If they're home and they try to match lines, oh, we'll wait for orlov or mcavoy to be off the ice and take lindholm on, like it makes no sense. And so I think it might be just dependent on situations, teams, rounds, all that. But that also brings up a point that I think edited brought up was that small, third pairing line. This would pretty much like take that notion away. And also give a very experienced person on that line. And I'm not saying Clifton's on experience and grizzly's not. I think Joe sako has been trying to coach for a job for several years now. Ever since what happened with the Colorado avalanche. So many years ago, you know, as much like Cassidy after coaching, the Washington capitals for two seasons and then going right down to the coast and working his way back up. So yeah, I could see that. And there's going to be coaching jobs that are coming up because Peter laviolette from the Washington capitals got let go. And mutually walked away from each other. He was so good to interview, you know, just very transparent and just gave it to you as you asked it. Right now. Brown comes in and says lots of fruits fans and Atlantic provinces. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Provinces, provinces. I always say Providence, I don't know why. Where are we going now?

"You know, is this an opportunity to maybe call some of those guys up on a for a week, you know, for two weeks for a game? I don't know, you know? I believe so because everybody that you mentioned that they have the ability to go through the waiver process without any problems. Like video literary did pass through waivers to begin the season. So he can be called up and I think that he can he'll have to stay for 30 days or play in ten games after that. He'd be waiver exempt. I mean, yeah, he'd have to go through the weaver process. I think that's sometimes they worry about that because it loses a player for nothing. Nobody wants to, but I could see players that are on entry level deals that have no waivers to get those opportunities, but I'm kind of thinking that it's going to be later on in the season. You know, we're looking into mid march and early April. I think those are the times that you'll get the opportunities. And not only that, but you give a little bit of NHL time in the season for your black aces that are going to be just practicing throughout the playoff rounds as far as everyone's go. So there's always that taste is always that good feeling of being with a group and everything, but I just want to see, I want to see Mark McLaughlin take a bigger step and a little bit of the physicality and his offensive capabilities. I'm just not seeing the solid two way game, but then again, the NHL does bring out the best in a lot of people. Like, hey, I'm here. I'm back. I'm going to do whatever I can. I'm JoJo the bouncing clown. I'm never going back. I get that. But at the AHL level, I believe you. It's always, it's the always hungry league, right, Steve. Always freaking hungry. You got to, you got to work down there too, to get those call ups to get noticed. And, you know, my opinion is not gospel when it comes to prospects, but I'm just, I want to see more from certain players as well. You obviously watch those games a lot more than I do, but I do, you know, whenever I see your posts about, you know, here are the lines for tonight. It does look like there's a lot of fluctuation. It seems like there's always guys that are on the fourth line on a Friday night and then they're on the second line done Saturday night, is there are they still trying to work on some consistency down there or finding rhythm or is that just sort of the way the AHL works sometimes where or are they just too loaded? I mean, they have so many freaking prospects down there. And guys that can play, are they just trying to find a home for everybody? Great question, Steve. What I've noticed in the past couple of years, whether it be Jay leitch behind the bench and Winfield and Ryan Luger now or Ryan Munn, who's the coach now with Trevor field and Matt Thomas.

"If you're looking for someone with ties to the organization which the bruins love, but also a guy that's younger enough that can check off the other boxes in terms of what the bruins are looking for in terms of refresh voice, a guy who built a very strong reputation for himself. For himself, I think that's definitely someone you have to look at as Jay leitch. It just seems to make the most sense in terms of the bruins come from factor of having someone who's been within the organization and then you look at what he's done over his years in Providence, whether it's hoping along some of these other younger players, like Jackson, Jacobs boro, Oscar scene, Frederick, all these guys that he's kind of personally coached over the years that maybe he helps them reach the next level in their respective careers up at the NHL level. And not just the fact that the individual prospects that he's coached, but I think the thing with Jay leitch is why he was such a highly organic coach down the AHL level is that the results were always there. His players almost always were ready to start on time. They really didn't have extended lulls during the AHL season. We're always a model of consistency even for a team that didn't necessarily have the most stacked farm system. They were always ready to play always structurally sound effective. So again, he's very good coach. For what he could bring to this team and what kind of that next chapter is for this team moving forward. So I definitely wouldn't put it past them. Looking in the guy like leech and feeling he kind of checks off all the boxes as to what they need. So pretty, I would say probably a pretty safe bet that Jay leach is the favorite as of right now for the bruins head coaching job. And speaking of safe bets, might as well talk about our great partners over at bet online. A partners at benign continued to be the number one source for all your bet needs in sports.

