"Okay, we're back. Let's dive deep. So Jay Wright retired yesterday. He did. Did you hear that? Yeah, did you hear? Have you heard that? Do you follow any college basketball analysts on social media? Sure, they have an opinion or two to share with us. But yeah, Jay Wright did retire. He did. Yeah, so like I had not heard anything about Jay Wright potentially retiring up until, I don't know, two hours before he announced it. You know what I mean? Like, I hadn't even really heard rumblings that this was a consideration. Had you even heard anything like that? There are points. There were about a week or two ago that started to be rumblings, but I didn't even let it register. Because not that it seems absurd, but normally you get it from one or two places like, okay, but it wasn't like overwhelmingly loud. They were kind of some breadcrumbs. He left that the final four and some meetings and I think out of finkelstein said it. We had an event last weekend. He was on the road. It was like another assistant. But I still didn't like take that part of it and put that together and say, oh man, maybe this is like actually a thing. There's a lot of coaches that didn't go out and recruit last weekend. And then the timing of it, the banquet I think is tonight, which is unreal. Like that should be a documentary in and of itself. But then when you actually see it, go across the ticker, I was at a bar, sorry. Eating dinner, but watching the Celtics game last night and my phone started buzzing and said, Jay Wright retired. I'm like, oh man, here we go. This is going to take away the whole first quarter as I just dive into all the reactions and instant reactions from everyone else. Were you out with our mutual friend that we were together? I was not. That would be something like step across the table now. I was not. That would be absolutely amazing on a number of levels were just like sitting there like you're across the table from our Friends. I think it's happening. Not less. What's happening? So yeah, I was surprised by this..

"I like him. And I think everybody does. And the sport is, yes, like you said, it'll be fine. But he was supposed to be the face and voice of this sport for maybe the next decade. And now somebody else is going to have to fill that voice. We are going to have to, we got to re ask the clan to coach his question, Shire, Hubert, we got to re ask that this year. We got asked this question again. It was going to be the face and voice of the sport. Tony, Tony was number two. Who was number two? ISO? Tom izzo was number two at 20%. Tony was in there. I don't know where. But the circle back to what we were talking about earlier, if you would have said, Hall of Fame coach that just abruptly retires because he's just tired of it. I would have probably said Tom is a. Because as I'm sure you know, all of these changes in God basketball. I can just see Thomas, I can see Thomas are going for ten more years, but I can also see him one day being like, that's it. Yes, I could see that. Like if max Christie entered the transfer portal. Hey, he just, I need a GP. I was right. He'd just be like, you know what? I've had enough. This is outrageous. There was reporting that, you know, at least part of this thing that pushed Roy over the edge was walker Kessler going into transport. And he's like, you know what? I've had enough of this. But you know what? Roy's got to be sitting at home being like, I was wrong. Because walker Kessler did himself well there. That's part of it as well. The store on our news are up there that detail. It is a combination of it's not that Jerry's not anti transfer portal. He's not anti NIL. It's all of this stuff. And what it means to be an elite level power conference coach in 2022, everything that comes with it can wear on you. We've been doing it. J ra has been doing this, been a head coach for well over two decades, 21 alone at Villanova and hofstra before that. That's also a major factor with all this. A couple of things for you before we get out of here. One, K and write retire within a few weeks of each other in very different ways. They do have somewhat similar trajectories somewhat. You know, Jay Wright has spoken about how both at hofstra and then early days at Villanova didn't think he was going to last. Same thing with K for three years at duke, thought he was going to get fired, AD wouldn't fire him, then it all changes and then look what happens to Jay Wright, which is a lesson to be learned. It won't be learned, but it is a lesson to be learned for athletic directors at power conference schools. You hire a guy, it doesn't go right in year one, maybe not year two. Maybe not even year three. Doesn't mean you got the right guy, but you might not have gotten the wrong guy. Jay right when he started was 5th tied for third and 11th at Villanova, never won more than 20 games in his fourth season. He got to 24 and 8, took him to the sweet 16, and that commenced a run where he went sweet 16 elite 8, first round, sweet 16 final four, second round, first round. And then we got into that cycle, where Villanova was good enough to get to the tournament, but wasn't breaking through. And then that promptly got obliterated with Chris Jenkins shot, which takes me to my next point. Jay Wright has the greatest coaching non celebration in history of American sports. It's terrific. I've watched it like 5 times tonight. It's just, it's just amazing. I don't even need to, we're not going to queue it up here on the pod feed or anything like that on the video on YouTube. But you can already see it in your mind. It's just an all and my favorite, you know, my favorite part is I bet you know my favorite part of that thing. What is it? Bang? No, my favorite part is Tracy Wilson behind as the camera. Oh yeah, yeah, I know trace. I saw her tonight. Yes. She's got this amazing reaction. It's just diametrically opposing reactions. It's very, very cool. Question for you. Should we have seen this coming when Jay Wright continuously and repeatedly said, I'm not going back to suits. Was his refusal to be the sartorial champion in all of college sports? Was that where we blind to it perish? Should we have seen this coming? Did the media collectively fail the American public by not putting two and two together? Perhaps it was the first step towards retirement. I don't want to wear suits anymore. So I'm not going to, and then I was like. Maybe there's a little bit of that? Maybe a little? I think we're stretching, but let's have fun with it and stretch. Forever. Part of being a college basketball coach, part of the job was putting on a nice suit to work. And then this dump pandemic dumbest one of my lifetime comes along and it becomes normal wise to not wear suits. And then he just decides, you know what? I got used to not having to put a suit on. And I kinda like it. I'm not gonna do it anymore. And that's one step into retirement. How many people retire and suddenly they've been putting on suits their whole life and they never have to put on a suit again. Jay Wright was in a profession where he got to take the suit off, but still work. And he said, you know what? I'm enjoying not putting that suit on so much. How much more would I enjoy not doing the rest of this stuff? Let's find out. I'm retired. Ah, maybe there's something to it. Maybe. I think Jay Wright. And one thing, can you touch on this?.

"Pet chambers was an assistant at the time. And it was just, I don't know. I just remember that night fondly and being around him outside of a basketball Reno or Jim. And just really enjoying every conversation and just the whole vibe of the place. And I've never, I've never had anything other than great experiences with Jay. The story you're mentioning is we were out in Vegas for grassroots stuff. I'll try to give the quick version. Circa 2008 ish? I don't know. It was a long time ago. I think it predates us even knowing each other just so we're clear. Yeah, and so we were my wife was out. She came out with me. And we went to dinner and I believe with Dana O'Neill. In fact, I'm certain it was with danone. And we weren't having dinner with Jay, but we were in the same restaurant as Jay. And it was at the palms hotel, I believe. And as we were walking by, we see Jay and Dana used to be as beat riders. So they have a really close relationship. And so we stopped to talk to Jay. And while we're talking to Jay, somebody who works at the palms comes over, like, you know, in a suit, that type of person. And happened to be, if I remember correctly, a Villanova graduate who's now like, you know, one of the higher ups at the palms. And they got the Playboy club there, and this is when the palms was hot and the Playboy club was hot. I'm not suggesting that it's not anymore. I just remember it was then. And guys like, hey, coach right in big fan. I'm doing over grad. You know, we got the Playboy club upstairs, that really love for you to come up and see it. And Jay, he's like, oh, that's really nice, but you know, I don't know if I'm gonna be able to do that tonight, you know, I appreciate the invitation though. He's like, oh, coach, it means a lot if you came up, and it became very clear two things. Jay didn't really want to do this, but he also didn't want to not do it. Because this guy was asking him to. And it was a Villanova grant. So he was like, sort of on the low, like, do you guys want to go to this Playboy club? And like, yeah, listen, if you got to go, we will go and so let's make that happen. And this is when I was in I was going through a flip flop stage in my life. That stage only ended, I think, last December. It ended about the time yeast became a real thing. I went straight from flip flops to yeezys. And so it's like, all right, let's go. Let's walk upstairs. So it's me and my wife, Dana, Jay Wright, maybe some other person, but maybe not. And like we're going to the club. And I get upstairs, and it's like, yeah, you got flip flops on. You can't come into the club and flip flops. Nerd. And I'm like, all right. That makes sense. I guess I'll go get some shoes. And so we were staying on the other end of Las Vegas. I don't remember where, but it was like, you know, you got to get in a cab. It wasn't just walkable. And I said, all right, I guess I'll go get some shoes and come back as a Kelly, you want to go with me and she's like, yeah, and Jay's like, just stay here, it's fine. Gary, you just meet us back here when you get back here. I said, all right. So I turned to so they went into the club. I turned around, went downstairs to get into a cab and as I was taking my cab ride from the palms back to my hotel, I was like, I just left my wife with Jay Wright at the club. Yeah, he did. This is probably over for me. You know? Jay Wright and Joe write. It was just trouble. This is probably it for me. Like, what kind of idiot wife with Jay Wright, not to imply that Jay Wright would do anything inappropriate, but like, he's tall, great looking, incredibly successful. Like he's everything I'm not, you know? I just left my wife with somebody who's everything that I'm not. And so I went and got my shoes. Certain that by the time I got back, my wife would realize there's more out there, you know? There's just more out there. There's more of them than there are of you. The problem. That's what I thought she would realize for sure. There's more of them and they're horrible you. And so I was like, you know, I went and got my shoes and I was like, well, you know, this is it. I've made a cardinal sim. I let my wife be around Jay Ryan and she's gonna see how nice he is and smart he is and successful and all that stuff. And then she gonna look at me and be like, why am I with you when there are people like Jay Wright in this world? I was wrong. So I was going through that. Over and over again. It turns out I just got to the club and we just had a good time. Nothing crazy. And then we did shots off the waitresses, nothing. We sit there, we had a few drinks, and it was a good time. My point is this. My wife at the time had no context for who Jay Wright was. Yeah. But every time. Yeah, like she doesn't know. But randomly throughout every season over the past, however many years. She'll walk by the TV in a game will be honest. She'll be like, oh, there's Jay. He's such a nice guy. Oh, that's Jay. How's his team this season? I'm like, they're good. They're always good. They're really good. And even this past year, when he made the final four, like the one comment, my wife had on the whole deal, wasn't like, isn't it cool? He's in the final four and his final year, or oh, you're looking forward to this duke North Carolina thing. She was like, I'm glad Jay's back in the final four. He deserves that. So I don't know..

