"Has to work. It does. I think it will. The dolphins were third last year in blitz rate. At 33.3%, which is interesting because a couple of years ago, 33.3 was middle of the road. Yeah, the ravens were close to 50%. And round river verit told me a couple of years ago that that's the goal. You want to finish with 33.3 because what am I missing, right? You want to play man? You want to use your man packages a third of the time. You want to use your zone packages a third of the time and you want to use your pressure packages, which are a combination of those two things. A third of the time. And that was always his goal to finish at 33.3. But now Ron Rivera is in the low 20s. The jets, I think, were the low at 14.9. I want to say the Bengals the year that they made it to the Super Bowl were around 13%, which is crazy low. They rushed the quarterback a little bit more on this one, but pretty much it's like Boyer, it's Vance Joseph, but it's Wink Martindale at this point that are the only guys that are really rushing the quarterback anymore. Yeah, it's gonna be, it's gonna be a much different dolphins defense. And again, look, they had their moments last year, but overall, I think they were probably a relative disappointment, especially the offense, obviously took a step forward under Mike mcdaniel. The other thing about a Fangio defense is he had really, really rangy linebackers in coverage. When he was in Chicago, he didn't quite have that in Denver, but he had really, really rangy safeties, two really good safeties to work with there. But, you know, it's sort of one of the Staples is sort of making those look so blurry and cloudy for the opposing quarterback at the intermediate level. Javon Holland is really good, very versatile. I don't know. They're linebackers are more kind of patriot style linebackers where sort of big thumping guy type of thing. I don't know if you'd call any of those guys. Coverage specialist. Sorry to Andrew van ginkel. I know it's going to say well that's what you're saying about the dolphins linebackers. Apologies. But that's another spot where. Before they put the money into the edge rushers, they invested in the cornerbacks, which that's a blitz heavy defense. If you want to invest that kind of money in quarterbacks, you can do that. Does even Howard is still really good. He was banged up last year. I don't know if he quite is going to be the guy he used to be and who knows what you get from Byron Jones at this point. I mean, the guys who are playing across from the avian Howard are really third and fourth caliber cornerbacks and that's part of the reason didn't work last year, but it's just it's a shift in resources somewhat subtle shift, but it's still, I mean gosh, you really got to pay for that stuff up front. Yeah. Who knows? I mean, he's been versatile. He's featured different roles everywhere he's went. But again, did he get the most out of chub and von Miller in Denver and are you now going to get the most out of chub and Jalen Phillips in Miami? I don't know. But it's certainly an improvement there. They paid through the nose to get them. I'm pretty sure he's going to be the highest paid defensive coordinator in the NFL. And boy, that guy has some options. This off season. So, you know, good for him. We'll see what happens. D'amico Ryan's takes the job in Houston and we'll give the caveat you're never exactly sure whether a great coordinator will translate to a great head coach, there's also some sort of warm and fuzzy feelings with tamika Ryan's being obviously I'll call him a Texans great. We're speaking in relative terms here. It's a franchise. But yeah, I'll call him a Texans great here. Those are all really nice, but just on paper. I mean, what he did schematically in San Francisco and yes, it helps have Nick Bosa, but they were still really good when Nick Bosa missed time. Or was maybe neutralized in some games. And obviously he just is a guy who commanded a ton of respect in the locker room. It all adds up to a guy who should work out here for a Houston team that has a chance to really turn the corner. This off season. Yeah, I mean, I think, I mean, boy, that again, you want to be weary of saying that there's a slam dunk higher in any cycle, but man, I mean, I think what a victory for the Texans that they were able to lock this in. Because and probably if you're D'amico, right? You're probably thinking like, I'm not too worried about caserio at this point 'cause, you know, I think at this point, I'm like, he's way more important to the franchise than caserio. He's a franchise legend. He's got the respect of everybody there. Everybody knows him. All that kind of stuff. And so I'm probably not worried about getting run over by the GM at this point. You know, there's less of there's less of a threat on that front and you get to come in and you get to be the culture creator day one, you get potentially the first pick at quarterback. You're going to have guys that want to come down there and be on that staff. I mean, the last few years, those players just weren't coached well. I mean, you know, you can't draw top assistant coaching talent. Pet Hamilton's good. You know, some of these guys are good, but is he going to be in your first 6 or 7 choices for OC? Probably not. Like, you know, let's just be honest. You know, he did a good job with what he had, but I think that D'amico is going to have the choices. He's going to have the options. He's going to have the draft capital. He's finally going to have the free agency stuff. This is where it starts to turn around. I mean, the Texans, at least from my understanding, we're telling candidates that we're interviewing last year in the year before that this was a three year deal. This is going to be a three year journey in the wilderness. So D'amico's first year is kind of the year that you're coming out of the Woods, you know, if you win four or 5 games, that's great. And then I think you're probably ready to take that next step in just an awful division where you're going to get Jeff Saturday twice a year, baby. So, you know, possible. We'll

