Giannis triple-double helps Bucks outlast Wizards 117-111
"Giannis intend to kupo notched his fourth triple double of the season and leading the bucks past the wizards. One 17 110 to kupo delivered 23 points, a season high 13 assists, and ten rebounds as Milwaukee played a night after seeing a 16 game winning streak come to an end. Javon Carter was 6 of ten from three point ranges scoring 20 points and drew holiday added 19 points. Milwaukee was 22 of 49 from beyond the ark. Bradley Beal had a game high 33 points for Washington, which clings to the final play in birth in the east. I'm Dave ferry.

"Is when the team overall has been just a little whatever, and they've I think also earned a level of, hey, we've made deep playoff runs. We don't need to peak too early here. We're not going to get too caught up in the regular season. But if you really want to zoom out and say that let's say that you believe Boston and Brooklyn have passed them by I'm just curious what their routes avenues to improve the team are here, are you just hoping Bobby portis starts shooting better? I think javon Carter's giving them some good stuff for you hoping both shop becomes a guy, but I don't know, man, I think that they need, they just feel like they need an injection of energy. It feels like they've looked the same for so long, and I guess inglis was maybe supposed to be that guy, but he's old. He's coming off a torn ACL. Yeah. I don't know, man. It just feels like they're lacking a little something. Just someone who gives them a little shot in the arm and that could be on or off the court frankly, but stale feels too harsh, but I don't love what I've seen from them, even though they do have a great record. No, no, no. I think that's fair. I think it has been a while since we've seen Middleton on the floor with them and look really good. And so I do think maybe we're downplaying a little bit how big a difference he can make, but I also think that let's be honest, if you remember back to the year they won the title at the beginning of that series, they did not look particularly good. I mean, Phoenix looked like they were going to run away with that series. Same in that Brooklyn series, yeah. Right. So Middleton's been guilty of maybe not playing well in big moments too. And then obviously he can turn it around, but I will say, I was a little bit surprised that they didn't do anything really in the off season. They made the slight gamble if you would call it that on ingles, who was a guy that was not going to be healthy to start the year. But otherwise, this is basically the exact same roster. And I did think that that was a little bit interesting that they didn't, you know, they didn't do a whole lot, you know, javon Carter's there.

"Milwaukee is going to want to stay in drop. Brooke told me, he's like, I'm confident in switching. I think I've gotten a lot better at it. He works on it, you know, he's working on his lateral movement in the off season, specifically to switch and it's that to me, am I going to get a weirdly emotional talking about this? But when you, to me, the beauty of the NBA is something like brook Lopez is like hardly going to switch during the regular season, and it doesn't even matter how much he switches during the regular season. But he is doing specific workouts in July in the event that he needs to switch out on Jayson Tatum ten months later for two or three possessions. That's the level of detail that some people are putting into their games, but what do you make of the bucks defensive style and how it could work in a theoretical matchup against Boston at the playoffs? I mean, who knows exactly what comes of it, but the fact that, you know, for all the criticism that budenholzer gets, and I think some of it has been fair, I also think NBA Twitter has a tendency to kind of beat things into the ground. And I think that with him, you know, it's been one of them, is that he overhauled the bucks didn't know what they were in the first place, which is just based the floor around Giannis. That wasn't a small task. He did it overnight. They went, they became the most aggressive three point shooting team in the league overnight. And quite frankly, if we're talking about like strategic shifts, that they make, the year that they won the championship was the same thing. Frankly, the idea of them creating a dunker spot for the bucks for Giannis, really, so that they could find a way to kind of shift the idea of teams just being able to load up against Giannis, finding a different spot for him or for other teammates to kind of hide away to make teams pay for doing that. It made their offense look weird for most of the beginning of that season and that's part of why. It's that sort of stuff. It's the Celtics season last year where you watch a team struggle are kind of run in place for 2025 games at the beginning of a season. And then they take off after the all star break, it's why I don't put so much stock as much stock in the first 25 or 30 games as I used to, particularly when a team is healthy or mostly healthy and still struggling, you know, I wouldn't make that much of the fact that the bucks looked the way they looked. Record wise. And they've been fine, by the way, they're within a game of first place. But Middleton hasn't played and hasn't played well, even when he has, really. Not to his standards. They've been better with javon Carter and starting lineup than Middleton. Absolutely. Javon Carter probably has more 30 point games than Chris Middleton does this year.