"Your podcasts. 2018, Villanova wins the title. At that point, when the team wins, there's all sorts of stuff that you gotta do and media wise and all this stuff. And I can't remember why it broke down this way, but Jay Wright had done his postgame press conference. Locker rooms were open at this point. And so there's this huge throng, I think he won the title, maybe won the semifinal. I think it was the title though. And we're in San Antonio. And so there's this huge throng, like the locker room entrance is here, and then it's a whole long locker room and there's another exit. And I can't remember why I was walking where I was walking, but everyone is over by the entrance to interview the players. And I'm walking this way for whatever reason. And Jay Wright steps out, and it's just Jay Wright. It's just Jay Wright, he's standing there. He looks exhausted. And he leans up against the wall. He doused. He's all, you know, celebratory water bottles, all that kind of stuff. And he's just sitting there, and it's just me and him for about 30 seconds, maybe 20 seconds. No one realizes because he's probably 20 meters away from the throne who aren't facing him. So we're just talking and he says something along the lines of this never gets old. And it doesn't even matter. It doesn't even feel like real to me right now. But man, oh man, I'm so tired. I'm so happy, but so tired. And then I go, it's amazing. This team, I remember saying something like, Jay, this is like one of the all time teams, which I still believe that 20, go look up that 2018 Villanova team. It hasn't been that long. They killed everybody. I think that's one of the three or four best teams in the past 15 years in the sport. And it was funny. I go, they're gonna see you any second now. He goes, I know, I know. Let's just enjoy this. And sure enough, and good morning, America's there. And then everyone sees him and it's just funny to see this whole army of press. They got it. There's the coach. What are we doing? And so I'm standing right next to him as they all huddle around him. And it's really the only time in my career where I've really like, it's literally Jay right against the wall. I'm standing right next to him, and then there's this massive, massive, semicircle of media, three, four, 5 rows deep, and you see all the camera lights. They all flip on. They're all bright, all the microphones are out. The notebooks are out. Everyone's out. And I'm like, man, what must it be like to just kind of go through this experience this? On a semi regular basis there. And he held court as he always does amazingly. So, and I kind of slowly but sure. I had gotten what I needed to get, and I slinked out of there to let him do it. And it was just, I remember him just being like, I'm going to enjoy the fact that for the next 27 seconds, I have quite quiet. I happen to be there. I didn't want to take it was really cool. I remember that scene because it was like you and Jay alone. And then Tony Bennet ran up and push you out of the way. That's right. There we go. Does it feel real to you that he's done? I don't know. I just haven't really. What do you mean? You're acting like does it feel real that my I don't know, does this not have a certain shock value to it where it doesn't feel like it's sunk in yet? Nada? Nada? Yes or no? It hasn't sunk in for me yet. Honestly, it hasn't sunk in. It's wild that it happened. I didn't think we would be doing too. Episodes to emergency episodes a day. I'll put it that way. Like it's surprising, but this isn't the type of thing I need to sink in. You're just ready to yeah, I was just trying to watch a metzger. I just wanted to come home and watch a mets game. I didn't want to do all this other stuff. No, no, in all seriousness. This is the type of thing that I can not believe that Jay Wright retired. It doesn't even seem real. Like for me, that's limited to like, I can't believe Kobe Bryant just died in a helicopter. Like, that's the one that I was like, ill to me. Sometimes it all catch myself. I'll be like, he is not with us, man. That is just insane to me. That's the type of thing that I need to sink in. Coaches retiring or just all right, fair enough. It's surprising. And I'm like, oh, wow. And then it's like, okay, yeah, you think about it, you process it. And now you just hope that he enjoys retirement in whatever form that presents itself. Obviously, if he wants to work in television, forget about it. Are you kidding me? Who would not hire him? Exactly. So if that's something he wants to do, then he'll be able to do it. I'm certain that his choice of a network. And beyond that, I've gotten a J okay. You really have gotten to know my guest. Kind of know Joe Biden. I wasn't aware of his real name is Joe. I had to know Joe, right? Fairly decently over the years. Enough to know, like, you know, I've met his wife and been at his house and that kind of stuff. And. You've been able to see the human side of him, right? I think from a distance, if you're a college basketball fan, you watch him work and he's the good-looking guy who coaches college basketball really, really well. But he's also like a decent man. Far as I had never heard anything to the contrary, and I've never experienced anything in the contrary. I mentioned going to his house and I don't mean to bring that up as some sort of humble brag. You got an even bigger Jay Wright's story. It's up to you if you want to tell it. Did you tell it on the podcast? I think I've told you. Not a learned about it at the final four. But like, you know, I was very new to this job if I remember correct. I didn't know J well back then. And I happened to be covering Penn State football game that weekend and Villanova's like whatever their version of midnight madness was was on that Friday night. And so I was staying in Philly on that Friday night and gonna do Villanova's midnight madness and then drive to Penn State the next day for a football game. And, you know, after the midnight madness things over, Jay is like, hey, you know, a couple of people come over the house, just go to the house, and so it's like Bill raftery and me. And he just like sort of treated me like I was Bill raftery. When he didn't know me the way first off, I'm not Bill raftery. It goes without saying. But he didn't know me like that either. And I just remember like his staff was there..

"Why don't I just enjoy my life? And I guess Jay could have stuck around for another 5 or 7 years and try to win a third national title, or even a fourth that, but at what point do you go? I've done it. I've got two titles. Four final fours. I've been a national coach of the year. I'm in the Hall of Fame. You know, you only spend so many years on this earth. I don't want to do any more years of Zoom calls with 16 year olds. Of phone calls with parents. I want to spend time with my wife spend time with my children and not live that life anymore. Or at least live a slow down life relative to the life I've been living. I get it. I'm surprised by it, but I get it. And it doesn't mean, by the way, because you're going on ten minutes here. You want to keep going? Yep. It doesn't mean that he'll never coach again. I know he doesn't think he'll ever coach again. I don't think he coaches again. I agree with you. I'm just saying, I've heard a lot of people say he's done for good. And I'm like, eh, it's a long list of people. Actors. Musicians, coaches, all sorts of people who retire and then decide, you know what? I'm missing it a little more than I thought I would. I want to get back in it. I don't think that is in Jay Wright's future. I'm just saying, you know, you can never know for sure if this is actually the end, although I know Jay believes it is. And I think that it probably is. Power conference coach texted me 30 minutes ago, hugs is a self beheim who's next. Who's next? If you would have asked me that, like, who will just say, you know what? I've had enough. I thought it would be Tom izzo. I could see how I wrote that. How about this? After Kansas one, I wrote, I'm not predicting what happened. It would not stun me if Bill self decided to walk away from college basketball. I had the wrong coach. I had the wrong, although anything's possible, I guess. If popov, hey, listen, what if Popovich, there's plenty of buzz like that. I don't think about so. Who knows? Who knows? To that point. Yes, two sources reiterated. Jay Wright is you've actually had, I've seen a couple I haven't been able to keep up with the tweet machine. It's been on fire, and I'm trying to do too many things. But I did see our buddy borzello. Share an interview he did with Wright a few years back. Jay Wright's been on the record saying Villanova would be his last coaching job. I dug around on that earlier on Wednesday just to make sure and I had a source reiterate that to me. He said after he did the Olympic thing, I'm going to paraphrase because I don't have the court up exactly in front of me now, but he was basically like, he has said there is no shot. He has no desire, could not possibly coach those players for 82 games in a season. Jay Wright does not want to coach in the NBA. So keep that in mind. I also have, I just want to at least address this because I've seen it. I've seen it people have mentioned me, and I don't know if it was in the chat here or not. People are wondering, he's 60. It's Jay right okay. I mean, I can't, I'm not his doctor, but I have been given no indication that any of this decision whatsoever is health related. It is, it is mental and physical health related. Again, there's some burnout here. And I mentioned this anecdote on headquarters, but when I went and saw Villanova play Providence in the middle of the season, after that game, I was talking with Jay Wright, both on and off the record. About a number of things, and I remember walking away from that conversation thinking, I can't remember the last time Jay Wright was like, that long winded and animated about that many things. Not as long witness as me. No, no, no, he's got nothing on you. Nothing on you. And so it makes more sense now. That he's done this in the moment, I didn't take it to mean anything too too. But I remember thinking after we talked about what we talked about, thinking, Shay Wright's got stuff to say, and man, I wish you'd say some of that stuff on the record. But I completely if you told me now that Jay Wright knew that night that this was his last season after, again, I can't, you know, some of the self record after respect that. But I would completely believe that he had made the decision by that point. Completely. I didn't think it in my mind, but now having this as hindsight, I do think that that is certainly possible there. And to your point before parish, let's champion this decision, okay? There's nothing wrong with people if they choose to want to work into their 70s. If Jim behaim wants to coach until he's 94 years old, more power to you, we should embrace this. If you want to have a normal lifestyle, normalize retiring at 60 years old if you have the means and desire to do so. And I think that most people will do this with Jay Wright. I got to also perish as all this has been whirlwind around for the past few hours. This hasn't even sunk in in for me. Like Jerry, it's not coaching at Villanova anymore. He's not going to be part of the sport and the way that he has been. It's kind of weird actually. We had the farewell tour. We built up to it. I get it. The shock of Roy Williams was there, but there was always for like 5 or 6 years. There was like, we're always going to retire. One of these years, he's going to retire one of these years, and he finally does. Jay Wright, man, this is a ding, it is. Like, especially going to be fine. It's going to go on, but it isn't new era. Undeniably. Okay, no Roy, no right. You ready for this? 6 of the 12 most recent national championships are those men. O 9 is Roy, you can go back to O 5, but then the girls get smart. Ten and 15 are K, 16 is right, 17 is Roy 18 is right. And even in years when they didn't win the title, they also made the final four. It's weird, man. The only trivia time in ten seconds or less? Okay, let's go. Only current active head coaches in the sport with multiple national titles. Who are they? Bill self and Rick Pitino. Oh, that's a bingo right there. Bill self and Rick Pitino are the only active coaches now. With multiple national titles, obviously Hall of Fame coaches. And to me, it's just, I think like 5, ten years down the road, even longer, like there's gonna be a lot written podcasted said, maybe, you know, whatever documentary forms and any kind of mediums are there in 2035 about this 2022 final four. The duke Carolina angle, Kansas, and whatever happens with this program and self career from here on out, the fact that it was Villanova with Jay Wright and the final run for him. The idea that we were all sitting there watching the end of two Hall of Fame careers is amazing to me. And yes, you mentioned, I'm glad you brought this up before. Another thing, like Jay Wright retires, I haven't really thought about this. I don't know if he's a top ten all time men's college basketball coach. He's in the conversation for top 15 undeniably, but the thing that he'll have, he's the coach of the 2010s. That's his decade. Multiple national championships, Villanova wins 7 out of 9 regular season titles in the big east. Villanova.

