Jay buckey redback with you here for the take away episode fellows. What's going on so good. Menace such crazy. So somber buck. Where's the excitement none for one. I didn't. I wasn't even anticipating coming to me i but i just think it's just such a crazy time like i'm seeing these teams. Just completely fall out of contention having games on the control and so i'm still kind of blown away from west on over the course of the weekend. Well i mean like this is why we call it the wild card right because it is going to be wild in week seventeen. We've got five wild card spots. When you combine both conferences that'll be up for grabs three teams that are currently in the wild part of the afc. All of the same records is a ton of different variations teams and seedings in a team. We thought was probably firmly in the culture now on the outside looking in. It's the there's to be some fun here. We seventeen as a result of what we saw here on. That's a crazy weekend as we're just getting ready to start here. We got some more interesting news here and that is the washington. Football team is cut. Dwayne haskins the they have moved on taylor heineke. who was the covert emergency quarterback..

"And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and bucky brooks what's up everybody Jay Buckey here move the sticks and Buck I I haven't been traded have you been traded no I'm still I'm still here still hanging you know but I keep looking at the phone wonder I'm talking about Jalen Ramsey Marcus Peters those moves that were made we also saw Corbett get traded to the rams they try and beef up their offensive line busy day on the phone there For less need a bunch of other names floating around there pretty intriguing as well so have some fun talking about those recent trades one of our guys we've both been discussing lot lately off off the Mike and you're fascinated by culture builders a team builders and guys just know how to get it done no matter where they are and Matt aw who inherited a complete mess there at Baylor has this team undefeated in really turn this thing around quick fashion bucks so we've been talking a lot about him and pump to have him on the show today get to visit with them to be exciting I really want to kind of dig into him because this is the second time he's done he did it at temple obviously coined a phrase temple tougher mini go to Baylor and to inherit what was left behind by art browse into scandal and the situation there to get those guys up and going after starting what one in ten one in eleven and then find a team that is six zero now speaks volumes about his ability to understand culture and how to build a team no doubt we're also going to have hits and misses as we've been doing recently get back to that we're going to look at the twenty fifteen draft so get that in your head as we get to the a little bit later on the show hits and misses a player I got right a player I got wrong saving figure out who we're talking about and then we'll have some questions you guys have been leaving us a ton of reviews on Apple podcasts and dropping questions in there we'll do our best to answer as many of those as we can at the end of the show today I do want to thank you guys for doing that if you haven't already please do a solid get on their leave us a rating and review on Apple. PODCASTS if you have a question drop it in there and we'll see if we can get an answer for you all right buck let's jump in I hear Jalen Ramsey just your thoughts initially when this went down man I think this is the theme for this Season Gentlemen is general managers have to make a decision do I value players do picks we've seen in pulls scenarios where teams have to make a decision would I rather get a blue chip player that I know as a blue chip player rather hold onto these picks and hopes of getting the same kind of player down the line and we're seeing these teams that feel like they're close they're close to being a a a title contender they're willing to take the proven player we so with Houston Texans when they made the move for Laremy Tunsil we saw with The rams making this move for Jalen Ramsey even saw with the Seattle seahawks making a move for David Clowney teams are willing to look at what players have done in the league and they're saying I would rather take this guy over what could be down the road and we'll see how turns out but I actually liked this move for the rams because I know it doesn't solve a direct issue that was plaguing them but I do believe he gives them a other premier player on their roster another premium player at the position that he plays and ultimately when you're trying to build a championship team the more blue chip players that you have the better it is is for you to be Jason The holy grail you know it's it's really an interesting trait to me for a couple of different reasons now first of all start with what I love about it what I love about it as well I value the corner position I think it's important you have corners to me I look at the left tackle where I look at it rushers and I put a little more premium on that so that to me is something I I don't think that position typically warrants this type of compensation terms of trade so that that's the downside of it the analogy that I'll use book is this I'm not a big NASCAR Guy I know you grew up in North Carolina and went to school in North Carolina so I think we've come in in contact with it at some point in time this feels to me like they went into pit row and they took two tires and then they bounced there's it is quality over quantity and we WANNA get back on the track and we're going to try and win this race now other teams taking a little more patient approach they're going to get their four tires going to fill up the tank and opened eventually they're going to catch up and they have more sustainability I do think there are some risks there with doing this because you've eliminated some of the some of the picks going forward but it is of it is a star league and if you feel like you've got some star