"It is my pick at 32. That's what I'm saying. I'm offering you the chance. To I'm offering you the chance to get him on the board because my biggest regret was not putting him in my mock draft. And so I can, I can make up for that mistake. On my end. And we can just get like a guy that we love. I mean, Jared Goff really liked Cooper Cup. I think they need to win games this year. They need to do it right away. You and I both love the Cooper Cup comp on Khalil shakir. So I don't know. Lila, Lil Cooper cop. Yes, shakir. It's lions here. Boom. Done, that's a good finale for our first round there. Isn't it? It is. We still have 7 teams to go though. We have 7 teams who do not, as of the time of this taping, have a first round pick. We are jumping down to the bears at 39. Let's talk bears draft deeds, and I guess that's kind of everything. Yeah, this one got me in quite a bit of trouble. I went on good friend Adam ranks podcast. He's got a great bear's podcast. You guys should check out. I believe called the sick podcast. And we had a good, we had a good half an hour argument about I was advocating for Justin Fields and still do think that he should request a trade. I think he should leave. I don't think the NFL is impatient with quarterbacks as it is, and they chew them up and they spit them out. And so I don't see a way for them to get a whole lot better here. They need everything. And I would not be where to even start, you know? I think you would probably, my guess is if you're transferring to a packer's esque system, right? Because you've get seen in there. This offensive line's got to get taken care of. Like, no. You need some serious help there. I mean, your cornerbacks, you're gonna have some issues there. I mean, who's even your, I mean, you have jaylen Johnson, who else are you playing at corner? Right now. I mean, I mean, Robert quin is your best player. Like in the franchise. That's crazy..

"About how they've trended in recent times. It's not good, right? Obviously, some injuries along the defensive line. They haven't been able to stop the run. It's just a defense that is trending as one of the league's very worst, whether you're looking at efficiency or EPA. Now all of a sudden you're dealing with the cluster injuries in the secondary. And you're kind of left scratching your head like how are they going to stop Minnesota tonight? Now, obviously, cousins has played horrifically in prime time. That's well documented. That's good. Just horrific. And even though you had Minnesota beat the Steelers last time out in prime time, cousins played one of his worst games of the season. And you look at that game and he was pressured on 12 dropbacks. Had a zero passer rating when pressured against the Steelers. Only two balls, cousins completed when he was pressured against the Steelers. Were to defenders. Two picks, zero compilations when he was pressured. Cousins is also one in 9 on Monday night. So we're going to hear all of that narrative based stuff for this when people are breaking it down. It's worth mentioning. But there's no excuses tonight. He's going to get his left tackle back in Christian derisk looks like. The bears get pressure at the fourth lowest rate in the league, despite blitzing at a league average rate. And then you hit this perfectly. We thought at least some guys would play in the barrier secondary and then like 4 o'clock yesterday when we're all watching games. It slips out that jaylen Johnson the bears top cover corner, and they're starting safety Gibson, also hit the big C list. So the only defensive backs on the bears active roster right now. Our guy named marquay Christian, Dion bush, T's tabor, believe he's a Florida gator. He is a Kindle. Yeah. And then you got Kindle vildor. Those are the only guys that are active at the time of this recording. Obviously those are sounds better as sounds better as a marvel villain than he does is they starting defense it back in the National Football League. That's actually pretty good. In time for venom and Spider-Man that are in theaters right now. Which apparently did a massive number, sub $600 million worldwide, not in my Wheelhouse, but simply incredible in this day and age to do that much on an opening weekend. Yeah. That is that's bananas. So gravitating back towards the game here. It's like prior to the entire secondary being out for the bears. They were already dead last in the NFL and points per pass attempt allowed. It's only going to get worse. Sean Desai had actually been using jaylen Johnson as a shadow corner. So if cousins doesn't like throw up on himself, then I just in Jefferson's probably going to have a pretty big game. There's also some whispers that Adam Thielen is going to test out his ankle pregame. I'm not going to speculate. I think if you were making a line on the play, you'd probably still make it an underdog that he goes. But he's gonna test it pregame. And then the other interesting element of this defense, the guy that's kind of been the glue and held it all together is roquan Smith in the middle. He's really been like this stabilizing force. He re aggravated his hamstring injury against Green Bay's been limited all week. And he has been the guy that's limited Dalvin cook as a pass catcher. And if you look at delvin cook in the 5 games, that he's played against the bears where roquan Smith was there. He's averaging about 19 and a half receiving yards. So roquan Smith if he's not a 100% or tries to give it a go and exits after a possession or two because the hamstring won't hold up or if he doesn't go at all. That's a big miss as well. I don't know if you want to touch on the other side of the ball quickly. This is really amazing to just talking about some of the guys that are missing and then ultimately the price and where we think it's going to head. Yeah, I mean, may as well. I honestly think instead of some of the X's and I was talking about the price, you could probably make a little more sense, given we've seen money come in, obviously, on the Vikings, is anticipated when news broke late last week about the bears dealing with issues, and of course the total it open 44. Got his highest 46 before there was a little bit of resistance earlier today at a couple shops. Yeah. I mean, here's what's interesting is we know the bears put a ton of effort into Sunday Night football against Green Bay. You could tell there was buy in. Aaron Rodgers had embarrassed them earlier in the season. But if you've been doing some reading, this past Thursday, Jalen Johnson, who we've talked about and is out for this game. Did a podcast. And he said right now, our locker room has two factions. It's players who are still fighting hard, and then there's players who are in tank mode. And my guess is, well, you don't want to speculate. The guys that are in tank mode probably. Here's my guess that we're going to see. You're going to see a lot of teams that are potentially out of the playoffs. I think probably get impacted more by the bug and the virus than teams that are like fully head on with a mission statement for a Super Bowl. We kind of saw this coming into the season where the Buccaneers were like, even though they've lessened protocols, we're going to follow the same protocols as last year. We saw the cults, if you're watching hard knocks, they're the team that's in season. If you watch their meetings, all these guys have individual tables. They're all still 6 feet apart. They're all still wearing masks. This isn't to get into the COVID stuff. But I think you'll see teams that are out of it guys are going to be a little bit more Willy nilly. Anyways, the point is, Jalen Johnson said, how dare you take veiled shots at a guy like Alan Robinson like that? Alan Robinson wants out of Chicago. So badly. And he would have continued not playing. Had it not been for Justin Fields who he really likes and gets along with. That him playing last week was like, hey, Justin Fields are starting. My guess is that if Andy Dalton was the starter last week. Alan Robinson would not have played. It's hard to kind of gauge this, but all of a sudden you gave that full blown effort last week and came up short. Now you're just kind of like riddled with guys missing. And you have one of your top players saying there's factions in the locker room. How motivated are you really? And we made this game right on the opener of like three and a half and my understanding this, even though the line was showed no value, the Vikings were going to be the side regardless of everything that's transpired this week, even if the even if the bears were like fully healthy and didn't get hit with COVID, they were still going to be the side. Now we saw the Jalen Johnson news hit, where he is also out and we saw this trend from like 6 to 6 and a half..

