"Bank. USA Salt Lake City branch. So what are your thoughts on this. NFL season. I mean kind of watch what what happened and kind of watching the running back position. Because it's there's a lot of discussion. There's a lot of debate. Levian Bell said he really wanted earn a contract for the position. Obviously we saw todd. How'd girl and get paid? I mean Zeke Alley got paid. What are your thoughts on where the market of running backers I think When you have guys like Derrick can we do what he did? This end of the season into the Post Season Ryan Does a very well for us as running backs on The worth on it just showcases. You know the the elite elite talent that he is and what that elite talent can do At that position to help the team you know trying to get to that goal so Knows exciting to watch for that Mostly exciting to see you know. OUGHTA OUGHTA running backs I think it was a great year. running-backs stern loss Having success even watching these playoffs both teams running backs. I know them both personally. And in that both Permitted talents. Who are going to change the game rebuffed team so they've been doing all season so it's GonNa be exciting to watch These two teams together Should be a fun super bowl to give him any advice on on running in this stadium like this is really fair. They both note that we we were all in his not. Like this is crazy. No for Damian now telling is crazy how will work man you doing the full circle. They're practicing dolphins facility. We used to play a practicing. You're going to play a super bowl in the stadium that you used to play a man on another team. So why is crazy. How you know the gang the NFL the businesses? And you know fortunately for done to get to the plan the biggest game should be fun. You mentioned you know how you guys were on the same team. Ryan Tannehill obviously had a great postseason. Derrick Henry has well I went to Texas am. He was our quarterback when we were there was a wide receiver at first. What was it like to watch him? This season this playoff run and everything he because he was somebody there but it kind of written off you know before the season began then. Marcus Mariota got bench for yet tenuous. Someone who I always you know I really respect. The tiny are perspective this game on. I was really excited for him in my last year in Miami before I got traded not off season. We were really doing well in before he had toys a Seattle and I felt it was just unfortunate. He had like a few tough injuries. ICL's ACL's So you know for him to just get titans in for the time. Just be Ryan him to just take over that team and really lead in you know. Just be the quarterback that he knows he could be in Way was able to do and achieve manuals amazing and so I was extremely happy for him. I think that is a long time coming in his case from to have a season like he's had in ending pro bowl than all that so you know congrats to talion. Hopefully now it can stem into more for him with that team and do you think the titans because they've got decisions to make. What's what's Tannehill with their Henry? Do you think that bringing it back in bringing the whole group backs the best way to go I mean they went to the game before designer bone in so I mean his not. They got something good working over there. You know there's no reason to to break when you're in my opinion so tell us about your fashion line. Yamen is called yet stands for your unlocked role. Pilot Yes something that I've been working on. is more even than fashion alliances or call it like a brand You know something. I'm building Like a company as well To be able to just have a an umbrella to create and innovate in. You know. Do Things Underneath Something that I'm passionate about And I've been enjoying it Something I tried to do on my off time so your twitter is jade train. who was running back at Texas am by the way also played for the Dolphins Devorski Lane once upon a time but yours is J. "And I think it's just, you know, believe in mine, you know, everyone just believe in them, and they believe in themselves. You know, he's been there before he's done it before. So it's like the complete composes. So I mean, you saw it on the fourth-down throw the golden and all that, you know, very composed and just you know, we can just count on him. So I think it's just about everyone just doing it. So you know, then nine to thing and let's play team bowl. You know? I'm excited to see what we do. You guys got some characters in that locker room. You know, some guys in that office of line that like to talk you brought in golden Tate this year, who do you think is the biggest character in the eagles locker room? They'd just character of. I mean, you've got obviously you've got Chris long. Long. And I think those two guys sure, you know, up the absolutely been mean, we've got Jalen with the green hair, and you know, Kelsey with the with the suit of Super Bowl. So we got we got a lot of great like you said, we go great personalities locker room with with makes it really fun. You know to play with those guys. Being in the locker room. That was the one thing. I miss the most. There was always a great stories about guys going after each other especially in training camp. You gotta good stories from the eagles locker room where guys are just going after each other either after practice or on those Friday afternoons when everybody's got a little bit more energy and a little bit more time on their hands. I would say, you know, just I mean look at our own line and d line of those guy across the board. We got some beach, you know, so those guys are always getting into it from BG and laying flats and toasty. You know, he got TIMMY on the line to with big Brooks. And and all of those guys there's no it's a constant battle in training camp..