players now can that make up for some other roster deficiencies we'll see I I just don't know if this offensive line the way it's constructed right now is a championship offensive line when you look at the last couple of years look at the Eagles offensive line loaded you look at last year the Patriots off the way they dominated very good group I don't necessarily put this rams group with those look I I understand where you're coming from him in both points talked about the left tackle on the edge rusher those being premier positions or positions that you really feel comfortable if you're gonNA make you go and get that and that corner may not be as ah you'd I will kind of push back and say that I believe that cornerback is probably more valuable now than ever given the shift that we're seeing quietly in the national football league with more teams going to man to man when you look at the teams that are at the top the New England patriots will kind of be the gold standard because right now they are locking people love to playing great defense are the reason able to play great defense because they're corners can play man-to-man Stefan Gilmore being the God is kind of leading the charge when you look at some of these other teams that are playing a really good defense to San Francisco a forty niners are playing more man demand and not blitzing bringing extra pressure to Detroit lies playing really good defense playing man to man I think the rams are looking at the league and seeing you're not going to be able to beat these top teams playing zone coverage and even oh marcus peters was not necessarily zone cover guy he was added preferred to play off he would give up too many completions in front of him to give the quarterback and easy way out they want to someone that could be A challenge the receivers more of the line of scrimmage what Jalen Ramsey can do and then when you talk about the Nascar analogy you talk about going to Pirot and making the decision do more quality or quantity do I will offer we're done or do I just want to get to and see if we can ride this out and win the race before it all goes out I think that's what the rams are doing I think that's kind of been their strategy going forward they are going to assemble as as many acquired many blue chip players as they can and they're basically are willing to auction them off so last year they made a move for markets Peterson with all they're gonNA do it in a deal where they got rid marcus pitas before they ever had to deal with the end of the deal and maybe just maybe for Jalen Ramsey maybe this is just an expensive rental car maybe this is one where they rent but they they never own is at least own deal I have to do in college when you got your furniture they get them maybe they keep him for four calendar year in the next year at the same time maybe they spin them off and get some of those assets back if they see that they're not going to be able to resign them I think we're less need and Sean mcvay in these guys are doing is they're trying to build the best roster for the hearing now and and I don't think you can argue about Jalen Ramsey being a top five player one premier players at his position it just doesn't impact or upgrade opposition knee which is real office a lot but I don't know what else was out there for them to upgrade that outside of trump Williams being potentially available in Washington if they weren't trying to make a deal I don't know if they could go in solve that via trade I think it's interesting though it really is you have teams and forget the word tanking I just think you have teams looking at short term and you have teams looking at long-term and how they how operating right now it's the you know to me you look at that trade with Khalil Mack who obviously the raiders got ripped for all the raiders are playing the long game and the bears haven't got to the finish line yet they have right now teams not looking so great so now you have of a raiders team it's collected going with the quantity over quality approach and right now at the racing over we don't know you know we know Khalil Mack but the bears haven't really won anything they don't have they don't have a super bowl title and the raiders are playing that long game we'll see who which one of these teams has a chance to get to the finish line it's the same thing when you look at Houston look Miami's doing Houston being aggressive Miami obviously being a seller Jacksonville being a seller it's GonNa be interesting to watch this after this can these guys get to the finish line with these aggressive moves yes so it's funny I had a conversation -secutive yesterday oughta drive we were talking about a Jalen Ramsey deal any say what you have to do is when you're making these moves you gotta look at Jalen Ramsey versus the twenty twenty class and twenty twenty one class you gotta look ahead and see okay if we are the LA rams say we finish in the twenties what potentially could be there would rather have Jalen Ramsey or player twenty two in the two thousand twenty class would I rather have jalen Ramsey or player in the mid twenties in two thousand twenty one if I'm saying that Jalen Ramsey is a better player then I'm willing to go all in and look at first pick doesn't mean as much because if we can say the Jalen Ramsey will upgrade to the point where we're going to be one of those teams only in the playoffs but maybe we're in the final four when you're talking about twenty nine thirty thirty one thirty two that plays a second round player so to get Jay the Ramsey for essential really a second round pick that has value and so look all of it requires some risks is just a matter of what are you willing to take on when it comes to certainty the certainty I'm willing to bank on as I noted Jalen Ramsey is a good player I've seen a plan is league as a great player there's some people who are willing to bank on the rejection the potential that another player prospect is going to be a really good plan to League is a gamble either way no look I praise the.

