"And for me this This movie more than anything is going to be a celebration of Star Trek and I encourage everyone to go out and participate in it as well. Cool well I know that William Shatner is GonNa be at comic con doing a Star Trek panel so I certainly hope. You guys connected. He shows up on your red carpet would be just about awesome to see the two kirks together. I think that would be great. That'd be cool I I. I have a dream that you know. Maybe he might recognize me and say. Hey you might have been able to Punch Chris. Pine but you'd never be able to punch this Kirk. I gotta I gotTa ask you the casting. What was that like for the first film for you? It was very unexpected. I didn't even really know what I was auditioning for. My agent kind of hinted that it was star Trek but it was a black ops Casting sort of process I didn't script until I went in all the characters. Names have been changed. I think mine was like farm. Boy You know number winder something and and You know they had all these different names in once I got cast fam- out you know what it actually was and I remember telling my my mother. She was huge star trek film Fan and I said A Mom I'm doing star Trek and she was like now she. She freaked out. There's not there's no better experience than to freak out your mom maker so happy and my uncle to is. He's a huge Star Trek Fan. He Has. He has a model enterprise in his Kitchen sits on his table. A real model enterprise out there. I got a few of these is his is like the big one you know. They're like giant one. Yeah I built one of those. When I was a kid he loved those. Yeah I think I think he built his two is like a modeling type of thing but You know it's it's I don't I don't even remember what we're what the question was. But you know as far as the casting process right so so yeah I mean I. I auditioned on on tape. They send it off to. Jj came back a week later and said you got the part and then we started work it was and I would never in a million years thought that I would be able to do. Three fell three films. You now three star trek films as a redshirt. I think that's gotta be some kind of a record. I mean I don't know if Guinness Burke would officiated or something but I it's gotta be some kind of a record. Do don't die. Don't die man. Those redshirts man. I gotta ask you about six savior. When is that coming out? And what are you playing that? Actually six gun saviors. It's It's kind of a B. movie but it came out Some friends of mine who produced in acted in the film as well. I met them at a at. What was it the Sunscreen Film Festival and Florida Tampa Florida and she? She had asked me to do a part in her film. And it's it really is a cool film. It's it's when you watch it you can get it on Amazon Right now and it never really went to theaters is. It was never supposed to be that really. I think it played in theaters though. Now I think about it for a little bit but it was It was more a labor of love for everybody who is involved in it and they're all hardcore sci-fi fantasy fans and Frank Zeta who's one of the producers on? It is a good friend of mine as well. He is a huge. He's huge in the sci-fi and has actually Written books and he just created a game is his his guy. That's been to all the conventions and he kept telling me you. GotTa do a convention. You GotTa do a convention and So finally I was like wow okay. I'll give it a shot then But that's how I got involved with six gun savior. It's kind of about It's a supernatural western. Where this team? This kind of collage of people get together in the old west and they are fighting zombies and demons and It's a cool fill USA. You should check it out. Yeah it's got a cool factor to it. I love it. Sounds Great. Sounds Fun Sound? Well lastly your midwest kind of guy I mean. That's what you grew up in everything. Indiana and I mean it really in the Star of the millennium you just moved out to La. I mean that takes a lot of guts as far as I'm concerned. Well you know as an actor. I am from the Midwest. I grew up in Indiana Ohio and Michigan. I spent the most time in Ohio in Cincinnati about twelve years from twelve to twenty four. My real formative years but as an actor. I did my first film. If you've seen my. Imdb credits was a movie called airborne. And that starts. Seth Green Jack Black and a couple of other people who have kind of gone away after you know the through the years but It was for me. I was just a a kid in school at the time they the casting director came in and I don't know how I ended up getting a part in it and I was only supposed to work one day. They ended up taking away. My Line and had me worked for a month and a half you know had at scales. Those it was really. It was an unbelievably cool experience. But then I went to school and trained Got My BFA enacting got my MFA in acting and then and then there's two choices at that point once you graduate you can either go to New York or you can go to La on and for me you know if all things are equal. I'd rather be where the weather's a little better you know and and La really is more of a film and TV kind of town and you know the New York New York. Has the you know plays and musicals and they have. Tv shows movies as well. But it's it's just not as much as much opportunity as there is in In La in my opinion my humble opinion. Well I really WanNa thank you for taking the time and talking to us here. I mean I wish you. The Best of luck with Star Trek beyond as a longtime fan of Ozzy rooting for the film and Anything Star Trek and now Zee TV series. Coming up with an all star behind the scenes group so. I'd love Jason or Jj to direct and episode. I think that'd be cool. I'd love to be a part of that series so if anybody's watching it I want to be in on that. Yeah well well. You were in You were in Star Trek Renegades Tim Rice. Yeah that's awesome. I did yet again. I did a doubt again was A favor that I did for Francs Anka who was the unit Producer of renegades. Yeah that was very cool. And that was a fan film actually and You know the the studios just came down pretty hard on the Fan Jones out. I wasn't a part of the next renegades. That's coming out but they I've been told that they've had to remove all the Star Trek Logos In Post the what a horrific job that's going to be the try to remove all the insignias all the references. And you know it's crazy but yeah. That was fun. I I you know I. I'm definitely going to encourage all of your viewers and listeners. To Go see beyond I'm going to put a guarantee that it's going to be the best film of the summer all right well strong recommendation. That certainly gets my vote or or your money back. But but don't come to me for the payback go to go to Burma. Yeah there