"Over again, and we're setting them up for like a third and long situation less Steve Nagy prove it to it because I don't want Nagy pays to hide behind the success of Justin Fields to build them out. And then management, like, Okay, well, you guys take with just confused. What do you guys one more year whenever had three years and things have consistently gotten worse. That's what a lot of people are saying that the clock doesn't start until Justin Fields goes in right. The clapper Nagy and Pace doesn't use the you know analogy where I said Justin Fields Dog's name is you know he's number one. That you don't play your wild card. You pick four wildcard until later in the game. You know you don't use it with your first. So now he's like, Okay. All right, We're one and three. And before you talk about me getting fired Yeah, Here's my wildcard. My back's up against a Now it's time for Justin Fields to save my job. Sure, I just I I just don't trust him with anything. I don't trust him with anything offensively. I don't trust me. His first offensive coordinator, did not last long, his first offensive line coach, Harry, he's dead. He somehow was the guy who didn't think Harry he stand was any good. He has entrusted any of his running backs. He had a kicking circus here. He didn't know where to spot the ball for game winning field goal. He doesn't like there's so many things. That I don't trust him to get this right? And I hope fields is better than him because that's the only way we get bailed out his bears fan. I'm pretty sure Harry he stand was at Notre Dame. When must a for and bars? Sure am McGlinchey and Nelson were all there. They're all there, right? And then the better The last time the Bears line was probably stable, too. He was their offensive line cut. But, man, Maggie, you know, we had to get his guy Juan Castillo and then still with Castillo here last year, they still didn't run the ball until he fired himself is offensive coordinator And with Castillo here, they didn't figure out the mustard for em. Buyers were better options until later in the season. Yeah. And so one thing that I wanted to get to and it was the Javi Baez. And this isn't the substance about Harvey. Right? The thumbs down stuff, And this goes for Matt Nagy. And this goes for Ryan Pace, And this goes for Eddie Jackson. If Eddie Jackson doesn't like when he hears some boos coming up or a keen hex Are very Betty Jackson ever hears me Talk about various defense Mayo make a tackle, right? Doesn't right, right, right. Javi Baez is exhibit A. And there are many other exhibits that I could present to you and I'm sure you guys talked about it. But this is the first time that I've been back that went through my mind. Is there a lot of people who come at me and say we're too hard as a city on its athletes, and I believe we are like the Goldilocks City. We are the just right city. I believe we're not as stupid in crazy as New York, Philadelphia and Boston. But we are not a soft town either from a fan base and a lot of the people in the so called media and people are conditioned these days to not like the media. But Freddie grew up here. I grew up here. Carmen grew up here. Everybody is here, but he grew up here, right? We grew up here and we are. Fans of the Bears were not like we want the Bears to win. We? That's all we criticizes when they don't win, and they do things. Half ass like Javi again is another example of be careful what you wish for. If you're an athlete, or if you think things are too hot in this town. There are so many cities that treat their athletes like crap compared to us. We ask for an honest effort. And like we asked to win, And if you don't win if you give us a good effort, a good blue collar work ethic. Sure. You are waddles a great example of that. What? That career touchdown and Tom Waddell be a 30 year veteran in the media and be so beloved like him as a wide receiver. Like this because many touchdowns his career as Jimmy Graham caught last year, Erin ruined, you know, does he ever have to buy another drink in this city? Like there's so many guys and and Javi I I hope he has come to this realization dealing with the New York fans and anyone else who goes anywhere. Chris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo will get it to once that You know the absent flows of the city. This city is as fair as they come. I think it's the perfect city because we are hard core sports fans. But we will still love you. Even if you ultimately don't win it all. Another good example. The 2011 bowls, the Derrick Rose Bowls with Tom Thibodeau. They won one game in one conference final. That team is beloved. Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson and like it is amazing this town and the rabid fans that we have The way we treat our athletes, even if they quote fail, as long as they just give us the good old fashioned work ethic, And I'm just telling all these bears players as they head into this season, or the coaches or the front office who thinks they get a raw deal. Be careful what you wish for because it isn't greener on the other side. You're not going to play for a better city than this. The media is a bunch of guys who grew up here who would love to cover winning teams. We wish we were talking about wins every single day. They're all the former players who used to play for the damn team. We're not causing controversies like Boston media in New York Media or Philadelphia. Give me a freaking break. So there was the one thing that I thought of when I was on vacation or showing my wife what's happened and In New York like it took him like three weeks to get to get into a rift with with the team and with the fan plus he but he would hurt for a while. So he missed some games, too. So it wasn't like immediate him and his buddy Linder, and you know what Greeny brought up a great way to describe it. He said that This was yesterday. I think it was yesterday or two days ago, talking about how he heard it from Jerry Seinfeld. He goes people. Boom. Sometimes you get mad, and he said, Listen, you picked this line of living. You picked me in a major league baseball player. They're paying you good money. You take the good with the bad, Okay? Absolutely. So you go out there and bust your tail. You're going to get the accolades If you don't play Well, you do something bad. You get booed. That's going to happen. You got to learn to accept it like the way Kyle Schwarber. Okay. He didn't exactly live up to what I thought he would be He actually one year when he was leading off hit like a buck 90 or something like that. But you know what? He never blamed anybody. He never turned on the fans. He's still said the right things, and he went out there every day, and he busted his ass to try to get out of it, and he saw some more fruits of his labor. Uh, coming up later. Still didn't live up to it. This cow Schwarber, beloved by country is of course, because we are a good town with the fan base with what we ask for athletes. Yes, we're hard on you. We want to win. We don't win enough in this town. But we don't kill you. If you don't win as long as you stay the course. And you give us what we're looking for. Brian? Yes. That we beat up on the GM, If you if you're not a good player, you're playing as hard as you can. As GMs falter. You're here. Yeah. Have said the same thing about radio. If you don't like listening to me or you or waddle or anybody, if you don't like us, don't blame us. Somebody hired us. That's a good pretty good, Fred. That's good. All right. If you want to weigh in 3323776 Chuck are fine. Also going to tell us about another Sox players, an important sax player going to the I l We will fill.