"It was like a few former players, maybe even a guy or two that's in the NBA, started to really know the deal. And some conversation outside the walls of that facility started to kind of get out. Jay Wright was trying to get this message across to the players that were being recruited to come into the coming to the program. And he accurately sensed that this might actually wind up breaking in a way where he would not be in a position to be able to meet with his team in a quick fashion and tell them the news. So he called a team meeting and at that point, I was told by a source, there's an impromptu meeting that's going to happen here. And who's to say, like, Jay Wright maintains the option for all we know Jay Wright wakes up Wednesday morning, thinking he's going to retire, but then has a conversation with Patti's wife and it's like, you know what? I'm Jay right damn it. I'm going to go one more year. So there was always that possibility until he literally told it to the people in the program. And then here we are. It was reported. That he was seriously considering retirement, which was true at the time. And now he is actually retired. He has done. He is leaving behind a massive legacy. This is humongous. It is stunning news for sure. But credit to Jay Wright for keeping it quiet as long as he did. Obviously a private decision. I think that he, I personally believe that he arrived at this decision. A number of weeks ago, and it was just a matter of finding internal closure and then making sure every single box GP every single box that he needed to have checked, leaving the program and the standing that he wanted to leave it to was indeed checked. That's exactly what happened. I got plenty more thoughts, but I'm going to shut up and let you talk now. Well, first some bullet point things on Jay Wright, just so people understand how accomplished this man was in the sport. He's now walking away from relatively speaking at a very young age. This is a sport where people routinely coach into their 70s now. And I think most people thought that Jay probably would. Certainly would have the opportunity and yet he walks away at the age of 60 with his program still operating at the tip top of the sport. This isn't a situation where he lost focus and the program slipped or anything like that. He's just walking away. For reasons, he has explained to some degree in a statement released, but for other reasons, I think we can accurately and appropriately discuss momentarily. Two national titles, 2016, 2018, four final fours, most recent one being earlier this month. Ten conference titles, 7 conference tournament titles, the Naismith memorial Hall of Famer. Two time Naismith national coach of the year, 6 time big east coach of the year, two time America east coach of the year, AP coach of the decade for the 2010s. In the past 9 seasons, 7 big east regular season titles, 6 of them outright, and in the two years he didn't win it, at least a share of it. He finished second. And in that stretch, also 5 biggies tournament titles. He's won 20 NCAA tournament games since 2016. That's more than any of the coach, more than any other program. This is an all time great. I heard you say that on CBS sports headquarters and he undeniably is and one of the points I made on headquarters is that there's a lot of guys who have accomplished a lot of stuff in this sport. They're not all respected by their colleagues. They're not all liked by their colleagues. But I can genuinely tell you, I don't think I've ever had a coach even private privately to me. Say something negative about Jay Wright. And I went and looked this.

"His retirement after 21 seasons at Villanova. He'll reportedly be replaced by former assistant current fordham coach Kyle Neptune, so let's start with the obvious question people are asking, what exactly does this mean? For the future of fordham basketball. I knew you'd go there, man. We gonna leave before them. Leave it to rams? We'll start moving 27 then. We'll start with fordham. We'll get a word from our sponsors. Hopefully it'll be that news showtime series. And then we'll get to Villanova. No, serious question. Why? Why is Jay Wright? In a sport where men routinely coach into their 70s, retiring at the age of 60 after a trip to the final four and with a preseason top 20 team set to return. We really just covered a final four were two Hall of Fame coaches coached the last game and nobody knew about it. I don't even know if in his heart of hearts Jay Wright really, really knew that he was done, but he was getting close there. So, all right, let me take you a walk through. Since we last podcasted, I won't get too into the behind the scenes details on this stuff because I can't. But there's a few things I guess I can share. So we podcasted and then I got a call. I got a call from someone who I just couldn't believe they were calling and telling me this. They're like, you might want to check in. I want to check in on Jay right right now. So whatever, then that was an afternoon. And I came to learn, let me guess who it was they called you. You will not be able to guess. You can guess every name on the right. You won't be able to guess it. I guarantee you won't be able to guess the name. Okay. First guess. Yeah. Ryan RTD. Son of a pain. Oh, I think just got engaged. I think you just got engaged. Second guess, Ryan RTD okano's fiance. You're getting closer. So you can obviously see if you're watching on YouTube, do smash the like button. You can see Jay Wright. He just before we went live here on Wednesday night, he publicly announced his retirement confirming what was I reported in everyone else. So anyway, here's what I was told. Okay, middle of the season, Jay Wright starts considering that this is going to be privately. He's like, is this this might actually be my last hurrah? But very, very few people know that this is going to be the case. Then I'm told by the time we get to mid march within the program and you got to realize and Villanova fancy realized this meeting people listening, coaches listening, they realize it's Villanova's considered like Fort Knox in that stuff just doesn't really leak from there. Tell it to Ryan RTD Ocado's fiance. That's right. And you know, Villanova for his amazing of a program, like they get it like the players, they're good interviews, but they're not going to give up, they're just, you know, they're, you know, they're robotic in nature sometimes. And I say this, beloved, but that's just a reputation. If J Roy has built an amazing culture, but within that, you know, the walls are up. So by mid March, I was told today, you know, within the not the players. The active players did not know this. A couple of people in the Villanova family started to get the sense that maybe Jay was considering that this was actually going to be it. And then season ends, I was told, if you really go back and watch after Villanova won the elite 8 game, it wasn't just Justin Moore's injury. You can see Jay was emotional afterward in a way that he seldom is. And so he might have been pretty much all the way there. Certainly there with his with his wife at that point, patty. They had gotten to a place I think where they were pretty comfortable thinking that this was going to be it. Now, the season ends and I don't have the date for you, but he does tell his assistance, right? He tells his assistance and they get informed of this. He could have told him in the middle of the tournament for all I know. I don't have that exact information. But he tells his AD. He tells the school president, and then there's a period for a couple of weeks here where they sources tell me they go to Jay and they say, listen, we don't want you to stop being our coach. Which is obviously, they respect the decision, but it's Jay frigging right. He's 60. You just made a final four. Please don't stop being our coach. And so there's a little bit of back and forth trying to get him to change his mind. And then a process develops where there are two clear candidates for the job. George holke, who's the lead assistant on staff now and Kyle Neptune, who's at fordham former assistant at Villanova, he is going to be the next head coach. He winds up getting the gig. And with their process, there we go. So the player still don't know. Players did not know until shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. It hasn't, as we are recording this podcast. It has not even been two hours since the players and everyone else in the program was actually told by Jay Wright. I am going to retire, Kyle Neptune is going to be your next coach. Oh, by the way, Villanova's end of season team banquet is Thursday night. I am told by one source that this was not necessarily the plan of how this was all supposed to go down. In fact, things just started to rumble a little too much in the past 24 hours.

