"One pick swap. I want to understand that when you say this is a call directly between the nets and the suns, who is on the call here, how does this actually work in real terms? In this case, Pablo, the owner Joe Tsai, called Matt ishbia. Who had not actually transferred the money for the team, the team on that Monday was approved for the sale. The other 30 teams voted and he got 29th yeses and one abstention, which was his mortal enemy in the mortgage business and Detroit. Business rival. Dan Gilbert from the Cleveland Cavs who abstained. But essentially on that Monday, it was known that he was going to get the team. So that having happened the same day as during its trade demand, Nat gets a call from Joe on his cell phone and he says, hey, I know you've got the team for about 15 minutes here, but would you be interested in trading for Kevin Durant? And that HP has said you're damn right, I'm interested in trading with Kevin Durant. And so from there, what does the next step look like? Because it's also, I assume, at some point, like the GMs, the front offices of these teams get involved, and at some point, the sticker shock must set in, right? Right. So Sean marks the general manager of the nets and James Jones, the president of the sun's due the negotiation and the ass comes, and it's like, look, for first round picks, no negotiation. Pick swap, no negotiation. Mikael bridges and cam Johnson, no negotiation. So James Jones having been around the NBA for two decades. Tries to negotiate. And spends a couple of days going back and forth with Sean marks about trying to move him off, trying to get maybe one last draft pick. Really trying Pablo not to trade Mikhail bridges because the suns felt like that was the untouchable piece. That they would love to have bridges to be part of this newly formed team to be a core member. They just didn't want to give them up. So over the ensuing two days, the negotiations started to play out, HBO transfers $2.28 billion for 57% of the sun's buying out Robert sarver and some of his partners. That money transfers on Tuesday. Wednesday morning, he gets up in Detroit with his family they board a private jet, fly to Phoenix, he goes in and meets his new employees. The full owner because the money's transferred, everything's been signed. He's got the keys, so to speak, to the franchise, he goes and says, hey, it's great to see all of you. We're going to do big things. You have no idea how big we're going to do big things and has one of those typical press conferences where he's I'm going to bring a championship to the valley and then he goes out and does something that could absolutely bring a championship to the valley. He left the press conference study that he did and went to the sun's practice facility and he sat with James Jones and they were less than 24 hours in the trade deadline, and they were really drilling down on this Durant trade. And they went over a whole bunch of things, including, you know, the sun's front office guys saying, hey, you know, we love Kevin Durant. We'd like to do this deal, but we just want to take a deep breath here and realize that we don't have to do it right now. We can do it later. We can do another deal. We want you to be comfortable. We don't want you to do all this on your first day. Yeah, learn where the bathrooms are first, and then maybe, yeah, make a transaction that's going to cost what in terms of additional luxury tax. Almost $40 million between 30 and 40 million, depending on how you do it. And the sun's as an organization and only paid $14 million in the previous 20 years. Total $14 million total. The exact opposite in terms of mindset in terms of spending, then yes. This new guy seems to be. But HPR really wants to rant. And one of the things that he is he's saying to himself as much as he's saying to the sun's front office guys is like, look, I know that this is crazy on my first day, but I could be the owner here for 20 years and it never get a chance to trade for a top 5 player like this. It just so happens that the opportunity is coming on the first day. It doesn't mean it's an opportunity that should be passed by. And so they call the nuts and say, okay, we're meeting your demands, and the nets say, great. Now tossed in Jay Crowder and the deal is done. And the sun say wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. What are you talking about? We have another deal for Jay Crowder. Yeah, we agreed to not negotiate. I thought that was the deal. Right. We're gonna trade Jay Crowder to the Milwaukee Bucks. We've been talking to him about it for months. We finally gonna have a deal. It's gonna get 5 second round picks for him. And we're gonna do a separate deal. We need those draft picks to help build out our team because we're trading everything else. No negotiation. Jay Crowder or no deal. So break down and talks. One of those classic walk away from the table, I don't know if anybody hung up in anger, but it wasn't a good place. And the trade was off. And meanwhile, Matt and Justin HP are expected at this celebratory dinner at this hotel, this beautiful hotel in Scottsdale. It's Super Bowl week. It's everybody's in town. He's got a whole bunch of people to celebrate because Pablo, he just bought an NBA team. That day. He just, you know, over 2 billion dollars on something. He wanted to, yeah, maybe toast to it. Yeah, so James Jones says, okay, we're gonna make a different deal. We're gonna trade for John Collins from the Atlanta Hawks, who is a high quality player. He's not Kevin Durant, but certainly. Sure. Right. Certainly an electrifying athlete certainly would have been a major trade to upgrade the sons ahead of

