"Note the most notorious and the most egregious I disagree with. He's the most publicized because he's doing it in the biggest races and the fact that something happened or possibly happened I should say in The Kentucky Derby or in the Arkansas Derby or, you know, whatever makes it where it stands out. I wouldn't say that what he's done is more egregious than what George Navarro and Jason service have been accused of doing and actually in partly have pleaded guilty to doing. I mean, where they're claiming horses and moving them up 20 speed figure points from whoever they had them before, and, you know, and just blatantly using substances that they're not supposed to use. And, you know, in Navarro's case, he's pled guilty to a lot of this service is still holding out. So most egregious I would say more on that end, you know, the trainers like that who are, you know, just improving horses, leaps and bounds over other qualified trainers. He's just what he's accused of being doing or what he's, you know, being investigated or just much bigger races overall and obviously The Kentucky Derby was the tipping point. We're going to take our final break when we come back. Last segment here on the brist net dot com call and show the phone lines are open 8 8 8 9 6 6 four 7 7 6. This is the Brisbane dot com call.

"Just a good horse he's run. The second best Figari ran this year was in Saratoga. he's run big figures it with UPS I. Watched Belmont. I just don't I'm sorry. I know a lot of the most people disagree with me and I keep hearing that and I keep saying other show I don't agree with it. I think he's good horse. Though but nobody's arguing that he is a good. Question, I wish it was at Belmont. I. Really. Belmont. Against better field. Well. I I don't agree with it. I just don't. I was raised at Belmont or Jason Services currently under indictment for using performance enhancing drugs. South. Frankly I don't WanNa take his performance was Belmont and face value until Kelly Breen. Donna. All. Right. Well, he this one these two to to sin in five starts. He did and his buyer figure the second best one Iran was in Saratoga? In the van De I yeah. That's fair. I think he's a very horse. The point I think saying he's Belmont takes away. It creates a well let's take a look at solves racist. You know I mean I bring up right now. We're very well certain zoning. Last year's Breeders Cup sprint exactly by the vase. Ran One hundred it depen- national in the fabulous strike. He went to one or two in the General George. Where is where is the proof if you actually look? That he's better at Belmont then he is it other tracksuit just isn't that proven. Well five except. I, on behalf of his forego last year I, understanding which I get it. But wins don't necessarily need to performances were better than his losing performances. I, mean and really ridiculous dwyer by the way what happy those real Jason Service la La you know. Ninety eight when he wanted to gallon, bob is a three year old parks. That the second figure I believe he ever ran. I've.

"All right here we go. We're back on racing down today. Episode Number Fifty. We got a lot of stuff to get to today. Three fifty three fifty point preparations on the docket for this week. In one hundred Fifty Kentucky Derby points up for grabs three more horses will be on their way to Churchill. Downs weekend. There's also a bunch of other stakes around the country this weekend most notably the grade. Santa Anita Handicap. So we'll get to all those book. I we gotta get to the action from this past weekend in Saudi Arabia and the conversation is coming up at. I've seen it come up in multiple different areas is about the winner of the Saudi. Maximum Security You know that is probably the most the Kentucky Derby incident and you know. I'M NOT GONNA come on here and you know say that the Saudi Cup has anything to do with the decision that was made at Churchill. Downs or anything like that or argue that the disqualification now because he's one twenty million dollars. Saudi Cup shouldn't happen I I am not gonNA come on here. Make that argument I just off you know really looking at it. It's unfortunate that happened because maximum security is really just such a tough horse. And you know there's not enough good things you can say about maximum security and you know that raise really showed that maximum security is one of the best horses in the world and obviously right now. The leader of the pack in the United States for older horse. Right now and be really cool to see this horse competing for your old year and you know depending on where he goes from here. Obviously you know. They already mentioned that. He's not going to Dubai. But just where MAC security goes from. Here I'm excited to see that. And what he has in store you know. I'm sure Eric will have some of his things. Say about maximum security. But that's something not lost museum. Fortunate -ness of the disqualification at the Kentucky Derby. Because you know this is a really really fantastic horse for sure. I mean he's slowly and steadily starting to shed that tag of being the Horse Sector disqualified from the Kentucky Derby even though it will always remember that way. If you were to continue what you did last weekend easily going to be more remembered as one of the better horses heading into this decade in this early part of the century the obviously he's now ten million dollars in earnings in at this stage career. It's only getting go go higher. It'll be interesting to see where he gets brought back. I met in. Saratoga is kind of the midseason point. Four the connections there But honestly I think he's already cemented. His legacy added great horse. Just you know like cigar did way back when of when he won the inaugural Dubai World Cup. Maximum security is going to be able to say the same thing for the Saudi Cup where he'd be a really good group of Horses. I might add Definitely was not lighten any sense I think every horse for the most part Ranta form in the Saudi Cub ibew. Probably the biggest surprise people contend but definitely not be By a quarter of a lengthy Iran. Huge She's also in so many other horses from the race but maximum security Kind of a rough trip was definitely a target especially for teas on Mutual Gustavo. Louisa has had to get created down the stretch. But you work down in that. Horses has tons and tons of heart. I don't really know I've seen a horse. Who Does Not WanNa let him worse by like maximum security does. It's quite impressive. How this works bears down to every time he races and I just think I I I think we all know. He's in pre twenty twenty if he stays healthy yeah. That was another thing