"Together, not a chance. Not a chance ever. Oh, yeah, Let's have some CA moderate. It's all it's all one big, happy fun with the subway series. And, uh, no, That's not the way it would be the freeway series. Yes Subway series now. It's a different spot, man. And if you were getting booed because you're missing shots, and then you don't take your shot. It's tough to handle. So as Embiid, saying the Philly fans who got on Simmons is the reason why they're gone. Because Embiid is one of the athletes who can handle the Northeast. And competition. Few minutes later, I'm sure his timeline got really ugly. He put up for clarity. I love the criticism. I love when I'm told I can't do something. It makes me work harder to prove everyone wrong. But not everyone is built like that hashtag fact. I added that hashtag it's on. That's a fact. That's a fact. So if the Sixers did choose between Embiid and Simmons, not because of a Rift. It's because Doc Rivers knows exactly what I'm talking about after playing some backcourt for the Knicks. He knows exactly what I'm talking about. He knows what's what And I'm sure Daryl Morey knows what's going on, too. And it's fine if Simmons can't Take the Philadelphia heat and wants to get out of the kitchen. That's fine. Absolutely fine. But Embiid also perhaps has heard some Philly fans say some awful awful stuff. And again like I told you, you have every right to go to a game and boost somebody for poor performance. If you feel so, and you have every right to boost somebody for lack of effort, passing up a bunny. Because potentially, you're concerned you can't even dunk it. But if you say something beyond the pale And we all know what that means. Then. You don't have a right to do that. I don't know if that's what embiid is saying, or if Embiid went even twitching in the Javi Baez direction of Hey, you know Stick with us. Stick with us. We're human beings to stick with us. Not really helping matters. And maybe I'm being saying you're not helping matters to the point where Simmons now leaving town, and he's good enough. The two of us could win. Except they'd never could mesh in a way that made it seem Like it was going to work, and now they're added a whole bunch of shooters around them best they could It could have worked. It could have worked, but he can't. But he can't be on the floor. Couple of months in the last eight minutes, the like He can't be out there. Oh, Ben Simmons had to do was dunk that ball. Dr Hardy 6 10 Trae Young was right there trainings 56 like he's not. And Ben Simmons is 74. He's not stopping. I know he's not stopping him there and that it was at the moment. It's about between the temples. That's the moment that these fans Turned on him and beat is right. Much like Mats fans, Billy fans, especially Sixers. Twitter is really even after winds man if you go and read Keefe, Pompeii, whose tweet we put up Just go read like the comments after every six or game. It's just like you would have thought even when they win by 10. You were the fact they lost by 20. I guess again if you have a problem between the temples It's difficult to play between Temple and Villanova. Ah, thank you so much. I literally just thought of that between my temples. I like your stock. So first up on our football. Um, docket today is Jeff Darlington of ESPN, he says Brian Flores. Mentioned within the locker room. The reports that tour Was going to be on the outs. Because does Shawn Watson was coming in as we know, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo, who broke this fact that the Dolphins were front runners for DeShaun Watson's Services in a trade over the weekend. Despite so much going on with him. Outside of football. Uh That the Texans didn't want to a back, so I don't even know what the Dolphins plan would have been to trade for Watson and have two of their and play out. It's just so weird. And so confusing. Apparently Brian floor has addressed that elephant in the room with all the dolphins, elephants and dolphins in one room together. And Caped four to, uh said he's our guy, which, by the way is something I've been saying on this set for a while. So I had to call up Jefferson. You gotta call in. And then Albert Breer is after him because there's lots going on in the world about why Cam got released and what Bill Belichick had to say about it. And why I got some Jacksonville Jaguars got jobs in the final 53 because of jabs. Jabs for jobs in the NFL. Or not. There's so much to discuss as we are eight days away from kickoff of the NFL season and just a handful of days to Sunday. When billions returns on Showtime, the famed wags David Costabile will be.