"From three in the playoffs last year. He has had two really good three point shooting years, like one year in the 38% when you're in the 39% range. Every year of the year has been like, yeah, 34%, which is fine. He's not an ace, but he's fine. His defense at times has been great and his defensive times has not been. But a capable experienced and, you know, guys got a lot of postseason experience under his belt, fits in well with them. I like the feistiness there too. I agree on that count. Didn't cost them a ton. So yeah, it's fine. It's not changing the world. I'm still puzzled by the one other thing that would concern me and this is a small small concern because it was really a Phoenix concern. It's not a Milwaukee concern. But it does kind of somewhat concern me about the player when I'm just not going to report. It may or may not be about my contract, but it's probably not about my contract. I'm going to say on the record or leaked to somebody that's not about my contract. It's really more about the fact that they're promoting cam Johnson and I'm not on the bench, but no, no, I'm going to deny that to there's nothing left. If it's not about minutes roll or money, there's really nothing else left. So I don't understand still, despite all the leaked reports since last summer, why Jay Crowder has not been playing for the sons and I don't think it necessarily speaks well of him that he has decided to stay home this whole time and that they've let him, by the way, they could be fighting him if they wanted to be hard asses about it. I've never understood any part of this Jay Crowder situation in Phoenix. I'm glad that national nightmare is over. It is truly one of the silliest sagas of our time. It just a weird trade deadline overall, guys. Very weird, a lot of shuffling around how do players going back to their old teams. I hope we get a buck Celtics rematch in the east, but I think that will do it for this episode of open floor. Thank you to herring Beck and mannix. Be sure to check out the other trade deadline episode we did where we get into basically everything we did on this one. That'll be on the crossover feed, maybe both can be on both feets. I don't know, but in any event, thank you to everyone for listening

"As they possibly could. Because look, the Lakers clearly were willing to part with Russell Westbrook, some combination of draft picks. Russell Westbrook does nothing for Brooklyn right now. I have a hard time believing that they would even kept him around if they acquired him. They might have just bought him out and used the roster spot for somebody else. I don't buy Phoenix being involved in this as much as was reported, you know, my understanding was that there was definitely conversations with the nets about some form of a deal, but the idea that like a Chris Paul Jay Crowder picks deal was actually proffered. I'm not so sure I buy that. I don't think the clippers were in it either. I don't think the clippers were going to put Trey man in a deal for Kyrie Irving. And what else is there? You know, you don't really want Luke canard if you're the nets that doesn't really do a lot of work. So this, I think this deal, given the time constraints and given what the nets were after was the best they could possibly do. Do you agree with that? Yeah, I absolutely do. Especially given what their priority was. Again, players who could help immediately. The Lakers did not have that. The Lakers outside of LeBron and Anthony Davis are basically a roster of 7th 8th and 9th men. They have three starters and any given night who probably would not start for any other decent team in the league. And so they just, you know, if the nets are trying to keep this thing going, right? Like they are still in a strong position in the east. Kevin Durant will be back and healthy soon. They certainly believe they've got a shot to still do some damage in the playoffs and show Kevin Durant that they're viable. You needed players like Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney Smith. There is no two player combination on the Lakers. Outside of LeBron Anthony Davis, who could do what Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney Smith will do for the nets. In the case of the clippers, it's about who they were willing to trade or not trade as you alluded to. In the case of the sons and Monty Williams was just on the record a little while ago out in Phoenix, telling beat writers there that, you know, he's upset that Chris Paul's name was put out there and he doesn't think there's anything to it. I don't think that's spin either. Like I really don't think that spin. Again, I had heard about conversation with two teams, but like think about it like just objectively. If you're Phoenix and yeah, Chris Paul's on the back 9 right now. Maybe the back three at this moment. But like, are you really gonna swap out Kyrie Irving for Chris Paul at the midway point of this season like that? That just doesn't, I can't quite wrap my head around that idea. Neither side of that would have made sense to me, by the way. So in the next case, you get Chris Paul really at the back end of his career showing all the signs of wear and tear. Not a guy who can do the things that Kyrie does in terms of taking some of the offensive pressure off of Kevin Durant because Chris Paul even had his best, was never really a go to score. Phenomenal floor general, but you know, he's wearing down. We're getting close to the end here. So if you're buying yourself time as the nets, he's not buying you much time. Jay Crowder hasn't played in a year, who knows what he's gonna look like. And by the way, as much as he's been at times a very good three and D player, it's sometimes he's not been. Like, I don't know what the next team who gets Jay Crowder is actually getting. So that's not that attractive of an offer without the picks. And again, the picks don't help the nets right now unless they're redirecting them somewhere. And on the flip side of that, the sun's, the sun's entire revival the last few years is about, you know, 20% money Williams and 80% Chris Paul. You know, play with those percentages as you will. It's those two guys. But without Chris Paul, they do not rise from lottery team that Devin where Devin Booker has looked at is just an empty stats guy for all those years to suddenly being a power in the west and a team that made the finals. That's Chris Paul. They're going to trade one of the consummate leaders at the position in Chris Paul. For Kyrie, one of the consummate wild cards. That did not pass the smell test to me. I'm not saying that those conversations didn't happen. I'm not saying they weren't maybe willing to do it. But man, there's something about that just struck me as weird throughout. But yeah, under the circumstances, under duress, I think the nets did about as well as they could. It's hard to get fair value even when a player is not as tarnished as Kyrie Irving is. But getting a couple of players who could not and not just those two players, like getting an unprotected future pick from