"Buffalo is pretty healthy. Miami's not. We have a dolphins team in its current form with a below average offense when Skyler is running it. And that's compounded with injuries. And a defense that's below average and dips even lower on the highway here. My instinct said, if you started Skyler for every single game with the current injuries and the defense on the road, you're looking at a team that's going to play potentially like a two, three, four win team here. That's ugly. I was going to actually ask you that question. You know, when you look at the way the dolphins are currently constructed, obviously forget the fact that they're 9 and 8 and those prolific offensive performances, where you guys would have them rated. I think that's mind boggling for me so I can only imagine how the listeners are respond hearing how poorly the dolphins get created out when you're talking about a third string quarterback weapons that are dinged up, offensive linemen that are hurt and a secondary that would struggle against some vertical passing attacks at the high school level the way that they're currently built. Yeah, I mean, even those guys, xavien Howard knew the situation last week, played extremely well. He's not a 100% healthy. Javon Holland, playing through some injuries. He's not a 100% healthy. And so the dolphins haven't had good success stopping the bills anyways. And now you have some injuries to the secondary and guys that are that are dinged up. And so this is just not a good match up here. And you kind of felt it last week. Sure, the dolphins got a bigger win for us. Then I think it was for the dolphins candidly. Now, perceptually, it was awesome for Mike mcdaniel, get his team in the playoffs, get the dolphins to the playoffs, kind of get the negative narrative out there that he could potentially be canned after one season, which would be the dumbest move in the history of the sport. But there was very much this vibe and sense where it's like, yay, we made the playoffs. There is zero expectation to do anything past that. Because internally, they know how beat up there. I was just happy to hear pain in the wake of the jets parting ways with Mike Lafleur that one of their top candidates for the offensive coordinator position could be none other than Daryl bevel. So I mean, that was the real highlight coming out of that jets dolphins game and everything that we saw in full last Sunday. If Mike mcdaniel got fired, he would immediately be the jets OC, and would be causing terror on the dolphins for the next couple of seasons. Gotta be careful how some of those pieces come together, but obviously a successful season for the dolphins. They exceed odds makers expectations you'd like to see them have more than a puncher's chance. Number suggests that this game could be over sooner rather than later. From early Sunday in western New York into Minneapolis, where the Minnesota Vikings in the New York Giants will play for the second time in the short span of four weeks. Both teams enter this game pain with negative point differential this season, the fourth ever playoff game with two teams doing battle that have a negative point differential. And it's the Vikings. They feel good favorite. Total on the game anywhere from 48 on the low end upwards of 48 and a half. We know about the Vikings charmed existence so far this year, 11 and O and one score games. Most one score wins in a season in NFL history. Also a little bit of uncharted territory, only the fourth time that you're going to see rookie head coaches, meeting in the postseason as well. And when you look at the first meeting, the Vikings slip by the Giants, 27, 24, it was a Greg Joseph 61 yard field goal as time expired.

"Win 27 7. So he may as well just hand it to him already. Send Lombardi trophy to western New York. For Monday morning as we always do we'll kick things off with the good the bad, the ugly. We'll get to a couple look ahead lines, although there weren't major market adjustments around key numbers. A little injury update from our man D PAC and of course an in depth breakdown of a showdown in the AFC north tonight between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns. But pain. I'm looking forward to that. I think it should be a lot more compelling than what it looks like on the surface. Let's put it that way. Although the way it's being bet from the people I've spoken to around town, they may as well not play the football game because the bangles win this going away. But we'll get to that at the end of the show. Good the bad and the ugly, always where we like to start things on a Monday morning and I'm going to give you first honors. I appreciate that. First off, the tea box. Let's go with maybe some low hanging fruit here because I watched this game. It's close to me. We bet the first half over. Let's go with tua and the dolphins offense. And I know you think another part of that game was vital and caught your attention. But let's start with the offense there. And you look at the metrics, right? I get that the lion's defense isn't any good. But you think about the dolphins organization and past years. They've just never had the offense to catch up, you know? Not a lot of imagination or creativity or just any ability to really battle back from being down double digits multiple times. And you look at the importance of that game. Miami is either going to push to 5 and three or they're going to falter to 500. I really thought that was a game offensive performance from them and chase mode. Final three quarters to a had a positive 0.66 EPA per drop back. So basically any time tool would drop back to throw. Those passes were almost yielding .7 points each time and to this point to a number one in EPA plus completion percentage above expectation for 8 weeks for week 8 rather. The one thing that's interesting here before we discuss the other side of the ball. I would like Mike mcdaniel