You'd you'd ever want him to be an everything you'd want a villanovan to be. And he was a big part of filling basketball he brought a lot of great players bill and olga and into philadelphia and he just represents villanova to me. And you've got if you see you see what he did. He donated the martin. Luther king jr. speech to villanova. Do you know the impact that that's going to have He is an amazing man. So have those there with me is is going to be in crawled co traps brand place for him washington up his his coach uses verse signing and he came into house brand logo summarily to house. "The three or three and a four whatever but but magic was the point guard. So you know i. It's just a matter of the team. He went to at that point in time. You know. I think you know as as you said. Just put these guys up there. As the greatest generation of all time and he was in that realm. You know if. I could go down and made a reference to david thompson. Don and i are old enough to remember watching a lot of david thompson and and i saw thought he was the most fascinating basketball player to watch of the late. Seventy mid to late seventies in college especially his basket. His professional crew was pretty good but he got hurt and it didn't pan out as a lot of thought and he had some drug problems as well. I look. I look at landes. Sort of a combination of of a david thompson to julius irving. You had david thompson athleticism. You had julius erving's creativity offensive creativity. Neither neither of whom. I recall having as good a shot as len did but the impact they had as as offensive minded players and david thompson was only six four so but he he had a from what i recall a little bit of a better jumping ability than lend lend had a forty four inch. Vertical leah detail. David thompson's was forty. I think he was forty eight. A recall hearing something like that as well. So thompson didn't have the body that that bias head buy shrimp. Or i don't think he had the intensity that is at so i look at them. Look at thompson in irving then you have bias a combination of those i. I'm just old enough to remember David thompson i think david thompson for me and my lifetime is the greatest college basketball player i've ever watched but it's funny when i go back and watch youtube videos or games like they've got the seventy four. Acc final as it was called by jim. Thacker and packer. You know that whole games available on youtube and it's interesting to watch you know and and match up your memory with the uae. What actually happened thompson was brilliant. There's no doubt he was not a great ball handler. Either and back then. There wasn't a lot of defense played. I think he Don said this when talking about vulcan and what he said len had a mean streak a competitive mean streak that and that was just and was jordan-esque. And i think that's one of the reasons he would've been ultimately combined with the talent and all time great. I remember some of those moments. His last home game against virginia in olden polynice and he took a ball that pollens threw up there and threw it into the fifth row screaming. Gimme that shit as loud as he could And he threw it. And i'll i was right to sort of in that arena that day. I'll never forget that. And here's the one thing that kills me about about biases college career. They never got past the sweet sixteen. You know as a freshman. They got around to thirty two because he hit a buzzer beater against ut chattanooga's a freshman and then obviously. He had the coming out party in the acc. Tournament is a sophomore but they lost to in illinois team that i think they were better than the killer. Game for me is when they lost villanova. Who would go on and win the national championship in eighty five that year on that incredible magical run maryland was better team than villanova bias. Had and i think this is true. I think it was the worst game of his career and they still only lost by a point. I think he ended up like four for seventeen from the floor. You know didn't even reach double figures is a score and they still lost by like a point to you. Know ed. Pinkney dwayne mcclain and harold pressley and gary mclain in that that that villanova team That went on to win the national championship. It just sucks that he never got to profile And get the exposure. He would have had as a college player in the final four. You know the their final loss against unlv. He was brilliant in but they blew like a an eight point. Second half lead and you know a lot of people say well. You know that's lefty. They always had talent and always came up short I love lefty. And i think. Sometimes he's underrated as a coach and overrated as recruiter. That's beyond the point. I wish she had had the tournament success that some of the greatest players in history had i think he'd be i think he would be thought of and ranked much higher as an all time. Great college player if he had had the tournament success. You talk about the When they lost villanovan eighty-five let's talk a little bit more about when they lost. Unlv and you said he had a. He had a strong game there. A recently watched this game and i was actually surprised at how poorly he played in the first half. He was missing shots. He wasn't defending very. What's something seemed wrong. He was just off in the first but the second half on fire and he took that team. He took that team. He tried to bring the team back on his own. The last four or five minutes. I think he scored the last ten or twelve points. So you see you saw sort of what he could do in those last four or five minutes of that game. How dominant player. He could be if he wanted to be. And it's unfortunate. I think donkin even attest to this at sixteen he just didn't have the supporting cast of players to really to really take that vaccine there any further than that correct on that team actually started. I think oh in five or six in the acc right and and really had climbed back. i mean one of the greatest lines that left the ever delivered to me was right before they played the virginia game. That you referenced. The police game I talked to. I talked to dick schultz. Who was the virginia. And who was the Who is the head of the basketball committee the ncaa. And i said this maryland half because they were under five hundred they finished six and eight right in the acc. They were five and eight. I said do. They have to beat virginia to to get you to really get themselves even position to. I don't even know if they talked about the bubble in those days. I don't know i remember. They did i remember. They needed that and they probably needed. That quarterfinal game. Acc tournament where they be carolina again. Line was he said. And i'll turn it. They might best lefties. I asked him. If i said dick schultz said that you guys have to win. And he said who's dick scholtz. What does he know. And i said. Well he's he's ahead of the committee he said well. If we don't get in it'll be the biggest rip bosses louisiana purchase but speaking to that talent you know. He has some good players on that team. You know keep gatlin was a good college plants. He was Derek lewis great. Shot time he was a sophomore and was a very serviceable big man. At six seven one ninety five is still be all time leading shop locker. John johnson who was a freshman. He was a rotation player speedy jones. They had some good players. You know and. I think it goes back to what you said about. Lefty lefty has some great unfortunately for left his best teams were when there was only one course. One came from the acc going to the ncaa tournament and of course. His best teams corresponded with the with. David thompson's you talked about thompson. Tommy burleson was the star that eight of that game. Seventy thirty eight thirty eight points. You know tau was the point. Guard that corresponded. They went one year where nc state couldn't because they were on probation so those those are the teams that if they had gone to the ncaa tournament with mcmillan. And elmore and lucas and moe howard and then brad davis and those players That that's when they could have won a national championship for lefty. Oh yeah no look i think. One of the biggest maryland basketball and the washington football team have been my one one a put them in any order. You want for my entire life in terms of rooting interest. And i think that nothing was a bigger mess for college basketball than not having lefty make it to one final four and what a show that would have been in the week leading up to it at cetera. And you're right. I mean the seventy four team. It was the second best team in the country. And they didn't get to go to the tournament. The seventy-three team that lost nc state in the acc finals but ac but state was on probation. Did make it to the elite eight loss to providence. And then the three guard line up with lucas. Howard and brad davis made it to the elite eight after mcmillan and Elmore graduated and they got blown out by louisville. He you know he was close and then the team that you mentioned. I think you're right. I think dave was indicating it. There were some good players on that team..

"Had one gram of crack cocaine. And you had one hundred grams of powder cocaine. That's one hundred one disparity you got the same mandatory minimum sentence of five years. They reduced that to eighteen to one so get one gram of crack eighteen grams of powder. It's it's it's the same tournament of they also gave judges. Previously judges could did not have any discretion to change the sentence they had to abide by the law. The fair sentencing act allow judges to have some discretionary decision making no like i want to reduce that because this is too severe and also they reduced sentences retroactively to people who were in prison the fair. The step back tried to take a few more steps than that and it's really doesn't have the teeth that the fair sentencing act has done yet. They're still questions about if it's really going to do what it was supposed to do. We need. We need a little more time to see how that plays out. So it's it's a continuous process and there are groups. That are still trying to fight for that. Aren't let's go to len bias and have the basketball discussion which you know to be fair. A lot of people. Listening to this podcast. Specially the maryland people but college basketball fans. In general we have these conversations all the time those of us of a certain age Certainly you know the what if What if don he had lived. What if he had survived that night and lived. How much would it have changed from a basketball standpoint maryland. The celtics him. And what would you know. What kind of player would have become. I'm sure you've thought about this. And had these conversations over the years. What are your thoughts on that. Let me go back to nineteen eighty. Six eighty five eighty six season. That was my first year at the sun covering maryland basketball. I heard of len bias. I didn't i you know. I i knew he was a great player in the acc. I just finished covering the big east in primarily saint. John's and covered. Chris mullin's entire career. And at that point. Chris mullin was the best basketball player. I had covered. You know on a regular basis. And i showed up in college park and i was just. I was just floored by the talent. This guy had. I said you know. Chris mullin a nice player. Obviously a hall of famer. This guy was at a different level. And and i had covered jordan You know a bit covered the olympics in eighty four. I'd covered that my first final four one thousand nine hundred eighty two. I gotten to know michael a little bit over those years Had spent some time down in chapel hill. So i knew who he was being compared to and and as i wrote on the twenty th anniversary of his death i spoke to. I spoke to jam bulk who was a gm of the celtics at the time and we spoke to recently for the for the podcast. Pose the question you know. Would he have been michael jordan's rival and and obviously from his perspective of course but everybody else agreed. Jay bilas was put that piece and and going back to Microsoft's these line about the two best players. He ever coached against at do where michael jordan and and len bias and ralph sampson wasn't even in that conversation and he was. I think Two or three time while. Acc player now. This guy. I mean he if he had gone to the celtics and that was the other thing. How often does the number two pick in the team in the draft. Go to the defending world champions he would have impacted the nba. He wouldn't have had the pressure. That that that michael had to rebuild and save that friend. You know you know. Take take the leadership as a rookie. Your second year player with the bulls because bird was still there. Mikhail was still their parish. Was still there dennis. Johnston danny ainge go down the list. He would have been able to evolve as a superstar and and he would have been that clare. Because i mean he came out of college with a better game a more well rounded offensive game than michael jordan. It's hard to you know for those who have never saw imply. Just just look at you know. Go on youtube and and look at this guy. He had the most picturesque jump. Shot was six foot eight. I said he was six foot eight. David thompson i mean. That's how beautiful his jump shot was s icke was and and and you know one of the things that jan volk said is he played with a little meanness they like that not like the attitude he played he would have been a perfect celtic. And you know he would have started in the role of the six man. That's a big thing in boston. And then he would evolved. John havlicek dave and others into the star of the team and he would have changed the landscape of the nba. Because the not not only the detroit. Pistons have tougher road in the bad boys but who knows where the bulls would have been. Who knows where. Jordan would been if the boston celtics still the boston celtics as opposed to not only losing len bias but a few years later losing having the tragic death of reggie lewis and they never recovered took twenty years to recover. So it's it's clearly. He would have been one of the best play one of the best players of his generation and he was he would have been the rival that jordan never had in. That's that's what they talk about. It byrd had magic. And and and michael did not have really arrival. Toby was too young and other guys. Were too old yet so funny. Because we've we've all had these conversations with so many different people and i've done it on the air and you guys have done it in writing over the years. I've always made this comparison with len or as lefty would say leonard I think he was more dominique wilkins than he was. Michael jordan and. I remember many for the many years that i had the good fortune of working in the same. You know space is coach thompson. Who did the show following my show for. You know eight years and we talked all the time in our bullpen at the station about a lot of things and i remember him coming to be in saying. That's the comp. it's not michael you know. Dominique was the comp. First of all you. Michael was to go to guard you know. Lend bias was was a forward now. Len len leonard was a better shooter as a college play players. You said he was. He had one of the prettiest jump shots in the history of the of the college game and he shot at such a height Would that it was unblock but he was not the ball handler That jordan was in. I thought he would be more of sort of the human highlight reel. That neak was. But i know people short shrift. I think dominique wilkins and what a great all around player he was. I mean at forty seven against the celtics in his seventh and deciding game. So i i think that he would have been one of the all time. Nba greats. but. I always thought his cop was more wilkins not jordan. What do you guys think about that. I think you. I think the comparison to wilkins is also i mean. He was a human highlight zone but he was he was built. More like karl malone maybe not as big but but you know because of his size. There is really no calm. You know. there's nobody who played at that size at that point who who could shoot like that. You know who who who could be getting the air like that you know. Dominique wilkins was from what i remember more. You know he was more wiry not not not a not a not a big muscular guy You know and. I don't think i think you're right about jordan. They played different positions. But but i think just the the rivalry in the sense that you know burden. Magic really didn't place same position either. Bird was it was..

