"Do you think travis might celebrate if you wins the super bowl this week and gets the extra one on top of his older brother. I'm sure that there's nothing. That travis wants more than to get this wine so that he can lovingly and playfully. Rub it in but at the same time. I'm sure that there would be nothing. That would give jason more pleasure than to see his little brother when another one. The legendary lisa saulters. Thank you for joining us on. Espn daily thanks for having me.

"A lisa. It is great to have you on the show. Thank you for joining me. Great to be here. Lisa saulters is a reporter for e sixty and monday night football. I am bringing you today to talk about somebody that you know. Well someone who's almost been weirdly going under the radar in this run up to super bowl fifty five despite being a six time pro bowler and the best tight end in the league for years now and gaining over fourteen hundred yards receiving this season. The most tight end has ever had an nfl history. All which makes them illegitimate candidate for offensive player of the year. The season for the joseph wide open talks to city mahomes chelsea again. At least a you profile travis kelsey for east sixty a couple of years ago focusing on his evolution his relationship with his older brother and fellow pro bowler jason kelsey center for the eagles so to just start off here. How would you describe travis's personality. Oh they those two brothers as thick as thieves first of all. They're best friends but they could not be any more different in terms of personality. Jason is older brother. And i guess he kind of acts like the older brother he's more reserved whereas travis is all over the place. He's just full of personality. Colorful in the end zone is just like i'd turn into just happy. Go lucky kid. There's another little dance kelsey. That life is so surreal. That i'm in the end zone and the nfl. I'm just go ahead and dances off. So as of this moment lisa travis kelsey is off preparing to play in his second super bowl weekend winning it last year and older brother jason. He wanted title with the eagles three years ago and is now kind of on the tail end of his career. But i want to go back with you to their early years together or they like his kids would they grew up. Outside of cleveland in an area called. Cleveland heights Just looking at the old videos of travis being the ham in front of the camera. Trump will smile you. Jason was constantly pestering his big brother. Just getting on his nerves. Travel was always trying to get me into trouble here. Like pestering mate man. I was a menace. I kinda thrived off of getting just enough trouble to where i could turn my way out of it. Air parents both say that everything was a competition with those two. Whether it was could get to the dinner table i who was better in this sport who was better in that sport that they were constantly competing in a loving way and a loving little brother. Big brother lay either. I was going to his baseball game. He was going to live football game. We're always doing something. Travis told me that he started playing football because jason played it. I only played football because he was playing football. All new is that he was going to work hard and give it his best and sure enough. I was sitting there taking notes watching the entire time so by jason's senior year in high school. He is the star running back. He's a linebacker. And travis who basically decided to play football because jason was flag football. He is the starting quarterback and they are extremely excited to finally officially be playing together. What.

"A better defense you talk about having a better running game that's going to support to shorten the clock shorten into field and keeping Petronas sideline. You're talking about a guy who was comparable in his play calling abilities to Andy Reid and he has that. Wildcard Jimmy G. has not been unreleased. Eight throws in success to a blowout win in NFC championship ship ship. Game means when he gets his opportunity if necessary case of emergency break. Glass and Jimmy G. comes out and shows you. He's more than a game manager. I stationary. I'm going with Andy Reid. I don't even think it's That close of a race. You get one coach. The head coach for three years of College Shanahan. Another coach has the head coach for twenty one years in anti reassess. Well has he won a super bowl. Know what he's been very successful and what we talked about earlier he has a new face at NFL. Patrick Mahomes also angry. Yeah I think I'M GONNA go with Andy Reid as well just based off of experience. I think being able to manage all of the emotions that go along with playing in such a big game for the first time as the league I think will will play a part and maybe the you know the outcome of the game. I I like all the things and the elements that you gave them ourselves. But when I look at what Andy Reid has has been able to accomplish and where it stands right now if it becomes a coaching match it will be the experience of Andy. Reid that overtakes them. If it's not the talent of that forty niners team Damn Opportu here. Both y'all champion. ESPN Andy Reid. kind of scares me because I wanNA lean that way and Monday I hopefully. I am leaning that way but man cal Santa have. He's he's like bang. Bang a favorite character from the Batman deals. And he you know he was born into the night. They had to teach Batman how to make vision and all that bang was born into it. Cow Shanahan was.