to come out with the pedal to the floor. If you noticed Miami is a little quirky offensively. Unless they're really being pushed, McDaniels is kind of willing to settle in and run and play a little bit more controlled. We obviously know he's a former run game coordinator. I think there's also this element of trying to protect tua that's layered in there. But you have to start the game with the governor off build some leads because you're not always going to be able to play the lines and catch up from double digits. That's the one thing that's a little bit annoying there about Miami, but ultimately playing catch up the offense came alive. They did some of that on the opening drive on Saturday night football, the week before against the Steelers. I mean, it was the most creative opening drive. They go right down the field, get 7, and you're thinking to yourself watching that game and I know we're talking about obviously yesterday's game against the Lions. Miami is going to be able to do what they want when they want against the Steelers defense. Fast forward to what the eagles did in the first half. And you begin to go, okay, why doesn't Miami do that? And to your point, again, yesterday, they didn't really get outside of the box until they found themselves in that double digit deficit. One that was largely dug by a defense that looked like they didn't start the game until halftime. And that's actually the group that I wanted to highlight for Miami's 31 27 win and interesting result for sportsbooks with that game falling for knowing that the public and professionals actually got out there laid the three and three and a half. What did you see schematically that Miami did differently in the second half? I know they were only out there for three drives for Detroit, but they were able to force two punts, something that they couldn't do through the first 30 minutes of that football game. It's always the interesting dynamic and why there's some variance in these games because you would think if the dolphins can get a little pressure on golf, that's the element, but if golf has time, he's going to be able to pick a part of secondary that's a little beaten and battered. It's basically Xavier and Howard and javon Holland, the dolphins are down starting safety is starting corner and starting slot corner. And that ultimately was the game within the game. If you can get pressure before golf can get an open receiver, you're going to have a chance there. Ultimately, that's what unfolded they stopped the run a little bit better in the second half as well. And the offense maintained possession. Well, while scoring some points. Yeah, I mean, I think you hit on the key point there. And we talked about it, I want to say a couple of years ago with the Dallas Cowboys when they were rebuilding their defense. The only way that the defense is numbers were going to look better was with the offense putting together long sustained drives, keeping them rested. And if they were out there a ton, it was going to show up on the scoreboard. So a good second half from the Miami Dolphins to your point, they get to 5 and three in the division. One that looks significantly more competitive on paper now than we probably would have anticipated early in the season. I want to go to the AFC south and it's a team that we've picked apart for the last couple of years, one that I've been overly critical of it. And I think rightfully so they now find themselves in first place, and that was the Tennessee Titans. Look, they didn't do anything pain to reinvent the wheel. They didn't put Malik Willis in positions where he could cost them the game. But the Houston Texans knew what was coming, still couldn't stop it. I mean, Derek Henry puts the entire team on his back yet again. 32 carries 219 yards for a pair of scores. It's now four straight games of a hundred plus. He's carrying a 22 times. We keep talking about when the tread on the tire is going to wear off and Derek Henry is going to fall off a cliff. This guy only gets better, the more touches he gets. And what it allowed the Tennessee Titans to do is to protect that defense as well. They got off the field on third down, held the Texans to two of 14, and they held the Texans to a 161 yards of offense or 3.2 yards per play. Look, I'm not going to call the Titans a Super Bowl contender by any stretch of the imagination. It's going to piss everybody off in the volunteer state and in the city of Nashville, but they went out there, they executed a game plan. And Mike vrabel, to his credit, at least knows the strength and weaknesses of this football team. Well, they're not. So I don't think any reasonable fan would think this is a Super Bowl contender. And now kudos to Derek Henry, the guy had a 190 yards after first contact. The Texans got steamed part of it was the quarterback change.

"Second there, didn't I? I'll tell you what. And I'm about to say something really obvious. So I guess I do sound like criss-cross. But Ezekiel Elliott looks ten years younger. He is spectacular, has played really well the last few weeks. And the cowboys, this is will mcclay like the personnel guy like everyone's like, oh, Jerry Jones is the GM. Not really. Will mclay is their de facto personnel head. And he just finds like these return players or Pollard a couple of years ago, but he, he can judge, this might be a weird take, but I think he can judge situational acceleration in players better than anybody, right? Because you have speed stats, which are speed, but then there's game speed. And you think you see a lot of teams drafting speed, but there's such a difference between game speed. And when cowboys, like when they're rolling downhill and everyone's playing, they just have a really fast, fun team. And that's will McLaren right there. Yeah? Steelers dolphins. Sunday Night football. A couple of blue blood ish franchises here and young quarterbacks. Trying to find a way to add various factors up to be excited to look back at this game. It's like