"Linebacking corps. That stands out and as a former linebacker myself with Jack Barrett provided David Devon White and Jason Pierre Paul right now those guys are so good at getting the quarterback think they disrupt the underneath routes by Travis Kelsey. Three kills streaking across the middle. I think that that is going to allow Tom Brady to play his game and command this and I got buccaneers 31 27. You guys always do this to me and you make me break the tie Because you guys can't agree. I have agonized over this all day. I feel like there has never been a Super Bowl in my lifetime where I have been so split. On who I want to choose, but I am going to side with field. Oh, go with Kansas City. Just me and this is close like this is this is not me feeling confident at all. I love Tampa Bay's defense, hers to your point. Their pass rush. Certainly over the last several games has been deadly, but I feel In the same breath that there's something about betting against Patrick Mahomes in the Kansas City Chiefs similar leads when we talk college football, and I tell people you don't bet against Alabama like you just don't do it. And that's how I feel in making this pic. I got to go with baby goat. In the Kansas City Chiefs, but I think it's gonna be close similarly to how we saw it earlier in the season, Chiefs won 27 24 last time these two teams played. I don't think this is going to be a blowout. By any means, so that being said Where do you guys think we land from a scoreboard? Prediction? High scoring low scoring lot of defense Lot office. I'm going 33 28 a lot of points here tonight. Let's go. Okay. All right. Yep. Yep. Yep. So there's that. Yeah. I mean, I said 31.7 think we're all kind of right in there. We think it's going to be You're going to score basically, touchdown, a quarter and then you know, a field goal and one of them right. So, like I feel like that's gonna relatively consistent scoring throughout the.

"I love what they've been able to do in terms of forcing turnovers, So I think it's gonna be a great battle to watch. I don't expect Mike Evans to go off for 200 yards receiving or anything like that. When it comes to the Buccaneers Key to success to me, It really comes down to the defense's side of the ball. And more specifically, the defensive front, right? I think that's a fucking is need to try to take advantage of the Chiefs offensive tackles right way. No, they don't have Mitchell Schwartz or Eric Fisher. Jason Pierre Paul Shack there need to find ways to get to Patrick Holmes early and often to try to contain him, not let him get outside the pocket. Make the big time throws down the field, just trying to create some chaos there on the line of scrimmage so that they could get the chief's office off the field. I'm gonna have my eye on the chief's office of Wine versus the Buccaneers defensive line for sure. I've been saying that that's how I think Tampa can steal this game. I'm picking Kansas City to win 35 to 24. I do want to get your official prediction, but If Tampa is going to be able to steal this game, I think it's going to be because shack bear when Sue Brolin VP or because Jason Pierre Paul would suit Bolin VP their pass rush one than the game to me against New Orleans. I thought their pass rush one than the game against Green Bay that I don't think Tampa Bay's path to winning is trying to outscore Kansas City. I think it's that defense neutralizing Kansas City's offense. Yeah, I agree with that, And we can even kind of zoom out a little more. I think that the Buccaneers linebacker could play a big role as well. We know how good are these Two guys are robotic. Steven is a better and Devon White's incredible They do a good job in terms of pass coverage as well. So that's why I met you said You shot Travis Kelsey how we know it's gonna be good, and he's probably score touchdown, maybe even two. But how much can this Buccaneers linebackers limit them? I mean, I think that you know Tom Brady's a legend. We all know that. But in my mind just watching these games in the postseason, it's really been camping based defense that has kept them in the game and really kind of Put those games on ice against drew praise. And that, of course against Aaron Rodgers a couple weeks ago. So yeah, this defensive front, including the linebackers for the Buccaneers is gonna be absolutely key if they want to. In the Super