"And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and bucky brooks everybody what's up Jay Buckey here move the sticks and Buck we got a lot to get to today a little little bit. Nfl a lot of college especially focusing on the quarterback position man you know the back prospects but we're GonNa talk about a guy who may have gotten brushed under road last year Danny Daniel Jones I was about to call them Danny we'll talk about what he is the second start taking on the Washington Redskins we also touch on a little bit about Melvin Gordon but as you laid it out we got interview from Gary Anderson but this is all about the quarter let's talk about the guys that we see bubbling up at the collegiate level those that don't know Gary Anderson the head coach at Utah State his second stint they're going to have a fun conversation with him about the culture they have a great culture that Utah State he helped build spent sustain his absence and you're seeing them but very competitive very good football team right now and they're lead by one of the top quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft should he choose to enter it in Jordan love who was a very intriguing prospect we're going to break him down as a player talked to coach Anderson about what he sees from him not only on the field but what to expect from him off the field so really do a deep dive on Jordan love and then talk about some of these other quarterbacks leave right now as we sit book there could be as many as six first round quarterbacks in the upcoming draft that is a big number but we'll make sense of it all later on show I promise you but let's get some NFL stuff here before we jump into the college Tank here Melvin Gordon showed up for work thoughts yeah I mean look he look I mean I don't understand like why he took so long he basically forfeited a bunch of money I guess he made his point to the League into the teams that he felt like he should be to your one running back and paid as such however I think this is situation we really didn't have the leverage unlike the other guys where the team was really dependent upon running back runningback driven squad when you talk about Tiger earlier even level or Zeke Elliot when they got their money is is different Melvin Gordon is very good where I wouldn't necessarily say he's a great player I would lump in that category but he is someone who can make plays with the ball in his hands whether it's running now catching the ball out of the backfield he has been a very dependable in quality starter for the San Diego chargers the issue that you have in San Diego or not in La the issue that you have is when you look at their team. Their team is really driven by number Seventeen Philip rivers is a guy that kind of drives the bus so Melvin Gordon is always going to be viewed as a complimentary player when it comes down not too Dolan are cash and at some point you have to pay rivers again and I just don't think Melvin Gordon is special enough to command to count the money and the kind of prestige wjr that he wanted which is why I knew this was going to be a tough one for him to win out and ultimately he came to assess his and came in but they'll think that he can do going forward is to ball out because when you have people that are viewing This is a situation where aided in missing Ecuadoran Jackson taken over I think Melvin Gordon has to show the charges the difference between I mean what they had the first couple of weeks of the season and what they have when number twenty five runs back on the view it is interesting I mean this chargers team that sits at one two thereafter five point two yards a carry their running backs in Austin and Justin Jackson have been outstanding and played a very high level I'm interested to see how the we'll get to divvied up carries get divvied up with Melvin coming back in obviously he's the he's the most talented of the three of them but I wouldn't say the other two are throwaways he's a really good players and think it'll allow them to release him in it sounds like brought not gonna play this week it's too quick turnaround against the dolphins turnaround come come back next week I would imagine you'll see a somewhat of a limited role I don't I don't know that you necessarily want to put a lot on his shoulders because you don't necessarily need to with the other Baxter having placed book now you don't need to put a heavy workload I I think the difference in Melvin Gordon and the other guys I think what it ramps up. I think the thing that we've seen with like number one why receivers in franchise quarterbacks in the like when you separate rein them from the others that play those positions the special guys are able to consistently show up week after week after week despite being kind of the object of the defences attention they still find a way to get it done I think the difference in Gordon an extra and Jackson I believe he's going to fare a little better when it kinda comes down the stretch in everyone's beginning to eliminate your top threats I think Melvin Gordon has kind of more tools in the toolbox that will allow them to be a factor in the game plan maybe look the chargers losses this year they've they've had Leeds in have lost lead so war is I think you you look at that chiefs formula we were discussing the other day throw the ball runner race out of the passing game in the second half you're running a little bit more not now not only do you have kind of a hammer there with Melvin Gordon you've got three guys you can rotate and the way I would needed is if you if you watch baseball and you see you guys that have been in the starting rotation and throwing ninety three ninety two ninety three and a half to sustain that they got a government but in order to sustain that velocity for seven innings then you see in the postseason they throw some these starters in the bullpen and that guy that was so ninety two ninety three now he's throwing ninety six ninety seven he knows he can cut it loose