"I mean, your content clearly makes our listeners a lot smarter and adds a layer of complexity to the discussion the paint and I have each and every week. So appreciate it and best of luck this weekend, my friend. Thank you very much, guys, appreciate it. Pain, I feel like John did enough to handicap money in a football between the Cardinals and rams that we should give ourselves to buy week. The listeners have enough to go off of. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, that was quick. Quick and easy. I'll be at the beach, Monday. When was the last time you were actually at the beach? I know obviously not during football season, but even during the summer, you never struck me as a beach guy and all the time that we've been doing these things. I don't do sand. I don't do sand. So do you bring this to everywhere? Do you bring the sand to you? Are you a pool guy? I mean, what exactly is the summer recreation and down there in South Florida? There really isn't. It's doing some traveling and then preparing for football season. Basically post March Madness to preparation for football seasons about a 6 week layoff. That's it. So it's a lot of sleeping in. Recovering. And then occasional trip or two. But yeah, I'm not a big beach guy. If you can come up with something that's outdoors with water and a grill and there's no sand involved awesome sand is like the death of me. Try to be clean. You go to the beach and three weeks later you're still pulling sand out of your ass. I hate sand. Oh, you're definitely the I'm gonna get myself a cabin in social isolation in the Woods. I'm gonna get myself a grill out there and figure out how to learn off the land once you get out of this gambling business. Yeah, that's me. 11 off the line. I figured that's what people don't know. I mean, you're mister granola over there. Go out there and hunt and forage for your own food, right? That's exactly how you live your life. No, that is not. That is not how I live my life. All right, packers and bears, one game. I don't think we need to spend a ton of time on this contest, which we're not going to tell our listeners much of what they don't already know. The Green Bay Packers and 11 and a half point favorite at FanDuel sports book total in the game, 43. This will be the 204th meeting between these two franchises, the NFL's oldest rivalry. The packers are undefeated against his bears under coach Lafleur, 5 O against the spread, and the numbers bears fans cover your ears. 30 and 14 ATS under Lafleur for the packers during the regular season. Four of their 5 home wins this year have all been by double digits. Ten straight wins in prime time going 9 and one against the spread during that span. But maybe there is a silver lining pain and I found this to be one of the more interesting nuggets, not sure it's applicable here, but still interesting to share that the packers are own to straight up off the body. They lost both games by 28 plus points under the floor's leadership. Now offer up a four game losing streak out of the buy even before the floor was their head coach. But the packers have outscored the bears 361 to a 195 the last 13 home games and the bears, ATS futility, nothing new to this franchise. 16 and 28 against the spread since the start of 2019 has them tied with the jets for rock bottom, but the franchise quarterback will return in Justin Fields. Is he enough pain to keep this game somewhat competitive or do we plan to turn in early on Sunday Night with no need to watch a second half? I think the interesting part of this is you didn't mention the floor struggles out of the buy. And I think there are thing, right? The buys now with the new CBA can be handled so differently. We're either just given time to our guys to get the hell away. And rest, or we're going to really try to implement things. And it just feels like the vibe for the packers is we're going to rest our guys. Take things lightly. Who knows? After the two games that you just mentioned, maybe the approach is a little bit different. I will say when you look at this matchup a little bit, there was one unit we kind of picked on a little bit in our NFC preview series. And it was the bearish defense. And we didn't think the parts were as good as perception. Like Mac and hicks and Quinn, they were all in the wrong side of 30. The corner situation looked bleak in terms of experience in depth. There was no clear cut number two outside corner. It was basically jaylen Johnson then massive question marks. Fortunately, Johnson and roquan Smith, the two young guys have played out of their minds this season, or things would be real ugly for the bears defense. But what I'm seeing is this. The first 5 weeks when the older guys on the bears defense were healthy and Sean decides like four one 6 big nickel defense with three safeties on the field at once was throwing offenses for a loop. Chicago was solid. 7th and defensive EPA per play. Now the injury bug is hit. Max out hicks is in and out of the lineup. Quinn is playing through an injury. Depth guys in the front 7 have been in and out of the lineup and offenses have film on what this quirky defense is now. Since that stretch, the bears are 31st in EPA per play defense since week 6..

"Who's the person who not only drafted Mitchell trubisky, but traded up in the draft to go get him? Ryan pace made that happen. Ryan pace as the person to blame. And then I look at this bear's roster. Their team is a mess. Oh my gosh, suddenly, when I stopped drinking the Kool-Aid, I'm like, okay, what's happening here? And I've never seen the matrix, but I know there's a moment in the matrix where just from seeing a hearing. Well, the main character's eye is just open up and they're like, wow, holy world. I had a whole new experience when I realized, oh my gosh, I look at this bear's team. There's problems everywhere, the person who's the problem is the person who built this roster, and that's Ryan pace. And he must be clearly terrible at evaluating talent. The only things he could do is say, hey, clearly, Khalil Mack is really good. And I think you listen to the media. In fact, they drafted Kevin Jenkins who already got hurt out for the year. I'm like, did he see Brett Coleman's video and say I'm drafting that guy? I don't know. I certainly would not trust Ryan pace. I think it's very possible that he's literally listening to the media to figure out who to draft. And it happens more than people realize. This offensive line in Chicago is not good. It is not good. In fact, they have a better chance to win with Justin Fields. I hope they don't put him out there early on. But because Justin Fields can run around and escape pressure, in fact, he might be the better answer at quarterback than Andy Dalton almost immediately because at least he can run around and keep some plays alive where Andy Dalton's going to get sacked. I think over and over and over again and I fear they're not going to barely be able to move the ball. Now the bear is starting right tackle Justin, sorry, Jason Peters. I want to get that right. The bear starting left tackle, Jason Peters, is 39 years old. He's aging. He's not what he needs to be. And in my opinion, the entire bears offensive line needs to be rebuilt. In fact, the only person I would keep his guard at Cody whitehair. Keep him replace all four other guys. Get a whole new offensive line. At corner , the bears are very inexperienced. They have second year starters, Jalen Johnson, and Kindle vendor who Kindle vendor sounds like a fake name. I was like, that's really, that's really his name. I had to share that. I rather like, well, I guess, that's really his name. No offense to him. I just like Kindle vendors, a hard name to say, it's kind of weird. Neither guy, Kindle vendor or jaylen Johnson has an interception and their entire NFL career. And look, there's weakness after weakness after weakness. On the spares roster. And I'm tired of blaming the wrong people. I'm like, okay, what's the real problem here? It's Ryan pace. Now, there is some interesting talent, a broken clock is right twice a day. Receivers Alan Robinson and Darnell Mooney.