"Yeah kind of all over the place. There's one other quote from him on on the ryan. Fitzpatrick taylor heineke thing. Quote both ryan and taylor or two guys that are very vital very important us going forward so we'll be watching both those guys in watching their progress very very closely. I think it's going to be a very competitive battle. I think both guys want to be the guy that's going to be important to us as we go forward closed quote. So why do this. Why why tell kyle alan. You're out. I don't know i don't know either. I mean the guy. He traded for the guy who he said at the end of last year. That carlyle could have done the same thing that out. Swift it okay. Now he's not even not even asked about it. He said it he wasn't even asked he offered that up. Psa doesn't make sense. Look one of the things he said. And i'm paraphrasing here last week. Was he made a mistake last year. Not making it more of a competition. Right and i still think a lot of that was just because he didn't think much of the team going into next year and was fine with trying to find out whether haskins had anything to him and so but he has expressed recently some regret. And almost you know for all intents and purposes given what was available to him at the time almost conceded that if there had been a competition kyle alan would have won the competition and been the starting quarterback. And that's deductive reasoning. Why because when he did bench. Dwayne haskins kyle allen was the starter after week four. Now kyle allen. Was you know that you as status and eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars worth of salary and they had to go out and sign taylor heineke to a slightly different deal with a little bit more money but it's still not like big money. It's not money you couldn't get out of. I don't believe that there's actually a legitimate. Starting quarterback competition is one hundred percent. Believe that he will want everybody including his own players to believe that. They're in competition but ryan fitzpatrick was acquired. Matt stafford was attempted to be traded for and anybody else that you believe that they were interested in sam darnold. Derek carr you know the list goes on and on because they felt like they needed a starting quarterback and this was long after taylor heineke had gone. You know toe to toe with tom. Brady so i i guess. I am surprised that he in this interview. Basically dismissed kyle allen. And i don't know the answer to why right. There could be all kinds of coaching motivations here behind the scenes that we don't know about. I'm not gonna speculate what they are but I mean i don't think this was just of thoughtless thrown out comment. I think he thought it through and had a reason for saying what he said. Whatever that is yes yes. Perhaps he said it because it's hard to really buy that there would be a three way starting competition but it's easy but it's easier to buy that there's a two man competition for the starting position. I don't know. I don't know. I how i mean unless somebody's pawn kyle allen inside and said. Don't worry about what you read a west that's happening. He's got to be a little bit pissed by the way as we've been sitting here just wants you to know that. I did confirm That tommy sheppard and j writer friends. So i can't remember who told me that. I think it was. Tommy sheppard at some point of view in the last year and a half But i just couldn't remember. But i i reached out to a couple of people who would know and got back from everybody Yes they are friends. So i love what you brought to the show today. Love it 'cause i know you got it from somewhere or you wouldn't have said it and i think it would be really interesting. If wright was the wizards coach really interesting light things up baby. Okay would so the other thing i wanted to talk about is the thing that you e mailed to me Late last night. Which was this story. That andrew marshon from the new york post wrote about robert griffin the thirds audition for both fox and espn as an nfl analyst. Now for those of you. That don't know his current status. He got released by the baltimore ravens. He's out there not on any roster there was some speculation potentially philadelphia might sign him to backup jalen hurts they. Now have both joe. Flacco and nick mullins on the roster a mullins being the san francisco quarterback and they got rid of him when they drafted him trae lance so nobody really seems to have any interest in robert griffin the third. There's always the possibility you get a bunch of quarterback's hurt and training camp and griffin gets another shot. I think you know. And i remember saying it in at the time when he got that. Start because Lamar jackson was hurt against the steelers on that wednesday game because of all the cova and the different scheduling and it was on like in the middle of the day on a wednesday which was just weird This is his chance. You know this is it. And he was horrible Heath he threw for thirty three yards in the game and then got hurt late in the game. Of course he did but when he on that bleacher report draft special when he took those shots at kirk cousins after the vikings drafted callan monde. I said the next day. This dude can be really good at this. If he's fearless. If he's not afraid to be constructively critical he could be excellent as an nfl analyst college football analyst. In addition to. I think he'd be you know. I think he'd have a career in politics if he if you wanted to to go that route but there's no doubt that. Rg three is bright That he's got that he is charismatic. He's a phenomenal communicator. And according to andrew marchant at the new york post He had an all time audition for both fox and espn Quote robert griffin. The third is emerged as a top target for both. Espn and fox football Tv free agency. Espn is upped. Its offer after fox showed heavy interest in griffin as an nfl and college football analyst. Now both networks are waiting to see whether griffin will try to play again or retire from the nfl to move into tv even if griffin does does decide to play tv will be waiting for him when he ultimately retires griffin really excelled in his auditions for espn and fox sources from both networks. Say they were blown away by griffin. Some said griffin's was among the top tryouts. They have ever viewed..

"I think i think he he needs to he needs to. Maybe he might think it's the right situation. I just don't have a good feeling jay wright and russell westbrook working working together. Yeah i'm just trying to think of the other jay right connections on the roster or in the organization you know when you said it. I'm just gonna tell you. I had not thought about that. I did ask him if a college coach was a possibility. Said yes in an international coaches as well And so i'm interested in. You know not. I wasn't asking you to tell me. I didn't mean to ask you anyway to tell were you. Were you got that from. I just think that it it. It's an interesting thing because jay writes been rumored for nba jobs before now personally. I think it'd be an absolute fool to come coach in the nba. He has one of the all time. Great setups at villanova. John eline i think made a major mistake a few years ago when he left to go coach. The cleveland cavaliers. Now i think he's older and even much older than j. right. you know. Jay wright certainly looks a lot younger years older. I think you're probably right. And i just thought that was a mistake. He had built a powerhouse at michigan. Played into chino finals and final fours and lost one of them to to jay. Right got blown out in that championship. Game a few years ago j. Right but i i don't know man like i always think the same thing. If you haven't established situation at a pow like he is turned villanova into not a blue blood. Okay and that is for my good friend. Carlos molina who went to villanova and my friend. Mike carberry and many others Who i know Live for villanova basketball and believe that. Villanova has ascended to a blueblood in recent years there not a blueblood but they are on the top line of the next tier and he. He'll go when he wants to go. There will never ever be a time. In which jay wright will be in trouble at villanova. There wasn't time where there was a time when he was in trouble at villanova. That's the irony by jay wright. Know right you know when they couldn't get out of the second round there for a few years all the villanova people wanted change and now that he's won two titles you know to within three years He's the greatest ever in their blueblood pro program. But i just think jay right in any of these guys that have the setup and by the way. They're getting paid. What it. It's not like the money's gonna be that different. It might be a little bit different. But it's not a lot different. And i know you don't have to recruit which you know for a lot of these coaches is the biggest pain in the ass of the job but villanova's almost recruiting on. Its own right now. Not that they're kentucky or carolina. Duke but they get a lot of players based on reputation and based on a lot of people looking at j. right as a great coach as a smooth guy. Communicator the whole thing. But i i don't see like you're right. Look if he didn't take the philly job last year Whereas i understand you know he was the number one candidate With the talent that they have in his home in the town where he's working. I don't think he's coming to washington to coach. So i mean you know that's just pie in the sky but that would that would be the number one guy on the list after that I don't i don't know i mean it's interesting. You know. I know tommy Made his bones with his international scouting And his international connection. Yes i don't know anything about international coaches so i don't know if there's Who was the guy who got hired in cleveland. I'm blanking on the name but that's not going and it didn't. It didn't last long with lebron. Right so i don't know how if there's any international coaches out there and You know. I mean becky having I think she's gonna wind up taking over for pop if she if she coaches anywhere in the nba. I think she'll wind up staying in san antonio so i don't think she's she's become here too. I don't know who the next coach is going to be. But but they're not gonna be in a good situation unless they can trade bradley beal get a bunch of lottery picks for him and start over again this right now. You're looking at a treading water situation all over again. No doubt your your your. This is the league. And it's the one. The biggest disparity In terms of the importance of talent over coaching it. There no other league comes. If you don't have the talent doesn't matter how great the coaches i mean. You've seen some really good jobs. Done by guys in recent years and spoelstra incredible job with miami last year. Jimmy butler was playing at a pretty high level I it's really hard no matter how. Great the coaches and by the way. That's what these college coaches who've come to the nba. Including brad stevens. You know have sort of realize it's just much harder like you. Your impact on the final result of the game is less than it is in college basketball. And it's less than it is in any other sport of the major sports he will. It just isn't as significant. You're not a single. You're more of a people manager and making sure that you know you got the right players in the right mix in you're communicating and they like you in respect to you and they play well together but you have to have the talent or doesn't work i.