"And welcome into episode one O one of the poke the bay of podcast. I'm your host, Connor Ryan, writing solo this week, our esteemed host Evan Marino ski, good friend is soaking up the sun in Cape Cod this week. He's out and about might still be stuck on traffic. And over at the sagamore bridge, who knows maybe catching some rays, going to Sunday school, getting an ice cream. Who knows what he's doing? But regardless, not on the podcast this week, unfortunately, you just stuck with me. But all of them considered if it's a solo show, it actually works out pretty well because what do you know? There's still not a whole lot of tangible news to talk about with the bruins these days. For as much as it came nearly talked about the fact that Don Sweeney was going to have a contract extension all wrapped up. It's been 5 weeks and we have not had a press release yet. Don't really know what's going on with Don Sweeney. The draft is in about two weeks. I still have no clarity on who's exactly steering the ship. I assume it is dawn Sweeney, but you'd probably like to have it in writing somewhere as to who's actually making these personal decisions. So nothing to report there. Bruins search for their next head coach is still ongoing. They are taking their time in terms of interviewing candidates and trying to determine who's kind of the best fit for this team moving forward, that it's kind of at a crossroads, right? We don't really know who exactly what path they're going to take, whether it's running it back, whether it's rebuilding, retooling, if treasury is going to be back. A whole lot of stuff still up in the air. It feels like there's still one or two dominoes that need to fall for this team before the off season really starts to ramp up. And we haven't really had that yet, right? We don't have any indication quite yet as to whether or not Patrice bergeron is going to come back, which I think is going to set in motion which path the ruins end up taking. And so yeah, no clarity, I don't know, coach. You're starting to see other coaches get plucked up around the league. Obviously, palmar east goes to Florida, which is an interesting situation last week, John totoro goes to Philly, which will be the content will be fantastic for that. That's all I'll say to that. For what he'll do for that team. But for the bruins, yeah, nothing really to report on. In terms of who they're identifying, we heard reports last week that Jay leitch was a favorite David quin was a favorite. We discussed the coin situation a little bit on bruins beat earlier this week and not really buying into it for David quin in terms of how exactly he fits with this team. It's one of those ones where sure you kind of look at his reputation and he's known as a guy that gives younger plays a little bit more of a rope is a little bit more of a positive voice in the room. There's not just say that Bruce Cassidy was doom and gloom, but it was very blunt and candid in terms of what he wants and what he expects out of this team..

"In terms of maximizing a win now team so I could see that being the case even though I think as we both said quite a few times already, it's right on the best path moving forward for this team. You look at Jay leitch. Makes a lot of sense, former has his fingerprints all over this organization, was done Providence. It's probably like viewed as the next guy in waiting, if anything was to happen to Cassidy. And then he goes off to Seattle and kind of upends that kind of narrative. But again, one year now up in the NHL kind of cutting his teeth up there. You could make the connection between him and if you're trying to relate to younger players while he ushered along guys like Sidney and Frederick and sabor and all those players. So he's also only 42. If they brought back Zeno Chara, Chara would actually be older than they had. So that fits in line with what they'd be looking for, whether it's connecting younger players or I guess a new voice. I feel like they always talk about new voice. That's all gone through and talked about. That's what cam Neely mentioned. I feel like what labels a new voice is someone who's outside of the organization, but I also just feel like they're not going to do that. As much as I'm sure as we go through this podcast, we're talking about other guys as well. But it feels like it's still going to be someone who at some point in time has some connection to this team, whether it's a guy like leech who makes a lot of sense, you've got, again, Sacco and Kelly, who are still on the contract. I don't think they elevate those guys to head coach, but and then you also have a guy like David Quinn, who maybe doesn't have direct ties, but also from Cranston Rhode Island is good friends with Sweeney as the connections in terms of being grizzly and mcavoy's coach at BU..