the Mavericks, given that by 2029, who knows. Luca may be playing in LA or New York or Chicago or somewhere. I don't know. They did pretty well and to have more draft capital to then play with is advantageous. And then I'll just, I just want to add this before I forget. So the deal isn't finalized as of us sitting here recording. Maybe it will go through final while we are recording. But it's not at the moment. I do think they are looking around to see if other teams want to get involved. I have heard suggestions and I'm going to leave it as light as possible so that the aggregators don't go nuts with this if it doesn't happen. I've heard suggestions that the nets are going to try to redirect some pieces to Toronto to get OGN and OB. Now it's not the first time they've been linked to them, so that's not exactly a massive news flash that they might want in an OB or van vliet or even siakam if the raptors would part with them. Would not be shocking to anybody, but I have been, it's been suggested to me within the last few hours that the nets were specifically trying to redirect some part of this trade. In order to loop in the raptors and try to get an anomaly, that would be a phenomenal pickup. We'll see where this all ends up. The bottom line is given everything that the nets have been through. That Kyrie Irving specifically has put them through and given that they now had were on the clock to trade him or deal with not trading him and what he would, you know, who knows what he wears his head would be on Friday if he were still in a nets uniform. They did pretty well into the circumstances. I agree. Be interesting if they can find a way to make it work within an OB. He's one of the most coveted guys on the trade market right now. 25 years old, two way player. Good three point shooter under a good contract at the moment. There are a number of teams that are trying to pry him loose from Toronto. Another tough team to deal with Toronto. They oftentimes find themselves on the right end of a lot of these deals, so we'll see what happens with that. "If I asked him if he could stop drinking coffee and he was like, could I do it? Yes, will I do it no? Do I think about doing it now? This is what he said about playing power forward. I don't care about those speculations. I don't play the floor. I could play the four, yes. If they absolutely need me to play the floor I could. Yes. If they absolutely wanted to have conversation about playing the floor, I could, yes. But I'm not playing the floor. Right now, Caleb Martin is slotted to take that spot most likely. I think he's the Clubhouse leader. They resigned in the season. I think what we like about Caleb Martin young athletic promising jump shooter can really add a dimension to the team so as they're getting out in transition, the heat play really slow. The cons, at least as it relates to PJ is he can't really guard up the same way BJ Tucker could. I mean, like to switch a lot, they would put PJ Tucker on Joel embiid and live with that matchup. They're not doing that. At least not as effectively with Caleb Martin. I don't know that I've really had a chance to talk to you about it, Chris. You know, the heat allegedly in the talks for Jay Crowder, but I don't know that they could make the salaries work for a trade like that. What do you think about the heat's options at that position? What should they do and do you think that it could be a little bit of a death knell to their title host? I would like to think that when the rubber meets the road that Jimmy Butler will play some for. I mean, he did in the play for what it's worth he did in the playoffs. I mean, they would play lineups. And he will do it in the postseason. I think what he's getting at, and I agree, it's not realistic for him to do that full time.

"Crowder last year of his contract, valuable role player with that team the last few years, a proven winner based on where he's been and how those teams have done. Like a mid 30s, three point shooter, like all of a sudden just not there and some of the reporting out there says he was told he wouldn't be a starter, like cam Johnson, presumably he's going to take that role in the Phoenix lineup, but he wants out. All right, you better get real value back for Jay Crowder, because Jake crow is really valuable guy. And I think there is going to be a market for him, $10 million, not a huge amount of money. Last year of his contract, a very movable piece. But they better better get something real for him because just letting him kind of go for spare parts doesn't make any sense. All right, last thing for you. Lonzo Ball spoke this week. Lonzo Ball hasn't played since January. Has had a knee injury that has been as mysterious as any knee injury I can remember in a long time. And in speaking to reporters this week, Lonzo Ball did not sound too optimistic about where his knee is. Yeah, literally like I can't, I really can't run. So can't run our jump, so there's like a range from like 30 to 60° on my knees bent that I have like no force and I can't like catch myself. So I can do those things. You know, I can't play. So I did rehab. It was getting better, but it was not to a point where I can get out there and actually go out there and run at full speed or jump. So surgery is the next step. Howard, Lonzo is talking about how it hurts to walk upstairs at this point. Like, we talked about Robert Williams being yellow alert in Boston. This is red alert in Chicago. Lonzo Ball, not as I said, has not played since January. Has not even, he says, been on the court, hasn't done anything, you know, basketball wise since then. Yeah, he's got to have another surgery. Who knows how long that keeps him out? And look, you can draw a direct line to the bull's rise with Lonzo healthy to their kind of leveling off when Lonzo Ball went out. He is vital to the success of that team. I'm pretty concerned about the health of Lonzo Ball. And I think the bulls should be really concerned too. Yeah, no doubt. His injury history and his short time in the league is troubling. My knees were hurting coming up the stairs today, but my knees are like 30 years older than Lonzo's knees and mine don't have to withstand the rigors of an 82 game NBA season. No, it's tough, it's troubling. They made a big investment in him obviously a year ago. It couldn't get through full season with them.