He impressed coaches with their accuracy supposed to one head coach last week, who told me that he thought that Mac Jones Could be and would be a Pro Bowl quarterback in this league for 10 years, and I'll be honest. I fully thought that he was going to wind up as the starting quarterback on opening day. Coming up on Wednesday. Keyshawn was wrong and wait for it. Dan Orlovsky was right. "You sure that wasn't an auto Craig Brett. Says, Hey, you're talking cubs if Javi Baez Cab of kept our home run and gave the crowd of thumbs down at Coors Field. Nobody would have seen it because it was the eighth inning and all the fans had already stumbled out of the stadium. Love Brandt. No, they're all know we decided. They're either on the party deck or they're yelling at dinner. And causing the most unfortunate misunderstanding in the history of misunderstanding. That's what they're doing. They're not stumbling out. They're not. They're not Dodger fans. They don't leave early. The state of the end. They do They stay till the end. Don't put that. Don't say that about Rockies fans, they don't leave. They stay the state of the end. You know why? Because there's a pleasant experience at Coors Field has nothing to do with baseball. And when you're having an experience that has that you paid a lot of money for, uh, that has nothing to do with baseball, and you don't have to care about the result on the field. Then you want to stay all nine innings. Brandt adds. The Ricketts family has turned Wrigley Field into a spirit Halloween store. I like that. Coors Field is amusement park. And Wrigley Field is a spirit Halloween store. I like that. Steve says players, uh, telling the fans telling the fans that they need to do better is laughable. In New York Dude needs his head examined. Ain't working in Miami. Three quarters of the population is from New York. Ain't taking that crap. Holy crapola. That's that's probably right. You're probably right. I'm just saying, like, are they invested in the success of the Miami Marlins down there? Hmm. Not so much. But you're right. There are some New Yorkers from what I hear. New Yorkers, uh, do end up in Florida. I have heard such thing. Tampa This would go over. Great. That's the that's really where you need to make the change. You need to make the change in Tampa. And when you bring Tampa around to where they will not boo anymore, then you can Go larger. Like you guys start small. These things try to change the hearts. Of the 500 Rays fans. And then Work your way out. But maybe it'll be Javi Baez is mission from now on. Or he'll backtrack and apologise on social media like he did today. But you know what? Here's the other thing. It was. It was a Ridiculously dumb thing to say. Like Let's just Call it what it is. It was stupid. It was stupid for him to do that. But you know what? It's not the worst held to die on. You know what, Like, stick by it. What you think you're going to win over Mets fans now? Oh, I apologize. And all Mets fans are like, Oh, that's okay. That we know. You know, here at the moment we get it. You know what? Javi Baez, I may think that what you said was incredibly dumb. But I would like you to stick by it. You're apologizing now. Come on..
Francisco Lindor, Javier Baez Apologize for Thumbs Down Gesture
"The Mets are playing a game that I believe was postponed yesterday. They're finishing the game today. Javi did not start in the game, so he's be. He was pinch hitting. This is at Citi Field. He comes up to bat and every man, woman and child in there has the thumbs down and booing. If you want to write a funny video, that's awesome. People even brought like the thumbs down Emoji like a big cardboard cut out of it. Yeah, so they could give the thumbs down to boo Javi bias. And then he got hit by a pitch if he if he steals, second and scores on a single and he crosses home plate. I hope he stands up and gives everyone the thumbs down. I think that would be hilarious. You boo me Pull you back. Yep. So one thing happy family that is the latest with Javi Baez here on ESPN chair. Here we go Soak in those beers. It's not that loud. I expected louder because there's not very many people. There's not many people there. It's very empty, but it's very funny to see like a dad and his son both pumps down in New York. Yeah, it's just funny. And I've got no problem with it at all. I have no problem with the Mets fans were booing them to begin with, but he and Francisco Lindor or have in fact apologized. Complete