he's only got to throw an inning that's what happens when you have a stable back so you can really get out there and get carries man you let it loose they can they can play four loud in terms of like Max maximize the opportunity when it comes to Melvin Gordon Melvin going to me it's still a got it as a fifteen seventeen touch per game guy that provide it's plenty of opportunities for Jackson Equa to get on the field to thing would be how did you chargers want to use it we talked about the form with the candy chiefs throw early run late For the chargers they gone to operate under the same premise they'd like to get Philip rivers going get him lathered up get that offense out play downhill is what I call meaning make the other team chase points where plays to your defense his hands with those paths for should Bosa Ingram you want to jump out early but then at the end of the game you need to be able to kind of control the amen run out the clock that's Melvin Gordon has to be a factor and so those must have runs I think he's an upgrade over in Jackson when it comes to the gotTa have it must-have type place in the end of the Game Melvin Gordon is someone that I think you can depend on which is why we will see his value we see them value him more as he Com's guy that is Kinda the closer for this team when they had opportunity to win games in the last four minutes and you don't want to win games you look at the schedule here at Miami this week then at home versus a winless Denver at home versus a winless Pittsburgh so the chargers despite missing a whole host of players a half a legitimate shot here to roll up three wins be sitting at four and two which I think they would gladly take knowing that eventually hunter Henry's coming back when James is coming back you're hopeful maybe Russell Kuhn's GONNA end up coming back Michael Davis a corner that's out Trevor Williams the corner they're going to get some of these guys back in the mix so if they get out to a foreign to start that'd be a excellent start considering the circumstances it would be an excellent starting in just so our listeners can understand we talk about breaking this season up into quarters I'm coach will tell you all we wanna do is at the record if we can post a three and one mark we're right on track and so if you're the charges you're trying to get to the midway point at six two so being able to run out to a foreign to start that were Kinda put them on their way and we know look if you go three and one each quarter you get to twelve and four year guaranteed to probably get into the playoffs and game and maybe you even end up as the top seed in the AFC and so despite all the injuries discharges still have a chance to kind of climb their way to the top and put themselves in a position to challenge Kansas City for that division title starts right there with the Miami Dolphins so you can't afford to lose that one there on the road one other NFL game want to get to before we jump heavy into rush Daniel Jones getting his second start we already stated our case the other day about how we think it should be a rookie rookie matchup here with Wayne Haskins as we're recording this we don't know necessarily that's GonNa take place but just on Daniel Jones buck second start you've been in the League you've played it you've scouted it you've seen what happens with quarterbacks and the adjustments that get made on the defense the side of the ball what what what the expect here teams to adjust with Daniel Jones in the lineup week to get be interesting to see how the Washington redskins elect to attack Jones in a second start no saquon Barkley puts even more pressure on number eight to kind of carry this office the one thing that we've talked about with Danny Jones what we liked outside of the leadership stuff what he brought as an athlete his ability to make plays as a runner and they'd read option game as a guy on movement and boots this is but also being able to just kind of scramble in the pocket breaks down it's an added dimension that you have to defend the problem that he has now this week is everyone knows to saquon Barkley isn't it. so all eyes will be on him the game plan would be catered to really stopping him in the things that he showed addicted really really well last week against the temporary book and is so how quickly can he adapt and adjust to what the risk is throw out at him whether it's high pressure whether it's making them through against coverage how quickly Is he going to be able to adapt in the game data determine where the jazz successful but by all accounts I've liked what he's shown through the preseason and through one regular season art we'll see if he can kind of keep it going against Washington redskins team that desperately needs to win I'm GonNa give you the name of a rookie for the giants that needs to play well for them to be successful it's not Daniel Jones I'm GonNa say Daria Slayton saw him when he was put in the lineup and Gotcha and seeing for the first time that speed we saw it auburn it showed up on me off-field against Tampa had a big game there and I think you mentioned those adjustments buck no Saquon Barkley it just reeks just you can see it as far as the as the I can see they are going to get up into these wide receivers they are going to put numbers in the box they're going to try and completely Pressure Daniel Jones with no fear of the run game and I think what you're going to see now is Darius Layton he's going to have to make some plays down the field over the top of coverage in in order to try and loosen things up a little bit yeah absolutely I think this is a game Ashton risky and do you know you don't have to worry about Saquon Barkley being in the back you go all out to make Daniel Jones uncomfortable and with the weapons that he has on the outside I don't know if you is a game changer in the passing game so you WANNA press those guys up and see if they can win consistently their one on one match ups and so why you're challenging them on.