"That's another big body that they can throw. It's not just with Matthews. I can't believe Wes Matthews plays an NBA games and you look at the numbers. Yeah, that's true. They didn't lose anyone from last year and they're maybe gaining javon Carter who should have played for them in the playoffs last year. Maybe they'll realize that this year. The over under is 53 or 52 and a half and it all comes down to how many games am I getting from Giannis house? How many games am I getting from Giannis? Could this be a I want a third MVP type season for him? I think so. I like him going for MVP. He is even though the odds aren't great. He is my selection for MVP this upcoming season. I think Milwaukee is going to come out and put the hammer down just run out. I mean, they've showed us what they're capable of as a regular season team. I don't think they're messing around. I like the over. 7 to one for Yanis for MVP. What is there anything that would worry you about the steamer solo? It's the same as everybody else, you know, that they're missing time, the Lopez part of that. When you looked at some of their defensive numbers last year, you were like, what the fuck is wrong with these guys? Is it the finals hangover? Hey, we know we're really good. I mean, the reason why they're the best bet is just that when you start thinking matchup wise, like I ended up being like whatever Giannis did against Phoenix's all time shit. I think I left the Boston series that he lost. Even more impressive. He went up another level in the Boston series, which is a dumb thing to say after you dropped 50 in a closeout game and make every single free throw. And you can't make him. If they had played Golden State, I don't know who Golden State would have had to throw at him. No, I think it's been a huge problem. I think they probably win. I'm a move, also. They have a move in them. They have a move. Giannis plays 67 games last year. Lopez plays 13 everybody else is in basically the 60s. And you just think, all right, even just give them healthy brook Lopez back and 5 more Giannis

"Nobody wants to get in trouble for an extension early. So you'll start seeing those probably within the next hour or so. I'm not saying heroes getting one right away, but I wouldn't necessarily say you're just saying it doesn't mean that there's something afoot here because it hasn't been announced yet. Javon Carter Wesley Matthews back to Milwaukee. Cool. No problems there. Kyle Anderson. Yeah. That is soda. A little bit of a surprise. Yeah, a little bit of a surprise here. Getting 18 million over two years. So what are your thoughts on this deal making the jump from Memphis? Do you like this for Minnesota? We had heard Minnesota was targeting a big, obviously that didn't happen. I mean, still moves could be made. There's still bigs out there on the market. But pick up Kyle Anderson slo-mo. I like him. But I thought he fit so well in Memphis. I'm curious to see how it works in Minnesota. Yeah, I think this is Minnesota. This is a really maybe comes off sounding worse than I intend it. But Minnesota's trying to grow up and this is a grown-up signing, right there. Yeah, they're just trying to make sure like, hey, we keep things moving. And we're going to keep going. With this. So yeah, I think this is a big time. In addition for the wolves, good depth piece, I can also maybe start if they need them to in some lineups because you play both the three and the four, they're building a little bit more versatility into their front court, which is good with this edition with Anderson. And I think we'll go. Yeah, Christoph, we do read the comments. We do read the comments in the free ones. We just read a couple. I don't like when the same thing is spam 900 times. "Somebody that you really like to see wind up in purple and gold. I agree with Matt. The marne brothers stand out, obviously auto Porter junior, Daniel house junior shore, but not been a taxpayer. For the better minimum than that be awesome. But the Martin brothers and all part of the junior really pop out to me. That was that was my takeaway too. I went one of these things is not like the others, right? With that first, that taxpayer mid level, I'm like, Daniel house, if the Lakers paid Daniel house with a taxpayer mid level, 6.4 million in something went wrong there. I don't think he's a taxpayer mid level guy. And then the list of the partial mid level exception or minimum contract. So all of the guys that are on the potentially partial bid level exception are guys that I would not use my mid level on. But minimum, sure. Minimum, sure, javon Carter is a particular favorite of mine because three and D guards tend to do well with LeBron. But one is going to Anderson could also be a fit. If you're having to spend part of your mid level on one of those guys, that means you probably didn't get an auto Porter of the tomb. Gary Harris, TJ Warren, somebody like that. And so I actually think it would be a bad sign if one of those guys in that second list got the partial middle level. Makes sense. I mean, that's not to say. I mean, it depends on how they divvy it up, right? Maybe it's slightly more than a better minimum, still leaves you on a no four and a half, 4 million for the other guys in the first list. I think that's acceptable. But I think you're right. I think ideally you are able to nab one of the guys in that list with the full taxpayer mid level. I think that would be my preference. Or again, somehow get the Martin brothers for 3.2 each or whatever the money would be. If you get both of them, that would be nice. The real tie says the real big three for the Lakers is here. Yep, we don't cost 47 million either. That's right. Right. I'll tell you what, I'll opt into it though. No, I mean, if it made a difference to Lakers, I would have opted out. I'll hang out for the veteran minimum, no problem. I'll give the extra cap space. If that gets me onto the roster, I will take my cap hold on the roster. That's right..