that I didn't quite get that opening. Bid Is the fact that you know. Maximum security did all that won the race while Iran Ortiz was basically writing interference. I made the comment to Eric Baxter. Excuse jokers still out there kind of looked like a NASCAR and now you can say all you want about. How you know. Probably wasn't the best rider. You didn't have good character of Iraqis. I thought it was a good strategy on his part to do what he could to be. Maximum security obviously probably definitely in this country If he would probably would have been disqualified but I thought it was good on his part to do his best to win. Win The race. And try to keep maximum-security away because I don't think I if you run that race normally maximum-security just goes by with the rules over there. They run category One rules which unlike in America the disqualification rules are if you preventing a worse from running their best race. You get disqualified. There is. That's worse when when you run interference or not so if mutual Gustavo Iraqis does dat but the horse wins by Lincoln half. It's not a problem. Give what was within the rules so it was a good ride? Bhai Iran It was definitely a little malicious. I certainly Jason Service not lease with IRA. Teaser was on the first things. He made a comment about after the race. In the in an interview shortly after On national television I might add But at the same time that's I mean the races aren't one you know like a track meet where you can necessarily go between the lane. This horse racing and that kind of stuff can fly to an extent maybe a little over the edge. I think especially when acting security job inside. I really started to hurt an inside but I was happy that I read never intentionally drew contact although he was doing some blocking like you said NASCAR ask He never intended to make contact which I think was probably the safest thing and when he when he knew the horses about to go by he kind of backed off on trying to get through so are running more interference so while maybe was maybe a little militias It definitely was good race riding on his part all right so that. That's it for this stuff with the Saudi Cup Stripping back over Cross sees out before we get to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks preparations that you want to highlight a Horse Zulu al folk who is turning into his own. You know I will highlight at about this point last year. This is were bricks and more bricks and mortar was not not saying that Zulu Alpha is going to be the next bricks mortar. Or anything like that. But you know he could do similar things to where it's very likely he's going to do similar things to what bricks and mortar didn't very likely that this is probably the top tier force in the United States. This year. You know at this point last year. Bricks and mortar was a great one Winnipeg World Cup turf and and then he had a great to race. I believe it was either at fairgrounds are one of the tracks Louisiana so to this point Zulu Alpha grade one winner Pegasus World Cup turf now. He's agreed to winner The Mac Ramadan down at Gulfstream. This past weekend. I think Zulu Alpha's in for a really strong really really strong two thousand twenty Keep your eye on him. Come for race like the turf classic the Kentucky Derby Undercard. That's where I would him go but not saying Zulu Alpha is an expert in order. But I'm not saying that he isn't either into Rena. Bricks and mortar was able to have consistent success last year is because all the worst is behind him weren't consistent. I mentioned on the show last week. That Group of forces that Zulu Alpa was facing. He actually used to be a part of that group they never were able to consistently put together strong back. That rates it's bricks. Mortar took it to a new level. Easily able to string together back Multiple consecutive good races in a row. And that's what God in his horse of the year title. And if these keep going the weather going is do. The wealth is going to be able to do the same thing last year Even though I was Kinda surprised after neier introduced the Turks Trinity Series that no horse really emerged from that as premier career force and to be chair. I mean we see that with Dirt horses as well on the on the Derby trail. They don't always shape out after the triple crown trail to be good and that kind of creates inconsistencies in the handicapped division like we saw maybe back Towards the end of maybe before the end of two thousand seventeen that you're got stronger as it went on but nevertheless China look into Alpa. Maybe like an expert in order. I wouldn't be surprised because once again the turf division isn't strong and If I'm going to throw one out there vitality is probably the best grass three year old male out there And I know. The connections are keen. Distract him out so he could be wanted content we know. He has loads talent. So at this point Zulu Alpha is primed at least stay home maleter force because so far. There are no challengers within a mile oven.

"I forget who I picked to their. I mean I I don't have my screen up here. is there's some. There's a motion in there. And you know the turf dash the six race. That's that's a good race with extravagant. Extravagant kid for Brendon walks. What claim that's ended up being but he's got he's got a run down pay any price the venerable ten year old who won eighteen out of thirty And the Jason Service scratched in play last week in from here at all streams to running over Tampa in this In this race. And there's and there's also worse than just a holic who hasn't run since late September Momma. But he got a one zero five buyer in his last race. And he's got he's got the open air outside boxing. This was so extravagant kid who will be favored He's GonNa have to work for this well and for those Keeping tabs at home marked Or meese in your the R F selection grid Agra Pino for For Mark The seventy two second Joyce where emotion second time starter with Scott Speak And then you went gator posse and mysterious Stereo Yeah that would be eight seven. Nine seven nine is correct Fifteen to one on gator policy for cats wheezy. Nice Mary. He's doing over there he's in. Yes yes I got a chance to visit with. I'm going over there. I'm GONNA try back. I'm only I'm only one for however many trips over there and that was with us. Good job all right well We'll check in the probably that week. certainly. I thought I'd say now that the baby is come. I guess my docket is clear. I guess I guess I could swing back into action for that That aborted fountain of Youth Tampa Bay Derby double so see if I can sell that to Tina as we drive home today from Rochester so.

