"Cools about a 100 ft² of that attic. And if you had a continuous ridge vent that would actually cool. And pull out the entire. You had to go there, didn't you Lisa? Look, I've got silver all those things out there. And I'm only coming across one problem with the brain that I use, and that is the bearings going out in the motor and they'll make a knocking noise. So as it turns, the last about 5 years in your roof last about 20. It's got a lifetime warranty. A lifetime of the very first time, something happens to the roof then. It's going going bye bye. But the power of it, I like the solar ones. They're more expensive, yes, but they have most of them have a lifetime guarantee on them. But you have to install them correctly because Jeff made a very valid point during his dietary. Yeah. And if you don't have the solar panel pointed, the way that the direction show you to according to the sun, you got to look at what side of the equator and you get a little bit directions. But that does make it very huge difference because it will not spin as fast as designed to you if it doesn't have the right amount. Oh wow. The sun's interesting. Okay. Good job, Jeff, pointing that out. No problem. Lisa, does that help at all? Yes, you certainly did. Thank you. Thank you. If not just suggest you get on top of your roof with a skill saw. Never do that. Make sure you cut it back forward, 'cause a lot of times I don't get cut back for it. Anyway, and that is very true. In order to allow them to bend to be quite honest here, we both have valid points. Timmy, you know, he's got his idea. And then, I mean, we can take this a step further. Doug rye thinks that you should insulate your entire envelope. Adding everything should be enslaved. I don't believe that. So, and that's the good thing about other opinions. But whatever system you go with has to be installed properly. Correct. Yeah, get a pro for that. That's a big deal. "Three of the World Series is tonight in Atlanta one game apiece But as you watch those 98 mph fastballs I think for a second how it feels to take one in the face Scherzer looks like his day is done That really got yasmani He called out the trainer right away That's Chicago White Sox catcher yasmani grandal He talked to us today about how that feels The mask broke all the way through and it actually punched my chin There was countless times where you know my jaw will lock up How'd you go on liquid diets for about a week or two Grandal is now an investor in a new shock absorbing mask It's called force three and braves catcher Travis star no will be wearing one tonight Force threes Jason Klein is the man behind the mask as it were and he joins us now Jason welcome Thank you so much Scott Now you used to be a minor league umpire and tell me a story How badly hurt were you using an old school mask Did I knock you out actually It close to it I'd stop me I had no idea if my teeth were still in my head And I didn't know if I was bleeding I had to ask the catcher in front of me what I look like Wow And so that I guess at you in this journey to build a better mousetrap here I mean how did you start to even look around for ideas Well it's something that no one really tackled because the problem didn't occur in the outside world It only catches an umpires of this problem So I just had to think of what I could do to make this better Yeah and so this new mask which many catchers in the playoffs have been using has this spring loaded shock absorption technology Tell us a little bit about how it works Sure it's actually it looks traditional but there's nothing traditional about it as a two piece system a top mask and a bottom mask separated by spring assemblies So the top mast never touches the bottom mask at all So when the impact happens a lot of the energy goes to the top mask and then most of it is absorbed through the springs and then any residual energy gets taken care of with our pads And this has been a few years now What do we know Is there data on how well this is working Well the only data that I have is from the teams that use it there are a couple of teams that make it mandatory We only have one player that's under contract in the big leagues and that's the osmani grandal Everyone else wears it outside of their contract outside their endorsement deal So we haven't had one reported concussion of all the impacts that have happened Now what about umpires Do we know how much take up we've seen there There have been several umpires One thing we won't do as a company we won't violate endorsement deals So we know there's an endorsement deal in place for the entire union We're not going to approach umpires as to ask them to wear it Same thing with the players they have to get it on their own What is the relationship between umpires and catchers on one hand they can talk about this mask and how a shock absorbing it is On the other hand they tend not to get along on the diamond right I mean there's arguing about that was a stripe No it wasn't No had I known that my mask would have carried over into the player world as well as it did I may not have done it Some of those guys I would never want to protect but I'm really glad I did I enjoyed every minute of it And I actually enjoy working with the players a lot as well And finally how are you going to watch the game tonight Do you pay particular attention to that horrible foul ball that kind of wax a ump or a catcher in the face Well I always wish them luck and I always hope that they don't get hit But if they do they can certainly buy one of.