"Right now, and it stopped by often racecourse to register your Account. Danny. Good morning, buddy. What's up, gentlemen? How are you guys? All good kid. All right, Danny. All right, Hoody Hoody with two D's. I don't okay. Go ahead. All right, gentlemen, let's start with hoodies. White Sox, which if you were here yesterday, hoodie, you would have heard me say you should not be holding your head high. I'm a little disappointed in their performance. But let's get to another player on your team. That performance hasn't been that great Dallas Chemical One of your White Sox. He's two and five with a 6.79 e R. A. In his last 10 starts, I asked you guys shot or no shot. Dallas Chemical is on the outside, looking in at a spot in the Sox playoff rotation that is a shot. I will be nice for him to give us a third or two thirds of an ending out of the bullpen at that's what's needed because Dallas tackle For all of you claim, right? What did I say? A couple years ago, Campus said what I'd like for the Sox to have their own version of Jon Lester. Yep, right. And that's how he was built. Yep. I want my Jon Lester because that was the Starting point for the Cubs to win the World Series. It has sustained success, right, Michael, not that guy. Clearly, he does not have it in a five man rotation. He's sixth. Not good, Not good and Friday night. He gave up six in the first inning to the Cubs, right. What What doesn't happen, Believe it. Yes, that's a shot, Danny. He is right now on the outside, looking and again. Yeah, An injury can happen on one throw and all of a sudden he could rocket up that board and go out. We don't have any better options. But right now outside, looking in seasons past them up road, Don, you're knocking on wood that he could be pretty solid. But all those guys are better than him. At this point, Ronaldo Lopez has passed them up for playoff. Lopez was really good that night fixed like Eichel really needs to I don't know what he needs to do, but he can't see a scenario where he's in the playoffs Rotation. Didn't he go? Um Ronaldo, Ronaldo, five. Perfect five. Shut up! Shut up. I think they were the perfect. Yeah, they were perfect. Jeff. I was Italian cheek. But I'm actually kind of serious laughing but serious at the same time when I say that chemicals six best in a five man rotation. As Lopez would take that spot for me right now. No doubt, no doubt, so Five perfect innings in a 17 13 game. The first time it's ever happened in the history of Major League baseball. We really kill her kicked the I believe he kicked the game when you feel a little too. Wow, Danny All right, gentlemen, sticking with baseball, our guy, Chris Mad dog, Russo said on his show High heat yesterday. That Javi Baez cannot get away with doing the fans in New York City, but he could get away with it here in Chicago. Here's the quote. Quote. This isn't Wrigley Field where people don't care. This is New York City. Just shut up and play. Javi Baez is an embarrassment. So I ask you guys shot or no shot. So I asked. You guys shot or no shot. If Javi Baez did indeed, boo the Cubs fans at Wrigley Field, it would not be such a huge deal. That's a no shot. It would absolutely be a big deal. This. I know who who He calls it this and he's right with some of the questioning of Our coaches and our players. This is not Hooterville. This is Chicago. And if you don't appreciate the 41,000 that jam that place all the time. Then you have no concept of how fortunate you are to be here. This is the big leagues. Boston, Philly, New York, Chicago. Those are tough markets and if you can't handle it And get the hell out there. You know, it's amazing how Russo loves baseball, but doesn't know anything about the sport. I can tell you about the you know, like the Pirates. 91 tell you about the Braves That didn't make the World Series and all that from baseball's past, but he has no clue of 2021. The idea that he says that Wrigley Field fans or cub fans are not passionate about their team is nonsense. Don't throw cub fans on the bus. I can say that Chicago and I'm a Sox fan, But I know that the mood has changed at Wrigley Field as soon as Theo and the Ricketts took over. It's not just all we lost. It's okay. We'll do this. Go give tomorrow. No, there is a lot. There's a locked in focus from Coke fans to see this team get better. You think the cup tends to allow that from buyers. That's BS total business. Russo has no idea what he's talking about. My God Almighty. I love dog, but he's wrong out of his mind here, and what Harvey did was so Awful so stupid. I'm telling you, man, he's going to be you. You called it at the break to me, But he said he's gonna be dead a shrewder in the off season. I'm getting 100. Whatever million Uh, no, you're not. Yeah, about thumbs down. Enjoy Baltimore. Exactly. Bleep hole. Exactly. Hobble check. I don't want to hear about helpful check. That's enough. That's basketball. Can't believe me. We took the train. You don't believe me. Get addicted. Treated scored 30, you know, taking trains the foot. Wait. Indiana played his ass off. Yeah. No idea what he's talking about..