"Even if those guys are what they were last season, it gives them more optionality within game and I would venture that they probably win more than 41 games this year. Do I think they will make the Eastern Conference Finals next year? Frankly, I don't. If we're being honest, but that doesn't mean they won't be a better team. They will still be growing and building towards something substantial. I just don't know that they'll necessarily make the deep playoff run that they did this year. Yeah, I think that's fair. And I was interested in Jalen Johnson. I thought that he was he looks more like a four to me, but that's good. I think that wing sized guys who can do that who can see if he can shoot a little bit, we'll see how we can defend. But like, in some ways, like we talked about in the southwest pod with Trey Murphy, one of the nice things for the hawks which Alan Johnson is if it works great. That'd be more power to you. You got another guy to add in the rotation. And if it takes Jalen Johnson a little bit of time, that's fine too. You can play him in the G league. You can do all sorts of other things with him. And so I like that bet and shift Cooper was a lot of fun. I had heard about his passing. It was impressive in person. I don't know if he's gonna generate enough separation to make it work, but he's on a two way. So if he doesn't, no harm no foul. Right, yeah, no, I thought Jalen Johnson looked awesome. It's summer. I was not and have never really been a jaylen Johnson guy. This is the utterly perfect situation for him to succeed. Because where he's going to be good is playing a similar role to what John Collins does is the screening for man who rolls hard to the rim. He's gonna be really good at playing the short role like when teams blitz Trey young. He's the screener and then they short roll them into that 18 foot range and then he can take advantage of four on threes with his passing ability and with the athleticism. He's the guy that particularly popped for me. In terms of looking much more athletic within an NBA space in concept. And just a big picture thing, you and I have sometimes disagreed on these, like if he figures it out, guys, like Jalen Johnson, I think prince fits firmly in that based on what I've heard about his time at duke..

"With him going into the second season his second season. Everything but lee is a guy that i'm looking at right now. That definitely has a very very high ceiling The only thing that he aims to do my is Tried to put a little bit more muscle on him. He can definitely have that type of development that john is kinda add in a way where he wasn't really that big and everything to start off the league but once you know he started working and taking you know working out seriously he. He became the yawn all custom to nap. But it's kind of fair to put me in that instance but it's just nice to show show you guys that that development and everything is possible for him and he can definitely do it and become just a monster for this. Cleveland cavs team. But it's definitely gonna take some years to develop everything intentionally. Some years put on some weight but overall on his work at work on Shot selection. You know trying to get some ball that i Trying to get all that chemistry and everything would darius garland isaac koro calling sex in company. So i'm excited to what the young star has going forward as well as a coro- and moving onto the magic with as need hampton. They can easily be guys for the letter magic team. That could push them to a play in team if everything goes well with their potential and everything and markelle foltz terrence ross. And they're big is in company all fall asleep but there's going to be hard with his magic team you know. They're real young really experience and everything just getting their feet wet so it might take a couple of years but this team could have some really good development going forward the move on here to thursday's games we had San antonio san antonio versus charlotte trae. Jones went off with a thirty two points. Nine assists and eight rebounds for san antonio twelve twenty from the field wanted three three point range and knocked down all nine of his free throws james bowdoin with a twenty three points. Eight assists and four rebounds. He had lebanon twenty-three tonight from the field and wonder four from three point. Rates overall San antonio Was able to walk away with this one. One zero six to five Over these two guys Jones light enough for san antonio right now and san antonio's a boy right now where i feel like they need to rebuild obviously losing the marlboros and then last year he traded away lamarcus aldridge. So two of your key pieces that he thought were going to be with you. Guys are now either our league or a different team but going forward. Here i think james bo night will be great for charlotte and then with trade jones and san antonio antonio is going to have a long way until they're back to where we're used to seeing them be but overall fantastic game by trade jones dropping thirty two points in some leagues definitely gonna raise some eyebrows and get an nba contract the next up. We have the next on thursday. You had Philadelphia versus atlanta tires maxi went off with thirty one points. Six rebounds five assists twenty three from the field One of eight from three point range at eight eight eight of eight from the free throw line and then a with jaylen johnson and he's scored thirteen points grabbing eleven boards Gave up two assists and Trout the ball decently while six thirteen from the field. One three from three point range But with this one The seventy sixers ray of the pull away ninety six to eighty eight in overtime so with that that's all the headlines Have right now from the nba league on the games on friday. You have the timberwolves against.