"More he was. He was greater with Randy Moss. He's been great without randy mouth. He has always been ready better seasons before he saw. Tom Brady and Tom Brady had his best season. When Randy mosses there Randy Moss has been great for years? So as Tom Brady they made each other better. That's one I'll give you that. Tom Brady Brady understands this one thing about his career because he's seen it Joe Montana even gave me a bite. The grass is always greener on the other side Tommy. He went to Kansas City but we still know in revere so Montana for the forty nine hundred years so if you're Tom Brady is what I would tell you. A little piece of advice and Joe Montana gave them the same advice. Stay in New England. Finish the story book career there the tweet. I don't pay any attention to it. It's about Tom. Brady doing what we all want to do. At some point you know what I'm going to. I'm not going to conform to the Patriots. I'm not going to conform to doing the right thing. Yes it's the Friday before the Super Bowl so I'm GonNa get a little attention and take all the attention. Here's among here's prostate. Here's the Pro Brady. Did Number One. The Patriot way suited him. Fine until it didn't then he did an end around. Belichick went to the owner and got Garoppolo ship data town right so the Patriot Way Brady gave into it the whole thing until the Patriot way came looking for him. Hey old man get out. We got a young guy then. He undermined the Patriot. The way that's number one number two. He wants to get paid chicks. Not going to pay him so if he does another end around to craft and now bellichik. GM's gotTa the book these resources he doesn't want to Brady now. WHAT'S CRAFTS GONNA do? "You, you mentioned the spark that's important, which because sometimes changing it up, you know, putting in your relief or whatever that is it. It. Sometimes it does give you spark. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it does, but I think that's what Steve Wilks was trying to open for. He saw happen with Baker Mayfield. That was like a miracle. I mean, it was unbelievable to watch Baker Mayfield win that game Cleveland. So that's what you're looking for by the way. I think you've given this show spark Steve by calling on this show is doing very well before you call him. But I think he gave us rid of. All right. Bye-bye. Before I let you go, Steve, what do you think happens tonight? Fits magic v Steelers, who are in desperate need of a win. What do you think happens? Monday night. What's going on over there? I mean, you know, I'm anxious to see just what kind of teen shows because they seem to have things going on and then fits magic. You know, he crashed my party and I let him in thinking he's gonna be in the playoffs. Right? And so the NFL fans in general love seeing the underdog succeed at times like the Browns or like the Tampa Bay bucks like fits who who's just been. He's got nine lives, but this one seems to be best life. And so I've kinda kinda rooting for the bucks and to see if you can pull off another mirror. Hooded you choose. Who did you pick in the picks contest? Who did you take? Tell you what took. We're going again, we're going against each other. I took the bucks to go three know. I think they win tonight. They might. They might mooch you take care. See Thursday St.. Mary g here by the way, Thursday, Vikings Rams, how about that game. And so here I know it's very easy from where I was sitting in my home on my couch, but the way that the cardinals were struggling on offense up fourteen nothing and then fourteen three. It looked to me again. Wilkes didn't have the benefit of playing the jets and having the jets knock his quarterback out of the game at the end of the first half. So he was forced to do something that he didn't think he had to do, which is put his rookie quarterback in the game. And then thus, Hugh Jackson now has the Baker Mayfield era as dumb sure they will call it in Cleveland begin can't deny the town anymore, but to me, it looked like you wanna spark put him in, get his feet wet. See what he can do in the third quarter. End of the first half see then don't push the button. Again. It's very easy for me in twenty twenty hindsight. To with Khalil Mack on a field. Like I said, what if what, if you've ever said Steve Wilks from a podium, you know what? I know everybody's calling for the rookie, but I am not gonna put him in until we are have our backs against the wall and threat of an own three start common. And we had a fourteen point lead that we've blown and I'm not gonna put him in that situation unless Khalil Mack on the field trying to chase him down in a pure passing situation that we all know is a passing situation..

"I mean, Baker Mayfield came into a two minutes and got comfortable fast. As we all saw the kickoff of week three on NFL network with the Browns. But that was at the end of the first half. Now it's like Steve Wilks pushed the Josh Rosen button with mere minutes. Go and game and Khalil Mack breathing down the rookies neck in a clear passing situation. Walk me through a coach's mindset if you can Steve, not all Steve's think alike. I don't know what Steve Wilk was thinking about. You know, he just maybe he wanted to spark. Maybe he's just hoping that this is a Baker Mayfield moment. Maybe he had enough with Sam Bradford, I don't know. There's always a big decision, rich win to play the young quarterback. All right, in Sam darnold case that's different than you know, because you got an old guy that's was Josh mccown and let's let's get to, you know, let's get to this and he's, he's going to be our starter playing day one, but all the other guys, whether it's Josh Allen, who played a nice game right Baker Mayfield played. A nice game here comes Josh Rosen in a tough situation against a tough defense. And you know, had he had he made some first downs or put it in the end zone, coach looks more. It looks good like, hey, perfect timing way to go. If the flops then you say, well, I got an economic decision hoodoo I start next week, but eventually all these guys will start. It's a matter of win, and you got to be a little bit loyal to the San Bradford's or the tyrod Taylor's for a little bit because you brought them in there for a reason with the with their intention of being player for you. And then you know it's Rosen's gonna be around there for a long time. He didn't need to start day one. No, I don't think the way that it went down is gonna shake confidence at all. I mean, I don't think so. He's confident kid, but interesting. What did he say for next week? What's going to happen next? They get guess what's the? I think he's got a look at the film. You know, he's got a look at the film. Let me ask you this question. I don't talk about this right now. I gotta decide later. Did you ever Steve from a podium use the? I've gotta look at the film as getting out of saying something from the podium and that moment. Did you ever use when you definitely didn't need to look at the film? Did you ever use that? Probably probably I probably did because I had Steve Yang with a concussion, you know, and this and that, and it was he can. And so you say that to buy yourself some time to talk it over with your staff? Yes, to look at the film, talk it over with your GM which way you want to go. Because if you start answering questions in the heat of the moment on press conference after a big winner, big loss, you might regret it. So it just buys you some time to, hey, I wanna sit down and things through this thing, and we can talk more coaches have a press conference every single day every day drives used to drive me nuts, but it's sometimes it's better to push it off tomorrow. Let me think about this leap on. In meet with my staff after without? Yeah, it's Mayfield. By the way, Hugh Jackson announced that about half an hour ago, it's may feel Docker, isn't it? It's gonna be interesting to see what Steve Wilks does. You know, I think. Well, I mean the minute that you take Sam Bradford out in a situation like that. Talk about a vote on Okon since you just put the kid in their own three Seahawks are coming to town. Let's see if they can get a spark from quarters..