"So with that being said a defensive coach as much more capable because he's much more used to being in that situation where you have to motivate guys every single day, and it's much more Rah. And I think that's why typically we've seen CO types come from that defensive side of the ball. But I think when you're hiring a head coach there's always a question Mark when you're hiring defensive guy the question Mark to me is does he have an offense of mind that can run a good cutting edge, creative detailed offense. When you're hiring, a young offense of mind. The question is does he have the leadership motivating skills to be able to get through and motivate those guys in that locker room that made it a lot of times. That's your receivers. That's guys on the defensive side of the ball. Kenny managed Kenny lead. Like that's the question, Mark. So no matter who you hire even okay, let's say you hire Bruce Arians type. The question is is he still young and hungry enough to lead and make the sacrifices that it takes to be a good head coach, soap, right? No matter who you are you got question marks. You just got when you're making that decision decide art am I comfortable enough that this question were Ken get answered even though I don't know the answer right now. I mean, Bruce Arians is a. He sold me a dream. He told me the only head coaching job. He went was the Cleveland Browns. He said that about. About the cardinals. And he said did you did you guys also see Mike McCarthy? Now had a thing where he's like the only job. I would like to be considered for is the jets. Okay. That's the only one where. For me after the Browns, essentially, put his interview on hold cracks me up. I did find that pretty funny too. I Joe the phones are ringing a man, I think we got a call coming in. We got my man. Jay jiji. Join us here on the Tomahawk show. Jay how you doing man on good? You guys for having me on the show today. Of course, how how is the knee rehab. Come on. No you you injured yourself early on in the season. Obviously, we can all see the the disadvantage the eagles have been in without you in running game. But tell us give us an update on how your injury rehab is coming been going good. You know, I had surgery in the middle of Cobre some coming up on about three months now. But yeah, just put my head down and grind in every day. And you notice excited same time just because you know, much instead in the mix, and so I'm just sharing on the guys. And you know, it's just a helps motivate me, you know, they want to get back out there on the field. So it's just been really fun. How did you get down to New Orleans, and and you know? You know, this this win involved. Have you been with the team? I know I've been on. I r once in my career, and I tried to stick around and help the guys as much as I could with film and getting prepped and some of the practice stuff, and I still traveled with the team. So how involved have you been since you've been rehabbing that ACL? Yeah. I mean. I mean as soon as I told my ACO, I basically flew out soon Florida's or surgery, and then you know, for discussions with how. And everyone's they kind of let me be would see come out hits in Los Angeles. And do my rehab with the person that I wanted to basically, do my issue we have and so because of that I've kind of been away, you know, living in California now, but what I've been able to do is. I don't know if that's going to bode well for Aaron Rodgers. He interesting. He I disagree. I think Aaron is going to like that because he's going to have answers for everything when he goes out there. But the the cool part about that Kyle Shanahan offense is that's the foundation. But then from there you can build on top of it with other things. And that's what's great. I think to me about Aaron and Matt coming together as both those guys have backgrounds in very different offenses, and I think you can mesh and Mel those two together very nicely. And I think even though you're going to see most of the Shanahan concepts in the offense. "Look at cliff Kingsbury, you talked about the McVay Chery on on Twitter a little bit Joe or the quote unquote, Shanahan tree that you said it was also Bill Walsh's tree, which I said was choose really Paul Brown all browse tree, which is ultimately, Adam and eve street. It goes on. And when it goes back to Abraham in the aisle goes back to the man upstairs. So we talked about the tree of like off its mind. How do you feel about that term because for a while was defensive coaches that everybody was looking through as their head coach? So I I feel like on the Tomahawk show. We were the first ones that said, hey, you really wanna look to make an offense of mind your head coach because in today's NFL it's so offense of driven. It's a quarterback driven at least in the last. I would say seven to ten years in the NFL. You gotta have a great offense. If you want to have consistent success, all NFL owners GM's. They're looking for consistent success, right? If you have one or two bad years to get fired. So you got to be consistently good. And you can't do that strictly on defense because in order to have a great defense. You gotta keep eleven players together consistently because an offense excuse me. A defense is only as good as your weakest link. If you can't stop the run teams are going to just run the ball on you. If you can't stop. The past. That's the worst case scenario because teams are going to score forty on you every single week. If you have a quarterback there's no defense for a good quarterback. But throws the ball on time where it's supposed to be accurately. So that's what everybody is searching for because once you get that good quarterback. You can do the Aaron Rodgers and pay him thirty million a year, and you can get a couple of weapons around him. And you're going to be good pretty much every year that leads to job security that leads to a happy fan base. Life is good. So we hear on the Tomahawk show running knows that and said you need to hire a ofensive mind who has a