"Here at the end. Shellman does suggest something who was in that eleven to fifteen range probably jumped in there so we don't know who I'm. I'm not sure that the way in which Eric just described this. I don't think the oaklawn race is in the numbers because as we know that we know that John Nichols hit the winner at Oaklawn. And I don't see it's number was up to the game coming rates. Nadal is the leader in the Constellation Tournament has one hundred six dollars dollars and sixty six zero six sixteen Dick Girardi jumps concept which all races had five and is upcoming race at Gulfstream twentieth places. Eighty two dollars and forty cents to forty. Eric was one because sixty that that says. Tampa five and John has to twenty nine dream and it hasn't that has not been added and I don't don't think so. Everybody was downloading Golfie right. This is it. Let's take a look at the this field quickly Gulfstream. I'm GonNa go six and a half and these are three year old maiden phillies It is a seven Horsfield. Your favorite is sixty five starlight dream for todd. Pletcher this is this. Is that a racing club runner. sixty-five we talked about this the other day on the Show Fashion Bay Jason Service. Five to second choice. Not.

"Brown and ride because other injuries happening. I'm today so Understand why I mean obviously does a lot of writing Khun Chad and now a lot of Kevin Itar puts the you know. Sasha Sashi jubilee is going to be a show the price tap today if you're handicapping as an agent and a writer you would take starship jubilee. But if you're looking at your business overall business you want to keep Chad happy you go well. That's the Salani River earlier on the card about two hours earlier the seventh race is going to be closely watched Mike Mike. Here's a mile and an eighth on the main track. And this is a serious serious grope you know let the if they are. I mean from a buyer standpoint and from a past performance ban point a lot of them are just okay so far but they're lightly raised eligible move forward again question embark on many of these Turns the mile and the name not too many of them have been around two turns before spots probably going to be the favourite for finishing second. GET BEHIND KIRO In a maiden race going a mile I read stick stick's with him And he's a horse. It probably should move forward again Dan so he's going to have to work out a trip post as not the best post going a mile and in that short run through the first turn same goes for all is west coming up that second. The CARPI ominous the copy ominous disappointing Running in an allowance race earlier in the week he's going to get a lot of money buyer wise. And just the Jason Service the traitor there But he's got post nine two so I'm a little against him. He's going to have to work out a trip and.

"With the quality of and maximum security wouldn't be in And so that's that's really just how it looked on paper and it shook out exactly that way at the only alternative that I really tried was harbor. And he just isn't good enough you know he wasn't good enough to compete with a maximum security. Gone Mad Day and and I think that Being rushed up in the middle of the race on the inside was probably not the best plan but it. He wasn't much better than the place where he finished in the best to clearly did their agreed. And I I did notice that it seemed like this performance when he came to maximum security seemed to be the one that maybe one over a the remaining doubters who just seem hell bent on on a sailing. Jason Service and finding any possible means available to ridicule him and the horse and it. I mean it's just. It's just the the attic attic. At this point. It makes it makes no sense so it was good horses over the years and all I would say is that you can hate a horse's the owner and trainer and still recognize the accomplishments. Spend there have been a lot of a lot of those over time. Gary West obviously has not really gender a lot of could feelings at all with the aftermath of the Derby. I understand the frustration with something like that. Must Be. It's borderline incomprehensible. But he's not done a whole lot to really create any sympathy or or even any positive feelings and and we can talk about Jason Service for a long time. Always redoing is basically talking about you know Voodoo cabins cloakrooms and things like that. We don't have anything concrete other than opinions and speculation so what we can acknowledge that the and I think you're exactly right. I think it was the performance that one quite a bit of people over. I actually felt like the bold ruler was the performance that won't be over and I did. I did actually have a lot of appreciation for the race that he ran the Haskell so I really wanted to see him in the travers and I think that would've been would have been very interesting especially the track was playing that day and the way the the pay shook out. And you know I'm not saying necessarily the code honor would've would or would not have beaten him. It would have been really fun to see it but you know look all we can do is hope that that he's healthy. Throughout twenty twenty and that we see him run again some of the the better handicap horses. Because I think they'll still be a few probably a couple of decent ones and And we'll see him actually prove it on the racetrack which would clearly be the most ideal scenario couple of performances We we've hit the rim sin discussion pretty well L.. Had Jerry O'Dwyer on on Monday just talked about it with Jay and earlier and asking yesterday but touch on the two year old races. I I know that you were as frustrated straight as I was not. That Lake Avenue wasn't a worthy winner of the demo. Zell it it just would have been nice to have seen the race unfold. The way it looked to anyone that reads past performances that there there were several other candidates to vie for the lead. And you know when you go to make a bed you can only base it on on. What what the paper tells you? And then of course the horses of the winners allowed to just kind of skate around on the the front end. Yeah you know. These full-scale tactic changes that.