"You know what? They might not get it ready like not get ten wins or more. We'll see. I know I know that that went Edelman comes. I'm back that that's got no big difference maker Gordon. Yeah, we'll see. Oh, I'll I'll believe it when I see Gordon on that field and he's gonna look in that offense St. Mary UT here on the rich Eisen show. So let's get into the claim athletes roughing the passer -ality Steve, you're on the player advisory board, the player safety advisory board. Now this this is not something that you guys discussed that the reemphasise on this now twenty three year old rule did not come from your advisory board. What comes from our advisory board is we study the injuries, the data, the frequency, and in those sort of things of all injuries, concussions knees, you name it, and and what happens is because of the data when we find out on kickoff returns, the most dangerous play. We make adjustments to that particular play. You saw, we created more touchback that makes it less injuries. Simple. As that you remembered Richie look at the big picture. It's all about keeping the players healthy or all right, ROY. Rollback time a few years. Remember when Carson Palmer blew his knee out, and he was done when he was playing for the Cincinnati Bank member when Tom Brady blew his knee out in the pocket and you missed the whole season will when those things happen, sometimes you say, all right, we can't have people hitting the quarterbacks in the knees. So we change the rule remember and I know and that led to some crazy roughing. The passer penalties were somebody falling and hit somebody in a sheet and then a flag comes down. And thankfully we don't see that anymore. So the question is I understand why the rules are put into place, but. Is it possible because the NFL likes what we're talking about, because, hey, double down on it last week while I know they did. But the reason this rule has been changed is because of Aaron Rodgers getting hit by Anthony Barr and driven to the turf and he's out for the season with a shoulder so so that that that prompted the discussion, okay. How do we further protect the quarterback in and out of the pocket while they came to this? I mean, it's we're the kind of the think-tank. All right. We don't make rules. We kinda suggest and we say why this plays dangerous or this kinda hit his dangerous. Then there's a rules committee, then the owners after boat. But anyway, so it was like, all right, we're not going to try to limit two hits on a quarterback, won the big guy, hitting them in the jobs, and then the second one, the ground with all that extra weight. And you know what? We're, we're learning what we're learning because there are intended unintended consequences that it's hard. Hard to play the game that way clay Matthews. His actually trying to go by the rules and he's still getting called three weeks in a row and and it's hard to officiate very hard to officiate. So I think there will be more discussion on. All right, how can we better this rule? Our intentions are good, but boy, is it difficult when things happen? So fast like this because William Hayes now blew out his knee yesterday, unfortunate that shit moving his body weight off of Derek Carr in the process. And now what we're doing is we're making guys think as opposed to being instinctive and that anybody who tells me anybody who I've interviewed over the last fifteen years with NFL network. And with this show Steve as you will, you will be able to attest having played the game yourself and coached it for as long as you have. Anytime that somebody says, when you're out there not being instinctive and you're thinking or maybe you're thinking about an injury where you're thinking about a penalty, that's that's when things get dangerous. That's. Apple actually do get hurt. Yeah. Well, they get hurt when there's no rules too. So I think, you know, here's what's happening with quarterbacks. Okay. They're an endangered species. We're trying to protect. What we're trying to do is keep their hits in off the knees right off the knees and off the shoulder neck and head. Those are the areas that when quarterbacks get hurt, they're out, they're gone. The team goes in the tank and so does the fan base and everything else..