"Sports Radio. Thank you to producer Dave Ettinger. Thank you to you for tuning in for listening. We talked about the Shawn Watson. We've Talked about J. K. Dobbins and whether or not it's worth it to, you know, give guys run in the preseason and we talked about Minshew. We talked about Jalen hurts. Yes, we are just waiting. And waiting and waiting and waiting. For the start of the NFL regular season. But at this time of year You know, we also have college football on the way and so already underway actually. Waiting for the big teams to get at it. We're going to spend some time talking about college football tomorrow. Who the hell can knock off Alabama will get to that. But we got about a month left. In the major league baseball season. And so this is one baseball gets cool. You know the postseason. It's It's so tense. It will have you at the edge of your seat. We We know this. So that's why here Start this hour of the show before I got to roll out of here. I got one more hour with the time Go. I feel like I just sat down. The fact is Baseball is ending. We all know that they're going to be teams that go to the post season and then you have other teams that just go home season done. In the case of the New York Mets. Their season is basically over. The New York Mets, Miss Jacob Diagram one of the best pitchers if not the best pitcher in major League baseball. This man had the deal dealing with an arm injury. You don't want this dude's arm falling off. He had an E R a of 1.8. Ridiculous. He goes down, the Mets offences stunk the entire season. They have been hot trash. No deGrom. No offensive production. Means team goes into the toilet. The New York Mets. Currently have a record of 63 67. What did they do? Trade deadline comes around. They say. Oh, yeah. We want to boost up our offense. So what are the New York McAdoo? Trade for Harvey Bias. Bring them in from Chicago. He's reunited with his buddy Francisco Indoor, who New York met fans don't necessarily like right now because of his own poor offensive production. Look, I got a 10 year deal. He's getting $340 million, and he's not off to the most swimming of starts. So Harvey bias Who for the majority of his career has been sink or swim. Like a lot of players. He goes through a hot streak. He goes into a cold one. He hits a home run. He's going to strike out a lot. That's just what he is. And so while the New York Mets have been in a tailspin While their season has crashed and burned while their own owner imagine this. The Mets owner Steve Cohen tweeted out a couple of weeks ago how he can't understand how professional hitters can be unproductive like this. Come on. And then Javi Baez went left. And and right. With his hands with his thumbs. This man has been getting booed because of his lack of production with the New York Mets. Javi Baez is batting to 10. With four home runs seven R B I S and 22 strikeouts. It's not pretty. It's bad. He's getting booed. Welcome to Queens, New York, Like who cares? The fans pay to watch you play and if you stink, they will tell you, they boom. So what does Harvey bias too? When he had successful on the field on Sunday. He gave a thumbs down. He clarified. He basically told everyone look Hey, The fans are bullying us. We're not machines. Yes, I'm giving the fans of thumbs down. Is that the smartest thing to do to a fan base, albeit bias is going to be a free agent. This is what Javi Baez said about why he started to give the fans a thumbs down with his celebration. Listen Just the booze that we get. You know, we're like We know we're not machines. We're going to struggle. You know, we're gonna we're gonna We're gonna struggled seven times at 10 and you know It just It just feels bad. When? When? When we started going on, strike calling. I get Boo, You know, it doesn't really get to me but like I want I want to let them know that what we should say is we're going to do the same thing to know how to let them know how. How it feels, you know, because If we went together, then we got loose together, you know, and and defense are really big part of it. So, um, in my case They got to be better. You know, I'll play for the fans and I love the fans. But you know if if they're going to do that, they just putting more pressure on the team and and that's not. That's not what we want. Oh, man, There's so many wrong directions there. We win together, we lose together. The fans aren't playing. You're the ones out there on the field. You're the one stinking it up. What are the fans have to do with that? Nothing. These people pay their hard earned money to watch you play And what are they supposed to do? Gosh shucks, he tried. No. There's a certain level that you have to perform and play up to And this is I'm not talking about. You know some of the disgusting things that we've seen. You know with someone is is getting spat at or having food thrown on that more called disgusting names. No, no, no. But the boo.