"Again like i said there's lots of guys who like jay right to coach their teams. But i don't think that's going to happen. What else is probably. Here's what else is going to happen. There's gotta be some kind of big search committee thing you know. This is what. Ted does exactly. You know they'll be that consultant that they that they used to Try to hire. Gm this this This english soccer official consultant. Who's consulted a lot of american sports teams on their personnel practices. I forget the guy's they've all fan but he'll be involved. You know shots out. Shasha brown will be involved. Jt three that's part of the three headed front office. They'll be involved. It will be a. They'll be a search committee hired. It will be a a ted undertaking to do it the right way There is no doubt that what you said is true and it will be built up. it will be It will be something that they will be talking about in all using all of the business buzzwords it'll be deep dive it'll be consultants. It'll be exhaustive research and due diligence and patience and best business practices in the whole thing. We'll get the whole thing from ted and the whole thing tom. You'll probably be rolling his eyes a little bit because he'll he'll know who he really wants but he'll go along But i do want to circle back to your. You know your your headliner here. Jay right I don't know where you got that. From but i do know that tommy is friends with jay right and i'm curious where you where you tell you where i heard. Well i just want to know the just telling you that it's pretty. It's i think it's pretty good information. But again i i wasn't get all excited about it because I i don't think i don't think he's. "Welcome to coincide with greenberg dockage in the south bracket where the number one seed is. Bela number two seaters iowa states. Let's get right into it. John gallagher wild and i like john gallagher. Head coach at hartford neighborhood. Man the neighborhood who here west hartford the neighborhood as the ultimate philly guy. John gallagher is the ultimate dilly guy. I've already got the text from. I've spoken is tipped off banquet a year ago. The dude is certifiably insane in a good way. What he no one is going to enjoy the ncaa tournament more than it. So as soon as they won they immediately went to indianapolis and starts to quarantine and have experienced john. Enjoy it. we're gonna say nice things about you. You're a good guy. And ballard dance so nokes no trepidation about baylor's performance against oklahoma state. Oklahoma states really good people are losing their mind. What at at baylor games. They're playing in the big twelve. They're not planning west coast conference. You're playing in the big twelve. You're planning against other teams that have good players. You're gonna lose games all right. The next game is interesting. Opening round games wisconsin. Why i think he's just not right against north carolina who depending on the day is not right. I mean real simple carolina. You can take care of the ball. Are you gonna make your shot if you take care of the ball and at least get shots up. Then you have an advantage. Except that as we know wisconsin wisconsin's analytics over. Like if you just look at their analytics you would think they'd win every game. They don't give up second shots that will turn it over. They get pretty good shots but they don't play winning basketball. I know that sounds weird. But there's something not right. I think carolina find a way to win that game except the carolina. Jecklin hide reminds of this game. Would you like i like carolina. And this and i look whatever's happened to nate rivers whether it's kobe whether it's whatever it just hasn't been good. I expected more out of him. They don't run their stop nearly as well as they didn't pass they rely too much on one. And frankly they're not a one on one team. And you know what would those big garrison brooks bay. Come and all and bacon's and everybody else you can get into wisconsin. Guards make them drivers into traffic. I think this is a pretty good match up for north carolina. I just think they're better. And i think they're going to win the basketball game and i think they're going to win it fairly big. So if you wanna bet on a game this probably going to have tyke spread. That's gonna move it out a little bit. I think this is the game i think. North carolina wins by double digits. All right to winter is the sexy upset. eco nova plant without conquests. Be justin moore play the other day but wasn't good. They started the set a little bit. You know this is. This is a winter key. May play really fast. I've got a low post lower burns at play him about fifty minutes game. he's really productive. Obviously they got a very good camera. Badran the big six seven kind of point guard because they run the show through a tuck this about. They're extremely aggressive. Pat kelsey really likeable dude. Winter months play fast was gonna try to get into half court who you like. Well i i agree with everything you said. I think winter got a hell of a team. But if this was any other organization other than j j rights organization i would say the winthrop's gonna win the basketball game but you still have robinson hurl. You still have samuels. And if healthy justin moore. You've got three guys. You've got the best three guys on the court. And that always bodes. Well now the point guard situation okay. It is what it is. We all know that point guards at villanova stuff are important. It is the sexy. Pick the five twelve upset all that kind of stuff. But i'm not betting against jay wright and his organisation they just seem to overcome things that need to be overcome when they need to be overcome. I great i agree all right. So now this is an interesting north texas by gurus helmi north texas guards. The crap you absolutely flat can guard you an elite defensive team. They put great pressure notable they then eyeball reversal on play. Two man game with javon Handle it let the point guard and that they are really really good solid defensive team. They turn people over there really aggressive. But you've seen teams like that. Purdue doesn't beat themselves. You pretty has probably i i do. I think this is going to be right down to the wire south because what. I've talked to people today actually. Starting last night couple guys. I was surprised. North texas beat western kentucky. Not because i knew anything about no taxes. But because i saw western kentucky for three games and and they're really good athletic on the wing. Strong tough. I think what you said about the all of the defense bits. Dramatically bad against purdue get up into. They're not the quickest. Get shot team jay nineties really the only one that can i think this is going to be. I'm going to bet against purdue because i think produce offensive analytics put them in the top ten. But nobody's really pressured purdue nobody's really got into them and under wings. Don't take this game for granted. North texas is going to cover whatever the point spread is pretty wins. It the end. Are you got another big time. Texas tech utah state and utah state. Pounds that thing in pain name is cadence a big physical that play a four round. One run actually pretty good motion and so pretty good actions to me. The kid just being an interesting precedent. Don't shoot it as well as they happen to pass but they really defend the top five rebounding They're a very good offensive antiques. Keta against texas tech doesn't have a legitimate big tonight. I mean or cassette said

