Jacksonville reached the playoffs for the first time in 5 years despite a two and 6 start. Josh Allen returned to fumble 37 yards for a touchdown with three O one remaining, putting Jacksonville ahead to stay. Patrick Mahomes said an NFL record in the chiefs clinched the top seat in the AFC playoffs with a 31 13 thrashing of the Raiders. Mahomes threw for 202 yards and ran for 29, giving him 5608 total yards this season. That breaks the marks set by Drew Brees of the saints in 2011. She reminded him that if things went as they had hoped and if he stayed healthy and scouts and teams liked what they saw, that they would have something big going for them, then what she had, at least the child might be in a better position financially than what they endured. And she told him that there was nothing they couldn't get through, and that she'd always be there to help. And knowing Randy Cole exclusively through the story that you have reported, Liz. It feels like she is not exaggerating when she is saying that she will be there to help. Yes. In December of 2017, Tatum's rookie season, Jason Tatum, junior is born, he is known as deuce to everyone. And he goes on the road with his dad, and if you look in the stands, the person who is near him is brandy Cole. Now, I was going to say grandma, but she doesn't like being called grandmother because she's too young. And so deuce calls her BB. But yes, she's very present in his life. But it is worth mentioning because it reminding everybody who maybe has forgotten or suppressed these memories I've been tempted to do, that there is an alternate world in which deuce Tatum is going viral for high fiving players in a locker room in the 2022 playoffs that are not the Boston Celtics. So this 2017 draft because Jayson Tatum is a freshman at duke, and he's entering the draft. He's a one and done kid. I mean, this is the draft where clearly in retrospect, he is the best player. There is no question now. But he was not taken number one overall. Infamously, he was not taking number two overall infamously. So how is it that Jayson Tatum falls to number three? To the Boston Celtics. He was hurt in the beginning of duke season. He sat out the first month with the foot injuries. By that time, everybody was kind of zeroing in on markelle fultz. The Celtics Danny agents seeing him play in the ACC tournament. Had seen Jayson Tatum play there and was very impressed with him. He brought him in for a workout and Tatum just shot lights out. Nailed a bunch of three pointers, looked bigger in person. Kind of debunked some of the thoughts that teams had that he was only a mid range shooter. And the Celtics saw him, even as a number one pick, but they were pretty confident they could get him at number three because Philadelphia was locked in on faults and that the Lakers were going with Lonzo Ball. Yeah, I mean, the whole idea that the sixers take Markel faults. Brian colangelo the GM at the time of the sixers who would then later be deposed in a burner account, scandal, which is its own amazing multi part series of a story. But the fact that false went number one overall made sense to everybody. The fact that Lonzo Ball went number two overall to the Lakers, also made sense to everybody quite frankly. And so was Jayson Tatum then disappointed to wind up in Boston as the third pick? Not necessarily. I mean, he used it as motivation, most certainly when he played those teams, but I would say, if anything, the biggest disappointment of that was that the Lakers didn't even bring him in for a workout. The Lakers were his favorite team. He idolized Kobe Bryant. And it went beyond what most kids, they might wear his Jersey or whatever, but Jayson Tatum modeled his game, his mindset, everything after Kobe. And to be honest with you, in like the 35 minute interview that Ramona and I had with him, he mentioned Kobe quite a few times. I mean, Kobe was his guy and so he had kind of dreamed about going to Los Angeles and.