when you're in college and you're taking stock of what's in the cabinet and you're like, stale Cheetos. Ground beef, ramen, and you're just like, on one hand, like on the very far end of the spectrum, you may be have the baseline for a phenomenal casserole, right? On the other hand, you just have a gross assemblage of disjointed things. And I think that's what we had there. Yeah. Yeah, it was. Let's start with the, I guess the Steelers side of things. We know they're not very good this year. They weren't very good last year. They were just catching every conceivable break along the way. And this is kind of the result. Kenny Pickett is going to get a chance to, you know, get a multiyear look as their quarterback of the future. We'll see how it goes. This one was not good. Right down to the fact that hand size came up during the game when you're playing not in the winter and all that other stuff that you worry about with hand size. You know, interception on the second to last drive, which was sort of a desperation. It's third and 16. It's not some convert very often. You know, javon Holland is sitting on the route and then they show the slow motion replay and it's just, you know, it's just, it slipped down to his hand. It's just an ugly, wobbling duck of a pass. And you just kind of shrug your shoulders and you move on. Don't know what happened on the last play of this game. Good for Noah iqbi nagini though, who was getting picked on all game as has happened pretty much any time he's been in the lineup throughout his career. He ends up getting the game sealing interception. That's a nice moment. But I have no idea what Kenny Pickett is throwing that ball to you other than just saying, I'm just gonna chuck one up at big monogamy and trust that Deontay Johnson will find some way to catch it. You're on a hot streak. Can you just pronounce his last name one more time? Iced monogamy, fantastic. Yeah, you're doing, you're killing it. It wasn't the hardest to pronounce defensive back that actually played really well for the dolphins on Sunday towards the end of that game. There was a lot of Clayton fish dilemma, you know? That was your half of this deal. Yeah, yeah. I missed up. Clayton's Clayton fit Clayton fish dilemma. Fragility. No. What is it? Do you know? What you said? He was good. He was good. He's popped up. He's been a special team. Fiji, Clayton, Fiji. There were a lot of dudes in this game in the dolphin secondary that were like, oh yeah, I remember that. Yeah, he's a Justin bethel. I mean, there's a lot of those types of guys who are core special teamers who have been in the league for like 5, 8, ten years, but now they're all playing defensive back against a team whose strength is theoretically their receivers. And you end up going home with ten points. And that's not that aim, right? Clayton Fiji out of saint Xavier university. And then he transferred to Illinois. Yeah, I was going to say, I think he's a Big Ten guy. Very cool. He had like that he had the big fourth down stop or the third down stop a naji Harris, and then he did another ball. But going back to Kenny Pickett, you and I were talking before the show about that last throw and I was wondering, did he have time to did he have time to run it and kind of get out of bounds and then get closer for another shot? I don't know, but I could see a scenario where, I mean, they just have so many good wide receivers on this team and I think it's going to start to get a little contentious in there. It's a tough one to swallow here because the defense, which has had some issues this year, it was a pretty overwhelming performance from this defense in the second half. And in a way, when you're looking at the dolphins offense, I think this is, this is almost like a microcosm of the larger potential issue. You have with them is the more you see this Mike mcdaniel offense on tape with two a tongue by loa and the personnel they have in Miami, which is a little bit different stylistically than they had in San Francisco. Once everyone sees that more and more because it still it's a lot of cool stuff, but it's a lot of misdirection stuff. It's a lot of stuff that maybe doesn't. Have as much effectiveness as you wear through the season. And you saw an offense that just really wasn't going to move the ball in the second half of the game and tua, it's a nice story that is back. But number one, he continues to the dropped interceptions are weird. For a guy who throws such a catchable ball, the number of dropped interceptions that are just bouncing off chests and hands of defensive backs this year even going, yeah, it's a small sample size, but New England dropped like three of them in the opener that were just like, wow. How do you not catch that? It's not great. Again, he looks more comfortable. I think he's been much better getting later into the as things get later into that. I should say he's still a guy who you want the ball coming out as soon as humanly possible. But he's been far less erratic when he has to sort of work a little bit later into the down, which is good. That's all good stuff. But it's just, you can't be this mistake prone. When you're playing in this offense as this style of quarterback. Yeah. It's lost a lot of the, like you said, right? It's lost a lot of the machine polish to it because there isn't as much of that the easy throw to high yield post throw gain ratio, like that's all gone now. I don't know if you know that formula area. It's a very famous through a lot of math words that you hear. But that part's gone. And so, and it does, in a sense, remind me a little bit of like 2020 Garoppolo, right? I mean, once everybody has seen kind of the bag of tricks, it's like, okay, now we can kind of start working backwards here and seeing what you can do. And we don't know where he's at. I mean, this is a, you know, it's weird to see him on the field now. I'm going to be honest, you know? And I don't know. I don't know if it's time for that yet, but that's not my call to make.