"There's always a chance it could expand. You could have something where the sun's this guy no longer really fits with us. What do you think about this deal? And then you send this back to us or something like that. I've seen people's annual, what if it was, buddy healed involved in J crowd or in somebody we're headed off to the other way. I think Jay Crowder and Landry shamit, one of the players thrown out their not recommended with thrown out there. So we'll see. I was hoping that that ping was in. It's that time of year, where every time you hear something go off, you rush and you check it out, but that was not it. I was hoping. I was hoping. But yeah, so I'm not sure where this is going to go for now. I think we'll see in the next couple of days, wouldn't surprise me if it's made into a bigger deal where there's more pieces moving around or it could be very simple and straightforward. But I think Indiana now really makes the most sense as the landing spot for 8. Well, let's assume this goes down. Miles Turner for Deandre ayton, the next guy we need to talk about is Kevin Durant. What does this mean for the sons and their pursuit of Katie? I don't know that it really changes all that much to be quite honest. I think a lot of people went initially to oh, Deandre ayton, but there were just a million challenges with 8 and going to Brooklyn. One is, again, there's that base here compensation stuff. Duran obviously makes way more money. Then there's also the hard cap issues because that would trigger the hard cap and the nets are way, they can't even see it anymore. They're so far past the hard cap line. So I think we're in a position where that one never really felt all that realistic just from a salary cap mechanics side. And then we start again reports that nets weren't really that high on bringing in ayton, which I guess would maybe make sense and they did just resign Nick claxton to a nice contract about 17 million or so 20 million if he hits a couple bonuses. So I think what we're going to see there is if that deal still gets done, there are other avenues towards it. It might mean a three for one kind of trade or something like that. But that's part of it and we're hearing through the reports again, Brian windhorst. I believe this was on the hoop collective, but I think you did touch on it on a get up as well. We've heard woj mentioned it is in passing two or in reporting is that it's the market is just not necessarily what the nets thought it would be for KD. They thought there was going to be, hey, we're going to get this massive return and let's go. And I think there's just a lot of complications that I just don't know that some teams are really ready to meet in a Kevin Durant, Kevin Durant trade. I'm going to keep doing the Kevin Garnett. I don't know why. I just have a mental block on that. It's okay. It's okay. It's right up there with how many times we were calling. And now we can do it, but we kept saying this summer when we were dealing with COVID years and it wasn't really the off season in the summer and all that. Exactly, yeah. Yeah, it was like right. That's what it's going to be.

"Would you trade for Jay Crowder? This is another one that's their 6th man. Campaign? You camera pain, you would take him? No, that guy's worse. No, the other 6 man wink. The other guy, kam Johnson, that one, other cam. The good camp. He would take him. Cam Johnson. I don't even say Jay Crowder Matt's probably screaming at his pillowcase right now because he just said, Jake crawler's name. Somewhere, Matt, the optimist. He's like, he just had a 6th sense that just went off and he's looking at her, it's like when a highlander gets near another one or something like that, Spidey says. Yeah, his Spidey sense is going off. He's angry, but he's not sure why, because people are talking about Jay Crowder. He's getting mad. Trevor just mentioned, Trevor just mentioned Jay Crowder. Tony PR with a super chat says, who do you add to the roster if Russ stays? Whoever's the coach, I hope to see some motion offense rather than one V one. If brush stays it's hard to retool. Yeah, so let's say the Lakers. Let's say they hire your guy. Hey, let's say they hire darvin ham. And they say, okay, darvin, here's the keys to the kingdom. You're our coach. Here's a four year deal, but rush stays. Who do you want us to go get to round out this team? LeBron Russ AD, Stanley Johnson, Austin Reeves, when he Gabriel, THT, whatever's left of Kendrick nunn. That's your team. Who do you want us to go sign? What do you do in that scenario? Honestly, probably trade THT because I can't go through another year of watching whoever the coach is try to see if he can make Russ and THT found the court at the same time. It just won't. So you probably trade THT for what, who knows? I still like the auto Porter fit still. I still really do like that. Because austere is rust comes back is definitely probably your two or one of your two guards anyway. Auto Porter, I went to love Gary Payne a second too. I don't think it's going to happen if I would love Gary Payne the second. Auto Porter, Damien, I think no matter what for the most part, the guys you targets are the same, but like, for example, we did that four inch trade. Hayward and Uber then maybe you would target more guards in free agency, so maybe you use that taxpayer mill level on Gary Payne a second. Are you trying to bring back Malika monkey, but I still don't think he's coming back. But for the most part, I think the targets are about the same for the Lakers regardless of if rust comes back or if he leaves. Yeah. The idea is the same. You're looking for three and D style players, two way players, particularly big wings. That's what you need. The answer to how to mitigate Russ's weaknesses is the same. I do agree that if you keep us, you probably need to move THT. Because you're just devaluing them..