When i look at the two attitudes got like. I'll give premo this. I don't think there was ever a time. We thought anyone was better than any single game that i watched your so the confidence bar. It's almost like a less less of a scoring mentality. Dion waiters times ten but All right let me get a couple more guys from you. Finish up you have jaylen johnson going twenty four. Most people do not have that. I didn't love what i saw duke. I'm willing to like defer a bit that a it was just a really shitty season. All this stuff is going on at duke. But he just didn't play well man he just didn't look very good and i'm even though i'm not a huge jane. Johnson guy people still seem to have them in the lottery. Go twenty four to houston. I don't i don't get it i. It's often themed around the league. I don't get why people haven't known them lottery. I don't know what the spot is in the lottery like. I don't know where the landing spot is. So it's tough for me to try and navigate like why people still really liked jaylen johnson. And i mean like. I'm sure you've asked around like questions. About jaylen johnson in terms of let's go with Emotional maturity navy in terms of like willingness to fight through adversity. Maybe as a fair way to characterize it right. Yeah that's fair. Like i don't care about the guys being multiple high schools anymore. I don't i just don't because it's kind deal now and you know and i'm not saying that you do either but It's just. I don't know he's kind of the same ship bike. Hey well it'd be one thing if you played well instead all right now. Just getting ready for the pros. But he didn't play well and then it was like ours. You quit because it went so bad and so now as a lottery. Pick on you when you talk about some of the guys that looked a little on the software side of things i mean. He's he's kinda guy even though there's there's this foundation skills and all that size which is reason should able top ten pick the whole season anyway. So he's like basically like with. Scotty barnes couldn't like didn't care defensively is what i think like. He has similar in terms of passing. Ability has similar stuff in terms of body control transition. play offensively. Can't beat anyone off. The dribble like he struggled to beat kofi coburn off the dribble in that illinois game whenever he was matched up with them. Like on the perimeter. So there's no burst. They're in the half court. I don't really buy the jumper all that much. I just don't lackadaisical defensively. I just don't. I don't get it. Don't get why people are really excited about him. Let's go through then real quick. You got kion. Johnson going twenty. I don't think this is just on you. But i mean nick was everywhere from like six seven. Whatever to now if feels like it's not just you but more people are like wait. Where the hell you guys haven't going. And now he's fallen off. Let's stay with with the sec. "When I've been like, kind of doing math on my board in terms of like way, like who could he have there? Cuz I see real life in a real time. I was like voting up for that one, bracing for impact. I know you haven't been as high on him. I figured you probably had him like the mid-teens or so. Yeah, it's about right and wrong. I think he's fine. Like if he goes like number nine to Sacramento who like desperately needs defense, like I would have Franz Wagner probably pretty close to their for their specific. Great fit. Their yeah, yep. So like totally get it you know what I mean? Like I think there are situations where Franz Wagner is high is like you know 9 or so makes sense to me. Yeah. And watching and sort of re-watch me that he feels like one of the more safer place in the draft at 6:10, depends all over the place. Makes great reads. Defensively away from the ball too and recovers, 12.7, rebounds, three assists not eye-popping Masala phone numbers. He didn't struggle versus Scottie Barnes the tournament. And that was kind of one of these story lines of housing work in the NBA. If you can't do a virtual Scottie Barnes, he was very good. Can make plays off the balance of the dribble or two. And if he's cut off, you just skip sit-ups and keeps moving without the ball. He's not one of these guys kind of over dribble or for something that's not there. Knows how to read Defenders out of pick-and-roll. It a lot of those elbow pick-and-rolls throughout the year in the tournament. He feels like the as floor. It says basement like a high-level rotational piece at worst and I hope that people don't let that are ball in the tournament blind due to how much impact of the game throughout the year at home. Yeah, no I think that's absolutely right. I have them lower but I think there is a case. Basically, it's kind of make this work. You know what I mean? Like it. I didn't want to put them there, but I'm comfortable with it at least in a way that I wasn't like wildly comfortable with like I was worried for a second, you and Jaylen Johnson. There is is we were like going through it and I was like, okay now we've talked we had him in the in the teens and I wasn't regardless of how the the year kind of shook out of do. I just didn't show enough for me to include them. I know there's a lot of traffic people wage but valuing pretty highly. There's some NBA teams that are coming around cuz the workouts have been great. There's just too many, too many question marks on his game not even everything else went on for me to to have that high..

"Okay, we're back Matt and I have wanted to talk about this for I feel I feel like we've mentioned it in passing but we finally came up with a good name for it took the Malachi effect. And we know that Malachi Richardson did not necessarily work out. Well in the NBA, but we don't necessarily mean this is a negative when we brought this up, right? We just purely mean this as guys that we think could come relatively off of the radar and become real NBA players that work their way into first-round picks over the course of this next month. Where are we at on this whole process and how the NCAA tournament often creates jobs in effect that results in evaluators overvaluing 1 month of basketball. It's hard because you never want to tune in a one-game and and people tell me sometimes when I home On a gamer to like this guy was for for his last eight from 3. It's like you can't do that. Well, everybody else does like there there's enough traffic picks where guys are taking a little bit too early because they build on a great NCAA tournament and we've already kind of eliminated a big chunk of guys who could benefit from this even if they're like projected first-round picks. We're not getting Jaylen Johnson. We're not going to get PJ Boston turns off Arizona State guys. Like there's a lot of guys that are already off the list from the jump. I don't know this here and there's always somebody I don't know if it's like somebody completely off the radar but maybe a month or so somebody who's in like the forties or fifties who can work their way into maybe the back end of the first round. Okay. So let's let's dive in with some names because I think that there are some interesting ones that really could use the month of March to crash the party of being a first-round pick, right? Who is the first name you want to give cuz I thought your first name was a choice. Interesting one. I don't even know. Why don't you say who my first name was? Cuz I have like three of them on talking about. Okay. So your first name was traymon the tray Matthews first all list in shame. And by the way is a guy that I've had as a former pick previously but has not been quite as good through the middle course of this season and is worth noting because I think.

"Being a team that can get to the final four enlisted Gonzaga. Yeah, like I think that's where I'm at. Like everyone's just going to lose Gonzaga, but I think that they why we even like the great thing about Gonzaga be an awesome job that we if the season gets shut down because of the coronavirus at least we know who's going to win the title, right? It's going to be exact just give them the banner now man shyt the other team owners talked abouts do Chrome. I watch the Coppin State game right before we got on I have concerns. I have some real concerns right now with Duke. I've gotta tell you I am significantly more concerned about Duke than I am about Kentucky like Kentucky. You can see a path to them being really really good. I do not know how Duke can end up being good life. I legitimately think there's a real chance that they can end up being like a 500 team this year. Okay. I'm not that worried. I'm definitely not that word. But I think their pathway is letting Jaylin off like run point and playing DJ Stewart is like the combo guard who is like the quote unquote point guard right? They play Jordan goldwire today. I don't I don't really get it. They tend to I know started Jordan goldwire Joey Baker and Matthew hurt while playing Jaylen Johnson at the 5,000. Yeah, that's a problem. I'm not a problem. They got their asking the best player on the other than Jaylen Johnson, right the best player on the floor and that cop and State game was some dude that they I don't even know what his name was it like 285 lucky. They kept Duncan on them. Yeah. That was good. Well, they had two of them. That's the thing like they had both Anthony Clark and Clayton kid. They're both they're both like look kind of similar when you should know which one is which right but what one of them had sixteen the other one had like eighteen like those two don't know they both the 24 good they were both really good Mackin took had like twenty two and nine. So I think you're talking about Anthony torque. He like washed. He rants Matthew heard a few times and yes, he did. I will say this like dead. Matthew hurt was not a disaster in that game. Like I'm not nearly as worried about Matthew hurt rocking and Eric gagne goatee, then I am about Joey back playing for this Duke team at all. Yeah, it's I just don't understand. So there's a couple of things right? Like I don't understand how they're going to be able to guard at any kind of reasonable level if they don't have. Any kind of Rim protection and you're playing Joey Baker and Matthew hurt, right or you don't have any kind of Rim protection and you're.