Bowl in their home stadium. Right now we're talking to Jordan to Johnny. He covers the NFL for CBS Sports. Lot of conversation here has been about Mahomes Path toe being the greatest quarterback of all time and obviously resume wise. There's a lot of work to go. But when you watch my homes, do you think it's possible? Is it feasible to think at the end of his career, he'll be able to call himself the greatest quarterback of all time. At this point time, I think everyone has to agree that it's possible. I mean what he's been able to pull off in. What is it? I guess this is a second full season three total seasons. It's absolutely incredible and I mean, just looking at the stats. Patrick Holmes Looks like he's on the way to being an NFL legend and Tom Brady found unprecedented success in the Super Bowl. But Article. Holmes has made it back to back times now, and he's still a young buck. So, yeah, I think we have to agree that Patrick hold his honest way to, at least in the conversation for the goat. And, you know, I think that that's gonna be a conversation. We have a lot next week if he is able to defeat Tom Brady tomorrow. I think that conversation ends, though, if he loses as great as my Holmes's, But I sort of made the basketball analogy where you know when you're watching a game, and if you hit a shot, you'll tie the game up. But you miss a shot. Long rebound. Other team goes down and you talk about that that four point swing That's what this would be being down six or being down four obviously, is a wild difference between the two. Mahomes can go down as one of the greatest If if they lose this game, but I think the path to calling yourself the greatest ends on Sunday if the Chiefs lose Yeah, for sure. And real quick on it correct myself. I think I said, this is a second full season. Obviously, it's third. I'm not that much solace. But in terms of Yeah, it's interesting point you make. I've been really kind of taking a step back and actually looked at that in terms of being down a certain number of Super Bowls. So I think you make a great point there. I haven't considered that. But man, Patrick the homes just what he's been able to accomplish in such a short time. He's only 25 years old. I mean, it looks like the Chiefs are kind of set up toe, start their own dynasty and give the least time radio run for his money. I agree with you there, but, yeah, that's a really interesting point. I guess I have to consider that in the coming weeks. Let me ask you this about Brady is somebody who's followed his career. What would you consider to be his greatest accomplishment? Because if he wins this Super Bowl, I think it goes at the top of the list. But what would you have it at right now? That's a great question, because there's so many things we could talk about Tom Brady's legacy in the NFL. I mean, it's pretty incredible How many Super Bowls he's been in? How many Super Bowls? He's one. But you know, my mind really has gone to just this past season. I mean, even if the Buccaneers lose On Sunday. It's incredible that they've gotten to this point that Tom Brady at 43 years old was able to undergo his first ever change of scenery to a new team for the first time in his career. And not only bring the talent under center that he has, but just bring the culture of success and moving or incongruity that he's been able to bring to this franchise to turn them in from the 17 19. Way playoff contender that went three straight road playoff games to get to this point, the Super Bowl. I think that's an incredible achievement. It's something that I definitely did not see coming this season and I mean, like you said, Tom. Like I said, I guess Tom Brady hasn't necessarily been you know, in MPP candidate you know, we found his ups and downs this year. But the fact that he's just been able to be a leader for this team on and off the field and in the defense has followed his lead as well and trying to save him when Tom Brady makes three straight interceptions and in the NFC championship game, It's incredible, and he's it can't be overstated the kind of culture that he's been able to implement and Tampa Bay and and that's exactly why they're at this point fighting for a Super Bowl victory in their home stadium Sunday. Have the Chiefs winning 35 to 24. What do you think the final score of this game will be? Yeah, I forgot my official score. I.