"That's right. We're going to ask a question about the morality behind certain messages that one might wear, and we will ask it of Andrew Bogus. It may or may not be his birthday. If this we're gonna celebrate in a pretty significant way, But first we're going to talk about his baseball team. Are the Mets in disarray? Yes, hasn't been wildly disappointing what they have done over the last. I guess it's month. Absolutely. Is there a future still relatively bright? I think it is. Think ownership is the critical requirement, an ingredient for excellence, and the new ownership of the Mets is probably though it's far from a guarantee is probably going to turn out to be a pretty positive thing. With with the caveat that when you don't know on a GM or a quarterback or a coach like Urban Meyer, you can give it two or three years. Move on. If you turns out, you have a bad owner, you tend to have a bad owner for a really, really long time. And the ugliness of the Mets play and the fact that they have given up the lead in that division was not exacerbated by but certainly highlighted by one of my favorite players in baseball doing when my least favorite things, Javi Baez, and I know this when when all those cubs got traded, right? Rizzo went to the Yankees, and he's cooled off and he had covid. But Rizzo is probably the least talented of the three Cubs, who got sent out two contenders between him. Kris Bryant happy buyers. And the most reliable veteran Love House guy, and he's a timely hitter. He's just a reliable player. And so you sort of figured that he would have an impact to some degree with the Yankees. He did early on. Chris Bryant is, I think the most talented of those guys former M V P and a remarkably streaky player, and so it felt like fresh Start excitement, Honeymoon period. Would do some big things at some point for the Giants, and he did. And there's good old Harvey, who I love and who loves the game. There's an emotional guy. But Harvey I mean that dude, he can smack home runs. You can steal bases. You can also strike out 51 times in a row. Unfortunately, the Mets they've gotten that Harvey and that's part of the deal. And you know what? You're getting what you can't do. What is totally unacceptable is turn on the fans. Even if they have turned on you, and this is one of things that can happen to Chicago Cubs. Actually, if I can just tie a little bit of a thread to Urban Meyer, one of the things there's a lot of reasons. I'm worried about Urban Meyer's succeeding at the NFL level. One of them is Urban is not a customer, the kind of criticism that comes with covering the NFL from the media the one time he got criticized really as a college coach. He went viral for getting in a reporter's face over and over over again that reporter now by the way of fairly well respected NFL writer. Same thing happens. The guys who played for the Cubs, the friendly confines at Wrigley are friendly. I don't always like it. The Cubs will lose 91 for 11 Rome Everyone's cheering because they've had enough. Budweiser's that they're just in a great mood and guys like Javi and Brian Rizzo, but really guys that have spent their careers there. Don't understand. Yeah, that doesn't play necessarily at Citi Field or most places, and it shouldn't around Major League baseball. You play badly. If you are at the focal point of a lineup in which your team has given away the leading division. Here's what's not going to happen. You're not going to get flowers. You're not gonna get serenaded. People are going to look at you and see rainbows and puppy dogs and shower you with love. And so Javi Baez big hit, no hit whatever given a thumbs down to fans. You can't do that. But you certainly have to be wise enough after the game when someone asked you about it to lie and say that it's a special signal. I don't know to your girlfriend instead of doing this. What is the thumbs down celebration after a big hit me? Just the booze that we get. You know, we're like We're not. We're not machines. We're going to struggle. You know, we're gonna We're gonna We're gonna struggle seven times out of 10 and you know It just It just feels bad. When? When? When we started going on strike calling that good boo, you know, it doesn't really get to me but like I want, I want to let them know that what we should say is we're going to do the same thing to to know how to let them know how. How it feels. You know, because If we went together, then we got loose together, you know, and and the fans are really big part of it. So, um, In my case, they got to be better. You know, I'll play for the fans and I love defense. But You know if if they're going to do that, they just putting more pressure on the team, and that's not. That's not what we want. Yeah, In this equation, the entity that needs to improve is clearly the fans. It's the meds fans. You have to be better. It's not Harvey buyers. For his teammates. I mean, to be fair. Javi Baez has been there for a long time. And you know he's checks notes again. I'm sorry. I have to correct myself on this Monday. He's been there for 30 seconds. Maybe you should just not do what you've done and say what you said. Hobby. Now the Mets Finish the month of July. They were 55 48. They were in first place in the east. They had a solid lead on the fills in the Braves. They had just gotten Javi Baez. They were expecting Jacob to ground back and since then Everything has gone south. They lost their first seven of eight to begin the month lost the division lead, then had a brutal stretch of 13 games against the Dodgers and Giants. And they are two and 10 and that stretch with the finale coming tonight. They're six and 17 in the month of August and their seven games out in the National League East. Well tonight. It's going to be Carlos Carrasco against Alex would would 10 and four the 4 11 A. Carrasco in two with an 882. It's been a career renaissance for wood. This year, his strikeout rate, his walk rate, his hard hit rate. All have improved. He's found new forms. Strikeout rate is the highest It's been since the 2016 season. Wood is one in three career with a 365 and 10 starts against the Mets. Carrasco Owen to with the 3 15 in 33 career starts against the Giants time Now for today's keys to the game sponsored by Geico, a proud partner, Major League Baseball. Javi Baez is four for 10 career against Wood. He's hitting in the three whole tonight. So if you can Workaround Baez. That would be key tonight. Also get to Carlos Carrasco. He has been really bad since coming off the injured list. That's why he's got the 882 E R A has failed to pitch even five innings or get past five innings in any of his starts, so Getting to