"Great on the Jaylen Johnson pick a USA today they had him as a potential cube arcs CB one cornerback one on an NFL team he's a press man corner who can really become quarterback one at an early point is cursed physical play can be a difference maker dealing with wide receivers at the NFL level of being physical he shows the speed to recover when he needs to should be a top target a day two in the bears probably because of the injuries that Danny chronicled were able to get him in lucky to get him at number fifty three one two three three two three seven seven six go to big all in Lombard big Hey gas ratio I did come out of the night of the night I'm walking here that proposition well prepared and I will hold you guys up one there are J. Johns creek I'm not a bear stress out that was that I like to play because you look at all the usual Gavin has read this year the one thing you have great all got all this liberal you certainly wouldn't handle the great job the physicality that guy's a great he he he he was a great coach so the the the the and I'm sure we can really start moving all seven units is still looming large yeah they need to start alters the tackle and a pass on a couple and yet this gap and address it is still there still bear with a graphic for the day the catalog itself a little bit better it is rather the chapel and that's probably picked up soon enough and I'm telling you what are the benefits in your local the cowboys are one bit of data your brother come comes the wealth but we think the gas wells Fargo would tell you want to talk with it as you think it is normal right now at this point they're still trapped inside of the bank we'll tell you okay inspecting the water out of the state and the better paying for that I'm telling you right now this is the only one right now but I'll I'll I'll hang up with them and have a good day big all thanks for the call have a great week stay safe and stay healthy here is the NFL dot com grades on the Chicago Bears draft picks call commit Jaylen Johnson blah blah blah day one grade no pick in complete day to grade B. plus day three grade eight minus overall grade B. plus draft analysis the bears first round pick this year was held by the raiders part of the deal for sack master Khalil Mack if I'm a talented tight end combat who I like more than most that's what this guy writing not me though the pick gives them a server absurd amount of depth is daily chronicle at the position Johnson was good pick later in the second round as well Gibson is an underrated player offered solid value in the fifth val-d'or has many fans across the league ham bright is an intriguing prospect with great upside for a seventh round pick that's NFL dot com and I'll give you more the grades as the show goes on phone lines are just locked and loaded Tyler is in Bartlett he's not take Tyler what's up there we're gonna get the hail BLB click here you know I like I kind of like the the tight end let's just address the first you know you can have sixty tight ends our roster doesn't mean you have one and I think you know what the mistake was gene you know pace understand the top and center stands with the people that work there with Kelsey I need to go live today that a girl for the nights without rapper of the year because Graham is really only a one year guarantee deal I guess the only question I have for you though is would you prefer to maybe jump on Antoine Winfield at forty three and waited to fifty to see it come out with the other or are we gonna try to dress that safety maybe with the Tony Jefferson that's what I think I'm pretty sure you're calm and stay safe stay healthy I think they're gonna try and see who hits the street they'll be some cuts coming maybe a Tony Jefferson who's out there you can get at a very reasonable price they wanted this kid it was obvious they wanted this kid and Matt I'm sure said to Ryan I need a tight end I need a guy who can block and get down the field I want that guy and boy was that kid excited here's Ryan pace's opening statement on his draft process I just really proud of the way we operate you know I think you know collaborations between he wore when I think about is seven players every drafted really every player there is just a clear alignment envision what our coaches and everything guy was selected so so that's always good I think excommunication merger almost our staff is outstanding too does not draft process again I just can't say enough about our I. T. in video departments is those guys stepped up in a huge way really just don't let the past month so the scouts put so much work into this you know we were in the same room basically this year but we're extremely connected through the process I look back on this whole thing and it was such a unique experience to do this with our families it will be something we'll always remember so that was Ryan pace on the process that they went through and then he was asked why take command at forty three yeah you know you're always a big look at supply demand graph you know I think that's what drops your credit Warner is there I think you always you know what position stand out fast and and you know for us I just think when you look at cold and again I you know I I just like I said the same thing about J. one but just the complete package and for him just it's it's hard to find these ideas guys these wives items that are really well rounded in that you know he's an asset in the pass game because of the size in his hands he's one of those guys those are post up and body collision push off on your runs really well for size but it is blocking you know he's just got the frame in the size and temperament the demeanor well I think he's a y'all think you still get a lot better akhir so to find that well rounded Y. tight end well there's not a lot of them so for us to get in where we did a really advantageous for us there you go so they grabbed him at forty three I also really liked couple things one leg have Arlington Heights was driving by his house with bears flags I thought that was really cool there any really cool that all those people came out and got me he's a good football player but it means he's got good character because of your neighbors can't stand you and you're just a jerk they're not packing your street did you watch that Danny V. R. will parade they did and I loved the video and he's getting a call from now he's like yes Sir let's do it let's do it yes Sir I thought it was awesome it's cool just a cool moment what do you think it was great I mean it was great I don't know if it says anything about his character to local boy got trapped by the local team we're in we're in a pandemic when people can't leave their house so they chose to make a parade down the street I don't know necessarily if you can jump from a dizzy that means he's a good person but it was great it was entertaining I love the video of him getting the call from Nagy's out of like Jimmy that Jimmy two times everything you said twice yes great customer record yes yes go let's do it the two towns from good fellas back to the phones three one two three three two three seven seven six Chris is over in Brownsville Chris what's up Sparky I would love to have been longtime listener first.