"We are joined now by butterfly and Jay Wright thanks proper billing to me okay. Wasn't sure just want to make sure everybody's got their own terms. I know it's really late. You guys thank you so much for staying up with us. It's almost one in the morning. We're GONNA miss. We miss the shuttle obviously. Didn't have to root back. That's all I have to do is get the scooter to make it back up the elevator. You've been charging for a couple of hours now. Yeah you'd think you'd think it makes it across the hotel once and then it's out of POW. Wow that gaff rental disclose. This was my pantheon this year. It's all about look. Butterfly Moon is disabled. Sell your post on the official pagan projects. Who the hell's being Earth pigging grouping anthea on facebook community very go. I've had more than one incident. This time that I've become a piece of furniture. People have climbed on me. People have adult people adult people. I mean it's one thing if the kids climb on me that's okay. I looked like a jungle gym sometimes sitting on that thing. But I'm on scooter and I was trying to back up to park the scooter. In a workshop woman came through the door decided the gap between my back end and the chair was where she was going to walk. Even though my scooter was in motion and when the space got to narrow she put her foot on the scooter and her hand on my shoulder went up and over. The back scoops climbed over. You just climbed over like you were an actually. They're not like you're a real person or anything. No I was a piece of furniture. That's ridiculous Shit A and and it's one of those things that it's one of those things that you get used to win. You are disabled. Not being seen not being heard not being looked at or talked to but one of the things I love about. Pantheon is it's one of its one of. I think to pagan events that are held indoors so disabled people can attend. I cannot do outdoor events or camp outs the Ground Jason. Even my mobility devices. Don't work there. I've just not possible. Losing Pantheon means I have to fly across the country to go to another hotel show unless we create another one And I'm hoping that the next version of this will be great and accessible but I also think that we have to create a better space agree. I've heard some of your comments seen them on facebook and as somebody who is not differently abled. I don't face those issues. So it doesn't come to my forefront tell somebody brings it up and I feel bad about that because I don't have to think about it and most people don't and it's good they don't have to think about it but I would like it if they would see that we're here no you don't have to think about it. All the time to my thing is always don't put another obstacle in my way. I think it's just a simple fact that a lot of people don't think it we actually. I went to meet up recently two weeks ago and I know that the group had good intentions ago. We want wanted to paint the connex out in camping. And I'm like for the promises that excludes a large portion of the yes says they even if a mistress prime-1 camping she could easily because she has stuff that she needs it not to mention that traditional camping for those of us who have a knee and back issues. It's it's painful. It's very painful. And if you have allergies or asthma or yeah yeah I have trouble getting off a regular bed let alone off the ground uneven ground wheels volunteer person. I've gone to Ren Fairs where we've left early toes wheels of my walker sink into the silt or the mulch that they put down and I get stuck the wheels on the bus no longer go round and round exactly and it's so much fun to watch him trying to pull me out considering my relative size now getting video of that no sir. No by absolute favorite was I got stuck his. The parade was headed. My Way and my friends are in the Scottish clans. And they realized what was going on and they gave the orders. And the guys big guys marched out and kicked me in the Walker up and moved off to the side. It was hysterical. I mean I knew they were coming in so they sort of had my permission to pick me up and move me but it was along the lines of of watching my friends faces. He realized I was stuck and that the parade was about to walk right over me Yanks and they did it. More or less in cadence. Yeah that was fun But there are times when you know I WANNA be a regular part of the rituals. I WANNA be a regular part of the events and I can't always do it. That's that's a good point for those of us who planned rituals do public events. Yeah think about those who are differently abled than what you are listening pigging specifically but I didn't escape room and one of the things that the ass was are any colorblind. Oh this is something we need to be aware of. Yeah I've had to learn to have an a conversation differently. I yes su-mei Jay is almost completely colorblind. I have had to learn to describe things differently. I can't say could you hand me my Blue Cane? He just turns and Glares at the because I have a stand with twenty different gains in it. Yes he has no idea what color they run on. Each one will actually. Once upon a time I had ones that had like animal heads in different so we named them all so I could say hand me quite chain. Cain hand me you know. We gave them puns of course Because he couldn't see the colors but yeah there's there's different things could be done. What my one of my big things is. "Also, obviously, it's been a busy show with Jay Wright, and Tim clues. And. And Chris Mullin and Gilman. So we've been very busy so far. Here we go, Bob and summit. What's up? You know, it's funny when you said your favorite player with Steve Smith, and he asked which one I I think he thought that you meant to Steve Smith that was a great Eli target when? Which wasn't a big time player though. He could have been if he didn't. The other Steve Smith was a borderline hall of Famer. Of course. But he did ask which one I think that's what he's thinking. I'll tell you. He's hockey percent, right. You could take call it until the cows come home top five trades in my lifetime in terms of shipping. The guy out versus taking a guy in. I mean, you wanna talk about Gary Carter or something like that. But in terms of shipping, the guy out the top three. Usually trade guys in their prime. My thing was a very different trades. We know that only can. But I know it I mean, God knows we revisit it more than once. But I gotta tell you Mike is a giant fan. That was not a competent shaking interview that guy just gave you. I mean, there's just no two ways about I. Yeah, they have a lot of pets that you guys who it's all about getting the quarterback. Now, they've got two guys left. They both coming off rookie season. They were the two leading sappers. He's gotta address that seven. They have they have they have five six of the top one hundred and they're all going for the sense if they pick. I if I told you there's going to probably get a quarterback. I would think the more logical things for them. Take Rosen and give away maybe a conditional pick for next year. You know, maybe maybe a pick. That's for next year. That's a conditional three that becomes a two. If he starts X number games that kind of thing something like that. That's where I think they would go. The question is does the guy pushy? If they are playing well. Then you leave it alone. See the thing the thing that was different that year. Is that year was all about getting playing time was about because he was to draft. If you take a guy six is going to be pressured to play him. He's take in the third round. There's no pressure to plan. So it really comes down to comes down to that more than anything else. Tony in Long Beach. What's up, Tony? Hey, mike. How are you? Good. What's happening? I gotta tell you. I think the interview was with them. It was great. However, the issue I have with him is that he very clearly feels that he's not dropping quarterback in the first with the number six or even in the first round. I think he's gonna go. Are you seeing that it's on offense a fine? You need someone to protect he largest relies. It'll be there next year. She wants to make sure he gives you the best possible set up to be successful. And then might even I think might even go after a wide receiver with the seventeenth pick. And defense all the way down the line. I don't think they're picking on offense in the first two rounds. I mean, if they pick a quarterback with six that's one thing. I do not think they're picking offense of players with the I six hundred seventeen unless if we're gonna quarterback I think otherwise they can defense. I do not think they pick an offense with their first couple of weeks. I only there's any chance of doing that. They're not taking a wide receiver personal tunnel draft. Taking a wide receiver. That is not having Denison Yonkers what's up Dennis? Hey, Mike, very quick comment. Forget seven Nick nature's got in upper mid majors. Largest? Houston. But there's still Gonzaga's. Power six convicts dairy. They're they're they are. They were a month the power as a team though, there are one seed come on. Now, I realize that. But my rule was fixed mid major. So I can't complain. But you're not mid majors in there. You really got one. You got Belmont. Have you got six Baucom, Houston, Nevada? Count. Houston is come home. Temples not a major. I'm not being fair about it. But those are in mid majors. Mid the mid major is come on now. You got Belmont. That was you got Bill Mark. You got a lot of those teams have the those teams have mainstreamed. He you Wichita state primarily Wichita state can Zog okay, which saw steak. Zog those schools have all mainstreamed into being PC. You those teams are real big schools. Now, you know that. But it's been a number one seed three times in the last ten years did knocking at large. Yeah. How many games have fought them when this year? Well and twenty I believe, okay. Go ahead. Go ahead. Go on Tom. Okay. I haven't talked to you since Beckham trade. But I had no idea we're going to one thing. I would say is that I'm glad they restructure the track. I want flexibility adapt is going forward. You said, you know, you're in favor of getting Moses getting who Rosen. No, not a favorite get anybody. I said, I think my gut feeling is. That's what he's gonna do. I'm not in favor of getting a quarterback. What gives you that impression? I got because because he pretty much stole me that his plan is to get a quarterback. So I think that quarterback he gets him without having to use a one this year because I can't see him taking a quarterback that he likes or wants in the second or third round of the draft. So I think he could get a guy who let's say he has a good grade on Rosen. I don't know that he does. But let's just say does. And he has a a grade that Rosen could be a starter in the league he might be able to get him for three with a conditional to kind of thing based on how much he plays this year. But it doesn't that sound like to me. It sounds like fortunate because I've done a little more final finally looking at quarterbacks, and I like asking the rose asking. I don't like Haskins Haskins has gone off the board in the top ten though dentists, and I'm not taking them. I'm not I'm I'm not taking them, and he's gone off the board in the top ten picks. That that's happening. I mean, let's say twelve it'd be the outside. Eric and Clifton. What's up, Eric? Hi, Mike, first time long time. Yes. Time giants fan. I'm seventy two years old. I go till date Quin question. I've heard what you said I agree with you ninety percent of the time. And I and this is one of the times his let me run something by any chance in the first round that the giants get Josh Allen as as a, you know for defense and then get drew lock. I can't see Josh boardwalk. Board when they pick. What do you think drew lock? I'm not I don't like him. Now there have been rumors. That teams are that. There have been rumors about the giants at him that have been. I'm not I'm not high on myself. I wouldn't take any of those quarterbacks, and they're all going to be the first round picks to they're going off the board in the first round lots going off the board on the first round probably late and the Duke quarterback's probably going off the board sometime inside twenty picks. And then the other two quarterbacks are going off the board before that Kyla Murray and Haskins. So there's probably four quarterbacks off the board in the first round. Locked me in the fourth question. Is there any chance I know you're big on defense. Is there any chance they take somebody like John Taylor out of Florida to shore up the offensive line? He said that is a positive now. He just said he that's a possibility. I don't see it. I could see them. The my understanding right now, they are okay with their they're okay. With the left side. We know that. Okay. They light. They liked the Senator who guys like broken in the second game last year they like him. So let's give him a full year. And you got Hernandez and you got Nate. Now. You have a good, right? God. Would you just got some Cleveland Zeitler Wheeler? And again, I'm looking at those guys is depth in Brown. And what I would like to see is. I'd like to see them sign remers and play him at right tackle. And then I don't know if the draft anybody, but he did say he was not above drafting an offensive lineman over his guys here that he did say that. He did say if I find the right God, I like I'll tap on the shoulder. I would sign remers is a free agent. They have a history and play him at right tackle. And then use my other guys death. And have a guy inside is versatile enough to play a couple of positions. So that in case somebody gets hurt you can play them in Santa plane God that kind of guy. Mardian huntington. What's up money? Hi, mike. How are you? Good. What's up? Listen, I'm in full of binary. I'm in full agreement with the giant Eli Eli manning is not problem giants. Next year defense hasn't had a linebacker. And I don't know how many years, and they gotta they gotta pay up a at the start. Slowly would a defense Ruggeri time. You know? I mean run time store on third down. That's the way to build a build a team again where I disagree with. You is on something you said last week about the Yankees with Andrew Andrew Hart's. Gotta be the top of the lineup. Mike is a free hundred ETA leading leading the league in gobble stuff. Like that. How are you? Satnam in the top give me an idea. Are you? You gotta put 'em number two, Mike or no God. No. I can tell you right now. Judges second. Well, I know that, but here's my here's my problem. He's not an on base percentage guy, though, he doesn't walk. Yeah. And he does it look at pitches. And one of the things like, yeah. But one of the. That's not what you're looking for it. Listen, the two guys they vet one to look at more pitches than anybody in baseball as one to hitters gaudy and judge came around last year to be becoming a better hitter. Well, but he also he'll look at pitches to and they're gonna Batum in the two spot. Okay. And the worst they're going to judges in the three spot, that's the worst. But I think they'll bet gaudy one. Now, this is what out Hicks. What's going to happen right now? With the Yankees is the one thing that's going to happen is Jean Carlos gonna wind up in left field to start the season. And you're going to have both. Void. And bird make the team and they can use one at first then one is D H on Sundays, and then some days so some days they might put birdied first voids D H, and if the plan against the left they put void. At first they put Stanton in the outfield, and you.