"No tell me that. What do you want nerd? What are you talking about? That would be which one of them would do. Barry trots, but again, that feels like, I don't know if he would, I don't know if that's the guy. I mean, obviously he's the number one coach on the market, but I don't know if he would be the change they would want. I also feel like there's going to be a huge bidding war for him. A lot of other teams probably going after him. Ryan mujer from Providence, again, Cassidy was the head coach, he was head coach for a while then he became assistant. But maybe they go with him, even though he's sort of new. Jay leitch in Seattle. That is the one who a lot of people have circled. But that would again be maybe more of a rebuild, but still, I mean, maybe it's funny poor Jay leitch moves all the way up to Seattle. Coming back, buddy. Get back here. Move your family back. The grandpa and The Simpsons with the hat. Yes. That's J leech. Can you bring Dave gaucher with him too? Yeah. Oh no, not Dave gross isn't freaking Vegas. That's really stupid. I was thinking for a second. I think I was in Seattle. You obviously. Who makes the most sense? Because again, I have a feeling it'll be one of bonus or talking. I think it'll be one of those two. That would be my guess. Yeah, again, it's going to come down to what path bruins set. And again, as I've said before, on this podcast, many times already, if it's a rebuild in its gallic J leach or like Lehman or someone like that. Okay, I get it. I get it. At the very least, I understand their line of thinking. If it's talking about JPMorgan, if it's or it's like Quinn, it's like that's like the ultimate me being like, what do you guys? It's like the monkey paw. Will fire breeze gassy. Are you happy then? I'm like, no, that's not what I was asking for. But if it's a situation like that, where it's a younger coach and it's embracing that rebuild. Sure. But as you said, what I imagine it's going to be is someone who's in the old boys club because again, it's the same regular guys at the top who are making who are calling the shots at a pivotal time in this franchise's tenure in terms of what this team is going to look like the next 5 years. Again, it's just frustrating because I think for bruins fans who are so committed to this team in terms of wanting to seem to thrive and being happy for another year maybe a bergeron and creature and how great that will be. But let's look 5 ten years down the line is one year having those guys back together worth ten years in mediocrity ten years of getting the 12th overall pick and trying to swing for the fantasies on that. Again, it's all about mapping out a set game plan. And maybe there's just one domino to fall and we get more clarity, very shortly, but if it's running it back with the same crew with just a less a coach at the helm, I don't know what to tell you..

Poke the Bear

"The only issue, of course, is one, getting the cap room because even if especially bergeron's back, you have to then move out quite a few contracts to comment a guy like kadri, who I think is going to get what, at least $7 million, annually on his new deal. And again, also the risk is, all right, you're trying to build with that next generation. Kadri is a very good player, but as I said earlier, he's going to be 32 going into next season. Is that a guy that you want to hand a 5 year contract 6 year contract at $7 million annually? I mean, by what? Year three, he could already be starting to decline up pretty heavily. So definitely something you have to weigh if you're the bruins. Let's see. I guess we'll get one or two more in here. From Joe travia who says if Cassidy does in fact get fired, big if. Who are your top three most likely guys to replace him? Well, knowing the bruins logic, I'd imagine they'd probably first look internally, of course. That's what they always do. At a guy like Joe Sacco, who bruins played pretty well when he was on the venturing that stretch for Cassie was out with COVID. I could see that maybe looking at a guy like Jay leitch, who's out in Seattle right now who seemed to be a logical kind of that next man up if a few years down the road, the bruins wanted to move on from Cassidy..