"I don't think his stat line reflects how good he was in that game. And half for sure. He just shut off the paint defensively. For sure. And you know, I thought that Hardin played fine. Is there any other series? I just want to hit on by the time I think a lot of people listen to some I Deandre in story is going to be out. Just keep an eye on Deandre ayton, like I was even blown away by the numbers, but did you know he shot a better percentage from mid range this season than Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell? I did not know that. No. This guy, what he's done with his offensive game. I mean, he told me, he's like, I want to be a threat. He's like, I'm playing with the vengeance. The work he put in floaters, jump hooks, ceiling in the paint. He had a better points for possession average in the post than Yanis. Than AD, he shot better in the paint non restricted area than Luca and Giannis, like, this guy is more than just Chris Paul is pick and roll partner. He was shot a better percentage in a lot of those areas in the time that Chris Paul was out this season when he started popping threes. Yeah, just keep an eye on ayton, man. Listen, the sons rightfully so caught a lot of heat taking him over train Luca and he's obviously not going to be those guys, but I'm just impressed he's proven how valuable he can be to a championship team and he's more than just a he's more than just a lob threat he's so much more than that and I was really blown away by because I was hearing from him from suns assistant coach Mark Bryant, the work he's put in on his offensive game. Defensively too, I mean, he's probably at this .1 of the last guys in the league who you feel comfortable with going on on one against yo kitchen indeed, AD, et cetera. "Okay, let's jump into the postseason talk. Let's recap some weekend action. I have some friends. Yes, sure, exactly. I primed you up with some questions for a few series that I think we should be covering a little deeper than others. And the first one, I don't want to bury the lead anymore. Obviously, the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets played as classic of a game one in the first round. That was the most game 7 game one of all time. Yes. That was a heavyweight prize fight. It was a great basketball game. The Celtics obviously won at the buzzer, Jayson Tatum's layup, one of the more entertaining sequences that you will see watching professional basketball, the fact that emea duca did not call time out when a lot of coaches in that situation would have all the time. That's kind of my litmus test for coaches these days. The coaches who push like is a pusher. Like, you don't, those are the, that's like my, you know ball. You know what I mean? That's the closest to coach, you can get to being a peer Uber. So that sequence, but just the whole, honestly, we'll get into it. We'll talk about Kyrie in a second, of course. I like to try to keep it as much to what Kyrie does on the basketball court as a player, but he makes it also kind of to be honest. 100% ignore all the other stuff. That was the most I've ever rooted for Kyrie in my life. To me, and I know a lot of people who felt the same way. I was texting a lot of people who felt the same way like, that was the most heat endeared himself. To people in a long time. And I hate to break it to Mike, but I think a lot of people who are not Celtics fans felt that way. I feel bad for people who are rooting for carrier Irving. I'm just going to, I'm just going to say that. I felt great yesterday. It felt great yesterday. Just letting it wash over you. I'm sorry. That was incredible. He was unstoppable down the stretch. Just like, you know, we've been watching him for a decade, but sometimes he will hit a 33 footer with a hand in his face. And it just makes it look easy. I was so ready, for months you and I have been talking about how much we've been looking forward to the first round. And it just completely lived up to my expectations. The games were fantastic. I was already texting you like, I think net Celtics was one of the best playoff games the last few years. If you're trying to calm me down, I'm not letting you have it. It also just feels like, and this is no shade to what happened to the playoffs last year. But the games just feel like the most intense they felt since 2019, it just feels like we finally really hit a groove here. And it was a ton of fun. The only time I left my couch was to walk the dog. It turns out that one lap around my neighborhood takes exactly long as one halftime, which is perfect. Just yet. Just loved it. Loved every second of it. That's wonderful to hear. One 28 to 75, what was it? 36 from Tatum. You had 30 from jaylen and of course, Tatum coming off the 51 piece that he had at the nation's capital, which I was able to see up close and personal. It's been one hell of a run, I guess, but of course, two games, not quite enough, right? We've seen this team long enough, but how do you feel about them right now? Just wait, are you going to talk about The Oprah 27 for the 3.9? Are you going to get to that? For 20 max, that was weeks ago, man. It still was like, that is this glaring that think about that. These are all for me. Shooter. And you see how the law of averages works, though? And you know, here's another one. Steph Curry hasn't been shooting it well here lately. And that's kind of crazy when you think about the greatest shooter of all time. You know, not knocking down shots. Now, they can't say they can't get it going. But and then you look at us. "Just please wear the game starts. Yeah, help the man out. At least we're not talking about the paths anymore. In the interest of time, because we've got you for another ten, 15 minutes, there's still some stuff that I want to get to. One of which you did a deep dive on for mass live earlier today, which of course, everybody's talking about