"Good morning with you on this tuesday edition and joining us in studio is our good friend eddie schwartz former mp spokesperson author of the book on jeffrey dahmer former local tv reporter what i what did i miss you now you're public speaking about a lot of different conversation giving training training law enforcement around the country had a message in how to do the things that we criticize people for not doing when we're here on the show so we have a lot to talk about but i wanna ask you not about the what the events state senator lena taylor got in some trouble on friday the issue her aid that sorely conduct citation and now from what i'm what i'm hearing and we had jason stein from the journal sentinel on earlier explaining that's being challenged do you know anything about that process and is that a typical process when people have something like that happens well the disclaimer is i'm not a city attorney i don't even play one on tv anymore so that having been said it's not unusual to to ask for a supervisor to review a citation or to challenge us by gatien it happens it happens most often involving public figures are public officials but it does happen i i was sad sometimes when i worked at the police departments thinking about the fact that the general public doesn't really know how to navigate some of these situation so when you get a ticket for disorderly conduct and you've got your citation you can either go in front of municipal court and you can contest it or you can pay the fine so bad it's not that unusual but someone would contest it and it certainly not surprising that senator taylor which test yeah i guess the bigger point there maybe at some point elected officials do get treated differently but i know that's not your your era of expertise let's talk walkie police department a now was interim chief now she for the next you years feeling out the remainder of chief lyons term alfonso morales chief morales what are some of the things he's going to do now in the next two years to kind of move up department forward.

"Eighteen i agree with you on this wednesday we are joined by jason stein outstanding walkie journal reporter covers a lot of the things happening in madison there was a lot happening in madison this week and still more to come with the assembly one of the things that didn't get done jason was his bill to provide foxconn like subsidies to kimberly clark gave a couple of paper plants in the fox valley area that are being shut down by kimberly clark lease it's been announced that would affect six hundred jobs so governor scott walker proposed offering them to pay seventeen cents on the dollar of wages they pay their and fifteen cents on the dollar of any capital improvements to the or equipment i think the reason you didn't one of the reasons you didn't see action yesterday is that the company has yet to say whether those incentives would be enough to keep the plant open given that they have apparently a diminishing global demand for for these these products they're made at the plant i think lawmakers without that assurance for the company republican lawmakers were unwilling to pass it you know it's still possible that if the company were to say you know this is what we need we need x that state officials might consider giving it to them but for the moment at least that was dead i noticed it was scheduled for came to a vote was seven million dollars for to lure out of state workers that that move forward that has so that is you know in the wake of the state of three percent unemployment we have this massive foxconn flat screen plant being planned for seeing county so there's some worker shortage issues in certain areas of the state is attempting to have a marketing campaign in places like you know the metro or the l down in chicago to try and attract meridia workers younger workers up into wisconsin you know and there was some debate over is that the best way to do it it would it be better to train people who are here in the state and unemployed or you know to provide that money for our schools and university so there's some back and forth about that last night there's a lot of push back from chicago people as well on on those efforts almost blocking jacket.

"The the state of the state address again just talk about what was missing from that address at least in my mind what he should have been talking about is a big issue it won't surprise anybody but it's something that i've talked about probably as long as i've been doing a show on nine thirty five we're going to bring in speaker that state of the state address a journalist that report jason stein he's here he's going to break down wanted felt like what he saw in that speech talking about the impact of the governor's words both on the people that support him and potentially those that don't support them what it meant for democrats just the general feel of that room what that was like that's at nine thirty five nine oh seven schools education discipline i hammered on this point yesterday take back the hallways one of those big issues is discipline in schools we're going to bring and will flanders from wisconsin institute for long liberty they get a new study issued this week on week suspension policies and the link between poor academic performance disciplinary issues in schools their results are pretty eyeopening and it's not in milwaukee issue it's a state issue and for that matter it's a federal issued because the directives were were created during the obama administration and they continue to this day all asking the question well president trump change those policies so far he hasn't but we're going to start is halfhour with the press with the governor's state of the state address and you had a chance to listen or watch any of it there was a theme and i mentioned it too gene that theme was we are getting positive things done for the people of wisconsin and he stayed on that theme some of the things he mentioned money for education extra two hundred dollars for every student in the school in in these schools in the school districts across the state and another two hundred and four dollars next year that's pig uh eliminating the state property tax it was that piece of your property tax bill it wasn't the biggest pieces smallest chunk of.

"Frankford motor show with paul w smith on wjr sponsored this morning by sea at motion and mobility once again direct from germany here's paul and a great show it is however as daniel houses pointed out in his column today in the detroit news and as touch on briefly by jason stein of automotive news as vicepresident and publisher he was here with his dad otto stein this is one of the biggest auto shows in the world dick this is about with outside and inside square footage about five million four hundred fifty thousand square feet once you get the uh the whole twelve if they're building in there it's just astonishingly big but i bet you in china they'll make a hall bigger because since china has been doing the honours shows they've had like three different halls built while they really come on strong and their affecting who comes wear and that's probably one of the reasons but will rely on our good friend coming up here in just a moment well of of human a few minutes daniel how's it at a sixteen from the detroit news who's writing about gm and the three fca grams of skip the frankford auto show up at then there's the rest of the story here at one of the world's biggest auto shows missing at least nine brands this year as the trend.

"A community online that that that goes a grow away from the the i guess the the old traditional jazz labels being this sort of gatekeepers and and and and find an audience that's not necessarily the you know through those companies yeah that that is definitely happening uh it in parallel to to what you said um but just are on a much smaller scale for sure there's there's so much room for direct communication with music and with people who might be interested in in what you're doing um i mean even dealing with labels it's just a very small market in a small thing where i i don't think it's even really that comparable to to the way it was forty or fifty years ago right here and had a couple of blues musicians and jazz musicians and in studio talked about how the compares sins between the american market in the europe european market and the fact that jazz and blues still there is still is a market meaning a blues musician can go over and play in germany and their crowder pound crowd and people wanna buy their stuff and they come back to chicago and they're like zenith we don't really what we want to deal with blues music is it the same adjustment ejaz still have a a hold in in european cities yeah i would say so my experience of that has been that um yeah there's there's quite a big audience in in a lot of cities in europe there is a big audience in in american a lot said he's too i think the biggest differences that there they're still a lot more government funding for a concert series to be put on where i might go with the band to copenhagen and we can play for two hundred people that we could play for two hundred people here also but there we would make a lot more money um because i say not just based on ticket sales right that's interesting jason stein in studio jason stand quartet a fixture here in chicago jazz scene they are putting on a new album on del mark called lucille out friday they got a record release show at constellation thirty one eleven northwestern avenue coming up at the end of the month september thirty will do this will take a.