good smart offense of system who can groom your quarterback who can turn it into a good offense. Because if you try to do the defensive approach where you make a defensive coach your head coach as soon as your offense has success assuming hire good offensive coordinator. Now that offensive coordinator is going to go and become a head coach somewhere else. And you're stuck with the Atlanta Falcons situation where they had Kyle Shanahan his offense coordinator, he leaves? Now. They're stuck do we want to keep the same offense, which was wildly successful. And. Bring in somebody else to try to run Kyle's offense, which never works. Or do we make everybody learn a different offense and hope we can get that magic again. So because of that everybody's going with the offensive head coach mindset recently, but I will say typically in the NFL and in life like the stock market. You're rewarded for going against the grain for doing the opposite of what everybody else is doing? Why is that it's because once everybody's identified the few things that are really valuable now that that market for whatever that is becomes too hot. It's like the dot com. Bubble or the housing level Twitter account, whatever. Yeah. The Natalie least like that. So it would go against the ground paying too much for that asset whatever that is. And I think Bill Belichick has been a great coach through throughout the years for doing that very thing. He identified early on that everybody was playing four three defenses, and you could get three or four Outside Linebackers for really cheap guys that were good that could play and. So he started the three four defense as soon as everybody switched over and realize, oh, the three four is better. Now, he went back to the four three because he realized he could get four three guys cheap. So anyways, the long story short with all of that is right now, it might be a good time to look for a defensive head coach because nobody's valuing it. And you might be able to get a really really good head coach all Bill Belichick who can put in place a really good system who can develop a good offensive system around whoever you have with smart offensive minds that he can groom within that system..

"Dollars saved for free agency to spend a has looms and the ownership group that wants to spend that money on offensive line. That was one of the best offense of lines down the stretch of the season a defense that can ball out. Do. This is outrageous had this job is. And now they've got a guy. That's been there. And that's been doing that for the last few games as the head coach get him the statue right now things one it's only going to take a playoff appearance to get them. The statue we go to the playoffs. They're going to know. I think The the. expectations of changed. All of a sudden, I don't know he'll have a stash you halfway through his first year as a head coach. When they they went eight games. He's getting the statue. Now, I'm kidding about that. But you my favorite part about what you said they had an owner who's willing to spend money when I signed with the Cleveland Browns. You know, what has quote to me was when we sat there and we met. What was he said it may take a year? It may take three years. It may take five years. We're going to turn this organization around. He's saying I promise you, this ain't like any place that you've probably been to or seen. We ain't trying to win the cap cut. We're gonna pay for whatever player that we need to bring in here. I'm like not trying to win the cap Cup was the most gangster thing I'd ever heard in my life. Like, I wou I would left that meeting and wanted to get that tattoo on my neck. I'm like yo that if that is a baller. I dunno. It changed my mind. I'm like, you know, what I got to set my goals. I because I need to be able to spend money like that. I'm not trying to win the cap cut, buddy. We're shooting for Super Bowls. We gotta get Sashi Brown here. I know he's he's a friend of ours. Would love to have him talk about his time. But one thing that was sort of an unintended consequence of his time in Cleveland is the one in fifteen in the Owen sixteen that was so painful, I think so much more painful than anybody could have anticipated including the has after talking with them. They were so. Miserable during those two years that now I think what that means is now that they see they can taste that success. And they've seen a little bit of it. They're willing to do anything. Did it right? It makes you so hungry from an ownership standpoint. After going through the misery of one in fifteen and no one sixteen that even though those pursestrings were pretty loose before hand because when they took over that a lot of money that they could spend on this team. And then they were motivated to make the Browns of winter that one up by like fold when you go through such pain. And this is just going to be outrageous. They're gonna make it rain so hard and free agency. Make it rain on anything that can get them over the hump. And we're so close man, Joey honestly might get a call. I don't know what they're going to bring us in do. But if they're spending money, I feel like we've got to go get some more of it not playing. I'm okay with that one hundred and thirty seven pounds. You can do nothing for the Cleveland Brown. Golly. They'd be better off with Bob Wiley slot right now. Then me out there trying to get open and he's in the hospital, but I just talked to him a couple of days ago. He's still rehabbing his surgeries from that dislocated ankle. So his hover around probably moves much quicker than you do right now. He's put it that way easily. This is the Fisher podcast of Bob Wiley. So, you know, Bob, we hope you get better soon. Man, we love you can't wait to have you on. Well, I think that does it for our breaking news now, let's get back to our already recorded podcast that we interrupted. Well, how do we feel about the NFL's knew who we went an offense of mind trend in the NFL like, obviously people are knocking that store. Dow, but you.