it Jason Tatum's shooting struggles. The man is, you know, 14 straight mysteries now after the zero for 7 against the hornets, he's shooting a career low just below 32% from three point range and he's doing it as you noted on a career high 8 attempts per game. You know, Brad Stevens was on the radio this morning, said he's not concerned about it. You know, guys are going to miss. It's all about getting looks. If you get the looks eventually wanders gonna find its level and yada yada yada, but should we be concerned me rob? Yeah, I mean, first of all, when Brad's comments is like, what is he going to say? Like, yeah, I'm freaking out about it, because it's incredible. This is awful. This is our cornerstone and easy. Forgot how to shoot this season. Now, but. Tatum has a history of starting season slow and then really finding his own after the all star break. So from that standpoint, you don't worry too much. There is time to turn things around. With that said, this is a pretty dramatic drop off. Like 31% is bad. And I know the NBA as a whole has taken a dip in 3.3 this year for whatever reason, whether it's fans back. The new ball. The new ball. Tatum obviously is playing the Olympics. He hasn't had time to dive. He can point to a thousand different reasons why might be the case, but the problem is, like, what everyone kind of wrote about, too, and everyone talks about what the Celtics need and the offensive was a big part of the equation is Jayson Tatum has been a lot worse on offense this year. Like period. And when you're efficiency drops, and if you just play at the level they were at playing out last year, they would be the four or 5 seed right now. They would probably have won at least three or four more games just based on the amount of 5 of 19 duds that Tatum has had this season, which I think honestly is probably approaching 8 9 ten games right now in total. So there's still time to turn around the four years of a track record indicate that no, he has not forgotten on issue. We have pretty good at hard evidence that he'll come around on this, but you do have to wonder just, again, when this turns around and whether the fact how much of a problem the fact that someone don't have reliable offensive outlets around him have kind.

"Where's it gonna come from. Well we have to do solar. We have to do wind and we have to do hydro to get it there. There's so much power here. Fire nation and jason. You mentioned stuff like what's happened in texas and rolling blackouts hurricanes and tornadoes. I mean back in two thousand seventeen. There was a massive hurricane here in puerto rico dempsey of the islands my specific community which came back online by the way much faster than the rest of the island but we were out of power for four months even scarier than that. We were out of water for like three or four weeks. Meaning that you cannot get water out of your tap. And we didn't have necessarily like a pond or river to go to and so that's scary stuff. Is you know. Listen you ken. Hypothetically live without power verdes amount of time. But what is a couple of days so now that i have my solar power jason. I bought this newbie atmospheric water generator. So as long as i have power which i always will because of my test. The power wall panels. I get eight gallons of water pumping a day through this water generator just from the humidity in the air. Jason takes humidity from the air and it makes eight gallons of fresh water a day so talk about being independent protecting yourself and your family. I'm able to do that because of solar in no and knowing that if another massive category four or five hurricane rips through here my soul my solar power is going to be power. My house which is going to be powering my water generator. I've got twelve months of fifty year shelf life food in my attic. I'm good to go for the foreseeable future. If something like that happens it'll put me in a position to help others. Who maybe aren't that lucky situation. So think about all of this as you're building up your plan going forward now. One thing you've done that. I'm really impressed with. Jason is a great job with your podcast true underdog so i wanna talk about brand building as you've done that really well with this podcast..

You know The word for us in anywhere companies and this again if name hopefully resonate with your listeners you know we permanently banned the word staff from our vocabulary and the only reason for that is because it's commonly referred to as a cost point. There's a really good point as in a financial side it is it is or an investment and you know when i talked to my group i said look i'm scared i'm afraid and i'm afraid because i don't have total control over the situation. That's like a nightmare for entrepreneurs us is a frigging nightmare was like what do you mean. I don't have control the day. Only it's slow but our team said listen. We got you we got you. There's look we're all feeling it. So why don't we get together and let's work through this together. And i love my people man. They're they're courageous They battled through it and they wouldn't let anything hold him back. And i got to stand at the back of the room so to speak and shine a bright light on all of them and just make sure that they felt care for a check in with my team. "That's the that's a different than we're seeing now because now he's getting people the ball where they like he gets the ball bag and he's keeping himself engaged, you know, we talked about it before when he's ice cold throughout the first half. Well, at least in this in this West Coast Road Trip one there is in the back-to-back, right? So we're going to see more Kemba where he's not going to be in and out of, you know, having to be forced to sit out and and to be going to be engaged more because now that the ball swinging more and and now that we're seeing some things get