"And click on the four pack, special less Durham with the call of Calvin Ridley who became the third rookie in the last fifteen years to have three or more touchdowns in a hundred receiving yards in a single game Torrey Smith and Odal are the only other ones in yet despite Matt Rohan, Matt Ryan throwing for five touchdowns. It was not enough for the falcons to avoid one and to start. And now the saints after their season opening loss to fits magic at home. Coming up with two wins in a row drew Brees is on the show tomorrow. Steve mariucci's on the phone right now, my compadres from NFL game day morning. How are you? I'm good what a week, and we had a football. It was unbelievable. What's the biggest shootout you've ever been a part of Steve like like that? Like that game? We saw in Atlanta? Yes. Okay. As a coach when I was at Cal, we went fifty six to fifty five against Arizona with four overtimes and you can thank me for changing the college overtime rule because we went four overtimes in at Cal stadium, and we finally won the game and around the field. It was awesome, but the official said had had you not want it there. We were going to cancel the game and co-sponors to the next day or the next week and it was getting dark. We had no lights. So because of that, they changed the rule and said, okay, you're going to kick your be able to kick in overtime twice, but then you have to go for two because we can't have fourteen different overtimes in in in stadiums that have no lights to get into that situation. Again, fifty six fifty five. So you were part of Dame that that changed college over we go for two, yes, because it can you imagine they say, okay, we can't anymore. It's too dark. Come back tomorrow. What -absolutely. So what about what about pros, the big. Shootout in the pros that you're part of like what we saw in Atlanta, I'm trying to think. I don't. I don't. I don't remember anything quite like that. I'm drawing a blank right now. Rich. I know let me go on this one. The Sunday night game. Last night did Matt, Patricia. See when you were part of the line sideline and you threw a challenge flag and you said it was a what? An angry flag Rica fired up flag. Did you see him throw that challenge flag last night that went like fifty yards and Sunday night football, Steve. Did you see that you gotta? You gotta be angry, you got what a win for him, right? Yeah, just a couple of weeks. We're talking about a weeks ago. Everybody's upset at him in Detroit because he'd practice hard and training camp, and this is not going to be a happy marriage that win against his mentor. Bill Belichick was huge for the lions and Matt Patricia. He was fired up. Yeah, I know. And you could see the way that the players were all excited for him to maybe they look good. Well. What the patriots didn't look good. So what do you make of it? Steve, what I make of it is is wh what we're seeing in the NFL right now is some teams that that that should be good will have that mulligan kinda game. Okay. In some teams that should be bad, you know, like the bills were ranked thirty. Second in the power. Rankings are good enough to go into Minnesota and just put a beatdown on them. It's unbelievable. You never on any given Sunday. You just never know what to expect. You can have good teams flop and bad teams play well, and that's what makes this this league. So interesting and the patriots right now, you know, I, you know, I'm watching them, you know, because I mentioned this on the air a couple of weeks ago. They're trying to get their sixteenth season in a row of double digit wins, right? Sixteenth in a row to tie the forty Niners this. Thank you very much and.

"And I asked him how this young kid Roach is going to be able to get the job done. And you said you always got credible arm. He's made you credible plays and practice and see a lot of great signs. So he was excited and me being, I guess, a skeptic. I was like, you know, you're getting rid of one of the most solid quarterbacks in the NFL over the past ten years to to to, you know, risk it on a young kid. You don't really have any track record of, and you know foolish of me to ever doubt Andy Reid. Patrick Mahomes is proving to everybody that everything is translating pretty well. The NFL I kid has been unbelievable and I'm happy for Kansas City their fan base, Travis and obviously read. I got a lot of respect for that guy. So hopefully in keep it up, Jason love the chatman. Let's do it again soon who's grind really enjoyed, give it you got it. That's Jason Kelsey, eagle center telling it like it is and just a fun fun. Great player at his position. Good stuff right there. And by the way he's gonna have to see Alex Smith twice a year now. And Alex Smith is two and one Adrian Peterson land, like a beast. How about Adrian. On the data. Tiger Woods wins as more bat whose move at Peterson at over one hundred yards and two touchdowns. Right. Okay. So there's Browns news and I'll give you hand Hugh Jackson has seen the film. All right, Steve Murray joining us next deny that I've tell, jeez, okay. It's a tease Hugh Jackson seen the film. That's all I'm giving you. That's next. Okay. "Currently, it's in a cardboard box in a in a basement. It's a enjoying at least a mini retirement for a while. I think eventually it'll either be donated or put up in some type of in Casement. But as of right now, it's kind of on the back burner on the priority list. Okay. No, no. I know the gains to be. I understand Jason, I I understand is, is it wrong? Ask what size it is? What size is it? You know, I don't know the specific measurements, so it's not. These things are Taylor. This is like, this is a big time stuff. You know, this is. By the way, I did not mean to accuse you're wearing off the rack Mummers. Yeah, it's not. This is so the the guy who wore it for the Mummers about six, four, three hundred pounds as a pretty comparable is apples to apples. Okay, we're, we're in that in that range right there. And so you know, again, we talked about competitors in who you are as a competitor, Jason and others you're you're used to. Are you competitive with the beards with, say, Ryan Fitzpatrick right now, Jason like absolutely nothing to the beard. There's there's a, there's an underground like a community of NFL players beards, and we all secretly. I think judge how good other guys you're right now, Ryan Patrick beard. There's literally on fire not mentioned. You know the the color of it. But I mean, this guy's been out of his mind that celebration the other day with the beard nozzle with him and his offense. Alignment, you know, he's all that he's really representing the beard industry pretty pretty well right now, but you know, I think it might be giving them special powers down there in Tampa. So you think is the clubhouse be MVP of the NFL season for the last two weeks, I'll give them that or the last two weeks. He's been spot on. Did you know we got a long season out of, so I'm not gonna. I'm not ready to crown. It is. You're right. It's a marathon, not a sprint. It's my bad right there. And so your beard care collection with old spice now that's gotta give you an edge, Jason. Correct? Absolutely. You know, I think that when I first started growing a beard about seven years ago, I didn't really do much of anything. Just kind of let it go as naturally as possible. And you soon start to realize that you know in this day and age, it's gotta be at least up kept a little bit. You gotta give some effort and and you know, my wife was one of the biggest proponents of me using some products because she would always get like this really bad acne on her chin. Sometimes she will you please wash this thing and stop just coming home fresh field and then kissing me. So that was a big step forward for. Care should from most price. You know, they got the wash beer ball, the beard oil. Everything's kind of in the kit surveillance exclusively on Amazon, but you know this, this whole beer k. collection is worked wonders for, you know, my wife and I, we got Travis on the show tomorrow. Jason, your brother. It looks like he's going with the elite beard. You know what I'm saying? Like the quarterback when they start when he start winging it around and get a leaked hair, you know, like like when slack, when I saw flacco at the combine years ago, it is not looked like flacco post, Super Bowl win now, elite hair, Joe flacco. It looks like Kelsey is going with the tighter beard in Kansas City. Jason. It seems that your brother's going a little bit high falutin here on the. That's that lends itself to Travis. You know, he's a, he's a pass catching basically gore five receiver, incredible player, but you know. Yeah, that's I think that the way our beards looked go hand in hand with, you know, the personality differences between an offense lineman, and they in a in a receiver or tight and the ad. I'm glad you went receiver. I them last one four year. He's again on the show tomorrow. What's he telling you about? It's quarterback when the brothers talk? Oh, my gosh. I mean, how about that guy? Right? I think I, I reached out to them right away with me. I traded Alex Smith 'cause I know that he was close to the Alex. They've been together for a long time, kids city..