Carrasco early is going to be the key to victory tonight. Time now for today's injury report, which is sponsored by Brown and told them physicians discover care where you are with Brown and Toland physicians. I learned it's a premium metal that develops a patina over time and platinum makes a great family heirloom, which is really cool. We picked the perfect style for her. Then we looked at all the options for center stones. He told me that Shane company is known for their vibrant natural sapphires. I like the idea of doing something totally unexpected. I loved here in that spot for the handler, The hotel and also for heritage Salvage up in Petaluma Bug does a great job up there. Well, it is baseball again. As the Giants go to sweep the Chicago Cubs. It's not easy to do. A professional athletes don't like to get swept with. The Giants have a shot to do that. Today Winners yesterday 4 to 3 over the Chicago Cubs, But let's hope the game didn't extract a price. From the San Francisco Giants is a collision with Longoria in Crawford late in the ninth inning lead to Longoria coming off the field, and Crawford not looking too happy himself. And the word after the game was that from Gabe Kapler? Longoria's shoulder was being looked at possibly the collarbone, which is not what you want to hear. But for the Giants yesterday, Kevin Gausman seven innings, two hits or run. No walks, 10 strikeouts, But for me, the big part of the game yesterday involved the 789 and one hitters, and they got it done yesterday, Vossler, one for three scored a run. Trump two for four, drove in a run to make it to to Wade drove in a run to make it 32 Gausman got a good sacrifice bunt down. Dickerson hit a home run and the M V P. Brandon Crawford Whack one off the wall to put the Giants up 42. They held on and got passed a tough ninth inning to win it. 4 to 3. So the Giants 37 21, the San Diego Padres still playing 600 ball, but they ran into the new Bob Gibson and the Graham last night. The ground seven innings three hits. No runs a walk, 11 strikeouts, The earned run average goes to Oh, 110.62 and the Mets won that 14 to nothing and Kershaw have got hit hard by the Atlanta Braves. So the Dodgers lost that one. So his place starts this morning. Yes, As it starts this morning, 58 games are down 104 to go. The Giants have a two game lead over San Diego. And a three game lead over the Dodgers and in the wild card. If you look at the Dodgers, and you're looking at that central, they have a three game lead over Milwaukee. And the Cubs. So that is, uh, where we actually a two game lead over Milwaukee in the Cubs, and that's where we are today. On this Sunday morning, Bill Lasky. Good morning. Good morning, Marty. What a game yesterday. Just fascinating appearance by Kevin Gausman. And that split finger was just magnificent. I mean some of the swings the Cubs had The one at bat was Javi Baez and the third inning, three of them in a row. And he missed all three and he swung harder on each one. But, uh, great wind yesterday and boy that ninth inning I think everybody was on the edge of their seat. Well hobby buyers and Rizzo for 20 in this series, and and it's a legitimate over 20. They haven't had a ball hard yet. Bryant hit the ball hard yesterday and Jaak Peterson may be banged up and going into the wall and the Dickerson home run but another solid game bill, But as I said Trump came through, drove in that to to run. Vossler got on and the end of the order got the job done. It was good to see I was really glad to see Trump going inside out on the fastball in. He pushed it to right field got another hit back in the sixth inning, and I thought he called a really good game. I was just watching how he was working. Gausman had used the 95 fastball to get ahead and boy the split fingers were coming after that. When you look at this pitching staff yesterday, Mari 13 strikeouts between Gausman, McGee and Rogers and no walks. That tells me a lot about this staff. How difficult this is for Trump to say. Split. Split split. Hey, it can't be that hard. But the only thing is how are you catching it? Because you see the movement on it. The movement on that pitch was just and then he takes something off on it like a little change up and Boy, he He just gets better by each start, and I said the center post game, you know, you think you've seen enough? You see him at the max and next start out. He's better and yesterday 97 pitches 67 for strikes, and you said it under pregame when runners in scoring position. He's at a zero on it. And yesterday 39 1 for 39, But, you know, joking about Trump. The toughest thing for Trump is catching the ball after the after the hitter swings and misses. That's the deal. All right. Well, we got Kyle Hendricks today. He's Jekyll and Hyde. April. He was awful. May he was much better. But you still look at 16 home runs in 62 innings left these hitting o ps one point. Oh, 39 come on against him, and on the other side is Johnny Cueto to see what he's got. Uh, Last time he discovered the fastball. It was terrific. And then the changeup came around, and I think for Johnny just needs work. I believe so, too. If he gets out there and it gets good routine going, I think that's the key. His last start with so much better. Than before. When you look what you deal with the Angels, seven innings, five hits, one earned five strikeouts, No walks. You know, when you look at walks, he has only walk. Six guys struck out 36. What a great comparison in that, and you look on Hendricks, and it's like Davies again. We saw Davies Thursday. I'm hoping that The giant hitters are going to look at both these videos, and they're very compatible. Well, you hope David Ross takes a vacation again in the fourth inning because he took one yesterday would call Stewart just getting whacked around..