When you look at this different equipment you have not only. Do you have catcher's mask but you have a full full set of equipment for catchers for umpires really. There's some innovation that's gone into this. What has been the the secret formula behind. These product. Extensions like this if we don't if we cannot make a better we're not gonna make it so we improve all your government when you pick up a force product we want you. To know is the best you can possibly get. We can't do any more at the time. We built it to get it better. So we've the same. Kevlar the same. A foams that we use That protect in the in the face. We went to end concussions in sports and other sports related injuries and extend the careers of players and officials And and when we can't do it for sports if you don't do sports we do it anywhere that we can take our technology in every walk of life. We wanna put it there so that improves your life and speaking of other sports he kind of started with emphasis on baseball emphasis on softball. Any other sports that are on the horizon. "I find your comment about the mass really interesting that it looks similar to existing mass but really there's nothing similar about it. It's so unique. And when you look at the details. it is pretty mindblowing. All the different aspects of it which elements of the design or the engineering makes the most impact on reducing impact. That sounds funny. Well it's actually a whole system. It's a question if you change the mask to change the metal. That's one thing but if you change the padding that's another changing one and not the other. It's not that great but when you change everything at work as a system. That's why we're we're we're also so successful because we had to come up with pass that will give the top mask the right amount of support so that would move upon impact and not just move upon a modern packed. One that seventy eighty ninety miles an hour. Suzanne that hits that mask it springs move. Because if you don't you're just wearing another mask one of the craziest things to wrap my head around again pun intended but is the testing with this. Like how much testing do you have to do. On a regular basis to to make this up to standards and also make pro players and empires feel good about wearing this and trying it out. Well the field in and try and get out thing that happens as soon as they hit the first time and whenever they not at the spring training all the teams asked to come in and talk to their catchers. I do it because the team asked me do. I'm not there for the individual catcher. But if i get a catcher. That's in there that takes like find great and i'll even say this and they're horrified by this but my please i've seen in a baseball game life. I'll stick around today. But you know i hope you wear it guild. And they're just absolutely horrified. That said that. But it's the truth. Because i know what this will do like the the devil's advocate of baseball masochist entrepreneur there. It's not that. I know what our product does and i'm happy it is doing. There's no doubt. I know that careers were extended I know that careers were saved. I know that the quality of life is is going to be better after baseball. That's one thing that david rawson pleaded with me. He'd really loved the idea. He pleaded with me to keep going with it. Because you know he he's quote to me was a. I don't wanna drink my dinner out of straw. When i'm forty five and it has always stuck with me He's He he did great things for for by his feedback And he's talked about it before on When he was doing some games for espn but without that meeting you know we would have been a totally different company and a lot of atlanta catchers out. There would be hurt. I mean you've got you've got catcher. You've got catches a missile year for concussions. Come back where where my mask not have one problem Become world champions You know you got other catches that have signed multiple deals past you know..