"We've got a great deal of scenario now and we will travers is going to be emceeing Jim Dandy yet but even leading into that. This is interesting set up. This is going to be I I can't I can't really I'm excited his three-year-old pictures you know it's scrambled right. I mean security deserves the beat the top <hes> nobody's going to beat them in the dirty whether he's what do you think you salary than South Yeah. Nobody agreed agreed that cigarette so so. What are these dirty one? Ask Go pretty well well. That's the keys what's interesting is that he's he's going to come here and looking. Looking forward I've been trying to catch up with with Jason Service and maybe it will be until he gets the town but he's bringing him to Saratoga and he'll be there for everybody to see and watch train and we'll the the that'll that'll enhance the the build up to the the interesting way that trained horses. I would like more information on that. I would like you know <hes> Gallup's much as talking at some trainers but there's reasoning what he does and I'd like to know series thanking they will get a hold of John if you can if he could gazing crap because the teachers thing you know I'd like I'd like to see you know video probably must take five minutes formed the do everything that they do out there for ten minutes. I don't know just like the interesting degree. He's got a high profile horse who he he's trained his way all the way along and by the way Steve You know hats off to you for <hes> and I am sorry for gentleman's vein but you had the good manager for for the West on then glass a lot. Yes yes explains why out game for Sixteen Sixteen very open and honest and that that Sh- settled down a lot of my fears wasn't necessarily a serious physical issue that made them on for sixteen at this and you know I wonder I don't know I don't know this but I wonder if perhaps training the way Jason Bugs not not really having go six zero four furlongs. You know what's the ring work or five work but this unusual way that he trains perhaps just didn't show show anything he well. He had he had he he had they. They've they've said that he had some issues as a two year old and that they were dealing with at all you know off and on and <hes> you know that that's part of it as well and I said this again yesterday on TV they gave away the stallion. They gave away the damn there. There was not a single sibling that had that had raised off there was this is an outfit. The Gary West team buys horses for an average of about three to four hundred fifty eight thousand. That's their typical purchase price. They didn't need a home bread by New Year's Day who had been sent off to South America to Brazil they. They weren't expecting anything because there was no reason to expect anything but now they've got something and I that I I gotta say I said this late yesterday with Nick Zito with us on T._V. The disdain and the way in which people talk about out says Jason Service Gary West and this horse is disgusting. It's disgusting.

"You had been say one of my favorite places. And there's some interesting things to talk about including something I mentioned the other day about the Kentucky Derby, the fallout from the derby continues. I mentioned that my second cousin Jason service is was the trainer for maximum security. So it was a shocking turn of events when the horse that came in. I his horse was disqualified, and as you can imagine a terrible terrible disappointment. And there was an appeal. So the the owners I mentioned this the other day filed an appeal over the stewards derby disqualification, they cited, and I mentioned this also arbitrary capricious acts by race stewards in reviewing the Kentucky Derby, and the appeal was filed through the lex election based attorney and the races winning horse was disqualified dropped to seventeenth if you don't know the story that I'm talking about. And we'd be talking about this in the man cave when stewards ruled he drifted out of his running lane and impacted the PR. Progressive other horses in the race making second-place country house a long shot the the winner. So what they're saying is they had a lengthy review the stewards declined to feel questions from anybody in the media after the derby, but the chief steward for the state of Kentucky. Barbara Borden, read a prepared statement and said we had a lengthy review of the race. We interviewed affected writers. We determined that the seven horse maximum-security drifted out an impact of the progress of number one war of will turn interfering with.

"A little update yesterday. We spent a lot of time talking about the Kentucky Derby and the disqualification of maximum security putting sixty five to one shot country house for Bill Motte his trainer and Flavia up top as the winner of Kentucky Derby one four five. We did yesterday that Gary west was on the today. Show. Right. So he said he's his horse maximum security trained by Jason service will go into the Preakness could appeal the disqualification so that appeal by the by the KHRC, the Kentucky horse racing commission has already been denied. And so John four G counsel for the KHRC wrote that west is entitled to a hearing because owners licensed in Kentucky agree to abide by the Commission's rules and regulations, including that stewards decisions can't be challenged. And they consider that basically to be final. Now, they will still review it on Thursday. Tasr the racing manager for Gary Mary west Ben glass is going to be traveling to Churchill Downs to review the film review the video with the stewards out there Churchill down. So they will be doing that on Thursday. And there are reports that. That potentially a lawsuit could be filed this one of those things I don't know that was it. They'll lawsuits filed it hasn't been filed yet. But there's the potential that a lawsuit could be filed just like what is it? Just it's going to keep on building more and more and end up with a civil lawsuit looks like and they want they want the the money. That's you're the percentage chair sixty percents winners percentage. Share sixty percent that goes to country house that to be held before. So I didn't. So it doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon because once you follow lawsuit. I know the appeal got thrown out, right? Quick a lawsuit that could drag out for a while. Oh, no doubt a Ken. And that's probably gonna look it happen. You know in front of the world. I mean, the whole outlander Ovilla losses. We laid it out yesterday won the race. But then obviously with the roles in foul up. You can't blame them for forgot. You can't blame them. Goes deep as the lawsuit. I don't play. I don't buy them at all that the whole team. Now. I don't now I did speak with somebody else. They talked about right? A buddy of mine who's who's friends with Bill Motte? Who's I asked him? I go, you know, and I'm gonna try get Bill on our show. Maybe before the. I didn't know that. Oh, yes. Oh, nothing's gab trying to get them on what I asked him this question. I said he spoke to him. Does he feel like a little kind of you know, is it as is it as great of a victory for him. He goes now, obviously, it's not you know, as force. They cost the great thing yet. So. I'm gonna try. Him and Baker Mayfield back the died about working. "I happen to be watching an a restaurant it without the audio. So I'm watching across the room. And I'm noticing this. There's no not raping the roses over the worst though excitement as everyone just standing around, and it kept showing the steward's room where they were looking at tapes like ILD instant replay business, and then the moment came down. In the history of the Kentucky Derby. The life. I has been disqualified. After the country wins Kentucky. That's not correct Michael because back in sixty eight dancer's image won crossed first answers image. Yes dancers. Imaging got the squalor. Find a couple of days later on a drug deal drugs. There has been there was one of the disqualification, but you know, to parse it this is the first time it's happened on the track at the day. Can you imagine people often time rip up tickets and stuff, right? And now a guy who, you know, had maximum security the owner by the name of Gary west he's threatening now to appeal in some way or go to court any sue. You can do it. Every once it's America. I don't think it'll get resolved. But can you imagine if somehow that got overturned again, how would you pay off paid off sixty five to one odds on country house you have to give the money back? This is all hypothetical. I can't imagine. I think I would think all bet stand. And that's that's the brakes. But anyway, this is the this is the trainer Bill mod. Who all of a sudden found out? He was a winner. It's actually very it's bittersweet. I'd be lying. If I said, it was any different. I mean, I like, you know, you always wanna win with the with the clean trip and everybody recognize the horse. Well, this is the now let's hear from the trainer of a maximum security. Is name is Jason service looked like he came.