"Of offensive thing, like another thing that is an issue for me with Colbert and we talked about this. You remember during the season we had that moment where you were like, do you think would you take Devin Booker and Chris wall over Mitchell and Gobert? And I said yes. To me, there's still something about, I need my second best player or one of my two best players, I need them to be able to do something with the ball in their hands, like down the stretch of a playoff game. And you know, when I wrote about ayton, look at what ayton did in game three of that pelican series. I mean, he was good again. In game four, it was really Chris Paul, who struggled. Like, I think what makes 8 in a max player on a championship team is the fact that he can he has those small flourishes he can add to his game. I don't think in a vacuum, he's a better player than Gobert. I think if you're trying to win a title, you need a center, I think almost more like 8 and then you need to go bear. I think that ayton's wonderful, absolutely. It's also hard to have this conversation because the jazz are like perception of who Gobert can be is just so warped by how bad the jazz is for it or defense is. It's just hard to have the conversation. No, yeah, so if and I know Jay Crowder played once upon a time in Utah. I understand that. But if you had Jay Crowder, Mikhail bridges, cam Johnson, big wing, Tory Craig, would be like a jazz yeah. So I was talking to someone at the game the other night. We were watching on TV. It was like, if the jazz head Dorian Finney Smith, and this is part of their organization's problem, their inability to find a diamond in the rough like that. Yeah. I mean, to that credit, I made the Conley trade when I thought they should have looked for a point guard, and there was once upon a time Mike Conley was one of the best defenders in the NBA..

"I mean, the worst case would be a tech series with the nets where KD and Kyrie just Kyrie does what he did in the 2016 finals for 7 games and KD is averages literally 45 points a game on 60% shooting. That's kind of the scenario that the nets need and so that would be a worst case scenario for the Celtics. I could also see them losing to Milwaukee for sure. Milwaukee's a great basketball team. Brook Lopez is actually looked really good. I think I would pick the Celtics in that series because they have home court advantage. And I think that that would be a grand for sure. Giannis is Giannis. And then the Conference Finals, you might face Toronto for real. I think Toronto's path to the conference finalist is pretty clear. Not necessarily thinking that'll happen, but they've played Miami really well. All season. I think they're going to beat the sixers outright. And if you learn the Conference Finals against Toronto, you got to like your chances there. Again, assuming that rob Williams was healthy. So yeah, I think Boston should get to the finals. And once you're in the finals, I think obviously you can win the title. That's why they pay me the big bucks. Yeah, I think Phoenix is gonna win it all. I know you have a losing in the first round Mike, but they just been too good for too long. Again, anything can happen at one injury changes. Everything, but if we're assuming we're assuming health for all these teams, I mean, they've clearly been the best team in the league all season. Right? Pretty easily. Can I just jump back and say, I'm being a little tongue in cheek with thinking that Phoenix is I don't want it that to be like on the record just yet. I'm getting it after this. What are you talking about? I will say real quick. Don't you guys feel like the regular season? There's like this growing divide between what matters in the regular season and what matters in the playoffs and for the sons. It's like, if a team goes small against the suns, can they go small? Will they be able to flex muscles? And stay big and just stay true to who they are. If Jay Crowder goes cold by the three point line, how much will that impact them if I don't know, something about this team where I'm just like, I'm skeptical.

I can't really think of one off the top of my head, so I should probably say a lot, right? Yeah. For anyone new tuning into the stream, if you haven't been here for too long, this dates back to the playoffs last year. I've just had an issue with him since. And so I'm I told myself then he'd always be my mask to walk. Anytime the Lakers played the sons. And I'm holding to that. So for mind, and this is tough because there's a lot of different somebody said master lock the Lakers for not putting Trevor in the front office. While we won, thank you. Appreciate it. Appreciate that. Appreciate that. But if I'm going to master lock anybody from this game, I'm tempted to say Anthony Davis for his comment before they came about this. And how the sons, the sons, even the sons know that they were going to win? Yeah, I know it was just a birthday. But I can also say, let's master lock the Lakers defense for giving up 80 points in the first half. They only gave up 79, and that's really rude. Okay, maybe I'm embellishing slightly by one point. 79 points in the first half, that's you can't do that. You can't do that when basketball games, your defense has to be better. And frankly, the Lakers, I don't think it was necessarily lack of effort. I do think the sun's happened to hit a lot of shots. There were some moments where the Lakers should have closed out on a shooter and they did not. But in general, you got to find a way to keep yourself in games..

