Is This Going to Backfire?

"Is this going to backfire? That is the opening question. I want to ask you, I'm hearing that for quite some time. And I think people mean well when they say that, but for the last couple of years, ever since Biden was implemented as president of the United States, I have been hearing well, Charlie, this is going to backfire. The trillions dollars of spending, this will backfire the open border. That is going to backfire. The environmental fanaticism, this is going to backfire. The rating on Mar-a-Lago, this is going to backfire. The spying on moms and dads, school boards, that's going to backfire. And I wonder, has it will it? Now, I'm not trying to be too cynical. I'm not trying to discount this too much. But I do wonder, why is it that we immediately gravitate towards that talking point? For a while we've been hearing, well, this is the year of the boomerang, things are going to come around back to normal. And I think it's very tempting to say that because you want to believe the American people are always going to course correct. And we've seen some evidence of it. We've seen lightfoot removed. We've seen the district attorney of San Francisco removed, but generally, where was the backfire against the COVID lockdowns? Who was held accountable politically for that was Gretchen Whitmer, held accountable for locking down her state, was JB pritzker, held accountable for locking down Illinois, was Gavin Newsom, held accountable. The answer is sadly, no. And that's not to say that people can never be held accountable, and there is not an equal and opposite reaction bubbling up. But what I am saying is we have to resist the talking point that just because something unjust happens, there will be a guarantee of a political backlash.

Can Joe Biden Make It to 2024?

"The people at Fox news have come out with a piece today. They have now officially entered the what if Joe Biden can't make it sweepstakes. Of course, earlier in the week and late last week, we saw a different stories coming out saying that maybe JB pritzker, a Illinois might be the SOS candidate. There was a New York Times piece on that. And a lot of different media outlets have come up with different speculation as to who might be the fallback plan because most people in the bubble know that Kamala Harris is not that person. And with increasing obviousness, it's looking like Pete Buttigieg is not that person. So they're having to look outside a little bit in case all else fails in Joe Biden can't answer the bill. Fox News is entry, Michelle Obama for 2024. Yes, I'm serious. They're talking about, hey, could she would she? She could stand up a campaign pretty quick. She could raise money pretty quick. She's got name ID. She's got everything you could possibly want in a candidate if Joe Biden can't go. The only catch to it is that Michelle Obama has shown exactly zero interest at all for wanting to do a job like that. But that's what Fox News thinks is a possibility.

Now Winfield 17 year old son needed to be rescued and received CPR before being taken to University of Chicago hospital and the sun's 16 year old girlfriend was also rescued and they are both recovering at the hospital now. Winfield's wife and two young daughters made it out fine. Excuse me, one firefighter got minor burns to the face, CFD officials fear the houses of the total loss and could collapse at any minute here. It's not clear what started the fire at this time. Governor JB pritzker says he feels comfortable that the no cash bail portion of the safety act will be upheld by the Illinois Supreme Court. The governor is expressing optimism that the pre trial fairness act will be allowed to be implemented, but if that doesn't happen, he says they will be back at it. We're going to continue to focus on public safety on making sure that in my view someone who's wealthier shouldn't just be able to buy their way out of jail when they've committed a violent crime when someone who is poor can't hasn't committed a violent crime and will sit in jail. So the whole purpose here is fairness. Governor pritzker says he's a confident the law is constitutional and says he expect a ruling sometime in the next few months in the meantime, the state Supreme Court has issued a stay while the matter is under review. The New SAFE-T Act of Illinois Is CRIMINAL

"There's this bill that passed. It was super quiet how this went through called the safety act, one of the sponsors of the bill is a guy by the name of Justin slaughter. Oh, that's a very fitting name for the sponsor of the safety act. Justin slaughter. You can't make it up. It's like something out of an Orwell film. Yes, Mark murder is the sponsor of the safety act. And Hank homicide was the final sponsor. No, actually, his name really is Justin slaughter. I can't make this stuff up. With a black power fist, raised to the heavens. Exclaiming. That the passage of the safety act. So I want to make sure I understand this correctly. The safety accountability fairness and equity today act, otherwise known as the safety act. They try to be super cute with their naming here. Passed with the backing of the Illinois legislative black caucus. This is back in January of 2021. Beginning in January 2023, it abolishes cash bail. Now, JB pritzker signed this into law. It is state law now, and there he is. There's Justin slaughter not to be confused with Hank homicide or Mark murder. Who puts his black fist to the sky as the bill that will allow the slaughter of Illinois citizens continue. The safety act has not received the coverage it deserves. Illinois is one of the largest states in the country. Illinois has one of the largest cities in the world, let alone America, Chicago, and this is not received any sort of coverage. All kind of goes into this theme, Republicans wake up. Why are you not talking about this stuff? So now starting in January 2023. These offenses will be non detain able offenses. Democrats Are Losing Their Edge With Hispanic Voters

"Axios reports shifts in the demographics of the two party supporters, taking place before our eyes are arguably the biggest political story of our time. The big picture, Republicans are becoming more working class or as we call it the muscular class. And more multiracial. Democrats are becoming more elite and a little more white. Democrats hope for retaining power, rests on non white voters remaining a reliable part of the party's coalition. Democrats theory of the case collapses. If Republicans make even incremental gains with those voters. Quote, even small inroads with Hispanic voters could tip a number of Democrat held swing seats to the Republican Party. It certainly can hear in Arizona, for able to do that against the snake Mark Kelly. Democrats are statistically tied with Republicans among Hispanics on the generic congressional ballot. Democrats again held a 40 7 point lead with Hispanics during the 2018 midterms. Why is this happening? Democrat strategists say the party's biggest vulnerability is assuming the priorities of progressive activists are the same of those of working class voters. Quote, progressive activists led to push the cut, a police budgets, communities of color have borne the brunt of higher crime. Yeah, no kidding. They can't afford armed guards. They can't afford bulletproof SUVs. They're not flying private. They don't live in gated communities. They actually have to live through the misery created by JB pritzker, or Gavin Newsom,