"Is that necessarily good for the sport. And that's where you can get into a discussion about talking point here because the arguments going to be made guess, there's no doubt that on the final turn maximum security will Louise Sayas aboard trade by a great trader Jason service who I was win races at about a fifty percent clip down at Gulfstream Park over the course of the winter. It is a stellar trainer on on the New York Racing Association circuit. Yeah. There's no doubt entering the far torn the horse by the wall of sound with well over one hundred thousand people Churchill Downs with the rainfall down TASR got a little spooked started to come out initially size. Got him a bore got got him back toward the rail. And then got spooked once again by the wall of sound a came out and interfered with war of will. Who that interfered with what was long range toddy voted express, who then you know, kinda bump, but not really country house, and then came back in as Louise's Sayas was able to to get them straightened straightened out once again, a came down on code of honor never touched them, but came back down to the two path. And then you had the, you know, the final two furlong sprint to the finish as maximum security proved to be the best. So you look at it the maximum security ever interfere with country outs. No, no. He never did d country house every opportunity to run down maximum security in the lane. He did did country house run him down. He did not. So I I think people are gonna look at the Kentucky Derby and look at the the runnings of Derby's gone by and say that it really is a cavalry charge into the first turn where there's all kinds of bumping. We're guys are getting cut off. There have been a number of instances where there's been quote unquote, rough. Race-riding going into the far turn and you've never had this transpire before why? Now where country house at every opportunity to win that race and was not good enough. And they're gonna look at it and say, well, why decide to take back some scary not saying, it's right, but war will at every opportunity after that. I understand he cut over autumn nearly clipped heels could've taken war of will down a created tremendous spill, but it did not happen. So I agree with you. If you're going to look at it being the sixth race at at Akwa, Dr Belmont or Saratoga del mar sanity any track and the stores are going to look at it and say all right, we're going to take that horse down. But this is more important than the six race at at any at any circuit across America. Is this the is this what you want coming out of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday out over necessarily is. I you know, I hear what you're saying. And I appreciate everything said, and you commentary, and I respected and and all that I do moose, but I gotta say I. I believe in when it comes to officiating. No matter what sport. And some could argue that close races. Not a sport. It is whatever that it doesn't matter that Stuart says officiate and has rules, and I believe in consistency. He got to have consistency. And that's what they did. They had consistency. Your point is not in the Turbie. There hasn't been true because the Breeders Cup Classic number years ago where Byron interfered with a horse, and they decide to keep the result. As was out say that Anita and they kept Byron up that. Well, that's a lack of consistency in the big race, which they shook they shouldn't have done. But I, you know, and I hear you. I don't know what to say. I mean, that's kind of like what are you going to say it's like water on an abridged kind of. But you're right. Well, right. But but, but I I think you pointed out you exit question on, you know, and I'm sure it was more talk. Oh, but I want to say because a lot of people. I think asking that same thing you're asking is this good for also raising this good for the Kentucky Derby. I think it is. I think this controversy is real good. Listen who. Who watches the conduct Kentucky Derby extremely casual horse racing fans that they watch if they watched one race a year. It's this race. I've had the Kentucky Derby, always falls around my son's birthday. So when my son was little we always had a party from but family of and that was always wants to race started. Everybody's around the TV watching Rochester race everybody. No matter if my dad got recipes soul, of course, he was in the front row. Watch them. But my point is everybody was watching. And that's the thing. Everybody wants the Kentucky Derby, and then don't watch. They don't want the Preakness. They don't watch the I'm examiner say they don't and the bulk of people as you know, move stone. They don't watch the races. But now, you know, this controversy you watch the Raeside. It's two minutes out. I was great. This never any picks loss by the knee. I like to I like the name improbable. He's gonna win. No. I liked the name win win win. Then was gonna win. That's what happens then not like people like yourself that heavily into it. So too casual fan now talking about this not just as the race happens it after the race the next day the day after which I think helps build more spread the awareness. More of the sport. So in essence, I think it is good for the for the game that because people talking about it. No, I get a I see what you're saying. But I mean, who's the best who's the best force on Saturday. It'd be tough to argue that you have to say on Saturdays maximum security who now. Yeah. No. If you're gonna look at him as as being the best horse. He he did never interfered really with. He gets put up who who maximum Security Bank beat by basically the length of three quarters and drop the seventeenth, right? But but also you could make the argument that people are also frustrated because there's going to be a number. There's going to be a number of people that put down twenty bucks. Maximum security is the betting favourite when the gates did open on Saturday, and they're going to look at it and say, wait a second. I get that he interfered with war of will. But war of will in the final eighth of a mile flattened out, which in racing terms means that you know, he was exhausted in done with his race writing about an eighth of a mile before the finish and finished eighth or ninth in the race. You know, you look at long range Saudi boaty expressed there were never win in the race and country. House didn't fear interfere with code of honor and country house never really interfered with every opportunity to win the race. And I understand it costs placing, but I could probably go back to other derbies being run. And I'm sure I could and probably more than five or ten. Ten and say that there was a horse that interfere with another