"Perfect round robin world about blockade for a tight end get off the line of scrimmage the linebacker can you beat the strong separation thank you that's a damn football to do that we need Obama he does look absolutely and you know just just attacked that this is a game that would be fantastic the other sixteen is gonna have to watch somebody so you know it is a skill that he will have to get better at well this was just for the record is I was was his answer on is blocking no I know there's something in my body that I have to work on that not a lot of issues that the work so they are definitely I think sometimes maybe some people over over estimate the blocking the current bill the weakness but others somebody still something that I can work on as a blocker so you did you go yeah by the way the bears last year use the twelve personnel for if we're getting into the weeds here which is too tight ends two receivers one running back they did that thirteen percent of the time which was the third lowest in the league now they're doing that because they didn't have the guys to do it Nagy wants to run that way the eagles in the chiefs his two former teams were in the top five last year with two tight ends playing so you have an opportunity right now right you could have a Grammy commit out there at the same time it should look all out better with Nick Foles at quarterback like that gets X. that's exciting to think about that is in that yeah all right QuickTime outer guys three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred I had a hoax going to the bottom of the hour your calls next and we'll get we'll move on to Jaylen Johnson and also of the bears wide receiver they picked in the fifth round next on the seven twenty WGN at sprint.

"They just went boom boom boom boom boom so it could be an eye you situation. There could go broke from Arizona state but I had them going. Kenneth Murray at linebacker the eagles traditionally do not spend high picks on linebackers. But when you look at what you have to do to win in this league to to be deficient that area at that position right now. It's hard man with all the tight ends and backs in the passing game. If you don't have guys that can run and cover So anyways that's what Kenneth Murray going there Minnesota I figured they go combination of corner receiver. I had him going corner. I with Jaylen Johnson from Utah New England AJ EPA a buck. We talked about this the other day about Belichick wanting to be firm and strong on the edge versus Some of the speed stuff so man this fits perfectly plus you have the connection there. The Iowa Connection Kirk ferrets very close as Bill Belichick. I assume he'd get the strong approval there. with AJ UP NEW ORLEANS THERE IN A best player available scenario. I mean they're they're roster so good right now and they're ready ready to win big. I think they just take the best available play. I don't think there's a glaring need on this roster so I don't take Patrick Queen the linebacker from just a down the road there in In Baton Rouge at lsu. Minnesota t higgins so they get the corner and the receiver. Miami Josh Jones tackle from Houston in that spot right there. We were talking about Isaiah Wilson. I would not be shocked if he was the pick. Right there with the Miami Dolphins at Twenty Six twenty seven Austin Jackson. Another tackle From USC goes to the SEAHAWKS. But you guys both know the Seahawks love trade so I would imagine they probably don't pick here They'll end up trading back. Baltimore Twenty Eight. They need edge rush. Zach bond from From Wisconsin who with worst case scenario sub rusher you put him in third down packages and let them rush. Brennan Tennessee which would be fun to watch him team up with. Aj Brown there Corey Davis we talked about. It's been a little disappointing You get a little more firepower there for Ryan Tannehill Jordan love. I'm sure you've got to that one. I'll let you tee up the question. Whichever way you WanNa go with that one. Go into Green Bay Black Lock The D. tackle from TCU goes to the niners in Kansas City With the choice to get any running back in the draft that they want and I look I have the Andrea Swift is a sixteenth overall player. But I think the depth of the running back class Could push all those guys out of the first round. That's why have Caesar we go to the chiefs there to shore up the interior offensive line. They can come back to run back later. Yeah look obviously I'll go right to. I'll go right to Jordan love with packers at number thirty. I think that's That's really intriguing. I mean you've got. There's there's some similarities there right. You've got this immense arm talents and you've got a guy that's really raw. That is going to have the opportunity. Just like Aaron Rodgers did to sit watch learn and gain some knowledge here from one of the best and and have an opportunity to hone his skills so when when he is called the bond maybe he can come right in just like Aaron Rodgers? Did I I love that. Although I I feel like somebody might jump Jump Up and get your love or thirty but I think it's. It's an interesting thought. There I think is an outstanding thought and I think it's something that brand. Lucas has alluded to Dave talked about the need to find a young quarterback To be ready just in case of a rainy day the date at Air Raja's May decide that he wants to retire or injury or anything forces them out the game. You don't WanNa have to go to the grocery store when you're hungry you kind of want to go when you're already satisfied so you can make a good pick. Jordan love if he's in range it makes sense to take him now and even if it takes two or three years before he gets his opportunity. What better place to go to sit behind? A great quarterback learn how he studies goes about the process. And then you better ready to go play when you have your opportunity you think about what fifteen plus years. Brett farve fifteen plus news Aaron Rodgers fifty. This one I mean. It's really unprecedented. Guess the only thing I could compare it to. Unfortunately Andrew lucked career was was drawn a little bit short there but man they. The colts had a nice little run there when they went back to back with. Peyton and his long run and then and then luck one. I thought I mean that just makes so much sense. I Mean Zach. Bond feels like a really good raven like especially at that spot at twenty eight with the with the rushers just to kind of keep refilling their cabinet keep refilling their pantry with those front seven players that they seem to do every single year even though they got guys that go on you know like Various Smith the green bay and then Jude on picks up the slack. While he's a franchise player this year. Now you go in maybe get the next Guy Zach ball and that makes sense to me as well. It's it's it's what Baltimore is done. And that's why they have so many picks every year because they have guys and they just keep restocking shelves and then they let him leave and they get even more picks. It's just like this wheel. That JUST KEEPS SPINNING AND SPINNING. And they keep getting more opportunities with more picks But in terms of mock drafts by the way I should say mock draft live every Tuesday on NFL network. That's nine eastern so Tuesday tonight as we're recording this on Tuesday morning you'll have the first episode that will and then we'll be going the next few weeks as well on Tuesdays at nine eastern. I think you up. Next is your mock draft next week. Yeah Ma Jeff. I don't even know what version it is but I have to come up with some stuff to throw in there. Switch it up on all right anything else. You want to add before we before we roll out of here. What's going on with Joe Borough three sixty? Yeah that's coming up that's That's coming out This week that will be released April ninth on Thursday And it's it's really good. If you enjoyed the Justin Herbert episode. This one is going to be fantastic. We talk so many different teammates of Joe Borough talking to his dad was a long time defensive coordinator at the college level. Get a chance to visit his brother. we a chance to talk to a lot of people that know him. Well Buck we talked to urban Meyer So going back to the Ohio state you talk to. Ohio state teammates about Joe Borough. So we do a deep dive on Joe Borough that you're going to get next week. Yeah deep dive. You can't understand what makes them tick and why he's been Such a such a really good player for lsu overcoming adversity but also having the right stuff on the inside the competitive nature that has enabled him to be qb one. The ultimate qb wanted to twenty twenty class. And then we've got a episode on to a Tunga by low is going to come up the following week. It's the following Thursday April sixteenth. Thank you mark April Sixteenth? You can find the two episodes so Be on the lookout for that. By the way path to the draft is back. It was great to be back together with you guys a lot of fun yesterday with our first episode. We're.