"Jay buckey brookshire back time now for big story. Let's move to the n._f._l. We're running backs have seen their position devalued in recent years but but now appears. They're actually trying to do something about it. A new organization called the international brotherhood of professional running backs has filed a petition with the national labor relations board board asking them to the group b. split apart from the n._f._l. P._a. and recognized as a separate union just for running backs. This sounds crazy easy but i love it you love. I love it because i think running backs have been done unfairly by n._f._l. Rules and the way they've changed the game. No one has has been looking out for them and i don't blame them for going this route. The league is exploding with money and their position keeps losing value and worth less money and the game is screwed up and running back is still the most exciting position in the n._f._l. It's a reason by ticket and they're treated like they're treated treated worse than kickers tremendous story. You're so exactly factually correct. <hes> you know. I got awesome numbers here but i'm gonna get you with this. I it takes me to a bad place. It takes me to the quarterback club. Remember those days i was going to say okay. I'm sorry notes the elitism that they were trying to create. We're bigger than y'all and now they're running. Backs is sitting on the flipside. Y'all trying to say we less than y'all but in reality -ality. How do you materialize that. Conversation is story to a coach who said i rather use my receiver giving you. I rather thought a short short pass which is with less diversity than the long run. How do you translate this and monetize win. The runningback franchise number has has been going down of late but going up next year is going up almost to the tune of one and a half billion dollars what about the other people who are lesser on the totem pole than running backs up by position. You want to talk to a safety anybody safety union out there <hes> tight ends. Y'all wondering union to special teamers. Y'all need a union too so the thing is i understand. It's not a one size fit. All policy quarterbacks are getting the lion's share all the love but to sub unionized unionize and now say we have these factions within the union. I don't autumn other positions. You name never carried league walter payton. Jim brown gale sears barry sanders. These guys carried the league at one time and safety never. It's a new day brother this the problem. It's not a crazy idea. It's it's actually a brilliant idea is just never going to happen and not so sean i. I don't think it ever happens because you're talking about. It's probably fortify fortify. Maybe a handful of guys that are in a position where what i don't like about it is if you're a first round pick pick up that fifth year option. They gonna run into the ground rounding. Get rid of you in so there needs to be something done about this. These guys are doing the right thing. Melman gordon ezekiel elliott ho now the thing with ezekiel elliott if you stay out of trouble you probably gotta deal you <hes>. It's the points you made..

"And now move the sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks everybody what's going on Jay Buckey here. Move the sticks. The draft is behind us. And buck first of all it's great to see a second of all. We've got lots of talk about. Maybe we have we have a lot of talk. Whoever let me commend you. I man you such daunting task to handle all the stuff that you'd handed for three days. Dear being the lead analyst handling all of that. You've got a cast of characters around you you, obviously you're having to do a lot of the heavy lifting. And I thought it came off really really well watching it being able to watch it on TV because we weren't we were only doing a recap show back here. It was great to see. It was also great to hear you give perspective that is a little different than a normal perspective to be able to talk about how we go through the process and the room to talk about the decisions, and why people were picked, and why may make sense, even though you may or may not have liked the player like how matches up and I think that is. Like what you were able to do. And I hope we are able to do here on the podcast because I thought it was a great extension of the conversations that we've had in the past. I'm first of all very kind of you to say that I'm glad you mentioned the thing at the end though because I feel like when I get to the to the draft this year. Specially man I feel like the scenarios and the conversations that would come up our stuff that we've been talking about on the show. If you've listened to move sticks podcast, you know, we've been debating and discussing stuff for months and why okay, that's and that to me look this and we'll get into the players here. But I I just want to touch on this real quick because I think different people have different thoughts on what you should do in the roles that we find ourselves in where we're analyzing these picks and players, and I just think of two things in scouting we're taught what can a guy. Do. Don't tell me everything. I can't do what can he do? Yeah. And I think that's what our job is. Okay. Anybody sitting and say this guy does not fast. Okay. Well, here's how you have to use them. Here's what he's gonna do. I think the way that I try and do it is. Look, I didn't have him rated this highly. But if I'm the New York Giants, for instance, we've talking about Daniel Jones, which will get to he's my fourth quarterback. I would have gone in a different direction. But here's why I think they did what they did. Absolutely. And that to me, I think