"Now you can't do it with young legs and just energy and all that stuff. When you hit your early mid 30s and basketball, now it's like a work ethic thing. Now it is a conditioning thing. Now it is, I have to keep adding because my body is starting to deteriorate a little bit. You got to get thin or two. That's how Dunkin had that second run or third run. Duncan got thinner and you were like, man, I thought this guy might have been done 5 or 6 years ago and he salvaged it and was still amazing because he goes, I gotta get smaller. Or Nash? Nash is another one. Nash was able to basically go until 2010 when he had a fucked up back because of all the other stuff he was doing. Kobe is another one. Kobe from O 8 to 2012, which is not where he basically should have peaked as an all around basketball player, but he did. You think like athletically he peaked early 2000s. And if you look at early COVID-19 three, it's like ridiculous. He was never the same athletically after that. But he kept adding and he added all the weight and and I'd feel the flip side about Davis. And I've talked about this on the pod where it's like, Davis decided he just wants to be this giant center now. And I think it's a mistake. I think he should have gone the Dunkin way. I would have gone sleeker. Faster versus just trying to turn yourself into 2002 shack. I don't get it. Wow, to Davis, I think he got really sick and hearing about how soft he was. And I think if you're a young guy. He cares. You're Anthony Davis. Don't listen to anybody. 'cause some people care and some people don't. And Davis is clearly a guy who cares. He gets sitting here in about like, remember this goes back to that Phoenix series and him playing when it looked like he shouldn't have been out there and then I think people that were plugged in kind of knew that it was Dave is just sick of watching Shaq's shit on him on TNT. So is that going to go ahead and play? So all of us that want to pretend we never care about what anybody else thinks. Most of us are full of shit, even with ourselves about it. You know, most of us have some part of us that do care about what other people think. And then there's a lot of people that care about everything that everybody says about them. And I think Davis is somebody that cares and that's where I think he just goes, all right, I'm soft. Fuck this, I'm gonna get huge, I'm gonna get strong. And now he's putting together one of the worst seasons, even though some of the other weird stats for AD tell you has been pretty good this year. And I'm not writing off AD or whatever, but it has been a really brutal couple months with shot selection and then the lack of shot making. And the way he moves on a basketball court and I haven't seen him in person yet, which I really want to go to a Laker game at some point because I want to see it in person. But it reminds me of the Red Sox that had Andrew Ben and ten day who is this really athletic, good defensive player, decent hitter, and then one year he came in and he put on 20 pounds. And all of a sudden he lost. He couldn't get around on fastballs anymore. I couldn't run. He couldn't steal bases anymore, moving the outfield the same way and at some point, Quora, the manager got mad about it. He's like, I don't know why he put on all this weight. He changed what he was good at, basically. And the Davis thing, I don't know why. It's almost like Duncan needs to just call him and be like, hey dude. You know, you mean KG couple of us. The reasons we were good was because we were so athletic, but we were malleable and we could run the floor and why are you into it? He's got a way like 272 180 pounds now, right? I don't know, he's huge, but I mean, we have we had a text going back and forth with all first team on the floor. First team calling on the four device Carter all stars? Yeah. Because I don't know who I had. I had no towns, towns is up Townsend Davis or Townsend Davis Davis. I mean when he goes down, I'm constantly like when LeBron goes down, I know he's going to get right back up after he checks for fake blood. I am so crowded. That was another one. Jay Crowder Jake properly first team. When you go to Jay Crowder's basketball reference, you feel like he was 7 times first team all on the floor. Right. He has a basketball camp where he just teaches people how to roll around under the basket for 5 minutes, trying to get a flagrant. Yeah, those towns are pulling crowders. Great Jay Crowder. That was you. I think that chain started because we were watching whatever. So Golden State probably the background was down. Yeah. Back to the Duran thing. It's just such a bummer that this is who he went all in on. And I think he's the tenth best player of all time. And I think if they can make the finals again and however that plays out, he has a chance to move into the top 9 for me. It's just a bummer that he's had two chances now. To really determine where am I going to be and who am I playing with? And the first time he did it perfectly, but for him it didn't. I'm not killing him on wanting to not stay at Golden State because I think he got what he wanted to get out of it. He did three great years there. They could have won three titles. But then this iteration of it, where he goes to this weird nets team, and then now they have this team where they have two guys and a bunch of minimum guys and they're really relying on the Marcus Aldridge in a crazy way. And they don't really have a way to get better. So in some ways, he's like what LeBron is kind of forced himself in a corner to the Lakers.

"And I'm seeing a lot of people saying they can't stand Jay Crowder. Some people they didn't say they didn't see it, yeah, the play went ahead, AD was behind the play when Jay Crowder did this. So, yes, definitely something it's floating around out there on the Internet. You can go check it out, but yes, Jake Crowder very deserving of the master log, not just because that play, but because of who it was with, with Anthony Davis, let's not mess with AD's ankles with his legs like that, just all kinds of just awfulness. From Jay Crowder, there's simply no reason for that, especially in a preseason game. All right, let's see. Oh, somebody said, that's why AD shouldn't play in preseason. Well, I think we're also seeing why he should, right? There's a little bit of rust there with Anthony Davis. He wasn't able to play the end of last season and really be himself. He feels like he needs to get his legs under him a little bit. And so that's why he's told the Lakers that he wants to play in this game. He wants to play in these games because he wants to try to get some of that rust off of him he wants to get into a little bit of a rhythm. And I think he needs it right now. I think he looks like he kind of needs to get into a rhythm. So I understand that, but again, the injury risk always going to be a little extra careful with Anthony Davis. And so seeing that kind of play happen inexcusable. All right, let's do a couple more, and then we'll call it tonight , and we'll get over to watching the Dodger game here. The Dodgers right now still down. One to nothing at the top of the third cardinals have one runner on first with one out 52 pitchers thrown already by Max Scherzer come on, Dodgers. Let's get this going. So many mentioned from YouTube, the suns went zero and four last preseason and then went to the NBA Finals just saying, yeah, I mean, preseason really means nothing. The Lakers historically would lose most of their preseason games. Think about back to the shack and Kobe. Lakers, when they wouldn't play in preseason and the Lakers would lose a bunch because their guys weren't blank. That could very well be the case here. And it's not nothing. It's not nothing. There's things to take away from preseason games, but it's not the end all be all either. Dodgers get the runner out at second, two outs now with a runner on first,.