"As of this moment. Would you even throw him a taxpayer if you're a Lakers? I'm assuming so, right? Sure. I mean, if his other. But again, he's not declining 7.3 or whatever so that he can take 6. That doesn't make sense. Yeah. Joseph said, would picking up Joe ingles be a risk, of course. He's an older player, mid 30s, coming off a knee injury. It's absolutely a risk. He would be a good three and D player, mostly three. He's got some creation abilities on the offensive end too. And I like him a lot. Jingles all the way, but also what are some sleeper free agent pickups that make sense? I'm still, I really like javon Carter. As that kind of end of the bench kind of got, oh, not even end of the badge, but a guy that most people don't think of when you think of this guy would be a really good free agent fit. We think first of auto Porter or TJ Warren, Obama, you know, and then if you want to go the higher tier guys that are, you know, you look at like, I don't know. Zach Levine's of the world. Those are the guys that get the attention. I think javon Carter would be a fantastic fit as a veteran minimum for the Lakers, just as a steady guard that can defend at a high level and knock in some threes. Not a star by any means. He's not going to take over a game for you, but I like his skill set. And thank you to be a pretty good fit. I'll go Bryn Forbes. I've talked about him a lot in the past as well. They ran a lot of really, really neat stuff. What's up for him? When he was in Milwaukee, he didn't get as many opportunities with Denver this season, but I would love to see brin Forbes and you'll be able to get them for a team friendly price as well. Yeah, if you give brin Forbes, I mean, not a great defender, but he's a shooter. You're going to need shooting on your team. A 100%, you will absolutely need shooting. Somebody said Scott from Facebook said Alec Burks, nerlens, Noel, the Lakers. So there was a development today with Alec Burks. Or maybe it was late yesterday. We're hitting the point in the off season where the days are blurring together. But bottom line, Alec Burks, foot surgery, and their fingers crossed, he'll be back for the start of the season, but that is going to be a complicating factor on the trade front for the Knicks in terms of moving him. It's a risk now. It's more risky to go after Alec Burks. So I might pause on Alec Burks. I don't know if I would make the move, knowing that he's injured right now. New Orleans Noel? Doesn't shoot the three, but depending on what you have to give up, sure. But again, I'm looking for the three point shooting bigs first. Yeah. Or at least a babe that can pass a little bit. Like karnstein. Carefully shoot the three well, but good passer, not terrible defender. Young.