"I try to get to bed in a regional time, but then their sports going on in the whole Kevin Durant thing last night. Let me have a little bit later, just reading his tweets and seeing the reaction to some of it to miss the beginning of the show. I was talked about it and Kevin Durant's clearly frustrated. You know he wants to play, and he even called out the MBA on his Twitter and people were mocking the use of the phrase abundance of caution. That the MBA had put out there, but I mean, I actually think Katie, not playing is an abundance of caution. You know, the guy has already had Cove ID. He's registered three negative tests in the last 24 hours. You know, these guys are tested every day. Um and and I think Durant wanting to play or feeling he's being held out necessarily unnecessarily. I'm sorry being held out unnecessarily. Jives with the idea that They're acting in an abundance of caution. I think that the circumstances how it went down last night with him, not starting the game and then going into the game and then being pulled from the game lead to a lot of confusion, and I was confused as well. But I'm going to give the lead the benefit of the doubt. They have Protocols in place. I'm sure experts were consulted and these experts know better than people on Twitter. Right, And it's just there's no perfect solution during stuff like this and and you know, you just see the same pattern of just like group attacks on groupthink sort of things on these incidents. Every time one happened. It's like, Shut it down, or or these people are idiots are making a mockery of it. Happen with the NFL, too, And it's unfortunate. We all know why leagues go on. We all know what the number one motivating factor is for four leagues, and that's the bottom line. No, no one's making any bones about that. But I just You know, the Kevin Durant thing blew up because of him posting online and the way it went down, But I don't I don't really quite understand the outrage. I see from some people online about it, who are acting like they know better than the people who put together some of these protocols. I don't pretend to understand it all. Do that. Perfect Yuri, either, but I also don't pretend that I know more than people who genuinely do know about these things. Let's go next to Jae in Maryland, J. You're on the Robin Lovebirds Show here on CBS Sports Radio. What's up, J. Hey, Good morning, man. Hey, thanks for taking my call. First time caller. Um, hey up. Just want to chime in on the Brits. First Chiefs prediction. Um, I'm good with the bucks in this one. Um, I think the bucks are already I think that the loss of the two tackles is gonna be huge. Um, the number one reason I think that is simply because the more I know when the Bucks and that she's played the first time it was early on the season wasn't early early, but Kind of like, mid season. Um Key piece was missing, and that will be the Vega. Vita Valya. If you watch if you watch some of the games like When they played the Packers last week. One of the reasons why I shot Barrett and Jason Pierre Paul got off like that, on the edge is because he draws an instant double team..
The GOAT Whisperer: The Man Who Lured Tom Brady To Tampa
"So greg first question. Where are you right now. I have met the media center for the super bowl which is in the tampa convention center. Kinda for all that around downtown tampa but is not quite busy here yet. So it's a little bit still kind of thought out. I'm sure in in forty eight hours. It'll be crazy here. Well greg sunday will be the first time that a super bowl is played in the home city of one of the two competing teams. What is the feeling in tampa right now. In the up to the game as you walk around drive around you feel a super bowl frenzy even in this pandemic couple days city is enjoying a run like it's never had. He had the stanley cup at world series in october. God and now. I think just making the boy. I would have been a big step for this team but see them win. Three road playoff games. And now be as you said in a super bowl in their own stadium. It's been a wild six months for tampa or to be sure we wanted to pick your brain a little bit about the guy who many people credit with building this bucks super bowl team. Gm jason light when he joined the bucks seven years ago. This team was more or less in disarray. How has he rebuilt it. I think he's done a very good job of drafting three touchdown. She'll back to this. First draft is fourteen. Taking mike evans been a pro bowl. Receiver has reset all the receiving records already. Big exclamation shows tied his own tampa bay record with his wealth reception for a touchdown this year. Tom brady just set the new fifteen two starting offensive linemen and their left tackle donovan smith and they're left guard alley pat and then really you look at the last three draft. That's defense has come. I think they have seven. Vincent starters that are from the last three drafts talent collectors. Were finding the right fifth buildings championship