watch them live so all those different things back then. It was cool to see tony. Gwynn or kirby puckett whatever. What about bonds were you. When he was going the way he was was that must be. And i know we thought might be going on. But that was really. I'll give you a one. Griffey probably is the one that especially when he went to play the yankees. That was a big deal but bonds is the best player i've ever seen in my life especially that year. We did a topic on this in regards to atanas a matter of fact. Is this topic on. This week's back is otani the this year the best performance you've ever seen and i think the obvious entered a lot of people. Yeah the way. He's pitching hitting for me. I said no. It was bonds. Whatever your was two thousand and two is the most incredible thing. I've ever all my god. I mean you couldn't get him out and working with the basis loading buck showalter that arizona. Didn't he wasn't a buck. That did that. I believe on. I'm not even sure. If he was alone. I mean it happened multiple times i fought or at least i mean they would walk in big spots guys on first and sag was it was all based openness walking home. He was getting walked. You couldn't pitch them through it in the zone. He was clobbering. Think about it whether he's on the juice or not seventy three home runs all their players have been on the jews. Nobody's come close to seventy three. Think about that. For barry bonds. No cheapies mutilated the ball. I mean my god. One season would mcguire and up. What his first year forty-nine no no no i'm sorry in the service we'll just seventy four mcguire will get because he broke mares at sixty one blew past that and i think so sixty seventy no. I don't think he might have got to seven. I don't remember if he got this. About how ridiculous that you'd sign.

"Darling was still break. That one down. When brian step back into the box enough balls to centerfield don't feel let's hit by. Barry bonds are going out. Brian deep left field. That's a place you can hit home runs and brian has his second of the night the giants starting to park them in the seats. It's now six to three the noise. He had a little bit late night. There and can't turn the game off and you know and it's been on the west coast. They're doing the games from back here to stay up late and deal with this. Still brandon crawford added rbi triple in that frame. The giants went on to beat the mets at oracle park seven. Five richhill got the start. He couldn't make it through force. He allowed five consecutive. Hit us enough with chill honestly enough. Bring up someone from the minors. I can't even watch it or put in the bullpen. Or just make it even more of a spectacle in just fine like a fifty five year old mitch. Cologne wants i mean. Why not give him a shot. Rather see that. I would not wanna team falls out of it in. The mets are in the process of doing that. Just make it fun for the fans you know. Give a fan a shot at third base and the hot corner may give like one of those. What do they call us. Fantasy camps out there. Yeah give him a shot allen his His bruce shingle out. There snake. somebody's dream come. True playing third base with stanton up. Oh my god i mean. We'd all be watching. I can guarantee that everybody would be watching. Fans mets fans everybody. We'd be watching that it'd be a one. Hell of a spectacle. Yeah the bases were loaded out. Wouldn't have anything to worry about. Stan would swing and miss there to strike spider in the lefty batter's box. That's for sure it's probably too well. That's why i'm saying it's along the ways. Well anyway jonathan. Vr did have a cheer on homer in the eighth. Obviously not enough. Pete alonzo two run triple to right center. In the fifth the mets had gone sixty eight games without three bags. That was the longest stretch in the major since at least nineteen o one. He looked gassed. When did especially then scoring on the saqlain gave was exactly again. They left nine one four seven with runners in scoring position. And now oh and four to begin this thirteen game gauntlet. Here's louis ross. Take it one pitch wanted bad one at a time. Think outside of executing bitch by the guys are not pro for the chances to execute is going to be even lower so we got a focus in our game. That's where everything has to be. Jd davis not interrupt. Real quick. today's august seventeenth. And i heard a-rod say this sunday night and then last night the mets actually got one. You know they've only got fourteen sacrifice flies. On the year it's august seventeenth almost seems impossible so triples and sack flies. Not their specialty. H- anyway my right and that goes to show their major flaws. They can't get guys in from third base or in scoring position. They don't do anything with guys on base. Yeah i'm sorry. Continue the problem anyway. Here's a real pearl of wisdom from davis deep thought and strategy from him. I've always preached about trying to win a series and obviously losing. Today the importance of tomorrow's game is obviously in order to put us in an even advantage one wine confucius. He's just talking just to kill fine. I understand they're not asking to go and answer these questions they have to but sometimes it's painful man. It really is all any team. That's losing whatever they say sounds horrible but do you think the press conference are like what the orioles and the democrats the media even show up anymore. What's the point right. Yeah great question. got marcus. Stroman on the mound. Today i guess he didn't