more opportunities for not only kembo but for Robert Williams it for Tatum that he's not going to just shy away. I mean, that's what I use the word we before where it seemed like if it, missed a few 3-pointers you felt like you couldn't find another way to be effective or you would down on himself. He didn't want to step on Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown's toes, but now everyone's encouraging One another and that's a huge difference. I'm seeing especially in that starting five. That's why I think it's so important for him to be out there of course and not having to sit out at least for these next week or so to the something don't have another back-to-back coming every time soon. Everybody Evansville twenty solo here on this Saturday Adam taking the week off should be back next week happy to be here with Forbes is Chris krenim coming off a loss and Detroit Pistons last night on a Friday night. After what was a tough road trip on the west coast Chris. They go three and four on the west coast. Plus these two games at home. I just kind of lump them all together because it's yep. In kind of an interesting road trip for the Celtics. I want these two in the end cuz it kind of encompasses. My first point. I'm not wasting any time here where you're right off right right into this right away here three and four months ago supposed to do games. Gets Toronto and Detroit and outside of the game against the Jazz. You can make the argument the game against the Jazz a little bit closer, but you know the second half opposite Jazz pull away best team in the NBA record wise, they definitely showed up in that game. But the one thing that I take away from this Chris this particular stretch of games is this team has moments where they play extremely well and you go back to that Toronto game and find a bunch of clips that were I was drooling all over the place and some certain things will get it out a little bit later, but there are times where this team just can't click consistently for 48 minutes Brad Stevens spoke about that last night after the game against Detroit how this team lacks consistency and that's what's really giving them a hard time in terms of taking that next step to being a really good team. The NBA Chris in your estimation. What is the biggest reason for the Celtics inconsistency this year? I mean if you're if you're looking at box scores across that stretch and really across the entire song in it comes down to three point shooting in their depth seems to be pretty reliant on three-point shooting and that's not to say that's a bad thing because that's just kind of where the game is right now like em, a lot of depth, you know, a lot of Coors across the league are relying on three-point shooting but for the Celtics, it seems to be a little more drastic. So you look at Toronto on Thursday the game against Toronto, excuse me, they shot 51% They made $23 right and last night. It was not quite as nice. It was ugly and then and then it makes the depth look terrible. So it's a lot of reliant on 3.6 and it's a lot of inconsistent ball movement. So again going back to the Raptors game. "Going to go when you are a player like like a brown and I feel like you know, I'm so much more akin to him. Is that everybody is damn right. Now, this is Jayson Tatum steam when in fact you see brown the way he's playing he is probably having so far a better year the question. He's been exceptional in in the way. He's developed as a player. So I just I love the fact that they seem to like each other and they seem to be buddies. They seem to be wish I asked the in the Sundance key. So I think that's a really good thing. He also doesn't seem to care to be Batman. You know, I think that we talked about this with a Sherrod Blakely a couple of shows ago. He wants to be that guy. I mean everyone wants to be that guy but he cares more about being that guy off the floor with regard to everything that we talked about off the top of the show and making the world a better place when it comes to basketball which is still absolutely a priority Germany continues to Excel and grow every single offseason throughout these years. He doesn't mind being Robin and letting Jason be Batman. He's he's not fighting City Hall and that's that always try to tell people that when you are when when I got Larry Bird coming in I could have been tried to be disruptive and try to say oh, this is I'm averaging twenty almost wage. Once again, I'm not trying to hear this but if you are smart about the game, you understand that you utilize everything in the game when Larry Bird came in now there was a proving Point may prove Proclaim when I play with him. "Yeah, I agree on that. I mean Believe It or Not Jaylen Brown may have ruined Jayson Tatum's MVP bit if you can. But Hey listen, if you're a Celtics fan, you're fine with that because that means you have like a 2000 monster. I mean if both these guys end up on all NBA teams, that's better than one guy being MVP and trying to carry a little because teams that have just one guy they don't go anywhere. We are talking about earlier would like the Ascension of both these guys having to get to a next level for the team to get to to the title. So that's the story of the season right now. You've got Jalen literally going games where he barely misses. He doesn't miss a two-point shot. He's Unstoppable with the boss and then it's like oh, yeah. There's also Tatum who might be one of the top three or four most skilled offensive players in the game who just puts forth in effortless 40 tonight. So those two things I mean, like I said, is those guys dead Yeah do this again. You can supplement with those other with those other players and and and get away with it. You're the you're the Lakers and LeBron and then you fill with whatever Jag wants to play for you because they want to jump it off your coattails to a championship..