team. There's a veteran presence traded for jason pierre paul from the giants and hit on him and consumers thirty four and still a very high level the this is a good mix of young. It's really worth well. Even jason light was putting pieces into place. And you know sort of building the backbone of this team. This team wasn't doing particularly well and nfl. Owners of course are not known for their patients. So why did. The buccaneers stick with light. Even as this team continued to miss the playoffs year after year after year you go back to the end two thousand eighteen and then made the decision to fire dirk cutter coach dirk cutter. He is now officially relieved of his duties by the team. And in this statement. The buccaneers say that gm jason light will lead the new search. So that means light will get. I think in most situations they probably would have moved on from jason light his gm as well. He did really well in that he kind of pulled out an important card. And was there gateway to getting bruce arians. I gotta say jason's main reason. I came back in coaching and i knew how good of an evaluator was having worked with him. And we say we share the same vision workers in arizona in twenty thirteen adding when it came time for the bucks to be looking for a head coach. He kind of got them. In with bruce arians gave the bucks somebody that he knew and trusted. Having a head coach bruce. And the relationship that i have with him is it. I don't know if we'll ever be repeated. He's just such a unique guy. We have such a unique strong bond. That we we get along well. We even argue
Super Bowl LV: The Goat vs The Future
"Well a ref- last time. We talked to you wild card weekend with six playoff games over two days and you pretty much didn't have any time to eat or sleep this weekend. We only had two games both on sunday. So is your home. Look by comparison on a weekend like this much cleaner. I can say that and not only do i have time to eat. I have time to cook. I'm very excited. That's awesome well. Let's start with the early game. The bucks beat the packers. Thirty one to twenty six tampa bay went up twenty eight to ten in this game. What was the key for them building on this big lead. I think a lot of it's just the pressure they were able to produce the packers reduced to having lucas patrick and billy turner on their offensive line and it gets shaquille barrett and jason paul. There really isn't enough. I mean they're used to having a top three offensive line in the nfl. In fact both of those teams are and without that aaron rodgers is under pressure much more often that affected a lot of throws and of a lot more often than we typically see second and eight jerseys. Jason pierre paul. I think that was a big part of it. But also i mean as many times as tampa bay receivers willing to drop the ball. I mean they are better receivers than the packers have in that secondary in that easy pretty good secondary. A huge storyline throughout this game was also the bucks on third down conversions. What did you see from them. So well under pressure a lot of it is just the packers third down defense was just not very well designed and this has been a typical problem for mike patton and his defenses. And i think the that the buccaneers kind of organised out of their game plan around what they would expect to see on third down and so you ended up seeing like for a brief period of time. They had one hundred percent success rate on third down and like a ten percent success rate on first and second down it was kind of nuts. But yeah i think for the most part. They anticipated some blitzes. This saw man coverage they decided. Hey you know i. I think that chris godwin. Or mike evans can beat this guy and this guy was usually kevin king but they were able to win a variety of throughout the game especially on third down where i think things were just a little bit more predictable for them in the second half. Tom brady three interceptions on three consecutive possessions. Third down to brady throws it under pressure. The packers failed to convert the last two of those into any kind of points. How we're the bucks able to hold that lead after three turnovers. Some of it is the individual talent of the players that they've gotten a secondary thing. Carlton davis is really put a stamp on the nfl especially in the postseason. But he's going to be one of those rising players to watch next season that will be identifying and he's played very well but i think some of it is just to have an enormously fast defense and i think was the kind of got a feel for what the packers were attempted to do offensively. They just had a better understanding of what needed to be done. We're the players needed to be in how to hit those landmarks because they weren't really being ton of their defense. From a schematic perspective. They were just kinda getting to their landmarks. a lot. faster. Whether against the runner of the pass the defining play this game was packers coach. Matt leflore making the