"I lay all of that out to ask, honestly, will any of that matter if buffalo is down 37 players like the injury report suggested on Wednesday and Thursday? It's just another game that you just have to really keep your eyes peeled to that injury reports who plays who doesn't, but we've had some back and forth with this game. The look ahead, I believe, was four. We reopened three and a half, some early Baltimore money came in, and then it looked like some guys were practicing for buffalo and that went from three back to three and a half, and then yesterday's injury report didn't look great. So now we're back at three. That's really been the opposite of the market in this game. I kid you not. I read an article from buffalo and I think they listed 35 players or what felt like it. In some capacity that were either out, questionable, limited. We talk about clean injury reports and one of the best attributes and NFL player can have is availability. It may not be the case for buffalo. But sorry, I digress. I just kind of wanted to lay it out. It's led to an it's led to an employment for a very well respected Florida state cornerback. I'm looking at this game. And when I'm looking buffalo's offense, we kind of talked about this potential for negative changes to their offense without Brian dabel. And I think we assumed the pass rate would decline. We were wrong. That has not changed at all. In fact, the pass rates have increased. Buffalo still first and pass rate over expectation through three weeks. The problem has been the way buffalo's passing. Josh Allen has the 6th lowest intended air yards per pass out of 33 qualifying quarterbacks. And with that, the explosiveness of the bills offense is pretty much dwindled, right? They're 19th and explosive playwright. I get Ken Dorsey, right? I don't know, maybe he's jealous of the guys arm. He didn't really have a hose. I just don't understand what they're doing. It doesn't make any sense to me offensively. Because of these short passes and the lack of explosiveness, something I think we identified watching the rams game. The bills early down offense hasn't been great. 23rd in first down schedule just efficiency, 12th and second down. The bills are really surviving right now. Because of everything that Josh Allen is doing, he's playing out of his mind. And it's allowed the bills to be second in late down efficiency, where Allen is just thriving on third downs and get this number right now. Allen's helped the bills offense, pick up a first down or score touchdown on 66% of third downs. The league average is 34%. This is going to be this is going to regress. And if it does, the bills offense likely sees a little bit more regression than I think even what people are anticipating. The offensive line to your point is beat up a little bit. You had starting center Mitch Morse missed last week with an elbow injury. He's been limited through this portion of the week in practice. You had starting right guard Ryan Bates in the concussion protocol, left tackled Dion Dawkins as ill, Spencer Brown dealt with heat exhaustion last week. Roger safford's 34 and he requires rest days. I think most of these guys play this week. But every single lineman is dealing with something at this point and not nearly a 100%. You go back to the matchup as well. And the bills throwing short more often as we indicated compared to the day ball years. Josh Allen's only thrown 12% of passes 15 plus yards this season. It's the fourth highest rate of passes less than 15 yards. In the ravens defense hasn't been perfect, guys are a little bit banged up. They're starting to get healthier. Especially in the secondary. But the ravens defense right now 8th in short pass efficiency defense. And again, you're getting Marlon Humphrey and you're getting Marcus Peters working their way back from injuries this past off season. I think they're playing pretty well. And I think they improve this defense as we start to go along and those two guys get a little bit healthier. If bill's fans are looking for a silver lining for overall defensive health, they're probably not going to find that either and match up against Lamar Jackson and how explosive he has been through the first three games has been pretty eye opening just when you think Lamar maybe poised to take a step back or a little bit more reluctant to run. The ravens lead the NFL in yards per play this season at nearly 7. They're third in yards per rush in yards per pass. The bills defense has exceeded some expectations. The metrics are good there. And no quarterback has been blitzed more than Lamar Jackson this season at 41% of his drop backs. The caveat to that is that no team has bliss lets, no team has blitzed less easy for me to say, than the bills, 7% of opponents drop X in pain. We talk all the time. The key to slowing down the mar Jackson is having athletic safeties. You talk about javon Holland when they play the dolphins. We know what Micah Hyde and Jordan poyer can do. Well, Hyde is lost for the season, Jordan poyer is dealing with injuries. If buffalo is banged up in their defensive backfield, can they possibly devise a game plan, not only to slow down Lamar as a runner, but Lamar is a passer specifically as often as infrequently as effectively as he utilizes Mark Andrews in the middle of the field. The way Lamar is playing right now if the season were to end, he's clearly the MVP and you're starting to wonder if there's things defenses can do to even hinder his ability to not be this efficient. I mean, he just seems like no matter what you throw at him right now, he's been fantastic and it's just we kind of busted balls because he's put on a few pounds in the understanding was he did that to survive more hits this season and stay healthy. So the way he's playing just inject all the popcorn and milkshakes into his veins because he is just unbelievable. You may need to change your watch. When you watch the film and then you look at the data, you're like, this is just unbelievable. But the one thing I would say is based upon what he's seen so far and what the bills do defensively, Lamar Jackson is going to get a different look this week. The first three weeks against the jets dolphins and patriots. That trio of defense is either playing man coverage or bullets debt ridiculous rates or did both. That's just kind of how they devised their game plans. Dolphins sent heat on 55% of Lamar's drop backs, patriots, 38%. Jets lived in man coverage. Buffalo doesn't play anything like that. And you hit this perfectly. The bill's defense has played the second highest rate of two high shell. The bills are also number one in pressure rate on early downs the first three quarters, while blitzing the very least. Buffalo doesn't have to blitz to get pressure. None of what they do defensively is what Lamar Jackson's faced the first three weeks. It will be interesting to see how he handles that. Now Lamar's third and EPA per drop back against non too high shell looks 19th when he plays two high shells. So that is what buffalo does defensively, but it might not be at the level as you indicated if poyer is down in addition to Micah Hyde, who's out for the season, poyer's dealing with a foot injury was limited at practice on Wednesday. Let's see how that progresses. I just look at this. I think the thought process of can you employ that style to the level that you need against Lamar with all of these injuries? Why? Still in the P U P. Micah Hyde as we mentioned out. And then the new guy, right? Christian benford broke his hand in the dolphins game. He's out. Dane Jackson highly questionable again. Monitor the poyer thing because he's kind of that defensive team leader now. He's been limited. You also have Jordan Phillips, who's out again at Oliver was limited.