horse that costs that horse a place in these. That's really what the rule is. So if you go back to what the stewards are reviewing the stewards are reviewing not necessarily the and there was a claim of foul. So there's a couple of things that go into this right number one the three stewards that are watching every race right and how races run. So there's two ways that a race? Call could be called a race could be called into question after a race after horses crossed the finish line number one. It could be a quote unquote inquiry. So when inquiry is basically the stewards watching the race realize that the race was not run on the level. Or something transpired in the race horse. Got cut off a horse got steadied, whereas momentum get stopped. He's another cut in front of a bad race writing. Whatever he did something. So they can put up what is called an inquiry. So an inquiry is at say a level ten right? When the stewards will look at it. Then you have a quarter. Jockey's objection. So when this race went final. There was no stewards inquiry. There was a jockey's objection, and I've seen a number of jockeys of Jackson's over the course of my life where it is. The rare instance that a jockey's objection then leads to a disqualification, and that's what happened here. So you had Flavian Pratt initially claimed tell the outrider, and the outrider is what you see, you know, there every horse is basically a a a man or a woman on top of another horse. They're called outriders. So when the courses are going up to the starting gate, they're usually Har, you know, paired up with another horse at another not jockey. But another rider on another horse at old, thoroughbred or or standard bread. What have you and they lead them to the starting gate? That's how you kinda. Usually do it in American racing. Yes. In European racing. Horses are like go. There are such things as our writers. I know I'm getting into the weeds a little bit. But so the jockey after he crosses the finish line tells. The outright or they outright is a communication device. Relays it saying that basically hold the hold it for a second. We have a claim a Fowler jockeys objection. And that's what transpired here. Practice practice that. Right. And then there was a report basically ten minutes after practice that John court who's fifty eight years of age ride in the race on long range. Todd fifty fifty. Rot. He also claimed. He he also objected to the finish about how the race was run. But that was ten minutes after Flavia practice. There were two jockeys that did it that caused the twenty two minute delay and the review there so TASR I would look at it and say, all right? The stuarts watched the race looked at it said. All right. We didn't see anything initially. And then all the sudden you have the jockeys objection which I get and I'm not telling me that they didn't make the right decision. I get that they made the right decision. However, you have now an instance here where people are gonna look at maximum security as being the best horse that day on derby day that there's been rough riding in Kentucky derbies in years gone by we're horses have never been taken down. And now all the sudden, and it takes a lot for a horse thing of taken down. And this kind of a race that I get I get those that are congratulating the Kentucky stewards. But I also think it turns the spotlight opt, of course racing. But I also don't know if necessary. Early is turns it into the best light because people are going to look at and say, wait a second. I just watched what I watched and other people are going to bring up multiple examples of r- rough race riding in in other big stake races were no changes wherever made why the decision to make this change today. Yeah. You know? I mean, listen he could an understand what you're saying. I can't. I mean, I like I said, I don't have a problem with it. I think because I like I said, I believe in consistency. I see another big stake races other big races. They haven't done this and they conscious like we see in a more of a mainstream sport NFL or the NBA whatever wear when it comes out to a bigger game. The ref show you'll hit wrestle say Russell said the within let you know, we're not gonna call every little call, you know. And and you see that a lot big at that point. I get I get where you come from that. I I mean, I kind of it's almost like wig feel bad for country house and its owner and Pratt because they win. But it's like now look that. Like did you win? You didn't really win because maximum security was being real problem. I have with it most is that maximum security drop down like not not to second or third or fourth or fifth to seventeenth. That's what a little perplexed. Why dropped seventeen because it's in the rules. You drop them below the horse that he interfered with the MO Gotcha. Gotcha. I'll say thank God. Yeah. I didn't know if it was a one on one interference with country house say he came out on country. The stretch and he ended up being country as they would have dropped below country out. I see so save interfered with code of honor. He would have dropped them below code. So they drop them all the way back behind the horse that they felt like he was you know, the biggest biggest interference was caused to. That's why they dropped them all down there. Okay. That's how that's how that rule works. But yes. Tasr? Listen, I look at it and say yes to the interfere a what did he come out? Yes. There's no doubt by the letter of the law. The issue. I have is the horse that finished second. He didn't really interfere with and the other horses were winning the race. I mean, they they were you know, the the other horses were not running the race. Moore of will. I get that. He came came out in front of them a little bit or will was not going to win that race and the NFL every opportunity even after country even after Lewis, I was able to regather maximum security once again, those horses had the entire length of the stretch to pass and they didn't pass inaugural. No augment. You have four wars that were dead even on the track and maximum security was the better of those horses. And I agree with you that see that's the point. You mentioned the point that that's the biggest thing is now you're gonna go into that Preakness. And yes country house was declared the winner of the Kentucky Derby, but country house is unlike any other derby champion that we've ever seen one hundred forty five year history. He is he's going to go to the Preakness guess having been declared the winner. But he didn't really win the Kentucky Derby. I do not. Qualifier on an extra five weeks. Save country house wins the Preakness and wins. The Belmont Stakes. Are you going to be viewed as.