"Are willing to give up everything that they've got, everything that's not nailed down to try to win right now. What does that look like? And then another one where, okay, Russell Westbrook stays. What does that look like? How do you build out that roster? So I've done two of those roster built so far and put those over on the Lakers nation YouTube channel. And in both situations, I wound up going after javon Carter in free agency because like you said, he's a great fit alongside a guy like LeBron. I mean, you could say for the clippers too, like alongside Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, just about any star when you need somebody who can just defend like crazy. It's almost like the Mario Chalmers role. Very similar to the way I thought of Mario Chalmers with those heat teams. So I think he can play that role and play it well. So I'm interested to see what ultimately happens with him. The other thing that's important to know with him too. Brooklyn owes him 3.9 million for next season, so you might be able to give him a little bit cheaper than your thinking because he's already getting paid. Chunk from the nuts after they waved him. A couple guys in the fridge. And we normally won't spend a lot of time in the fringe category. But a couple of guys who think of this, this guy is kind of elevate themselves out of this. David duke junior showed some stuff on a two way for the nets last year. He is an interesting player he's a guard he's got some decent size, so he showed some stuff there. Aaron holiday, I'm going to guess he doesn't even get the qualifying offer. Ends up under strict, but he's a guy. Every once in a while you see one of these young point guards, get picked up by a team on a minimum deal. And then the next thing you know, that's like, all right, that guy popped and he's kind of playing playing pretty well. That's kind of like a Gary Payton ish. Did that. You sometimes it takes point guards a couple of years to get there. For kundo composer, I don't know what to make of him. He was such a fun player a couple of years ago with deep play much. And that was on a team that didn't have a lot of point guard for a lot of the year and he really was still fell out of the nuggets. My guess is he just goes back overseas and finished his own as a great overseas career and then I don't know, man, I don't know what to make of Alfred Payton but at this point I think he's just someone will pick him up. He'll be somebody's third point guard. Hang around and hopefully that team will hold peek and pop midway through. And then the only other guy I want to mention is Trent forest of the jazz. He was an interesting player at times for you to I spent most of the year on a two way and then get converted right at the end of the regular season. So, but guys, spoiler alert, it doesn't look a whole lot better on the other four positions. Not the best free agent.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he got more money in the Lakers could pay. Personally, again, how realistic is this? I think out of Porter junior, if the best he can get is a taxpayer mid level, he probably stays with the warriors or someone comes along and offers him the full mid level at over 10 million and then gets him to leave. But again, we're staying grounded in reality while saying everything breaks right from the Lakers and auto Porter junior is swayed by the role of the Lakers can offer and he comes in. I think he would be critical to provide that switchy defense, combined with the size on the perimeter and the three point shooting ability. So auto Porter junior, welcome to LA. Next up, our old friend, Wes Matthews. No, I know. That's not going to blow anybody away. They're not going to be super excited. Was Matthews didn't have a great season with the Lakers, but he was pretty good with the box and remember who the Lakers knew head coach is. It's darvin Hamm. I want some players that are coming in that no darvin ham system, know what he's going to be trying to run, know his personality, his style and have experience running his offense in defensive schemes. Again, this free agent class, very, very thin on the wings. So west Matthews gives you some veteran shooting off the bench, gives you the ability to come in and defend multiple positions and nose darvin ham system. And I think that is very important. So I'm bringing him on board, Matt the optimist Peralta. You're welcome. And welcome back to LA, west Matthews. From there, I'm going to go get javon Carter, another guy with experience running with arvin Hamm system. A three and D point guard. I love it. This is the type of player that has success playing alongside LeBron James shoots decently enough from behind the arc can defend at a high level. He's pretty feisty out there. And again, right now, auto Porter junior got that taxpayer mid level. So we're talking about all veteran minimums here. You could do worse if javon Carter is your third guard off the bench as a kind of a backup backup ball handle. Remember, LeBron's going to handle the ball quite a bit too. So this is a major minutes guy, but this is somebody who can come in and play some stingy defense when called upon and knock in and outside shot. Once again, heading into this season. My goal is to find guys who can do those two things, not going to three at an acceptable rate and play really good defense. And that's what I'm trying to accomplish. The right draft pick can take your team to the playoffs and beyond. When you're scouting prospects, you need a powerful partner. You need indeed. Instead of spending hours on multiple job sites searching for candidates with the right skills, indeed it's a powerful hiring partner that.

"If you are so concerned about you getting your shop a lot, then not that mid range jump shot. That's the shot that people used to just be pulling her hair out that Jayson Tatum took, but this is the series where that particular skill set could very well be the difference between them winning this series or going down O two and where the chances of winning it at that point are slim to none. There are obviously a lot of adjustments that need to be made as a result of that performance. But what do you think needs to be changed for a game too? Who needs to step up? They just got to come up with more fire. Two, they got to adjust their defense. They can't do the like. Giannis went, they did a good job on Yanis. He went 9 for 25, okay? He meant 16 shots, like he was uncomfortable. He wasn't just killing him. That's great. You can't let the rest of the dudes shoot over 50%. You know, body porters was very good. Grace now and hit four threes, like they all are supporting cast stepped up. And then you can't let drew Holliday dictate the pace of the game. He dictated defensively. I thought personally he was the best player in the floor. Not because he scored the most points. He had control of the game, but he had control of the game, the controller defensively, he offensively hit every big shot. Every big three, every big, you know, he just was so clutch. And the Celtics have to do something. They have to do something to contain him. Like they can't just let him just, you know, roam around, shoot, you know, stop you defensively. I mean, and he was on 8 for 20, but briefer 5 from the three, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, three steals. He filled up the stat sheet, right? Double. I mean, Grayson Allen hit three threes. You know, connington hit two, javon Carter had some real javon Carter was a plus 25 in his 21 minutes. That's crazy. I mean, brook Lopez, he had three blocks in 28 minutes. To me, that's okay. He gonna block three shots. Go ahead and ten more times..