call to kick a field goal on fourth and goal from the eight yard. Line down by eight points with just over two minutes. Left and tom brady on the other side of that ball. Instead of going forward here on fourth and goal makes this a five point game again really surprised by that decision joe. I thought that they would go for it on fourth down a reef where you land on this decision by matt leflore not to go forward on fourth down. I think it was a really bad decision. And i think you know based off of what my twitter timeline is saying. That's fairly universal agreement. Interestingly wasn't as strong analytical decision to necessarily go for it on fourth down versus kick. And i think you take a look at some of the calculators that are out there and you know it was better to go for it than to kick it. But given the fact that they had three timeouts plus they were ahead of the two minute warning. There's a little bit more time than you. Typically anticipate so from an analytical perspective. It doesn't seem like as bad of a decision. But honestly i think that you take into account some of these situational factors like the fact that the packers have the best red zone offense. Nfl history as far back as her. Dagoes which i think goes all the way back to like. Thank you ninety. I think that plays a role. I think the fact that tom brady is on the other side of the ball with a bevy of weapons and a healthy offensive line. I think that plays a role. And i think kind of every additional bit of context that we add to this decision makes those analytical models a little bit more often favor of going for it instead of kicking that field goal because they needed to have those two scores. It just doesn't really make a lot of sense of the was
Brady, Buccaneers bounce back with 46-23 win over Panthers
"Tampa Bay bounce back from their embarrassing loss to the Orleans with a forty six twenty three win over Carolina Tom Brady threw for three touchdowns and ran for one it's in there we've got to do it consistently and continue to make plays and run the ball like we ran it today on the line did a great job and then keep getting the ball to our guys to make plays with it and down there a lot of guys spread around quite a bit today the bucs broken open the third quarter thanks to a ninety eight yard touchdown run from Ronald Jones a second a Jason Pierre Paul interception and a failed fake punt by the Panthers the last two leading to Ryan Succop field goals Tampa Bay ended the day with five hundred and forty three yards of total offense for the Panthers teddy Bridgewater threw for a pair and ran for one Brett McMillan Charlotte

"Thinking when number seven comes in the game, he's going to run the football. But of course, the former quarterback at BYU can throw the football to deliver their to Jared Cook to keep this drive. Going to your point is his night career completion, and it puts him in a good position here. First intend inside of 15 Camaro with a handoff tries the left side of the line. There's no hole so he just gets back to the line of scrimmage. Three bucks were there to stop him. Pretty good. Initial pressure up front, too, from Jason Pierre Paul Getting some penetration knifing across the face of the right tackle for New Orleans getting in the back. He doesn't make the tackle. But a lot of times that just spooks. The running back out of his intended hole in allows one of the other defensive players to come up and make that tackle. Keep in mind. Taysom Hill, a quarterback Jameis Winston is the backup. Of course. He spent last five years in Tampa Bay second down and 10 inside of 10 minutes here in the first quarter, first drive. The New Orleans Saints Breeze takes a shotgun snap pocket is clean the West side and it's not down an incomplete but it probably should have been intercepted by a name. You just called Jason Pierre Paul a lot of times Dupri's doesn't make that mistake. He must have gotten shielded by something. Jason Pierre Paul just drops back off a lot of scrimmage back into coverage. He must have anticipated that he was gonna be rushing and he's kind of just shadowing album Camaro, but one comes off the line of scrimmage. Pierre Paul Stumbles a little bits on thinking That's how breeze lost him. And then Pierre Paul stands up with his 6 ft five frame and nearly picks that pass off. He was frustrated. He did not pick it off. Now a third down and 10 for Drew Brees and company Camaro splits out wide to the right. Murray in the backfield. Breeze. Look to throw on screen out to the right. Instead, he goes for the end zone. Back of the end zone. Is it court? Yes. Touchdown, wide open trade Kwan Smith, So he fakes a little screen to ca Mera. Mm breeze lobster for the back of the end zone. Smith is all alone. He gets to feet in. And just like that New Orleans has the touchdown of the six. Nothing lead with 9 34 left in the opening quarter. Couple things stick out. They bring Sarah out of the backfield, and nobody expands with them. So Drew Brees knew he had zone.