"Of this race into the first turn was very clean looked like to me. Couldn't really see anything going on that wasn't right. Everybody got their positions and out down the backside into the stretch and just coming into the stretch maximum security did their out. I don't know if he's tied for something. He kinda got more of wills way. There was some contact there. Don't see any inquiry flashing right now they are looking at it on the big screen replay right now, but he won by far enough. I really don't think they're going to think about this moment for the winning jockey Luiz. I s he is a native of Panama a year ago. He finished next to last in this race. He has experienced tragedy. His. Younger brother one lost his life. As the result of injury sustained in a writing accident when one was only seventeen years old through it all the we has persevered he's continued to pursue his dream. And now has just won the Kentucky Derby dreams to come. True here Churchill Downs, the twin spires they've done it for all of the connections maximum security, including owners, Gary Mary west Jason service, the trainer and his alluded to jockey Louise, Sayas how about the effort Gary from the runner up country house the other Bill if you will he had Tacitus much more highly regarded runner and the country house who went off at sixty five one. So we talked about in the lead into the race ran a monster. As to be made a nice move up the rail when they turned for home think about your winning trainer Jason service. He grew up in West Virginia grew up in the horse business. He spent a lot of years assisting family members with their horses. Of course, he's brother John the Kentucky Derby is the trainer with smarty Jones number of years ago. Jason never took out his trainer's licence until he was forty four years old. He's now sixty two years of age and with his second Kentucky Derby starter. He has won the run for the road for about that who had three horses in here. Great now, he's going out eight to one and let me give you the specifics because I've studied this intensively he's been on defeated. He's got a great running style. He can handle a dry or wet Shaq. Is you don't know, you know? Between dry and often times. It does rain there in Kentucky at derby. He's got a good jockey. Right. Good. Jackie O k Lewis say as but oh, this is what puts them over the top makes him five top-shelf. He's got a train them. Who knows everything there is about racing which introduced to me also by Michael Dobbs. This guy Jason service, and he's got an uncanny ability. He can look at a horse. He can watch from fishing. He can see the horses Tong sticking out. And he'll know exactly how many furloughs that was we the win all full back into the pack. You just made me think of something when I was down there. We were taken to a one of these big horse farm places, whatever they're called. And we saw what like some major major horse having his way with fill fill your colleague. We had to watch it. It was a big deal. You got to see horrify that. It was one of the most upsetting. I everybody was so fascinated by grove was there. I was you got to see the horse amount to mayor and all that comes with it. Let me tell you that was disturbing. Millions of dollars in that fluid. Sometimes I know people were like they felt like it was it was Christmas being able to I was cracking up. And apparently, you're not supposed to laugh. Excited with the horses. Yes. The horse was doing thing with the other thing, I can assure you it wasn't a gelding. Right. I don't know what it was. We don't gilding is. Now, he's been separated from his three P. I mean, it had a thing. I'll just it was it was the size of you. It was disturbing so sick. And I it so hysterical. Oh, we're watching history in the making. I'm like, are you joking sick mayor in pain? I she was. Yeah. She was you know. Yes. This is this is horrible. Why why are you guys so blessed to wash nightmare? They have a bunch of Saudi share, you know, billionaire with schmaltz ready to buy the horse. No, no, no. This was this was a horse at a very famous persons farm with a rant whatever it was called. You. I had. Of that g compared him gelding. But any gentlemen, I've made you money before with the picks of Johnny legit in stable. Boy, I'm gonna make you more money tomorrow. "I don't know. You know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Passages passes just also right Durkan's called they're running Mott's running to rent a big race today. When I signed for. That was two weeks ago and Jason service ended up opting with final jeopardy up coming to New York, and that grump little pots is gonna run to from the service barn. No, I don't. I'm not familiar with final jeopardy. Who is that was the that was the the the runoff down in Florida that that the eye Popper that then was three for three is that the three for three hours the other one, which is the one that starts sixteen thousand dollar claim it clip. That's that's the other the other one. But I guess I will. Website the website. You can get the PP's of exactly which base should be the race to boot show, and and others. We and you also. You've also got outshined Todd is gonna join us in about twenty minutes, and and Kelly rubies, looking to run always mining great. So yeah. Ten Horsfield writer race every year the Carter. Well, you gotta be happy were world of trouble is finally going to do what he supposed to do. He's he's been talking to Mike about quite a bit. Then he agrees with visa, you know, he was obviously he calls the shots. But. Suck going to based on what I'm saying. But you know, I've been talking about it with them quite a bit. I think I think the world of world trouble. He's a really cool or right? I mean, unusual to be talented as both on the turf ender sprinting, and I really think he deserves the opportunity to try these these these these big races. And it turns out that he's not good enough to win these these bigger races than they can always remember the and go back church sprints, but you know, the chance for him to to to establish himself as more of dirt. And you'd have to think he's going to be. It's not the favorite one of the favorites for the Carter. The absolute perfect race for them. And I'm just thrilled. He's gonna right up there. I just think he's super super talented ores. There's an organism sprinters around. Now any right? So they're all in Dubai with Phil. Yep. And agents such and for him to be here is a real edge. I