you go. Thank you so much Jason. I hope we talk again. It's it's great to see and I didn't say the seaward during the interview at all. What's The seaward cupcake? Don't worry about it. Everybody does all right all right buddy great to talk to You. "On ESPN radio and on the ESPN app. Brown and Brad Edwards from the cell tie. Hawaii bowl Aloha stadium and on a Lulu a lovely setting pro football game the whole town rainbow. Warriors are in front seven three what a twenty four yard touchdown pass from shepherd Cordeiro to Jason Matthew shark. And that was a that was a piece of work that throw. I mean, it was a first of all from the quarterback standpoint Cordeiro made his drop. And then as soon as he hit that last step. He let that ball go. Timing was perfect. And as we said he hit charge right in stride, who's able to run about if teen more yards after the catch to get into the end zone. Hawaii has struggled in this area. This year they ranked one hundred fourth in the nation in yards after catch her reception that typically these run-and-shoot offenses have a bunch of smaller wick receivers you get the ball to in space, and they usually get a lot of yards after the catch. So very surprising to see that number with Hawaii coming into this game. Of a did a great job there with the yards after catch by Invesco kicks provide up to the car sideline and out of bounds on the flock. Just about the last thing. Nick rule. The rich wanted to see after a touchdown. I'd say Hawaii insist on continuing to give Louisiana tech great field position. Like, even when they're in situations where they got a chance to regain the upperhand. There is get it. Right back thirty five. I. Apparently tonight. Aloha means here. Take it at the thirty five. We're still really early here. I mean, not even midway through the second quarter. But I think it's worth pointing out. Louisiana tech is not an offense that scores a ton of points. And I think it's important for them to keep momentum's. Those remember their last drive it ended because of a turnover a fumble after a reception. So why didn't exactly get a stop in conventional form? It takes playing well offense. They need to get the ball in the end zone to your points for one a country at twenty four point two points per game. Damar Smith takes the shot. Gust apple pressure roles. Right. Throws right at the passes reeled in its teddy veal right near midfield. It's been big night. For veal already has the cats to sit up Louisiana tech. I doubt about fifteen. Yeah. Big night for veal and very nice thrown ball by by Smith. There. You mentioned he rolled his right. It's not easy throw. The make no hitting the guy near the sideline while you're on the run, but he did. So and Louisiana tech moving those chains again Smithers twelve of seventeen and a game. One hundred sixteen yards out gaining Hawaii wanted fifty four to ninety seven. Receivers left one of the right? The back has Tucker ahead of him. Do Alfred Smith running for the right to the fifty forty five forty cuts it appeal to the thirty five and knocked out near the sideline. The thirty three yard line the head off to Tucker running right till I flipped it to the wide receiver. Smith who ran for about seventeen jamar Smith a quarterback was inquisition to deliver a lead blocked quarterbacks. Usually don't like to get in there and get really physical and he didn't. But he did set a nice screen. He just stood in the way just enough to prevent the defender from getting to his man. No, moving screens and football. That's that's right. If your quarterback is elite blocker. Vologda Hawaii thirty four at a snap and a hand off not grows to try to cut it back right at putting into a sea of green yard. Is familiar territory for the tech once again running plays in Hawaii territory, they've had a lot of them. But so far just three points to show for it. We will be well served to get touched down here. But I think at the very least Anita come away with a field goal rather winning the field position battle. They're winning in first downs and yards per play. And yet Hawaii has the lead with a crucial turnover Rainbow Warrior drive leading to a testing six thirty five to go in the first half, seventy three to store BULLDOGS of the all white writes a left to right snap of the play fake pass his skirts. By kendall. Knocked it out of the air have been picked it just before the turn up. Athletic. Yeah. They're going to review this to see whether it actually isn't interception. It looked like it was. And if it stands two turnovers now back to back possessions here for the why defense they had come in. Like, I said only three turnovers in their previous eight games that included. Just one interception. Their previous eight games only four for the year. So what a start Hawaii defensible as if it saying all year you throw the numbers out the window. So. Edwards seventy three midway through the second. Hawaii with the lead in the ball..

"And then when i realised could because i you know what i'd done was very early on in the movie there is a shot of whale going into his pantry and you see these three generators running in the pantry and what i realize as a as a filmmaker assuming the people know what a generator us right the thing to do and when you need to sell that point in the story is that he goes into his pantry and you see him kickstarted generator and then behind him as it starts the lights on his house come up right we should have soldo the that's the thing that is giving his house power and it's a big learning lesson for me and it's really tricky because you can't really assume that an audience knows anything it must be even more true with spy craft which is so complex yes so if you're talking to jason matthews before you're making the film or wire making the film as he saying don't do that that's not right or does he understand that there is a sort of movie magic quality got a canister so we went back and forth a little bit he understood i mean he knows i mean i'm sure he would say in a second at that's not the most i thank tech um you know joel's character also carries a gun and not sequence and that's not all that if and to keep her um but other than that there's not a lot in the movie that stop far off which is something that i'm really happy about in terms of in terms of the the spycraft or tradecraft you said that this studio actually put the book in your hands right yes a movie like this getting greenland is fascinating to me because even though there is a big movie star part it is not part of an expanded universe it's still a big film um and it's very has very mature themes once you'd started diving into it was it easy to sell them even though they put it into your hands it.