"P. at so depending on the service Jaylen Johnson is between ten and fifteen Jaylen Johnson is the kid who along with his brother a couple of years ago moved from sun prairie to the north shore so that they could play high school basketball that Nicolay J. unlike a lot of really really talented players announced at the start of this school year that he was going to transfer and go play at a prep school lots of really good players do this there is two three four of the schools that they can to get the very very best high school players in the country what they have to offer are generally fairly strong academics and way better coaching that you see at most high schools and because their academies they generally don't have to follow a lot of the NIT picky rules that exist that regular old school regular old you know high schools for example they can spend a lot more time concentrating and working on their basketball and because they're often schools in which the kids living on that live on the campus they take it away from a lot of the distractions that we all know that kids can happen so what anyway there's a few of these prep programs around the United States where you see a player will transfer over there from high school to play there often usually in his senior year and Johnson announced that he was going to go to IMG which is one of the best knowledge which was a tremendous bloated Nicolay because they thought they were going to have the best high school senior in the state of Wisconsin and one of the best in the country and suddenly he announces that he's going to go somewhere else and the Nicolay team during the time that Johnson and his brother and a couple of other really good players has been extremely good the last few years but then he announced that he was going to transfer several weeks ago Johnson announced that he was leaving I am G. and wanted to come back to Wisconsin he in fact never played at the prep school he went there but he was never on the team there is about a real explanation of what happened here was the home sick did he not see eye to eye with the coach was their grades Donald but anybody who's ever dealt with kids is aware that a seventeen year old kid might want to come back and be close to home but who knows if the parents wanted to become who I don't know but he decided that he was going to come back to Nicolay he applied for to the W. Y. A. for being able to be eligible to return to the basketball team I've often criticize the W. I. A. A. for being get picky about their rules in this case the NIT picking this meant that they had to let him play because there's nothing in the rules it says that he can't play he didn't transfer to another school in the state and in fact he never played anywhere else so according to the rules given the fact that he has a properly enrolled student at Nicolet high school and he didn't transfer and play for play sports anywhere else he's eligible to play at Nicolay and suddenly Nikolai has one of the best players in America in addition to that Jaylen brother Colby Johnson is still on the team along with the talented kid named James Graham cynical a has a spectacular roster to the point that they just ran through ad that Nadia waited a really good team Friday night the question and again I'm trying to present this without giving you my opinion one way or another is should Johnson be allowed to play basketball at Nicolet it's being debated among high school coaches and it's being debated among fans that I know some friends who have been debated it I'll present again both sides is fairly as I can without trying to tip off my position which side you want me to get first decided he shouldn't play on the side that he should you're just going to say whatever side you're right you want me to go first thought okay pulses up which is that the side that says should first all right for people who say rules are rules the rules are clear he gets to play there's nothing in the rules it says I kid who goes to one school to another camp play sports at the new school that he goes to as long as he didn't play sports at the other school for example let's imagine a kid is it Brooke feel centrally sides that he wants to play for Pewaukee if he played the first seven games to Brookfield central he can't have the same season paper Pewaukee that's against the rules in the state of Wisconsin but Johnson didn't have that he never played for anybody else and he didn't play at I. N. G. now if you had played at IMG which is out of state that might have been I don't know what the rules are stated about that but he didn't play their it's no different than if a kid lives in Green Bay has that gets transferred to come work say what's one of the banks to Green Bay they transcend about walking the family moved down here during the middle of the school you go to the new school that kind of thing happens all the time kids end up going from one school district to another in the middle of the year in sports you can't transfer within the same season from one school to another ad after your first two years of Wisconsin you can't leave a school to go to another but Johnson has bad at Nicolay and he played it Nicolay prior to going down to Florida so if you follow believe the rules everything the rules says he's allowed to play a further argument in favor of allowing him to play if you came back from a school in Florida and suppose he's really going to play and the trumpet and he wants to be a high school band the transfer in the middle of the year they'll let you play in the band if you want to try out for the school play this spring they bottom trial for the school play it interesting what would be a cheerleader that also was a TM suppose a really good kid at cheering or whatever I don't know a good example because it might be one that schools would handle differently can I try I just transferred in can I be on the chilly well it's too late but I'm really good I guess they have to decide that the next argument for allowing him to play for heaven's sakes with the taxpayers of the state of Wisconsin put a fortune into the public schools that we do it for the opportunity to give kids the opportunity to excel his kids a great high school basketball player he's attended high school in the state of Wisconsin why are we gonna tell of the can't do the thing that he wants to do anymore so that we wouldn't allow him to get to take history class or we wouldn't allow him to take driver's education are we wouldn't allowed to do anything else I didn't mention this is the introduction of the story but I. Johnson does he has committed to Duke and we'll be playing college basketball for Duke next year so that's the argument in favor of it the argument against it it shouldn't be looked upon as bad and or the school play or something like that because the band I mean there are bad competitions but the bed is it really a competitive thing and which you know Grafton's band is competing against Nicolaisen bad end of the school play it's all the kids that are in the play themselves in the school tried to put on a performance that I tried to be a different schools play this is a competitive sport and allow a kid to just plug himself into a community of the middle of the year does the fact the competitive balance further bar he somebody who chose to leave the team but chose to leave the school okay he changed his mind there should be a consequence for deciding to lead the team in the first place for example you could say how far do you take this let's suppose he transferred in November came back to make a late December does he get to come back at the team it's ridiculous January comes back in February but if you decide fifteen different tied to go from one school to another keeps it rolling to different schools did you get to play on the team that he if he what do you do the team members the school that he keeps coming back to you then there's the whole argument about well we claim nobody's recruiting everybody knows in high school sports in Wisconsin kids I recruited right now why are all these kids going to play at Nicolay they want to play for the coach whose last name is now escaping out hats there are other schools