that's what that's what our job is. Not just here's what I think. But no, okay. We've been in front offices and certain teams stink differently. And this is why I believe they did this. Will it be correct? None of us can say right now because none of us know, that's we'll find out overshadow. No. And I think that is the thing even of late in the last two or three years for myself to try and get out of oh, if you won't meet agreed like a lot of times people grade based on how they view the player, and I don't know if that's necessarily the right way to do it. Because what we can't always get behind a curtain. Why did the team do this? Like, I thought it was we'll use our former colleague Mike may. Yeah. I think there are a lot of people that. Why would you take him at four? But then as you look at the entire package of what they finished. There was a theme there, and he talked about foundational players guys that not only had exceptional talent. But they had the right stuff inside meaning to football character. They played hard. They did all that other stuff. And then when you go back, and we talked about the stories because we're previously some of the stuff that other people may not when we did three sixty. We heard Farrell story. We heard his high school coach talk about him. We knew about some of the other guys Josh Jacobs. We know his story. So now, you begin to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together. Like, oh, this is what they're trying to create in their locker room. Yep. They're trying to flip the locker room where it's more of a blue collar low. We go to work to toughness planing. Yeah. We're going to work. Yeah. And that to me, and that's the raiders perfectly. The interesting thing is, and I got some blowback on that the blowback I got was well, then why did they trade for Antonio Brown because he doesn't fit with what they're trying to do there which actually is not right? Like he is one of the hardest now. Today. First round guy. Yeah. Self made. Yeah. He's he's he's a horrid working. He's dead. The other stuff is not necessarily becoming of what they want. But they're willing to trade for a little bit of that pop for the work and how he's going to kind of set the table for the rest of the guys. Yeah. But yeah, that's I'm glad we had this little discussion here because I do think this was a draft. And and I'll give you another example. We'll get to the top of the draft here in a second. But some people they put out NFL research put out like my biggest reach based off of how I had my top fifty. It's is it fair to you. Because you like them to at least consult you before it's fine. It's fine. I put my name on it. I stand by my top fifty. But the using the word reaches just why have a problem because I'm not I'm not ranking my players based off how they fit with my invisible team. I don't have a team, right? I'm grading on based off a generic league evaluation. That's how I see it. Now, if you're the Atlanta Falcons and you want to run a lot outside zone. Chris Lindstrom makes sense. Yes. But if I want to try to run. Gaps game stuff and knock people off the ball. That's not who he is not what he does position blocker. So to me I am a little bit lower on they took with the fourteenth pick. Now. Even if even if I'm zone team that's a little bit rich. What you have to get inside the head of these teams in what they asked the what are they going to ask these guys to do. They're not gonna ask him to do something that he cannot do. No. And I think it is really important a rose on the day like my top ten best fits, and it is based off of what we've always talked about. The toughest part of evaluation is determining how our player a prospect fits into a scheme. And so then you go back, and you look at which players fit and schemes, and I didn't include calamari and cliff Kingsbury. But now, you can make the argument like, okay, I can see why they did it because he wants to guy that can fit the scheme that he desires I thought got like Taylor up going to the LA Rams because you have Eric weather who I've compared wrap to in terms of just a way to place. Yep. It makes sense. Benny snail going to the Pittsburgh Steelers James Connor we've we've talked about that like like. Cervone certain guys fit certain teams based on what you know about him. I actually met and we'll get to this the trace McSorley pick to the Baltimore Ravens like we we've talked about so many of these things like that is when it came off the board. I was like that is exactly what we've talked. If you're going to go all in your entire quarterback room has to be full of those guys. And now they have it the March Jackson or trace McSorley, we're just gonna have a pipeline. Those guys the interesting thing will be in four years when the more Jackson provided he plays. Well, what is the move on? But so so that's what's what's the end game is in LA college. Hey. You graduated piece we got another one coming. And you know, like, you do wonder because it is something that is really interesting will eliminate the question. What do we do when he get the second contract? We're not going to give a second. We go to ground because we know it's another position can file and it's easy to find those guys colleges pumping them out in the other. Guess it's so true. The other one like the Baltimore Ravens. They took Dalen MAC. My comparison Dalin MAC was Pierce for for the ravens. Yes. And pierce. I believe is a free agent after next year. So there's some of these guys were just like, okay. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We talked about it Quantel Zander. They lose him free Kwan what you know, what if you go to a store, and they by a nice sweater. And it fits good you go back to go back to the same store and get another sweater. When that one moves on your retire. That's what are you? Go back to LSU get another one model, and that's what they were able to do. And there were a lot of people there people's Dale Jones, by the way, they went shopping at the Manning's Mannix, and they did and if anyone has an opportunity to read ever breer fees when he talked to David Gettleman, David get them in basically said that like look here new. There's a lot of stuff you've got to be able to deal with it. And we seen how allies so we wanted someone that kind of fit that mold. So it it may sense. And we talked about can't which is talking about earlier to with Devon Bush. We had said