Winning Plays

"They're taking kind of ISO while you drop Brooke low prices is dropping off. So I'm going to shoot this, but I've got drew holiday contesting on from the side. There are obviously different levels of quality of threes. But they should take a lot of reason this series because that is what the defense is geared to give them. If Al Horford throw into that file or for three again, like you did against the nets and not on huge volume, but if he makes two threes, if he makes literally two, three is a game, then that's a big boost as well. And if he's willing to shoot them relatively quickly, which I think was the other good thing in the net series that he obviously was feeling confident about it because he wasn't shy about taking them. And so you end up with lineups where you can put a decent amount of shooting out there. And so in terms of X factors, there's a popular conversation today on Twitter and Reddit and whatever else the role of Peyton Pritchard in this series and, oh, is this a series where you try to play less Derek white? And can you get more patent Pritchard out there and because they are playing content or Grayson Allen or whomever it might be or George Hill or javon Carter like you have places you can put in, is this a series for being Pritchard? We'll see. I suspect that it will be a pretty heavily defensive series. And then your threes are swingy, right? And that's sort of what decides some of the games along the way. So I think Derek white still has a big role to play in this series. But if he's one of 11, then yeah, they'll have to go somewhere else and you would think that would be Pritchard, particularly on a team that has some weaknesses on the perimeter under even the best of circumstances, but with Middleton out, those shots will be there. And he's obviously not afraid. He has all the confidence in the world and his ability to shoot and rightly so you could end up there as well. But yeah, I mean, it's the playoffs, right? Three point shooting is the sort of swingy thing that wins most series, although against first round sometimes like this last series, it almost doesn't matter. But because it's just the talent disparity. But in this series, they're going to have to shoot and they're going to have to make. And they've got the personnel to do it. But you still got to go out and have the ball go through. And to on the plus side, I thought it's not friendly. I think emea doke has willingness to.

Winning Plays
"javon carter" Discussed on Winning Plays
"The trap of just like 6 foot three guy, big man dropping on the screen, going to shoot a three, going to shoot a three, you're going to shoot a three on the move. So as long as they stick to those much better principles that they showed in the second half of the year, I think they should be fine. But that is the one kind of thing you look at. Don't do that. Don't fall into that trap, right? Right. The bucks are going to test a lot more on that than nested. Yeah, well, 'cause I'm not saying. But even just a system like having the bucks, they don't have the best defensive talent but they have a system and they have a lot of continuity. And I think George Hill I expect should be back in the series, which again won't help them offensively, but just said another body that knows the system and the guy that can hit threes. The thing is there, like, even though, I mean, he'll probably be taking minutes away from javon Carter, who is at least has made a lot of threes this year. And is primarily the prince of guard. So if George Hill takes minutes away from him, I don't know how much of an upgrade that really ends up being. Maybe a downgrade, honestly. Yeah, it might be. I mean, if javon Carter was making 45% of his threes or whatever he made during the regular season that it is a downgrade, although they're a little bit less dynamic, George hills shot making isn't particularly dynamic at this point. But a lot of corner threes and stuff like that from a guard isn't great. But certainly defensive downgrade. So how that sort of washes out, I'm not sure. They do just need more live bodies who are reliable, who may not make a difference every game, but give them different options under different circumstances. So I'm sure they'll be happy to have anybody back. But it's not a deep, it's not a deep team. It hasn't been a deep team all year. They have some name guys Serge Ibaka and stuff like that but they're not really getting it done at this point in their career. But it's just it's always been that sort of been the situation since they tried to go after plugged on it and like the sort of fallout of that, obviously worked out last year, but some of the sort of ways that things spiraled out from there in terms of money and draft assets and trade stuff and all they gave up for drew has left them as a relatively shallow team this year, even before the injury. And without Middleton, yeah, you are making choices then between like so, George Hill or javon Carter and that's not exactly where you want to be. Now they can look at the Celtics and say like, oh, well, there's something to have to make a decision between are they going to play Peyton Pritchard or Daniel Tyson, things like that?.