"They are all by brands and You know it's incredibly hard to get anyone to wear something that you're gonna tell them you're gonna protect arguably the most important part of their body with a low that they've never seen in a design they never seen and say. Hey trust me. I want to keep you safe and these are athletes. So it's incredibly hard but you know we found the right one and You know the rest is history. And it's amazing the growth you've had in the league. That is a huge sell to get pro players to use a brand that they probably have never even heard of before heaven. Were your biggest selling point sir. The selling point. I had i had to get on one athlete first. And then it had. He had to get hit and yediot multiple times than that he had to talk to other catchers. Because not only did we not give any mass away. But they'll bought bottom so either players bottom the agents bottom teams bottom weeden. I did not give away one mass for free so you're in the unique area of wanting to protect players but also needing some players to get hit kind just as proof early on as well the interesting a very interesting place to be and down in front of a agents who want three mass for their players so they can try it out and then my answer has been the same no and they're talking to me because their players has been hurt before You know when. I first started out. I've known talked me And then low level agents are entry level agents with talk to me And then we start getting into some agencies with with major league players so you know and now it's the now now. We can build the hall the phone and call. You know we're gonna get to talk to someone so it's a really a unique experience going through that whole process. I'm actually wearing the defender mask right. Now it's great for podcasting as well so you can stamp that certification on there. But let's talk about that maso kind of your prized jewel crown jewel. I don't think prize jobs even a thing. Now as is the defender mask which i know you have kinda than traditional catchers umpires mask format as well as the hockey format. It's got some really really cool features that help to absorb the shock and is literally designed to be able to take and reduce the impact of hundred mph fastballs which is like if you've ever seen a video up. Close of one hundred mile per hour fastball. It's kind of tricky. Because you can't even really see the ball. It's that quick so what was involved in coming up with his right design. That looks good feels good but most importantly is protective It's a it was a long process. In fact i mean designed it. Because i'm an unpire so designed it you know with my umpire knowledge in mind so the original had four sets the spring assemblies. And i was able to get this in front of david. Ross with the winners of playing with the red sox in two thousand fourteen And he had a problem with the spring something on the side He said it kinda got in his way and me being empire. I'm saying no you're wrong. It didn't it can't it can't possibly michael dramatic Happens to be the athletic trainer at the red sox. He pulled me aside and said hey he's getting good information either. Take it or or get out of here..

"Still in the game after that and probably still recovering chin facing and everything that whole time. How much time when you were still humping did this idea keep swirling in your head of man. There's gotta be a better way to to create a mask that prevent stuff like this. It was constant When i i wasn't focused on on barring my mind would would shift tours. What what can i do. How can we improve. This and a lot of ideas went to my head. A lot of you know they. A lot of ideas are scribbled down on paper. This was very much a back of the napkin. Type idea that was scratched out and refined in in time I never Never wants i say that. I wasn't gonna do it after i said i was because this was something that had to be fixed not for just umpires but you know players as well. Obviously i created a process from pires not really looking at the player world. said it. I'll say it again and again you know if i am not that smart because i had i really thought about it and figure that it would carry over to the catcher world A lot of those catches. And i had a you know i may not even wanted wanted to protect but You know i'm glad i did. It's been the best the best thing ever and i've enjoyed working with the players. A lot more was going to say those who are who are listening. Who maybe weren't on your good cider. Might just start throwing baseballs at you these days. Anyway there's one catcher that i had actually i saw him After i came out the mask and he was still he actually was in the big leagues nights. And hey you know. Some things haven't changed between us and he goes. What do you mean. go. When i am fired and you caught. I used to wish you got nailed. And and and got taken out. I you should be consulting with your medical professional. Okay let's get into this and by the way. Make sure you listen to episodes one two three as the services that foundation for you feeling consistent long-term back pain relief so gaining into these nine useful tips to manage low back pain at home number one is the most simple may be one of the cop tools that I Heavy used over the past several years. And actually it's not just for back pain relief. But it's also for you mean rejuvenating in the middle of the day and getting back and going. Strong in being consistent is laying down on a comfortable surface while propping up your knees and feet on an elevated surface above head level so five twenty five minutes a day of that so an example is me going in on my living