"City And with JB pritzker as governor I've seen our state literally awash in just lawlessness Would you get into politics yourself I'm going to avoid getting the politics Why I could not imagine running in this day and age Where every time you turn around somebody's taking a cheap shot And it's really easy to take a cheap shot not based in fact or reality And then you're left with the headline story that's just the proverbial fake news And when you go to try to write the ship and get the real story out there that's C 17 No one ever reads it But is that social media Or is that Yeah I think it's a combination of social media and it's a headline there all intended to be as inflammatory as possible In a day and age of how do you create clickbait you want the headline that is just like the most over the top headline you can possibly generate and the truth is the second order issue We're almost out of time What are you most optimistic about and what you're most pessimistic about in the next 12 months It can be politics economy So I see the clock I got 30 to one seconds here I'm going to run the clock And with optimistic I'm most optimistic that there is a sense I believe in our nation of we're heading back towards the center You know you see it here in New York City with the new mayor You saw it in Virginia with the choice of governor I think there's a rising sense in the United States that we belong as a country back towards the center I'm really worried about where are the millions of Americans that should be in our workforce Because every day they're not they're losing really important life skills You know people give the fed a lot of criticism for having been slow to raise rates But you have to give them a lot of credit They brought roughly 10 million 10 million Americans back into the workforce And it's much more important to protect the human capital of our country First and foremost then to deal with what we believed at the time to be transitory inflation Now there's no doubt the fed's been thrown two really big curveballs The COVID zero policy in China continuing to persist and now the war in the Ukraine But big picture we have brought our economy back to full employment nominally We still need to bring millions of Americans back to the workforce And if we don't the loss of productivity is a really.

"Democrat and both chambers of the legislature are democratic. So the idea of a tussle between Democrats and Republicans dominated chambers in Illinois, roe goes down is not in the offing. So probably go ahead. But we had a Republican governor just prior to me. And there was a tussle. And it was over this HB 40. The previous Republican governor threatened to veto HB 40. That was the bill that would remove the trigger law in Illinois. And he threatened for months to veto that Bill. He received a lot of backlash. I mean, there was a lot of protest. I was one of those protesters. And I showed up at his office with thousands of postcards from people across the state to let him know that if he did this, that the people of Illinois don't agree with the position that he was taking. Now he ultimately was forced into signing it. But that tussle would exist, you're absolutely right. If we didn't have the democratic and pro choice trifecta, as you know, just being a Democrat doesn't mean that you're pro choice. We saw that in the United States Senate. There is one member of the United States Senate who refused to vote in favor of a woman's right to choose. There's another who's not pro choice, but voted for the bill. And that was the courageous position to protect women's rights. But for folks who are watching, you are sitting in front of a banner that says JB pritzker dot com, clearly you are running for reelection this fall. There's a divide between you and any of your potential Republican opponents when it comes to the abortion issue. So I'm just wondering, how do you think the abortion issue will play out politically in the Republican primary, which is coming up on June 28th? It's a great question. We will see what I can tell you is that every candidate on the Republican side wants to take away a woman's right to choose. Every one of them. They've all pledged to do that. To varying degrees, they're some that want it that even believe that women should be forced to take a baby to term, even in the case of rape or incest. So it's a radical agenda that they've got on the right and I think that because of the draft opinion, you're seeing people wake up to the idea that more and more your decisions about who you're going to vote for need to include the question, is this person going to stand up for my reproductive freedom? Is this person going to stand up for the broad set of privacy rights that were established in roe V wade if roe V wade is overturned? And that's becoming a major issue, even in Illinois. We've had big protests all across Chicago. That was just at one last Saturday and they're having another one this Saturday. I don't think it's going to stop and I think you're going to see a tsunami across the country of people who support women's rights coming out. And they're not just going to protest..

"But there is a generation ten years younger that is fighting hard and they're willing to do what is necessary. I want to play some tape from this. It was so moving. I am pushing our turning point USA development team and media team really hard to get the kind of Montage of the students. It was so powerful. Let's play cut 80. It's a shortcut up. JB pritzker and the government do not give us our rights. Our rights are given by one person and one person only and that is Jesus Christ. Our wonderful country and our beautiful state is in such a fallen state because Americans chose to stay silent and not stand up. At my school last Tuesday, around 50 of us refused to wear a mask and our school decided to segregate us into the auditorium, not letting us get our education until we put on a face muzzle. Since when was segregation ever the answer, at this point, they're just begging for the lawsuits. This was never about the health of our safety of our children. This was about control and it started at the local level. Their high school kids, so if you're listening to this right now across the country and you have students that are being oppressed, they can do that. They should do that. Gov. J.B. Pritzker Delivers State of the State and budget address in Chicago

"Delivered his state of the state budget address this afternoon. His budget proposal eliminates nearly $1 billion in corporate tax loopholes. Old state spending levels flat, includes new federal money for education and does not include a tax increase. This will be one of the most challenging budgets this government has ever had to craft, but I know there are willing partners in the General Assembly. Compromise, hard work and a willingness to make tough decisions is going to be required of all of us. The state is currently facing a $3 billion budget deficit.