"Don't even need to get into the rest of this stuff. But I mean, if you're sitting there as a fan and you're putting all of that blame on Steve Nash and saying a coaching change is gonna change everything. First of all, KD went to bat for Steve Nash. So that's 90% of what matters. Second of all. You think this dude has had a second to implement anything? All that guy all Steve management Sean marks are spent the last two years doing is plug and holes in the dam. Just media holes, we calls, drama halls, vaccination holes. They haven't been able to do it's miserable. Every time I see one of those guys, it's like, I just want to buy them a beer and hug them. He's basically had to manage, right? Manage chaos for two years. Man is drama, manage the locker room, who's playing who's not playing. And it kind of culminated with the Simmons situation. You know, basically him, as I said, being rolled out every day, asking is Ben Simmons playing, and when you look at the big picture here, this guy hasn't had a roster to coach except for small sample minutes. I think big picture here, you know, certainly how they've built this roster and when you look at, I call it a Laker esque off season from Brooklyn as far as their free agents last year. When you look at guys like James Johnson, who didn't finish was basically waged before the season for Kessler Edwards who couldn't play in the playoffs. Blake, who was basically shot until games four and 5, Lamarcus Aldridge couldn't see the court. Deandre bembry was waved. Javon Carter was waved like the roster construction there where you had a lot of small. You had no wings. You had no wings at all. You had small I mean, when you roll that team out against Boston, mills, dragach, curry, a small group. Yeah, no wings at all. So there is a lot. And you didn't manage that. I think the hardened situation too, like I wonder if you asked Brooklyn right now. You know what? We're just going to roll the dice. You know what, James Harden, you know, we know it's toxic. We know he basically quit honest. We're just going to roll the dice. We're not going to trade him. We're going to try to figure this out over the next couple of months. And if he, if he wants to go to Philly in the off season, let him gut their team. Let them trade Tobias Harris and Seth curry in this, and I think that, you know, if you ask them now, I think they would probably an internal debate about. Like, you know what? Maybe we should have just rolled the dice here. When you look at the hardened trade and now in 2022, I have to specify, I mean, the third hearted trade. Steven a smith, he was apologizing to Daryl more yesterday on TV saying you won the hardened trade. The next lost the orange rate Ben Simmons can't play. We go back and forth in these moments, who won the trade who lost a trade, maybe everybody lost. Maybe humanity just lost the James Harden trade. Ben Simmons has been played, but he's 25 or 26 years old on a long-term contract, theoretically fits hand in glove with the two net superstars. I am so sick of saying the word theoretically regarding the Brooklyn S, but I have to. James Harden, I can't get by anyone on 75% of his drives is using the basketball as a weapon wapping people in the face with it like he's playing stationary dodgeball because that's the only way he can get separation is to literally hit people with his elbows or the basketball and the sixers have done the rare thing of going up three zero and facing a game 6 against the raptors team who has absolutely zero fear of them. By the way, you can't beat the raptors without Fred van vliet with Scottie Barnes missing half the series or whatever it is. That series is it over yet? What are you doing? Finish the series, all due respect to the raptor. Maybe everybody just and James Harden is a free agent. 'cause he missed his opt in deadline. Whoops. Like I believe that's the actual explanation for what happened. I missed the opt in deadline. And they're going to have to pay him some enormous amount of money. Maybe we all maybe we all just lost Bobby. Maybe everyone's maybe you're a loser. I'm a loser. We're all losers. Well, considering that him and Irving will probably make over $400 million as off season. God bless. I mean, yeah, I mean, I think everybody lost in this situation and I mean, you're right about Philadelphia. I mean, and lethargic game 5 and they are, I think they're on the ropes, you know, and that's probably another podcast here. That's another. I can't right now. Take us back to Brooklyn's future. So here's what we've got. Well, here's what here's what I wrote in the article. And I said was like, basically, chance of competing for a championship relies on a player in Simmons who hasn't played in a game since last June..