room floor from the carpet and then propping my feet up on the couch with my knees bent What I like to do is actually Get Nice and close to the couch and put my knees action my knees and my feet onto the couch and you know if I'm working hard I'm getting up early and I'm really working hard just a couple of minutes and I'm I'm out like out like a light bulb and five twenty five minutes a day anything longer than that and I get groggy because you start entering what's called deep ram and Ram Cycles of sleep and then you just up even more tired than you did if you did five to twenty five minutes. Number two is hydrate with clean. Filtered Water Osmosis and you can get into the certain types of water filtration but ultimately make sure you know or have a very close idea of how much you are hydrating on a daily basis because if you just lose track and you know you're working hard again you're busy and all of a sudden like you have no idea how much you drank drank. You know three hundred milliliters of water and it's already you know five. Pm and you haven't hardly hydrated. What I like to do is wake up and drink one liter of water. And you know there's some days where I just feel maybe upset stomach or I just don't feel like drinking not much water right away. That's okay I'm going to be at home for a couple of hours before I leave home. You know if I leave home. I'll take water. I'll drink five hundred milliliters. It'll take five hundred with me so I mean it's just a matter of adaptation so number two hydrate number three is daily exposure to sunlight as early in the day as possible on this. The quantity varies you know and will probably always be upper discussion between you know your doctor and dermatologists and depending on who you talk to You know it really varies by person. But we can all agree. That sunlight is extremely important for your health on in many different on many different levels. So number four is rice Soko race sock or water pouch and this is one thing. I did In one of the only consistent forms of relief even though I knew it was temporary relief I was one of the consistent forms probably only thing only tool that actually helped me consistently was a hot right soccer water pouch and what I would do is like I said in the living room. I'll heat that baby up whether it was in hot water or microwave and I would actually lay on top of the rice sock. Some people can't do this because of the the tolerance of of heat but I like to lay on top of it and I'll actually combine that with five twenty five minutes of laying down with my feet propped up on the couch. Some actually hitting two of these at once so it killing two birds with one stone and Just experiment with the time of the Right Song. Like do at least ten minutes Go Up to twenty five or twenty minutes on that as well. Number FIVE IS DRINK. Era Sorry is consumed dark. Greens and Roots veggies like spinach carrots and beets on a daily basis Everyone knows that are excellent sources of vitamins and but a lot of people don't realize that they also have fighter nutrients which they hope you insist. Your Body Might Akon Real Health so cellular level here the ability for your body to process and convert sunlight absorb into the skin to Vitamin D. So thinking about it that way Your your dark. Greens and Roots veggies are so important. Even if you're taking a vitamin super important to get those Vitamins from the earth Number six tumor work and you can tie that in with them for five. Tumor is something. Super Hot in the market won't go into too much detail the so much information out on to mark But it provides a lot can provide a lot of Benefits a ton. It's a long laundry list. I tried to take to Merck every day and number seven fish. Oil kind of like tumor fish oils has been proven in the so much Evolving Research and improve that visuals. Incredible number eight magnesium and so this is really me. Magnesium has changed my life It's really provided me a lot of assistance. I have A long history of depression and neurological issues in so we all know by now. We should know that pain. In general and chronic pain specifically chronic pain back pain. Let's say wink. Wink is related. The neurology your brain in your back. Pain are so super linked together interconnected into to try to look back. Pain is an isolated problem in a vacuum is wrong. You need to view approach. Your back pain is interconnected issue with Lyndon like it might be indirectly related to. I don't know your gut your acid reflex. It might be intern indirectly connected but it is because everything is interconnected so if you can really optimize brain health and my vitamins and and that sort of thing. It's going to have an indirect benefit on everything else including back pain. I'm not saying it's fix it because again. We go back to the roots root cause which muscle imbalances muscle weakness. But if you can do other things that benefit your body to relax bring down those stress hormones etc then you're going to really have a manifesto so magnesium I take magnesium three and eight and maller late on a daily basis. But you're GONNA have to really look into that on yourself. So number. Nine is joint mobility joint hygiene body hygiene back hygiene and just wanted to three minutes a day. You can change your life and I did too and we can all agree that humans need to move. We all agree on that so there are so many more items. I could add to this list. You're obviously right but these are just a few that can I? I would consider like my if I could if I could only use you. Know the just a shortlist. This would be so my conclusion to this episode. Is You know if you implement.