"But I it's just remarkable. When you see something like that it just brings back really good memories. And I think even more remarkable as continue since the Cowboys play there it is. I mean, it's amazing thing they've been at AT and T stayed in for ten years that stadium. I mean, obviously, even there thousands time to win something in that stadium. It's it's time. I mean that's been long enough. Okay. We'll speaking of win something they have won a couple of division titles. There. Oh, yeah. But you know, the big the bigger the bigger prize the champion for, but they do have a chance to at least when other NFC title on Sunday. Your prediction Tony do? The Cowboys win the NFC east on Sunday against Tampa Bay. You know, I think they I think they will. I think there's a couple of key Samaya to this game. I think one is to eliminate all those negative place. They had last week penalties being of the execute. I mean, the miscues the drop passes. I think that's the key going in this game. And I think always always say this say you gotta start fast. You have a team as I just mentioned many times our show is that they. That have the propensity to shut down. And and you know, Tampa Bay you can have a team like this. We always say this. I mean, you give them a chance to say look it's coming along day. And I think you know, third is the the matchups offense align the Cowboys Jason Pierre Paul may still brain eleven half Sack's. But I think that this is a game where the offense in line is really really is got the mesh together and have a better show on the last game. I agree. And you know, that's going to be a key in this game and the whole deficiency. And I think I think the last two, but his seems like there's perpetuates with all these different different keys. I really think Dak they have got to be able to create some confidence going in the last game. And I mentioned the block it's it's you cannot go on in the playoff you comply with doubt. So this is a game really sets up for that RJ. And I think those keys again, they got eliminate the mistakes cannot cannot be self inflicting place especially against a team like Tampa Tampa Bay. That's wants she to give them excuse to shutdown. I agree. I said that it's going to be a long day. I'm usually don't enjoyed noon games. But I'm kind of. Glad this one's at noon. "These teams have in common is both not good in the red zone. Calvo's at thirty first and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, thirty seconds. So either team scores once I get down the red zone. You know, and here's a great example. And you mentioned Jerrell McCoy Jason Pierre Paul they have, you know, some guys are pretty active on a defensive line. So just possess. You know, presented sell some some good matches. But you know, it's a gain that this part of the season where you got opportunity to punch your ticket and get to play in a postseason play. It's it's all about state of mind. And I think for them it's got to be a state of mind in red zone, especially you have a team like Tampa Bay that struggles. Worsened Cowboys to be able to score and original. It is presents itself. A lot of opportunities. I think that's what they have to really sense. And sometimes or j just comes down to this this urgency to really, you know, bailable to develop an attitude to get down on red zone and develop opportunities we offense and the Cowboys hadn't done that this year. What do you think about how this? I mean, how does it feel in the locker room? I guess is is overall question. I mean because you know, and the Cowboys have kind of dealt with that this season early on after the Jaguars Tyron proffer, very infamously said stop talking, you know, what about our offense. I mean, they hear the noise. And so they're here all week that they suck in the reds on their terrible. They can't square got shut out in Indianapolis. They're embarrassing, blah, blah. I mean, so at what point does it? You know, does it become this sort of man, we just gotta we gotta do this. I mean, we just gotta get this monkey off our kind of. Thing. I mean is that do you think that's going on in a good way? Maybe. But I mean, I have to believe that they are certainly aware of how bad they are when they get to the most important part of the I think it's very hard people think that in no player, you say, well, we're into that. We don't hear you do here. And it's to cystic that every week in week. You gotta be good in the red zone. So you start filling that and it just kinda start to seep in a little bit. And I think it's a defense. It's just as worse as more worse than because you know that once they get into the red zone. They you know, they brought the ball all the way down the field. And then it's like, okay. We'll so most like the way for holding away flat and white flag up and I think offense of -ly again. I think this comes down to the state of mind. Look we need to execute. We need to be more concise quarterbacks got to be really efficient. I think that's really good. When you think about throwing the football. All in a red zone. I think it's we talk about reference all the time too tight windows for the quarterback at those those are even tire. That's when you really have to be really concise in the fishing. And I think when you get it down like last week. It's a great example gets a coast. We talked about it last this week on our podcast that when a blow on the defensive line is blowing you up when you have four one hundred making negative yards de become to state of mind. And I know we gotta go back and look the matchups. They're missing players. You know, Zach Martens gonna be out again this week. So, but that's what defenses. That's what they thrive on. They try to find a match up, and for some reason either execution their stolen football yet to be a lot more efficient, and you definitely got to be more concise. Well, we'll see you know, what the deal is Zack Martin and executives who feels deal with that. I swelling. That was really weird obviously know Travis Frederick and tyrant plan while I mean for his stance..