"Listen, we've got breaking news. We interrupt this program to let you know that the Browns Chris Chris Mortensen. The more report is reporting that the Cleveland Browns are going to announce Freddie kitchens as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. A lot of things I'm not even saying this, right? Because for context, we we film this podcast a podcast was done. And then the news broke. So we are adding this and Freddie kitchens is the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Joe Thomas, give me your immediate thoughts. Well, another head coaching vacancy that yours truly has correctly assigned the coach to I'm starting to wonder if maybe I'm like, the Scott Boris agent, NFL coaches because I just keep getting these things right? But all joking aside. I think it's a tremendous higher. It seems like it is the perfect situation for everybody in that organization. They've gotten a chance to see FREDDY kitchens. His personality. See how we leads see what is offense looks like. And they've gotten a full year trial run, which is great. You know, I think when you hire a head coach there's so many unknowns. But when you hire a guy from within your organization, a lot of those unknowns are gone out the window. Now, clearly when he takes over as head coach it'll be a role he hasn't had before. So there's still some some question marks. But it's going to be a lot less than if you go outside the organization and hire somebody. Plus they've got an opportunity to keep this momentum going the momentum that they build during the season the goodwill that they've built between Freddie, kitchens and Baker Mayfield. This gives Baker and opportunity in a second season not have to start all over again with a new head coach in a new offense. And the big question that remains for me is who is Freddie kitchens going to hires? His defensive coordinator Gregg obvious answer is going to be Greg Williams. It's always a little bit tricky when you interview somebody for your head coach or when he's been interim head coach to go and basically. Demote him and put him back to being defensive coordinator. But a guy like Greg Williams who has as much experience as he does in the NFL who's been a head coach before who seems to be very happy and satisfied in Cleveland. He loves Cleveland. He loves coaching for the Browns. It seems like him. And Freddie kitchens worked really well together. If anybody could make it work, you would think Greg Williams would be the guy that could step back and become that defensive coordinator again and keep this good feeling moving that they've got right now in Cleveland. I think it's good. And maybe that's what sucks so long. Maybe they're trying to work that out like maybe they're trying to secure great Williams, the defensive coordinator to stay there with Freddie kitchens. Keep things in place. The Browns played really really good down the stretch. And for a guy like Baker Mayfield who broke rookie records and exceeded everybody's expectations. It was super important to the organization to keep that in place keep that environment where he thrived just the way it is give them another year to develop give him another year to grow build the chemistry with the coaches with the players and everybody who bought in. And things are looking up with the Cleveland Browns. I'm really excited about this higher. I think they made the right move. We said it from the beginning that, you know, it's a it's a hard hard thing to winning Cleveland as two guys who played for this organization who are still very close to the organization. We've seen coaches come in and out players in and out for an office guys in and out in no one has had the ability to successfully win in that organization. So when these guys put together the resume they did at the end to show. Hey, we have the formula. It's hard to go against that. You don't go outside of that. And go higher known you go with the people who have proven and have on their resume that they have one in Cleveland. Yeah. We got a Baker kitchens in in in Cleveland, just the way it should be just makes too much since the thing..