"So I mean, it's a tough position to be in a really is for the NFL. But you know, I think obviously was some of the things that have been going on so far this year. It's something that we, we still don't really have figured out. So let me ask you this, Jason is it, would there be a groundswell in a way for the players to get together and tell the NFL in this regard? Don't protect us so much. You know, I don't know. I think that you'd have a hard time with the unions and everybody trying to to to go to the message of trying to stop protecting players. But I think that especially with the new, the new rule this year that was coming out where you can't, you can never lower your head on a player. Anytime you strike with your head at the penalty. And the the reality is there's a certain situations where you, you can't develop proper leverage or move and change the line of scrimmage without, you know, flattening your back, utilizing the your helmet, utilizing the crown of tool in order to gain a point of leverage. I think that there's just it's getting to a point and it was close with the players and she with that new goal putting in place because at the end of the day, we understand what you're trying to use trying to take away from his head. Everybody's scared about the CT's stuff. You understand all the health is. That are starting to be made public for NFL players, but. At the end of the day, unless you're a defensive player, you have a responsibility to protect yourself on the field as well. I mean, it's not just all on the onus they got hitting you. You know if somebody straight in front swears you up, lowers his head. Your job to protect yourself. It's not the NFL shop to protect you at that point in my opinion. And you know, now if you're catching a ball over the middle and you and you and you're reaching out, you don't have a chance to protect yourself. That's something different. But I think that some of these are it's the line is continuing to become skewed continuing to become a gray, and you know, I don't think the players right now at this point or close to doing anything, but I think you know it's, it's something that the NFL needs address that's for sure. Can't be in eagles center, Jason, Kelsey here on the rich Eisen show. So when Carson Wentz got back in the huddle yesterday I play, did anybody say anything? Did he say something? What was it like when he got back, I play. I think everybody was kind of, you know, I don't think that anything was really set and he got said of welcome back brother. You know. It was. It's something that you everybody's just so happy for that guy. I mean, competitor, the type of player he is. It was felt the moment he was drafted Philadelphia and have season. He was having last year only to be ended short with a with a knee injury. Then to have to watch, you know his team. One of the reasons that we were that good was huge. Remember that good was because of him continue to go on and win the Super Bowl without him. I think obviously he's happy, but at the same time, I mean, I think you know he would have given anything out there with us and they have to watch that they have to go to an entire off season rehabbing getting back to fully healthy and finally be back out on the field. I think that we were all just so happy for him and you know, he'd definitely brought pro sparked, that's for sure. Yeah, I've love it. You said that Jason because in this day and age, I mean, look, we're, you guys are all human beings, your people, you know you have everybody's got egos. Everybody's got. You know, deep-seated beliefs and everybody's a competitor. The fact that again, the way that he handled his business the way that foles handle his business really normally, if it was a different way you guys might not have not only not one last year, but the locker room could have been torn apart..