feel the effects of the red eye flight to san francisco. Did you see the video s. And why tweeted out of him on the field yesterday handstand. That is insane. People do handstands and pools and it's not easy. He did hands down on the field. No wobbling for twenty seconds kicks along the way and basically. He's okay that's enough. He didn't even like fall over and lose balance. I wonder how long he could have gone. So i actually watched a little bit of american ninja. What is it called. American ninja warrior. That last night there was a fifteen year old. Who competed out of these from new jersey. You you had to see this kid. I was under strength and the balance and it was unbelievable. Any wasn't even like he was jack there anything just in really good shape and you know i love to see us. Try this You know the thing with the bar and you gotta jump from yeah ring the ring a heated it so fast it was. I'll tell you. I know it might not be the most popular show for people. Love that show man. Impressive really impressive do something. I get more destroying on that. Yeah exactly core strength love. Yeah i will see how. He fares for the mets in game. Two logan websites for the giants first pitch again at nine forty five. We wondered yesterday of syndergaard was on the trip. Apparently he is because he's expected to face batters in live. Bp couple times on the trip and if that goes well he would head off for a minor league rehab assignments soon thereafter so afa he continues to stay healthy. Maybe you'll see him pitching game sometime before the end know we talked nine. He's a free agent. Yes yes. I believe with him qualified for the mets. Yeah case though. I think you have to the qualifying offers. A no brainer. Yeah that's how you pretending team would come in and give him big money now if he doesn't come back and pitch this year absolutely he probably take the qualifying offer. Yes assume he comes. Back in pitches makes a couple of starts looks good. You don't think it'd be a team out to take a flyer on him. Not at almost twenty million one year deal made him. I think what is it. Isn't it like eighteen point nine or now who knows if it's more next year somewhere around in the eighteen to twenty million. No one's going to give more than that probably not yeah cubs and reds will play the twenty twenty two edition of the field of dreams game and dyers ville i well at least according to the white sox in every one of those games i guess not. Evidently i in reds old school matt scott. The chicago feel again. I know it's the but yeah. Yeah now the reds diamondbacks orioles do. God did beat chicago monday. Fourteen to five. Twelve th straight loss for these stripped-down cubbies. Hopefully they retool before that game next year because they've got nothing on their roster right now in that game joey votto three for four including his two thousand career hit twelve days after signing on with the dodgers cole. Hamels finished placed on the sixty day. I l with a shoulder issue by the way like the mets. The dodgers flew home to the west coast. Sunday night monday morning except they went out and beat the pirates last night. Two to one on home runs for max. Muncie and billy mckinney. Obviously facing the pirates at home little different than facing the giants on the road but they did win. Nba celtics marcus. Smart grant of four years. Seventy seven point one million dollar extension and as al. I mentioned on the warm up. "Your boy wayne. Randazzo would in nicely with those names. On that yankee low joe yes without a doubt that turned out to be a big run by the way james mcken doubled home. Jd davis in the ninth. But then he was stranded at second of five. Four marlins victory handing the mets their fifth loss in six games. Time to regroup says mccain's you come together as as brothers and as as guys understand that we're gonna fight for each other dana day out and you don't let the the negativity surrounding the current situation affect us as a negative is you lose. That is negative goes away if you win is does rather quickly. God what is it is it is on diaz name is pronounced. Hit the home run last names. I've i've not familiar with a lot of kids. Yes right well delacruz. We heard last hours as i. Two major league is so the marlins do that a lot. When you get these young players you never heard of that. They bring up and get them making their debuts. They've got to win so far in the series as for walker even though he took the loss and gave up four runs over five and two thirds encouraged as he tries to get out of this funk. He's been in since the all-star break. I'm going to read direction. Honestly you know. I had the two walks hit ground balls through the hall and i thought that was able to. The home runs unusual all a similar something after last. Start any pitch really good. It's just the home runs. Home runs a couple of pitchers who made it out of the park. Yeah great danger. Haney pitch while the other night to homers you. Yeah solo homer us. They don't give four of them. They do Carlos carrasco tonight. We'll make his second start. He's opposed by zach thompson at seven ten a little bit more from giants camp post brawl. Yesterday i padded practice and it got a little nuts Jibril peppers laid out corey clement. Who i broke three on a broke free on a run. And not they don't do tackling obviously normally. It's just you kind of wrap the guy up and you move on. But peppers gave them a little shot he goes down. Evan ingram jumps in he shoves peppers logan