"Little league play. Check out the call from the Pittsburgh Pirates broadcast one of the funnier calls you will ever hear on a baseball game. Here's the 02 home and swinging the ground ball to third base. He took a neck high pitch and hit it on the ground of third now by his running back toward home plate tag tag him quickly. What did Craig do there? They gotta run out of that Now They're going to get the out at first, and they throw it in the right field. That's going to get a run for the Cubs. Oh, my. What a loony play. He is in its second base. Just hang them out. What was that? The Cubs are going to get a run. And why is the safe at second base on a routine ground out to third? Oh, the Colli a piece can be heard from here to so quickly. Just at all time call from the Paris broadcast team there. So are run comes into score. Bias ends up in second days You heard the cascade of boos pouring down. This is I mean, this is little league piss poor stuff from the pirate. The Colli apps can be heard from here to so quickly. I don't think you will hear anything better on a major league baseball broadcasts all season curves that that was Remarkable who knew you could actually run backwards When you were running up the first base line. Javi Baez, apparently did Will Craig obviously did not the Pirates first base and what I also loved about this plate, though, is up until the ninth inning when the Cubs added an insurance run. It was a one run game that the Cubs lead. And so Chicago ends up winning 5 to 3. But could you mash if this game finishes 4 to 3? And will Craig loses this game for Pittsburgh on just one of the most bizarre plays you will ever see.

Jesse Rogers is fueled by the pride stores. Not your typical convenience store. Check out one of their 15 Chicago land locations today, Jesse. Good morning, Eric back. It's the home plate umpire. That guy's got to be disciplined. He was awful yesterday. It really affected the game. I mean, for both teams for both teams. It seems like for the Cubs a little bit more. Wainwright, you know, was using the knowledge that he was going to get that outside pitch and went out there often so interesting cap. Listen to David Ross after the game because you know they have all these stats on these umpires. And Bob back is calls the fourth most strikes outside the zone of anyone in the league. So a soon as he saw him doing that early in the game, Ross got on him. And eventually, of course, got ejected. He knew between Wainwright and Molina. They would take advantage is a rookie up. It would take advantage of him if he started the game, calling that wide zone, which again Ross knew he might based on previous knowledge and data, So I thought it was really cool of David Ross to be on top of that and try to nip it in the bud. I don't think it worked. Wainwright had 31 called strikes the most tied with Kyle Hendricks of any pitcher in baseball in a start this season, so it was wide. It was also wide in favor of the Cubs as well. A few pitches outside even in the ninth inning, I think with Kimbrough, So it just wasn't a good zone. But I think it affected the Cubs more because Wayne Wright knew how to use it, especially Malina behind the plate. So, Jesse, I think it begs the question which Cubs are going to step up, Was it Game. No game. One cubs against the Cardinals were the last to the last two seems seemingly is more cubs as far as trying to find offense. Sometimes one sometimes lose. So how do you characterize the Cubs at this point? Well, look, they've played the most one run games in league now, 18. They're nine and nine in them, so there's there's some good. There's some bad. What a couple games about 500. That kind of tells you what you need to know They're hanging in there, but they're certainly looking better this month, and they did in April on offense. I think we all agree since stuffy and certainly Nico Horner was inserted in the lineup. If he's hurting little bit, And when Marie's Nick was in there? No, it's changed The offense that looks a little bit more consistent. Jay Hood now it's not gonna be great. Every night. The Cardinals certainly in the rotation can pitch Wainwright. You pitch and went to umpire gives you that big zone. It's going to affect you, but I'm working soon about the pitching staff. If you're thinking about a great season for the Cubs can this rotation and this young bullpen Last into September. Maybe even into October. I'm not sure that they can give you example again. Why this debate about trade or not? Trade? Come July is going toe. Really increase yesterday before the game, Tommy Ha Toby was talking about how they may have to back off as a lay a little bit. Not a shock, right? Young guy didn't really pitch much last year. They may have to do that at some point. Now he's a key cog right now. He's pitching great, but if they have to back off a little bit, skip a start, whatever the case may be that effects how this thing's going to go down the line. Same with these young relievers who are great Keegan, Thompson's and Tommy Nancy. They didn't pitch last year. You have to be able to project them into September into October, and that's what we get back to that question. Like what's gonna happen in July? I still think the default position is to sell. And you. The funny part is you've been waiting for this offense to come up to come to life a little bit these last few years and find some consistency and it has now I still feel like it's a little wonky on the mound Jay Hood, so it's a good team. It just may not be a great great team, and that's the That's the decision that Jed has toe. Sort of navigate around. So I'm most impressed by with Tommy, how to be in the bullpen have been able to do yesterday. It's let's see chance. To I was in there. Ryan to pair looks amazing effect during the two pair of appearance that massacres and said Okay, this isn't the same bullpen. We watched six weeks ago. And then you see Kimbrel come in, got a second plate appearances a hitter. Of his career, But all those guys together, Dan Winkler, these guys have really stepped up. Why? They changed things that the development has changed. Craig Breslow was in charge of their pitching. Basically, it feels like since they started up at that alternate site last year, they have done a good job of developing finally. There are pictures now You're not gonna hit on all of them, but my God. Keegan Thompson looks great. Tommy Nance was an independent ball. Ryan to parallel didn't have much of a resume. He looks good.