around the state where if you're a really talented player often your family will either move or you use open enrollment to go play at the other school happens all the time with the private schools private school kid a kid might play per se pious and lives no where near Wauwatosa or I play for Catholic memorial and walk a shot up but could be from you know west Dallas that happens all the time with regard to public schools we do have open enrollment you can go to the school of your choice or you could simply bowl because that's the place that you want to go I familiar specifically with a kid who moved from S. Robert on the car to be able to play for the coach there he's a sophomore he already has a division one scholarship offer from West Virginia not wrong with that mom and dad want to move from one city to another because they think it is the best opportunity for academic success athletic success or whatever well do it but we are getting super teams here in the state of Wisconsin we're seeing St Catherine's is a division for high school they might have the second or third best team in the entire state of Wisconsin this year kids go to the school because it's a great school which I think happens is and the coach is a good coach is this something that we want to encourage or not anyway that's the argument and I think I presented fairly on both sides don't you so what side do you watch the could be able to play for Nicoletta not Paul says rules are rules are the rules he rules say is it rolled student ID didn't play anywhere else that means you can play if he had played elsewhere and it's not a state I'm told it would have been a gray area he had played in the state if you for example well he he back he would not have been allowed to play with in the state because once you pass your sophomore year you can't switch schools for the purposes of sports they do make some exceptions if your family is geographically move but even those are hard to pull off so you sound like you say this begrudgingly rules are rules you know my answer and rules are rules that the rule is stupid you don't follow the rule you do the right thing you say this grudgingly apparently posso somewhat but you're after all these years a report I grafting you're feeling sorry for them losing by fifty five points or something four Cedarburg your position be completely different of different on this whole issue anyway for those of you wondering I believe that Nicolay is in division two Sussex Hamilton which has a spectacular junior and high school ranked in the top five in America Patrick Baldwin junior a division one school so they won't be but it gets in the state tournament but certainly in the division and I believe Nicolaas division to they're not going to be the overwhelming favorite to win the whole thing if they can beat a really good team and grafted by fifty five points hard to imagine somebody else is going to bite into a beat up I'm gonna give you my opinion on this what do you think that's going to occur after the break by forty six news talk eleven thirty W. why it's time for rapid traffic tickets John aware because you might not have elicited the whole segment but were you yes I was do you have an opinion on this I think it's fine that he plays in it well I think it's five or you would allow it lets a bad guy with a lot you would allow it you think it's a good thing it was a toss to Ischia door you know he decides to go off to an academy because he's really good he gets home sector they somebody gets matter his parents just decided Hey we want to close at home after all comes back let him play on the team if he's good enough to be on the team yeah absolutely yeah at the end I should stress your this is not a question of whether Nicolay a lot allowed him or not it's a question of whether or not the state should allow him to be eligible that's what I'm asking not whether or not Nicolay should happen back I would think the Nicolay coach it's not going to let the best player in the sector what the what I'd say one of the two best players in the state of Wisconsin bothered make better the junior art to play on the team if the kid was like barely is a bench warmer I don't know what to call what the school would necessarily said maybe they would have said Hey I left you make your own bad but he's not he's a he's a superstar but the question I'm asking is not the internal question about what schools should do but the larger question of whether or not he should be allowed by the state of Wisconsin's governing body to be able to play it as they say there are arguments the people are pretty passionate about I both sides of this so I'll give you my take on this we come back forty three north.

"One thing well encryption ingrain football and that is passed it Washington state cougar offense among the statistical leaders to nearly every pac twelve a national category but a when it comes to apple Cup over the last six years man they have struggled mightily against the Washington the fence the main issue to he is news certainly one of the keys against the pass happy one suit collapsing the pocket will be job one for dogs defensive lineman today like Levi owns the re K. S. for sugar level you know they got a good online so I mean we had a list of pocket whether we have to record for us to five or six we don't think of them as a running team but Borki how tough is he to bring down and just spot him fire is a good player he does what he does a play with all of these two years now great player very shifty so that's in the the manta stately violence to regain the middle of that husky defensive line you go back to Danny Shelton they're great games Jaylen Johnson take your pick somebody has been collapsing that pocket Keith Gilbertson I still think of that rag doll move it vis to fair had on was too offensive lineman just tossing him back in the loop fall Kerr Gardner Menchu remains this on an auto that's how you beat this team well that's a well we've had a string of guys to watch rush to pass around here that I've been a remarkable using the mention all those names posted to remark when they gave you building to rush three and drop bait and then you think about this for the last few years behind them there was only about six or seven first round and so the rush was prolific in the coverage is really good no windows to throw him a really tight because I don't want to underestimate either the play of the athletic linebacker and what it means in this game is there's really do.

"And the Wildcats or in the CD W. rates on CD W. people who get it so a result is just trying to get the scoreboard here with three twenty seven to play down thirty five nothing first and goal at the ten from the left hash mark can help gives it to Telford starts left hand turn white down at the eleven loss of one see your own a loan sophomore linebacker transfer from Stanford made the play previous play person lined up on the left side on the street Utah doesn't play a lot of zone coverage particularly to deep so they did on that in the corner average with the quarterback really nice job of spotting the mistake in changing to throw the ball is right in saying that out there to the left for the big game second goal of the eleven now has one on his right hip see the split one of the right right now all right certainly and sold in complete over the head of the hill Lewis was defending Lewis is a nice nice series here there's been some completed passes by Arizona but not on Louis he's been stuck like flypaper on every receiver Louis opened the season as a starting corner long side Jaylen Johnson but lost that position to Josh nervous about midway through still a valuable member rotates in the secondary as we've seen but seeing a lot more with the Jews here on the street gold from the eleventh turning him in motion right to left in Ellen the gun while it was right in L. looking left throws that way slant is caught by Peterson inside the tomb at the seven gain of five Davis on the tackle when it's fourth and goal we'll show in a lot of confidence in sticking that swim in against to slant rose by Peterson both of which were tightly covered that's really a good omen for young quarterback because.