ryan shoves ingram and the next thing. You know the whole teams involved. Daniel jones ended up at the bottom of the pile. Here he was recapping. I mean trusted though if conviction seems to be a good game plan at wendy as nine pitch saved despite throwing only three strikes the mets have not announced a starter or opener for tonight's game so we'll stay tuned on that as they continue their series with the braves. Meantime gave you some of the injury. Updates last hour set. Lugos going to begin a rehab assignment with port saint lucie today noah syndergaard the same down there in florida. Because i can't see damn thing here man. This is tough. These you know with the elbow pads the hand peds alonzo's cut a a on his bottom hand. Did you see that. Yeah they all. These guys have the shoulder pads. And what i wanna know. Even all really started with barry bonds when he showed up there he basically looked like a transformer would've gotten to the box. I mean that thing on his arm that went shoulder to his fingertips that he would put on there. And ever since then. It's gotten the crazier and crazier all right. Let's go to. Thomas is back. What's up for dominance good morning. Hey guys good morning how you doing all right man. What's going on you know hanging. Hey i just wanted to say man. Please touching the money. This point is foreign to the season where they are. What do you think could happen. That they drop into one of those playing seeds and then don't get a real playoff series is average. You're thinking man. I don't know this man Ever since ever since we have you know this guy. He became a yankee fan and gangqi talk. That's the afternoon guy. Yeah that guy spank. Well he wasn't john sterling and susan there as well. No she's sitting there watching this crap to and i ultimately believe that they will figure this out but god right now. It looks awful course. Four one the only run they scores in the ninth inning. Clint frazier had his first. Rbi of the season with an rbi single and that was that and even the way the braves scored marcelo's zona a bases loaded. Walk sack fly on the night. Just austin riley did homer late in the game but four one. The final as the braves get the split. Here was aaron. "Is this franchise really into it in his regular season game. I mean how many times we've seen it with the nets this year. Kyrie irving will take a couple of days off and just whatever you know you see some of the franchise. It's not just the nets but these nba teams will sit down a bunch of guys. They'll mail it in. I mean that never happens with the knicks ever. i mean. When was the last time you felt like you know in the second quarter. They're getting blown out in. The game was over and it doesn't happen as him. So here's the thing they don't they're they're in every game. They are in every day and they come back. I have to stay to get debt. Doesn't happen to a lot of nba. Teams teams will show up totally lifeless even the best teams in the nba and get smacked around here. Or there i just. I you know philadelphia and brooklyn if healthy are going to be really tough match ups for them. Of course. I think. I think that they could play with the celtics. Obviously comply with the hawks zone. The hawks by the way You know they're beating teams around them right now as opposed to above them. Although the the hawks were you know smidge above them. Now they're now. They're above the hawks. I just is probably four or five teams. They they're they're going to have a hard time with but that doesn't mean that they're not a top ten team in a league. They are a top ten team in the league. No right now can't argue it. Knicks are top. You can't say that i can. I mean the four seed in the eastern conference. I mean if you would have said in the beginning of the season no matter if they played one two games or prior to even playing a game. If you would have said we'd be sitting here. In the end of april and the knicks with four seat in the eastern conference. Oh i would have laughed. You're right off. So who like are we we know. It's julius randle. Obviously derrick rose since he got here is had a major effect on this team but guys like alec burks right nauruans well neurons. Oh well there's a perfect example of a guy who people knew who he was. He played kentucky. Everybody kind of knew who he was. I think the knicks signed him. I don't think anybody was like jumping up and down and a depth but not a big deal but now now has been playing and has been playing his ass off. He'll get his eight to twelve points. Whatever but he's always going to. His ten rebounds is going to get as four five blocks. He's going to do exactly. What thompson needs them to do. Every single night with hodgkin's guessing game kind of like turn a little bit when a second group got in there and they got down by nine had a fourteen iran and then they came in and then they came back. And i mean this is like it's nice to actually have a two waves of players. That are all being impactful. I mean outside of. Ob top and he doesn't get a ton of minutes. But i'm talking about guys who were actually getting run night in and night out. There isn't really anybody he's gone. I like see that now. You're now you're talking basketball. Getting run getting some run out there but of all those guys. There's not a single one of them. Then i'm disappointed to see in the game really all of them. I feel like all right. This guy's going to be in there. He's going to get the job done. It doesn't matter who it is now..