"He is the only coach who has ever. Interviewed on Tomahawk. But he's he's a coach slash player because he's a former quarterback. But yes, he is. Now the head coach of the Zona cardinals. He was let go by the Texas Tech. What is their mascot, red raiders? They are the red raiders Texas Tech red raiders he took the US of coordinator job. And now he will be the offense of mind, Ben mentors. Josh rosen. I feel a couple of different ways about this. And number one being again, I'm a big cliff? Kingsbury clear biased. I yes, we're super bias. But it's clear bias I said that a long time ago. Like, I just feel like the dude is really really good with quarterbacks and overtime the quarterbacks that he's kind of he's coach. And he's he's a mentor have done really well in the next level. So I think that that means something I think he's going to do well in the cardinals job that being said, I do feel weird about Steve Wilks only getting getting one year at it. And getting five years should when we know. But that team was terrible. It was going to be terrible. And. And the results were going to be the result. So I think you can do both. You could still say it's stupid that Steve Wilks got fired in this bull. And also that clip Kingsbury is probably going to be pretty good with Josh Rosen. It makes me nervous though. Because the the Rosser is not that much better right now. Now granted they're going to have great draft picks at least high draft picks. They're going to have some ability to spend money in free agency. So they can make their team a lot better off season. But what I saw from talent perspective on that team right now, it's not very good. And even if Josh Rosen improves by leaps and bounds. They're going to they're going to struggle because they don't have much of a good defense right now. They don't have a lot of players around. Josh Rosen that can help him and being a second year quarterback. Even with a quarterback whisperer behind you. If you don't have the talent around you. It's a really really tough road to hope. Yes. And I wanna make sure the audience knows this. We are taping this Wednesday morning. It is eleven o'clock eastern time right now. So there has no there's been no breaking news about who is the Browns head coach. So just in case we put this episode out. And then they announced that that Natalie least get hired as the Cleveland Browns head coach, I wanna make sure that everyone knows we did not get that information yet. "Juice because of that trade deadline. That's looming teams have until four o'clock next Tuesday to figure out if they're all in for this season or they're rebuilding reloading slash tanking and looking headed next season. And normally the NFL doesn't have a lot of action with the trade deadline like baseball or basketball does but we've had some trades lately. Last year yet Jimmy Garoppolo Kelvin Benjamin Jay Ajayi. They got traded midseason. We've already had a couple of trades. The Cowboys picking up Amari Cooper saints. When after Eli apple and the Jags got running back Carlos Hyde. We'll see if there's any more impactful deals looming and one game shouldn't have this much impact. But it will. Let's say Denver loses. Does denver. Make a move Jacksonville. Jacksonville loses. Do they make a move because this is a Jacksonville team that we thought well they're going to get back to the FCC title game. I don't know if somebody's. Piece away from the Super Bowl. And that'll be the key. If you're there as a team that's on the cusp, or you're already firmly cemented as a playoff team. Is there a piece that can help you become even better, and maybe a favourite here. That's what I would keep an eye on. You know, do the Rams do something here patriots. I think nobody's talking about the patriots doing something patriots would be a team that I would keep an eye on here. They already have Josh Gordon know they made that move earlier. But I think the patriots will probably be doing something prior to the trade deadline. Yes. Mclovin. Patriots need running back defense. I feel like they find these weird running backs, but Michelle kinda gimpy birkhead coming back. I don't you know, Sony. Michelle was not serious though. Yeah. So I I don't know if that's going to be a, you know, it feels like defense might be something that they would want to pick up something, you know, that'd be where the patriots go in and go let's see what we can get. What do we have to give up for Patrick Peterson here? Now, that'd be a patriot move here. I. See where you're going. So a big piece like that. I mean, they could be all in on something like that. What kind of poll question, you think in here? Mclovin. Well, I was wondering off last night's game. Who is for real in the NFL, and I'm gonna give you this sorta four and three five and two area. Okay. Texans. Okay. They've won three in a row. Yeah. No, no five zero five hundred. Okay. So they've they beat buffalo with that quarter of that Nathan Peterman pick six game. Yeah. So I'm just looking at the the schedule here of who they are. And I know you got to beat the teams that are in front of you. But I just don't know how good they are by the way the Texans losing will fuller for the season as a tours ACL last night. And so you you've do- beaten some teams that aren't very good. I'm looking at the schedule here, and they got a scheduled. It's pretty conducive to make an a run here winning winning that division and going to New England and losing in the playoffs. Like, they always do. But let me see the last CB Jacksonville beat Miami beat buffalo, those are three teams that have shaky quarterbacking situations you did beat Dallas you beat indie in overtime. You start out the. Season where you lost a New England, Tennessee and the giants the giants at home. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm looking at the schedule here. They got Denver Washington. Tennessee cleveland. Indie jets eagles, Jacksonville the way they're playing now with that schedule. You know, they could be the team to beat in that division. And maybe maybe put together, you know, eleven wins. But this is the Shawn Watson that last year we fell in love with then he got hurt..