2019 March Madness Begins

"So the March madness frenzy is now underway because the bracket. I'm holding one in my hands. Just won. I usually fill out two or three. But I'm holding one pristine perfect bracket in my hands. It's only perfect because I haven't yet started filling out winners and losers. That's where you come in. We've got the after hours bracket challenge. Now, you've got the bracket you've got a couple of days to Termine who the winners will be and how you plan on taking out the crew we are inside the rocket mortgage by Quicken Loans studio rocket mortgage is with you every step of the way to provide a seamless mortgage experience. I would love to hear from you about the bracket about what stands out can I tell you what stands out for me about selection Sunday. How wonderful it was to have CBS go on the air and sixty seconds later. We were doing brackets Beatty. Don't make me sit through bunch of analysis and predictions. When I know you're hiding the brackets. Gimme gimme gimme gimme the brackets now and PBS went back to basics. I would say this. If it was any other network. There is absolutely no need for a two hour show that favors the brackets until the final thirty minutes for heaven sakes. It was boring last year. And it was. Drama that was unnecessary because the brackets bring their own drama. So I love the fact that within sixty seconds of the selection show starting on Sunday on CBS. We were already seeing the first bracket which featured Duke as the overall number one this year wasn't that way until Zion Williamson returned and the blue devils ran through the ACC championship if you didn't stay awake. So you're on the east coast, and you didn't stay awake or you had other plans on Friday night and missed Dookie UNC. All it was a fantastic tug of war. It was so good all the way until the end. So we'll talk about that game as well. As what do you did to win the and secure its spot as the number one seed a lot changed over the last couple of days among the ones and the twos. But for the blue devils their fourteenth time as a one seed, although the first time is the overall number one since two thousand fifteen. The other three top seeds Virginia in the south. Now remember last year Virginia with coach Tony Bennett was the overall number one and lost to a sixteen. First time it's ever happened. You remember the name? So this year the Cavaliers the who's our second in terms of the top seed. So the second overall seed. And they've actually got the defending champ in their south region. So Villanova won a third consecutive big east title, but because of the roller coaster ride for the Wildcats season Villanova's a six seed so interesting there we'll hear from head coach Jay Wright a little bit later on. You also have the big bracket BUSTER coming out of the pack twelve Oregon the twelve seed after winning four games in four days to capture the automatic bid. So love it when that happens when a team that wouldn't have gotten in other wise ends up winning the conference tournament. That's the true definition. Of the madness and the little guy having an opportunity every team having the same opportunity to get into the field of

"Jay Wright is one of those who has pushed the boundaries of three point shooting in college basketball. Chicks open three left wing for the league. Sixty sixty two thirty sound from the Villanova sports network. But this year's Wildcats are an indicator of how much more difficult. It is to consistently rely on the three point strategy in college than it is in the NBA. Here's this weekend's, Jennifer Kushinka a year ago Villanova won the men's college basketball national championship with a record breaking number of three pointers made. But as lane Higgins with the Wall Street Journal tells us if you live by the three you can also die by three lane. What is coach J rates philosophy about shooting threes? So he has a little bit of a saying that he tells his players, and it goes shoot them up sleep in the streets. And it's meant to encourage players to be aggressive and not stop shooting, even when their shots aren't going in because when that happens, then everything about the offense just grinds to a halt, and based on how many, you know, just the law of large numbers if you're going to shoot a lot of threes. Eventually some of them are going to go in. And that's how his team got to the record-setting number of threes at they attempted last year, which was one thousand one hundred fifty eight draw their games and this year just in the regular season through twenty nine games. They're already at nine hundred five how does this season shape up compared to last year? How's the team doing just based on overall rankings? The team is definitely nowhere near where the team was last year. Last year, the Villanova Wildcats spent most of the year in the top ten events rankings. But this year they've been in and out of the top twenty five, but that's kind of a little bit misleading because. The roster is unrecognizable from last year last year that team had four players at all went in the first round of the NBA draft. And this year there's three underclassmen that are getting significant minutes and starting now so the team is just really really young. So it's a little bit of a rebuilding year. And considering that the team is still doing great lean does Jay Wright, go out and recruit guys that are just going to be bombing away from the outside. Or is he looking for some other things I believe that he recruits players on a little bit more of a holistic basis, but he has a philosophy of roster structuring that is built upon the assumption. That players are going to be there for more than just one or two years. So he's not a coach that buys into the whole one and done philosophy. And unfortunately, the team this year kind of got up ended because so many players ended up leaving a little bit early. And the team next year will be even younger in the sense that they'll be no juniors on the team, and that's unusual. Villanova teams. Most of the time. There are a fair amount of upperclassmen, and you know, look at last year's national championship team. That was led by a lot of senior leadership. And Jalen Brunson is a great example of that. We're speaking with lean against the Wall Street Journal lane. What is different in a three point offense in terms of spacing or responsibilities? Yeah. So when players are in an offense, that's primarily based upon free point shooting as soon as I get the ball bear taught to look.

"Yes, they lost a ferment at home. And yes, they lost a pen on the road. But there are now a team. That's you know, playing Jay Wright ball slowing the pace down and efficient offense a solid defense. Keeping in the games. But I don't you know, right now looking at the conference. I mean, I have Villanova, you know, outside the top twenty. And when you have you know, when your top team and your conferences twenty five to thirty. And and you only have you know, one or two other teams in the top forty or fifty. You know, a lot of them are are in that forty to fifty stretch. I mean to be honest, you know, the big east is just a touch better than the Pac twelve which we know is just probably touch better than the American for any other major conferences. You know? I think you look at Villanova. And yes talent takes you very long way in college basketball as we see year in and year out. But you wanna talk about the impact that coaching has Villanova last year. They were what about one hundred fiftieth or something in the country and tempo, you know, they had all of that offense of firepower, and they used it, and they played very well on both ends of the floor this year. They don't have as much offensive firepower. So they slow. It down and there's still having success. I mean, this is a test of a how good J right is. Yeah. There's no question. You know? Yes. He has you know. Yes, he has a couple of Goto guys this year, you know with past shell and booth. But again, you lose four people drafted in the round and be able to to adjust your game. You know last year they were the most efficient team as far as Kem palm goes going in. You know, a number one seed, you know, as you said they were playing at at a pace of one hundred fifty this year three forty so they're almost last of the three hundred fifty three teams their average length of possession. Boy, they hold onto the ball. They know that you know, as long as they don't turn the ball over. They are decent on on mistakes. They're a decent free-throw sheeting team. They're they're just they're a very very good team. But don't make any mistake about it. No matter what they finish. If they win the big east and move forward. They're not that same type of number one c team, you know. And the funny thing is let's remember last year below noble. So good as a number one seed, they didn't even win the big east last year..

That they won the election whereas the, electoral commission had hasn't hasn't you semi presidential results but they have set that. That nuclear after ruling party has won two thirds of the seats in parliament. So that gives you an indication of what's going on and why people are angry so yesterday there were several hundred demonstrators are opposition supporters were marching through. Town in front of the electoral commission and that's when things got a bit rowdy initially I'm Jay, Wright police were, called in and did they watch reports of. You had sort of automatic, weapon wielding soldiers chasing down seven straighter were maybe artistic or so but also. Lot of passer, bys were. Just shelling things on the streets of worship shopkeepers nearby were caught up in LA which was sort of change From the very peaceful election day that we have seen it also pledges of. No violence from both leaders ahead of like like and we've. Also seen the United Nations and Amnesty International in addition to other leaders calling for calm after these elections. You said that things today are relatively calm but are there concerns that this military. Crackdown could continue yes I think the concerns are there and it's not normal to have soldiers on the street, that's something bad people here saw last November. When, there was. This military intervention Betsy post Mugabe but then after a few weeks cultures were taken off the. Street does things are pretty normal so people are definitely. Worried concerned and at this point we also. Don't have a sign that the opposition will Kombi accepts the, election results they said that they believe that votes rigs and I believe that if. If there's about one be election it, will probably be more protests And, I think the government has shown that it's gonna crack. Down with a heavy hand and once the winner is announced. Or declared what is it exactly that the, people of Zimbabwe are looking for from this government I? Think, they want jobs as one of the things that I've heard from many many people you. Have unions saying that sign out of ten workers are unemployed there's a massive, cash crisis here, the dollar has seen dominant currency, in Zimbabwe since two thousand nine since they have that out. "Okay last jay wright and villanova won his second national title in three years put him on top of the mountain in terms of the hottest college coach and with two teams the knicks and magic firing head coaches yesterday you know his name is likely on some nba teams wishlist and the knicks fired their coach and the name jay right was trending like five minutes later so with that thought let's welcome in our basketball insider jeff goodman so we know about rights history at nova news new system at rowley and everything else do you see a scenario where an nba team is able to pry him out of there i don't think it's going to happen right now greenie i think it's gonna take a couple more years i've talked to jay about this in the past she was texting when the a little while ago these in rome right now with his wife patti and he's a different dude when it comes to all this he's not you typically college coach he's got great balance with his family his kids are a little bit older now but this is a guy who spurned any sort of interview in two thousand nine when he came out that final four appearance when his good fred ed's defense key was the general manager at the time with the sixers so i think it's gonna take an elite job for jay right to make the move and right now he's got a team coming back likely villanova where he returns four his top six players so make an actually make another run and potentially win a third national title within a four year period which would be remarkable.