"Just had a chat off air with our you. Choose calling in twenty minutes just wanted to subject. That's a touchy subject in the NFL right now, certainly over the over the first three games for everybody. And we might see tonight on Monday night football between the Steelers and the bucks. This reemphasise on rule that's been on the books for twenty three years by the way, the body weight rule that was added to the NFL rulebook in nineteen ninety five that you're not allowed to put your your defenders. Wait, can't throw can't violently it on a quarterback or land on him with all or most of the defenders weight. And for twenty five year twenty three years twenty two years, whatever was on. The books was pretty much appropriately called or was was called when when it was necessary. To be called because it was so obviously violent, and now there has been a decision made once thanks in the front offices of the NFL that whatever has been fine for the last twenty two years. And it might have been Anthony Barr putting his body weight on Aaron Rodgers last year that they are not going to do this anymore, which is let it go. When you're seeing somebody sacking quarterback with what appears to be a strike zone, being hit below the head and above the the knees right around in the breadbasket and hitting a guy he's throwing and it makes it look, maybe that you're lifting up off the ground. But let's let's be normal about this and not flag football plays for being made. And now again, what's gone down in the NFL as Adam gates announced today, that William Hayes of the Miami Dolphins is out for the year, the ACL injury. How did he hurt himself trying to avoid putting his body weight on Derek Cari head some and as Derek. Going down Hayes, removes the lower part of his body, moves his legs from his torso to the side to avoid his full body weight, going on car. And by doing that, his leg scrape the ground, any blows his knee out and he's done for the year. Genn what are we doing. So that's out there and I asked eve, is this something that the players advisory board that he's on talked about? He said, no, this is not something that came out of the player advisory board. So I would advise. How about a fan advisory board as a fan? I'd like to advise. Let's do something about this into that. I mean. So mooch is calling in shortly. We'll take your phone calls at eight, four, four, two, four, rich, otherwise, very entertaining week. You know, very entertaining week and reason why quarterbacks are protected. So rare that a backup quarterback can come in and take care of business in the same manner as the Philadelphia Eagles were able to enjoy last year. Without Nick foles performing as he did last year last January last February, there would be no banner in Philadelphia, and they're certainly would not have been an all time Mummers parade. Costume worn by our next guest courtesy of old spice Philadelphia Eagles center, Jason, Kelsey, how are you? Jason where it's thanks for having me. I'm wondering if you heard my spiel about this, so listening to that whole spiel, what do you make of said spiel? Jason. I understand, said spiel completely. You know, I respect that. You know the NFL's you know the Commissioner and you know they're, they're trying to, you know, whether it's, you know, them covering themselves and player safety or whether it's genuine care about the player safety. You know, I get it, but you know, it's, there's a fine line, you know, you're, you can't try and take away from the fact that you know it's a violent game. It's it's the game that we all signed up for mind being back when none of these rules existed or at least we're not enforcing the way they're unfortunate now and it's, it's, it's a physical sport that every time you step on the field, you know what you're in store for now. Do I think that there's defensive players that need to be, you know, that needs to be protected? Yes. I think that obviously, there's guys that are put in vulnerable positions where they can't protect themselves. But I think that. In in trying to do that, they might be taking away. I think it is taking away from the integrity of the sport, and one of the reasons it's become as entertaining as popular as it is is because of the physicality and the toughness required to play it..

"My best of the weekend is no doubt. Tiger win in the torch championship. Absolutely great for the game golf. My worst for the weekend is tiger winning a torch championship. Absolutely. The worst thing if you're a golfer because I'm an avid golfer and for the next three to six months, everyone's gonna dust their golf clubs off and the golf courses are gonna be absolutely packed, and it's going to suck. All right, Tony, thank you. It is true. It's amazing the number of guys that I worked with the mothership when tiger star playing. Well, everybody thought they were for everybody would go out there nego. It's not that easy. Not that easy. Yeah, paulie, you think like people who do curling and Minnesota and then up north when USA one curling Olic all these posers try curling for a week and a half. Well, you can't just go out and find a curling rink or whatever it's called curling. Then you well, we did we once a year ago we watch curling and went to the little and this woman she had barely any patients force like, yeah, I'll teach do curling. She knew exactly what we're doing. It's okay. Yeah, but they should embrace that that somebody is willing to at least try the sport. That's what you want, because I'm sure for years decades, you'd have people in curling going, you know, you should try this. You just have a broom there. And then I tried it once when you're delivering the rock there. It's not easy balance. And then the guy's with brooms that's no joke either, but I don't know what their calls or whatever they're yelling out there, but they made it into a must see TV event. And that's what's fun about curling because of the outfits. But when you guys went curling. That was not good, not good, not pretty fritzy could not use the broom because he had no experience is no idea. Kept hitting it behind me, pushing right leg between legs behind. You have no idea how to use a broom. They don't. How old are you? I'm gonna be forty nine in a couple of weeks and you have no clue now yet I'll get there. I find it one of the most and there's a lot of things that are amazing about you. You fascinated by fascinated that you don't know how to use a broom. You use it like a shuffleboard. Do you've never done a loaded laundry? Right? Longtime ago when I was living by myself, I had to figure a couple things that when it wasn't home anymore in this century, have you done laundry in this century? I would say maybe at the very, very beginning of the century, we're like, right, maybe let two thousand eighteen years eighteen years. How long you been married? Been married. Coming up on nineteen. Yeah. So you haven't done any laundry. This century been awhile. Over the two thousands. Good for you. If you're able to do that, you're able to pull that off once it's washed and everything. You know, I'll try to fold it up and put on a hanger, put an drawers. I've been just let it lay in the Basque and you don't cook either. Now boil some water and throw some pasta and they're put some your wife shovel snow, some toast. She does do a good job with the snow show. What jobs do you do around house? The garbage? Oh, okay. I'll bring out the recycling container thing that part of the garbage, garbage and recycling..