"I'm going to get with ownership and say, we have to support him for better protection on the offensive line, better running backs and just a just an absolute war chest of weapons on the perimeter. And they got all that form and you see now that he's healthy and now he's not looking over his shoulder, wondering if Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to come into the game or whether or not he's going to get sold out in the media and or talked about in a way that says that he was way overdrafted. He all of a sudden now is playing like a kid who looks like he's back at Alabama. Now he's confident. Now he's moving in the pocket finding marvelous he was playing with great vision plan with great decision making accuracy. And I've always liked their defense. Javon Holland, they're starting to increase safety, I think, is one of the unsung superstars in the entire NFL. This team is hot. This is a great showdown in week three for them against buffalo. It's a measuring stick for them. It's a measuring stick for them to see just how far they've come because buffaloes for real. If I said you could have a previous quarterback Alabama draft. So moving forward, I'll give you a Jalen hurts or Mac Jones. 5 year deal. Same price and we don't have any offensive weapons. So you're on the clock now. No, no, no. I mean, I'm not gonna define you. How about I put them all on the Patriots? They have no offensive weapons. If we're just starting from scratch, I'm gonna give you one. Now you build it out around. Yeah. I got you. Look, I wish you would ask me just like three weeks from now. Jalen looks like if Jalen has shown tremendous growth. If his throwing ability, pocket throwing ability is for real and sustainable. Combined with how this kit can run the football we've already known though. So his dual trick,

"Smythe the other tight end too. What Mozart will most excuse me, not Mozart. Mozart. And I do listen to classical music. My son Cameron and I, we listen to Mozart and Beethoven. That's real stuff. My two year old and I. But anyway, you have multiple chase Evans coming out of the backfield. The one thing that does worry me is our offensive line. The offensive line is still bad and Tehran Armstead. I never liked it because they only played 9 games last year. He's 30 years old or 31 years old. Older Lyman, tackle kids, stay healthy, but they needed to make a splash. They needed to sign somebody. He was the biggest attack on the market. They did. He's already hurt. And Austin Jackson, who was the first round pick two, three years ago, 18th overall in the USC. He's out and hurt. So now we're going to back up guys in week two on an already banged up damage offensive line. So that part scares me now. When I look at the Baltimore Ravens, they also gave up over 400 yards of offense. Now I know a lot of it was garbage time to the bottom jets, but it is what it is. It's still a number of that says that you look at. So if we can run the football, whoever runs the football and does not turn the ball over, we'll cover in this game. This is going to be like a four, 6, 7.1. This will not be closed. It'll be one position, but it won't be last second field goal or something like that. See, I think the most misunderstood game from week one was this Miami Dolphins team in the New England Patriots. Why is that? Because it wasn't a game that it didn't get a lot of red zone attention. It didn't get a lot of, 'cause it wasn't very many plays in the race. Exactly. So it was a lot of turtle. You saw two defensive scores by the Miami defense and then you saw wilder with the fourth and 7th. That was pretty much the highlight pack. That was it. So then you see at the end, it says, oh, dolphins have a T? They handle them, you know? I don't see it. No, they didn't handle them, but what they did, though, is they're defense was in super impressive last week. And they're still missing a corner in the safeties. But their defense is what's going to carry them. But they didn't run the ball well at all. They didn't have 50 yards on the ground. They've got to run the ball better. You're right. There were three plays in that game. And you could have called past an affair on Xavier Howard on the tip pass interception to javon Holland, grabbing on devonta Parker, I guess that's karma for devonta Parker. Sauna with them and then telling them our plays and stuff because you know these players do that. But it wasn't a dominant game, but we did take Bill Belichick and he couldn't figure out our defense. And he normally figure out your defense, but Mac Jones was in quarterback. You know I'm Tom Brady anymore. So I agree with you. It was just a few. It was just a few days. That's why this Raven game, honestly. It's really hard to call because lamarck had come out home opener. You don't want to give me my money I want. Okay, let me last week, I was warming up a little bit. They might get JK dobbins back this week also too. He's questionable. So in my head, I was thinking, if I'm a Mario Jackson, and if I'm the Baltimore Ravens, this is the game, right? I want to say this is the game because obviously the next week, week three, that'll be the next game. But if I was ever sitting there, like, why would I not pay Lamar Jackson? Your answer is right there in that Miami film. You know why though? If you needed a legit football reason, the answer is right there in that Miami film. Where he was getting trounced by that zero blitz, he couldn't beat it. He couldn't figure it out and it's not like, you know, obviously it was a tough time for Baltimore with injuries and in past catches or so on, but still ultimately, when you pay a guy, the type of money that you would expect a Lamar Jackson would demand, that's what you pay him to fix. Right? Essentially, you pay him to be able to quote overcome that. That's you pay Patrick Mahomes to be able to say hi. Well, tyreek hill is going. You still got to get it done. Right? But to that, though, you still need weapons and football to get that done. And I am a firm believer of this of the last 30 years of watching and now professionally covering