"And I also think the off season. In market set. Prices look at what happened with Jason Pierre Paul and Robert Quinn and Michael Bennett in the off season all for like four or fifth. You know with a Damon Harrison that kind of sets it up. That's what you trade for. And you know, I just think we're in an age where GM's or boulder and thankfully for the eagles success. We're seeing happen trades are now part of the NFL which they weren't really before. It also seems to me just looking at it Andrew that compensatory picks are a big factor in all of these moves like the eagles. They get gold. They have a third round pick for golden Tate. They only have them for eight games until he hits the free markets. He'd look at that and think wow. But third round pick for only games. But I think the eagles look at it like, yeah. But then he's getting money from somebody. And we're not gonna probably that active in free agency this off season. So we'll end up getting a third or fourth round compensatory pick in twenty twenty. So really we're renting golden Tate for eight games in the playoffs. And maybe getting the same pick back just a year later. Yeah. Group that to some extent I also think that in this happened with how Clinton Dix with the Redskins 'cause they're talking about a rental there. But I think teams coaches, especially all think this way whether it's true or not we'll get him in our program. He'll love it. He'll resign. I just think everyone thinks that. And I always say this, you got leverage on the day, the trade if they want to get a deal done with Tate or with Clinton Dix, and it seems like both those players are excited about where they're going do it then, but that's doesn't seem to be happening. And maybe I'm too bold and saying that should happen upon the trade because then you have the leverage now Tate has the leverage on the eagles and Dick's has the leverage on the Redskins. But we'll see competitor is definitely part of it as well. Because they go in thinking. Okay. We'll lose them. But we get something back. But I just think that we're in an age where there there is some stretch run contending thoughts in there. We're kind of baseball ish. The eagles are focused on this year and the week division. Same with the Redskins obviously same with the lions would seem to sort of be going the other way on offense. They look at golladay is as a star. And you see teams making moves about guys that they don't think they can resign on the other side of it Packers don't think they can re-sign Clinton Dix. They get what they can those kind of things couple things that are interesting to me there. You know, the lions to more or less be be buyers week ago to get Damon snacks Harrison from the giants and then sellers this week is interesting because usually a team is out of looking new acqu. Choir for the short term or looking at to know move guy. So I thought that's not to me Andrew they're also speaking of that I want to get your thoughts on the Green Bay Packers. Because you know, the time Montgomery thing, I think is a little bit different. But ha Clinton Dix. You can't argue with me that the Packers are better today than they were yesterday. Maybe they got good value. And maybe it's the smart move to do for your organization over the next few years. But yet again, Andrew you've got I think the most gifted quarterback of all time, and you're giving him less of a chance. I mean, they're not as good today as they were yesterday when they had Montgomery in specially Clinton Dix and man you were there for a while. I guess the question is balancing the present and the future, especially when you have a guy like Aaron Rodgers who's in his prime. And who knows maybe at the tail end of his. Time. Yeah. That's always the question. And listen, I lived it in the exact same way you're talking about with farve. And when I was with farve, we were kind of in the area of of his career that Aaron's in his career and same issues always came up. I just think you are what you are. The Packers are a team that builds a pipeline of young players and brings them up, especially when they see free agency approaching for player that maybe they haven't prioritized..