think. I agree. And I'm looking forward to running put it worse now, and he could be one of the most outsources racing country. We honestly the that that turf that turf sprint effort. Just but even the officer raises, right? No everything. His you know, his race in the Woody Stevens. When you look at it Iran every bit as well as promises built it who went onto the Amsterdam and the the in the Allen jerkins, the only member that for euro crop beat holders. We win the Phoenix. Well, why won't trouble basically, his peer and they chose to go with a turf with them. But I'm I'm not sure it was the move that. Ultimately was was was what he did. Well, I'm not knocking them. But maybe he's better on third right in really chance. Well, he's gonna get it and perfect opportunity. With everybody dancing dances out in may, Dan. I happen to been up early. "So I think speeds going to be dangerous in this kind of scenario with a lot of horses that are a little bit more slower to develop in terms of running style. But you definitely want to you want to include the logical. I thought on bridled one who. As run to his best races. At laurel made perfect sense seems to have gotten back to maybe got finally to the form that we all hope eventually get too early in his career when he just kinda label as a chronic loser. And getting back from the Hooper, obviously is a pretty significant class drops. And yet Managua Hilo who closed well for Jason service around second in the queen's county has actually when he was in Kelly release care now is with Jason service. This is a horse who also has potential to move forward. But numbers for Jason service off trainer changes. But never Jason service period are out of this world. But off trainer changes. They really are incredibly winning nearly fifty percent clip. So I think you can certainly expect to that horse to move forward. Especially given that he shown all kinds of talent. What will be interesting to see is if he develops any type of early speed because we've really seen a number of these Jason service new arrivals develop a good bit of early speed when they get into his care, the General George outstanding. It's a big field. It's got basically everything you'd want. It's got speed. It's got some stalking types that look very interesting and also some closers that I think are going to are going to get just a fine setup. And that includes something awesome who second to back, and and what was kind of a long range prep for this race. Also won the General George back in February of last year that was over track. This is obviously a resource doesn't need to take track with him. He ended up coming out of that and winning a couple of races at various different places. So I think you can expect on him running late. But I gotta go back to my old friend still having fun who I thought really didn't have the greatest run of it in the Malibu I can to put him into that race quite a bit earlier than he needed to be. And it just felt like if you gave still having fun identity politics is trip. I mean, he would have been very clear very comfortable second. So I'm I wanna give him another try. I feel like this is a horse that seven eighths really fits. Ideally, he's finally going to be back in a fast paced race going back through his PP's. He hasn't been in a race with fast paced, the jerkins and horses like promises will. Filled them friends. They fire are just a little bit too much from prior to that the only fast pace he was able to run into in the Woody Stevens. And we know what happened that day. So this is a horse who might end up getting a little bit more support than he deserves just because of his reputation, but I still think at around five to one he's he's perfectly fair bet. Because jeez. I mean, you look through this field, and and between uncontested and Colonel sharp and to an extent more trouble. And lackey has speed. It's good to be us has speed. And the real speed comes from the outside with long may you run? So I mean, this thing looks like it could be overloaded with pace as long as we don't get a bunch of scratches. I could imagine they'll go very very quickly in here. And and I think for me that's going to set up perfectly for for like still having fun. And to a great extent. Also, something awesome. What about what about homerun maker who could set up shop behind the dueling pace the advantage? He has for sure is that he's going to be a little bit closer..

"This is a an intimate Philly out of a song, the prayer Clark, Lynn, farm bread. And this is this is a fun is a fun group. You've also got. That palace Princess. Daddy pints. This is a hard spun home bred for Bob Lewan alot. And that damn airy ENZA was a was a nice she she got hurt. I think as a as a three year old, but pints trained Ariane's she was a state. She. Something like the fantasy or is. She was a she was a nice that name caught my attention. And I'm sure I'm sure winning for the lows on opening day at Oaklawn Danny would would like to do that. There's there's no whenever you look at at these Oakland cards there. There's never a shortage of the local. The local odors. And yeah, I mean, that's a fun. Check to speak. Yeah. We started the conversation. That's a that's a really fun. Check. Believe longs. And there's also horse point out. There's a first level allowance for Phillies, go and five and a half. And there's a an undefeated horse that Jason service had for Gary and Mary west you'll recall from last year the two year old flashy. Dow the this was an early winter for New Year's day and she's been transferred to Joe sharp and shows up in this spot. That's the seventh. That was your you're involved to you've got the Dallas has got beautiful tail. In there. This is pretty. Seventh race I level while it's going just five and a half. But it this is a this is this is. Were you really? Sure. Gary mary. That's right. The west. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's. I know I it there's a lot going on here. There's also that that is STAN Philly that that Barry Jones has that that had the big win Keeneland. Is the council eighty-five buyer when she what she broke her maiden. So this this looks like it's a good, listen, it's it's Oaklawn they're giving away real money. It's. Everybody looks forward to this. Oaklawn is really what what's gone on there. And of course, the first the first full season under the sons, the cell sons. A lot of good things again at Oakland. Well, this was as always. Always informative.