"Jordan speed was gonna part of the tour championship, so he's gotten arrested. But most of these guys, the majority of the guys that you saw compete to a championship this week from Europe and US if played a lot of golf and never know, you know what's going to happen over there. Patrick Reid wasn't on his game at the tour championship, but he's a guy that's thrived and in the Ryder Cup atmosphere and tiger, you know, we'll see. You know, it's gonna be really interesting because I think you could throw out the book on form. I think you can throw out the book on on, you know what? What history? What Tigers record is even what fills record, isn't it? Phil Mickelson's record is certainly not stellar, but he's played on more Ryder cups now are will than anybody in the history of the sport. And I just think that the moon and the stars are aligned with everybody that's been playing so well, for the most part and the. In in what both teams are comprised of the stars and the personalities and tiger and Phil back. This is probably gonna be the last time you see tiger and filling the Ryder Cup team. I just don't think that. Yeah, you know, fill is. I think this is spills last run so you know, enjoy it. You know, just like we enjoyed Tigers victory yesterday, you never know how many there's gonna be enjoyed this Ryder Cup because this is going to be pretty special. I think travels Dan. That was great. Listen this weekend. Thanks for joining us. Yeah. Good to hear that. Steve says is still very high up on the all lot. Let's because he's, I think he's a future hall of Famer. I think that he's got that kind of potential. You were always working late yet all the swimming events. You were never. I never saw all lobby bar. I think you know that. I think the all lobby team is you gotta pretty much remember that there's obviously not, you know, enough of a demanding Olympic assignment for for those people that can make the all lobby squads, like Steve sands, we got, you know, you're not going to see Bob Costas or Mike Tariq. Oh, throwing back. He's long at the Olympics are just just Mack. Enjoy those kinds of moments. So Steve sands rise to the occasion again, pal the next Olympics and Tokyo. Okay. If you walked by the bar and you saw Bob Costas their bellied up to the bar, more reason to stop or more reason to keep going. More reason to give my brief lame impersonation of him such as Bob as any way I can perhaps buy you a beer. Or are you thinking break from beer and going pure wine on these particular Olympic Games? Back after this. After this stretch time in Florida. Thank you, Dan, safe travels. Where did this interview go? It went right down the two. I have no idea. Great, great to talk to you and good being in your former town of Atlanta this week. And by the way, tell tell my wife, Hannah that I set a low. I will take care buddy. Thank you, Dan, Dan Hicks. Well, backstory, there had some people who still believe Don Imus thought forever. Radio host thought that Hannah was married to me, technically, never married to you. Never. I don't think not even in like a short ceremony like, you know, Johnny would know what was it. One owner writer and Ken Reeves in a movie. Got married, and then they thought it might hold up or something, but don't who was it? Somebody else who thought that Hannah was my wife Ohana. That's right thoughts. No, I'm kidding. That's worse. Rumors to have a bunch out there. That's true. Yeah, I, he think by the way Hicks has a great gig. These sneaky with all the good jobs he has. He's underrated his Olympic stuff with swimming. He's I think he's ever won the sports EMMY. And I always say that every time I'm at the Olympics when Hicks does swimming, he and rowdy Gaines. I don't know how he. Does it win with golf? You just sort of expect that, but with swimming and the number of swimming events that that energy that ability all those Michael Phelps, racist. I thought Hicks was unbelievable with that. Really. I mean, I don't want to give up my sports Emmys for Hicks to win one. But if he would happen to win one in a year, I'm not nominated..

"The media does, and you're gonna have a lot of people going, you know, is this it for the patriots. This year they don't make the playoffs. Is this the year, Tom Brady falls off the ledge here by the way I promised a great stat of the day with the Buffalo Bills. I did not deliver last hour. Here it is, and I don't even need music on this seat because I'm just the it's quick and it's, it's sad the days dad the day, Bob up liked it. We cannot Capelle it. We could. To Buffalo Bills have outscored the opposition forty one to nine since vantera Davis retired. That's me. Okay. I said it was going to be a great stat of the day. He missed this ride. I didn't say it was going to be a sensitive stat of the day. Paulie said, it'd be a great stat of the day, and it was all right. Eight, seven, seven, three DP show Email address DP Dan, Patrick dot com. Gets more of your phone calls what you saw that you liked. You didn't like best and worse to the weekend. And obviously, one of the best of the weekend was Tiger Woods. He was on the call. He's Dan Hicks. He's NBC sports lead Gulf play by play man and getting ready for the Ryder Cup in France coming up on Friday, and he joins us. Now, Dan, how are you today? I'm good. How are you doing Dan? I'm I'm spectacular. If you didn't watch yesterday, how would you sum up what you saw. I would sum it up by saying you're probably not gonna see anything like it. No, not probably. You'll never see anything like it again because you'll never be the comeback because that happened yesterday. Now, I know a lot of people think it's not official till he gets a major, but you're never gonna see anything like that from a five plus year drought to what Tigers been through to the new tiger who presented himself. I think to a lot of people yesterday in a way that they have not seen him in his previous seventy, nine wins. So I think if you, you know if you missed yesterday or if you wanted to sum it up, you would simply say it's a once in a lifetime viewing experience. It was that special and yes, you're as you're seeing this crowd, it's almost like the British Open where they sort of give birth to the champion when he kind of merges out of the crowd there. But when you start to see this, well, what are you thinking as Tigers walking up eighteen. And I'm thinking the same thing everybody else's. I, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. And I mean when those ropes went down and those people now obviously, that doesn't happen with any other golfer, not like we've seen that seen in past two or championships. It's just not going to happen, but that was the enthusiasm all week and it was. It was even more special because tiger had the lead from the get-go. This was a wire-to-wire win. So this whole thing had been brewing and I had had a chance to go to the practice to you every day. My schedule allowed that. So it was neat to see tiger warm up and appear on the practice today. And so when I went out there, there were people literally waiting to three hours just for his appearance on the practice t with their cell phones out as he was gonna come in and there was a standing ovation. Each time he walked out to the t. I mean, there was stuff going on out there that you know that we didn't weren't able to show with our cameras, but just the comments by people, but but parents bringing kids and. And these kids seem Tiger Woods for the first time and in the parents explaining what this guy's all about because it had been so long since he'd, he'd done this. So it was it was special all the way around. I'll never forget it. Certainly, I think what is interesting is if you're thirteen or fourteen years of age, you have no idea what this is all about. You're seeing something, but if you're a golf fan, even if you're twenty, you might have no idea of what Tigermania used to be. And even these younger golfers, I always, I thought it was very humorous. Like Justin, Thomas would say, man, I'd love to hear those tiger wars. Again, you know, Rory talked about that..