"Allied manning's got about two more years at the most i think left in him to be the quarterback of the giants you do need wide receivers you just cut brandon marshall okay running back has always been a need and also offensive line right taking bradley chubb will be more so like luxury type pick although they dig your jason pierre paul too so i guess you could say that is anita itself so bears take brown sake baker mayfield number one who the giants take saquon barkley with the number two pick okay i like the pic you couldn't went darnold you coulda went job but they went barclay this is a definite win now move okay like i said the giants really haven't had a running back probably since ahmad bradshaw was there and they pretty much insurgent sense given the guy like saquon barkley is the perfect move for galaxy light matic okay everyone's been talking about the fact that barkley is a top running by pasta probably the best in quite some time people are saying is a better prospect than zeke y'all it and all that but nonetheless i mean you throw garlic barkley out there now ally has opportunities the hand the ball off rather than throw the ball about fifty times a game and plus you got old beckham junior to now defense is current and do what they do with pittsburgh you can't double the wide receiver because you got the best running back there you can't talk about stack the box because you got a great receiver out there all right so with barclay comes out and he's performed from day by day one giant should be a very good team okay then in round two instead of going defense or anything like that they sharp off the offensive line.

"Agency instead now it's gonna eat a cap hit i'm gonna get something for this guy so not only did they flip those picks but he also gets a third rounder which again i think could be very valuable and it's inside the top seventy in the draft so i you know looks like everybody wins here and jp still gets the cash that's come into this year i like the way these teams are operating now it's not let's do you know oh i don't want the player let's just throw them out with the trash now it's okay this is an asset that we can trade and the player still gets the money that at least for now is owed to him in his contract i also there's your pulse one of those classic aces of guy who needs a change of scenery he not that he was not that he was hitting on that giants defense but when the giants won the super bowl with jason pierre paul one of the anchors of the defense they had guys who could be brought in to spell him so we talked about it in one of our previous episodes they had canty they had just talk they had jason pierre paul they had other guys who could come in and take over so he wasn't burning himself out and now you see when he's the guy who's supposed to be the anchor of the defense now granted they went out and they spent a lot of money on that defense but we all know what happened with his hand on the fourth of july and you know that probably was a major major obstacle to overcome because of all the rehab he had to do and let's face it he played well but he's never going to be that same guy that you saw as a rookie blocking dallas cowboy field goal attempts to win games making big plays in the playoffs and the super bowl so he gets to go down to florida and south florida where i think he's going to be closer to his son so that's probably something that comes off of his mind and says okay i'm going to be able to be around my family more and he was just one of.

"All right let's jump into the news lou and this is going to dovetail right and lieu news item number one all right so gresh brought it up the giants they traded defensive end jason pierre paul to the buccaneers for a third round pick with teams also swapping fourth round picks yeah lou mentioned the the first draft that that jerry reese had new york and how it kind of set things up for them for you know that first year and then beyond aaron ross is the first round pick right yep kevin vases in that group of mom racha was in that group draft class guys who contributed right away man jerry reese is like like he fell off a cliff after a couple years there and this is another example of it they paid jason pierre paul twenty two million dollars for one year and trade the rest of his contract which is pretty affordable now because what's left is really thirteen million per over three years which isn't a bad rate for a pass rusher this to me is is sort of this dave gettleman clear the decks and not about saving money so much now as it is saving money over the next couple of years where they might have to pay some of the young guys on the roster look i get the whole tampa has been looking for a pass rusher you know i get that end of it i understand it i think the currency that was paid was probably a little light but they eat the money now they take the cap hit it frees up money next year allow it's a great move by gilman from a cap standpoint in terms of yeah they're going to carry a lot of dead money but it's going to open up a ton of space next season and i think that third round is going to be valuable and what's interesting about this bird is that we're now seeing a trend in the nfl how many times how many moves have been made this year where people were just flipping positions in the draft for a player it's almost like we've come up with now or gm's of come up with a new formula in terms of moving players whereas maybe five six seven eight years ago jp just would've got cut and put into free.