"I was firmly on that side last year with Matisse dieval. I was firmly on that side two years ago with Christ on as well. So like, I do agree with that. I'm also considering that in regard to Thiago as my second team guy, yeah. Dylan Brooks is missed half the season, but I felt fine throwing him on because we're halfway in and he's playing now. And by the time the season is done hill played 60 something games and it'll be no problem. With GP two, he plays 17 minutes a game. It's tough he is a great defender, and you can tell me when he's on the floor. He's a more valuable defensive guard than Lonzo Ball. And I will probably agree with you. But it's hard for, I think it's hard to argue that he has been more impactful towards good defense in 17 minutes than Lonzo has been in starter minutes. Yeah, that's a good point. That's a good point. That's actually a really good way to put it. Okay. This has been fun. I love you. We gotta get some fun to watch. He's got a permanent basis. I do legitimately think he is probably the best offensive garden in the league. That's fine. Like on a per minute basis. I have a doctor, but I agree with you. Like, I have a soft. I have a soft spot for a journeyman guards who are incredible defensively and can't figure it out offensively. I think it's because I covered Andre Roberson. And I just grew to appreciate that player. I used to talk about defense with Andre Roberts and all the time, and I loved talking about defense with him, the guy just took so much pride in that side of the floor, and I developed and appreciated. I mean, he wasn't a journeyman. He was a first round pick, but I developed an appreciation for guys who clearly had that same dedication, but I couldn't get there because of their offensive game. And I feel like so many of those guys, it's like if you just find the fit like when I covered Payton in Washington, the whole time, I was like, if you could just find if you could find the right fit, this is gonna stick. I feel the same way about Shaq Harrison. Where I'm like, if someone can just find the right for Shaq Harrison, that dude is gonna stick and everyone's gonna be like, have the same reaction they've had this season to GP two, you know? Yeah, I'm concerned that Jack has had a lot of chances at this point, unfortunately. I know. But I still, I still believe it. I mean, that's he's another guy. He just gets in the guys. Like javon Carter, another one where I kind of felt that way forever, where he's just a hound on the ball. Yeah, no, I agree. Fred, this was fun. I enjoyed this. We'll have you back to do awards at some point, because I truly genuinely appreciate how much care you put into it. I think that it's really important and essential. As someone that actually does vote on these awards. So Fred, what do you want to pitch? What do you want to plug? Nothing in particular, you can read my stuff, read about the Knicks over at the athletic New York. You can follow me on Twitter at Fred Katz..

"Okay, we're back. Let's go to this next box game. The box, I don't even know what the final score was. The box like murdered them and pulled away and it felt like they nets had a chance to maybe make a run early in the fourth quarter, but Steve Nash is funny. Like Steve Nash pulled the plug when they were down like 14 with four minutes left. I was a little bit surprised about that. Yeah, but you see, Giannis out there, still going as hard as possible when javon Carter and cam Thomas and all those guys are out on the court. It was interesting, though, to see just a that difference in terms of mentality for what these early season games mean. I think Milwaukee certainly had a extra chip on their shoulder, because Giannis, a Giannis is always going to play hard because that's who he is as a human being. But B, I think they wanted to consolidate their title last year by beating the nets and winning on the night that they got their rings. They had real extra motivation in a way that Brooklyn probably didn't for this one. That's fine, but did anything stand out to you beyond the drew holiday injury, which we'll talk about here in momentarily. Yeah,.

"Your taxpayer mid level exception on someone else. That sort of thing. Because they're eventually going to be sacrifices even if the suns are willing to pay the luxury tax. There's a limit to that. By the way, a couple wing contracts I wanted to highlight javon Carter three years 11 and a half million. That's got a chance to be really good contract, but then he's 6 one. Like he's not a three and D player like Mikhail bridges is a three and D player, even though he, the guy he can be up, he can really die up. Dorian Finney Smith is on a ridiculous three year $12 million contract. He's gonna get paid this summer if he has a good year. So that value will disappear. Sneaky good contract that I don't think got enough love even though they won the championship. Pat Connaughton three years 16 million. I don't know, I'd have to sit down and watch film of him defensively obviously his three point shot his oscillated up and down pretty wildly and I don't think he's sort of guarded with the respect of a good three point shooter. That's a good contract. He's a good all around player, like it's hard to sneak those deals in under the radar, but they do exist, and his content 85% of Mikhail bridges maybe, I don't know. Those are just one style. This podcast is sponsored by better help online therapy, the best way to think about therapy is through a bunch of analogies. "I don't know how long those ago. But i've been busy. I'm lot of caffeine. So i'm excited to get going Your brooklyn nets. I'm seeing them at plus two twenty to be The championship winner next season. They're big moves on. Let you just kind of go off on your nets They added patty mills and they traded for javon carter. They lost dinwiddie jeff green. They lost sham. It four harder you actually traded sham to my phoenix suns for carter. We can talk a little bit how we feel about that emotionally as fans. But how do you feel about what the nets have done in free agency in trading To improve their odds well first of all we didn't trade him for john carter. We trade him for a first round. Pick just so happened to include. Japan carter in the trade as a little bit of difference there but looking at now i think it was all john carter that you got it. I'm sure anyway. A looking at the nets. I thought they were one of the biggest winners from the off season. Not even trying to view it from a fan perspective but anytime you have argued the best player in the entire league and you're able to resign them long term. I think that's definitely a huge win for the nets there also some rumors. According to sean marks they're close resign signing kyrie and harden and affiliate agree with me. The most important part about keeping three superstars together is actually keeping the superstars together so variable knew that for more than one or two years as definitely a massive win there. Now we talked about dinwiddie. They traded him because they were gonna lose him anyway. He was a free agent but they did pick up an eleven point. Five million dollar trade exception in the trade which definitely should factor in around the trade deadline in the next couple of months but ended up drafting sharp and thomas. Thomas is a pretty calm a ball hog but he's a very confident shooter. Let's put it that. Way and sharp should provide some frontline depth there which was a huge issue for the nets last season. Patty mills. i thought was a great addition because we know how good he is as a bench point guard. Sixth man type and as a whole i really like. What the nets did. I didn't think they reached on many guys. I thought that they kept its smart state to the game plan and they pretty much seemed to have all three superstars. Happy which is the main objective. They are building a super team. I thought they had a great off season. And i feel like they should be favorite to win the title because i think we would agree. Had kyri not gun injured even with the hard injury they probably would have beaten milwaukee and five or six games which means they probably one of one the title anyway so i think they're the best expedia nuts fared pretty well against the sons of the regular season but the point is is that they gave the account them yeah they gave the eventual champions. All they could handle and that was with harden being well less than a hundred percent. This is the best team in the league out. I think it's really close. But that's just my opinion on it. And i thought that in do they didn't do anything to rock the boat which is a good thing because when healthy this is the best humanoid you touch that number it plus two twenty. That is a heavy favourite for at this point in august august twelfth. That's a pretty heavy favorite. I wouldn't do it. I think that this number is not gonna change whether you bet it now or better in either september october. I don't think those numbers gonna move..