De'andre eytan makes a couple more basket or something than yeah devin booker elevated superstar. That never now book is still be great. But if the sons lose if milwaukee ahead winds four straight all of a sudden what's going to be the narrative. How can you have a superstar of guys who allows another team to beat the four straight times when you to and then other team come to your home court in beach you regardless of what booker does how in the world can we elevate him superstar status. How can we elevate it. Elevate him to the point where he could be if some other of his teammates were stepped up done what they needed to do. Gained gained five finished things off. Even phoenix comes back to win game five about six hours. Well what could have been if chris. Paul didn't choke the chicken in game four. If de'andre eytan could've played better in gain four. "Well, we opened the show with a mention of the Phoenix Suns Copes and so not necessarily a quality question, but a question. Are you a Chris Paul guy? That's funny is I'm not not a Chris Paul guy I've never understood. I've never understood why. I guess I understand it. Where your fans with just about anybody who's demonstrative like and in your way in the NBA playoffs. NBA Twitter is such a part of this is people get so much vitriol for the NBA stars more than baseball more than football. Maybe it's because you know what they look like. If it's because they're on Twitter more they're more public faces. I'm not sure what it is, but people really do not like Chris. Paul and I've been saying for years. I think Chris Paul is a Hall of Famer and I do think he's one of those guys where every player in the game loves him and respects him and Devin Booker even said it after the game after they won the West on Wednesday, he said, I hated playing against him. But I love being on his team. And he said Jay Crowder was the same sort of guy that he'll talk mess to you, he'll he'll value he'll be chippy. He'll knock you off your block. He'll throw a hip at you. He'll get in your head while sort of playing it the other way to the officials. So I respect his game a ton, But he's not a guy who all when it's all said and done. I don't think I'll be like man. Remember Chris Paul, remember seeing Him play. I just don't have that sort of romance about him, but I think it's kind of cool that he's getting an opportunity to play for an NBA title. Yeah, I remember more for the state farm commercials and the flops than anything he's still on the floor. But I guess that can change. I guess that can change in the NBA Finals. So next quality question for you outside of Shohei Otani and what he has done as a two way star this season. Is Kyle Schwarber's month of June for the Washington National 16 home runs in 18 Games. The most impressive thing you've seen in the major leagues this season. Ooh, boy, yeah, outside of Shohei Otani doing both because it's not just the total is hitting home runs is that they're like leaving the ballpark at 1 17 like off the bat. The The exit velocity off of Tony's bad is insane, Which is why, when, like he swings and misses at a Gausman split finger, he had corkscrews himself into the ground because he swings just so hard house warmer. He was just out there. Yankees could have had him giant's gonna had, um, power hitting left handed bat started kind of slow and is now just on an absolute terror. And I'll say this that well, he's been really impressive and Because maybe there the Texas Rangers and they've been playing the A's on the West Coast. Joey Gallo, while not as long of a streak has been on a terror himself lately, Joey Gallo has been really impressive. And a guy who could potentially get traded in the next couple of weeks so something to keep an eye on, But yeah, Kyle Schwarber just because I can't think of any. Oh, you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna upend Schwarber. I'm going to see Jacob deGrom that Jacob McGrath, Therefore, that was the only other acceptable and that's probably the only other one. I couldn't think of anything off. The top of my head to Graham is the one where I'm like. This is This is the best picture we've ever seen, at least this form of deGrom. Yeah. Okay. Final quality question for you and this is our famous walk one, pitched one and hit one, and when he hit him, he's coming out to fight. We're going to three of the top home run hitters in Major league Baseball this season. Kyle Schwarber will stay in this one. Vlad Guerrero Jr. And Max Muncy. Yeah. Well that the the drilling one is easy. There's all fight Muncie like I'll go. I'm like, Well, he's all those guys are bigger than me. All those guys can take me but I'm like, Who am I going to get the most joy out of getting a couple of couple of kidney shots in on probably Max Muncy? That's probably where I'm going Number one, so I'll drill Muncie. I'm gonna I'm going to intentionally walk, Uh, Kyle Schwarber, because while Schwarber hits like big 10 shots, I think watching Vlady Junior hit is more impressive. It's like more fun to see Right. So like you throw it inside the Vlady junior, he may just crush water. By the way, I saw a note It took he and Vlady senior the same number of games to get to 50 career home runs, which was kind of cool. So he invited senior like I think in a couple of his stats might be better than his dad's, as far as offensive power numbers, But the total number at 50 home runs it was like Exact same number of get 200 games or would have to go back and look, But I saw that note this week when he hit 50. So he and Gladys senior the same, so I thought that was kind of cool man. But yes, well, real real real quick on that. Yeah, real real quick on that. I am loving the footage of Laddie Jr in his little expose uniform, watching