Eagles' Jason Kelce shares bizarre story from Super Bowl parade
"One jason kelsey of the philadelphia eagles i if you could say there's a breakout star the philadelphia eagles obviously nick foles and you know there's a lotta guys to be named but to me for my money tasting kelsey at was just a shining light of craziness and fun and emotion after the philadelphia eagles super bowl win obviously like the kelsey brothers do you like jason and travis kelsey i will lean more towards jason than travis you points for bringing them up i'm sorry go ahead i'm sorry i like hey jason's the fun guy travis i dunno some you know what it was when he had that dating show that's what i hated rugby come on man he's a stupid chief too so i don't wanna see there's where your bias law what because i'm a raider fan no i don't like travis kelsey but go on so jason kelsey again he had the big the incredible outfit i don't even know what you call it that crazy outfit yet on the parade day he actually was asked at media or a minicamp in media session at mini camp i should say just some questions about the parade and obviously this whole off season of being with philly fans and you're in their stories and he had one story in particular that was a little odd philly fan decided to celebrate the super bowl victory here's what he had to say the biggest one walking down on the parade that day i can't remember who came up to me somebody came up to me with ashes in their hand this is somebody somebody kills i don't know what to do somebody just poured their grandfather's ashes in my hands it was just as i don't know what to do okay what do you do with that so apparently he's referring to a teammate who while they're on the parade route he goes so what do i do with these ashes of someone's dead grandpa that just got placed into my hand people lose themselves people lose themselves around their team around their favorite player like listen i if you had a family members of diehard eagles it's fine you want to spread their ashes around finding the link something don't put it into the palm of lineman what.

"A lot of things about what you guys right which guys wrong but i think that unified that trust that they have in one another is certainly what's going to propel the lions and hopefully they can get this thing where they can develop some toughness they can develop some some kind of s unique nece in terms of how they handle situational football and also how they sealed their football team and i think that the together those guys at least being united helps i think we see that in philadelphia where i was wrong about doug peterson was the fact that you know he learned all the job he got better at what he did and the the the unification between the front office in him work and i think that that's something that's going to have to happen in detroit and i think it can because those two guys are so close and we we should should say say bob bob quinn quinn lyons a twelve years with new england and scouting in personnel and obviously knows map patricia pretty well we know how it all worked out with jim bub kutre and matt stafford they're pretty happy on the offense of side of the football so patricia really comes in and he has won focus that skiing that defense right and we saw um you know some signs from that that alliance defense that they have some some stud players and we obviously remember when jim schwartz was there when they had ziggy anza in consumer in that great defensive line so it's not like it can happen with the detroit lions putting a defense together they're gonna have to do some work i mean let's face it any good after proved little players there that you know what happened on the super bowl isn't exactly what what about i mean i think that super bowl loss is you know it was the worst defensive performance think in patriot other than the opening game they gave up forty two points the opener and they gave a forty one in this game so i i think he's got some work cut out for him to prove that but paul past cronies defense it was a guy that was was his his his mentor at syracuse and i i just hope matt.

"And you could sign another player and paying a million and you might just have the same guy there's not that four million gap but where there is a gap is a quarterback and that's where the players are gonna get the most money the quarterbacks salaries are going to break this thirty million a year brr a barrier and it's gonna keep going aaron rogers is going to break it matt ryan is going to break it guaranteed money's not going to be really that important in the sense they all know they're going to earn their money made jimmy garoppolo scott what's they think he could potentially get ninety million of guarantee well if you pay if you pay if he plays three years of four years he's going to earn ninety million i mean it it would only be if he didn't play would do not earn it i mean people say well you don't know that because you haven't seen enough sample size of jimmy g no i think we have what we've seen and what we learned in the super bowl was at nick folds works really well under the chip kelly style of office with some variations we also know that jimmy garoppolo can really excel under the couch shanta had offense without many variation since then it can only get better with another year and training camp involved so i think this is a smart play by the forty nine or stay got the number one thing they had to do in the off season out of the way they gave the best player on their team the most money which they have to do and now it's up to him to handle the success to handle the fame and the fortune and really get down to business and make this team better and they could move forward with it but i also think it's going to be a situation where the quarterbacks are gonna have to get paid there's not enough great players to get paid and it's it's funny when i read this about garoppolo i thought of the fourteen draft right the great blake portals we can't have a pow podcast it up like borders name that's the rule correct.