"What did you what do you take out of a game like that in week, three of the preseason coach? Well, yeah. First of all, I take away that you know, our defenses. Obviously I in a good spot right now. They they've played. They put well last night and and really they for the most part of played pretty well throughout preseason. And sometimes defenses are head of offenses at this point, but they're, they're playing extremely well. Special teams. I thought had a had a had a better night last night. You know, our coverage units. We missed the one field goal and and I still got a lot of confidence in Jake but are covered coverage. Teams did it. They're really nice job last night, and then offense really, you know, you know, we're just missing missing too many pieces right now. You know, we're missing guys like al-shabaab Jeffrey Nelson Igor and some of our top top playmakers and Corey Clemente. Jay Ajayi and. You know, Darren sproles so it, it's tough. We're playing a lot of young players over there on that side of the ball and and which is good for them. They're getting a lot of a lot of work and a lot of time and you know getting some valuable experience out there. And so that's that's kinda kinda my takeaway. I, I'd love to have a little more, you know, a little more fluidity on offense, but sometimes that's that's what you're dealt as you go into these preseason games bombing to spare you the Carson Wentz question that I'm sure you're getting every minute you're having, but that said I will. I will tweak it a little bit here because when do you expect this doctor coach owner quarterback, I guess, situation to get together and make a decision when you when you peg that coach? Well, I just think when whenever whenever we get to that point, I mean, it's, you know, Carson's doing doing everything he's asked to do, you know, obviously this is this is a medical decision and and time time. Is, you know, the the, the biggest healer and predictor of a lot of things and and I wanna make sure that Carson is is is a hundred percent before before we stick them out on the field. And before we make this decision and and you know, put them back out there. So I can't tell you exactly when this is going to be, but hopefully hopefully it's in, you know, in the near future. All right. Fearless. How an underdog becomes a champion. Doug Peterson, new book, the coach and author himself here on the rich Eisen show what wad you decide to sit down, write a book coach. Well, you know, at first when the when the idea was was brought to my attention, I was a little bit against a project, you know of this magnitude because it takes a lot of time and it takes time away from, you know, family and work and things of that nature. But then I looked at it from the standpoint of, you know, I'm a very private person, my family and I and we don't put our stuff out. We're not on Twitter's and Instagram's and. And you know any of the social media outlet. So I felt like this would be a great way to sort of get my story out there and people could get glimpse of kind of who I am just a little bit and and you know my little bit of my life story from, you know, sort of being an underdog backup, you know, roll type quarterback throughout my career and then and then obviously, you know, through through the Super Bowl last year. So looking back on it, I'm glad I did it and I'm excited for it and you know, can't wait for people to to read it and tell me what they think. Well, I mean one of the stories that you told in the book that certainly got a lot of ink this week is you watching the AFC championship game in your, I guess, in your office prior to the NFC championship game, watching a knee being taken by the Jaguars before the first half against the patriots saying, quote, you've got to be kidding me now and how mad that got you and saying, if they lose this game, this is why sure enough. They would go on. To lose the game. Did you hear Doug Maroons reaction coach, you know, I did. And others say this. I mean, listen every everybody's different and a lot of respect for Jacksonville..