"jay buckey" Discussed on NFL: Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah & Bucky Brooks

"The sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks what's up everybody. Jay Buckey here. Move the sticks as we inch closer to the two thousand nineteen NFL draft book what's going on not too much getting closer you're talking about a couple of weekends away. From finally seeing what's going to happen with his draft. And I think is just really really interesting to close it every get that kinda just turn out Fahd. I can't call my guys getting a bunch of bad information. Look silly. So I make phone calls. But I know not to take it seriously because they're just trying to float balloon. This is unfortunate that time of year that time of year we've got a ton of ground cover egg talk a little bit about Josh Rosen who reporting to the off season program for the Zona cardinals in reports that he was first one in the building. What does that mean going forward look into that going to look at the first round quarterbacks from last year? Look at those teams Brown's jets bills cardinals ravens, and what they potentially do to help those guys or help build up that team this year and look at maybe a free agent running back. We could find that we think could be this year's Philip Lindsay as well as an interview with one of one of my favorite players in the draft. Or no you enjoy watching as well. Jonathan Abram there from Mississippi State book. Yeah. Jeff Abramson, man. He little salty into make room today. Challenge you challenging everybody. Really? I love that say he he wanted to know about who's more important rushers cover guys not told him rushers. Yeah. Like that believe in today's game cover guys this great. But no, we don't. Like you have to be able to get to the quarterback. And and those things and then what does he say, he he's he's fun, man. He's a lot of energy, man. You can tell he is a hitting do because when you see him of person he is a thick do neck, dick, everything. And so just interesting conversation at one of one of the fun players studying this year's draft. So got chance to visit with him world that interview little bit later on the show before we get to the stuff that I just mentioned though bucket. I do wanna bounce this thought off of you because I think this whole draft kinda hinges on what happens with Josh Rosen. And then, you know, kinda got three points to me in this draft. Josh rosen. Does he get traded? Does does that going to answer the second one, which is this Kylie Murray? Go number one that'll that'll put that to bed and then to me the next kind of pressure point of this draft is the giants. And what do they do? Do. They take a quarterback. Do they do? They wait take quarterback at seventeen to they take one at six. Do they not take one at all? That to me is is kind of an interesting. Layer to this draft in we talked about it on path draft last week everything that's been out there saying defensive player at six wait for the quarterback at seventeen and look I've I've said the same thing because that's what you hear. And then as you kinda get time over the weekend, and you look at things book, and I'm looking I'm gonna k the difference between pick six pick seventeen. This is not. But but it's not like you're picking two and thirty two like to me if you are going to take a quarterback. I think he's good enough at seventeen just take him. You take you'll always take him at six just take him. Why would you believe that in the hands of somebody else to say that you don't get it can be too rich? How many times we said it's too rituals quarterbacks in the top ten, but if you're gonna take him at seventeen in my opinion, you should take him at six and the other side of it is if I'm the giants it would behoove you to get it out there that you are not going to take one at six you're going to take one at seventeen because then nobody leapfrogs you at six to take the quarterback. Yeah. My crazy. But I'm just looking this. You're going to quarterback. They're taking them in six. You're not crazy. And we've talked about this a feel like in this is when we do so many draft shows and episodes kind of runs together, but we talked about this if and I'll just use Dana Jones as the example, if Danny Jones, you got thing going get you and you can't worry about what the outside public says. What everyone if you believe that he is again, they can start and be your franchise quarterback make the move, and you got to be willing to stand in it. You know, what you don't wanna do? You don't wanna you don't wanna pass it six. And then all the sudden you couple maybe a quarterback to start to go. And now you're having to trade draft picks to go from seventeen to come back up to take the quarterback and those players can help you. And also, we we've done this. We talked about it being in close to BUSTER or where we're in meeting rooms, and you look at what's to deeper pool. Yeah. If