his dad in the home run Derby. Now that we're going to see flat E junior in the home run Derby this year, you know that that's kind of leaked out on these commercials. Blatty Jr as a kid, it is awesome. Yeah, I'm not rooting for him, though. I'm rooting for one man. One man. Only his name is Shohei Otani and hails from Japan. Dude, Shohei playing baseball in Colorado. Is there anything else that we need to accept it? Maybe we get to see your pitch and hit in the All Star game. That'd be sweet. Anyway, that's gonna do it for the cops and Crowley Podcast. "Are Buddy. The bloomer. John Bloom. Sons broadcast Team bloomer. How are you today? I am fantastic, fellas. How are you guys cited excited Friday. Alright, so Game three in Denver. Let's chat about this because Denver has been horrific. They thought they could just show up. Hang around the arc. Toss up a couple threes. Think things would go their way and they've been absolutely terrible. Their defense Nothing like the Lakers Suns have just walked all over this team. Alright. So now the next two are in Denver. If Denver wins tonight, it's a brand new series. They're not gonna win tonight. I would agree. I think that you know, the sons have been clear that they are the better basketball team through these first couple of games. Now there's going to be a boost for the Nuggets being at home. 18,000 strong, I hear and ball arena, which, if you don't know that's name for the company that makes the lovely glass Mason jars, which hopefully they will not be giving out isn't give away because I think that's a bad idea. That's a very bad but, yeah, that's what they're known for. I had to look that up. When I remember calling a game there Ball arena. It is appropriate. It sounds appropriate, but it's not. The ball that you think of when you think of balls so now here they are. They're getting ready to go on the road, and they're going to be in a hostile environment. This is an environment The sons have not been. And yet because when you think about going up against the Lakers, they were only allowing 7000 in Staples Center. It just didn't have that same vibe that we have seen and luckily enjoyed here in the Valley with the way that the Suns fans have turned out. I anticipate the Nuggets fans will be ready to go tonight. It'll be loud. They're going to give Nicola Yokich the M V P award beforehand, so to have something to cheer about, for sure, like That's a guarantee they'll have something to get excited about. But once the game starts, I can't guarantee that the Nuggets fans will have something to get excited about because the sons are just playing very good basketball. Go ahead and give that M v P to him because I think the sons will look at that and say, Probably the guy who's over here deserves it more than you. Right, And we're not too happy about that. So you know what we're going to do. We're going to take it out on you. Yes, so they don't have Jamal Murray. It's like it's like one of those things where I mean and you know we had become here the other day from Berkeley Morada and he said, Look, you know, as you compare him, he's there. Devin Booker. That's a big loss when you're missing something like that, because it's easy to look over again. We got the Joker here, yoga. Let's just let's let's see what the other guys can do, or Or we'll just let him score, and we'll make sure nobody else does. Either way. It's a win because they don't have that second outlet. Exactly, And that is a huge thing to go without. So you're combining the fact that you're missing your number two or the Robin Two jokers Batman and you're talking about a team that played all the way to the finals of the Western Conference in the bubble in October. Remember that went all the way to October, then had to make the quick turnaround and their M V P. Nicola Jokic played in all 72 games this season, so there is a fatigue factor that clearly shows so far. With the Denver Nuggets through these first couple of games. It didn't show as much in their first round series with Portland. But the difference there is the Portland Trail Blazers are known for a lot of things. One of them is not defense. They just do not defend, and they did not defend all season and they didn't defend in that first round. And guess what the Nuggets are dealing with now a team that flat out D's up that sons can play D. And that's weird thing for Planet Orange to say, because over the years of being Suns fans, for many of you people listening in the audience, I'm sure you never once said. We got the best defensive team left in basketball. Right now. You can say that with a straight face about this basketball team. No doubt the bloomers joining us John Bloom, the Sun's broadcast team and the sons will tip off in Denver against the Nuggets. Um do you know Jay Crowder? You know, I know his work. I'm very familiar with his work. Is there anything you could get a note to him? Because I don't know. I just want him to know that he's my favorite player. I just want to I just like, Is there a way that you know you could deliver like something? I just want him to know. I mean, we don't have it doesn't have to come on the show. We can get that across. I want him to know that I absolutely love him. And I think, you know, I think that'd be a nice thing for because everybody always likes Booker or they like Chris Paul. I like this guy because he's just he's just nasty toughness. He looks at people when he's defending them. Like they just murdered his cat right in front of them. And so I love Jay Crowder. So I'm going to give you a little you know, I'm going to write a little note to him and I want you to get it to him. Okay? I don't have a question. So, uh, there there tonight. This is the first time for look for a lot of these players..