"Going to score or you get a Fallon. You're sitting at the free throw line and right now, Devon Booker got both Booker's got 11 points in 10 minutes And now all of a sudden, it's a 13 point lead here for Phoenix, 32 to 19. Monte Morris has it across the timeline. He gets a high pitched into Michael Green moves off of that he's inside the Ark spin move with the free throw line throws in the quarter composite back over toe. Monty hasn't stripped out of his hands lost it. Got it back. Put it up. That should have been a foul made the runner somehow. And what do we have here? Clock issue o clock issue, And you know, just in that position right there. I mean, the Nuggets were fortunate right there. They didn't even get into their set what they were trying to rental nine seconds left. On the shot clock on then it was kind of a past composite proposal. Hot potatoes it back two months. Morris. We had to make something happen at the end of the shot clock. Things have to get better here for the Nuggets. Booker has it the other way for Phoenix stutter Step in a driving A blow by on Dozer gets right to the rim leans in. Got it. No whistle 34 to 21 7 Booker's got a cook and early here. That's 13 for him. Already Top of the key is to Michael Green, Wide Open down low Is Dozier in the Lay up is up in him. Good cut by PJ Does your cot Devin? Booker looking the other way. And when he was not looking for EJ Dozer got himself free. Booker shoots it quickly. They go two for one. He does exactly that. Three pointers. No good rebound down into Michael Green that would pass off over to Monte Morris Monte has set up a high left side gets to pick from Michael Green gets another pick from Green throws it right side, the dozer. Entries past agree cut down low over to Monte Morris against blocked out of bounds by commenced E And that will be Denver basketball underneath was 17.7 on the clock. Really Nice cut, thereby Monte Morris the ball. Getting T o Michael Green at the free throw line, and he cuts left side of that court. All they could do is valid. Inbound goes to PJ Dozer. Dozer shoves this man out of the way, And that's gonna be a foul on P. J. That was on ob dual nature gets looking could have gone the other way he had it could have Looking for sure could have the Nuggets. It doesn't look like the energy level is picking up for them right now. Just the execution has to match that inbound goes to Monte Morris 10 seconds left to go in the first quarter. Mantei, one on one with Javon Carter gets a high pick from to Michael Green gets down the lane on Kaminski, right handed hook shot is up and in with 2.3 to go on now Denver's looking for a spot. Stop. Crowder gets it in the Carter. Half court shot counts of a ghost missed it at the horn, so they're not gets off to a slow start. They got some work left to do here. They're down by nine after one. It's 34 to 25. Phoenix, second quarters up next on the altitude radio network. It's the end of the first quarter..