sports. If you're tightening your best receiver, you do not have a great shot at being a good to great offense if your tight end is your best receiver. His tight end is his best receiver. We don't know rashawn Bateman is going to be just yet, right? So, and they gave away Hollywood Brown. So you got to have weapons. Mahomes still has weapons. And he still has Andy Reid and offensive mind genius that goes all the way back to his packer days, you know what I'm saying? Under Mike hunger. So that's not what that's not with Lamar's. Harbaugh is a great girl, but he's a defensive minded guy. It's not an offensive line of guys. There's a difference there. Well, we'll get into an offensive minded head coach and a receiver situation which seems incredibly tenuous so far even though we've only been playing football for about ten calendar days. This situation, it seems, hopefully it might get better. But before we get into that, Steve, what's

"Before you can learn how to win a game. And I feel like we're seeing to experiment a little more downfield every week and go from taking the defense gives him to now we're seeing pack shoulder fades. Pretty cool. And he's throwing the ball farther downfield and I just think it's not getting any respect what's going on with tua. And I fear that Miami is simply just going to allow you to do well the rest of the year and then trade him away. Like everything to his doing is just to raise his trade value for them to get deshaun Watson. But I think it looks awesome. And if tua does end up getting moved after this year, I hope his confidence stays high because he really has, you can see the guy growing and getting more confident, confident and building off of every performance. And I love what he has been doing recently. He had another great performance against the Giants. And I'm telling you, he's getting a little better every week. I'm not crazy. I know I love to. I know I live in Hawaii and over Hawaiian shirts almost every episode. I get it, but I'm not being crazy. You're like, who really is legitimately looking better every game? Also dolphins rookie receiver Jalen waddle had 9 catches for 90 yards against the Giants. As I speak right now, and that this could change after my NFL but I don't think so I don't like Stefan Diggs is going to get like 20 catches, but right now, Jalen waddle is tied for the second most catches in the NFL Cooper Cup has a hundred catches and then he got Keenan Allen tyreek hill in jaylen waddle. They all have 86 catches this year. That's good company to have. And jaylen waddle is getting better and better as well. And I would love to see Miami keep their young core together. They can get an offensive lineman or two, build their offensive line, maybe draft another weapon in the second or third round in the draft. I just really am excited about Miami man. They really are building something. Tuli looks better, and I would love to see this progression continue in Miami to look good. Jalen wad looks good. They got a couple of good pictures javon Holland is awesome. And I'm excited about what they are building slowly in Miami. And remember, Brian Flores is on the hot seat. I hope he saved his job. There's 6 and 7, one, 5 in a row..

"I got a fun idea. Should I do it? Should I do the fun thing? Of course you do. Let's see the fun thing. I'll be right back. To a baby, let's go. Things just keep getting more and more interesting in Miami tool was 27 for 33 passing in this game. He had 273 yards, two Dutch towns. He did have an interception, but in Miami, they've won three games in a row now. Two had a long, awesome touchdown pass for 65 yards to Mac hollins. This is one of the better games of two his career. And I just want to say, as a to a fan, I get it. I love the guy. I'm still not sold whether he's the franchise quarterback of the dolphins or not. I don't know whether they're going to brace them. I don't know whether they're going to build a random. I just like the guy. But I'm really curious to see how the rest of the year plays out for two of because it seems like to as progressing and getting better and better every week and building off of small success after small success after small success, and I thought he was better this week than he was two weeks ago against the ravens and it's just cool to see man. Now dolphins also, the dolphins have two young rookies, they have javon Holland, who is an awesome safety. They've got jaylen wad who's playing great. I just think there's something exciting going on in Miami. They've won three games in a row and I really want to see how the rest of the year goes for Miami. Now, the jets. I thought that Joe Flacco, the jets veteran quarterback who they traded for a couple of weeks ago, funny played really, really well, and there were some controversy whether the jets were right to make them their starter for this game or not. I thought he totally justified that move. He played very, very well, it makes to absolute sense why the jets made him their starting quarterback. He's a veteran. He handled the defense of Miami very, very well. And finally, I want to say this about the jets. They've got this rookie receiver Elijah Moore. He had a great day. He had 8 catches with a 141 yards and a touchdown, this dude is a stud, and if Zach Wilson hits, who is the quarterback they drafted number two overall, they also drafted alignment Elijah verret Tucker. And that allows you more in the second round. The jets draft class is fantastic if Zach Wilson does land and Elijah more a second round pick has been a home run right now. He's one of the best rookie receivers. I mean, he's up there. He's competing with guys who are incredible. But I really think that Elijah Moore is playing very, very well. And it's an underreported story, how well Elijah Moore is playing right now for the New York Jets. So guys, those are my thoughts on NFL week 11. I want to take the Jersey off. Give me one second. But those are my thoughts again on NFL week 11. Okay, let's now talk about college football. There are three games from this weekend. I want to talk about first is this..