you look at what is the deeper pool between two quarterbacks in the Pash. We say, okay. Their pass rushers where seventeen you probably can get a guy that is maybe not. A maybe plus. Yeah. And so you're gonna get burned. Just right. So so you get so then what you do is what we've done in terms of like a can get bucket. A which is maybe I get Danny Jones and Brian Barnes or whatever. Or I get bucket be which is resigned. Gary. And maybe you might miss out on all flat. Oh, no. And so it is better to just say look, this is that we want. We don't get him. And I'm a love I'm not a big fan of like some people like to trade and get cute, or whatever I wanna give the guy that I want because I want him. I think he's gonna help us. And I have a great that matches. What we expect he will be for us. So I'm gonna do it. And I'm not gonna worry about it. Like, I'm not gonna worry about what everyone on the outside says because it really doesn't matter as long as it works for us. Absolutely. So anyway, that was I want to get that you're so so now it's funny that you say that about this most green and just wanted to put that out there because I believe there's another smokescreen to takes place in this kind of. Go with Josh Rosen reporting to Cardozo season. And according to the Twitter verse he was the first one win. So how about this? How about the reason why we haven't heard Josh Rosen say anything because he hasn't said anything throughout this entire process that he supposedly being shopped or different we're calamari maybe the cardinals. And Josh Rosen are on a deal. Maybe they told us eight gestures. What we doing? We will flow and see if we can get out of this number one pick see if we can pick up some extra picks and do some other stuff, and maybe they're trying to entice team like the raiders to move up to number one. Because maybe their coach has fallen in love with calamari because when you start to really think about this. Some of the only reason we're really saying calamari goes to the cardinals is just a click Kingsbury come from October. There's no real tangible evidence that says that the cardinals are not believing every deport ways with Josh Rosen. There was nothing that came out at well. I. I would I would add to that. Steve time was asked pointblank is Josh Rosen your quarterback, and he said he is right now. Yeah. But see also wonder is that playing coy is that him being. Whatever. Because man most people though, and this is my argument to that is there's nothing more fragile than a young quarterback in even if you tell him that to not just be one hundred percent committed to him and not even when I'm gonna play games. We're not mess around doing it. He is our guy going forward. He is going to be the pillar of our franchise. We're going to build around him. I think the ego of in the the got to be careful run a young quarterback, man. Well last year, it is fragile. But then if you if you don't candelight pain to picture that we're going to get someone that maybe highly desired, then there's no opportunity for you to come to auction off the number one pick. And I know like what they do in. The media doesn't really matter. Like is the back channel phone call that you have with executives or whatever. But you would like to think that if I'm going to come to build it up. So I can kind of bait somebody into coming up that I have to use calamari Josh Rosen as debate, you know. See

"And now move the sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks. Everybody was going on Jay Buckey here. A little move the sticks action going on. But we've got we've got some NFL action. We've got some college action. And we've got a fun guest today. Yeah. We have really guest. Jordan. Palmer is going to join us to talk all things quarterbacks. And look he's a great expert having worked with all these young guys not only the guys that we're seeing the young guys in the pros, but the young guys into pipeline. It'd be interesting to get his take on some of the guys that we work together with doing lead eleven process. Yeah. We'll do a little progress report here on some of these young rookie NFL quarterbacks. And maybe get a glimpse of what's to come here. And this next quarterback class looking forward to that conversation there with Jordan Palmer, but we've got to start things off as we always do book at this time of the week and that's going through each game own the NFL weekend radio. Yeah. Before before we get because the first game, we're gonna talk about we'll be the same sort of bingles. But I want to get your take on. What do you think about the Dez Bryant signing? At this time of the year. Like, how do you think impacts to saints? Have you been port when you're a Baltimore Philip did you ever sign in vet in the middle of the season? It's kind of push you over the top. Yeah. I can't remember, you know, this is kind of a new development. I think seeing this much movement. And obviously does Bryant wasn't a trade was assigning. But seeing this much movement in the middle of NFL season. I think that's relatively new over the last couple of years didn't used to see much of that. But to me, this is I don't know if there's I don't know if they're sixteen games that Dez Bryant could go to and have a big time impact. I really I really believe that. But I do think there's a couple of teams that fit him beautifully, and he can't have an impact in. And this is definitely one of them. Because what is the knock? I mean, you've said at numerous times and knock on Brian is he doesn't create any separation. So you need to be playing with somebody that's ridiculously accurate because you don't have a lot of space and he can make contested catches..