"And then he gets the early touchdown on the ground, has another one throwing, and they're just kind of the spark. But we have seen Arizona in the spots sometimes not show up. And so you get the monster win last week. You got the big game on deck against Russell Wilson in Seattle. And suddenly you get a little bit of a sleepy spot here when you see PJ walker coming to town. Yeah, we've been waiting for Arizona to kind of lay an egg. It didn't happen against the Houston Texans, mainly because Houston couldn't do some of the things defensively that Carolina was able to. And of course, a team that was limited offensively when you give them short fields early on in the game, it's much easier to pin your ears back and go after the opposition. When you're up 14, nothing 7 minutes in. Do you wanna keep praise on the head coach right in your neck of the Woods for the kind of defensive effort he was able to inspire on Thursday night against the ravens? I think you have to. Big game for Miami. That's more of the team we expected coming into the season, especially defensively. The one thing we outlined on the podcast was you had heard leading up to the game while the dolphins play a ton of man. How are they going to possibly stop Lamar Jackson? And you start to dig into some of those numbers that we divulged in Lamar Jackson had actually been substantially better against zone this year than man. Lamar's completion percentage was 10% below expectation. The ravens were held to a negative 0.143 EPA per rush. That was the fourth worst mark of the entire week. And I don't go out of my way to not sound like a Homer on teams that I like, and so I didn't go into too much depth, but Jay von Holland was mentioned multiple times in our breakdown along with Brandon Jones. And those two guys allow your defense to be really versatile. Java Holland right now is you hate to say this after 9 weeks, but he might be the most versatile defender in the entire NFL. As a rookie, you can line him up outside, and he can defend wide receivers. You can put him in the slot and his physical enough to defend your tight end. You can watch him come up and crush somebody in the run. You can put him on the end as a blitzer. And he doesn't allow Lamar Jackson speed to get to the outside on the run. And so basically you had Brandon Jones and Jay von Holland. Be the keys of that entire game plan for the dolphins defense where you can go out there with 5 and 6 defensive backs because they're strong enough to hold up in the trenches. But they're also fast enough to not allow anything outside. One thing real quick. Cover both real Twitter and wide receivers. Where did javon Holland play his college football pain? He played an organ. I just oh, we're saying nice things about a west coaster. It's a first time. I'm marking this down on timestamping it. You know, he quit on the ducks. He was like, sheesh. I'm gonna sit out. I'm gonna sit out. I just these guys are too soft for me. This is Kelly. I knew there had to be a caveat to it. I knew there was a caveat coming. There was the one thing, right? I'm gonna phrase this nicer so let me think of the word. I didn't want to use the word simpleton. But there were people that were like, oh my God, did you see the Broncos? Trade up because they knew the dolphins wanted javonte Williams. It was obvious they needed a running back. And the dolphins are just sitting back. And mind you, Chris Greer's botched a lot of things. So let's not give them too much credit. But Brian Flores handpicked target was jayvon Holland, just based upon all of the versatility he had defensively, and that's exactly what he wants from his safety. It's the reason minka Fitzpatrick is not in town anymore. Minka Fitzpatrick wanted to play one position in one position only. He didn't want to be moved around. Javon Holland was that guy was his favorite player in the entire draft. That's who they were going to get. And they had a first round grade on him. And I think everyone in the draft world was like if Holland didn't sit out, he would have been in that 15 to 25 range in the first round. Yeah. I mean, it's all about identifying town and the dolphins have done a great job there, but this also may be the first time in this podcast you call the defender that didn't hail from Florida state, the most versatile in the league. I figured it always drew and James or of course a little quicker than Derwin. Or of course, jaylen Ramsey was also younger. So he's out there and there's no doubt Miami put together a thousand had four knee surgeries. I guess when you're not held together by surgically repaired ligaments, it allows you to be a little bit quicker. When this weekend, baby. There's no doubt you can gloat about that on Wednesday. All right, the Green Bay Packers also paying defensively put together a great performance. I'm not sure if it's as much on Russell Wilson, who was over 7 on deep balls. And shut out for the first time in his career as the Seahawks starting quarterback. But the packers exceed expectations on that side of the ball. I mean, they held Seattle to three and a half yards per play through the first three quarters..

"Now they got shut down. Baltimore did the one touchdown drive Baltimore put together really only happened because of penalties, Miami gave them on defense. The ravens were handed a ton of yards. There was a really terrible roughing the password penalty called on javon Holland. And then also Lamar Jackson got picked off on third and goal in the end zone with 47 seconds stuff. This was not a good offensive performance from Lamar or the ravens. Let's not pretend it was, but also I just don't get the almost eagerness from people to be like, see, he can't win the big game. He's terrible. It's like they just they wait. I don't get, I really don't understand attacking Lamar. It sounds like an awesome dude. He clearly works incredibly hard. And I love this, man. I love when NFL defenses blitz quarterbacks. Really when any defense blitz is a quarterback because first we got Jordan love last week against Kansas City Kansas City came after Jo to love blitz after blitz after blitz and then here we on Thursday night we got Lamar Jackson. And I think whether it's high school football college football, the NFL, you blitz a quarterback until they prove they know how to handle it and can beat it throwing. Make young quarterbacks uncomfortable. And I want to see other teams played this way against Lamar. I really do. I want to see maybe we have a blueprint to be Lamar. Now, ultimately, I believe Lamar and the ravens will adjust and figure it out. But that's the beauty of football. You watch film, you figure out what's wrong, and then you change it and fix the problem. And you can't hide. In football, if you're putting bad tape out there, you gotta deal with it. You'll get exposed very, very quickly. So there might now be a blueprint to beat Lamar Jackson and all that's gonna do is gonna make the ravens better. Because look, I would blame Lamar if I thought it was his fault for losing this football game. I think the reality is the play calling did not help out Lamar in this game. The ravens did not adjust to Miami blitzing at all..
